"People are calling her the cattle-farming goddess."

The four soldiers were leaning on a fence at the edge of the golden lit farm. They were watching Historia scold a couple of orphan children, who had been snacking on the food they were supposed to be carrying into the barn.

Jason squinted at the girl, "You know, if she held a scythe in her hand, she would totally fit that picture."

Jean and Armin looked at him. Eren kept his gaze on Historia. Jean raised his palm, "Jason, are you sure you weren't part of a cult?"

"That would explain a lot." Armin lamented.

Jason, crossing his arms, sighed, "I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that."

They all sat quietly for a bit. Jason gleaned the others in the distance. Sasha, carrying a box, was getting her hair pulled by one of the kids. Connie had a kid's finger in his mouth, struggling to carry his bags of wheat. Jason chuckled, it's like their twins.

Mikasa was carrying three bags of feed on her shoulder. It looked like she was about to help Sasha, but she continued onto the barn instead. Despite her neutral face, Jason felt something was upsetting her. He didn't know why he had the feeling. Maybe I can read Ackermens better now?

"So, we finally got a goddess among us." Jean began. His face slowly turned ugly when he said this next part, "At this rate no one will remember the chump who plugged up Trost, right?" He glared mischievously at Eren.

Eren, ignoring his comment, said, "One of the reasons Historia decided to become queen was to do all this."

Jean's ugly face melted away. Jason noticed that Eren was ignoring more and more of his taunts lately.

Armin turned to Eren, "This meaning?"

"Taking care of the orphans and the needy from the underground to the edge of the walls. Since he was raised underground, the Captain supported her incentive too." Eren kept his gaze on the Queen, "When people need help, she said she'll come to their rescue, no matter who or where they are." Jason couldn't help leaning in, "That's… what Historia wants to do."

Historia, finishing scolding the children, turned around. Noticing the four boys, she marched towards them.

"Oh? You guys are slacking again?" She stood with her hands on her hips, "It's getting dark you know!"

"Sorry Historia we were…" Jason began.

"I don't want any excuses. Especially not from you." She pointed to the demigod, "It's already bad enough you threw up on me in Orvold, and then you have the nerve to laugh at me in the castle." Her fist shook, "You know how much courage it took to punch the Captain?"

"I already said I was…" Jason tried to speak, but her words came out like fire, "I said no excuses! Clean up the storage house!"

With a slumped back, Jason walked to the dinghy storage house to the group's right. He heard her scold the others, "Well, you heard what I said. Get a move on!"

Entering the old storage space, Jason coughed from the dust. They were moving everything to the newer built barns closer to the center of the farm. This building would soon be demolished to give more space to the cows. But Historia didn't want to throw any of the equipment away. The entire gang had been avoiding the dirty storage all day, focusing on carrying the supplies from the city to the larger barns.

It looks like the job was dumped on me. He thought grimly.

He saw a rusted wheelbarrow in the corner and began filling it with the larger equipment. He grabbed a thin wooden wheel and placed it in the wheel barrel. He exhaled.

Was staying really the right choice? It had already been two months since Historia's coronation, and no plan to retake Wall Maria has been put into effect. Every time Jason asked Levi or Hange about the mission, they would brush him off.

But it's not like the scouts haven't been keeping him busy. When Eren was resting from his experiments with Hange, the Section Commander would take him and do research on the crystals found in the cave. Specifically how the gem would react to Jason's ability. And when he wasn't busy doing that, he was training with his ODM gear on the daily with Levi as his trainer. Less of a trainer and more of a sparring partner. The demigod thought to himself.

Jason was glad when Historia had asked that the Levi Squad help with the farm she was working on at the edge of Wall Sina. It was the first break he had had since her coronation.

He grabbed a saw looking object and threw it into the wheelbarrow. Realizing he couldn't place anything more on his jenga looking pile, he grabbed the handles and slowly exited the storage house.

The deepening sunset lit up the field. Jason pushed the wheel barrel forward. He heard kids playing in the distance. Popping his head behind the pile of junk he was carrying he saw three figures ahead. He winced.

Mikasa was staring deadpanned in front of Eren and Historia. So that's what it was. He thought to himself. She proceeded to grab the heavy sacks of flour Eren was holding and walked away. Jason couldn't really hear the conversation. Eren stood while the girls walked ahead.

Jason, still holding the handles of the wheel barrel, caught up to the titan shifter. "Waiting for someone?" He asked.

Eren scoffed, "I wish she would stop treating me like a feeble old man."

Jason chuckled, "Wow, you're more dense than me. And that's saying something." He kept walking. Eren kept in stride with him, "What are you talking about?"

Jason shrugged. "Nothing."

The two walked in silence for a bit. Jason hasn't spoken to Eren in a month. Both had been so busy with their respective training, Jason hadn't even spoken to him till now.

Jason decided to cut to the chase, "Why did you save me?"

Eren kept looking forward, "What do you mean?"

Jason tried to articulate his thoughts. "You've saved me twice now, even though I helped Berthold. I just… don't get it."

"What? You wanted me to leave you for dead?"

"You know that's not what I'm saying."

Eren kept staring ahead, "You said something about Berthold before… what happened happened. I didn't understand it. I wanted to ask you about it."

Jason tried to remember what he said, but couldn't.

"But I think I figured it out now. Why you helped him. Your kind of like Historia in that way. You like to help people."

Jason didn't know how to respond. "Are you not someone who likes to help people?"

Eren shook his head, "I don't think so. My motivation…" He looked down, "is different."

Jason heard more children playing in the distance. At the corner of his eye, he saw Sasha and Connie chasing a little girl who somehow had a knife in her hand.

"I don't think it matters Eren." Jason spoke, breaking the silence, "My motivations are not as pure as you think they are. And I think you want to help as much as Historia does." He looked at him, "I say that as someone who's life you've saved countless times." He nudged him, "Don't be too hard on yourself."

Eren gave him a sidelong glance, as if deciding whether or not Jason's assertion was true. Connie and Sasha were dragged to the floor by the other kids. Jean was now chasing the child with the knife.

"That guy… the one with the green eyes." Eren began, "Who was he?"

Jason stopped, staring at the titan shifter.

"You… you remember Percy? But…" Jason dropped the wheelbarrow. Some of the items fell off the pile. "Why didn't you tell me you remembered that?!"

Eren became defensive, "I don't know! I just thought it was a weird dream. You didn't mention it either!"

"I didn't mention it because I thought you didn't remember it…" Jason held the bridge of his nose. Eren, wanting to avoid the demigods anger, kneeled to pick up the pieces that fell off the wheel barrel. Jason decided to pick up the rest. After putting the items back, they resumed their walk back to the larger barn house.

Eren cautiously resumed the conversation, "So… his name is Percy? The one with the green eyes?"

Jason let out a large sign, then, "Yeah. He's my cousin. I don't know how, but he seemed to be himself… in whatever that was."

"And the girl? With the braids?"

"That was Piper. My..." His what? It was something he had been avoiding for a long time, ever since the break up happened. But he didn't want to avoid it anymore. This world didn't have time for that.

"My ex-girlfriend." Finishing the sentence, he paused.

He felt... nothing. No pain. No shame. Nothing. He didn't feel bad at all. He thought he would. That's why he had been avoiding it for so long. But saying it out loud now, he felt absolutely nothing at all.

Piper was his ex-girlfriend, and he didn't mind that fact in the slightest.

Eren's mouth made an O shape, "No wonder she wanted to kill you."

Jason nudged the boy harder this time, "Shut up."

"No, seriously, when she ordered me to kill you, it was like… I wanted to really do it. For her. For someone I barely knew. It was like… She took all of my freedom away." His voice was low when he said that last part.

Jason tried to explain, "What she did to you was called charm speak. Some daughters of Aphrodite can convince anyone to do anything for them." The kids were now piling on Jean.

"Honestly though, I don't think I've seen any mortal break Piper's charm speak so fast before. (Well I guess you're not really a mortal). If you weren't there to hold back the others…"

Eren gripped his fist. He didn't respond to the comment. Mikasa was now in pursuit of the child with the knife.

"Thank you Eren." That seemed to get the boy out of his thoughts.

"For what?" he asked.

"If you weren't there to hold off the others, my friends and family probably wouldn't be alive today. You protected them… by attacking them." Jason narrowed his eyebrows, "That's contradictory."

Eren stayed silent. Jason focused on the commotion in the distance. Mikasa finally caught the child with the knife. Connie, Sasha, and Jean were laying in the grass, children piled on top of them.

Eren put his hands in his pockets, "Your cousin. He wouldn't believe that you were alive, no matter how many times I told him." Jason recalled Percy's anger towards them. He had never seen him that upset before.

"I miss him too." The words came out on their own.

Historia flicked the forehead of the girl who had been holding the knife. Armin was pulling kids off of Jean. A cow mooed behind them.

Eren asked, "Can you tell me more about him? About your cousin?"

Jason shifted his attention to his strange new friend. He didn't know whether he was trying to make him feel better or whether he was actually curious.

Jason couldn't help beaming. "Where do I even start that story?"
