Chapter Five

Saviours

"Clear! Nothing!"

The Darkness was all that could be seen, yet sounds could still be heard, a loud explosion had sent her flying backwards and Pandora could feel herself floating, it was so dark, and so peaceful, almost like a deep peaceful sleep.

"Again! Clear! Nothing!"

But a voice, muffled at first, it was starting to get louder, and slight shapes were forming before her eyes.

"Again! Clear! Nothing!"

Soon the voice was getting louder, and she could feel like a force was pulling her back,

"Come on! Ready! Clear!"

Pandora felt herself get jerked as she awoke from what had been a very deep sleep, she opened her eyes and coughed and gasped as air filled her lungs.

"She's back!"

A few excited cheers were heard around her, and the hybrid looked about, yet the shapes above were very blurred she couldn't tell who or what was around her.

"Great job you two!"

"Is she going to be alright?"

"I hope so!"

"How in the name of Moses did she survive?"

"Either the fire or drowning? Given where Lilith found her."

"No idea, but I suppose we'll get answers when she's able to speak."

"From the wounds I see on her, it must have involved a fire of some sorts."

"I'm not sure how or why, but the burns and cuts are already showing signs of healing."

"That quick? How?"

"Can we use the water on her?"

"No! I have a feeling this one was not mutated by the same source as us."

"How do you know boss?"

"Let's say I have a suspicion."

Pandora blinked as her vision got clearer and she started to breath more comfortably and she soon saw the figures more clearly.

Directly above her was a female white dove, and the other was of another mutant animal with a hood covering their head so she was unable to see clearly what they were, yet she saw them put a glove on their hand which had been on the hybrid's chest.

"What? Who?" she sat up, but she gasped in pain and held her face as she felt a burning sensation "Ahhh my face!"

"Shhh shhh, just rest now sweetheart." She felt some hands gently push her back onto something soft underneath her.

"What happened to me?" Pandora asked as she lowered her hands and she saw several other figures around her.

A male black Raven, a male sandy brown Locust with four arms, a male black panther, a male black and brown Doberman, a young white vampire bat with blonde hair, a white and tan coloured male oryx, and a female brown peregrine falcon.

"Don't be scared my dear." The dove said in a kind voice placing a hand on her shoulder "We won't hurt you."

"Who are you?" Pandora asked in a raspy voice.

"We're friends here." The hooded one said, and Pandora soon heard given the sound of her voice, she was a female "Lilith over there found you washed up on a small island on Lake Michigan and brought you here!"

The falcon smiled and waved.

"Hey!" she said, "I don't know how long you were on that island for or even how you ended up there, I thought you were already dead."

Flashback

The clouds parted as stars appeared behind them alone with the silver lines of the hidden moon whilst Chicago glittered below.

It was one of the many sights Lilith enjoyed as she flew over Lake Michigan admiring the city from afar.

"The skies the limit." She murmured to herself with a small smile "The feeling of freedom in the air, I can feel you Nigel, I always feel close to you in the sky."

Yet as she was flying, she suddenly saw one of the smaller islands several miles out away from the city, yet it wasn't the actual island that caught her sharp sky hunter eyes, but rather what was on it!

It looked like a large figure, like a store dummy or a large doll and it was being circled by seagulls and some were already down there pecking and observing it.

"What is that?"

The Falcon frowned then closed her wings before doing a dive down to the small island before opening her wings and landing on the small island which was more like a rock the size of a small car.

At her presence, the seagulls were scared away and the flew off calling and cawing.

Lilith walked over to what she had seen below, and she almost cried out in shock to see it was a young green skinned lizard girl wearing a sheer tan jumpsuit, loin cloth and top which was burnt and ripped in places, and her scaley skin showed signs of cuts as well as third degree burns as well as wounds from where the seagulls had pecked at her.

"Holy Christ!" she though as she knelt beside her and analysed her.

"What in God's name happened to you?" she asked as she felt the victim's face, she could see she wasn't drawing breath, yet as her taloned fingers brushed her neck, she felt a flicker of a pulse.

"Wait! You're alive?" she cried, she then placed her hands over the girl's chest and started to press down giving CPR "Come on! Breathe! Breathe!"

She pressed down a few times on the chest, yet there was no response.

"Come on kid!" she said, "Come on!"

She pressed a few times, but she still wasn't getting any response, she then took out a walkie talkie from her belt.

"Boss! Boss!"

"Come in Lilith!" a voice was heard on the other end.

"You'll never believe what I found! A body on one of the Islands in Lake Michigan, barely alive!"

"What? Report back immediately!"

"Roger that Diablo! Get Lamia and Chastity! There skills are needed!"

"For sure! Over!"

"Over and out!"

Lilith looked back at the body then gathered her in her arms before opening her wings.

"Hang in there girl! Just hold on!" she then took off into the sky and into the night "You'll be alright!"

End Flashback

Pandora blinked at the falcon and looked back at the hooded woman and Dove.

"Chastity and I were able to revive you, but it was a close call." She explained.

"You practically saved her Lamia." The Dove said, "Your electrical touch was a good defibrillator."

"And you got the medical skills!" Lamia said.

Pandora looked confused until Lamia held up her gloved hands.

"I'm an eel." She said, "Electric Eel to be precise, I have to wear gloves because my touch can be a bit…shocking, so to speak" she chuckled the last part and the other mutants laughed with her.

Pandora nodded but said nothing.

"Where are our manners? Maybe we should tell you who we are, that might put you at ease." Chastity suggested with a smile.

She then began to gesture herself then to everyone else.

"I'm Chastity the Dove," she introduced herself.

"That's Lamia the Electric Eel." Lamia smiled and bowed.

"That's Seth the Oryx and Lilith the Falcon." Both the Oryx and Falcon waved hello.

"That's Samson the Panther, he's Rex the Doberman." Chastity went on "And that's Ravage the Locust, Regan the Vampire Bat."

She then pointed at the Raven.

"And that's Diablo the Raven, he's our leader." Chastity ended.

"Hello." Diablo nodded to Pandora.

"Hi." Pandora replied, "Nice to meet you all."

The other mutants replied in unison then Diablo walked over before kneeling next to her, his moonstone eyes analysing her.

"Can you tell us your name?" he asked.

Pandora bit her lip and she felt confused, almost like something was missing.

"My name?" she asked.

"What's your name young lady?" Rex asked.

Pandora looked at her hands, and she saw how burnt and bloodied they were then she touched her face again.

"Are you alright?" Chastity asked.

"My face, I don't feel it hurting anymore, more do my hands."

The Dove took another look at Pandora's hands.

"I wasn't imagining things!" she said, "Your burns, they're already healing!"

"That's crazy! How?" Samson asked.

Diablo looked at Pandora and cocked his head, yet as the hybrid looked at him, she couldn't be sure whether he was looking at her funny, or he somehow knew something about her.

"How is this possible?" he asked, "How do you heal faster than average?"

Pandora looked down at her hands and she too saw how they were healing faster than normal.

"I don't know." Pandora replied.

Diablo frowned then decided to ask Pandora her name again.

After he asked, Pandora looked down then back at him.

"I…I don't know." Pandora said, anxiety filling her soul "I don't know my name…"

"You don't have a name?" Regan asked cocking her head on one side as she stepped towards Pandora, cocking her head and her nose waffling.

"I don't think she remembers anything!" Samson volunteered placing a paw on Regan's shoulder.

"Amnesia." Rex said, "Back in my war days, I knew a few soldiers in my regiment who experienced amnesia after a huge trauma."

"You think that's what happened to her?" Ravage asked scratching his head with his top left arm.

"From the burns on her body as well as the fact she's soaking wet, it must have been an explosion that's knocked her sideways." Rex clarified.

"I see." Samson said, "I wonder if she even remembers what happened before Lilith found her."

"I don't think now is a good time." Chastity said as she sat next to Pandora who had her fingers up to her lips and a lost look in her eyes.

"Honey?" she said softly wrapping an arm around her "It's alright, if you can't remember anything, we can help you, and we'll look after you until you do so."

Pandora looked up at the dove.

"You will?" she asked to which Chastity nodded then looked at Diablo who also nodded.

"Yes, we will." Diablo agreed "We'll take care of you." He then turned to the others.

"Won't we guys?"

At once the others agreed.

"Oh yes!"

"Of course we will!"

"Absolutely!"

"Any lost soul is welcome amongst us Disciples."

Chastity smiled and looked at Pandora.

"See, we'll take care of you, and we'll make sure you stay safe until you remember."

Pandora smiled.

"Thanks." She said then her eyelids drooped slightly.

Chastity then noticed she was getting sleepy, and she stroked her hair.

"Come now sweetie, let's get you comfortable, it's been an experience for you." She gently laid Pandora down on the sleeping bag then covered her with a blanket.

"Rest is a good healer." She said stroking Pandora's hair and looking up at Diablo.

"Given how quick her burns are healing, they might be gone by tomorrow."

"That's good." Diablo replied then looked down at Pandora again frowning harder.

Chastity noticed his look and her eyes narrowed.

"Boss." She said, "Are you alright?"

Diablo snapped his head up.

"What?" he said "I… I'm alright, I just… I just hope she's going to be alright."

"She will." Chastity said, "It's a miracle she survived what happened to her, it's like God was watching her, or she had some guardian angel looking over her."

"I'll say she did!" Seth commented.

"Lilith was one of them!" Ravage said to which Lilith blushed.

"More like good luck." She replied.

"Whatever it was, the kid's lucky to be alive!" Rex said.

"Agreed friend!" Samson added.

"We best keep watch over her, just in case." Chastity suggested "And I'll check her health every so often."

"That would be wise." Lamia agreed.

"Yes." Diablo said as he sat next to Pandora and looked over her, his taloned finger stroking her cheek "It is a blessing you have such skills Angel."

The Raven looked down at Pandora as she slept deeply on the makeshift bed, analysing her features as well as watch the burns and cuts heal slowly.

"We shall watch over her and look after her…."

Pandora's fate has been revealed, and it turns out she was found by Lilith the Falcon and is in the possession of Diablo and his Disciples! And the Raven is giving signs he recognises the hybrid but it's revealed Pandora is also suffering amnesia! Oh dear!

How will things progress from here? Well, you'll have to wait to find out!
