A/N: I'm back with another chapter of "The Power of Light"! This story has been a lot of fun to write so far, and I am really excited to share it with all of you. It may be my birthday, but this is my gift to all of my fans! I hope you like it!

Chapter 1
Disney's Animal Kingdom, 6 Months Earlier
"I hate to say, 'I told you so', but we are in serious trouble, Finn!" yelled Maybeck.
His words could hardly be heard over the chaos behind them, but Finn and the others couldn't disagree.
"We can argue about what went wrong later, OK? If you want to live to see another sunrise, I suggest you keep running! They're catching up!"
The 7 Keepers had crossed over into the Animal Kingdom half an hour earlier. They had received an anonymous report from someone within the park about some recent disturbances. Strange things had been happening to various Characters at the theme park, and they had decided to investigate.
Finn should have realized that they were walking into a trap.
The moment they had crossed over into the park as their DHIs in front of the entrance of Pandora, the trouble began. A herd of vicious hyenas from the Lion King emerged from the jungle foliage around them. They licked their lips hungrily as they slowly approached their unwitting prey.
The Keepers didn't have to think twice. As one, they turned and ran in the opposite direction as fast as they could.
"PUSH THE BUTTON!", screamed Willa at the top of her lungs.
Philby grabbed the Return from his pocket and pressed the red button.
Nothing happened.
He tried again. And again. And again.
"Anytime would be great, Philby!"
"It's not working! I think the OTs are jamming the signal!"
"FIX IT, PROFESSOR! GET US OUT OF HERE NOW! I DON'T WANT TO END UP AS LUNCH!"
"Just- give me a second! I'll try to bypass the server."
Philby began to run the program diagnostics using the Return app on his phone. He had designed it himself for just such an emergency.
The hyenas continued to give chase as the Keepers made their way through the Oasis at the front of the park entrance. The DHIs didn't always work properly outside the gates. Maybe, they still had a chance.
"Almost..there…I GOT IT! EVERYONE STAND TOGETHER!"
Philby, the genius of the group, pressed the button again, and the DHIs vanished into the night.
All of them, that is, except for Finn.
As he reached for Amanda's hand in the seconds before they Returned, Finn was hit by a bolt of purple energy. It spread throughout his hologram like a magical suit. When the others disappeared, Finn could only watch as the hyenas finally reached him.
Only this time, they had been joined by the Evil Queen, Jafar, and an army of weasel guards.
The spell that had been cast upon him left Finn unable to move a muscle. He could feel his blood turn cold as the weasels raised their spears.
Their captain approached Jafar.
"The others escaped, sir."
Jafar smirked.
"No matter," he chuckled, "We have what we came for."
Finn tried to break free from the force field, but no matter how hard he tried, his body refused to cooperate. All he could do was stare at the army in front of him.
"We've brought you a little gift, my young friend."
Finn found his voice and tried to sound intimidating.
"No, thanks! I don't accept gifts from old sorcerers!"
"Oh, but I think you will like this one! A lot of planning and great care went into making it. Your Majesty, the crystal, if you would be so kind."
The Evil Queen withdrew a large, crystalized heart from her robes. The strange object was pure white and could even be considered beautiful. But Finn didn't like where this was going.
"Thanks, but I'm not really into jewelry."
"Silence, boy!", snapped the Evil Queen. And she began to chant.
"Vires tenebrarum et umbrae voco!
Lucem in hac anima vince!
Da virtutem suam!"[1]
Suddenly, Finn felt a hot, sharp pain deep inside his chest. Thunder clashed overhead as the sky turned a dark green. Where moments before the night sky had been clear and filled with stars, now purple foreboding storm clouds began to take shape.
From inside the largest of the clouds, a bolt of purple lightning came crashing down. It struck Finn on the spot, causing him to scream in agony. He thought he may pass out from the torture.
But nothing could have prepared him for what happened next.
A blue beam of light was now growing from inside him. As he watched in horror, the light grew bigger and bigger until it was forced out of his body. The Evil Queen held out the large crystal heart, which seemed to be attracting the light like a magnet. In a matter of seconds, the light had been completely absorbed.
At the same time, the force field that held Finn in place disappeared. He fell to the ground, still in shock and pain from what had just occurred.
It was then that he realized that his body no longer glowed the familiar blue of his DHI.
He was in his human form.
Before he could even acknowledge his disbelief at his predicament, the weasels were lifting him off the ground. He struggled to break free from their grip, but he was vastly outnumbered. They quickly bound his arms behind his back and gagged him with a large cloth. Then, they shoved him to his knees.
"Well done, Queenie!", Jafar announced. "All according to plan."
Jafar began to walk closer to the captive in front of him, a cruel look in his eyes.
"Now, the real fun can begin."
Finn let out a yell that was unheard through his gag as one of the weasels stuck something sharp into the side of his neck. The sedative worked almost immediately, and he could feel the last bit of strength leaving him.
The last thing he remembered was Jafar and the Evil Queen's laughter ringing in his ears….
Meanwhile, at Disney's Magic Kingdom…
The moment the sky had changed, Hades signaled to the Overtakers to begin the attack. Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the Characters fought valiantly. But in the end, they were overrun. Hades watched gleefully as his enemies were taken into custody and led to the dungeons.
The god of the Underworld surveyed his new domain from the Cinderella Castle stage. No one could stop him now. Not even the Kingdom Keepers.
As if on cue, Jafar and the Evil Queen came strolling up Main Street U.S.A. The army of weasel guards marched closely behind them.
The group knelt before their leader upon reaching the castle.
"You were successful, I presume, Jafar?", asked Hades, signaling them to rise.
"Everything went exactly as you planned, my Liege."
"And the boy?"
Jafar motioned to the weasels behind him.
"See for yourself."
Two of the weasel guards approached the stage dragging an unconscious Finn between them.
"As you can see, the boy no longer has his DHI abilities. Phase 1 of the plan is now complete. Behold: his powers!"
The Evil Queen handed the large crystal heart to Hades, who accepted it eagerly. The heart glowed a bright blue from the boy's light force. It radiated with an almost unbearable heat as if it were trying to make its way back to its host.
"How long until he regains consciousness?"
"The sedative should wear off in a few hours, Lord Hades. The prisoner will not have any permanent damage, though it will be a while before he has recovered enough for questioning."
Hades seemed pleased at this news.
"Take him to the castle dungeons for now. When he has recovered his senses, bring him to the throne room. It is time to prepare for Phase 2."
"Yes, my Lord!"
Hades smiled as he watched the guards carry his enemy into the castle. He would deal with the boy in due time. All his men had to do was make sure he stayed alive. He had big plans in store for the leader of the Kingdom Keepers.
And, there would be no one coming to his rescue this time…
[1] "I summon the forces of darkness and shadow! Vanquish the light within this soul! Grant me his power!"
