Rio: Final Revolution
Carla stared at her iPod, letting the day go by completely. Bia sat, learning from her book. Tiago practiced his football goal shots with blueberries he had snuck from the fridge. "When did mom say she'd get back with dad?" Carla shouted at Bia, not realizing she was adjacent to her. "Hey! Not so loud Carla!" said an obviously upset Bia. Tiago zipped over and nudged himself right between them yelling "Not till tomorrow morning! We're free!" "I can go play football with my friends!" "I could go listen to some music auditions with Nico and Pedro!" "I could head over to the university and sneak into a lecture again!"
Clearly, the three had different plans for what they might do while Blu and Jewel were away. Each started at each other silently thinking. Their combined thoughts all echoed as if the whole world could hear. "The university? That's boring!" "Soccer practice is for boys." "Pedro and Nico are doing nothing valuable with their time. Not one of those birds can sing!" Blu had made it explicitly clear that as long as the three stuck together, then they could be outside in the city. They were always to be home by 7:00, no later.
"Nuff said, we should split up! Who's gonna notice anyway?" Tiago suggested. "Hmm. He's right, this is the one time we can all be somewhere past 7 and we'd all like to be at different somewheres…" Carla thought to herself. A smile must've crept across her face because her siblings read her immediately! "Okay see ya' guys before mom gets home!" Tiago hollered as he zipped out the window and vanished into the night sky. "I'll fly with you to the Luiz's on my way to the university!" Bia said as she took off excitedly. Carla followed, and just like that, the bird nest porch was empty.
The two flew down towards the city lights. With the sanctuary being adjacent to the jungle, the neighborhood was particularly ritzy. Up in the mountains, wealthier families separated themselves from the common people below. Luiz's shop was located a way down the mountain into the city. It was a busier street with a trolley that ran on it, so it was easy to spot from a way away. "Here's your spot, Carla! Don't stay up too late, and definitely don't let any of those boys take you out to do anything fun!" Bia said as Carla descended away from her. "Bye Bia!"
Carla flew in and found the shop completely empty. "What? Where is everyone?" She flew from corner to corner and then out front onto the sidewalk to have a look around outside. Suddenly, a loud rustling came from back inside the shop. She turned her head to see something large. It turned to face her as well. She feared for her life as not only did her eyes meet one gaze, but two! The four-legged creature approached revealing two large macaw heads on its shoulders. With talons on its paws, it began running as if it were a dog and Bia immediately flew upward. One of the macaw heads just barely missed her, but to her surprise, a third macaw head attached at the end of its meter long tail stretched out and snatched her out of the air!
Tackled to the ground and crushed under the enormous weight of the creature, Carla tried to scream for help but was interrupted by two talons pinching her beak tight. "Hello there, little miss Carla. I've been waiting to see you!" the orange colored head on the left said. "Ooooooh this is great!" the other head said, which had white and purple feathers. The tail head leaned in close and whispered to the three "Bloody knackered, ain' she? Perhaps we should tell her what we're working on, ey mate?" Carla shivered with fear as she was dragged away, still silenced by the powerful talons.
