Returning to King's Cross

I do not own Harry Potter.

Author's note: It's been a long time since I last came here. Years, in fact. I hope all of you are doing okay. I take it you are wondering why I came back. Well, first of all, I guess for the hell of it, but another major reason is the following. About a year ago, I published a book on Amazon and hoped to leverage my following here to help it kick-off. I need YOUR help to get there. I waited so long because I wanted to keep my anonymity here, but I recently decided to hell with it and give it a try. The book is an alternative history thriller about a brilliant alien crash landing on Earth in the 1960s and getting mixed up in the Cold War. The book is also available on Barnes and Noble's website.

Anyway, I cannot post the Amazon link here for technical reasons and because of issues with the website. However, I changed my profile picture to the book's cover so you'll know what to look for. I also put a YouTube link for the book's trailer on my profile. The book is called 'Earthia Cold War' and is available in both Kindle and Paperback formats at a reasonable price. I sincerely hope some of you will consider buying it and perhaps leave a review, if you so desire, once you finish reading it. I would be grateful for any help either way.

Anyway, now that I was able to get that message across, on with the fanfic…

Harry could feel himself float in a dark void as if on thin air. Looking down, he could see himself lying motionless in bed, surrounded by his loving family. They soon became nothing but a dot in the distance as he drifted farther away. Soon, he was floating over nighttime London; it was quiet, and the streets were reasonably empty as most people slept in their beds. There were just a few clouds passing throughout the sky on this warm spring night as he saw the clock on the Big Ben strike four in the morning. Then everything went dark once again, and he could feel himself floating forward as a bright white light began to appear. Brighter and brighter it became as he approached it, and it soon became overwhelmingly bright. Soon enough, he was on the other side of the tunnel and found himself in a beautiful place he'd only visited once before when he was a teenager…

"It looks like King Cross Station, only cleaner and without all the trains…"

He remembered what he had thought of this place the first time he'd been here. Only this time, there was no going back, even if he wanted to. And to be quite honest, he didn't want to. He had a feeling he knew what was waiting for him ahead on his newfound journey, and he wouldn't miss out on it for anything in the world. He sat on the bright white, almost glowing bench by the tracks, waiting for the train he knew would take him on.

Soon, and sure enough, he could hear a train whistle blow, and soon, a ghostly semi-solid train materialized in front of him. As it came to a stop, the doors opened, beckoning him on board. Harry got up from the bench, climbed aboard and sat down as the doors closed behind him and the train began to move again. As if by some mystical force, he was soon surrounded by fluffy white clouds and soon found himself in front of a large gate. He reached his hand as if to try and open it, but it simply opened on its own. As he crossed over the threshold, Harry soon felt himself being washed and overwhelmed by bliss, happiness, and peacefulness. The gate slowly and quietly closed behind him and disappeared. He was surrounded by clouds, many endless clouds, but it seemed like he was all alone until he heard a voice.

"Harry…" said a sweet, loving voice. Startled, he turned around, and to his delight, he saw his long-lost beloved wife.

"Hermoine?..." he asked in disbelief. She smiled sweetly and nodded at him.

"Yes. It's been a long time, sweetie."

Overwhelmed with emotion, Harry flung his arms around his late wife and wept.

"I've missed you so much, honey…"

"I missed you too, Harry, more than you'll ever know…" he said as they kissed, reliving and rekindling their love and resting in the bliss of each other's embrace.

"Hermione?" he asked.

"Hmm?"

"Is… is this really?..."

"Yes, Harry, this is heaven. We've been waiting for you."

Slightly perplexed, Harry looked at her.

"We?"

"Yes. Take a look around and see for yourself." She said. He broke away from the hug and was shocked by what he saw. Nearly everyone he knew, his old friends, mentors, and everyone else he cared for during his life were there, save for his children and grandchildren. Soon, Harry embraced his old friend Ron and exchanged the same gestures with other good friends, such as the Weasleys, Lupin, Tonks, and others. But it paled in comparison to who he saw next.

"Harry…" came a soft female voice. Harry turned around and was shocked and delighted to see his mother standing before him.

"Mom?" he asked. She nodded sweetly, tears streaming down her face as well as his.

"We've missed you, son." Said a man who was the spitting image of Harry himself.

"Dad?" asked Harry, and the man gave a warm nod.

Feeling like he couldn't restrain himself anymore, he ran up to his parents and, for the first time in his living (or, in this case, deceased) memory, embraced and kissed his parents. It was a wonderful feeling that he yearned for and was deprived of all his life. It was therapeutic, and he didn't want this moment to end. But then he knew it wouldn't, and it didn't have to end. He knew that he was now reunited with all his lost loved ones, including his parents, and he had only all eternity to spend time with them, and he would be happy doing just that.

It seemed to him that perhaps dying and reaching the afterlife wasn't so bad after all…

The end.

Okay, so there it is. To tell you the truth, I came up with this idea years ago and wrote a draft for it but never finished it and decided to shelve it, deeming it too depressing and fearing a backlash for killing off Harry and his loved ones. But I wanted to make it clear that while he was dead in this story, he was as happy and content about it as he could be because he had his loved ones at his side.

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this story, and it's nice to see you all again.

I'd like to remind you to please check out my book, available on Amazon. As mentioned above, the book is called 'Earthia Cold War'. My fanfiction profile has a YouTube link to the book's trailer. I hope you guys would consider buying it, and if you could kindly leave a review for it, I'd be eternally grateful.

See you guys soon!
