Welcome to Hulbury
When the group enters Hulbury, they immediately see the town's Pokemon Center, and decide to drop their Pokemon off for treatment. Once they do, they all decide to take a look around the town to pass the time. When they exit the Pokemon Center, they see, to their surprise, they see Chairman Rose, who was wearing a white, long-sleeved shirt, along with teal-colored shorts with white polka dots, a black cap, sunglasses, and white shoes. With him was the woman who was with him during the Gym Challenge Opening Ceremony who was talking to two other women.
"Our sincerest apologies!" said the woman that Chairman Rose was with. "The chairman is quite busy at the moment. Everyone, please disperse! Please leave now!"
"OK. See you later, chairman." said one of the other women who was there, before she and her friend walked off.
"No need to rush off!" Chairman Rose says to them. "I can still do more autographs!" But the women were already gone. He slumps before turning towards the woman he was with. "We need the support of our fans to keep doing what we're doing. Chasing them off like that... Aren't you being a little harsh, Oleana?"
"Fans are very important, off course." said the woman, now known as Oleana. "That's why you need to keep doing your work for their sake." Just then, they see Bede, who was standing nearby, walk over to Chairman Rose.
"I promise to do everything in my power to assist you, too, Chairman!" said Bede. Chairman Rose looks at Bede with a puzzled look on his face.
"Oh, and you were...?" asked Chairman Rose.
"Bede, sir." replied Bede.
"That's right! Bede! I daresay that I'm impressed how far you've come since I gave you that Pokemon all those years ago." said Chairman Rose. "Will you be the one to win the Gym Challenge? Or perhaps one of the trainers endorsed by the Champion?"
"I will prove your faith in me was well placed, Chairman." said Bede. "I won't lose to anyone!"
"Yeah, tell that to Lucy." Lola says with a smirk on her face, getting Chairman Rose's, Oleana's, and Bede's attention. Bede frowns when he sees the group.
"Oh; hello, kids." said Chairman Rose.
"Hi, Chairman Rose." said Lincoln as he and the rest of the group walk over to him. Bede suddenly steps in between the group and Chairman Rose.
"Why are you people here?" asked Bede.
"Probably the same thing you're doing here." said Clyde.
"We're here to have a gym battle with Nessa." said Lincoln.
"Hmph!" replied Bede. "Don't waste your time. You'll all just end up losing to me if you all somehow make it to the Gym Challenge tournament."
"We'll see about that." said Lincoln, making Bede look at him.
"I saw your battle against Milo on the telly." said Bede. "I can't believe you were able to defeat a Dynamaxed Pokemon with a regular-sized Raboot."
"We all trained our Pokemon very hard." said Lincoln. "So, you won't have as easy of a battle against us as you think you will. I mean, you lost to my sister, Lucy, in the Galar Mine a few days ago." Bede growled in response.
"Only because I wasn't taking her seriously because of how young she is." said Bede.
"That was a mistake." said Lucy from behind Bede, Chairman Rose, and Oleana; startling them.
"How do you do that?!" asked Bede.
"We've known her for years, and we still haven't figure out how." said Luna.
"Anyway, as much as I 'enjoyed' seeing you all again. I have far more important things to do, so I'll be taking my leave." said Bede before turning around and walking away.
"Good riddance." muttered Lola. Chairman Rose and Oleana turn towards the group.
"So, you kids are going to challenge Nessa?" asked Chairman Rose.
"Yes, sir." said Lincoln.
"I'll admit, I'm curious about Leon's reasons for endorsing you and Hop, Lincoln." said Chairman Rose. "Ah! I just had a good idea, as I tend to do!"
"What is it?" asked Lincoln.
"If you, and your friends all manage to get Gym Badges from her, I'll hold a celebration." said Chairman Rose.
"Really?" asked Lola.
"Yes, I'd like to get to know you all a little better, after all." said Chairman Rose. Oleana suddenly leans towards him.
"Chairman, we should really be going..." said Oleana.
"Please, do your best, for the sake of Galar's future!" said Chairman Rose, confusing the group.
"What do you mean 'Galar's future'?" asked Lincoln. But Chairman Rose just walks off somewhere. Oleana turns to look at the group.
"The chairman will be heading to this town's seafood restaurant." said Oleana. "Win your Gym Badges and join him there at once. Do not keep him waiting."
"We'll be there as soon as we can." said Lincoln. "Keep in mind that there are eight of us doing gym battles, so it will take a while for all of us to do so."
"Fair point." said Oleana before walking off.
"So, what now?" asked Lola.
"Let's look around for the gym so we at least know where it is." said Lincoln. Everyone nods in agreement and start looking around. They head down into what looked like a marketplace and look around at what they got there. A soothing aroma reaches their noses, and they follow the scent to a nearby booth that a woman was working at.
"What's that lovely aroma?" asked Lola.
"That would be the assortment of essences I have here." said the woman. He points to an incense container with magenta markings on it. "This one is called a Rose Incense. It boosts the power of a Pokemon's grass type moves if they hold it." Lincoln thinks about his Leafeon.
"Maybe my Leafeon can use one." said Lincoln.
"So can my Venusaur." said Clyde.
"Also, my Foongus." said Ronnie Anne.
"And my Tangrowth." said Lana.
"Also, my Cherrim." said Lola.
"And Dartrix." said Lucy from behind the woman, scaring her.
"My Tsareena can, totes, use one of those." said Leni. Everyone starts buying up Incenses for their Pokemon. Lincoln, Clyde, Ronnie Anne, Lucy, Lana, Leni, and Lola; each buy a Rose Incense for their grass type Pokemon. Clyde buys a Wave Incense for his Urushifu, Ronnie Anne also buys a Wave Incense for his Wartortle, and Luna buys a Rock Incense for her Boldore. Once everyone made their purchases, they continue to explore Hulbury, while the essence salesperson was looking at all the money she just made. They exit the marketplace, and to their surprise, they see a harbor with several boats in it.
"There's boats here?!" asked Lola.
"I thought they only had trains here." said Lincoln.
"Well, Galar is an island region, so I suppose it makes sense that there'd be boats here also." said Ronnie Anne.
"Maybe if Lisa can't figure out a way to get us back to Royal Woods after our Gym Challenge; Dad can call Gramps and have him pick us up in his boat to bring us home." suggested Lincoln.
"Good call, dude." said Luna.
"But let's enjoy our adventure here while we can." said Lana. Everyone continues to explore, and soon find Hulbury Stadium.
"Here's where our next gym battle's gonna be." said Lincoln.
"Let's check it out." said Lana.
"Yeah, I, totes, want to meet Nessa." said Leni. As they walk over to the entrance, a woman steps in front of them.
"You must be Gym Challengers, right?" asked the woman.
"That's right." said Lola with a smile.
"If you're looking for the Gym Leader, Nessa, she's off at the lighthouse." said the woman.
"Where's that at?" asked Lincoln. The woman points to her left, and the group look to see a lighthouse.
"Oh, thank you." said Clyde.
"You're welcome." said the woman. The group head towards the lighthouse, taking a little time to look at the statues of Toxtricity that were near it. Standing near some guardrails, looking out over the ocean, was Nessa. As they approach her, she suddenly speaks.
"You all must be Gym Challengers." said Nessa, surprising everyone.
"Whoa." said Sam. "How did she know we were here?" Nessa then turns to look at them. She then looks at Lincoln.
"You're one of the two that was endorsed by Leon, right?" asked Nessa.
"That's right." said Lincoln. Leni runs over to Nessa and stops in front of her.
"O-M-Gosh! I love that pendant and belly chain, Ms. Nessa!" said Leni.
"Thank you." said Nessa with a smile. "It might interest you to know that aside from being the Hulbury Gym Leader; I also work as a model."
"Really?!" replied Leni.
"Yes." said Nessa. "Maybe after our gym battle, we can look into getting some accessories like mine."
"That would be, totes, amazing!" said Leni.
"Anyway, I'll head back to the stadium so we can have our gym battles." said Nessa. "I'll be expecting a great battle from each of you."
"You got it." asked Lincoln.
"Good." said Nessa before looking directly at Lincoln. "I saw your gym battles with Milo two days ago."
"You did?" asked Lola. Nessa then looks at Lincoln.
"And I saw how you defeated Milo's Dynamaxed Eldegloss with a regular-sized Raboot." said Nessa.
"Are people really impressed by that?" asked Lincoln.
"Yes. Very few trainers can beat a Dynamaxed Pokemon with a regular-sized one." said Nessa. "The only person I've seen do that is Leon." Nessa then walks past the group, and heads towards the gym. Lincoln looks towards the rest of the group.
"Should we see if our Pokemon are fully healed?" asked Lincoln.
"Yeah, I really want to do my gym battle with Nessa." said Leni. Everyone else nods, and they all head for the Pokemon Center. Once they arrive and enter it, the nurse tells them that their Pokemon have been treated. Lincoln looks at the rest of the group.
"Are we ready?" asked Lincoln.
"Yeah!" shouts everyone. Luna then remembered that Sam hasn't been sponsored yet.
"What about Sam?" asked Luna. Lincoln thinks for a moment.
"Well, we are meeting with Chairman Rose for lunch, after our gym battles." said Lincoln. "Maybe we can see about getting Sam signed up for the Gym Challenge then."
"Good idea, bro." said Luna. With that, everyone exits the Pokemon Center, and head for Hulbury Stadium. Will they all earn their second gym badges?
