"Satori. Wake up."
"M'uh?"
Kitsuna lifted her head off her desk and blinked up at the teacher, standing in front of the board with an irritated look on her face. There were some laughs around the room, quietly of course. Kitsuna yawned and checked her notes, realizing she was well behind what was on the board but too tired to be really concerned by it.
"I'm not lending you my notes if you're actually gonna sleep," Ennoshita warned her after class.
He more or less dragged her toward the clubroom once the bell rang. He was pushing her in front of him toward the stairs with one hand between her shoulder blades, thoroughly ignoring her protests. She was always quiet in class and appeared dependable when it mattered. That was obvious to all the regular students at least. Ennoshita and the rest of the team had seen a more complete version of Kitsuna's moods and different sides though. Which meant he knew that she could also be stubbornly difficult at times and slow to start when waking up.
"Hey, don't push on the stairs at least," Kitsuna's whining finally reached him then, with her making an actually good point. He groaned but relented his shoving for now and walked down the stairs beside her.
"How are you gonna handle next year, without your regular caretaker? Not expecting me to pick up the slack on it are you," Ennoshita whined now, and Kitsuna wanted to argue but had been wondering that herself.
"Sorry," was all she could say in response. It was true that she had gotten used to the way things were the past two years. With her upperclassmen looking after her, and eventually the whole team half-carrying her outside of matches. Sugawara's, and Daichi's, families looked after her a lot outside of school too. She was sure that even if Suga went away for college that his mother wouldn't just push her out, but she didn't want to put them out like that either. Something she probably should have been more conscious of well before this point.
"Hey, I know it's cold but you can't just go in until they're out," Ennoshita pulled her jacket collar to stop Kitsuna from barging into the clubroom while the boys were changing again. She huddled up just outside the door, pulling her jacket around her legs. Her thoughts drifted back to the same things as before, until something else came up from the sea of worries.
"Shit."
She had forgotten her second bag. The one holding her practice clothes. Not just that, but she had forgotten to even get her laundry out and pack the bag before leaving the house. She started to sweat just then despite the frosty breeze that made her legs feel prickly. The clubroom door opened up, while she sat there stuck in her personal despair.
"Oh! Isn't it cold out here? You could probably have asked to go first, or used the other dressing rooms," Suga was of course the one who opened that door. And of course he immediately spotted her there on the ground. Given that he was a large part of her current anxieties, he was the last person she wanted to deal with just then.
"Hm? Where's your other bag, did you forget it? Hang on," he disappeared into the clubroom. Kitsuna heard some chatter from behind the door, and some laughter that she hoped wasn't because of her blunder.
"Kitsuna?," an unexpected voice from her right caught Kitsuna's attention. She looked up, spotting an old friend with a confused look on her face.
"Yui?"
"What're you doing out here? Don't tell me you've been waiting for the clubroom so you could change! Girl, just use the girls' room. It's right here. I'll even tell them to leave the key for you, since you'll probably be here more often," Yui pointed to the door behind her as she said that.
"Well. I actually forgot my gym bag today anyway," Kitsuna felt her face heat up when she admitted that. Yui gave her an incredulous look. She wasn't really surprised. She knew that her friend could be forgetful to extremes sometimes. It was still hard not to react after so many years of witnessing these little blunders, and made the former girls' captain want to retract her offer to give Kitsuna responsibility over the clubroom key immediately.
"Oh, hello," Sugawara returned from the clubroom with something in his arms. A bundle of cloth, which he handed to Kitsuna who blinked up at him.
"I had some extra stuff. You can borrow it for today, but don't forget your stuff tomorrow or Daichi'll lose it," Suga threw a warning out as he headed down the steps and toward the gym.
"Eh?," Yui's face went from dumbfounded to strangely smug. Kitsuna, normally not too bothered by little things like that from Sugawara, felt her face burning hotter than ever as the other girl grinned down at her.
"Don't," the redhead warned as she forced herself out of her little tent and rose to her feet. Yui produced the clubroom key and opened the door for her underclassmen. She entered the room with Kitsuna and pulled the door closed, sensing a special opportunity.
"Don't you have practice today?," Kitsuna started to undress.
"Oh. No, there's a break for today. Woah!," Yui almost got sent off track with that jab, but something that had been hidden by Kitsuna's uniform and jacket now caught her full attention. She thought something was strange with the way she was sitting earlier, but now she had concrete evidence. Instead of shorts or boxers, Kitsuna was actually wearing panties. A matching set of underwear, with some simple but cute detailing. Kitsuna caught her staring and quickly pulled the borrowed tshirt over herself.
"Quit. You're almost worse than being in a room full of dudes," Kitsuna chided through a pout. She picked up the shorts next, and frowned as she slid them over her slender waist.
"I just never thought I'd see the day," Yui exclaimed with tears in her eyes. Kitsuna shot the girl a glare as she tried to secure the waistband of her shorts. They were obviously a little bit big, and any accidents due to that would be disastrous to say the least.
"Here," Yui stepped in and tied the drawstring. She tested the shorts as well, while Kitsuna could only stand there still as a statue.
"Wait, you haven't changed in the room with all of them, have you?," Yui realized a little too late that something was off in what Kitsuna said.
"Am I really that helpless?," Kitsuna whined suddenly. That threw Yui off for real, and she blinked up at the girl.
"Well, I guess if you have someone around like that boyfriend of yours it'd be easy to let bad habits build up?," Yui intended that as a sort of reassurance, but she dropped a little bombshell all of a sudden that snapped Kitsuna in a different direction.
"Hah?," Kitsuna leaned forward to look Yui directly in the eyes. Yui, for her part, shrank back too much and sealed her coffin. She felt a cold sweat forming under the sudden pressure.
"S-sorry! I heard from-! Uh! I overheard some of the boys talking about it. Suga's confession," Yui nearly threw Daichi under the bus just then but didn't have the heart to sacrifice him to their junior. Kitsuna's face was red with a vein bulging on her temple, but it was hard to tell if that was only anger. She clenched her jaw and pulled away, releasing her prey this time. One deep breath to recenter herself, and Kitsuna was back to her normal self. On the outside at least.
"I guess that was a little flashy," Kitsuna conceded. Just thinking back on that whole scene was so embarrassing it made her chest tighten all over again. She didn't have time for that right now though, so she pulled on her jacket and got ready to head for practice. Somehow she lucked out and had her shoes in the wrong bag, so that wasn't an issue. She paused at the door, glancing back at Yui who was still recovering.
"Sorry. Guess it's your turn now though," she had a sinister grin on her face that said all too much. It was the final blow that sent Yui reeling. Kitsuna laughed as she left the room, and was still chuckling as she entered the gym just as the last of the boys got there.
