Morning came quickly for the royal family, the first to wake up was Snowfall, lifting her head and shaking her body of tiredness. Then Crystal followed suit, with the rest of the family soon following them. "Morning you lot" Came a masculine voice, making the girls look towards where Snowheart was, making his way from the washroom while keeping the cotton towel against his scaled body. It suddenly slipped, exposing his still-wet body to his mother, sisters and mate, making them all blush at just how handsome the water made him. Yet little Mink was still asleep, snoring her little head off.
Snowheart looked to his left at his family, his father still asleep, yet noticed all the females of his family staring at him. "What?" His ear flicked while cocking his head to the side slightly, blinking in confusion as his tail flicked about. He was about to say something else when Icesheet laughed out, starting Frostbite and Mink awake, the latter tearing up before she began to cry, Glacier pulling her into her arms, singing a gentle tone to her. "Babe, please do calm down" Snowheart scolded Icesheet lightly, yet couldn't keep an angry expression while she stared at him with a loving smile, poking her tongue out at him.
"Yes, please do try to not scare my youngest daughter" Glacier sighed, holding a now once more sleeping Mink in her forearms, turning her head to look at Icesheet with a glare, which made the younger dragoness shut up quickly, she then turned her head to where Snowheart was standing. "So, today is the day son, you are going to show us Everything" She smirked while Snowheart paled.
"E-everything mother?" He questioned, wanting to see if he had heard her right, his ears flicking as he listened to Mink still cry, watching her little tears run down her cute face. "Mother, let me try" He held out his forearms, watching his Mother look at him, her eyes narrowing then widening as if studying her son before she let out a sigh.
"Alright son, here, just be very gentle with her, her scales are still soft" She told him, letting him take Mink from her forearms, where he started to pace slowly around the room on his hind paws, using his wings and tail to balance himself while he hummed the same soft tune to her that Glacier had hummed to him when he was little. Mink slowly calmed down, her eyes still full of tears, yet she was not crying loudly now as she just stared up at her brother, slowly reaching up with a tiny forepaw, opening her mouth to dhow her tiny razor sharp teeth which were still mostly under her gums.
"Hello little one" He removed his right forearm from under Mink, now holding her with his left wing and forearm as he let her hold onto a single claw as he pressed the claw gently against her, being extra careful to not hurt her. She let out a giggle when he started to tickle her, his tongue sticking out as he played around with his baby sister.
Meanwhile, his Mother and Soon-to-be-mate watched on, both proud of Snowheart, the former for being such a good Son and Brother, and the latter for showing that he would be an amazing Father. "He's very lucky to have you, you know" Glacier looked at Icesheet as she spoke, giving her soon-to-be daughter-in-law a pat on the shoulder, a genuine smile on her snout before she made her way up to her Son, hearing Mink giggling and squealing out in delight as Snowheart continued his gentle assault on her tummy. tickling at her as tears of joy flowed down her face.
"Okay Snowheart son, that's enough, I think you helped her" Glacier chuckled, taking back Mink gently as Snowheart smiled at his Mother.
"So, you want to see everything I have learnt?" Snowheart got back on topic, making his way towards the kitchen area, and moving around the counter while Glacier followed, carrying a now once more sleeping Mink in her forearms.
"Of course Son, it won't be any good if I can't see what my baby boy hasn't learnt right?" She questioned, her tail flicking about across the floor when Frostbite spoke up, having gotten out of bed as the tired lumbering King sighed.
"It's far too early dear, can we wait?" He received a smack across the head by a tail, and a good old scolding from his wife, listening to her talk about how he would be happy for his son.
"I am happy dear!" He chirped, shaking his head before he moved around her, smirking as he noticed she was looking at his muscular form. Snowheart noticed this too, opening his mouth to speak.
"Seems mother wants more dragonets" At this, Glacier's cheeks turned a dark blue, her eyes widening which made both males chuckle, holding in their laughter to not wake baby Mink up once more. Glacier then gently removed her right forearm from under Mink, holding the baby dragonet with just her left forearm as she gripped Frostbite's horn and pulled him down to her level, growling quietly in his ear.
"You and me are going to talk tonight" She then let go of her husband, allowing the larger King to go and get himself a cup of tea. Glacier looked down at Mink, a small smile spreading across her snout while Crystal and Snowfall got up, shaking their bodies of tiredness while Snowheart and Frostbite talked to each other.
"So, any idea what today's mock battles are going to be like son?" Frostbite questioned, giving his son a side glance as he continued to stir a single claw around in the cool water, letting out a huff before he lifted the cup up with both paws, turning to face his son before taking a sip, the refreshing smell of Peppermint filled his nostrils before he took another sip.
"Honestly Father, I'm not sure what Arctic and Icewave or any of the other Icewings have planned for me, I just hope I can make you guys happy with what I have learned" He turned to face his father, in the midst of cutting up some Narwhal meat when his father placed his cup down and hugged his son.
"Whatever happens, just remember, I'm very proud of you son, and I'm sure your Mother is proud of you as well" He continued to hug his son for a few more seconds before pulling away, gripping hold of his cup once more as his son stood there in shock, his tail and wings had stopped moving while he tried to process on what his father had said.
"You mean that dad?" He gave his rather worried yet hopeful look, holding his own cup of tea, the steam rising from it while his wings bobbed slightly, twitching about, he let out a sigh, looking towards where the rest of his family was as he heard his father talk.
"I mean, you have quite a few scars from training, see, right here" Snowheart felt Frostbite run a forepaw across his neck, a large old scar was still there from two years ago after a mock battle had gone wrong.
(FLASHBACK TIME)
Snowheart was standing before Arctic, and three other Icewings who were a bit smaller than him. Snowheart wasn't fully grown yet, meaning he was only a few heads smaller than Arctic.
"You ready kid?" Arctic called out to Snowheart, who in return gave a nod, holding a spear in hand, twirling it around before aiming it at the group, using his tail to tease the group, flicking it a few times as if telling them to come here.
One of the smaller Icewings charged at Snowheart, the snow crunching under her paws while she dashed to Snowheart's left, yet the Prince was quicker as he held up his spear to block her attack. The two spears collided before he started to push her back, pinning her against the icy wall of the Arena and lifting her which made her yelp, he suddenly felt a blow to his right, knocking him down before looking to see who his attacker was before noticing one of the other Icewings had hit him with the blunt end of their spear. Letting out a growl, Snowheart grabbed their spear, ripping it from their grasp and throwing it, making itself impale in the side of the arena wall. He then looked back at them, spinning around and catching them with his spiked tail, sending them crashing into one of the pillars in the area.
"Don't do that" Snowheart growled, flexing his wings before he got back into the action, looking around for the last Icewing, yet he felt a tap to his left which made him turn, his eyes locking onto Arctic who had his spear aimed at Snowheart and was at the start of thrusting it forwards, aimed it just to the side of Snowheart's neck as he thought it would miss the Prince's neck, yet his blood ran cold when Snowheart jerked backwards, making the edge of his neck slide into the line of fire of his spear.
There was nothing he could do as the icy silver spearhead sliced through the soft flesh of Snowheart's neck.
"No, Snowheart!" Arctic roared out, his spear by now impaled in the icy wall as Snowheart raised a forepaw to his neck, dabbing it before he pulled his paw away, his paw shaking as he noticed it was plastered with blue blood as the three Icewings he had been training with had rushed over to him with Arctic pressing his forepaws against Snowheart's neck.
"Hang on kid, stay with me!" Arctic had tears in his eyes while Snowheart lay on his back on the ground, becoming more and more dazed as more and more Icewings flooded the arena. "Move, Move aside!" Icewave cried out, rushing around the crowd of Icewings, a few Icewings, each one wearing a red armband were following them. Snowheart knew red armbands meant medical Icewings, yet he struggled to see as his vision slowly became more and more dark, the voices becoming more echoed, yet there was one voice he heard that he recognized.
"Baby, please don't die, Don't you dare!" Icesheet cried, and then, everything went black.
Ugh, what happened
"Hey kid, hey, wake up, come on"
W-whos that?
"Come on kid, you're alright, come on"
Is that... Arctic? What happened?
"Prince Snowheart? My name is Peppermint-
Peppermint? nice name
"If you can hear me, you got wounded by Arctic on accident, you're in the royal medical bay now"
What? Oh moons no, Mother can't find out. She'll stop my training!
"There you go, come on kid, that's it"
Snowheart let out a groan, fluttering his eyes open to notice that his vision was blurry as hell, yet slowly cleared up, his hearing wasn't screeching like metal screeching against metal.
"W-what happened? Where am I, ICESHEET!"
Arctic, Icewave and Peppermint all had to fight to keep the Prince down, holding him still to make sure he wouldn't reopen his wound. "Keep his head and neck still!" Peppermint ordered, pointing to Arctic who gave a nod, gently placing his forepaws on Snowheart's neck and head before using enough force to not hurt the Prince, but enough to hold him still. That was when Icesheet came crashing through the door.
"SNOWHEART!" She tried to leap at her lover, yet three other Icewings held her back. "General, you can't! His neck wound will open up if you jump on him!" One of them said as he and the other two guards held back their General. The guard who had just spoken grabbed hold of Icesheet's head and made her look at him.
"Calm down ma'am, please!" Her erratic eyes locked onto his, fear and worry flooding into her gorgeous eyes as she started to slowly calm herself down. "That's it, relax, he is going to be alright, but you need to remain calm" Icesheet listened to the guard speak, far too worried to even care about order or acting like the General she is meant to, not when her lover was just on his deathbed.
"Icesheet? Snowheart wants to talk to you" Icewave smiled lightly at her, moving away from a now calmed Snowheart, who had just been giving a bit of relaxing tea to make sure he wouldn't do anything stupid. Arctic was off to the side, head lowered in shame when Icewave butted up against him gently.
"It wasn't your fault you know, just an accident" "B-but I nearly killed him" Arctic muttered softly, letting out a sigh as he seemed to deflate, his wings wrapping around himself, as if he was trying to hide away from the shame, yet that didn't seem to work when Icewave let out a snort and pulled his wings away from him gently, rubbing up against him as she pressed her snout against his in a gentle touch.
"Stop blaming yourself, you big grump, I swear at times that you are a reincarnation of Prince Arctic himself" She rolled her eyes when he protested.
"I am not, I am Arcticstorm! Never forg-" He was cut off when Icewave pulled his head down and kissed him.
Meanwhile, Icesheet had calmed down enough and was now lying beside Snowheart, tears in her eyes as she saw first-hand just how long the wound was, for it stretched from the top of his neck, down to the base. A hiccup racked her body as more tears rolled down her face while she gently ran a paw down his neck.
"It's not that bad" Snowheart croaked softly, looking up to meet the pair of eyes which always brought him comfort. A smile crept across her snout when Icesheet suddenly, yet gently, hugged Snowheart, bursting into tears while making sure she wrapped her forepaws around his neck as tightly as she could without hurting him, not caring if any of the dry blue blood smeared over her scales.
By now both his parents had left to chat with Arctic and Icewave, leaving him alone with his sisters and Icesheet.
"Ooh, so that's how you got the scar?" Snowfall spoke, a claw tapping against her chin while Crystal tickled Mink's stomach, making the little dragonet giggle. Icesheet rubbed up beside Snowheart, letting out a sigh as she then fell into the hold of his forearms, lying on her back as she looked up at him with a smirk. She then raised a forepaw, brushing a few claws against the long scar which refused to go away, for the medical Icewings had said that it would heal, but never go away, leaving Snowheart with his first battle wound, even if it was just training.
Icewave and Arctic came in, a smile on both of their faces as Arctic called out to him. "You ready?" Snowheart gave a nod, letting go of Icesheet, gently laying her on the bed before he dismounted it, making his way over to the two when his sisters followed him, including Icesheet. "We want to watch!" Snowfall and Crystal both said at the same time, with the latter carrying Mink in a single forearm, similar to how Glacier carried Mink at times.
"Don't worry, I'll look after them" Icesheep said softly to Snowheart as they made their way down the long hallway and through the cafeteria, heading towards the Arena before they departed as Snowheart went towards the entrance to the Arena, his sisters and Icesheet went towards the overlooks.
The first thing to greet him was the strong sunlight, making him cover his eyes, trying to adjust to the light. Yet before he could, he heard his mother's voice. "Hello darling, I hope you are ready for your last training" His eyes widened as he could see, noticing his Mother in the arena. "Mother!" Snowheart squawked out, flapping his wings a few times while his Mother just stared at him with a neutral expression.
"Is something wrong son?" Glacier questioned, tilting her head while Snowheart started to pace, his tail lashing as his wings twitched, shaking his head while the snow under their paws crunched. "This is wrong, I-i can't fight you!" He suddenly was pinned against the wall of the arena, seeing the furious face of his Mother.
"Is it because I'm the Queen, Is it because I am your Mother! Or is it because you think I'm not worthy to fight you" She hissed, tail spikes rattling while Snowheart let out a huff. "It's not... that Mother! I... don't want to hurt you!" Glacier rolled her eyes, letting go of her son as she spoke.
"Son, I may be your Mother, but in reality, you should think of me as just another Icewing to train with. Now Get up!" She shook her head while grabbing a spear, and getting into an attack stance. Snowheart got up, shaking the snow from his scales before looking at his Mother who was on the other side of the Arena, his mouth agape as he watched how elegant she looked as she spun the spear around her before aiming it right at him.
Looking around, he at first couldn't find the racks of spears, yet when he looked over at his Mother's side, he noticed that someone had moved all of them on her side. (Fantastic) He thought to himself, yet jerked his head to the side in the nick of time as a spear came crashing into the wall of the arena. "Stop mooning around Snowheart!" Came his Mother's voice as he snapped his gaze from the spear stuck in the wall which was now broken in half and unusable, to his Mother who had just picked up another spear, seeing her now charging him. She then leapt into the air, spinning in a full one hundred and eighty degrees and smashed her tail into his chest, sending him crashing into the wall of the arena.
With the wind knocked out of him, Snowheart struggled to get up, he had been hit by Arctic's tail before, but it was nothing compared to the force of his Mother's tail. (By the stars that hurt!) He cried to himself as he forced himself to get up, only to receive a clenched forepaw to the snout, then another, and another.
"Why are you holding back Son? Why!" Glacier growled, continuing her relentless assault, only to finish by curling her tail around her son and flinging him along the Arena grounds. Despite his size, she was far stronger than he thought. "Get up Son!" Frostbite roared out from above while slamming his fist onto the railing that separated the watching dragons from the Arena grounds.
Hearing this, Snowheart forced himself up once more, some blood dripping from his snout and mouth as he spat some out onto the ground. Seeing that he was close to the racks of swords and spears, he attempted to rush towards them, yet grunted when he felt a blunt pain at his side, seeing his Mother had reached him and was now once more pinning him against the arena wall with the spear pressed lengthways against his neck. "Stop holding back, it will only get you killed!" H heard her roar out as she impaled her spear into his left forearm, making him scream out as blue blood oozed from the new wound. She then went to the rack, searching through the weapons, running her sharp claws along the blades of all of them while Snowheart struggled to rip the spear from his forepaw and the wall.
"You know son, I would have gone easy on you if you just held up some defence, but you had to leave yourself open to my attacks, which disappoints me deeply" Snowheart's ears lowered when he heard that his Mother was disappointed in him, and felt about ready to give up until he heard a voice he thought he would never hear. "Come on brober! Bight bat!" Mink cried out, snuggled against Crystal who, along with Icesheet and Snowfall, watched on with worried looks, a pleading expression on all their faces which lit a flame within Snowheart.
Letting out a snarl, he ripped the spear from his arm, aiming it roughly in his Mother's direction before throwing it at an impossible speed, yet it missed and slammed into the wall of the arena with such force it sent an array of cracks sprouting out from the impact basin. Everyone looked on as Snowheart began to charge at his mother, who had the gift of defence on, not the wall, but a necklace that was enchanted, allowing Glacier to have a much higher resistance to physical and improved protection against most attacks. Yet Snowheart didn't notice the necklace.
Letting out a roar he punched Glacier in the chest, sending her flying into one of the pillars with a loud crack, splitting the pillar as she fell, dazed from the power of the punch. (And he doesn't even have any enchanted improvements yet. By the moons!) She thought to herself, yet just as she was getting up, Snowheart grabbed hold of her only to slam her into another one of the many pillars due to the arena being very large.
(I decided to cut this part out due to not wanting to have Snowheart beat his mother too much, even if she has the gift of defence (((Yes, I know the wall is also called the gift of defence, but I found out the Icewings also have a necklace called that as well)))
Snowheart was tired, he let out a couple of loud pants, his eyes closed as he let himself recover from the relentless assault he had just put his Mother through, yet upon looking up at her, he noted that she only had a few cuts and a bleeding nose, other than that, she seemed intact compared to him, who had a right-wing which muscles were burning, and his tail which had numerous blooded wounds.
"Care to try again dear" Glacier smirked down at her son after she had used a recently discovered animus ring which allowed the wearer to heal themselves whenever they wanted.
"You talk too much Mother" He let out a snort, uppercutting her, before giving a series of rapid punches to her chest, only to finish by punching the side of her head into the wall behind her as hard as he could, partially knocking her out as he threw her to the ground, looking behind him, he saw one of the pillars before starting his way over to it, he punched a corner of the pillar of ice out, picking it up before dropping it onto his mother, the ice smashing into small pieces as they buried his mother partially.
With his body battered and bruised, he turned and started his slow and painful way back to the entrance of the arena, yet when he was halfway there, he heard movement behind him. "Leaving so soon Son!" he turned just in time to grab an incoming spear, throwing it to the ground before he began to rush towards his mother. The two met in the middle, both locking forepaws together, growling out as they pushed against each other.
"All I wanted was to see my Son finish his training, yet you only showed your little pathetic loving side, not Once did you show your angry tough side, so I decided to fight you myself! And I will say I am impressed, but I want you to know one thing before we finish this... I can't feel.. any of this!" She suddenly threw her Son into the wall once more, his right arm colliding with a broken pillar, a loud crack resonated out, making some Icewings wince while Snowheart lay dazed and beaten against the wall, going limp as blood dribbled from his nose, neck, tail, stomach and chest.
Glacier came up to where her son was, looking down at his blooded form, a neutral expression on her face while Snowheart looked up, blowing blood from his nose while he coughed up blood before he spoke. "Go on then Mother, finish me off, Isn't that what a Queen does when one of her children challenges her" A series of coughs rattled through his chest, sending more blood out of his mouth while Glacier continued to stare down at her defeated son, her eyes appearing to scan over him as she thought.
Lowering herself until she was lying on her side, she examined her son, letting out a sigh. "You did well Son if it wasn't for me wearing this-" She pulled the necklace over her head, showing him it. "Then I would have been defeated early into the fight" She laid it down in front of both of them before looking back up at her son, raising a forepaw to cup her Son's cheek gently, blood smearing over her beautiful scales as she smiled at her son, who in return smiled back, until a wave of violent coughs ripped through him.
Taking the ring off her, she grabbed hold of Snowheart's left paw, slipping the wing onto his smallest finger due to his paw being larger than hers. As soon as the ring slipped on, it's magic started to work, healing her son slowly who struggled to move, only to fall into the hold of his Mother. "M-mommy?" He whimpered softly, feeling her place a single claw against his lips as she held him gently while the rest of their family joined them.
"It's okay my little Snowflake, go to sleep, let the ring do its job" She had told the ring just before taking it off to heal her son, only thinking of it. Frostbite came to her side, looking down at the injured and blooded form of his son, he winced when he saw his broken right arm, rushing to hold back his daughters who begged to see him. "No girls, he is in bad shape, go back to the royal room" They all gave nods, yet Snowfall grumbled as she went away after Icesheet and Crystal.
"Do you think he is going to be okay?" Snowfall asked Icesheet, looking up at the larger Icewing who in turn looked down at her while they made their way down the hallway towards the royal bedroom.
"Honestly Snowfall, I'm not sure, but since the ring that Queen Glacier gave her Son is enchanted to heal anyone who wears it, he should be" Icesheet said, looking forward once more as she then forced the doors open, letting the smaller dragonesses in before she closed the doors behind them, making her way towards the kitchen. "Anyone hungry?" She asked the three Princesses, who all looked towards her from the large bed, each one of them nodding while Mink ran around in circles on the bed. "I'm hungy, I'm Hungy!" Icesheet chuckled at the overexcited dragonet, shaking her head as she started to cut up some seal meat with her claws, making sure to cut them into steak sizes, yet as she was doing so, she glanced down at her stomach, letting out a sigh as she rubbed her left forepaw against it.
"Are you pregnant?" Icesheet jumped at Snowfall's voice, snapping her head up to see Snowfall looking over the counter at Icesheet's stomach since Icesheet was standing on her hind paws. "W-well, no, since me and your Brother have agreed to wait until we are... hopefully married" She sighed and was about to go back to doing the evening meal when she heard Glacier's voice.
"And you two will be married, once everything goes well General Icesheet. You will become a Princess and will be moved into the same circle as my girls here, but I hope with all the moons that you treat my baby boy well" She narrowed her eyes, making Icesheet nod frantically before Frostbite sighed.
"Dear, stop doing that, Icesheet loves our Son far too much to hurt him in any way" He then went over to the kitchen, moving inside before he grabbed hold of Icesheet's paws gently. "Go and lay down sweetheart, I'll do the dinner" Icesheet was about to argue, but stopped when she noticed Glacier's stern gaze.
"Thank you, Your Majesty, b-but, can I ask, how is-" "Snowheart will be fine, he will be here in a few hours" Frostbite answered, giving Icesheet a side eye before gently shooing her away as he got back to making dinner. Icesheet cleaned her forepaws off, making sure they were clean of any slime from the meat before she joined Glacier and the Princesses on the bed. "Don't worry darling, he will be okay" Glacier reassured Icesheet, seeing her worried expression as they all slowly calmed down on the bed, curling around each other while they all watched Frostbite make dinner.
