(I know it says Eddie but it only means Venom, no Eddie or Toxin in this story)
Let's do this, one more time….
You may think you know the story, about how a young boy (or girl, depending on the universe) proves that they have a heart of a true hero by saving their childhood friend, now a bully, being granted with the awestruck power of One for All.
This is not that story.
My name is Izumi Midoriya, and for the last year we have been Japan's Number One Hero. Though my friend and coworker, Nebula has been catching up to us over the years, I wouldn't be surprised if she becomes Number 2 by the next year.
But are you sure you want to know my story? It's not for the faint of heart. If somebody said it was a happy little tale, if somebody told you we were just your average ordinary girl with not a care in the world with just a dream to be a Hero? Somebody lied.
But no matter how many hits we take, we always find a way to come back. This story is how we became the greatest hero.
This is how we became the one and only Spectacular Venom.
"A Pro is always laying his or her life on the line. So I just can't bring myself to tell you can become a Hero without a Quirk,"
The words rang in her head as she walked down a cracked sidewalk, the few stars twinkling back at her through the night sky. Feeling a vibration in her pocket, she pulls out her phone grimacing when she saw who it was, "Hey mom," she smiles as she answers but it didn't feel like her true smile.
"Izumi, baby where are you? You should have been home hours ago!"
Izumi sighs, "Sorry mom…I'm….I'm just having a bad day…and I didn't feel like going home yet," she bites at her lip, "I'll be home soon…I promise I..I just need some time to think,"
"Izumi…what happen?" she could hear the concern in her mother's voice. Izumi felt her heart throbbed in pain, her eyes welled up but she blinked back the tears, "Is it about Katsuki? I…I saw the news sweetheart. I saw you run in and help…you did more than those other three Heroes did,"
"Mom," Izumi whispers, clutching the phone, "I did nothing but cause trouble. Ka-" he froze a bit, Kaachan's advice ringing in her head. Closing her eyes tightly she takes another deep breath, "Bakugou wouldn't have been caught by the villain if I didn't mess with All Might," she hears her mom's confusion through the phone and Izumi gulps, "The sludge villain caught me first…and All Might saved me…but…I stopped him and asked him if I could be a Hero without a Quirk…and the villain got away from him because of my stupid question,"
Her mom was silent for a bit, "What did he tell you Izumi? What did All Might…"
"To face reality…" Izumi whispers, before shaking her head, "Not exactly that way…but he told me to look into being a doctor or a police officer…and I know he was trying to be helpful but," she sighs shaking her head even though her mom couldn't see her, "I'm sorry mom I just…I'll be home soon, I just need time to think,"
Her mom was silent, "Alright Izumi….just be safe…" Smiling a bit, Izumi tells her mom she loves her before hanging up. Putting her phone away she looked at the building she found herself in. It was abandoned, being half destroyed in a villain's fight…they said they would tear it down or even fix it up, but they never did, citing that other places needed to be focused on. Slipping through the bored-up doors, she smiles.
She gets on her knees, rummaging through her bag, planning on bringing out the notebook that Bakugou had burned. "I may not be a Hero but I can at least be a Quirk analyst. That is something I can do…"
Just as she pulled it out the whole building shook. Izumi looks up, green eyes wide. All around her the building seemed to glitched.
"On your left!"
"I got five o'clock! Three o'clock! Two o'clock!"
Izumi looked up, her eyes widening as in a brilliant light of colors, she could see figures fighting among soaring skyscrapers, flying buses and an anvil landing on someone, "What is going on?"
"You got a problem with cartoons?"
"Our worlds are coming to us!"
Unknown to Izumi, a hole appeared behind her, oozing black ooze. It laid in a puddle for a bit before slowly pulling itself up. It looked around a bit, before freezing at the sight of Izumi. The young girl was so occupied by what was happening that she didn't see it slowly slithers its way towards her. Never noticing how it cling to her leg, slowly crawling its way up into her back, slowly being absorbed into her body.
Izumi gasps, blinking her eyes as she tumbles. She pants a bit, heart thumping before she shakes her head looking up once more. She hisses, covering her eyes with her arm as a blue light exploded before it was all sucked in, leaving nothing but the night sky.
Pulling her arm back Izumi stares a bit more, before her shoulders slump. Grabbing her bag, she hefts it up on her shoulder, "I…better get home before mom really worries," she whispers to herself, her face scrunching up in pain.
The journey home seemed longer, her head throbbing in pain, her stomach churning. It felt like something was moving in her body, trying to find a nice spot to settle in. Her whole body was trembling when she got home, leaning against the doorframe taking deep breaths, "Izumi honey! Are you ok? I saw that light show-" her mother stops, staring at her with wide green eyes before she runs over to her.
Izumi doesn't remember most of what happened that night. She remembers her mom, helping her up and taking her to her room, removing the slime covered and burnt uniform. She could hear her mother's concern at the sight of the burn on her shoulder. She remembers being tucked into her bed, her hands gripping tightly to the blanket as she closes her eyes.
Tired…hungry…weak…it had been so long since it had a good host…one with so much emotion…but this host was weak…barley living. Only clinging to life because of a dream, a dream that while cracked was still strong….he could help with that. But she was weak…she needed to be strong!
Izumi turns in her sleep, sweat dripping off her form as muscle fibers break apart and sew themselves back together, each strand becoming stronger. The burn marked on her shoulder slowly faded away. Black ooze formed out of her body, staring at her face and tilting its head. This was the first time its Host was so young…so small…but he could see that she had potential…the few memories that he could see through the small bond they had reminded him of the Spider…which made him a bit angry, but he pushed that aside. Maybe being bonded to Parker and Eddie had made him soft…but he could tell he was in a different world now…and he had no idea if he could go back to it.
Or if he wanted to….now that Eddie was gone…
He lays down a bit, what would be called his head laying across her neck. Vibrating a bit, his mass began to slowly and with great care began to envelope the body of Izumi Midoriya.
"You will be strong, Izumi Midoriya. Stronger than the dream crusher you know as All Might. You will have strength you have never known…any wound you gain I will heal. You will never feel the need to run away, instead you will run into battle, no you will lead others into battle. You will bring a great change to this age of Heroes…many will fear you…but as someone once told me, with Great Power comes Great Responsibility….you will never be alone again child…for you will have me,"
Izumi wheezes in pain, sitting up and breathing heavily. She pulls her legs up, pressing her forehead against her knees. Shivering, blinking her eyes as the green slowly faded to a milky white…her body jerks, giving a loud gasping of pain, the black mass forming around her mouth to conceal the scream that wanted to erupt from her throat. No longer having the strength to sit up, her body falls over, before she rolls off the bed. Her hand shakily rises up, grabbing onto her blanket and pulling it off the bed. Shivering and trembling she curls in a ball, her eyes slowly shutting once more.
