Musutafu (Night)
It had happened in an instant. So quickly that if you were to blink, you'd miss the entirety of the event.
A tear in space appeared above the city and spat a beam of blinding white light to the ground. The beam ricocheted off hundreds of reflective objects until it eventually crashed into an abandoned hospital through a broken window on the third story, kicking up dust as it impacted the floor.
"Ugh, my head feels like it's splitting in two." a young male voice said. A blonde boy wearing a red hoodie and torn jeans was lying face down where the light struck the floor. He pulled himself off the ground, wiping dust off his clothes as he looked around with emerald eyes. "If I had a nickel for every time I woke up in an abandoned hospital..." Before he could finish his sentence, he heard the unmistakable sound of a child coughing.
The boy's left eye started glowing red, and he was able to see a small figure curled up on one of the hospital beds behind the wall in front of him. Based on the figure's body temperature, he guessed that they weren't in good shape.
'Looks like I'm not the one in need of help here.' the boy thought to himself, walking towards the room and opening the door. As he suspected, there was a small girl sleeping on the bed. She was in a tattered white gown and had messy white hair with a small horn poking out the side of her forehead. The boy put his hand on her back for a few seconds, then left the room in search of materials.
The boy was no expert when it came to human bodies, or anything organic, but he was familiar with various illnesses that children were susceptible to. Combined with his ability to see objects through thermal imaging, he was about as close to a doctor as the horned girl was going to get.
Eventually, he returned with an apple. Breaking off a piece, he fed a small fragment to the unconscious child. Almost immediately, the girl's breathing steadied, and her condition improved.
"Okay, kid. You're gonna be fine." the boy said, running a hand through the girl's hair. Suddenly, a loud crash reached his ears. Using thermal imaging again, he found that the source came from the first floor, at the entrance. "Just need to take care of something." The blonde ran full-speed into the window, breaking through it and landing on the pavement outside.
"What the hell!?" a male voice cried out. Turning his head, the boy saw a lanky man with dark green skin and black markings on his arm. "Don't tell me. You were squatting in this hospital, weren't you?"
"Does it really matter?" the boy asked, preparing for a fight.
"To me, it kind of does!" the green-skinned man said, angry. "I need a place to lay low for a while, and I'll be damned if a stupid brat like you's gonna stop me!"
Sighing, the blonde raised his arm into the air, emitting a deep red aura from it. "You know, this might be an interesting way to see how this world works." he said with a manic grin. Pushing his arm forward, he shot a plume of crimson flames that engulfed his opponent. To his surprise, the flames dispersed just before they made contact with their target.
"So, a fire-based Quirk." the green-skinned man deduced. "Powerful, but it's nothing in the face of my power."
"Your power?" the boy repeated. 'My flames were on a straight trajectory. They wouldn't veer from their path unless something were to interfere with their movement. Maybe matter manipulation or some kind of heat repulsion. Doesn't matter. I'll still get past this obstacle.' Raising his foot and stomping it on the ground, he willed a shard of stone to erupt from the earth and pierce through his opponent's hand.
"AGH! You little twerp!" the green-skinned man screamed, clutching his hand in agony. "You have no idea who you've just messed with!"
"I could say the same." the boy said, walking closer to the man. "I'll let you go for now, but let me make this clear. If I wanted you dead, you wouldn't have seen my first attack." That statement, while cocky, sent shivers down the villain's spine. "If you ever meet up with your boss again, let them know that this world belongs to the Mountain King now, got it?" The man nodded rapidly, filled with pure terror. "Now then, goodbye."
With a snap of his fingers, the boy triggered an explosion that sent the villain flying into the distance. Looking at the entrance, he saw where the villain broke in. Sighing, he raised his arm, making intricate motions with his fingers. The debris started glowing red before levitating into place, repairing the door.
"I have a feeling that I'll be doing a lot of fixing around here." the boy said, entering the building. Making his way back to the third floor, he went into the horned girl's room. To his surprise, she was awake and standing up.
"Agh! Please don't make me go back there!" she said, crouching and covering her head with her arms.
"Wait, wait. Don't worry." the boy said, raising his arms in surrender. "I don't want to hurt you, kid. Actually, I'm kinda in the middle of a situation myself. C'mon, what's your name?"
After a bit of hesitation, the girl answered. "I...I'm Eri."
"Pleasure to meet you, Eri." the boy said, grinning. "My name is Dominic Xiao-Long."
