Chapter 28: Detective Dani and the Case of the Missing Teens Pt. 3

The teens mentally prepared themselves for what they might face. Seeing an opportunity to get some questions answered, Dani turned to Dash. "I have a question for you. In one of my visions I saw you hanging out with some blonde woman until Batman showed up. Do you know why I was shown that, and who was that lady?"

"How much did you see?"

"I saw you and that lady laughing outside then saw Batman watching you from a distance."

"So not much then. For starters that woman is my Aunt Harley and Batman was there because she escaped Arkham to hang out with me." He saw the female halfa about to ask another question and stopped her. "Please leave all questions until the end of the story. Anyway when my aunt went to take cover from the rain I decided to confront the moody bat fursana and ask him why he was stalking us all day."

"You know Batman's not a furry, right?"

"This is my story and I'll call Batman whatever I want. First I questioned him on how long he was going to keep stalking us since it was annoying. He wanted to know how long I knew so I told him. Then he asked how I got up the building so fast and I told him the answer was in my name then proved it. I could tell he wanted to know how I got my powers but I'm not going to make it easy on the supposed 'World's Greatest Detective'. I told him to figure it out himself before meeting back up with Aunt Harley."

"So you have super speed..." Dani turned to the others. "What about you guys? What're your powers?"

Everyone glanced around the small space, not really wanting to be first. Tired of the uncomfortable silence Dash put an arm around his boyfriend. "Why don't you tell her your powers first babe. It's probably the best out of all of us."

"If you could see some of the things I see you wouldn't think that about my powers."

Dash squished the other boys face. "We've talked about this Wes, talking negatively about your powers is just another way of talking bad about yourself."

"I know but you tend to ignore the bad side to these powers." Wes awkwardly cleared his throat. "Let's get this over with. My powers are mostly sight based. I have x-ray vision, heat vision, ectoplasmic vision, etc. Basically any power specializing in eyesight I either use or can learn. The main power I use and am being trained to utilize is parallel viewing and future vision. The Clockwork of this world has been teaching how to control it better. That's all I'm going to say, Mikey you go next."

Mikey sighed nervously. "Do I really have to? It's not really anything special."

"Yes."

"Okay... I can understand any language, I can duplicate any object I've ever come into contact with, and I can tell when someone's lying" Mikey avoided everyone's gaze. "Can someone else please go next?"

Paulina unbuckled herself and stood in the middle of the jet. "I guess I'll go next, my powers really amazing after all!" Her skin started growing patches of fur. She started shrinking in size until there was a calico kitten in her place. "Don't I look adorable?"

Dani couldn't help but coo at the tiny kitten. "Of course! How many animals can you turn into?"

Paulina changed back. "Not sure, I've never counted. I don't even have to use my animal attributes, see!" Her nails turned into glowing green claws. "Your up Star."

Star stood up quietly. "If I have to. My powers mostly rely on my voice. I can use telepathy, imitate sounds and other voices, and what I've come to learn that only mermaids and sirens are supposed to have is a hypnotic song."

"You said your powers mostly relied on your voice. Do you have any powers that doesn't rely on it?"

Star was quiet for a moment. "I do but I don't remember what it's called."

"Maybe you can describe it."

"Its that thing bats do to get around."

"You mean echolocation?"

"Yes that's it!"

Auto Jack spoke up from the pilot seat. "You are nearing your location. Gear up and kick ghost butt!"

The teens and preteen made last minute preparations and got their gear ready. As the jet got closer to a building surrounded by thick woods Dash handed out Fenton phones. "We're all going to separate parts of this compound. Destroy anything that looks important and free our friends from their control. I hope none of us get captured in the process, good luck!"

Dani gulped, was this really the plan? What were they going to find once inside? There was only one way to find out. Once she was off the jet its doors closed and turned in invisible. Looking around the halfa noticed everyone else had already disappeared. She sighed, "I guess I should get going then..."

The building itself wasn't anything special, at least on the outside. It was covered in vines and the windows were boarded up, but Dani knew looks could be deceiving. Turning in visible and intangible her eyes were assaulted by pure white. The floors, walls and ceiling were all an agonizingly bright white. "Ugh, my eyes!" The alarms started sounding and the hallways were soon swarming with GIW agents. At first Dani thought they knew she was here but the men screaming like little girls squashed that thought. A few minutes later a tiger ran through the hallway attacking any agent that was too close.

"I thought you said you wanted to fight, but I guess you're all mice I'll enjoy playing with!" An unfortunate agent that looked new got shoved towards Paulina. The agent coward in fear, not sure what she would do. Paulina stepped over the newbie and lunged for the one that shoved him. The agent screamed in pain as the tiger bit into his arm. "That was cowardly of you. Be grateful I don't kill others like you do."

Dani flew out of the hallway as some of the other agents came back with weapons. This hallway had several doors. Phasing through the first one the female halfa saw what looked like a gym. It didn't seem important so she moved on. Behind the second door were several computers. Wes was going to each one downloading files before each one exploded. "Tucker really knew what he was talking about. Have you found anyone yet, Dani?"

"Not yet, you guys seem to work quick though."

"We've been to three other facilities and the layout has been exactly the same. Try the next hallway, Dash and Mikey are going to need help freeing Kwan."

"Who else is here?"

"If my vision is correct, and they always are, Nathan will be in a testing room. They're taking samples of his blood to study his healing powers. Destroy those samples. Don't miss a single one!"

"On it!" Following Wes' directions, it didn't take long for Dani to find the brown haired teen unconscious on a metal table. Several needles were poking into his skin drawing a glowing red liquid. Dani was careful taking out the needles and used her ecto-rays to melt each one into goo. The last needle was apparently attached to a sedative that was keeping Nathan asleep. As soon as it was removed he woke up screaming.

"Please stop! I'm just a regular kid I swear!"

Dani quickly covered his mouth. "Nathan calm down! We're here to rescue you! Are you feeling okay?"

Nathan slowly got off the metal table. "I-I think so... Who else is here?"

"Dash, Paulina, Wes, Star and Mikey. Also Dash and Mikey are helping free Kwan."

"If it's alright with you can I find someplace to hide until this is all over?"

"Sure, I'll take you back to the jet." Dani split herself in two. One of her grabbed Nathan and phased through the wall. The other went in search of Dash and Mikey. "I should've asked Wes where they were."

After several minutes and blasting random agents, Dani found Dash and Mikey fighting Kwan or Kwans. There were three Kwans fighting the other two boys, well Dash was fighting. One of the Kwans was giving Mikey a wedgie. "How do we stop them?"

Dash threw his best friend into a wall. "The original Kwan has a collar on him. Find him and remove it. Check the gym, it should have a basketball court."

Dani should've known there actually was a reason for a testing facility to have a gym. She nodded and flew back to where she had found said gym. Taking more than a passing glance into the room, Dani still didn't see Kwan. Going deeper into the gym, the female halfa could hear splashing. Through a different door at the back was a pool that took up half of the room. Kwan was at one end playing basketball with himself. There was a hoop hanging above the pool that he would throw a basketball into.

Thinking it was best not to let him know she was here, the half ghost turned invisible. Getting as close as possible without alerting the jock, Dani was about to grab the collar around Kwan's neck when he multiplied and grabbed her arms. "Wah!?"

"If you've come to play basketball then you've come to the right place. We can play some two on two or race in this pool!" They started dragging her in different directions, almost drowning the preteen in the process.

Finally using her intangibility, Dani used the boy's confusion to grab the collar. "Sorry I don't feel like playing right now. And judging by those looks you don't want to play anymore either."

The Kwans became one and slowly made his way to the side of the pool. "What happened? Why do I feel so sick?"

"I can answer that for you later, but first let's get you back to the jet." Dani made her way back through the halls, taking down any stray GIW agent that still happened to be awake. When they got back to the jet Star was there putting weapons inside. "I didn't see you at all Star. Where were you?"

"While everyone else fights I grab whatever weapons I can find before the facility gets blown up."

"How long until that happens?"

"As soon as we take off. We use detonators to make sure everyone gets evacuated before the explosion. Dash is currently putting all the agents in cuffs and cuffing them to trees a safe distance away."

"We can leave now. They're all secured and I sent a message to Tucker to hack into the Justice League database and have someone come collect them."

"Why not use their hotline?"

"This way is faster. Plus we still leave evidence with them to go with whatever investigation they're doing for this."

"If that's everything then let's get back to base. Hopefully we can get ahold of Dr. Tracy to look at Kean and Nathan." Once everyone was buckled in the jet took off and an explosion was heard in the distance.

A/N: This chapter should've been out sooner but I didn't realize my laptop wasn't saving anything until it was too late and when I had to rewrite everything from scratch I had writers block. I hope you enjoy though.
