Lincoln vs. Marnie
The group head over to the Budew Inn to get rooms to sleep in for the night. When they head into the lobby, they think back to their first time there.
"Man, it's been a while since we've been in this hotel." said Lincoln.
"Yeah, remember when we first met Team Yell?" asked Lana.
"Those dudes looked so rockin." said Luna.
"Let's go get checked in." said Clyde. They all head towards the stairs leading to the front desk.
"Hello, Lincoln." a familiar voice calls out. Everyone turns to see Marnie walking over to them.
"Hi, Marnie." said Lincoln.
"Who's this?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"This is Marnie." said Lincoln. "She's a Gym Challenger."
"Team Yell is her personal cheer section." said Clyde. Marnie then walks over to Lincoln and stands in front of him.
"I've been...watching your Gym Battles." said Marnie as she looks away with a blush. Lincoln also blushes when he remembers what Team Yell said about her thinking he's cute just a few days ago. "You're a really strong trainer."
"Thanks." said Lincoln with a smile.
"I want to have a battle with you to see how I measure up." said Marnie. Lincoln gets a look of excitement on his face.
"Sure." said Lincoln. "I'm always up for a battle."
"That's what I was hoping for." said Marnie. Just then, some Team Yell members come out from behind the statue that's in the lobby and start cheering for her.
"You can do it, Marnie!" said a male Team Yell member.
"Show this kid who's boss!" said a female Team Yell member. Lincoln and Marnie walk away from each other to give themselves some battling room.
"You can do it, Lincoln." said Clyde.
"No mercy!" said Ronnie Anne.
"So how many Pokemon are we using?" asked Lincoln.
"Three each." said Marnie.
"Okay." said Lincoln. Just then, Lincoln's Rotom Phone starts to ring; he takes it out and sees that his family was calling him video chat; he then answers the call and sees his family still at the Loud House, along with the McBrides were in the living room.
"Hi, son." said Lynn Sr.
"Hey, Dad." replied Lincoln.
"What are you up to?" asked Luan.
"Just about to have a Pokemon battle." said Lincoln.
"Ooh, can we watch?" asked Lynn Jr.
"Sure." said Lincoln as he has his Rotom Phone hover while broadcasting the battle to his family back in Royal Woods.
"Are you ready now?" asked Marnie as she takes out a pokeball from her jacket pocket.
"Oh, before we begin; Luna, Sam, a little battle music if you don't mind?" said Lincoln.
"You got it, bro!" said Luna as she and Sam take out their guitars, plug them into outlets, and start playing a battle ballad; everyone in the lobby, including Team Yell, start enjoying it.
"Man, that blonde girl is just as rockin as the brown-haired girl!" said a male Team Yell member. Back with Lincoln and Marnie, they each throw a pokeball; Marnie releases a Croagunk, while Lincoln releases his Cinderace.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Lynn Jr.
"That's Cinderace; Scorbunny's final evolved form." said Lincoln.
"Croagunk, use Mud-Slap!" said Marnie. Croagunk flings some mud towards Cinderace.
"Cinderace, dodge and use Pyro Ball!" said Lincoln. Cinderace leaps to the side and dodges Mud-Slap. He then kicks up a small pebble that somehow was on the lobby floor and kick juggles it; it catches fire and grows into a fireball, and then kicks it at Croagunk, hitting it, and doing major damage to it. "Whoa. How did that do so much damage to Croagunk?"
"My Croagunk has the Dry Skin ability." replied Marnie.
"What's that?" asked Leni.
"It's an ability that restores some of Croagunk's stamina when it rains." said Marnie. "Downside to the ability is that it makes it that fire attacks do more damage to it."
"Oh." said Leni.
"Whoa! Cinderace has one mean kick!" said Lynn Jr. "I'd love to have him on my soccer team!"
"Croagunk, Sucker Punch!" said Marnie. Croagunk runs at Cinderace at a high speed and punches him in the gut, making him take a couple steps back.
"Flame Charge!" said Lincoln. Cinderace becomes surrounded by fire and he charges at Croagunk; he rams into it, and due to Croagunk's Dry Skin ability, Flame Charge does more than enough damage to knock it out. Cinderace begins surging with energy and his speed increases.
"Way to go, Linc!" said Clyde. Team Yell just stared with their jaws dropped.
"It's okay, Marnie." said a male Team Yell member.
"You got two Pokemon remaining." said a female Team Yell member. Marnie returns her Croagunk to its pokeball; she then puts it back in her jacket pocket, and pulls out another one; then throws it, releasing a bipedal Pokemon with a round head that's a yellowish-orange on the top half of it, and yellow on the bottom half of it, along with the top half of its torso, the lower half has a loose layer of orange skin that looked like an oversized pair of pants.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Clyde as he takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Scraggy, the Shedding Pokemon. It protects itself with its durable skin. It's thought that this Pokémon will evolve once its skin has completely stretched out." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"This says that Scraggy is part fighting and part dark type, Lincoln." said Clyde.
"Okay, then; Cinderace, use Double Kick!" said Lincoln.
"Scraggy, use Protect!" said Marnie. Scraggy pulls up the lower layer of skin and holds it out in front of it, making a green barrier appear. Cinderace's kicks bounce right off of it, not doing any damage to Scraggy. "Now use Low Kick!" Scraggy runs over to Cinderace and lands a kick to his legs, knocking him onto his side.
"Cinderace, use Headbutt!" said Lincoln. Cinderace gets up and rushes headfirst towards Scraggy.
"Scraggy, use Protect again!" said Marnie. Scraggy tries using Protect again, but this time it doesn't work. Cinderace's head slams into Scraggy's gut, knocking it back a little, and making it flinch.
"Hurry and use Double Kick one more time!" said Lincoln. Cinderace runs at Scraggy and manages to land two solid kicks to it, doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"You did it, Linky!" cheered Leni.
"One more to go, Lincoln." said Lucy. Marnie started to look a little nervous as she returns Scraggy to its pokeball.
"No pressure, Marnie!" shouts a male Team Yell member.
"You still have one more Pokemon remaining." said another male Team Yell member. Marnie takes out her last pokeball and throws it, releasing her Morpeko.
"Morpeko, use Quick Attack!" said Marnie.
"You use Quick Attack too, Cinderace!" said Lincoln. Both Pokemon run at each other and slam into each other, knocking each other back. Suddenly, Morpeko glows for a while, and when it stopped, its coloring changed from light brown, cream, and black, to black and purple with red eyes.
"Why did Morpeko's color change?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"That must be Morpeko's Hunger Switch ability." said Lincoln.
"What does it do?" asked Lana.
"Honestly, I have no idea." said Lincoln.
"There's a move that Morpeko will learn soon called Aura Wheel. What type of move it is will depend on what form Morpeko is in at the moment." said Marnie. "The form he started out with before was his Full Belly mode; when it that form, the move will be an electric type; the form you see right now is its Hangry Form; in that form, the move will be a dark type."
"Oh." said Lincoln.
"Now use Thunder Shock!" said Marnie. Morpeko releases a jolt of electricity from its body, and it hits Cinderace, who then starts to twitch afterwards.
"Cinderace is paralyzed, Lincoln." said Clyde.
"Ha! What are you going to do now?" asked a Team Yell member. Lincoln and Cinderace look at each other and nod; then Cinderace gathers his energy and breaks the paralysis, surprising Marnie and Team Yell.
"What the..." shouts a Team Yell member.
"Cinderace and I are very close." said Lincoln. "Now, Cinderace, use Double Kick!" Cinderace jumps at Morpeko and kicks it twice, dealing super effective damage to it.
"Use Bite!" said Marnie. Morpeko runs at Cinderace and bites him, damaging him. Morpeko glows and returns to Full Belly Mode.
"Cinderace, Flame Charge!" said Lincoln. Cinderace becomes covered in fire and charges at Morpeko, ramming it, and knocking it out.
"Whoa!" said a Team Yell member.
"No way!" said another Team Yell member. Luna and Sam finish their battle ballad and everyone in the lobby, including Team yell, applaud them.
"Those two really were rockin!" said a Team Yell member.
"Good work, Cinderace!" said Lincoln.
"Oh yeah! Who's the Pokemon?!" shouts Cinderace as he slides across the floor on his knees.
"Linky won!" said Leni.
"Way to go, little bro!" said Luna.
"That was amazing!" said Lana.
"That was quite the battle." said Lisa.
"That's my boy!" said Lynn Sr.
"Cinderace is so awesome!" says Lynn Jr. Marnie then returns her Morpeko to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Morpeko." said Marnie. She puts Morpeko's pokeball into her jacket pocket and walks over to Lincoln. "You're a strong trainer, Lincoln."
"Thanks." said Lincoln. Marnie pulls some pokedollars out of her jacket pocket and hands it to Lincoln. She also looks away with a blush, then without warning, she gives Lincoln a quick kiss on the cheek, making him blush, his sisters squeal with glee, Ronnie Anne growl a little, and the Team Yell members' jaws drop.
"Whoa!" said a Team Yell member. Marnie then quickly turns and walks away, leaving Lincoln in stunned shock. After a minute, he comes to his senses. He looks back at his friends and family to see them, except Ronnie Anne, smirking at him.
"Could we just get checked in?" asked Lincoln, hoping to avoid having his sisters make a scene.
"Okay, Lincoln." said Luna. Lincoln then looks at the screen on his Rotom Phone and sees his sisters back in Royal Woods with big smiles on their faces.
"Gotta go, bye!" Lincoln quickly said before ending the call. They all get checked in and go to their rooms to rest up for their Gym Battles tomorrow.
