(A/N: short JISA one shot set during season 6, after Lisa went to France but before Jacks heart attack. I heard Braxton Keith's song Cozy and all I could think about was this couple since I've been obsessed with them lately. First fic I've ever posted!)
Jack rolled his eyes as the younger cowboy spun her around the floor. She tilted her head back, laughing at something he had whispered in her ear.
If it wasn't for Amy waiting on the awards, he wouldn't even still be here. He had already b been outside three times trying to get the image of her dancing with someone else out of his head.
Jack was with Amy at the Hudson Equestrian Awards. She was getting recognized for her performance this year and she had asked him to accompany her.
He knew Lisa would be there; she was one of the top horse stables in Hudson. He just figured she would be alone. He didn't expect some washed up cowboy to sweep her off of her feet as soon as she walked in the door.
Jack hadn't even had a chance to apologize to her or talk to her. They had only been broken up for a few weeks.
He had thought that they would be okay after they said goodbye after the fire at Lous house. She would come home from France and they would make up.
But this halftime Cowboy had other plans.
"Grandpa, could you stop staring?" Amy asked, smirking.
"I'm not staring."
Amy rolled her eyes. "You haven't looked anywhere but at her this entire night."
"Well, she is just everywhere I'm looking. Why don't you ask her to stop moving everywhere so much?"
Amy laughed. "I'm gonna grab another drink. You want one?"
He shrugged, Amy deciding that was a yes.
"Hey, Cowboy," that smooth, charming voice he used to love waking up to smiled.
He hadn't noticed her walk up because of Amy.
"This seat taken?"
Jack rolled his eyes. "You didn't want to sit over there with your little boyfriend?"
Lisa giggled. "Ehh, he isn't really my type."
"Oh whatever. You've been all over him all night."
"Jack," she placed her hand on his arm, making him look at her. "He asked me to dance. One dance turned into two. Why is that bothering you so much?"
Jack stood and turned towards her. "I thought we would reconcile. I thought we would- you would dance with me here!"
Lisa stood, toe to toe to Jack. "Jack, I didn't mean to make you jealous, but you are the stubborn ass that didn't call or anything! How am I supposed to know where you stand if you don't tell me?"
Lisa huffed and spun on her toes, marching out of the crowded room before Jack could even stop her.
Jack watched her as she went out the door, knowing he had to go after her. He glanced back at Amy, silently asking if it was okay. She nodded at him, watching their entire interaction.
Jack ran out the door, seeing Lisa pacing back and forth near the corner of the building.
"Lisa!"
She looked at him and rolled her eyes. "Jack, please don't."
Jack didn't speak. As soon as he reached her he grabbed her behind her neck and pulled her against him, kissing her like that first time she said she loved him.
Lisa moaned, prepared for Jack to do anything but kiss her. He took that chance to press his tongue to hers, taking her breath away.
Lisa was fully dependent on Jack to hold her body up, her hands resting lightly on his arms.
Jack pulled back, looking into her glazed eyes. "I love you, Lisa. I'm sorry I didn't call you. I should have called. I should have fought for you. I should have-"
Lisa cut Jack off this time, kissing him as he kissed her. Jack chucked through their kiss and turned them around, pinning her against the wall.
Once breathless, they pulled away and rested their foreheads together. Lisa giggled. "We aren't too good at communicating, are we?"
Jack chuckled. "I don't know, Lise. I like this kind of communication."
Lisa giggled and grabbed his hand. "Now, how about that dance, Cowboy?"
Jack smiled and pulled Lisa into his side, kissing her forehead and walking back inside.
"May I dance with you, ma'am?" He grinned.
She smiled and grabbed his hand, laughing when he spun her around and into his chest. As they danced to the quick country song, the two laughed.
"You didn't see me eyeing you the whole time I was dancing with him? I even winked, Jack!"
Jack chuckled and leaned down into her ear. "Is he watching?"
Lisa looked around and nodded. "Think so."
Jack smirked and took off his hat, taking that hand and placing it behind her back. He leaned her backwards and kissed her, Lisa's hands coming up to wrap around Jacks neck and one of her feet coming up.
Once Jack was sure everyone in the room seen his kiss with Lisa, he stood her back up and continued dancing like nothing happened.
"Jack Bartlett, if you keep kissing me like that I am going to need you to finish what you've got started."
Jack smirked. "Well, I reckon you are spending the night at Heartland, Lise."
Lisa giggled and pecked Jack on the cheek. "Thank you for dancing with me, Cowboy."
The end.
