"We're here!" Davis called as he was so excited. "We're finally in Ceruso City!"

Our heroes have finally arrived in Ceruso City so that Davis can finally have his first gym battle.

"I'm a little excited. I've never seen a real gym battle before." Terra said.

"Well, this will be a great learning experience for you." Cletus said. "It will be interesting to see what kind of gym this one is like."

"You won't have to wait any longer." Imperialdramon claimed.

"That's right." Davis said as he was pumped. "This is where we get our first gym win!"

I want to be the very best

Like no one ever was

To catch them is my real test

To train them is my cause

(Davis' voice): A Forest Metamorphosis

Now that they're in Ceruso City, Davis doesn't want to wait around for his gym battle. They all went straight there and were excited to see Davis' first gym battle.

"Here we are." Cletus said as they stood outside the gym. "Jason told us that this gym specialty is with bug-type pokemon."

"Well, I'm sure to win with Bluja." Davis said as he was feeling confident. Just then, a grown man with forest green hair dressed in all yellow came walking out.

"Hello? Is there something I can help you with?" The man asked.

"My name is Davis, and I want to challenge this gym!" Davis said.

"A challenger? Well, that's great. I work here at the gym, but I'm Ran isn't here."

"Is Ran the gym leader?" Terra asked.

"That's right. He isn't here at the moment, but you can find him in the woods. He's not just the gym leader, he's also a forest ranger."

"A forest ranger?" They all questioned. A gym leader and a forest ranger? Interesting combo.

...

The Woods

Davis and the others were rather curious about what Ran might be doing in the woods. All of them wanted to see a forest ranger in action. When they got there, they soon found a group of people working in the woods.

"Wow. There's a lot more people here than I thought." Imperialdramon said.

"It looks like they're all trying to help the woods. Are they all forest rangers?" Terra questioned.

"Which one could be Ran?" Davis questioned.

"Coming down!" They all saw someone use a rope to climb his way down from a tree using a rope. He had spiked blonde hair with him wearing a red hat and short jacket with him also wearing a black shirt and shorts with him wearing white gloves. "Everything is okay! You can bring them in!"

"Got it, Ran!"

"That's Ran?!" Davis said. Once he saw him, he hurried over to him. "Excuse me. Are you really Ran?"

"I am. Volunteers? I'm sorry, but we have everything handled." Ran said.

"We're not volunteers. We don't even know what's going on here." Terra said.

"Really? Let me show you." Ran said as he showed them something. "We're just making sure everything is set for these little guys." He showed them a bunch of bug pokemon. They're all small black worms with glossy eyes and had auburn furry collars.

"They're all Woolbug!" Terra said.

"Woolbug?" Davis questioned and used his pokedex.

"Woolbug, the Wool Worm Pokemon. A bug-type. Woolbug produce a silk that they coat themselves in for protection."

"Every year around this time, a large group of Woolbug evolve and begin a migration. As forest rangers, were aiding them to help ensure things go smoothly for them." Ran explained.

"Amazing! I've never seen an evolution before, but I know Woolbug evolve into Morphoris." Terra said. "Morphoris have beautiful wings."

"Do they?" Davis questioned. He used his pokedex to learn more about it. It came up and showed a butterfly-like pokemon. It had a head like Venimoth, but it was grey with a small body that had stubby arms and legs with curving antenna. It's wings had black outline with blue wings that sheened.

"Morphoris, the Lustrous Pokemon. A bug and flying-type, and the final evolve form of Woolbug. Sunlight reflects off its wings to give a sheen and shine look."

"Those wings do look rather beautiful." Cletus said.

"These little guys will evolve into Chrysapod. After that, they'll become Morphoris." Ran explained. "As forest rangers, it's our job to make sure the migration goes well without a problem. Speaking of which, if you're not volunteers, what brings all of you out here?"

"We're here for you. My name is Davis, and I came here to challenge your gym." Davis claimed.

"Oh, I see! You're a challenger!" Ran said. "I'm sorry, but this is going to need my attention. I should be free for a battle once it's done."

"That means we can see the evolution! Please, Davis. I've never seen it before!" Terra pleaded.

"I guess it would be cool to see." Davis claimed.

"I think it's happening right now! Look!" Cletus pointed out.

"Woolbug." The Woolbug were climbing up trees and walking on branches. Then, they all began to glow in bright light. They all started to hang off the trees and were now chrysalis with glossy eyes.

"Chrysapod."

"There! They have become Chrysapod!" Ran said. Seeing them, Davis pulled out his pokedex.

"Chrysapod, the Chrysalis Pokemon. A bug-type and the evolve form of Woolbug. Chrysapod are usually found hanging in trees. They don't normally move and store energy for their evolution."

"Wow! That's what evolving is like?!" Terra said.

"sure is, but that's only one sample of evolution." Ran said.

"One sample? Is there more than one?" Terra questioned.

"Every pokemon has a different evolution. Some evolve at different rates while others require assistance to evolve." Cletus explained.

"I don't get it." Terra said.

"It's simple once you understand it." Cletus said. "Some pokemon are capable of evolving. They evolve once they reach a level of strength and being cared for. Many are like that, but there are some that need an item that need to evolve. Take the pokemon known as Eevee for example, a pokemon with many different evolved forms.. It requires the use of evolution stones to take any of its forms. There are also some that need to meet certain conditions to evolve. For example, a Gligar needs to have a razor fang at night to become a Gliscore."

"I think I get it. Sounds like there are different kinds evolutions." Terra said.

"Yeah, but it's not everything." Davis claimed. "Some pojemon are great as they are. For example, my friend Ash has a Pikachu that's really strong, but is actually against the idea of evolving. It wants to stay as Pikachu."

"It all really comes down to the pokemon." Ran claimed. "Anyway, it really shouldn't take too long for them to evolve again. Chrysapods evolve quite quickly. We just need to wait and their migration can soon begin." They all liked how that sounded and couldn't wait.

The Forest

Meanwhile, in another part of the forest, a Magby was just walking along the forest when it soon spotted something. It noticed a piece of fruit that looked delicious.

"Magby!" Magby hurried over to the fruit and tried to get it. However, once Magby tried to reach it, someone else grabbed it. Magby saw an Aipom taking the fruit for itself. Magby was really mad and demanded that it hand over the fruit, but Aipom just stuck its tongue out and mocked Magby. Magby did not like that and used Flamethrower right at Aipom. It might have missed, but that fire started something very bad.

Davis' Group

"So, were really just going to stand here and watch? This needs your full attention?" Davis questioned as he thought this was rather boring.

"I know it might not be that exciting, but it's one of my responsibilities." Ran claimed. "A first ranger doesn't just protect the forest. They have to protect the inhabitants. I'm here to make sure nothing goes wrong."

"What exactly could go wrong?" Davis questioned as he saw no problems, but he just jinxed it.

"Ran! There's a fire! I see smoke!"

"Smoke?!" Ran said as that was bad. Ran took a look and saw the smoke as well, and it appeared to be growing. "Not good! It looks like it's heading this way!"

"I take back what I said!" Davis said as this was a serious situation. All of them hurried as fast as they could to do something about the fire.

...

The Fire

the flames were already spreading like a real wildfire. The flames were spreading and consuming the entire forest with Pokemon running for their lives. Ran and the others arrived and saw how bad it looked.

"This isn't good!" Ran said. "We need to do something about the flames fast!"

"Pocub can help!" Terra said as she reached for its pokeball. "Pocub, use Water Gun on the flames!"

"Pocub!" Once Pocub came out , Pocub started spraying water to try and out out the flames.

"We also need to get the pokemon to safety!" Ran claimed.

"We can help with that!" Cletus said. "Krookodile, give us a hand!"

"Krookodile!"

"Krookodile, use Dig and help all the pokemon get away from the fire!" Cletus ordered.

"We can help as well." Davis said. All of them got to work and did what they could to save the pokemon and put out the fire. Ran, Davis, and the others were tending to the pokemon to get out of the fire while Terra and Pocub tried to put out the fire. The problem was the flames were everywhere and Pocub couldn't keep shooting water.

"Hang in there, Pocub. You're our only water-type." Terra encouraged. Pocub was trying but it didn't look good. The fire was spreading everywhere and Pocub couldn't get all of it. "This isn't working. Water Gun isn't enough."

"I have an idea." Ran claimed. "Does your Pocub know Waterfall?"

"No. Would that help?" Terra questioned.

"Pocub, listen to me." Ran said with Pocub giving him some attention. "Focus on your water-type power. Once you have that, imagine a circle around yourself and let all that power out. I know it sounds tough, but you've got to try." Pocub wasn't too sure if it could do this, but it has to try to stop the fire. Pocub focused just like Ran said. Pocub envisioned it and then released the power. Then, a geyser of water erupted right underneath Pocub.

"Wow! That's incredible!" Terra said.

"And jus what I need. Beedrill, give us a hand!" Ran called as he released one of his pokemon.

"Sptree!"

"Use Pin Missile through the water!" Ran ordered. Beedrill did what he said and unleashed a series of pins through the water. As they pierced right through, the water sprayed everywhere with Pocub using its new attack to help put out the fire. They were covering more ground with that.

"Look at that!" Cletus said with he and Davis impressed and amazed.

"Incredible!" Davis said. He could also see that Ran had to have trained his bug-types well to pull that off. With help from Ran, they were able to get the fire under control. Eventually, they were able to put out the whole thing before too much damage was done and no innocent Pokemon got hurt from it.

...

Later

After the fire was snuffed out, Davis and the others returned to the Chrysapods. No harm was done to any of them, and they had to be close to evolving. As the sun was going down, they all saw the Chrysapods were glowing once again.

"Here it comes." Ran said as they all liked how this looked. Soon, all the Chrysapods evoked and were taking flight.

"Morph!" All of the Chrysapods evolved into Morphoris and were flying in the sky with their beautiful wings shining from the reflected sunlight. It was like magic lights floating in the sky.

"Wow! They really are beautiful!" Davis said.

"Even Gorgeous!" Terra said.

"Seeing beautiful things like this is one of the reasons I became a forest ranger." Ran claimed. "I get to see beautiful things like this in nature all the time. Of course, I have my responsibilities as gym leader to fulfill. Davis, I'll gladly take your battle tomorrow."

"Great! This is going to be my first gym battle in Grecko! I can't wait!" Davis claimed.

Pokemon evolving is certainly something incredible to see, and protecting them and nature can be quite rewarding. Now, it's time for Davis to have his gym battle against Ran. What kind of battle will it be? You don't want to miss it.
