This my first story. I hope for some constructive criticism.
1585, Great Britain,
"Queen Elizabeth!" Sir Francis Drake* fell to his one knee. "Francis Drake. You have been summoned by me for the dirty work again." she mumbled, "You have shown your worthiness in the 1570's and have been knighted."
"Considering my past, I was not very shocked. You know, since I had a part in the slave trade of Af-" he got interrupted. "Let us forget the past. " the queen waved her hand, "Our kingdom is growing day by day. Some company even asked me to grant them the charter to sail South Asia. We all know how that will turn out in 150 years." she smiled.
Drake chuckled, "You sure South Asians will be easy?" She replied, "Who said that it won't take more than 100 years? Anyways, that's not the point. You shall be sailing to the coast of Florida. Spain is giving us some trouble there." Drake's eyes lit up, "You love to send me there whenever Spain gives some trouble, don't you? You shall not be disappointed!" Queen Elizabeth excused him.
He reached the ports where he found out he was given command of 25 fleets. "Ok soldiers, gear up!" he yelled. "Sir!" A solder saluted him, "Won't you be going in your knight-armour instead of cloths like a pirate?"
"So now, you will be asking your seniors these questions? I will wear whatever I am comfortable in, soldier." he told him. "Sorry sir, with all due respect. It seems you haven't been able to let go your past." the soldier replied. Drake retorted, "No man ever does."
Florida,
Soon Drake was sailing to the west to once again victor over the Spanish. He plundered Spanish ports thee, taking Santiago in Cape Verde Islands, Cartagena in Colombia, St. Augustine in Florida and San Domingo. He was about to return to Britain in 1586 when asked if anyone wished to remain in St. Augustine to look over and possibly rule over it under the queen. Lot of hands raised up but the soldier who had asked him a question a year ago and managed to stood out to him was ultimately chosen by him. "What's your name, soldier" Drake asked. "Phanes!" The soldier who looked about the age of mid-forties spoke up.
Phanes expanded his kingdom over all of the West coast of Gulf of Mexico** with the help of the English by fighting wars against Spain and France. Phanes soon had a son who was named Ouranos Primordial. After 40 years of rule under the British, Ouranos took his place. By that time Ouranos had couple children, eldest of who was Kronos Titan. Ouranos in his rule, managed to expand the English territories till Honduras. He usually used weapons that attacked the opponent from the sky which got him famous as the one who ruled the skies, Uranus.
Kronos helped his father until he reached the age of 30. He was becoming power-hungry. With the help of his mother, Gaia, he slayed his own father with his scythe and became the ruler. "You shall be betrayed by your own too!" were Ouranos's last words. Kronos turned out to be a very good conqueror. He took hold of Nicaragua, then Costa Rica, then expanded east and took Guiana from the French. Every year, he would be attacked by the French and Spanish. "The Gulf is ours. It's our destiny!" The Spanish would yell.
Nevertheless, his victory would be fast and swift causing him to be called Master of Time.
Late 1650s to Early 1670s
One day, Rhea, his wife came to him and told him that Hades was going to be born. That day in his dreams, he saw, sitting on a wooden tripod stool, a mummy***. Not the wrapped-in-cloth kind, but a human female body shriveled to a husk. She wore a tie-dyed sundress, lots of beaded necklaces, and a headband over long black hair.
The skin of her face was thin and leathery over her skull, and her eyes were glassy white slits, as if the real eyes had been replaced by marbles; she'd been dead a long, long time. And that was before she sat up on her stool and opened her mouth. A green mist poured from the mummy's mouth, coiling over the floor in thick tendrils, hissing like twenty thousand snakes, "What goes around, comes around; The cycle of betrayal and the wound. To you, the youngest one shall show; That you shall reap what you sow."
Kronos woke up in sweat. His children were going to betray him just like him, he knew it and he had to do something. After 9 months, Hades Olympus was born. Kronos raised him until he was of 10 years. During that time Rhea had two more sons, Poseidon Olympus who was now 8 years old and Zeus Olympus who was now 5 years old.
Kronos was getting paranoid day by day. He was in constant fear that one of them, especially Zeus would kill him. So, he jailed them that caused hate to start growing in them. This would ultimately result in his death. After staying jailed for 5 years, they had lost hope that someone would free them.
But then the day came, Rhea broke into the Dungeon and freed them. The 4 of them ran out of the Dungeons. They escaped the guards and exited the palace. All of them were about to escape when the guards came ahead of them. There was no way to escape. So, Poseidon and Hades volunteered to stay behind.
Poseidon and Hades although in their early teens, were able to put-up with 50 soldiers. Hades checked his pockets where he rarely kept anything. He hadn't touched his pockets for half a decade but found something. He had a catapult and many explosive pieces that could easily destroy delicate substances. You would think that Hades should have felt that weight.
Some of the soldiers escaped before Poseidon and Hades could block the street. They fired at the legs of the stalls in the market causing the stalls to fall over each other in the middle of street creating a huge pile of wood, vegetables and stationery. The soldiers had to retreat and go another way. "We have to catch-up to Mother and Zeus." said Poseidon. "No! If the guards follow us, we would be leading them straight to them. We need a place to hide." replied Hades.
Poseidon noticed a empty warehouse form the corner of his eye. He led Hades into it and asked, "So, we stay here until the guards find us?" Hades nodded dead serious. On the other hand, Mother Rhea and Zeus had escaped the city. They went from grasslands crossing the scrublands to the forest and then reached the farmers' lands. They took shelter in one of the farmhouses and ate some food for one day. Then crossed the sea to reach the nearest island, all in 13 days.
She gave Zeus a last warm smile, gifted him to the people living there and hurriedly returned. She reached the city in another 14 days. Her eyes were drowsy, her dress torn, and she was in no condition to return to palace. She started searching for Poseidon and Hades hoping for any sign of them.
After the failure of finding them, she returned to the palace. She went in the night and reached the palace. She tip-toed in the hallways and sneakily reached her room. She opened the door and went in when suddenly a figure stood up. "Where were you?" the figure growled.
She knew who it was from the voice but still asked, "Who is it?" Kronos stepped out of the shadows, "You! You have been gone for almost a month!" "Forgive me my lord!" she fell to her knees and cried, "Some bandits kidnapped me when I was strolling, and I barely escaped!" "You expect me to believe that?" Kronos raised his eyebrow. She acted on, "Believe me, my lord! What I am saying is true."
Kronos let out a menacing laugh, "I know from my guards, that you went into the dungeons but never returned. The ones that returned were a woman with her face hid and the three princes on the day you disappeared." Rhea expected Kronos to hit her but he turned away and opened the door. Before going out, he said, "Poseidon and Hades were captured. You should probably prepare for your execution tomorrow. They are going to see it."
Rhea checked any ways to run. Her door was locked, window guarded and the secret tunnels from her room, in case the kingdom was attacked, locked. She gave up all hope and lay down there slept out of tiredness. The next day was going to change everything.
10 in the morning, the two princes were dragged into the light of the day. The queen was going to be hanged today. Everyone was confused and booing before Kronos yelled, "Queen Rhea shall be hanged today for her betrayal and crimes against the British America****." The sick minds (all the people) started encouraging him to see another death. The brothers' blood boiled. They started thrashing at the chains attempting to break out and stop what was going to happen before it was too late. Kronos grinned and let go of the rope. SNAP!
For a moment what felt like decades for the brothers, there was a silence. Then everyone started cheering. The world was cruel and they lived in it. Poseidon lost it and laughed humorlessly before he moved his hand as wide as he could and punched the nearest guard in the nose. He got a nose bleed which another guard noticed. He pulled out his sword and went to attack Poseidon. Hades waited for the man to come near before deflecting his sword and killing the guard with his own sword without any remorse thus, defending his brother. The guard let out a scream before falling to ground.
The cheering stopped and everyone turned to the situation to see what happened. "Take them inside and throw them into the dungeons now!" yelled Kronos. They were dragged back inside. That day served as inspiration for the future to fight against oppression.
Later in the night, they heard Kronos talking to a man. "We should kill those two too." they heard Kronos say to the man. The man replied with a British accent, "We cannot do that!" "You gave me the idea to execute Rhea and everyone cheered. It worked." Kronos persisted. "Yes because she was an adult and people crave for deaths. But these are children. Their killing could literally start a rebellion because nobody wants to kill a child." The man stood on his point. Kronos tried again, "It is necessary to kill these two." "Why? Is there a personal inconvenience in the family that I sense?" the man calmly asked. "No...you do not. I agree" replied Kronos.
Kronos came to their chamber in dungeons, "Well, well, well, if it isn't two of violent children. Where is the third one?" They looked at each other and said, "We don't know." "Tell me!" He asked again. "We said that we do not know. That is the truth!" they said. "Why should I believe you? Your mother was a liar too. You take after her." He emphasized the word 'was'. Hades glared at him for that. "Oh believe me, we do not get it from her." Poseidon muttered. Kronos left them after one last glare. "How long would we stay here? It has already been 5 years." Poseidon asked, "To think that during these 5 years, we have seen the sun only 10 times." Hades didn't answer.
1680, Gulf of Mexico,
"Aunt Calypso, I want to avenge my mom and brothers." Zeus said to Calypso. Calypso smiled towards Zeus, "Your time will come. Actually, I am afraid it may have already come. You must prepare for it." Zeus was almost 18. He knew what had happened and his kingdom's history. Kronos's soldiers had found their original island. Calypso who had been entrusted upon Zeus by Rhea had lost many people in her family. They always relocated to a different place but Kronos always seemed to find her. But this was the last promise given to Rhea and the 60 year-old Calypso was still keen on keeping it.
Suddenly, bullets were fired at them. Zeus reacted fast and dived towards Calypso and they scrambled in the area behind the cupboard. Of course, that still wasn't safe. They moved away from the house. The guards had covered the beach-house from all sides. Zeus looked in the eyes of each and glared. Nobody dared shoot him. The old lady Calypso fell to ground. Zeus noticed her and asked worriedly, "Are you okay?" "Go-on without me. I am just tired." she replied. "But I can't go without you!" exclaimed Zeus. "You have to." she turned. Zeus noticed the bullet wound in her upper abdomen. Everyone was still. None of the guards dared move. "I have done what I promised. I have raised you enough to lead the rebellion. I have completed my promise before my final breadth." she croaked, "Go! Kill them all!"
Zeus let out a final scream before charging. He attacked two men stole their pistols and shot them. He then swung his sword towards the person who was aiming his gun at him. He then kicked one and punched another. He ran towards his sword before turning behind and slashing at another. He then was shot in the back twice. He let go of his sword before falling to his knees. He was always the dramatic one.
Kronos's palace,
Zeus opened his eyes and heard faint noises. "We captured him but he killed 4 of our men." A man said to the man who sat on top of a throne. He faintly recognized the face as Kronos. His blood boiled and he thrashed at the chains. "Well, well, he has woken up." The man raised Zeus's chin with Zeus's own sword.**** "That is my sword, leave it!" exclaimed Zeus. The man answered, "Oh, I am considering keeping it. After all, it managed to kill couple of my men."
Kronos came stood from his throne and indicated for the man to move. He walked towards Zeus and asked, "Where did you learn battling?" Zeus looked at him for a moment before he spat, "Let go of my brothers, Kronos! If they are still alive." Kronos narrowed his eyes, "It's father to you. Actually, it's king to you." "I would never consider the English and people like you the rulers of this land." Zeus yelled. "Take him to my room. Make sure you keep a eye on him all the time." told Kronos. The man told one of the guards to escort him.
Zeus saw a part of the palace. He saw how much of a clean and decorated place they lived in. That increased his despise for Kronos. Zeus was locked in the room with a guard. He was waiting for a distraction. Zeus heard footsteps getting close. He started gagging at the right time. "Hey! What are you doing?" the guard asked before the door opened grasping the guards attention. Zeus gagged out a small sharp cutter covered in a protective shell onto his tongue. He held the shell between his teeth before spiting the cutter out from between the layers onto the back of the guard's neck. He fell down to the floor in pain. Zeus dragged him closer with his legs. He was able to get keys to open his chains. He stood and saw the man standing in the doorway. The man looked dead scared before running out. Zeus followed him. The guard was far from his reach.
Zeus broke the frame of a picture of Kronos and threw a shard of glass towards the guard. He went for the head. Zeus changed into the guard's uniform and walked out. As he was passing, he heard sounds of eating from a room. He peeked into the room to see a huge dinner hall where Kronos was eating. He went into kitchen. "Hey! What are you doing? You are not allowed here." said a chef. Zeus answered calmly, "Oh! I am just...checking the security of the King."
After that nobody noticed him. He took the drinks. He searched for poison and found it. He wondered why such a thing was kept in the kitchen anyway. He spiked the drinks and gave it to the waiter. Then, he slipped out into the hallway and continued towards the same direction. He noticed the same man who had stole his sword from the corner of his eye. He attacked him from behind and blocked his oxygen. He took his sword back and a map. He ran in the direction of the dungeons. Nobody there remembered his face and he was able to enter the dungeons because of his uniform.
He searched for his brothers and found a 21 year-old Poseidon and 23 year-old Hades who had spent more than half of their lives in the dungeons. They were happy to meet him and finally escape. But they weren't fast enough after spending so much time in the dungeons. Zeus killed the guards and they ran away. They heard some commotion from the dining hall. They saw some doctors treating Kronos who had threw-up a lot. Zeus pushed everyone, unsheathed his sword and delt a final blow.
Everyone started to attack Zeus but an Englishman stopped them, "By the rules of the British America, Zeus is the rightful king and representative of it." Zeus's eyes widened. He didn't think it would be that easy. Of course, it was all the work of Plot - Armour.
The Fifth Age,
Zeus had declined working under the British. Their kingdom was now free. Nobody objected. Everyone was happy to be free from the British. Poseidon and Hades learnt sword-fighting in the next two years. They were fast learners. After failed negotiations a battle was the only answer left between them. "You know what that means, right? A fight with the British. The Great Britain versus this small kingdom." said Lord Typhon. "Oh bring it on!" Poseidon grinned. Hades, Zeus's adversary thought for a moment and agreed to the deal.
Typhoeus War,
Poseidon, Zeus's lieutenant led the army of Olympus into the battle against the British Colonies.
"Olympians, Charge!" Poseidon cried. Hades rode his chariot and fought the soldiers with his sword. He slashed at one's horse causing it stumble and then disarmed the men and stabbed them with their own. Poseidon rode on his horse and battled the British Soldiers. He slashed at ones leg and stabbed another. Then a soldier came from behind stabbing his horse. Poseidon came down enraged and and battled everyone on foot. Zeus could be seen on top of the palace leading the archers into the battle hitting explosives they had hid in the ground.
Both the kingdoms fought valiantly but the number of British was too much more. The first day of war against Lord Typhon had completed. The Olympians returned to their palace while the British stayed in camps. When Hades entered the city palace, he could hear murmuring of soldiers about how they should have sided with the English. He heard one say to another, "Yes! The British know our plans. We both were successful. Half of the British should be entering the palace from the secret tunnels by today midnight."
Hades told Poseidon to shut everyone up. "Everyone! Stand Guard!" yelled Poseidon. "I have heard that many of you are not in fact confident for fighting on this side. Anyone who does not wish to fight with Olympus, may join the British." Hades said calmly but his eyes were ferocious enough. Nobody dared budge. Hades said to Poseidon, "Could you call those two soldiers here?" Poseidon nodded and indicated them to come with Hades.
They led the traitors into the court of the Majesty. "These two have leaked the entrances of our secret tunnels and we are going to be attacked from the inside at midnight." Hades told Zeus. Zeus stood-up and asked, "Is that true, soldiers?" They said nothing. Zeus stomped angrily, "They shall be hanged after the war with the British." "We can't do that. You are not Kronos, are you?" asked Poseidon. "So, what do you say, what do we do?" asked Zeus. "We are far worse than Kronos." grinned Poseidon, "If they truly want to side with the British, I have a different idea."
Before midnight, the traitors were tied up to two poles in the secret tunnel. The entrances were closed and waste-water was pumped into it. When the British soldiers came, they saw the two tied up. "Leave now!" they yelled, Suddenly a huge wave of sewage came towards them. Only a few were able to escape. Half of the British were killed or abandoned in the secret tunnels. The next day they were forced to sign a peace treaty because of their personal disadvantages. Thus, Olympus was established in North and Central America.
Sir Francis Drake* (c. 1540 – 28 January 1596) was an English explorer and privateer best known for his circumnavigation of the world in a single expedition between 1577 and 1580. This was the first English circumnavigation, and third circumnavigation overall. Having started as a simple seaman, in 1588 he was part of the fight against the Spanish Armada as a vice admiral.
Gulf Of Mexico** is the sea in the east of Mexico leading in to the Atlantic.
The Mummy*** is the Oracle who appears in dreams.
The Sword**** is the master bolt.
I know the Prologue doesn't look like a Pirate story but it is very crucial for the Pirates. "The language would be modern English and all of the history up till 1600 is true for this story but everything after it is different. Thank you for reading my Prologue. I hope it wasn't too big or short. I seek to improve my writing so constructive criticism will help.
