Leave Well Enough Alone

"You awake, Takina?"
Chisato's voice rang in Takina's ears, and her eyes opened, slowly but surely.
Takina turned her head, and the first thing she saw was Chisato leaning over her, sitting at her side of the bed. She rubbed the sleepiness out of her eyes, hoping that this wasn't a dream. She herself couldn't believe it, but here she was.
Chisato was here, a warm smile on her face, and her eyes bright. She was right there in front of her, in the flesh, and waiting for her. The sunlight from the window reflected on her hair, practically shining.
Takina had thought they were so different, but things changed. Things changed for the better, and almost for the worse. She thought it was best to leave well enough alone, and she still did.
"Yeah, I am now, Chisato."
Chisato grinned. "Great! You better get going, we have a big day ahead of us." She then leaned and kissed Takina on her forehead, before getting up on her feet.
Takina felt her face turn pink, and she smiled back. "Right, of course."
She sat up in her bed, and swung her feet out of the bed, getting ready for the new day.
Takina wanted to stay in these moments, stay in days like this, with Chisato, and now she knew she would.
