Chapter 5 AJ and Pokémon Tech
Hey guys this chapter is mainly going to cover Aj and the Pokémon Tech school it'll be a pretty chill and short chapter. Let's begin the story and I hope you all enjoy.
It's been a week since the gang left Cerulean City during that time Ash and his Pokémon have been training hard every day so they can win their third badge. Ash and his Pokémon have battled 10 trainers during this week they are currently on a winning streak. His Pokémon have also learned new moves except for Magikarp it's been hard at work strengthening the moves it already has. Magikarp has been training with Misty's water Pokémon to try and perfect Hydro Pump it still needs work, but Magikarp is now able to use the move 4 times instead of three. Brock's Pokémon have also been helping Ash's mons increase their endurance so that they can last longer in battle (This mainly benefits Pidgeotto, Butterfree and Pikachu) Pikachu was also able to strengthen Iron Tail after training with Brocks Onix. Right now, Ash is currently in a battle against a trainer and calls for a command.
"Magikarp use Tackle!" Ash calls as Magikarp shoots forward and slams hard against a Raticate knocking the Pokémon out surprising the Raticate trainer as he speaks.
"Man, I lost" The random boy says in disappointment he returns the big rat as Ash speaks.
"It was a good battle" Ash says as he walks to the boy and the boy shakes his hand as the boy speaks.
"Your Magikarp is really strong I wonder if can beat AJ's Sandshrew" Boy says making Ash interested as he speaks.
"Who's AJ?" Ash asks.
"AJ is a really strong trainer he has a gym and wants to win 100 battles before beginning his journey he's currently at 99 wins and his Sandshrew's tough" The boy says surprising everyone Ash then looks down at Magikarp and speaks.
"What do you say Magikarp you want to battle that Sandshrew?" Ash asks as Magikarp gets an excited look looking forward to battling the Sandshrew with Ash nodding as he speaks.
"That's great!" Ash says as he looks at the boy.
"So, where's AJ's gym?" Ash asks as the boy tells him that if they keep going straight for 10 miles, they'll find it. After that the boy leaves telling Ash good luck, once he's gone the gang then set off to AJ's gym.
The gang walked for 15 minutes but were able to find the gym it's a big circular building that has AJ's name in front they then enter. Ash takes a couple steps forward and yells.
"Hello is AJ hear I've come to challenge you to a battle!" Ash yells as soon after a boy with green hair, a whip and a Sandshrew walk out. The boy looks at the gang then speaks.
"I'm AJ, so your another challenger?" The boy asks with Ash nodding as he speaks.
"Yep, that's right I've heard you got a really strong Sandshrew my Magikarp is pretty strong so how about a battle?!" Ash says having a confident look on his face as AJ begins to laugh.
"Hahahaha You're kidding me, right? a Magikarp can't be strong they're one of the weakest Pokémon in the world the only benefit of having one is one day getting a Gyarados so to answer your question no I don't accept battling your Magikarp if you have any other Pokémon I'll take them on instead" AJ responds in a mocking tone causing Ash to get angry before Ash could say anything Brock and Misty take a couple steps forward as Brock speaks.
"I wouldn't underestimate Ash's Magikarp if I were you during our gym battle it was able to beat my Geodude and weaken my Onix significantly" Brock says as Misty speaks
"Yeah, Ash had a gym battle with me last week it was able to break out of being frozen and beat my Seel in two moves it also defeated a Koffing, Ekan's a Scyther and tied with a Bellsprout it's a really tough fish" Misty says with a smile Ash looks at his two friends and is happy that they're standing up for Magikarp. Meanwhile AJ gets interested and begins to think.
"Hmmm well if two gym leaders say it's a strong Pokémon then I guess it's true I'll just have to see it for myself" AJ says to himself. When AJ's done thinking he looks at the group and speaks.
"Okay you caught my interest I'll accept your challenge I still find it hard to believe that a Magikarp was able to give two gym leaders trouble either your right and Magikarp is really strong or the gym leaders you battled are super weak" AJ says as he along with his Sandshrew go to their side of the battlefield. As Ash is about to walk to his side but he stops as he feels two angry hands on his shoulders he looks and sees Brock and Misty giving him angry looks as Brock speaks.
"Ash you and Magikarp better win" Brock says in anger as Misty speaks.
"Yeah, prove that kid wrong" Misty says in anger as well with Ash getting a nervous feeling as he feels the weight of his friend's expectations for him to win the battle rest on his shoulders. Pikachu's off to the side and shakes his head.
After that Ash goes to his side of the battlefield as both he and AJ stare at each other. The two boys continue to stare at each other until Ash notices something and speaks.
"Is there no referee?" Ash asks as AJ speaks.
"There's no need for one if you're a good trainer you should be able to tell when your Pokémon can't battle anymore, now hurry up and send out your Magikarp I've a training schedule I need to keep up with" AJ says he a serious tone as Ash nods and throws Magikarp's Pokeball forward.
"Magickarp, I choose you!" Ash says as the fish Pokémon comes out and starts beginning to happily splash up and down as it's excited to battle. Magikarp then looks at the opposing Sandshrew who has a serious expression Magikarp stops splashing and gets serious as well. Off to the side Brock pulls out a Pokeball and speaks.
"Sandshrew come out" Brock says as he brings out the ground mouse Brock tells it to watch the battle with AJ's Sandshrew and Ash's Magikarp very closely Sandshrew nods it look at the battlefield as it begins with Ash making the first move.
"Magikarp use Tackle!" Ash calls as soon as he called the move Magikarp shoots forward at blinding speed shocking both AJ and Sandshrew at how fast Magikarp is. Magikarp then rams its head into Sandshrew's stomach knocking the little ground mouse back as it begins to groan in pain. AJ is shocked he looks at Ash, Misty, Brock and even Pikachu who are all giving him a smug looks proving that they were right AJ shakes his head recollecting himself and calls for Sandshrew's first attack.
"Raise your defense with Defense Curl then use dig!" AJ yells as Sandshrew quickly raises its defense and starts to dig underground as Ash smirks and calls for a command.
"Magikarp jump and aim a Hydro Pump down in the hole!" Ash yells shocking AJ as Magikarp leaps in the air and fires the Hydro Pump in the hole causing Sandshrew to come flying back out and land on the battlefield groaning in pain as Ash speaks.
"Way to go Magikarp!" Ash cheers making Magikarp happily jump up and down. On the other side of the battlefield AJ looks at Sandshrew and speaks.
"Come on Sandshrew get up I know you're not down yet!" AJ says in a stern voice and slaps his whip on the floor making Ash, Brock, and Misty a bit uncomfortable but it's able to make Sandshrew stand up. The group look at Sandshrew and see that it barely took any damage from the Hydro Pump, surprising them as AJ speaks.
"Heh I'll admit Ash your Magikarp is certainly very tough but me and Sandshrew hear have been training nonstop and covering its weakness to water, we're now done with the warmup and it's time get serious!" AJ says while smiling and Sandshrew getting into a battle stance having a serious look on its face. This makes Ash and Magikarp more excited as Ash speaks.
"Sounds good to me AJ we love a strong opponent, and we'll get serious too!" Ash as both he and Magikarp get ready, AJ calls for his next commands.
"Sandshrew raise your speed with Agility then use Swords Dance!" AJ calls Sandshrew quickly raises both its speed and power as Ash speaks.
"Use Tackle!" Ash calls and Magikarp quickly speeds towards Sandshrew as AJ speaks.
"Catch it!" AJ calls as Sandshrew's able to catch Magikarp, but the fish is still pushing forward trying its best to hit Sandshrew as Ash speaks.
"That's right Magikarp keep pushing!" Ash yells encouraging Magikarp with the fish nodding as it continues to push forward making Sandshrew move back a little bit. AJ notices and calls for his next command.
"Use Slash!" AJ calls as Sandshrew's nails get longer and Slash's down on Magikarp causing damage and making the fish fall on the ground as Ash speaks.
"Now use Tackle!" Ash calls Magikarp quickly shoots forward and Tackles Sandshrew's abdomen pushing the ground mouse back. Even though Sandshrew increased its defense that attack still hurt as AJ speaks.
"Use Swords Dance again!" AJ calls Sandshrew sharply increases its attack power again as Ash speaks.
"Magikarp use Bounce!" Ash calls Magikarp leaps into the air it quickly charges its attack and starts to falling towards Sandshrew surprising AJ as he speaks.
"Usually when using bounce the user takes a while to charge but I guess his Magikarp perfected the move, so it doesn't need charge time anymore" AJ thinks to himself as he calls for his next command.
"Counter with Strength!" AJ calls Sandshrew bulks up its body and raises its right fist as it and Magickarp collide.
"KARP!" "SHREW!" Both Pokémon yell as they try to push the other away, but Sandshrew ultimately wins the exchange punching Magikarp on the battlefield as AJ speaks.
"Now use Fury Cutter!" AJ calls Sandshrew's claws glow a shining crimson red and hits Magikarp knocking it a few feet away as Ash speaks.
"Magikarp!" Ash yells in concern. Magikarp groans in pain from taking another strong hit but the fish Pokémon gets up again despite the damage it took Magikarp begins to happily hop up and down its really enjoying the battle as Ash smiles and speaks.
"Whew that endurance training with Brock really helped, now it's time to counter" Ash thinks to himself as he calls out for Magikarp's next attack.
"Use Hydro Pump!" Ash calls Magikarp quickly shoots out the stream of water this one is faster and more powerful than the first one. Neither AJ nor Sandshrew are worried as AJ speaks.
"Heh, we have some good endurance too, Sandshrew use Strength and cancel out that Hydro Pump!" AJ calls Sandshrew quickly bulks up it holds both of its hands forward and takes the Hydro Pump head on as Misty speaks.
"That's one tough Sandshrew" Misty says with Brock nodding he then looks at his own Sandshrew who's completely engrossed in the battle. Back on the battlefield Ash looks at Magikarp and speaks.
"Come on Magikarp put more power into it!" "Pika!" Ash and Pikachu cheer for Magickarp. The fish hears their cheers and begins increasing the output of the move as AJ speaks.
"Come on Sandshrew cancel out that water you can do it!" AJ yells throwing his whip away and encouraging Sandshrew.
"SHREW!" Sandshrew screams with all its might and successfully cancels out Magikarp's Hydro Pump shocking everyone Sandshrew lets out a few huffs and waits for AJ's next command as the boy speaks.
"Good job Sandshrew I knew you could do it now Rapid Spin!" AJ calls Sandshrew begins to spin fast and hits the shocked Magikarp in the face as AJ calls for his next move.
"Now Fury Cutter!" AJ calls Sandshrew covers its claws in a crimson red then jumps forward going to hit Magikarp but Ash quickly calls out his next move.
"Use Hydro Pump again!" Ash calls Magikarp quickly opens its eyes and fires the move hitting Sandshrew as the ground mouse is drenched in water it lands back on the battlefield. It groans in pain but stands back up as Ash speaks.
"Now use Bounce!" Ash calls Magickarp glows blue then quickly shoots forward at Sandshrew and smacks the ground mouse across the face with its tail knocking Sandshrew back as AJ speaks.
"Use Slash!" AJ calls Sandshrew quickly jumps forward and slashes Magikarp, Magikarp is knocked back, but it isn't ready to give up yet as Ash speaks.
"Use Tackle!" Ash calls Magikarp shoots forward and hits Sandshrew hard in the abdomen with Sandshrew groaning in pain as AJ speaks.
"Use Swords Dance then Strength!" AJ yells as Sandshrew yells too. The ground mouse increases its attack to the max and punches Magikarp hard in the face and stomach. The fish groans in pain, but it won't give up as Ash speaks.
"Use Bounce!" Ash calls Magikarp glows blue but instead of flying up Magikarp quickly shoots forward and hits Sandshrew again causing damage and successfully paralyzes the ground mouse. AJ then smiles and speaks.
"Heh it's now my win Ash Sandshrew use Façade!" AJ yells as Sandshrew's eyes grow red and punches Magikarp hard in the stomach making the fish cough. Macikarp's knocked back down on the battlefield and creates a crater surprising Ash and Pikachu. Off to the side Misty speaks.
"What's façade Brock?" Misty asks as Brock speaks.
"It's a move that strengthens the Pokémon's attack more when it's under a status condition" Brock responds with Misty nodding as she speaks.
"Do you think Magicarp can still battle?" Misty asks as Brock speaks.
"Hmmm even though its endurance has increased a lot and it's unusually tough for its species not a lot of Pokémon can take an attack from a maxxed out Sword's dance and a Façade" Brock answers having a frown on his face with Misty getting worried. Back on the battlefield AJ smiles and speaks.
"You hear that Ash your Magikarp is tough, but I doubt it's able to still battle its over me and Sandshrew have won" AJ says happily but he then notices Ash smiling as well and giving a small chuckle making AJ annoyed as he speaks.
"What's so funny?!" AJ asks in annoyance as Ash looks at him.
"Oh, nothing just that you think that was enough to take out my Magikarp" Ash responds and as soon as he said that Magikarp immediately jumps out from the crater and is still ready to battle surprising everyone except Ash and Pikachu as AJ speaks.
"But that's impossible it should be knocked out how is it still ready to battle?!" AJ asks in a shocked tone with his Sandshrew's begin surprised as Ash speaks.
"I don't know why but my Magikarp ever since I used it against Team Rocket, I feel it has this desire to not lose and prove that it's the strongest Magikarp after using it more and more I can feel Magikarp's desire of wanting to get stronger and once it beats your Sandshrew it would finally achieve its dream!" Ash states as Magikarp nods as what Ash said is right AJ then speaks.
"Well in that case my Sandshrew's dream is to be the strongest Sandshrew and we're not going to lose to a Magikarp right Sandshrew!" AJ says as the ground mouse lets out a loud "SHREW "in agreement saying that it'll win. Ash then smiles and speaks.
"Then let's end this battle Magikarp use Tackle!" Ash calls Magickarp lets out a loud "KARP" and shoots forward as AJ speaks.
"Sandshrew counter with Strength!" AJ calls Sandshrew lets out a loud "SHREW" it quickly bulks up its body and shoots forward. Sandshrew points its right fist forward as it and Magikarp's head collide creating an explosion blowing the two mons back showing that they're now equal in strength. AJ's getting frustrated as he speaks.
"This is ridiculous use Fissure!" AJ calls Sandshrew roar as it punches its right fist on the ground creating a large crack on the battlefield that heads for Magikarp as Ash speaks.
"Jump and use Bounce!" Ash calls Magikarp quickly glows blue and jumps in the air dodging a fissure. Magikarp quickly charges its bounce and heads straight for Sandshrew as AJ speaks.
"Counter with Façade!" AJ yells Sandshrew feels some effect from the paralysis but shakes it off using façade and colliding with Magikarp's bounce creating a big shockwave. The two Pokémon are trying their hardest to push their opponent away but neither one is giving an inch they keep going as Ash and AJ speak.
"Use multiple Fury Cutters!" AJ yells "Counter with Flail!" Ash yell's both Pokémon roar as they then get in a close quarters battle with each one doing significant damage to the other. Sandshrew and Magikarp collide a few more times until they break away from each other and give a few huffs with their trainers doing the same. When AJ's done panting, he looks at Sandshrew and speaks.
"Sandshrew it's time we end this charge up your strongest Strength attack!" AJ yell's as Sandshrew begins to charge up its move Ash calls for a command.
"Magikarp charge up your final Hydro Pump!" Ash yells as Magikarp begins to charge its last Hydro Pump making sure it's the strongest one. The two mons keep charging their moves until they feel ready as Ash and AJ yell.
"FIRE!" Both trainers yell as Sandshrew dashes forward while Magikarp fires its Hydro Pump to everyone's surprise Sandshrew doesn't block the attack instead it dives in and starts to swim towards Magikarp surprising everyone as Ash speaks.
"What the?" Ash says with a shocked expression as AJ smiles and speaks.
"I told you Ash me and Sandshrew trained hard to work on its water weakness, come on Sandshrew keep going!" AJ commands as Sandshrew continues to swim getting closer to Magikarp as Ash speaks.
"Come on Magikarp you can do this I believe in you Misty and Brock believe in all of our Pokémon believe in you now LET OUT ALL YOUR POWER!" Ash yells as Magikarp is happy to hear those words from Ash, at that moment Sandshrew jumps out of the Hydro Pump it's about to hit Magikarp but the fish takes a deep breath and fires another Hydro Pump this being its 5th Sandshrew is completely consumed in the water and is sent flying going pass AJ and hitting a fence then falls on the ground heavily damaged as AJ speaks.
"Sandshrew get up I know you can do it!" AJ says pleading as Sandshrew does get up it takes one step smiles then falls in defeat making Ash and Magikarp the winners.
"YEAH!" "PIKA!" "KARP!" Ash, Pikachu and Magikarp cheer in victory as do Brock and Misty, AJ is shocked he's angry that he lost but at the same time he feels satisfied he also feels that Sandshrew feels the same way he walks off the battlefield and picks up the little ground mouse.
"Thank you Sandshrew we may not have won but it was a really great battle you really did your best" AJ says as he hugs Sandshrew as Sandshrew gives a small "shrew" in agreement. Ash along with Pikachu run to the battlefield Ash picks up Magikarp and speaks.
"That's amazing Magikarp you're now able to use Hydro Pump 5 times!" Ash says happily while holding the fish in the air as Magikarp smiles and lets out a "Karp". Misty, Brock and Brock's Sandshrew run on the battlefield when they're close enough Misty speaks.
"That was an amazing battle Ash" Misty says as Brock speaks.
"Yeah, I was certain that Magikarp would go down after the first façade hit but it proved me wrong" Brock says with Ash nodding as he speaks.
"Thanks guys!" Ash says having a smile on his face, he then sees AJ holding Sandshrew walk up to him. When AJ gets close enough Ash looks at him and speaks.
"Hey AJ, sorry about you not getting a hundred wins" Ash says with a sorrowful look as AJ speaks.
"Thanks, Ash but I honestly don't care about that anymore losing to you really opened up my eyes I've stayed in this place for too long there are many strong trainers and Pokémon out there and battling your Magickarp really showed me that any Pokémon with the right amount of training can be strong, so I've decided that I'm ready to finally start my journey and enter the Indigo League!" AJ says while smiling with everyone smiling as well making Ash excited as he speaks.
"That's great AJ that makes you another rival of mine so far I have Gary, Leaf, whoever that Damian kid is and Paul" Ash says while smiling, AJ gets a surprised look on his face when Ash mentioned Paul.
"Wait you've met Paul?" AJ asks the group who nod as Ash speaks.
"Yeah, I've met him a couple of times he battled Brock's and Misty's gyms and beat them pretty easily, did he battle you too?" Ash asks with AJ nodding as he speaks.
"Yes, he did battle me, but I beat him" AJ says shocking the gang.
"Wait you were able to beat Paul?!" The gang say having surprised looks on their faces as AJ speaks.
"Yeah, but if I'm being honest, it didn't feel like I truly beat him it felt like he lost to me on purpose" AJ says surprising the group even more as Brock speaks.
"Losing on purpose doesn't sound like Paul, he gave me a really good battle in my gym" Brock says as Misty speaks.
"Yeah, and like what Ash said earlier he defeated my sister Violet really easily with only his Turtwig did he use a different Pokémon when he battled you?" Misty asks as Ash speaks.
"I haven't battled him yet, but I agree he doesn't seem to be the type of trainer that would lose on purpose" Ash says as AJ speaks.
"Well to answer Misty's question he did use a different Pokémon instead of a Turtwig he used a small fire Pokémon called a Magby" AJ responds with the group nodding.
"Magby?" The group say Ash then looks up the Pokémon on his Pokedex.
"Magby, the Live Coal Pokémon. Magby is the pre-evolved form of Magmar. Despite its small size, it is a tough opponent and produces an extremely hot flame..." The Pokedex says as Ash speaks.
"Hmmm I wonder why Paul would allow his Magby to lose?" Ash wonders as AJ speaks.
"After he lost, I asked him, and he said that he just wanted to see how much Magby could take before fainting, but even though he lost that Magby was still really tough" AJ says as the group speak.
"Weird" The 3 trainers say as Ash speaks.
"Well, if I see him next, I'll try battling him" Ash says while having a determined look on his face as AJ speaks.
"Yeah, I want to see him again too and battle him at his best" AJ says also having a determined look on his face as Ash speaks.
"Sorry but that's going to be me" Ash responds back to AJ. The two boys look at each other having determination in their eyes and after a while the two then laugh.
For the rest of the day AJ showcased how he trained his Pokémon Ash didn't exactly agree with AJ's training methods but lets it go when he learns that AJ's Pokémon love the training. The group let out their Pokémon with Ash and AJ's mons having a few sparring matches, Brock's Sandshrew goes up to AJ's Sandshrew and ask for tips on how to get stronger. AJ's Sandshrew enlightens Brock's telling it many ways that can help Brock's Sandshrew making the ground mouse happy. AJ then learns who Ash's father is and gets really excited apparently AJ is a big fan of Red and wants Ash to introduce him too Red someday. Ash told AJ that he'll try but it's hard to get in contact with his father since he's always busy.
It's now the next morning AJ allowed the gang to sleep in his gym for the night and it's now time for him to set off as Ash speaks.
"Good luck on your gym battles AJ" Ash says shaking the boy's hand as AJ speaks.
"Thanks, you to Ash let's meet each other again in the Indigo League and I won't lose next time" AJ says with Ash giving a nod that says he won't lose either as Misty speaks.
"The closes gyms would be my family's gym in Cerulean City and Brock's gym in Pewter" Misty says as Brock speaks.
"My dad and Misty's sister are pretty tough I'm sure they'll give you a great challenge" Brock says with AJ nodding. With that AJ leaves and goes in the opposite direction of the group they all say bye to each other and continue to walk. Meanwhile very hidden in the bushes we see Jessie, James and Meowth as Meowth speaks.
"Geez that's one strong Magikarp" Meowth says with Jessie and James nodding as Jessie speaks.
"Yeah, but this is good it'll help with the bosses plan" Jessie responded with Meowth nodding as James speaks.
"Don't you two think this is a little weird?" James asks with Jessie and Meowth looking back annoyed that he asked that question as Jessie speaks.
"Of course, it's weird but if we don't do this you remember what will happen to us right?!" jessie says in a stern tone with James nodding as he speaks.
"Yes, I remember it's just that ever since we've started stalking the kid and his friends, I've been getting a really bad feeling building up inside of me what if the boss and the other members hurt the Twerps and what if the boss is lying about this "second chance" and we still end up going to prison anyway" James responds in a worry tone making Jessie a little worried as well as Meowth speaks.
"Eh I wouldn't worry about it Jimmy besides I doubt the boss is going to hurt kids he's evil but not that evil all he wants is Red Ketchum and probably steal his Pokémon so that our organization becomes even stronger. I'm also pretty sure he'll keep his promise as well and not send us to the slammer" Meowth states with James nodding his head in agreement but he's still worried. Jessie then notices the gang getting further away and speaks.
"Any way their getting away come on" Jessie says with James and Meowth nodding they quickly get in their hot air balloon and continue to follow Ash, Misty and Brock.
It's been 3 days since the group left AJ's gym they are currently walking through the forest in a deep fog. Misty looks at Brock and speaks.
"Brock are you sure this is the right way?" Misty asks in a scared tone as Brock speaks.
"Yep, the map says to go this way" Brock responds with Misty nodding as she speaks.
"Okay I just hope nothing scary comes out" Misty says she continues walking until she bumps into Ash's back who suddenly stopped walking and begins to groan making Misty and Brock concerned as Misty speaks.
"Ash, are you feeling alright?" Misty asks with Brock and Pikachu looking at the boy as he speaks.
"Uh I feel really weird guys" Ash responds as Brock speaks.
"Do you have a stomachache?" Brock asks as Ash shakes his head no.
"No, it's my face it feels weird" Ash responds making Misty, Brock and Pikachu worried as the two kids speak.
"Well let's see" Misty and Brock say as Ash quickly turns around (having a skull on his face) and gives a loud "BWAHHHHHHH!" causing everyone to scream as Ash laughs.
"Hahahahahaha I got you guys good hahahaha" Ash says as he continues to laugh making Misty and Brock mad as they yell.
"WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU!" Misty and Brock yell in anger as Pikachu shocks Ash with a Thunderbolt making the boy yell out in pain. A few seconds later Ash looks at his friends and speaks.
"Sorry guys I thought I'd have a little bit of fun" Ash says as he tries to get up while groaning from the shock Pikachu gave him as Misty speaks.
"We understand that Ash but we're in the middle of a fog and we don't know what could be out here" Misty says with Ash nodding apologetically as Brock speaks.
"Well, I guess it's time we take a break" Brock says as he pulls out a table and a bunch of kitchen supplies from his backpack shocking Ash and Misty, they've seen him do this ever since he started travelling with them, but it still surprises them. Brock looks at Ash and Misty who've confused looks on their faces and speaks.
"Hmm something wrong?" Brock asks as Ash and Misty speak.
"Oh nothing" Ash and Misty respond as they along with Pikachu help to set up the table. 5 minutes later as they're almost done setting up the table Brock notices that they're low on firewood and speaks.
"Let's see looks like we need more firewood who wants to go get it?" Brock asks and looks back at his two friends wondering which one of them will get the firewood as Misty quickly speaks.
"I volunteer to stay and help you" Misty quickly states surprising Ash.
"Wait that means I've to go out in the fog and find firewood?!" Ash says in a scared tone with both Brock and Misty nodding their heads Ash sighs then accepts. Ash and Pikachu then head out in the woods to look for firewood.
10 minutes have passed both Ash and Pikachu have gathered enough firewood and are heading back to camp they were almost there but Ash notices something.
"What's that?" Ash says as he and Pikachu begin to walk toward the flame, they walk a little closer then hide behind a bush and see four kids on the side holding candles while another is kid running on the treadmill. There's also another kid in front of the treadmill holding cards in front of the boy that's running and speaks.
"Okay Joe who's this Pokémon?" The boy asks as he's showing the picture of a bird like Pokémon on a card to Joe.
"It's a Pidgey" Joe says tiredly as another boy speaks.
"Correct and what level does it evolve into Pidgeotto?" The boy asks as Joe speaks.
"It evolves into Pidgeotto at level 16" Joe responds.
"Wrong! Pidgey evolves into Pidgeotto at level 18 you fail again Joe" The boy holding the card states as he stops Joe's treadmill causing Joe to fall on the ground. When that happens, the boys laugh but this makes Ash and Pikachu angry as Ash yells.
"Hey!" Ash yells as he and Pikachu run toward the boys.
"What was that for just because he got a question wrong doesn't mean you need to treat him like that!" Ash states in anger while Pikachu sparks his cheeks. The other boys look at each other, give a shrug and leave Ash and Joe. Ash and Pikachu quickly run over to Joe when they make it Ash speaks.
"Are you okay?" Ash asks while he helps stand up Joe speaks.
"Yeah, thank you" Joe responds with Ash nodding as they then hear a voice.
"Ash, Pikachu!" Misty's and Brock's voices echo as they quickly run over to Ash and Joe. When they make it, Ash looks at them and speaks.
"Hey guys" Ash says having a smile on his face as Misty speaks.
"Ash, do you know how worried we were what were you doing?!" Misty asks in anger with a hint of worry in her voice. Ash then explains what happened shocking Brock and Misty. After that they also introduce themselves to Joe and learn about Pokémon Tech as Brock speaks.
"So, the way those other boys were treating you is because it's to strengthen your body and the school allows you to enter the Pokémon League without getting badges?" Brock asks with Joe nodding as he speaks.
"Yep, that's the reason" Joe replies as Ash speaks.
"I don't like this who's in charge?! I want to talk to them" Ash asks having a serious look on his face. Meanwhile in the background Pikachu's playing with the treadmill while the humans are talking. Joe then takes out a picture to show everyone who the person in charge is. When he shows them the picture, they see a young girl around Ash and Misty's age with long dark brown hair and wearing a school uniform.
"This is Giselle" Joe says, Ash looks at the girl and begins to blush a little bit Misty notices as Brock says that she looks cute but is way too young for him. Misty looks at Joe and speaks.
"Joe why do you have a picture of her if she's so mean to you?" Misty asks as Joe speaks.
"I may not like her as a person, but I would be lying too myself if I didn't think she's pretty" Joe responds with Ash nodding in agreement with Misty getting even more annoyed.
"Well, I don't approve of her methods I'm going to give this Giselle girl a piece of my mind!" Misty announces angerly. When she says that the fog then clears, the gang can see the school they enter it, and Joe gives them a tour. There are classrooms, a battlefield, an indoor pool, cafeteria, and a gaming room for the students to test out their skills in battle. Joe walks over to a simulator sits in the chair and speaks.
"You see in this battle simulator it allows us to try our hand in a Pokémon battle Giselle is the best out of all of us being able to beat everyone" Joe says as he begins to play until he defeats the opponent. Joe then looks at the gang and speaks.
"See this simulator is able to teach us what types are super effective against each other and how to win" Joe says with a smile he looks back at the gang, but they aren't impressed as Ash speaks.
"This is cool Joe but in a real battle you never know what's going to happen" Ash says, with Brock and Misty nodding in agreement as Joe speaks.
"If that's true then how about we battle I'm sure I'll be able to win" Joe states with confidence in his voice as Misty speaks.
"Alright I'll take you on I'm one of the gym leaders of Cerulean City all of my water Pokémon are tough" Misty says as Joe speaks.
"Sounds good to me I've beaten the Cerulean simulation multiple times I'll win easy" Joe states having a confident look on his face. Misty gets slighty annoyed but calms herself down as they then head to the battlefield. When they make it Misty and Joe are standing on opposite sides as they both send out their Pokémon.
"Go Starmie!" Misty calls sending in the Star fish Pokémon.
"Go Weepenbell!" Joe calls as a big plant like Pokémon that looks like Bellsprout appears Ash scans it with his Pokedex.
"Weepinbell, the Flycatcher Pokémon. Weepinbell looks like a plant and covers opponents with a poisonous powder in order to catch them." The Pokedex says as Joe speaks.
"Alright Weepinbell use Razor Leaf!" Joe calls Weepinbell fires the razor-sharp leaves at Starmie as Misty speaks.
"Use Psychic" Misty calls Starmie fires Psychic waves stopping the leaf's and sending the Leaf's back to Weepinbell which in turn knocks it out instantly surprising Joe as he speaks.
"But how the simulation said that I would be able to win?!" Joe says in shock as Misty speaks.
"It's like what Ash said earlier Pokémon battles in real life are different than ones in a simulation it doesn't matter if your Pokémon has the advantage when it comes to type the opposing Pokémon and trainer will know moves or think of a strategy to defeat you" Misty says smiling at Joe which opens up Joe's eyes the group then hear a girls voice they turn to the right and see Giselle as she speaks.
"That girl from the Cerulean Gym is right Joe, she's been training and battling ever since she was young you still have a long way to go, you still lack in your studies and it's very painful to see" Giselle says with a smiling as Ash speaks.
"Whoa she's even cuter in person" Ash says with a small blush while Misty glares at him in annoyance.
"He never called me cute" Misty thinks to herself as Giselle speaks.
"Yes, the top student in Pokémon Tech the schools brightest star they've said I'm as beautiful as the gods yes, it is me Giselle" Giselle says the boys from earlier appear and start clapping for her while Misty rolls her eyes, Giselle then walks over to Joe.
"You know Joe I consider everyone here in this school to be a rival but what you just showcased gravely disappointed me a goddess so you should leave this school if you can't keep up" Giselle says shocking Joe making him sad as Giselle begins to walk away Misty speaks.
"Hold it right there I'm not going to let you pick on Joe battle me right here right now!" Misty says, making Giselle smirk as Ash looks at Brock and speaks.
"Um should I do something Brock?" Ash asks as Brock speaks.
"Trust me Ash you do not want to get into a fight between girls" Brock responds with Ash nodding in understanding as they continue to look forward. They see Giselle make it to her battle position, she takes out a Pokeball and speaks.
"Okay I'll accept your challenge Graveler Go!" Giselle says she throws the Pokeball gracefully as what comes out is a Pokémon that looks like a bigger version of Geodude and has four arms. The has an excited look on its face ready to battle as Brock speaks.
"A rock/ground type like Graveler should be at a disadvantage but I can tell just by looking at it that it's strong" Brock says as Misty gets a serious look and calls for her first move.
"Starmie Water Gun!" Misty calls Starmie quickly fires the stream of water as Giselle speaks.
"Use Rollout" Giselle says calmly as the big rock Pokémon begins to roll forward easily splashing away the water and slamming into Starmie knocking it back a little as Misty speaks.
"Stay strong Starmie and use Psychic!" Misty calls Starmie nods as it launches out Psychic waves that pick up Graveler and immediately slams it down on the ground. Giselle isn't concerned as she calls for her next command.
"Use Mudslap!" Giselle calls, Graveler throws mud around Starmie's jewel slightly covering it as Misty speaks.
"It's okay Starmie wipe that mud away with Water Gun!" Misty calls but Giselle quickly calls her next attack.
"Use Thunder Punch" Giselle says shocking Misty, Graveler runs to Starmie while charging its fists in electricity then punches Starmie. The Star fish is sent flying going out the window and landing into the pool. Misty, Ash, Brock and Joe quickly run out while Giselle gives a slight chuckle. When they make it Misty quickly grabs Starmie out of the pull and speaks to it.
"Starmie are you okay?" Misty asks the Star fish as Starmie blinks its jewel a few times showcasing its fine Misty then returns Starmie. Giselle then appears, looks at Misty and speaks.
"If you have any more water Pokémon for me to battle and beat I'll gladly accept" Giselle says in a mocking tone causing Misty to get mad Giselle then looks at Joe.
"You see Joe it's like they told you before type match ups don't always matter if you have the right strategy and always using stronger Pokémon you'll be guaranteed to win" Giselle says as Joe nods Giselle then looks at Misty.
"You're really the gym leader of Cerulean City? I must say you're weak" Giselle says in a mocking tone before Misty could say anything Ash speaks up.
"I may think you're cute but I'm not going to let you talk down to my friend" Ash says with a serious expression as Giselle speaks.
"And you are?" Giselle asks as Ash speaks.
"My name is Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town I currently have 2 badges and I fought really hard to get them. Misty gave me a really good battle at the gym so I'm not going to let you disregard her skills as a trainer!" Ash states looking directly at Giselle, Misty is a little surprised she knew her, and Ash were friends, but she never knew he cared this much for her. Giselle then scoffs and speaks.
"Tell me Ash how long have you been on your journey?" Giselle asks curiously as Ash thinks for a little bit then speaks.
"Um about 2 months" Ash responds causing Giselle to gasp.
"2 months and you only have 2 badges? Not only that you don't keep your Pikachu outside of its Pokeball? You have the signs of a weak trainer" Giselle says while she shakes her head in disappointment Ash speaks.
"Well, my Pikachu doesn't like being in his Pokeball its also pretty fun have him out to traveling with and if you think I'm a weak trainer I'll prove you wrong" Ash says in an angry tone making Giselle curious as she speaks.
"Hmmm I really wanted to continue to humiliate your friend over there, but I guess I'll show just how superior I am to you Go Cubone!" Giselle says she throws out a Pokeball as what comes out is a small dinosaur like Pokémon with a bone mask covering its face. Ash then looks at Pikachu and speaks.
"Pikachu, I choose you!" Ash calls Pikachu nods as jumps into battlefield and begins sparking its cheeks. Giselle's surprised by Ash's choice as she speaks.
"Really you're using an electric type on a ground type? that Pikachu of yours looks really weak there's no way it'll beat my Cubone and besides I'm a trainer who's qualified to have 3 badges you can't beat me" Giselle says with a hint of arrogance in her voice as Ash speaks.
"Heh you shouldn't underestimate my Pikachu it's really strong and besides just because you're qualified to have 3 badges doesn't mean anything to me because I'm going to win!" Ash states with a confident look with Brock, Misty and Joe smiling as well. Giselle smirks then speaks.
"Heh we'll see Cubone use Headbutt!" Giselle calls Cubone dashes forward at Pikachu going to hit it as Ash speaks.
"Counter with Iron Tail!" Ash calls Pikachu quickly charges its tail it then collides with Cubone's headbutt the two Pokémon struggle back and forth a little bit to see who's more dominant, but Pikachu's Iron tail wins the exchange and knocks Cubone back a few feet and groaning a little in pain. Giselle's a little surprised then speaks.
"Heh I'll admit your Pikachu is certainly strong, but my Cubone is at a higher level than your Pikachu, so I'll end this with my next move use Earthquake!" Giselle calls Cubone stomps its foot on the ground causing everything to shake Ash quickly calls for a command.
"Pikachu jump then use Quick Attack" Ash calls, before the Earthquake could do any more damage to Pikachu the yellow mouse jumps and quickly zooms at Cubone hitting it and making Cubone stop its attack surprising Giselle.
"Okay let's see you counter this Cubone use Boomerang!" Giselle calls Cubone throws its bone at Pikachu successfully hitting the yellow mouse in the face. The bone then turns around and is about to hit Pikachu again Ash gets an idea.
"Pikachu hide behind Cubone!" Ash calls surprising Giselle as Pikachu jumps over Cubone and gets behind. Cubone then gets hit in the head with its own bone causing some damage. Ash then calls for his final command.
"Now use Iron Tail!" Ash calls Pikachu charges up its tail and hits Cubone on the head knocking it out.
"Cubone!" Giselle yells in concern as she quickly goes to check on it. When Giselle makes it, she gently lifts up Cubone's head asking if it's okay. Cubone looks at her and nods making Giselle smile as she returns it to its Pokeball. Giselle gets a sad look on her face as she looks at Ash and speaks.
"How could I lose? I'm the top of my class, I'm qualified to have 3 badges, please tell me" Giselle says as she's about to cry Ash looks at her and speaks.
"It's true you're a really strong and smart trainer but when it comes to battling there's more to it than just battle and strategy you should also have a strong bond with your Pokémon" Ash responds as Giselle speaks.
"A bond?" Giselle questions with Ash nodding as he continues.
"Yep, a bond my dad always told me that forming a bond with your Pokémon is a great thing. Not only does it make them stronger, your able to understand them and become great friends. I consider all the Pokémon I have with me to be friends and I'll do the same for other Pokémon I catch in the future. I can tell that you also care for your Pokémon as well I hope I was able to teach you something and hope we battle again one day" Ash says while smiling at Giselle and petting Pikachu.
Giselle looks at Ash and Pikachu, she sees how much fun they're and begins to wonder if she can do the same with her Pokémon. As Giselle keeps looking at them, she takes in Ash's appearance his spiky raven hair and that confident look. Giselle is now noticing just how handsome Ash is, Giselle blushes then quickly hides it, so Ash doesn't see it but all it does is make everyone look at her becoming confused as Ash speaks.
"Is something wrong Giselle?" Ash asks, Giselle then walks toward Ash grabs his hand and what she says shocks everyone.
"Oh, Ash my dashing prince thank you for teaching me an important lesson on Pokémon now I'll ask this question please be my boyfriend" Giselle says with hearts in her eyes shocking everyone.
"WHAT?!" Everyone exclaims while having shocked expressions on their faces as Ash speaks.
"Boyfriend me? Ash asks while pointing to himself with Giselle nodding as she speaks.
"Yes, you you're the perfect boy for me you may have only started your journey 2 months ago, but you are already so knowledgeable I just know you'll teach me more so please be my boyfriend and let me come along on your journey" Giselle says with a pleading look in her eyes staring at Ash making the boy confused and Misty fuming in anger as Ash speaks.
"I… uhh…..." Ash stutters his words with Giselle still looking at Ash hoping he says yes, Misty then walks between them and yells.
"NO WAY WE'RE NOT LOOKING FOR ANYMORE GIRLS (Other than Leaf) TO JOIN OUR GROUP!" Misty yells, making Giselle pout she looks at Misty and speaks.
"Hey, I wasn't asking you I was talking to Ashy Kins" Giselle says in an angry tone as Ash and Misty speak.
"ASHY KINS?!" Ash and Misty say in surprise with Pikachu laughing hysterically in the background as Giselle continues to speak.
"That's right Ashy kins is a perfect nickname for my soon to be boyfriend" Giselle says happily while looking at Ash as Misty speaks.
"HE'S NOT YOUR BOYFIREND!" Misty yells in anger as Giselle looks at her.
"Why do you care? Gasp Don't tell me you have feelings for Ashy Kins as well" Giselle says with a shocked look making Misty blush profusely as she speaks.
"NO WAY WHY WOULD I HAVE FEELINGS FOR SOMEONE WHO DESTROYED MY BIKE!" Misty yells making Ash remember accidentally destroying Misty bike then faces palms as Misty continues to speak.
"Besides this group only needs one girl and that's me (But I would be okay with Leaf joining)" Misty says and thinks about that last comment to herself as Giselle speaks.
"Oh, please don't lie to yourself it's obvious you like him, but it is me who will win my dashing princes heart in the end besides I already proved that I'm the more superior battler than you" Giselle says with a smile and a hit of arrogance as Misty speaks.
"You stronger than me? Hahahahaha I wasn't even serious I can beat you with my eyes closed" Misty says in a mocking tone making Giselle mad. After that both girls begin to argue Ash looks over to Brock for help as the tall teen walks over and the two boys begin to whisper to each other as Ash speaks.
"Brock what do I do sure I think she's cute, but I'm not interested in being her boyfriend." Ash asks as Brock speaks.
"Well Ash it's going to be hard, but I think it's best for you to turn her down it's hard I know but I feel if she joins us our group well fall apart with all the constant fighting between them" Brock responds, Ash nods he does a nervous gulp as he walks up to the two arguing girls. When Ash gets close enough Misty and Giselle look at Ash and wonder what he's going to say as the boy speaks.
"Hey Misty, can me and Giselle have some space" Ash asks as Misty nods and walks away. Giselle looks at Ash and speaks.
"Yes, Ashy Kins?" Giselle asks having a curious look on her face as Ash speaks.
"Uh I have an answer on whether I'll be your boyfriend and let you join our group" Ash speaks in a nervous tone as Giselle speaks.
"Gasp does this mean you'll accept my love for you and let me join you?!" Giselle asks while having a happy look on her face. Ash then takes a deep breath looks at Giselle and speaks.
"Sigh sorry Giselle but no while I do think your pretty, I'm just not interested in having a girlfriend right now and I think it'll be more beneficial for you to go on your own journey than join our group I think you'll enjoy it more since I don't want you and Misty to constantly argue hehehe" Ash responds with a small chuckle making Giselle sad as she speaks.
"So, you really don't want to be my boyfriend or let me join your group?" Giselle asks in a sad tone.
"Yes, that's right and I'm sorry. But we can still be friends and I'll help you out every now and then" Ash says while smiling Giselle looks at Ash, she has a sad look on her face then speaks.
"I see I understand Ah having my heart broken is painful, but it honestly makes me like you even more" Giselle says while smiling surprising Ash as he speaks.
"So does this mean we can be friends?" Ash asks as Giselle speaks.
"Yep, we can be friends, rivals and one day I'll win your heart my prince" Giselle responds, Ash gets a little sweat drop at that last statement but is happy to have a new friend and rival.
"That's great I have another friend and rival!" Ash says happily with fire in his eyes as Giselle smiles, she then walks over to Joe and Misty telling both she's sorry with both kids nodding. Giselle then gets a mischievous smile on her face and whispers into Misty's ear.
"I haven't given up on making Ash my boyfriend I'll be sure to win love rival, so you better hurry and tell him how you feel because I'll be the one to win" Giselle says making Misty blush profusely with steam coming out of her ears she wants to make a retort but can't. Ash looks at Misty he walks over to her and speaks.
"Hey Misty, your face is all red what's wrong" Ash asks curiously making Misty blush more as she yells.
"WE'RE LEAVING!" Misty yells as she grabs Ash's collar and forcefully pulls him out of Pokémon Tech as Ash speaks.
"Wait Misty we haven't said goodbye yet" Ash says trying to make Misty stop.
"I don't care we need to leave as soon as possible come on Brock and Pikachu!" Misty responds, Brock and Pikachu shake their heads and quickly run after Misty pulling Ash away as Giselle speaks.
"Goodbye Ashy Kins! I hope we meet again one day" Giselle yells as she waves goodbye to the group until they're out of view. Giselle then gets an excited look on her face she turns to her classmates and speaks.
"Listen up everyone I'm leaving Pokémon Tech to start my journey and win the Pokémon league (and also winning Ash's heart)" Giselle says shocking everyone, but they all support her Joe then walks up to her.
"Sounds great Giselle I'll start my journey as well and you'll need a bodyguard" Joe says with a confident smile with Giselle smiling and giving a chuckle.
"Thank you, Joe, traveling with you will surely be fun" Giselle says with Joe nodding as he speaks.
"So where should we go first?" Joe asks as Giselle speaks.
"Let's go take on the Cerulean and Pewter gyms first then head to Vermillion City I heard that there's going to be a Pokémon battle tournament on the SS. Anne in a few weeks (I'm sure Ash will be there too hehehe)" Giselle responds and thinks about that last part to herself making Joe excited as he speaks.
"Alright let's head out tomorrow morning it's getting late" Joe says with Giselle agreeing. The kids are excited to finally start their journey tomorrow.
Two days have passed since the gang left Pokémon tech; they are now in the middle of the forest, currently lost they decided to take a break. Misty has an annoyed look on her face as she looks at Brock and speaks.
"Geez Brock are you sure that maps right we haven't seen any civilization so far" Misty says in annoyance as Brock speaks.
"Trust me Misty the map knows the way" Brock responds while continuing to stare at the map making Misty groan as Ash speaks.
"I think I'm going to have a look around come on Pikachu" Ash announces with Pikachu climbing on his shoulder Misty and Brock nod, Ash doesn't go very far as he spots something that gets him excited.
"It's an Oddish!" Ash exclaims making Misty and Brock quickly turn with interest. Ash pulls out a Pokeball and speaks.
"Your mine Oddish go Poke-" As Ash was about to finish Misty gets in his way and speaks.
"Sorry Ash but I'm taking this one ever since I saw Samurai's I've really wanted an Oddish of my own Go! Pokeball!" Misty says as throws the ball forward making Ash mad as he speaks.
"Hey no fair!" Ash exclaims in anger. As the Pokeball sores through the air it's about to make contact with the plant Pokémon but a green whip comes out of nowhere knocking the Pokeball away surprising the group. The Pokémon then makes itself known it's a small green plant dinosaur like Pokémon with a Bulb on its back everyone is surprised then yell.
"IT'S A BULBASUAR!" The 3 kids exclaim while the plant dinosaur looks at them having an angry look on its face as the chapter comes to an end.
