Field Trip Plans and Engagement
A/N: Read end notes for some details.
Obelisk White Dorm
The many Sol members inside the current, Obelisk White dorm, began cheering at the arrival of their leader Sartorius. After presenting himself a couple days ago. They started an uproar and took him to the former blue dorm to where he would be staying for the time being.
"Master Sartorius! O' great leader!" They cheered.
Once Sartorius fully accommodated into the former blue dorm. The Society of Light quickly made arrangements to their organization. Due to Chazz's efforts along with some help from Alexis and some Sol grunts. They were able to nearly convert every former Obelisk Blue student to be part of the Society of Light. The only exceptions were those that were freed by 'The Devils' interference.
Despite their minor setbacks. The Society of Light still had a huge stranglehold of the entire Academy. With Chazz and Alexis acting as co-leaders of the organization.
"Welcome, and thank you for coming to Duel Academy." Chazz greeted, standing at middle of the stair case with Alexis by his side.
Alexis momentarily closed her eyes. "Grant onto us your wise guidance for we lack power, Master Sartorius."
Expressing their form of welcoming towards Sartorius. The rest of the Society of Light cheered loudly and continued onwards until Satorius faced his followers and lifted his palm to not only heed their welcome cheers, but greet them as equals.
"No, it is not I that will guide you. Destiny is what will guide you all. I am but a pupil, just as you all are." Replied Sartorius, beginning his first speech to his Society of Light members. "From now on, I will learn together with you all, and we will foster the prosperity of the Society of Light. This is destined to be."
At the end of Sartorius speech, all of the members became more motivated than before. They chanted their leader's name and chanted destiny loud and proudly. So loud, their cheers echoed off the walls of the white dorm and was heard at long distances.
Aster was standing just outside the dorm. Not amused from what was currently happening. Being unable to enter the dorm. The most he could do was observe the Sol behavior on certain manners. The last thing he needed was being compromised.
The rest of remaining group were either standing or sitting on the hill side, on the other side of the lake. Quietly observing the dorm from afar. No matter how they put it. Getting into the dorm was out of the question. The many students staying at the white concerned them.
"Damn that Sartorius, trying to transfer like that… Just what is he cooking up" Hassleberry spoke up.
"There's so many more people with those white uniforms, too…" Syrus added.
"We'd best be careful, everyone." Bastion stated.
"While I did free a few people from the Society of Light. That was short lived." Red Hat explained. "Now that they know what we're trying to do. They pretty much stopped having sending Sol members at me, since they know they'll be dropping numbers."
"I still don't know how you're able to do that." Jaden replied, wondering how Red Hat was able to free said students from the Society of Light's control.
"I still have no idea myself. It's why they haven't sent more members at me." Red Hat lied. He knew full well the dark power he received is what allowed him to free students from the light. While he knew Jaden could do that too. It didn't seem Jaden had much success on this matter. Assuming he was sent Sol members in the first place.
"That begs the question. Where have those students you freed been doing? Where have they been staying?" Bastion asked, curious to where they have been.
"Yeah, come to think of it. There were a few Obelisk Blue boys and girls the other day." Hassleberry reminded him.
"Heck, Jasmine and Mindy haven't even been brainwashed yet. They spend more time at the card shop or stay around longer at the courtyard." Syrus added.
Bastion looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Well, that's pretty obvious. While they're pretty smart, their dueling skills aren't something to brag about. Its probably why they weren't targeted. They'll just be a liability."
Red Hat sighed. "While on that topic. Jamie, Syun, Simon, and Dante have been staying at the Ra Yellow dorm. Meanwhile the girls stay in the nearly abandoned girl's dorm. For some reason, both former Obelisk Blue boys and girls live in the same dorm."
Jaden remained silent throughout the exchange. 'Sartorius… just what is he planning at the moment…'
Meanwhile at the Chancellor's Office
Crowler and Bonaparte were currently arguing about where to have the field trip they've been planning for a while now. The duo couldn't seem to agree on a place to go, consistently arguing how one place is better than the other.
"O sole mio! Really, why are you so ostinato?! Dear me… Our field trip will be going to Italy, and that's final!" Crowler repeated, as he pointed to the map of Italy, feeling all giddy at the thought of going there. "Rome, Firenze, and Milano… A journey focused on history and fine arts! This falls under the chancellor's justification, does it not?"
Bonaparte was less then amused by his antics. "We have no business at all with that long boot!" Bonaparte tore off the map Crowler set up and now revealed a map of France. "This will be a voyage to Paris, Nice, Marseille, and the gourmet world! I will not surrender it!"
This only infuriated Crolwer further. When he tried to rebuttal his suggestion. They heard the door to office open up and saw Alexis, Chazz and many Society of Light members enter the office. "And what do you all want?" Crowler asked irritably.
"We are currently in the middle of an important meeting!" Bonaparte replied.
Chazz glared at the duo. "You're deciding where to go for our field trip, right?"
"Yes, we are! This is a heated discussion!" Crowler answered.
"There's no need for one. We've already had Master Sartorius foretell it to decide it." Chazz replied.
This confused Crowler. "What do you say?"
"Monsieur Sartorius?" Bonaparte added.
Then, all of the white students stepped aside as Sartorius entered the room with a smile on his face. "My apologies. I did not mean to intrude, but I have perceived our fate by the way of Tarot."
Crowler raised an eyebrow at his explanation. "But what does such a thing have to do…" However, he and Bonaparte got nervous as all the white students began glaring at them for refusing too corporate.
Bonaparte looked at Sartorius. "Uh... there is nothing we can do! W-we shawl follow Monsieur Sartorius on this one idea…" Crowler on the other hand, was not pleased by this idea, but said nothing.
"It is destiny." Sartorius repeated.
"However…" Crowler was then interrupted by Bonaparte.
"This is quite awful. I can already feel our danger in their eyes." He whispered, feeling unnerved.
Alexis looked at them with a cold stare. "So, we will have you announce the site chosen by our leader, Master Sartorius, for the field trip."
However, they got interrupted by a familiar voice coming from the door. "Hold it right there!" They turned around and saw Jaden and the gang standing there. They became defensive the moment they spotted Red Hat. "I've got somewhere I want to go too!"
Chazz glared at him. "Jaden Yuki, get lost!"
Alexis glared in return. "You and that devil friend of yours cannot oppose fate!"
Jaden ignored their comments. "Sartorius, accept my challenge! Let's settle where the field trip will take us with a duel!"
Sartorius looked at him with a smirk. "Oh? With a duel? But if you're coming to me with a challenge, it must entail an accompanying risk. How would you feel if I had you enter our Society of Light in the event of your defeat?"
Red Hat merely smirked. "When you're taking on us, you'll fail. Besides, none of your lackeys can take us on either."
"That's the spirit, Red Hat!" Jaden cheered as they both high fived. The rest of the grouped sweat dropped at what they did.
Sartorius chuckled. "You misunderstand, I shall pass on dueling. To be quite honest, you won't be participating either, Mr. Red Hat. Having only just transferred here, I would prefer to avoid any suspicion."
"You being here is suspicious enough." Red Hat pointed out.
"I wish for you to duel against two duelists of my choosing in a Tag Duel. Your partner can not be the devil." Sartorius looked back to glance at Jaden. "I accept your challenge of destiny."
Red Hat looked at Jaden with a worried look. "Jaden, he's up to something, and I want to figure out what he's going to do. Have Bastion team up with you for the Tag Duel."
This caught Bastion by surprise. "You sure about that? What will you be doing in the meantime?"
"Something may come to my attention." He replied before leaving the office. Leaving the rest of the gang confused.
Sartorius chuckled. "Well then, let's see you challenge destiny." Sartorius and the rest of the Sol group began following him. 'I'll make sure to keep the devil in check for a while. No matter what he believes… He cannot defy destiny.'
Outside in the Forest
The minute Red Hat exited the building, his mark began pulsating and releasing an aura. No matter how many times he tried to calm down to prevent the mark from pulsating, it continued to do so. He believed because of the large influx of power the Society of Light now holds because Sartorius is here. Still, he had to be careful and not lash out.
'Usually when the mark is pulsating. A strong enemy is nearby. Although, I don't see anyone nearby… Could it be a spirit?' He thought as he wondered around the forest. Making sure he stayed close to the land marks.
'Why must you act like a lone wolf? You realize you'll eventually fall?' His spirit friend Aussa appeared next to him. 'No matter how prepared you are, you can't handle everything.'
"Relying on the others will only slow me down. Besides, I rather not put them through this kind of situation. Besides Jaden, the others cannot fight spirits, let alone high-ranking Sol members." He retorted.
Aussa scowled at his response. 'Just how little confidence do you have in your friends? Do you treat them as such, or is that just the lone wolf within you speaking instead…'
Red Hat glared inwardly. "This conversation is over…"
As he kept walking around, he came to empty space, only to nearly dodge an incoming spear before disappearing. This caught Red Hat by surprise as this was an actual spear and not one, he's seen before.
"We found you!"
Red Hat looked up and notice it wasn't just one spirit, but three of them. One of them he knew it was Zeradias, Herlad of Heaven. The other two spirits on the other hand, he never seen before yet. The first one was a woman wearing peach-colored robes, wore a peach-colored hat and she carried a staff with a purple gem on the center. The second one was an old man wearing purple robes, wore a hoard purple hood, and carried a staff that contained a red gem. All three spirits glared at him reading their weapons.
Red Hat took a closer look and noticed a powerful white aura around them. He assumed they have either been brainwashed by the light of destruction or they'll willing following its commands. Either way, he knew they meant business if they were willing to strike him out in the open like this.
"You're the demon we've been seeking!" The woman spoke up.
The old pointed his staff at Red Hat. "Your actions will condemn us all!"
"Who are you! And what are you talking about?" Red Hat demanded.
"My name is Sage of Silence." The woman spoke up.
"Ty name is Sage of Stillness. The light has blessed us with the honor of destroying you!" The old man spoke up as he took aim.
Panicking, Red Hat knew these spirits meant business. 'Rather than a duel… These spirits emerged to actually cause harm.' As he finished his thoughts. One of the Sages fired a red energy orb straight at him. Nearly dodging, as the orb exploded upon impact against a tree. Leaving behind debris of wood. "Not good…"
"It's no use, devil. Give up now and maybe we'll spare you!" Sage of Silence spoke.
"Like I'll let some halfwit spirits take me down!" He boasted, knowing full well he had no idea how to take on duel spirit. "Any idea how to actually beat these spirits?" He quietly asked, as he dodged a purple laser shot from the second sage.
'Since you have been branded and its pulsating. If I'm correct, if you activate your duel disk and either summon monsters or activate spells and traps by using that brands power, they also become real. I'm sure you noticed that in your previous battles.' Aussa explained as she avoided the spirits sights.
"Good to know…" He sarcastically said as he activated his duel disk, and placed his deck in the deck slot as he nearly dodged two orb strikes from the sages as it completely destroyed a nearby tree. "Okay, let's begin!"
"Dare oppose us? Very well, you shawl be destroyed!" Sage of Stillness fired a few energy orbs directly at Red Hat.
Red Hat leaped away before the orbs collided with him. "Alright, let's see how this works…" He drew a card and took a look at it. "Alright, come forth Beige, Vanguard of Dark World!" His mark glowed black as the Dark World field materialled onto the field.
The two sages glared at their opponent. "Vile creature. We'll crush you!" The two sages began attacking the Dark World field with their attacks only for Beige to block them with his spear.
'You aren't strong to beat me.' The fiend boasted as it retaliated and impaled Sage of Silence.
The female sage gasped as she tried to remove the spear. "Damn… you… I won't… fall like this…" With the help of Zeradias, she was able to remove the spear.
"Dare lay your hands un us? Back in your hole!" Zeradias retaliated by impaling Beige before kicking him down as the fiend disappeared.
Red Hat fell to his knees as he felt the attack, despite not being hit himself. Gasping for a bit, he took a look at his duel disk and noticed his LP had gone down, despite not actually dueling. What was the meaning of this.
Red Hat: 8000 – 7500 LP
"Aussa, why have my life points been drained? And why have I taken damage?" He asked slowly getting up before having to dodge another blast from the male Sage.
His spirit friend showed up again. 'That brand of yours creates a temporary duel of darkness. All attacks will feel real and damage taken will feel real as well. Your life points in this situation must not drop to 0 in this situation. If it's an extreme circumstance, then you don't want to know…'
"Fantastic…" He sarcastically replied before taking a hit from the male Sage's energy orb as he blasted away landing on his back. "I w-won't lose to… rogue spirits!" His duel disk began to glow red for a while.
Red Hat: 7500 – 6100 LP
"With my power, you cannot activate any traps for a while." Sage of Stillness spoke up as he kept attacking.
Red Hat dodging his blast kept drawing and began to run away. "Need to summon stronger monsters… Damn…" He was then stopped by Zeradias as he pointed his weapon at him.
"No escape, now die!" Before Zeradias could strike with his spear his attack was blocked by Aussa's staff. He looked for a bit and noticed Red Hat summoned her to the field. "Why protect this demon? You know full well you aren't strong enough to defeat me."
Aussa struggled to hold him back, glaring at him. "I won't allow you to harm my partner. He's not what you think he is."
"Nonsense!" Zeradias pushed her away as he flew towards Red Hat, who was running away, throwing his spear at him.
Red Hat looked behind him as he tried to dodge the spear before his right arm got struck by the spear, falling to his knees as he let out pained scream. His right arm began to bleed. Weakly, he removed the spear from his arm and clutched his right arm.
Red Hat: 6100 – 4000 LP
Aussa gasped as she ran up to him. "No!" She was blocked by Sage of Silence who recently recovered. "Snap out of it! The light is controlling you!"
The Sage laughed at her. "Looks like hanging with that demon has weakened you. Here's the real power we can do." The female sage started a chant that the spirit Aussa was all too familiar with. Soon her power was increased even further. "Mage power boost, now time to force you out of here!" The female sage retaliated by firing stronger purple energy orbs at Aussa, causing her to disappear as she was hit.
Red Hat: 4000 – 3450 LP
"You have no one left. Time to die, demon!" The male sage said as he began to open fire at Red Hat once more.
Red Hat gritted his teeth as he pulled a card and activated it. "Activate spell card, Lightning Vortex! Get blown away!" Powerful lightning began to strike as some trees were knocked down, but all the spirits were hit. They all screamed in agony as their power was weakened. Zeadias was now unable to fly thanks to the blast.
"W-why you little… You'll pay for this!" Zeadias sneered.
"We won't lose to a demon!" Both sages sneered.
Panting and standing up, still clutching his arm, he pulled another card activated it. "Spirits are a pain in the neck… But I won't be taken down, not like this! Dark World Dealings!" He draws a card and discards one. With his brand he summoned Cerli to their side.
'Ha ha ha! Prepare to die!' The smaller Dark world fiend laughed.
"Discard effect activates! Come forth Rein-Beaux Overlord of Dark World!" The moment Red Hat discard the card he was forced to be Cerli's effect. His mark glowed pitch black, even overlapping his sleeve as he called out Rein-Beaux Overlord of Dark World onto the field. The area around him was soon covered by dark clouds as lightning began to strike.
"Rein-Baux effect now activates! Blast them away!" The Overlord laughed manically and he conjured and absorbed purple lightning from his staff and fired it at the spirits. The intense lightning blast, combined with dark power obliterated both Sages turning them into particles of light before disappearing. Zeadias on the other hand, remained on the field panting as he did his best to maintain his form in the human world.
"I can't lose, not to you!" Zeadias sneered as his spear disappeared and equipped himself with a new weapon. This time around, his weapon of choice was Cestus of Dagla. His new weapon increased his power once more as the white aura around him grew stronger. "Blast this!" With another purple Lightning blast, Zeadias was able to overpower Rein-Beaux and blasted him away, leaving behind a trail of black smoke.
Red Hat: 3450 – 3350 LP
Zeadias glowed blue as his strength was slowly recovering. "Your loss will become my gain. You may have defeated the Sages, but I still stand!" He flew towards Red Hat as he tried to escape by the forest.
Left with no other options. He had to flee the scene and head to a less suspicious area. 'I can't keep this up much longer. I'll need more support.' He kept drawing cards, figuring he still had to follow the rules of the match. Not getting what he needed, he decided to pull back to the dorm to get more miscellaneous cards. It was a long shot, but there was nothing else he could physically do. With his arm still severely injured and bleeding. He had no other choice.
Earlier at the Obelisk Blue Arena
Syrus and Hassleberry sat on the spectator seats and the white students sat at the opposite side of the arena while chanting and praising the lights name. The remaining Obelisk Blues and Ra Yellows stayed as far away from them as possible. The ones that were free from the light's control or associate with the notorious Red Hat, were both ridiculed and frowned upon. Much to the disappointment of the girls who were no longer controlled.
Bastion and Jaden were currently at the duel field waiting patiently for their opponents to arrive. "Sartorius isn't planning to show himself, is he? So, he believes that much in all that destiny stuff?"
Bastion sighed. "Sartorius not showing is questionable. He's either overly confident he's going to win or he's up to something."
"Whatever the case, we should be ready."
"Sorry to keep you waiting."
The duo turned to who was talking to them, only to be surprised to see Alexis standing on the other side of the duel arena.
"Alexis? We're dueling you too?" Jaden asked.
"I'm not participating." She flatly replied. "Your opponents are here."
As the duo took a closer look, they noticed two former Obelisk Blue students approach the duel field. One was a blonde girl with shoulder length hair, and the second opponent was green haired boy. The both of them seem to be in good terms with each other.
"So, we're facing Jaden Yuki and Bastion Misawa. Can't say I'm surprised." The first Sol member said.
"Well, what do we have here. Hope you two don't get caught off guard by my winds. Name is Celia Kazami." The girl named Celia introduced herself with a smirk.
"The name is Rock Chihara. Celia and I make up the Six Attribute Masters group. Or was until one of our members split up." The boy now named Rock explained.
"Well get him back soon enough. No one leaves the Six Attribute Masters group!" Celia says as she readied her due disk. "Come on, Rock! Let's show them what we can do!"
"Right back at you." Rock readied his duel disk.
"As you're aware, I also have decks based on attribute. I'll be choosing my fire deck this time!" Bastion declared as he took out one of his deck boxes and placed it in his deck slot.
"Get your game on you two!" Jaden replied as he activated his duel disk.
Celia & Rock: 8000 LP
Bastion and Jaden: 8000 LP
"I'll start this off if you don't mind? My turn, draw!" Celia draws.
Hand 6
"First up, I summon Flying Kamakuri #1 in attack mode (Atk: 1400 Def: 900)" The insect emerges onto the field with a buzzing sound. "Next, I set one card facedown and end my turn." Celia ends her turn.
Hand 4
"Very well, it's my turn. I draw!" Bastion draws.
Hand 6
"First, I summon Pyramid Turtle in attack mode! (Atk: 1200 Def: 1400)" The zombie like turtle appears onto the field. "Battle, attack that Flying Kamakuri #1!"
"Whoa, slow down Bastion! Your monster is weaker than it!" Jaden pointed out.
"That's what I want, Jaden!" As Pyramid Turtle charged in for an attack. Flying Kamakuri flew towards it and retaliated, destroying Pyramid Turtle.
Bastion & Jaden: 8000 – 7800 LP
"Pyramid Turtle's effect now activates. When it's destroyed in battle, I can special summon a level 4 or lower zombie type monster from my deck with 2000 or fewer defense points! Here's my new monster, appear Goka, the Prye of Malice! (Atk: 2200 Def: 1900)" A large green canister appeared onto the field. From the top a raging flame spirit came out from the canister and released many fiery flames.
"What kind of monster is that?" Celia asked. "Never seen such a thing before."
"This is a special card indeed. Before I can show off its effect, it's still by battle phase! Goka, attack her Flying Kamakuri!" The flaming spirit launched various fireballs at the insect, burning it down before destroying it.
Celia & Rock: 8000 – 7200 LP
"Don't forget Flying Kamakuri also has a floating effect. In this case, I can special summon a wind monster with 1500 or fewer attack points. I special summon Chain Thrasher! (Atk: 1000 Def: 600)" A blonde warrior who wore white bandages that covered his right arm and right leg, emerged onto the field. He carried a spear with a long chain attached to it.
"I set one card facedown and end my turn." Bastion ends his turn.
Hand 4
"I'm not holding back! It's my turn, I draw!" Rock draws.
Hand 6
"I'll tribute the Chain Thrasher to tribute summon Granmarg the Rock Monarch! (Atk: 2400 Def: 1000)" The rock monarch emerged onto the field.
"Monarch cards seem to be popular with you guys, huh? It's not just Red Hat that like monarchs." Jaden questioned.
"All of us have one monarch of our attribute, just not all of them." Rock corrected. "Now time for his effect, when tribute summoned, he can destroy a set card on the field. The facedown card is destroyed!" Granmarg conjured a stone pillar and threw it at the facedown.
"Chain trap card! Ring of Destruction! I'll destroy your monster and we both take damage equal to its attack points!" As the trap was chained, a ring loaded with grenades attached itself onto Granmarg. After a few seconds, the grenades detonated and Granmarg blew up, both players taking damage.
Celia & Rock: 7200 – 4800 LP
Bastion & Jaden: 7800 – 5400 LP
"Damn, I'll set one card facedown and end my turn." Rock ends his turn.
Hand 4
"Alright, it's my turn, I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 6
"Goka's effect now activates! During each of our standby phases, Goka creates a Fireball Token in defense position! (Atk: 100 Def: 100)" Bastion pointed out as the flame spirit created a fireball token right next to the canister. "Its other effect is by tributing one fire monster, including the tokens it creates, it raises it's attack points by 500 for the turn only."
"Basically, stalling, boosting or using it as tribute fodder…" Celia said.
"Nice work, Bastion! Now, take to the skies, Elemental HERO Stratos! (Atk: 1800 Def: 300)" The airblade hero emerged onto the field. "Now, it's effect allows me to add an Elemental HERO! I'll search Elemental HERO Bladedge! Next, I play Polymerization! I fuse Elemental HERO Bladedge and Wildheart to fusion summon, Elemental HERO Wildedge! (Atk: 2600 Def: 2300)" Wildedge emerged onto the field.
Bastion took a look at the field and frowned. If they attacked directly now, they would win the duel. However, their opponents have two facedown cards. It's unlikely they were bluffs and were waiting for them to attack. This had to be a trap and he has to warn Jaden. "Jaden, don't attack just yet."
Jaden looked at him confused. "What do you mean by that, Bastion?"
"Before you attack, be warry of their trap cards. They could be setting us up." Bastion explained.
Jaden merely smiled at him. "Not to worry Bastion. If you're that worried. Then I'll switch Goka the Pyre Malice to defense mode." The flame spirits returned back into the canister.
"Not exactly what I had in mind." Bastion dead panned.
"Battle, Wildedge attack them directly!" Wildedge dashed forward, took its sword from it back was about to slash their opponent.
Celia gritted her teeth, not taking any more chances at the moment. "I activate my trap card! Go, Mirror Force! All your attack position monsters are destroyed!" Wildedge attacked the barrier and soon got obliterated alongside Stratos. Goka the Pyre Malice and the token remained on the field.
Jaden sweat dropped after the blast. "Man, bummer. Good thing I switch Goka to defense mode, right Bastion?"
"Well, I did have to remind you that they set up a trap. Otherwise, all our monsters would be destroyed and we'd only have the token." Bastion replied.
Jaden rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Well, I can keep going. I play the spell card The Warrior Returning Alive! I'll add back Elemental HERO Stratos from my graveyard to my hand. I set one card facedown and end my turn." Jaden ends his turn.
Hand 2
"Won't let this go. My turn, I draw!" Celia draws.
Hand 5
"I play the spell card Graceful Charity! I draw 3 cards then discard 2!" Celia draws her cards and discards Chain Thrasher and Guardian Elma. "I activate the spell card Reinforcement of the Army to add a level 4 or lower warrior monster from my deck to my hand! With this I'll add my final Chain Trasher to my hand!"
"How exactly is this helping her?" Jaden asked, confused by her play.
"You'll find out soon enough after I summon the third Chain Thrasher onto the field! (Atk: 1000 Def: 600)" The final Chain Thrasher emerged onto the field. "Now I play the equip spell card Phalanx Pike! Thanks to this card, Chain Thrasher gains 900 attack points for every card in either graveyard with the same name! Since there's two copies of the card in my graveyard, his attack is now 2800!" Chain Thrasher's weapon was soon replaced by a more powerful staff. (Atk: 1000 – 2800 Def: 600)
"Not good."
Celia smiled at them. "It's going to get worse. Chain Thrasher gains 1 additional attack for every copy of himself that's in the graveyard. Since there's two copies in the graveyard, he can attack three times!"
"Brace yourself, Jaden."
"Battle, Chain Thrasher attack his token!" Chain Thrasher charges forward and stabs the fireball token and destroys it. "Attack again, this time at Goka!" The warrior turns around and stabs the spirit inside the green canister as it explodes.
"Activate trap card, Hero Signal! Since you destroyed a monster in battle, I can special summon a level 4 or lower Elemental HERO from my deck! Defend us, Elemental HERO Sparkman in defense mode! (Atk: 1600 Def: 1400)" Sparkman emerged onto the field as crouched and crossed his arms.
"You'll need him! Chain Thrasher attack his Sparkman!" Chain Thrasher turned around once more and stabbed Sparkman and destroying him. "I set one card facedown and end my turn." Celia ends her turn.
Hand 2
"I won't fall behind. It's my turn, I draw!" Bastion draws.
Hand 5
"I also play my own Graceful Charity!" Bastion draws his cards and discards Solar Flare Dragon and Mezuki. "I summon Solar Flare Dragon in attack mode! (Atk: 1500 Def: 1000)" A flaming serpent like dragon emerged onto the field. Releasing powerful flames around its body. "I set two cards facedown and end my turn! Solar Flare Dragon effect activates! During my end phase, Solar Flare Dragon inflicts 500 burn damage to my opponent!" Bastion ends his turn as the fire dragon launched a fireball at Celia.
Celia & Rock: 4800 – 4300 LP
Hand 2
"My turn, I draw!" Rock draws.
Hand 5
'Damn, this is not a good hand…' Rock thought as he observed his hand.
"Something the matter, Rock? Hope you got something in store!" Celia called out.
Rock snapped out of his thoughts and continued with his turn. "Right! I play the spell Card Destruction! We discard out hands, then we redraw by the same amount we discarded!" Rock discards four cards while Bastions discards two. They both redrew the same number of cards.
"Now, I banish five rock type monsters in my graveyard to special summon this card, come out Megarock Dragon! (Atk: ? Def: ?)" A massive four-legged dragon emerged onto the field. The dragon's body was covered in heavy rock spikes and most of its body seem to be rocky.
"Wow, what a cool looking monster! All made of rock too?" Jaden said, excited to see such a monster.
'Excited as always, Jaden.' Bastion thought, sweat dropping at Jaden's reaction. Knowing full well Jaden gets excited to see new monsters.
"Megarock Dragon's effect, he gains 700 attack and defense points for every rock type monster I banished! Since I banished 5 rock type monsters, his stats are now 3500! (Atk: ? – 3500 Def: ? – 3500) "It's all over now! Battle, Megarock Dragon attack his Solar Flare Dragon!" As the dragon began to release energy from its maw.
"Not so fast! I activate my continuous trap card, Call of the Haunted! With this, I bring back the second Solar Flare Dragon I discarded earlier! Appear the second Solar Flare Dragon! (Atk: 1500 Def: 1000)" A second Solar Flare dragon emerged onto the field. Both dragons released a powerful wall of fire. "When Solar Flare Dragon is on the field, if I control another pyro-type monster, this card cannot be attacked. However, since I control two Solar Flare Dragons on the field, their effects loop! Meaning you can't attack my Solar Flare Dragons at all!" Megarock Dragon continued its attack, but its attack was blocked off by the massive firewall the Solar Flare Dragon's created.
"Damn… I set a monster facedown and set one card facedown and end my turn!" Rock ends his turn.
Hand 1
"Alright, let's have some fun. It's my turn, I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 3
"I play the spell card Fusion Recovery! I add back Polymerization and Wildheart back to my hand." Jaden added said cards back to his hand. "Now, time to summon Elemental HERO Stratos! (Atk: 1800 Def: 300)" The air blade hero reemerged onto the field. "Now with Stratos effect, I can add another Elemental HERO! I'll add Elemental HERO Necroshade!" Jaden add another HERO card to his hand.
"Just what are you trying to accomplish?" Rock questioned, not quite catching on to his play.
"You'll find out! I play Polymerization! I fuse Elemental HERO Wildheart and Necroshade to fusion summon, Elemental HERO Necroid Shamen! (Atk: 1900 Def: 1800)" The shaman emerged onto the field. "Now for his effect! When summoned, I can destroy one monster you control! So goodbye Chain Thrasher and I'll bring back a different one to take his place!" Necroid Shamen created a chance and soon Chain Trasher disappeared before being replaced with a different one. (Atk: 1000 Def: 600)
"So what? My Megarock Dragon is still on the field!" Rock remined him.
"Oh well, it's time to battle! Stratos attack that Chain Thrasher!" The air blade hero flies up and begins to descend for an attack.
"Not happening! Go trap card, Sakuretsu Armor! Your attacking monster is destroyed!" An armored looking beast emerged and pierced through Stratos, destroying him.
"Fine then, Necroid Shamen attack that Chain Thrasher!" The shaman leaped forward and readied his staff.
"Like I said, you aren't getting through! I activate the trap card Widespread Ruin! Your strongest monster is destroyed!" A mine appeared on the field. As soon as Necroid Shaman got close, the mine detonated and destroyed him.
Jaden covered himself from the explosion. "Man, you aren't letting up. But I still got Bastion's Solar Flare Dragons to attack you with! Attack that Chain Thrasher!" The fire dragon released a ball of fire at the warrior and burned him down before destroying him.
Celia & Rock: 4300 – 3800 LP
"Now, I'll use the second Solar Flare Dragon to attack your facedown monster!" The second fire dragon launched a stream of fire from its maw at the facedown monster. The monster revealed was what appeared to be a rocky guardian crossing its arms as it held a stone staff. It blocked off the stream of fire effortlessly as the remaining flames reached Jaden as he took damage. (Atk: 100 Def: ? – 3500)
Bastion & Jaden: 5400 – 3400 LP
"How does that monster have that many defense points?" Jaden asked, confused to how that monster that high of defensive power. Since most level four monsters don't have that high of defense points.
"The monster you attacked was Lost Guardian! His defense points equal to the number of my banished rock-type monsters x700!" Rock explained with a smug look on his face. "Since I banished five rock-type monsters his defense points are 3500. You aren't destroying this by battle anytime soon."
"Bummer… I set one card facedown and end my turn. Since both Solar Flare Dragons are on the field, they both deal 500 damage to you!" Jaden ends his turn as both Solar Flare Dragon launched a stream of flames at both opponents.
Celia & Rock: 3800 – 2800 LP
Hand 0
"Agh, you won't stop my winds that easily! My turn, I draw!" Celia draws.
Hand 3
"I play the spell Pot of Greed!" Celia draws her cards and smiles. "I activate the quick play spell, Twister! By paying 500 LP I can destroy a face-up spell or trap on the field! I'll destroy that Call of the Haunted!" A twister of strong winds appeared on the field and blew away the continuous trap card, destroying the Solar Flare Dragon in the process.
Celia & Rock: 2800 – 2300 LP
"I play my second copy of ROTA! You know what that means. This time I'll add Chaosrider Gustaph and I'll summon him right away! (Atk: 1400 Def: 1500)" As Celia adds the card, shuffles her deck and summons the monster. A fiend with red armor and spiked shoulder blades appeared while riding a red colored motorcycle. "Time for his effect! Once per turn, I can banish up to two spell cards from my graveyard to boost this card's attack by 300 extra attack points until the end phase I'll banish both of my ROTAs to raise my monster's attack to 2000!" As two of her spells were ejected from her duel disk, the chaos rider began revving up his motorcycle. (Atk: 1400 – 2000 Def: 1500)
"Jaden, hope your trap card can save us. Otherwise, we lose this turn!" Bastion pointed out.
"I got you covered Bastion! No need to worry!" Jaden assured him.
"Yeah, I'm not going to give you a chance! I discard one card from my hand to special summon The Tricky! (Atk: 2000 Def: 1200)" Celia discards Lucky Iron Axe as The Tricky emerged onto the field. "Time to battle! Chaosrider Gustaph attack that Solar Flare Dragon!" The fiend drove towards the fire dragon and slashed it with his sword and drove back to his position.
Bastion & Jaden: 3400 – 2900 LP
"The Tricky, attack them directly!" The Tricky leaped high into the air and began to spin around and kicked Jaden forward, causing him to stumble.
Bastion & Jaden: 2900 – 900 LP
"Accept your loss and join us! Megarock Dragon attack them directly and end this duel!" Megarock Dragon began to launched a beam directly at Jaden.
"This time, it's my turn to activate a trap card! Go Sakuretsu Armor! Now your attacking monster is destroyed!" The armored beast returned to the field and charged forwards, being unaffected by the blast and slammed itself at the rock dragon, destroying it.
"Why you little… Fine I end my turn!" Celia ends her turn. Chaosrider Gustaph attack returned to normal. (Atk: 2000 – 1400 Def: 1500)
Hand 0
"We're low on LP, but we won't fall behind! It's my turn, I draw!" Bastion draws.
Hand 3
"I think it's time I end this duel!" Bastion declared, which confused the Sol duo.
"How can you? Even if you destroy my monster, we still have a wall on the field. So, you won't touch us that easily!" Celia pointed out.
Bastion lightly chuckled at her comment. "It's quite simple actually. First, I'll activate a monster effect from my graveyard."
Celia and Rock had a confused look on their faces. Activating a monster effect from his graveyard? Most monsters they knew only activated during the end phase, when destroyed by battle, or if sent to the graveyard. Some like Sacred Phoenix have specific requirements to activate their effects from the graveyard. Most other monster effects in the graveyard are passive effect. What could he possibly have?
"What's the matter? Trying to figure out what I have? Well then, I'll show you what I have." Bastion said as he ejected a special monster from his graveyard. What emerged was a demonic horse-like monster wielding an axe. "This is a card known as Mizuki. By banishing him from my graveyard I'm allowed to special summon one zombie-type monster from my graveyard! I'm bringing back Goka, the Prye Malice! (Atk: 2200 Def: 1900)" Mezuki disappeared for a moment then reappeared carrying the large green canister, that contained the flaming spirit, back onto the field before disappearing completely. "Despite what you may think, Goka is a zombie-type monster as I explained earlier."
"And to think that thing was a pyro-type monster. Still, what are you trying to do anyway?" Rock question Bastion's play.
"It's quite simple actually. I tribute Goka, the Pyre Malice to tribute summon the spirit monster, Dark Dust Spirit! (Atk: 2200 Def: 1800)" A reddish spirit that seem to resemble an ogre demon appeared onto the field. It had spikes all over it is shoulders and its arms, white hair and horns on its head. The spirit let out an ear-piercing roar.
Both tag teams covered their ears after the scream. "What kind of deck is this?" Celia asked, confused what was Bastion's deck theme. Since, he stated it was a fire deck.
"This deck isn't just a fire deck. It's also a deck based on Yokai and many demonic spiritualisms." Bastion explained which also caused confusion to the others. "Enough about that though, Dark Dust Spirit's effect now activates. When this card is summoned, it destroys all other face up monsters! Meaning, the two of you are now defenseless!" The spirit let out a dark pulse of energy with a scream, destroying both the rider and the Lost Guardian. "Battle, Dark Dust Spirit attack them directly!" The spirit conjured a black on its palm before slamming the ground. The dark mist then traveled towards both opponents before being blasted by the dark mist.
Celia & Rock: 2300 – 100 LP
Celia recovered after the mist was cleared. "We still have one hundred LP left! Next turn we'll definitely beat you! After all, Dark Dust Spirit being a spirit monster means it returns to your hand during your end phase!"
"Better double check your work." Bastion replied before smiling. "Reveal trap card, Spiritual Earth Art – Kurogane! By tributing an earth attribute monster on my field, I can special summon a different level 4 or lower earth attribute monster from my graveyard! What better card to special summon then Jaden's Elemental HERO Wildheart! (Atk: 1500 Def: 1600)" the spirits soon disappeared and was then replaced by Jaden's Elemental HERO.
"Don't forget, it's still the battle phase, meaning we win!" Jaden reminded them.
"This can't be!" exclaimed Rock.
"Oh, it can, Wildheart end this duel! Wild Slash!" Jaden commanded as Wildheart charged forward and swung his sword directly and Celia, depleting their LP.
Celia & Rock: 100 – 0 LP
Celia and Rock both collapsed to their hands and knees as they clutched their heads. Soon, the white energy was expelled from their bodies, leaving the exhausted. Alexis and Chazz knew what just happened and began to leave to do their repot.
"They have been freed… Tch, we can't afford to lose more members! That Jaden must not know he can free our members! We've already lost a few thanks to that devil weighing us down!" Chazz said angerly.
"First, we check what Jaden and the others have planned before we give our report. If what Master Sartorius said is true, then that means all is according to plan." Alexis flatly replied. "We don't have to worry about the Devil for a long while, if ever. Master Sartorius has no plans to keep sending our members to duel Jaden or the devil." Both Alexis and Chazz left the arena as they began their report.
Back with Jaden and Bastion. Syrus and Hassleberry left the stands and both tackled Jaden. Bastion was somewhat amused by their actions.
"Way to go, Jaden!" Syrus congratulated.
"I knew you two would take them down!" Hassleberry added.
"Well, I did help." Bastion stated before taking a look at his opponents. He frowned and got close to them to see the what was wrong. "Hey, is something wrong you two?"
Celia was the first to stand up and took a look at her surroundings. "What just happened? Agh, my head, why does it hurt? Did I just duel?" She questioned, not fully remembering what happened?
This caught Jaden's attention as he stood up. "You don't remember what happened? We just dueled you and your partner right here."
"Really now?" Celia said clutching her forehead with one hand. "Agh! I can't really remember what happened. After I dueled Alexis, everything else is a blur. Also, why are Rock and I wearing these white clothes anyway?"
"So, you really don't remember what happened?" Jaden asked.
Celia didn't answer back, instead paying attention to her partner instead. "Rock, you awake? It's time we leave!"
Rock slowly got up, only to jump in surprise when he saw Celia near him. "Ah! I'm awake now, Celia! What just happened anyway?" Rock questioned, also beginning to clutch his head as he also couldn't remember what happened.
"Never mind that. Let's head back and get the others if we can. No one splits from the six-attribute master's group!" Celia responds as she begins to walk away, with Rock following behind her. The duo completely ignoring Jaden's group.
"Well, that was… eventful." Bastion said. 'Why did it look like he was terrified at her?' He thought that last part.
"Say, we won the duel, right? That means, we get to decide the destination for the field trip!" Jaden pointed out.
Crowler stood up from the stands. "You may do as you like…." This didn't sit well with Bonaparte.
The entire Sol member stood up and glared at Jaden's group. While the rest of the academy students stood up, curious to see where Jaden and his gang wanted to go or planned to go.
Jaden picked up the microphone that was nearby as he began the announcement. "Well then, time to announce it! For our field trip, we're going to the sacred dueling grounds where the Yugi and Kaiba battled it out! Also, Yugi's home town, Domino City!" Jaden announced.
Obelisk White Dorm
Inside one of the many rooms in the Obelisk Blue dorm, the window being covered up by thick curtains. Sartorius sat near his table flipping over some tarot cards with a smile on his face.
"So, Jaden has won, has he? However, our fate has not been altered. If anything, it's quite appropriate." He flipped over a couple more tarot cards, only to frown at the reading he was given.
"How can this be?! The Devil is right-side up, yet The Tower is upside down? How can both of these have happened? The Devil must have been able to escape his predicament…" Sartorius lightly chuckled. "He may have been broken free, but not without consequences. He should be subdued for the time being."
Sartorius drew another card and revealed it with an amused grin. "I see, he and The Magician are working in tandem to some degree. It's been foretold the Magician can match the devil. If this is true, then fate has changed once again. The path on the other hand, remains the same. I'll keep personal tabs on those two. They cannot be allowed to interfere with fate's intended path."
Earlier at Slifer Red
Red Hat quickly attempted to make his way back to the dorm, despite his injuries he endured and maintaining cover from Zeadias attacks from above. The only thing he managed to do what summon defense after defense position monsters while hiding around the trees and bushes, still clutching his bleeding arm.
'Need to get to my room… I'll need more support…' He thought as he hurried his way back.
By the time he made it to the door of his room. Zeadias had already caught up to him. He was thankful that no one was around in the dorm at the moment. Everyone was at the duel arena. He hoped Jaden and Bastion were alright.
"Give up, demon! I'll destroy your hiding place and everything around you!"
"I already had to put up with Bonaparte destroying our dorm. I don't need a rogue spirit to destroy it too!" He spat as he summoned another wall. "Renge Gatekeeper of Dark World, hold him off!" A large bulky fiend emerged onto the field and covered himself with his overgrown palms. Ready to defend against any strike that came his way.
"You're only delaying the inevitable. Come out of hiding demon!" Zeadias fired another blast this time at Renge, attempting to overwhelm him.
'Not good, need to hurry!' Red Hat thought as he hurried to his room. Once he entered his room, ignoring the attacks that were going on outside. He opened his drawer and took various cards and placed them on top of his current deck, not caring for the penalty it may cause him later.
'In a duel of darkness, if the monsters are real. Then so must be the powers of the card's abilities and other support, like equips and traps. One way to find out' He thought as he went back outside, still clutching his bleeding arm. He noticed that Renge has just been destroyed.
"Finally ready to surrender, Devil?" Zeadias asked, amused by Red Hat's weakened state.
"No… Just decided to do this the old fashion way… Come out, Familiar Possessed -Wynn! (Atk: 1850 Def: 1500)" Wynn emerged onto the field taking a stance.
"Hope you know what you're doing. You're in no condition to keep fighting." Wynn said worryingly.
"I have it figured out… I hope…" He muttered that last part as he set a facedown.
"Enough games, you will die now!" Zeadias charges up his attack with his weapon.
In a rush, Red Hat activated his trap. "Go trap, Spiritual Wind Art – Miyabi! This should severely weaken you! Wynn, do you thing!"
Wynn began chanting in a language unknown to Red Hat. Her eyes glowed green as she created a powerful wind storm blowing away and pushing Zeadias down to the ground.
'I can't stay in this realm. That kind of power cost me so much energy. I won't be able to communicate with you for some time…' Wynn said as she disappeared back to the spirit realm.
'Thanks Wynn, that gave me the time to stop him. The light of destruction within Zeadias is out of control.' He thought as he kept drawing and discarding cards as quickly as possible until before Zeadias fully recovered.
"I won't be made into a mockery by you!" Zeadias sneered as he readied his spear again.
"Try me! Come out, Familiar Possessed Hiita! (Atk: 1850 Def: 1500)" Hiita emerged onto the field and twirled her staff.
"Heh, you don't call me out very often. Want me to burn this guy down?" Hiita asked with a smirk.
"Not yet, I'll equip you with the equip spell Salamandra!" Hiita's staff was soon replaced by a large sword which emitted flames. Hiita gladly picked it up and used her own power to boost the flames. (Atk: 1850 – 2550 Def: 1500) "Hiita, let him have it!"
"Heh heh, now were talking! Feel the wrath of my crimson flames!" Hiita launched a blast of red flames from the sword as it traveled forward and Zeadias took a direct hit from the flames, weakening him. "Had enough yet?" Hiita taunted the spirit.
Panting, yet still being able to get up, Zeadias took a stand and readied his spear again. "I don't care if my life is compromised, I'll destroy that devil once and for all!"
"Okay… he's lost it..." Hiita muttered.
"I set one card facedown!" Red Hat set a card facedown as Zeadias began to strike again.
"Did you forget who's protecting him? Guess those fumes have fried your brain!" Hiita taunted as she readied her new power once more.
Red Hat, wanting to end this here and now, decided this was his last shot. "Go trap, Spirit Fire Art – Kurenai! Hiita bring him down and end this!"
Hiita dropped her weapon and let out a battle cry. She charged straight to her opponent and grabbed him by the neck with both hands. "Time to incinerate you! Burn!" Hiita unleashed her crimson power and unleashed her power on Zeadias. He tried to break free from being burnt down, but was too weak to do so.
Soon with a massive explosion, both Hiita and Zeadias disappeared completely. Red Hat must have believed he finally defeated his stubborn foe for the time being. Noticing the fire around the field, he quickly drew his final card, which so happened to be Eria.
"Eria, hurry and come out. Put out the flames!"
His final spirit friend emerged and noticed why she was called for. "Hiita getting carried away again huh?" Using her magic, she put out the remaining flames that were left behind using her water magic. She also made sure the burn marks didn't remain either by washing them away slightly.
With a sigh of relief, Red Hat shut off his duel disk as there was no opponent to face off. His mark stopped glowing which caused Eria to return to spirit form. Feeling exhausted, and injured, he quickly made his way to the Slifer Red cafeteria. Shutting the doors, he made it to the back of the kitchen where he took off his duel disk and his red blazer.
Rinsing himself from all the blood, despite the sensations, he refused to yelp or scream, though he let out a few grunts from the pain he endured. Looking through the cabinets he took out a few napkins, a knife, and some scissors. He looked through the fridge, and while there wasn't much, he noticed there were some lemons inside. Once he took out a couple of them and slice them in half.
He first cut the sleeves of his damaged blazer to make sure it would wrap around his wound once he was done. He then squeezed the lemons as hard as he could as it let lemon juice onto his wound. He yelped and panted from the sting of the lemon juice entering his cuts.
After squeezing enough lemon juice. He cleaned off his wound with a small towel and covered his wound with the napkins. He then wrapped his arm with the cut sleeves tied it up as hard as he could, even double knotting it to make sure it would come off for now. He even made sure to cover his brand with the leftover cut off sleeve he reserved.
Once all was said and done, he slowly passed out in the kitchen from exhaustion and fatigue.
Eria the Water Charmer floated next to him to keep an eye on him. 'That was rather foolish of you. Acting like a lone wolf isn't helping you in the slightest. Still, there wasn't anything else you could do…' With a sigh, she sat next to him and kept watch. 'So stubborn you are, at least you're safe. Your friends will be worried sick once they see this catastrophe you made. Rest well…' She would stay next to him for the time being, making sure he was alright.
Later that Evening
Later that evening after the announcement Jaden gave out for their field trip. Jaden and his gang began to head back to the Slifer Red dorm to begin their preparations for tomorrow. Little did they know what they would soon see.
"Hey guys, anyone know where Red Hat is?" Jaden asked, finding it weird that Red Hat isn't with them.
"We haven't seen him all day, Jay." Syrus replied, equally as confused as he was.
"He didn't watch the duel and we haven't heard from him since we left the Chancellors office. Where could that soldier run off to anyway?" Hassleberry wondered.
The gang continued to head back to their dorm. As they walked back, they noticed some fallen trees and burnt marks along the way. Something told them this wasn't natural and someone caused it.
"Um… I'm not liking this…" Syrus muttered.
"Some of those trees looked like they were blown apart, not cut down. Something isn't right here." Bastion pointed out, knowing full well no one would try to cut down some of the trees they saw, let alone blown off by natural means.
"You think Red Hat had something to do with it?" Hassleberry wondered. Curious as to who else could have been out here besides Red Hat.
"Only one way to find out. Let's check the dorm." Jaden said as he ran off, with his friends following close behind.
They search Red Hat's room and found no trace of him, other then the fact he's been here. One thing they did notice was the small traces of blood. This did not sit well with them. They took a look at Jaden's room as well every bit of Chazz's room and found no trace of him. Not liking where this was going. They head to the last possible place at the Slifer Red dorm and that was the cafeteria.
As they opened the door, they found someone laying on the floor. They also noticed a discarded Slifer Red blazer.
"We have a man down! Let's check him out!" Hassleberry called out, as the group entered the back of the kitchen.
Once they entered, they found out Red Hat has been lying there for who knows how long. His right arm was wrapped by the torn Slifer Red sleeves, a second piece of the sleeve was wrapped around his left wrist, despite no injuries seem to be there, there was various napkins, a couple of lemons and utensils at the sink. His duel disk and his card were on the floor next to him. Just what happened to him?
"He's injured yet never went to the infirmary? What happened to him anyway?" Hassleberry asked, confused as to why he'd be here of all places.
Bastion looked at the utensils that were used. "It looks like he tried to cure his wounds himself. Lemon juice of all thing… that's going to sting and not exactly a good way to clean off a wound."
Jaden gently shook Red Hat to get him to wake up. "Red Hat, are you okay? Wake up."
After being gently shaken about. Red Hat slowly woke up from his sleep and sat up groaning at the slight pain of his right arm. "Jaden? And the rest of you… When do you all get here…"
"No time for games, son. Just what happened to you to get these kinds of wounds. Don't tell us you engaged in combat without support. A soldier doesn't fight alone." Hassleberry asked with concern.
"You seemed to be involved in a duel, judging by the fact you have your duel disk and card with you. It couldn't have been a fight with any of the Society of Light members." Bastion inferred.
"You wouldn't understand…" Red Hat picked up his duel disk and slowly stood back up, while grasping his right arm where the injury was. "Jaden… you and I talk in private in Chazz's room, okay."
This confused Jaden and his friends. Just what was he trying to hide, and did he only want to speak to Jaden anyway. "Um, whatever you say, but we all eventually want answers bro. You don't look to good and you don't seem to be doing well."
Red Hat gave him a weak smile. "Right… I'll do my best to explain it." Red Hat walked away from the group. Jaden soon followed him to Chazz room, leaving the others at the cafeteria confused.
After making sure the doors were properly locked. The Slifer duo sat down at the couch, both facing each other. "If you're wondering what happened. Duel Monster Spirits possessed by the light came after me. Rather then a duel, they decided to attack me head on with their weapons."
Jaden gave him a concern look. "Duel spirits? You mean like Jinzo only fully manifested? How could that be? Duel spirits don't just manifest on a whim, right? And they just attacked you for no reason?"
"While I fought back using my duel disk and using my cards, it came with a cost. Took a spear directly at my right arm. I'm lucky it didn't pierce right through…" Red hat replied as he pointed to his wound.
"If you were injured, why didn't you go to the infirmary?" Jaden asked.
Red Hat shook his head. "What would I tell Nurse Fontaine? A spirit sent by the light came to hunt me down and injured me? I don't think so. That's a one-way ticket to the nut house. It was better off if I took care of it myself."
"You could have asked us for help and we would have helped you out sooner, bro." Jaden replied.
"I didn't want to put you guys in any danger of these spirits. Besides, the light was specifically targeting me while you guys were too busy in the duel. I doubt they would have allowed you to leave the duel, let alone support me." Red Hat sighed. 'Even though, the light and the darkness in my brand is what triggers a duel of darkness in the first place. This was just an extreme case and lack of an idea on how to fight back on my part. I still wonder how strong that was it caused this much pain and be able to cause a wound.'
Jaden gave him a soft look. "Man, always handling things yourself. Duel spirits being possessed by the light are even more dangerous than we thought."
'Not exactly my first encounter either…' Red Hat muttered. "By the way, who exactly did you and Bastion dueled? Where exactly are we going?"
"We dueled against two Obelisk White students. Although something weird happened after Bastion and I ended the duel. They apparently don't remember what happened and appeared normal. They even questioned why they were wearing white instead of blue." Jaden explained, scratching the back of his head in confusion.
"Really now…" Red Hat replied. 'Looks like Jaden can free Sol members as well. To be expected since the Dark Ruler mentioned only Jaden and I can free them… Though he doesn't seem to be aware of it.' He noticed.
Jaden suddenly now smiled. "Since we won, we got to decide where we're going on the field trip! We're going to Yugi's home town, Domino city!"
Red Hat's eyes widened under his hat as he heard that. "Domino city? We're going there? Guess that should be a fun time." He replied with a look of distain. 'Can't tell you I also live there… Just in the Satellite district of Domino City. Don't want the light to follow me all the way back home.'
Jaden took noticed he was very excited. "You feeling alright? You look like you just seen a ghost?"
Red Hat shook his head and lightly chuckled. "It's nothing. Just feeling tired is all. Guess that means we're leaving the island tomorrow."
Jaden nodded with a smile. "Yeah, we're leaving first thing in the morning. We may even get to sleep while on the ship!"
Red Hat chuckled. "Can't wait. Should be a nice change of scenery for once." The two of them stood up, with Red Hat occasionally gripping his right arm slightly. As the exited Chazz's room, they noticed the others were standing outside. "Everything has been cleared up."
"You sure you'll be alright? We can help you out with anything, especially that wound of yours." Bastion asked, curious as he wanted to help him out.
"I'll be alright Bastion. Besides, a flash wound like this isn't exactly life threatening as you may think. It will heal after a while, even without checking up at the infirmary." Red Hat denied. "Say, I'll need a spare Slifer red blazer as my previous one was ruined."
"Um… I think we can get a spare from the locker rooms?" Syrus said, unsure if there would be any there at all or they would have to get another blazer manually from the staff.
Red Hat nodded. "Good enough I suppose. Just as a precaution, use my old one as reference." He said as he began to walk up the stairs and went to his room.
As he got back to his room. He cleaned it up a bit and prepared a couple of decks to take later on for the field trip. One of his decks was just a bunch of random cards. Just incase he would get into such a scenario again. Soon he laid down on his bed and fell into a deep sleep.
After a while, the group came back with a blazer. Noticing he was sound asleep; they left his replacement blazer on the chair near his desk and closed his door. Not wanting to disturb him any further.
A/N: This is the only time minor graphic details would be shown. You can think of it as a precursor before we reach the season 3 plotline. I'm not a huge fan of this kind of style, cause the anime never bothered to give any coherent rules on how those kinds of battles work, let alone summoning spirits for real. That was the best I could come up with for the time being.
As you notice, not only was the duel changed to a Tag Duel, it was also to showcase Bastion's fire deck mixed with some of his cards used in the Manga. Cause his first Tag Force 2 deck, while it is the fire deck, it's also a reference to his manga deck. As you can tell, not a fan of the original duel from the anime. If it wasn't obvious by now, I cut down on spectating because it gets annoying and gets on everyone's nerves when characters have to explain literally everything. It's why you rarely see chatter or thoughts. Especially when characters have to explain the painfully obvious. Not to mention constant boasting, which I also cut down. Just thought I mention that.
P.S: Arcana readings from the anime do not match those of the actual arcana readings. Do not take them too seriously as they aren't consistent no matter where you look.
