PROLOGUE
In the 687th year of the Second Age, the Saderan Empire exists as the strongest government on the continent of Falmart. However, its existence is being challenged by threats from the north. To explain how this happened, an overview of history must be made clear.
In the Year 0 of the Second Age, the Saderan Republic was established in the city of Sadera. After several long and costly wars near the end of the First Age, the Saderans were the ones to bring an end to the wars and helped establish peace. The Republic slowly grew by establishing treaties with nations that wished for a stronger sense of security. Eventually, it was established as an Empire in the Year 300 and continued to push for peace while continually growing.
In the Year 430 of the Second Age, the Great Elven War broke out, and nearly ended the Empire's existence. This happened after the Gate opened and the species of dark elves entered the lands. Elves were already prominent in the lands and had numerous kingdoms that existed in the forests and mountains of Falmart. They were great fighters and archers, with a desire for peace and tranquility. The dark elves were initially welcomed by all, but it was soon found out that they did not have the same sense of peace as their lighter-skinned counterparts.
The war lasted for 20 years, eventually leading to the banishment of the dark elves to the Schwarz Forest, where they would be guarded by the Empire's Alnus Garrison. The war also showed that the Empire could not expand too far out, or it would be threatened with collapse. To counter this, several southern kingdoms were established under royal families trusted by the Empire. These kingdoms grew and stabilized the regions they were part of. The largest formation would become the Kingdom of Elbe, which ultimately took on the responsibility of guarding the dark elves.
For another 150 years, there would be undisturbed peace on the lands, with only small skirmishes and intrusions from the dark elves and the warrior bunny tribes of the northeastern grasslands. That would change very rapidly. In the Year 589, the Gate opened, and a darkness was unleashed on the lands of Sadera. Orcs, also called goblins due to some of them being of a shorter and more disfigured form, invaded and began amassing large armies against the Empire. Their armies of ogres, trolls, enslaved volralden (werewolves), dragons and wyverns, and spiders quickly spread past the Gate.
Expecting the war to turn out like the Great Elven War, the Empire, and the Allied Kingdoms, set out to quell the forces by amassing legions to face the Orcs. However, the war was and has been costly. The orc forces were driven north into the Mountain Range of Ice and Snow. During this drive, the volralden were freed, and they pledged their allegiance to the Empire. To the Empire, it was seen as a victory, and peace was restored.
This would last until the Year 681 when the orc forces returned. It was confusing, as the dwarven kingdoms of the frozen mountains had pledged to keep the orcs at bay. Fearing the worst, the Empire rebuilt its armies, and to this day, are engaged in battle with the orcs just north of the city of Telta. However, the military city guarding the entire continent of Falmart is dwindling. It is hoped that the next opening of the Gate would bring an ally that could eradicate the orcs and keep the lands and the people of the empire from being slaughtered.

Howdy, all. Glad to try this series again. After juggling life, work, and future planning, I have finally found a little time to work on this story. I bounced between a few ideas, but eventually settled on this. I wanted something a little different from the original Gate story, but wanted some similarities. I hope you stick with the story to see how it develops and where the events will lead. Once again, thanks, and have a good one.
