Luz awoke with the sun already high in the sky and took the first really deep breath she had taken for quite some time. Her body had healed fully, just like Eda had said it would. She turned over in her sleep, finally able to now that the arm casts were no longer on her arms and came face to face with Willow. Before Luz could say anything, she felt Willow's hand slowly grab her head and pull her forward, as the half-sleeping witch whispered a singular name, "Boscha," before her lips began to lower on Luz's own.
"Woah, am I interrupting something?" A voice spoke, waking the sleeping witchling. As soon as Willow realized the predicament she was in, she nearly fell over trying to get away from Luz, her face a deep red. Luz was also blushing, standing up as quickly as possible. Nothing hurt afterwards, which made Luz note how powerful that potion must have been to heal so completely. Willow reached a hand out, then pulled it back, looking away from Luz. Eda glanced between the two girls and shrugged, "Hey, if you wanna have a little 'girl bonding' time, I'm all for it. Just, you know, keep it as just lips ok? The last thing I need is a teen witch pregnancy to have to explain to Hecate. Oh, by the way Rosebud, I already let your dads know you spent the night here. If you want to stay another night, all you gotta do is ask though," Eda winked, waggling her eyebrows.
'This is Tarturus. I died and went to Tartarus, and this is my punishment' Luz thought to herself, wishing that she could change her form and run away from this situation. Unfortunately, Luz had also spoken her inner thoughts out loud. Willow stood up, not making eye contact with anyone.
"My dads will be expecting me home. I have to leave. Now." she spoke, barely audible, and walked away without hearing an answer.
"HAVE A GREAT DAY, HOOT HOOT!" Hooty shouted, as Willow walked out of the house. Luz ran out the door to follow her, grabbing her by the hand and spinning Willow around. She looked at her friend, who had tears forming at the corners of her eyes.
"Wait, I'm sorry. I didn't mean you were a punishment, I meant Eda being an idiot!"
Willow shook her head, looking away from Luz, "It's not that. You heard the name I said before I attempted to k-kiss you right? Boscha? She is...was, my girlfriend. Kind of. I mean, I wanted her to be. Oh, Titan," Willow whispered, sinking down to her knees and covering her face in her hands.
Luz went down with her, as she grabbed Willow in a tight hug. The witch stiffened, not used to the gesture outside of her immediate family, but eventually relaxed into it, "Hey, its ok to talk to me about it. I remember there was this one cheerleader I had a crush on back in the Human Realm, and so I tried to join the cheer squad to impress her. I got so nervous I kinda...turned my eyelids inside out and made a total fool of myself."
Willow giggled, taking a calming breath afterwards to help stop the crying, "Ok, my situation is a little different, but I'm sorry that happened to you. You see, Boscha used to be a real bully. Ever since we met our first day of school, she would call me Half-a Witch Willow. Then one day, about a year ago, I found her crying in the greenhouse at school. She had a huge bruise on her face, and I knew immediately someone must have hit her. I found out later it was Odalia Blight. That was how I first found out about what Amity was going through. Odalia thinks she's perfect, but she is terrible at wording contracts. Boscha couldn't say anything about Amity's abuse, or her own abuse to fan adult, but she could talk to me about everything...at least, until I tried to confront Odalia about it, but that's another story."
The more Luz heard about this Odalia woman, the more her hands itched to stick her xiphos straight through the bitch's heart, if she even had one that was. Luz gripped Willow tighter, "I'm really starting to despise this Blight woman."
Willow nodded, "Anyway, in the greenhouse, Boscha told me how Odalia would hurt her and the other girls, then have Emira heal them up before they went home to hide what Odalia had done. As we were talking, something just came over me and I-I kissed her. She just looked so sad and hurt, I figured a little tenderness would make her feel better. Then she kissed me back, and then I just kept on kissing her and she kept on kissing me and-well, you get the idea. After I confronted Odalia though, she put Boscha under a new oath and now she's mean and cruel to me at all times, but I know she doesn't want too. I can see it in all three of her eyes every time she calls me Half-a Witch. It kills me, Luz, to just sit here and be able to do nothing while that horrible bitch Odalia hurts two of the women I love the most!" Willow, realizing what she had just said turned a shade of crimson that matched the red grass Willow loved so much.
Luz made up her mind in that moment that she would kill Odalia Blight. It probably wasn't going to be today, tomorrow, or even a week from now, but she swore at that moment Odalia Blight was a dead woman. May Furies hound her for all her days if she broke that oath. "Willow, I swear to you now, in the name of my grandfather Zeus, Odalia Blight is dead. She just doesn't know it yet. So spoken, so mote it be," Luz whispered, kissing Willow on the forehead. A glowing sigil appeared on the young witch's forehead, as Luz cradled Willow's head in her lap. Her mother would be pissed at what she had just done, but Luz frankly didn't give a shit. "Willow Park, we are bound by oath. I will save them, Willow. All of them."
Willow, with tears streaming down her face, looked up at the face of her friend, this young Demigod, and felt at peace for the first time since she had learned of this terrible secret. Willow knew Luz would make good on her promise. "Thank you, Luz. Damn, I can't go home looking like this. I guess I'll stay another night. Tell my Dads I made a new friend and want to spend time with you before the weekend is over. Besides, we have to go say thank you to whoever that guy was that saved us."
Luz blinked. In all her righteous fury, she had completely forgotten about the mystery man. She helped Willow to her feet, and held her hand, as together they walked back into the Owl House. As they walked inside, they saw Eda was holding Hooty back, so that the two girls could have that moment of privacy they had just shared. Letting go of the House Demon, Eda smiled at the two girls, "Hey, good to see you get over your funk Rosebud. I'll let your dads know you're staying another night. Our guest is in the kitchen waiting for you Luz."
Luz nodded, walking towards the kitchen. As they got closer, the two girls heard music coming from the direction of the kitchen. It took a few seconds for Luz to recognize the voice, but when she did, she broke into a sprint. Skidding to a halt outside the door, Luz saw the guest.
"UNCLE THOR!"
Thor laughed as Luz threw herself at the thunder God, hugging him tightly, as the warm tone of his laughter echoed throughout the Owl House, "LUZ! Come here niese, and let your uncle get a good look at you! My, you have grown, and not just in height either! I saw the end of your fight with Camazotz, and you faced death like a true warrior. I am so proud of you."
Luz knew that her uncle had a different value system than her but hearing him say he was proud of her for almost dying still threw her for a loop, "Uh, thank you Uncle. Why are you here? I mean, I'm not ungrateful you saved us but its very rare for you to leave Valhalla these days, isn't it?"
Thor nodded his head, putting down his Lyre to take a drink from his horn, "Normally, yes, but All-Father heard about you seeing Draugr here on the Boiling Isles, and before that I was tracking the demon that attacked you. Now, tell me everything you can remember about the Draugr. We must discover how some of the Unhallowed Dead wound up here, of all places."
Luz explained how she had come to the Isles, and the prison break. Thor listened with rapt attention, for he always had loved a good story. 'Luz tells the story well', Thor thought to himself, 'She would make an excellent skald.' When she got to the mention of the Draugr, though, she paused. She tried to remember everything Warden Wrath had said, to make sure she left nothing out that might help her uncle.
"I remember he said something about new minions. I can't remember if he said anything else, only that they were new, and he wanted to try them out. Sorry. Anyway, that's not all. While the bat-thing, Camazotz was it? While it was attacking us, me and King ran up the stairs to find some of Eda's potions. We were attacked by some kind of...Shadow Person! I have never heard of something like that before, Uncle."
Thor took another long drink from his horn, contemplating what Luz had just told him. A Shadow Person AND Camazotz at the same house? Not just any house, the house of Eda the Owl Lady and Luz, daughter of Hecate. Just one of those demons here of all places would be suspicious, but both at the same time? "I see. I must return to Asgard and speak to my father. I will also tell your grandfather about what happened. Now," Thor took a pendent depicting Mjolnir off his neck and handed it to her, "Take this. If you ever have need of me, hold this tight and pray. Wherever you are, Heimdall will see you and I will be there. I promise Luz."
Luz placed the necklace around her neck, smiling, "Thank you Uncle. Hopefully I never have to use this, but who knows." She gave him one more hug, as he began to head outside. Thor stood in the open field outside the Owl House, smiling.
"Take care of her Edalyn. If she gets hurt, you'll have more than one pantheon to worry about. HEIMDALL!" He shouted, as a rainbow bridge appeared, taking Thor back to Asgard.
Eda frowned. Why did everyone have to threaten her to take care of Luz? "Well, that's that. Time to go grab some food. By the way, you called him Uncle Thor, right? Why is that? How do you even know the Thunderer anyway?"
Luz smiled as she headed towards the kitchen, "Oh, my mama? Camila? She was once a Valkyrie!"
Author's note: Welp, Odalia is a dead woman! And what a twist? Camila, a Valkyrie? Now you might be asking why was she "once" a Valkyrie? Well, in some stories, Valkyrie have given up their powers in order to be with mortal lovers, which is what happened here. She fell in love with Manny, and gave up her power and became mortal to be with him. On to the next Chapter!
