The little flower in a vase brings back such memories, as Shirayuki remembers when she and Zen worked extremely hard to save the Yura Shigure during her herbalist exam. And just the way, she remembers now how Ryuu loved that plant too, how it somehow became a symbol of perseverance and of joy; it became a symbol of her too.
"When did we get the Yura Shigure?" She asks as she turns towards her husband, and just the way that Zen smiles so fondly at the flower fills her up with warmth.
"I just picked it up for you." And Zen looks to her rather than the lone flower in the vase, "Because it reminds me of you and what we've been able to face together."
Shirayuki had to earn her acceptance by the royal family, had to work hard to be allowed to marry Zen, and she also had to prove she was capable of taking care of any part of the kingdom entrusted to the both of them. And it had taken a lot of work for her to feel comfortable and confident taking charge when she needs to.
"It reminds me of when I first came here." Shirayuki smiles, just the way that their lives changed sometime after crossing paths, of the decisions they made that got them here. Nothing like this just happens by accident.
It's easier to back out then to keep going, and they chose each other and chose to keeping going with each other.
"Thank you." Shirayuki almost whispered the words as she wrapped her arms around Zen, just to hug him felt like a moment that spoke more than any of the words that she could find to say.
