THE JOTUNHEIM'S TREASURE

- JOTUNHEIM REALM -
Thor, Loki, Sif and the Warrior Three were surrounded by red-eyed, bluish skin giants closer to the cliff. One more step and it could be the end of them. The Frost Giants kept attacking but not enough to get close to them since Thor would love to raised his Mjolnir and this caused them to fly away. The King of Jotunheim was protected by his kind and he can't stop looking at the younger son of Odin, or was he?
He saw how his skin colour change into like them when his warrior happens to touch his wrist. He saw how the fabric melted and when in contact with the younger prince's skin, it turned blue. Could it be? That he is his son that he once protect from the tower away from the war a centuries ago? He will find out eventually. He made his way and wanted to get closer to the Asgardians to find out himself when a sudden light coming from above that covers his dark whole realm. The Frost Giants used their big hands to cover their eyes from the excessive brightness.
As the brightness fades, they saw the none other than Odin who was sitting on his majestic horse while raising his scepter. The horse neighs were louder and the fight stops then a yell of merry escaped from Thor's mouth.
"Father! We finished them together!"
"Silence." he whispered at Thor but still enough to be heard as if he was scolding him.
The Jotun King saw this as an opportunity as he faced Odin. Laufey slams his fist on the ground and form an ice beneath his feet and raised him towards Odin who was on top of a rock.
"AllFather, you look weary." he said.
"Laufey, end this now." he replied calmly.
"Your boy sought this out." he growled.
"You're right." he sighed. "These are the actions of a boy. Treat them as such. You and I can stop this before there's further bloodshed."
"As a King, you would understand that such actions like this cannot go unpunished, right? Especially he caused further damaged." he grins and this made Odin uncomfortable. He knew how Laufey thinks. "But you're right, you and I can stop this." Laufey looked at where Thor, Loki, Sif and the Warriors Three's direction. Then his eyes landed at Loki.
Loki looked at Laufey uncomfortably and heaved a deep breath. Thor saw this and shielded Loki from Laufey's sight and glared at him. Odin, on the other hand, followed his gaze and saw Laufey's eyes landed on his younger son. This made Odin widened his one eye.
'Oh no! Did he know?' he thought to himself and gulped but kept his composure like a king would behave. He decided to get his attention in order to stop looking at Loki.
"What do you have in mind?"
Laufey averted his gaze from Loki and turns to Odin and he smiled widely.
"I wanted to confirm something." he said.
"Like what?" Odin replied, fearing of what Laufey has in mind.
Laufey controlled some ice and it ran towards the direction where Thor and his team were and the ice gets a hold of Loki by wrapping it around his waist. And before Thor and the others can do anything to save Loki, Laufey dragged Loki towards him. Loki was struggling from the hold of ice that surrounds his waist while Thor and the other shouted his name.
"LOKI!" Thor shout in concern.
"Loki." Odin whispered; concern was evident on his one eye.
"Let me go!" Loki shouted while trying to pry himself out of the hold of ice.
Thor was furious and wanted to charge but Odin stopped him and this confused Thor.
"Father!?" he said, hurt but anger was still in his heart.
"Do not do anything stupid Thor." he replied.
"But he has my brother!" he exclaimed.
"I know." he replied this time with anger and turned his gaze to Laufey. "What madness is this, Laufey? Let my son go."
"You said you wanted to stop the conflict and let your son go unpunished, right?" he said without looking at Odin. "And I did say, I wanted to confirm something." then he looked at Odin, this time with determination in his red bloodied eyes. "Do not worry, I will not harm anyone." he assured him.
"I don't trust your lying tongue." Thor said in anger but no one paid attention to him.
"But why Loki?" Odin said, not liking to where this is going. "What is something that you need to confirm from my son." Odin looked at Loki who was still struggling from the ice that held him captive.
"Let me go!" Loki sounds scared.
"You'll see." he grinned and he walked towards Loki who was now looking at him.
"Stay away from my son, Laufey!" Odin ordered.
Laufey didn't even listen to Odin's command. He is determined to know the truth.
He towered over Loki as the young god's eyes showed fear. Laufey lifted his hand ready to touch Loki but Loki complains.
"Don't you dare touch me." he said in a slightly trembled tone.
"Or what?" he replied.
"Laufey, you can't touch him." Odin said. "You do know that whoever you touch will get burn especially an Asgardian."
"Are you so sure about that?" he grins and looked at Odin who was taken aback at his statement. "Because according to my observation, I do think he will be fine." he paused and thought of something. "And why are you so persistent of me not touching Loki? Are you hiding something from us, AllFather?"
They all looked at the AllFather's direction, even Loki, who are all expecting an answer. An honest answer.
"No." he curtly replied.
"Then I don't see any reason for you to be so worried about. And trust me, he will not burn, right Loki?" he said and slowly turn its head to Loki's direction.
Loki didn't answer but he was just confused of what he meant. Yes! During the fight, when one of the Frost Giants gets a hold of his wrist, his skin slowly turns into blue but stopped spreading when he stabbed the creature with his dagger. It doesn't mean anything, right? Maybe they were just trying to turn him into like them but why would they anyway? Volstagg got burn when they touched him but not him. Maybe they are just playing tricks.
"What are you trying to imply?" Thor asked in resentment.
"Silence or I'll cut your tongue, Odinson!" he hissed.
"I would like to see you try." he dared Laufey.
"Stop Thor." Odin scolded him.
"But Father, he-"
"None of your words, Thor." Odin interrupted him. He sighed in defeat knowing that the truth will come out no matter how much he tried to change the conversation. Looks like Laufey found out the truth and denying it will make more conflict between the two realms.
"What is he doing?" Thor whispered at his friends who just shut their mouth knowing that they too don't know how to answer in fear of the wrath of the AllFather. "Why is he not stopping that lowly treacherous creature?"
Laufey smiled and finally, he touched Loki's shoulder and just a second, Loki's skin turned slowly into the bluish skin and his green eyes replaced by crimson red. All of them except, Laufey and Odin, were stunned of what just transpired in front of them. Loki looked at his hand and saw him already blue.
"W-what is happening?" he asked but no one answered.
Thor and his friends were gobsmacked of what they have witnessed the sudden transformation of Loki's skin and none of them dared to speak because of sudden shock.
"Just as I thought." Laufey said and laughed bitterly. "You really are a thief, AllFather." he said and looked at Odin. "I knew that the casket wasn't the only thing you took from us."
Loki's eyes widened in shock and hurt as he looked at his now bluish skin. He just turned like them. A single drop of tear ran from his crimson red eyes. He can't believe what just transpired in just one day.
"You took the casket from us and you also took my son, the one we considered a rare beauty and a treasure!" he hissed and walked towards Odin with anger evident in his eyes. "How dare you!" he shouted and the other frost giant roared in anger. "The casket taken from us; I can somewhat bear but taking away my younger son is something that I cannot bear!"
'I am a Frost Giant? I am not Odin's son and a legitimate brother of Thor? Frigga is not my mother? I am not Asgardian?' he thought to himself, ignoring the growing tension. 'Everything that I saw from the very beginning of my life is nothing but a lie?' His body is shaking from crying and it looks like reality slaps him very hard this time. 'Norns! Why does it always have to be me?'
He took courage and looked at his brother. Oops, correction! His so-called brother and saw Thor was shocked and tears falling from his eyes.
"No! It is impossible!" Thor shouted. "My brother is not like you vicious creature. He is pure Asgardian and you are only playing tricks to confused Loki and us." he defended.
This made Laufey laughed even more bitterly.
"How many limits can your stupidity reach, Odinson?" He replied at Thor. "Don't you see for yourself? He is clearly one of us and I am sure that he is my long-lost son.
'I can't be Laufey's son. I am Odin's son! This can't be happening! I must be trap in a nightmare.' he tried to convinced himself that this was all just a nightmare but boy how wrong he was when everything just looks so real.
"What can you say about this commotion, AllFather?" Laufey's eyes turned to Odin. "Aren't you ashamed of yourself for stealing not just the casket but also the real treasure of Jotunheim!?" he shouted. "Then the audacity to claim him that he is yours!?" he paused. "I thought you to be decent than the other despite of the conflict and war between our realms but I guess I overestimated you a lot."
"Father!" Thor called but Odin just looked at the ground not knowing what to say. "Say something and tell that ambitious vicious creature that he was wrong all along." but still Odin didn't reply.
"Loki is a frost giant?" Sif whispered and looked at Loki. Sure, she hates Loki for changing her hair color but she isn't that heartless. She also appreciates him saving them from a lot of troubles though she wouldn't admit it. 'Poor Loki.' she thought sadly.
"Father! Please!" Thor yelled once again and his voice sounded a little bit cracked.
'Please Father?' Loki pleaded secretly. 'Please tell me that this isn't real.'
Loki looked at Odin and their eyes met. Hurt eyes because of discovery and hurt eyes for finding the truth like it was telling Loki I'm sorry that you have to find the truth this way. This made Loki cry. Hurt! Angry! Disappointed! Betrayed! Furious!
"FATHER!" Thor called once again; his voice sounds so demanding.
"SILENCE THOR!" his voice echoed the surroundings. "There is no use denying the truth."
Loki's world turned upside down after his statement. His shoulder slumped as if he lost all hopes that sparks inside of him.
'So, it is true then! How could you do this to me!?' he thought while angry tears kept falling from his eyes.
Laufey sighed in satisfaction because Odin finally admits the truth and he still waited for Odin's additional statement.
"I also took Loki from them because I thought he was abandoned that night when I found him in the tower." he admitted in defeat.
"That's where the problem and misunderstanding starts! Because you always assumed and stereotyped us that we gave him up but nothing could be further from the truth." Laufey replied, berated and hurt. "We kept him there because we knew that the tower is sacred and far from the war. I didn't expect that we brought our bloodshed war closer to the place where I hid my younger son!"
"Then I sincerely apologise for thinking such thought." Odin replied and his eyes was ended in remorse.
"But why!?" Laufey asked. "Why you took him with you knowing that you always hated our kins, huh?!" he continued.
Odin wanted to answer that but a voice interrupted him.
"He's right." a sniffed they heard and a hoarse voice probably from crying. They turned all their heads to where the voice came from and it was Loki. "Why? You were knee-deep in Jotun blood?" he paused, struggling to form words. "Why. would. you. take. me?"
"Because you were an innocent child." Odin explained, praying to the Norns that Loki would understand why he did what he did.
Laufey wanted to interrupt but it looks like Loki would beat him up because of his questions. He didn't like seeing his son crying but truth must be revealed and concealing it more will make the situation worse.
"No! That's not the whole point. I know you too much!" he was shaking out of anger. "You took me for a purpose, what was it?"
"Brother please." Thor said in a pleading tone.
"I am not talking to you, Thor. Stay out of this conversation when you are not asked." he glared at Thor and then turned his gaze towards his now so-called father. "Now, father." that word just came out from his mouth like it was venomous. "Tell me." he said but Odin doesn't answer and this angered him. "TELL ME!"
His shouts booms and the others that surrounds him could clearly see and feel the hurt and betrayed voice coming from him. Sif and the Warriors Three felt pity from the younger prince while Thor was beyond hurt. While Odin was devastated at seeing Loki like this.
'I am so sorry, Loki.' he thought sadly.
"I thought we could unite our kingdoms one day. Bring about an alliance, bring about a permanent peace ... through you." he somewhat hesitantly admits the truth.
Laufey who was listening, shook his head in disbelief.
"Unbelievable." he muttered under his breath but didn't interrupt them.
"But those plans no longer matter, Loki." Odin added, reassuring Loki that he meant what he said.
Loki shook his head. "So, I am no more than another stolen relic!? Locked up in Asgard until you might have use of me."
"Why do you twist my words?"
"You could have told me what I was from the beginning, why didn't you?"
"Because you are my son. My blood."
Laufey scoffed at this but he didn't dare interrupt Odin.
"I wanted only to protect you from the truth." he replied trying to convince Loki to believe him that what he said is true.
Loki once again shook his head in disappointment not convince of his answers. How can he believe someone that lied from his entire life.
"Because I am that monster parents tell their children about that night, huh!?" he shouted while thrashing from the hold of an ice from Laufey. "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME!? HOW COULD YOU LIE TO ME!? I DIDN'T DESERVE ANY OF THIS!" he kept shouting and thrashing hoping to be freed from this ice.
"No! Listen to me son!" Odin said but was cut off by Loki's voice.
"I AM NOT YOUR SON!"
Thor spoke. "Brother please stop! You're gonna hurt yourself."
"AND YOU ARE NOT MY BROTHER!" he shouted at Thor who was obviously hurt from the words that his you ger brother spat. "AND NEVER WILL BE MY BROTHER!"
"Please Loki, listen to me! I only did what I did because I care for you." Odin said but Loki never listened.
"YOU NEVER THINK! YOU NEVER THINK THE DAMAGE THAT MIGHT COST FROM THE TRUTH THAT YOU SOLEMNLY SWEAR NOT TO REVEAL!" he cried non-stop and still trying to pry himself from the hold and he no longer care if it hurts him because he was already damage from the inside and no physical pain can top that up. "I HATE YOU! I DESPISED ALL OF YOU! I WISH WAS NEVER BORN!"
Laufey was angered at this because of them, his younger son wishes his non-existent.
"Look what you've done, AllFather!" he spat his words bitterly. "You hurt him too much that he wishes himself to disappear! If you hadn't took him from us, he would be happy by now!"
He formed his ice into a blade and point it at Odin who was surprisingly didn't defend himself. Instead, he just froze and he can't keep his eyes away from his now devastated son.
"I so wanted your head on a stick but I cannot do it in front of my son who was crying uncontrollably because of your selfish purpose! You called us a monster!? Why don't you try to look at the mirror instead!?"
"Now I completely understand." A weak voice coming from Loki who was no longer thrashing himself and just there, existing but brokenhearted eyes. They all turned to Loki. "Now, I completely understand why you favoured Thor, all these years." he sobbed and looked at Odin. "Because no matter how much you claimed to love me, but your love of Thor is bigger and clear. No questions asked."
"No Loki."
"No brother. That is not true! You are clearly mistaken. He loved us equally." Thor defends his father's love towards Loki but Loki didn't believe him.
"No Thor. You are clearly mistaken. It is proven and tested." with these last words, Loki lost all his strength and succumbed into darkness probably from too much trauma and truth that he endured.
"LOKI!" they shouted after seeing Loki lost consciousness.
"Loki?" Laufey called and walked towards his son. "Son wake up!" he shook him but his eyes never opened and this made Laufey panicked. "Guards, immediately alert the healers!" He picked Loki thru his arms.
Odin and the others wanted to help but they are stopped by Laufey.
"Do not do further damage than it was, Odin."
"He is a son of Odin and a prince of Asgard!" Thor yelled as he tried himself to get closer to his now lost to the world brother.
"Biologically speaking, he is MY son!" he yelled back. "Leave while I still allow it or there will be bloodshed, Odin."
Odin was having a hard time to decide because he desperately wanted to help Loki but he doesn't want to cross with Laufey right now knowing that Loki was on his arms and fighting him could hurt Loki so, as much as it pained his heart, he chose to take the advice that Laufey offered.
"Let's go, Thor."
"Wha?" Thor looked at him confused and look back to where Laufey who was holding an unconscious Loki, walking away from them together with his loyal warriors. "You seriously take his offer, Father."
He replied in disbelief.
"I am!"
"But Loki is in their hands! They might hurt him!" he replied.
Odin didn't reply this instead he looked one last look from Loki and then looked up asking Heimdall to bring them back to Asgard.
"No father, please!" Thor begged but no matter how much he begged, he received a no answer from his father. "Fine! If you are not gonna rescue him, then I will." he said in determination.
But before he can run towards Laufey to get Loki, the Bifrost opened and they were sent back to Asgard...
