"We broke up", said Harry to Hermione in a tone that was mixed with emotions. Even Hermione couldn't figure them out- his emotions. He looked relieved, as if he was happy that he didn't have to carry on the burden of dating anymore. He was pained too, his eyes showed it. But it didn't seem like he was really suffering the pain of a breakup.
"But what happened? You were fine all this time. Going great, to be honest. Then what is this suddenly? Should I talk to Ginny about it? Is something getting you heated up again, like it used to happen to you earlier?" Hermione was desperate about something. She was feeling as if something was wrong and it was bothering her. And that something was big. She wasn't sure what to do and she wasn't sure if she would be able to patch them up either, or if she should even do so. A sudden break up between such a loving couple definitely had something unusually big behind it and she was sure about it.
"Just leave it be. Don't bother and go study. Ah yes, McGonagall was looking for you. Asked you to deliver some previous year books to her since they didn't get the chance to print new books after the war. Take yours to her and ask her if she needs mine too."
"Ah yes, of course. But Harry, look at me! Why do you look so strange? And you bother about everything so much. Then why not the tearing up of your most important relationship?! Has the war done something to your head? Ginny must be crying her heart out right now and look at you being the least bothered! I can't even-"
"JUST FUCK OFF HERMIONE!"
Stunned. Hermione went blank for a minute. How could he curse at her like that? This wasn't Harry.
It was someone else.
