"hey Tri, what's up" asks Jenna 'Lively' Jacobs
"you've sure grown" says Trina avoiding the question as Miley and Lilly giggle from afar
"wanna go out sometime, I'm retiring from government service next week so I can spend all my time here in LA, with you if you wish, the doctor I'd hired to replace me is dying and I need to return to my private practice" says Jenna
"that explains why he wouldn't see me for my appointment last week, your practice is the only one that will take me on as a patient, I have very little savings, he was going to recommend a dentist that would accept payment in chunks as opposed to all at once, when I made my appointment he said he'd worked out a deal with one" says Trina
"I can look at the file tomorrow but only if you agree to a date" says Jenna as people get on the roller-coaster
"that sounds very inappropriate for a doctor to suggest" says Trina
"I won't be the main doctor looking at it but it'll be under my name as your old doctor was replacing me so I'm the only doctor at the building that can access the file legally but I'll definitely be asking for help getting up to speed but you should know, that damage to your teeth, I know it wasn't an accident and if you don't admit the truth I'll make your boss let you come with me to the hospital so we can get a thorough understanding of the problem" says Jenna
"no, please I need this job, if they knew then I couldn't work here" begs Trina
"then I need you to say it, the first step to recovery is admitting the problem" says Jenna
"ok I may be a tad suicidal at times, especially under stress, seeing Tori and Cat happy only made it worse, I have nobody" says Trina
"why electrocution" asks Jenna
"the Ferris Wheel and the roller-coaster had problems, some kind of blown up parts and were sparking, as the junior technician it's my responsibility to put my body on the line in these situations, something about proving I can handle it, the Ferris Wheel was easy to fix, the roller-coaster was not so easy, it was endangering customers with its sparks, I was advised to make an easier path to ground but I'd already used my grounding rod on the Ferris Wheel and it has never been expected to need two so I used by body, it wasn't intended to be a suicide attempt as I wasn't wearing my shoes so it had a direct path to ground, however I wasn't expecting to live and I was ok with it, if I died then I died, all that mattered was that customers lives weren't put at risk and could leave, Bella said the only reason I lived was because the system doesn't like direct shorts to ground and shut off to protect itself after a minute" says Trina
"meet me at the hospital after work, I'm going to have 'psych symptoms' and I'd like to introduce you as my girlfriend, my onset symptoms will be nausea and hallucinations and pain in my legs, you'll need to tell the doctors that as I'll be effectively mute from the symptoms so they'll only have the current symptoms to go off of" says Isabella as she gets ready to go on the roller-coaster
"that's a bit dangerous isn't it, also it's a little soon to be calling me your girlfriend isn't it, we haven't even gone on a date yet" says Trina
"you broke my trust once, this is a test to see if I can even trust you in a relationship, I had cancer and you left me in the dust yet I still yearned to be your girlfriend, your future wife, leaving Tori to stay by my side, though I love you and will absolutely be your girlfriend, that trust needs to be redeemed first, anyway I have to get on the next or my symptoms will be way worse" says Jenna hoping to skip the long line
"fast pass costs more, you just have to pay up, it's thirty dollars extra but you'll get on the next ride" says Trina
"I don't have time to go back and pay for more, you don't understand how those works, the process has already started, can I just hand you the money instead" says Jenna
"it's against protocol but I suppose I could this once but you have to quit this government hospital testing nonsense after this one, it's putting your life at risk and you know it" says Trina as Jenna hands her thirty dollars and let's Jenna in front of the line as Tori walks over and takes the money from her and heads to the front gate to hand the money over
At the hospital an hour later
"well this is new Olivia, your schizophrenia is getting worse, you must have eaten something bad, it's going to require surgery" says Isabella pretending she doesn't know Olivia's real purpose as Tori runs in
"how is she" asks Tori
"she's lost her voice, this is very bad, do you know what symptoms came first" says Isabella
"no, but she did look quite sick coming off that roller-coaster at the pier, there may have been blood, I don't know, I was too busy calling the ambulance to notice exactly what occurred, she did faint though, her girlfriend will be here later, her boss wouldn't let her leave work early" says Tori
"girlfriend huh, she's never mentioned a girlfriend before" says Isabella
"they haven't been together very long, maybe a week" says Tori
"so you met this girlfriend then, she didn't mention anything, that's odd" says Isabella
"she didn't have time, Cat was on the phone with her very briefly, her boss was already yelling for her to get off the phone when she answered Cat's call" says Tori
"then I'll keep her stable until she gets here because I need an explanation before I can treat her symptoms" says Isabella glaring at Tori, letting her know she already knows what it is
"I'll make sure she gets here" says Tori
2 hours later as Trina arrives
"I'm looking for Olivia's room, I'm her girlfriend" says Trina
"Tori Vega to the nurses station for escort" says Nurse Jillian as Tori runs over
"ahh, right this way" says Tori as Trina walks over to her
"is something wrong, why an escort" whispers Trina
"heightened security, a psych patient being treated attacked a doctor so nobody enters or exits without an escort, not even doctors" says Tori
"is Olivia ok" asks Trina
"she's lost her voice, you need to tell the doctor the symptoms you saw" says Tori as they approach Olivia's room and Alexis is waiting
"she was nauseous and hallucinating but she has always had bouts but she's never lost her voice before" says Trina as Alexis let's them in
"has Olivia taken or eaten anything out of the ordinarily lately, anything that might cause her issues speaking, I heard you say nausea and hallucinations, only one fits her normal symptoms" says Isabella as Trina thinks up a story that would explain nausea, hallucinations and cause Olivia to lose her voice
"she said she's lactose intolerant, like really bad, it messes with her head a little, on our first date she was provided with almond milk but it wasn't almond milk, she threw up and was seeing stars, I had an epi pen and anti allergy meds on me so I made sure to use both hoping we could at least finish the date, even with those two she said she was seeing people where there weren't, she was a doctors assistant but had to leave the job because of the schizophrenia, she knew she was hallucinating but after an hour it all went away" says Trina as Jenna side eyes her as Isabella isn't looking in her direction
"did she have milk this morning" asks Isabella
"I left early for my work at the pier, I'm a mechanic, she showed up way later for the rides, I'm not certain if she mixed up my milk carton with hers but it is possible, they're the same brand and have similar labels and she's always groggy when she wakes up, she just grabs whatever is closer" says Trina
"well then I know what it is, she'll be out of here later today, you may sit by her side until visiting hours are over or she gets released, whichever happens first, Tori, I need a word with you" says Isabella as Tori follows her out of the room

"are you insane, there's no way they're dating, how did Trina come up with that story" says Isabella
"not dating yet, this is the big first step, everything Trina said is rooted in truth from childhood, right down to the first date part, their first playdate is when her parents found out she is lactose intolerant and it does cause mild hallucinations, the doctor back then said something about an allergic reaction causing it, that doctor fostered her love of medicine and even called her his little assistant while treating her cancer" says Tori
"wait she had cancer, when" says Isabella
"we were six, Trina was seven, I believe it was leukemia and my blood was used during treatment as I'm a universal donor, could her leukemia be coming back" says Tori
"leukemia no, it wouldn't cause the voice issue, she has laryngitis along with psych symptoms that are easily treated, especially if it's not schizophrenia" says Isabella
"she's not schizophrenic, she witnesses hallucinations due to severe lactose intolerance and allergic reactions, put her in a room full of regular, run of the mill frogs and she'll also hallucinate, something to do with the mucous on their skin" says Tori
"interesting, so she uses these allergies and intolerances to milk to cause these symptoms then" asks Isabella
"off the record yes, all as part of her job, which is why certain things you test her for are never returned, like say dna testing or testing her blood for certain things, your only job is to treat the patient, help them help themselves, it doesn't matter if you accidentally treat something you never got the results for, her only job is to see how doctors treat patients" says Tori
"will I ever learn her real name, she looks familiar" asks Isabella
"if all goes well she'll retire and live the rest of her life with Trina, Trina being here means she passed part of the test, the story she made up ticks another box off, Trina telling the truth about the symptoms without giving her true identity away is big even for Trina, it shows she's willing to do what's important to Olivia, only when she retires is she allowed to use her real name at hospitals, in fact you've done consults with the doctor that replaced her at her medical practice, her sister and Cat were really good friends in kindergarten" says Tori
"wait Jenna Jacobs" asks Isabella
"I'm legally not allowed to confirm anything, let's just say these particular symptoms, her sister was experiencing before she died, her sister died because of medical malpractice, the doctors assumed she was faking and never fully treated them, she died of malnutrition, Lively accepted the government's job offer the next day and the hospital that treated her sister failed every test, every single time, Lively had no say in how hospitals were graded, even though she never wanted revenge, just accountability for all hospitals so nobody has to die from curable diseases" says Tori
"ok I'll start treatment now, Alexis will be in shortly, go prepare Trina and Olivia, you're not to leave their side until they leave, the hospital is effectively on lockdown because of that aggressive patient, I warned that nurse that he's aggressive when you misgender him, she didn't heed my warning and called him a her and he attacked her, his home life growing up was terrible because the signs he was trans were quite clear and his family ignored and mistreated him, the only way they'd leave him alone is if he hurt them, he doesn't really know any other way to defend himself, he's here to learn new methods as his surgery is next month" says Isabella
"so he attacked that nurse out of self defense" says Tori
"yes but he's been doing really good, anyway that's all, go stand with them" says Isabella as Tori walks to Olivia's room
"good news guys, she figured out what it is" says Tori
"with you giving her information it's not hard to understand why" says Trina
"huh" says Jenna confused barely able to say much
"I was vague enough, Isabella is very smart, she didn't believe the whole girlfriend thing, as convincing as the story was she knew something was off, as much as she was willing to go along with the story handed to her, it's as much her job to treat actual symptoms as it is yours to test her, she needed the truth, she felt the story was prepared ahead of time, I had to inform her that the story was informed by symptoms present at childhood, I gave her a few examples, she's beginning to realize who you are but still doesn't know exactly who you are, she more or less knew what the issues were the moment you arrived but medically she needed an explanation because nothing added up except for the laryngitis" says Tori knowing the audio feed has been cut off
"did you tell her about the frogs" asks Trina, knowing it's a problem for Jenna
"I went about it in a way that doesn't jeopardize her job but yes I did, I reminded her that she still has a job to do, that it doesn't matter why the symptoms are there, just that she does her job as normal" says Tori as Jenna speaks in hoarse voice
"date tonight with Rina, won't be working for government anymore as of tonight" says Olivia
"why so sudden, you're not exactly known to quit or retire that easily" says Tori
"the doctor she hired to replace her while she was working for the government has cancer, its not looking good for him so Olivia is returning to her practice next week" says Trina
"and date you I hope" asks Tori
"if the date goes well that's the plan yeah though she won't be allowed to be my main doctor, only a consult but I'm okay with that, I've never been on a successful date before so I'm scared" says Trina
"Ironically she's the reason why, she knows how people see you, all most people see is the self entitled brat Trina, few people think to look past that, she was willing to interfere because almost all guys thought you'd be easy to manipulate into having sex, she wanted the best for you, anybody not willing to be fair she'd have her dad pay them off" says Tori
"awww, that's cute… wait my interview with the pier maintenance department, he said he'd gotten a reference but I had none to have given him, everywhere I've worked before has hated my guts, did she help there too" says Trina thinking Jenna's been active in her life this entire time
"all I said was treat you like a normal employee, no race stuff, he agreed but that conversation was AFTER you were hired" says Olivia coughing as Isabella returns with iv meds
"so you weren't the reference" asks Trina as Jenna shakes her head no
"please don't make her talk right now, given how she got this way the laryngitis meds are going to burn a bit, I'm requesting that she not talk for an hour" says Isabella setting up the medication bags and adding them to the iv line
"I thought laryngitis was a two day recovery thing, even with meds" asks Trina nuzzling Jenna
"this medication is targeted, the swelling is the result of a toxin, at least at the dose we found in her blood sample, you know you'll end up dead real quick if you keep intoxicating yourself like this Olivia" says Isabella as the medication drip starts
"will she be ok, we have a date planned for tonight, reservations and everything" asks Trina
"she'll be fine but don't expect her to eat as much as she normally would, I sure hope the reservations aren't for an expensive restaurant because they tend to have a bare minimum cost per customer, they really shouldn't but I've noticed quite a few fancy expensive restaurants guide customers to the more expensive items on the menus, I've had to cancel four of the last five dates with my girlfriends at fancy restaurants because of this new tactic to up profit, it's literally caused a fight or two" says Isabella
"I'm paying so its definitely not an expensive restaurant, will she need a wheelchair, Cat said she fell pretty hard" says Trina
"she'll need a wheelchair for a few days then crutches for a week, her left ankle is badly sprained, otherwise she'll be perfectly fine, after the week on crutches I'd like to see her again to get a checkup done" says Isabella
"and if she legally changes her name during that time is it ok for her to return" asks Trina again nuzzling Jenna
"I honestly don't care what name she uses, it could be a man's name for all I care, so long as we can verify her identity to match the tests I've done today and in the past, that's all that matters, I've had patients who are trans use one name one day and another name the next only for them to reveal them wanting to use the feminine name as I release them from my care, emergency might make a fuss about using a different name, you'll have to go through them anyway to get in to see us, if they give you a fuss about it don't feel like you can't name drop me, they'll shut right up, I've had patients who come through here like a revolving door as needed because the mental health facility won't take them in" says Isabella as Trina gets defensive
"is that where you think Lively needs to be, in a facility, because I can guarantee you that she's smarter than you and most people" accuses Trina
"that's not what I was implying at all Trina, in fact many of the patients I see are massively smart people who suffer from depression and are afraid of people finding out about it so they have me prescribe them medicine under an alias, I'm not dumb and I'm not saying that Olivia has any debilitating conditions, very rarely do I ever recommend one of my patients be committed to a mental health care facility and for Olivia I've consistently advocated for her freedom and independence, the line I have always drawn is when it actively affects others, so long as self inflicted injuries are minimal and my patients aren't actively attacking others unprovoked, I will always advocate for someone's maintained independence, anyway I'll be back in an hour to check up on Olivia" says Isabella as she leaves
"she's very inattentive, I thought her job was to stay by the patient she's charged in treating" says Trina feeling like something is off
"she's the top of her field, besides Olivia is stable so there's no emergency care needed, just treat her symptoms and release her if she's stable enough to do so, this wing is very underfunded, with how much things cost these days her and both her girlfriends HAVE to work, mid you they enjoy their jobs but with how talented Isabella is they shouldn't have to be forced to work as much as they do, the more patients Isabella can get stable enough for release the better she, her colleagues as well as her boss gets paid by the federal government, if it weren't for the state threatening to sue federal Congress representatives if they pass laws closing hospital psych wards, this ward and many like it would be shut down in favor of the mental health facilities, which in some cases provide bare minimum care, she's doing all she can to both stay afloat financially and do everything she can for her patients" says Tori as Jenna pushes Trina as a way to signal for her to leave well enough alone
1 hour and a half later as Isabella returns
"how is she, has she spoken at all, how's her throat" asks Isabella
"I'm doing a lot better thanks, my throats a bit dry though" says Olivia
"low water intake will do that Olivia" says Isabella
"my real name is Jenna, Jenna Lively Jacobs, as of today I no longer work for the federal government though I have been since before you first met me" says Jenna
"what was your job exactly" asks Isabella
"working to punish the bad doctors and show the government the good ones so where they work can get extra funding, unfortunately the politics of the federal government lately means the president can't sponsor any bills without full senate support, his majority in the house is slim, as of today he's asked the Governor of California to give tax incentives to silicon valley, this ward was selected by the Governor as the first to fund" says Jenna
"I never asked for any of this, you know that right, I love my job, I don't care about how much I get paid" says Isabella
"luckily you don't have to ask, the state has been interested in you for quite some time, they've wanted to give you a desk job in Sacramento, a very high paying job, we're talking about mansion level money" says Jenna
"please tell me you talked them out of it, this job may be stressful at times but I love seeing patients walk out of here smiling" says Isabella
"part of my job was to contract out to the states, the Governor wanted to know if you'd ever accept such a job, I've been telling them it was highly unlikely that you'd accept such a job because you love the personal contact you get with patients, the knowledge that you're actively changing lives every day, the second call I made out of this room was to the Governor, I told her that if she wanted to make sure that you keep getting to help patients and the state that they find a way to help the psych wards in LA and this hospital in particular, she agreed to look for options and by the sounds of it she found one, she said to expect your pay to triple at minimum" says Jenna
"as much as I'd love to worry less about how much things cost, the hospital won't stand for one wing of the hospital getting a ton more money from donors than others and I agree, the cancer ward is just as under funded" says Isabella
"the whole hospital will be getting money, wages will likely double and treatments will be partially covered by this particular donor but the psych ward of hospitals are the only ones receiving threats from the federal government to forcibly shut them down so this ward and all the nearby hospitals psych wards are getting higher donations, two checks in particular, one to fund doctors and nurses and one to lessen treatment costs, the Governor wants all people to get any treatment they need, even those without insurance or treatments their insurance doesn't cover, it's the first step to a better system, at least here in California" says Jenna
"so long as it's discussed with the hospital staff first, anyway as much as I'm glad you finally had a chance to come clean about who you are I still have to medically clear you before you can leave, so any hallucinations, how's your voice, it certainly sounds better though not back to normal yet" says Isabella
"I'm still seeing things but it's way less now, when it gets like this it's gone in twenty minutes, my throat is still a tad scratchy but then again I did basically cuddle that frog, I'm an amphibian and reptile lover, much like how you enjoy dogs and cats, I wasn't expecting it to get this bad to begin with, I really need to brush up on my allergy sensitivity issues when I get back to my office next week" says Jenna
"I'd take light duty if I were you, maybe video calling patients instead of in person appointments while you recover, your leg won't take the driving well, in fact I feel you should cancel those reservations and do a home date, it'll put less pressure on Trina and we both know where you want to go with her and how quickly" says Tori
"as a doctor Jenna you know how important first impressions are, Trina's going to have a hard time getting used to being in a lesbian relationship, especially if word gets out before she's ready to tell her colleagues" says Isabella
"you act like you've known I am a doctor for some time, I know what I'm doing" says Jenna
"I've always known Jenna, you did not hide it all that well, I always assumed that you had to leave your practice because of the symptoms getting worse, I'd have never suspected you were an active doctor" says Isabella
"allergies and reactions can be a pain but they don't run my life, you'd be surprised about how much wild and domesticated animals love me, I've had crocodiles and alligators walk over to me and lay at my feet so I could pet them, even some at the zoo known to be very very aggressive, I've pet bears nobody has been able to get anywhere near, allergies be damned if a cute frog comes and stays at my feet for more than a few seconds and doesn't jump out of my hands right away I'm going to hold it, it's just who I am" says Jenna
"I know for a fact that Trina being here isn't a coincidence, especially with you being a doctor, you know about her mental health issues and wanted her checked out, she only came here because she definitely has feelings for you, her and I have spoken about it at length, most notably after the whole save the customers electrocution attempt at her work last year, I only convinced her to stay around and not totally risk her life again by admitting that you, though as Olivia and I was bound to legally keep your identity a secret, I told her you felt the same, just knowing there was a woman her age that would date her was enough, now the whole travel thing is firm, you're at risk of breaking that ankle if you so much as step on an uneven surface with your entire weight, my suggestion is you take her home and she make you guys something" says Isabella
"Izzy trust me Jenna is very much set in her ways, if she won't avoid frogs because they can affect her negatively then how can you expect her to take your advice seriously" says Tori as Jenna stares blankly at her, only now remembering just how defiant she was around Tori growing up
"Jenna trust me, if it was a simple sprain I wouldn't be sending you out of here in a wheelchair, technically your ankle is about to fracture, how you can walk on it at ALL amazes me, if you disobey my request and you break your ankle, you'll be in so much pain you'll be here for a month while we pin your ankle together and you recover, meaning no patients for you to see at your practice, no leaving that hospital bed without a nurse, not even to use the bathroom and you probably won't be allowed visitors because of the pain, meaning no visits from Trina" says Isabella
"I'm trying to avoid letting her see my home, she's never seen my family home, I always visited her, my home is massive, her dad and I don't exactly get along, my dad would beat up cops that were beating up kids for no reason, Mr. Vega didn't care that my dad was doing it for the right reasons, all he saw was a cop beater, whenever I'd arrive to have playdates with Trina or sleepovers with either Trina or Tori he'd always yell to them 'girls the criminal daughter is here', he absolutely hates my guts, I'd rather not have Trina see my home on the first date, and Trina is living with her dad right now because of financial issues she's going through, I'd rather not have him find out about Trina and I" says Jenna
"the place I made renovations at is wheelchair accessible, I already told the restaurant that I'll need an accessible table, they even have a handicapped stall she can use, she won't be doing any standing but for a few seconds at a time at most" says Trina
"Trina, that's all it might take, if I thought she'd take it I'd send her away with a walking cast as well that she'll have to wear for months, my boss was very clear about the release conditions Trina, either follow them or risk Jenna needing to be hospitalized for a month or more" says Isabella
"is it really that serious" asks Jenna
"believe me, a wrong move on that foot could lead to it needing to be amputated to stop bleeding, when I popped it out of its locked position it cracked, in popping your ankle it released a pinched nerve and moved a vein out of position and out of danger ONLY if you follow my advice, there's a piece cracked ready to pop off and cut that vein if the muscle tightens, as much as you hate it for now as you're not ready, Trina will be by your side at all times, it's for safety reasons, she'll be with you at your house or hers, if her dad has a problem with you then he can come bark at me, Trina send him to me the moment he has an issue with her, I will not have her anxiety spike making her stand on it, Bella will gladly take extra shifts if you need days off to accommodate Jenna's recovery" says Isabella showing just how much she cares about her patients
"how much does it cost for the walking cast, wheelchair and crutches" asks Jenna accepting fate
"your insurance covers it for temporary use, if you want them full time then that's two grand extra, something we don't do very often, we don't just sell equipment to people but we will if they can afford it and feel it's necessary" says Isabella
"it's necessary" says Jenna getting her check book out of her purse and writing a two grand check to the hospital
"do you know something I don't" asks Isabella
"my uncle had bone density issues, it was assumed that I wouldn't suffer till later in life, I have Elhers-Danlos and bone issues, which obviously got worse since I couldn't take my bone health meds and supplements because you guys would find it in my blood, California is the only state I tested hospitals in that my self inflicted symptoms even needed blood tests" says Jenna
"I can guarantee you that they took blood, it's standard procedure" says Isabella
"not if everything that they'd test for is already in the medical history file or say you have a bleeding disorder on file, the government did everything to prevent doctors identifying me through blood tests, fainting disorder, already on file, genetic disorders, already on file, the thing is, all the hospitals I was asked to test had severe medical malpractice histories, the hospitals claimed to have done work to fix it even firing doctors but the government wanted me to test them" says Jenna
"wait is Olivia Halsey Jacobs your sister, because that was a major blow-up when she died" asks Isabella as Jenna chuckles
"took you long enough to notice the symptoms connection, you replaced the doctor who neglected my sister till moments before she died, the government knew you were talented, however they wanted to see if the hospital would fall back on old habits and let you be lazy" says Jenna
"wait so the symptoms today, the sprained ankle, the hallucinations, the laryngitis, were they what your sister was experiencing" asks Isabella
"yes, even the sprained ankle, though her ankle had actually broken in three places, I wasn't about to break my own ankle to replicate her symptoms, at least not on purpose, she was on the rollercoaster, she'd gotten off and had begun hallucinating because of the speed of the rollercoaster affecting her ears and eyes, she walked off the pier and onto the beach five feet down, she'd thought there were steps, her wounds had become infected, the doctor did nothing, only giving her antibiotics for the infection shortly before she died, the only things that doctor had done right were giving her blood and getting her ankle pinned back together, he refused letting any of his colleagues help her because he said he wanted her to suffer for being a sinner and only suffering could redeem her, we learned all this after my parents sued the hospital, it wasn't a fun experience for me because Olivia and I had plans for a beach day after she got out of the hospital, our parents had paid for a hotel and everything, Olivia and I were very close, we told each other everything, she loved Jade and I love Trina, it's been over ten years and I still miss her" says Jenna
"grief is never fun Jenna, I'm actually a triplet, there's Cat's brother Sam and our sister Cassandra, she was injured in a car vs bike crash in Canada, her being on the bike, luckily she's ok but man do I miss her, she's the source of Cat's humor, she taught Cat everything she knows about jokes" says Isabella
"Cat's humor can actually be quite dry at times" says Tori
"I never said she taught her well, Cassandra is the reason Cat loves animals, horses especially" says Isabella
"what does Cassandra do exactly" asks Tori suddenly interested in knowing about this mystery sibling of Cat's
"she's a comedian in Canada, the dark joke kind, honestly she does pretty well" says Isabella
