Chapter I

Veritas

Diana was a person of firm commitments and rules. From a very young age, her parents had instilled in her values that she could not overlook at any time. Among them, the most important, and one that only one girl in the world had made her lose, was composure. However, she never imagined in her life that this same girl would cause this value and many others to be shattered without any mercy.

It was a day like any other. Diana, as always, had woken up very early at 5 am and had started her daily routine without any issues. This, as always, began with a kiss to her wife Akko, the love of her life, her entire world, who was by her side in bed and, as always, never got up until a few hours later.

They had been married for five years and there was not a day when Diana did not fall in love with the girl all over again. After wishing her good morning, she immediately went to the bathroom where, performing all the essential tasks, she got ready for another busy day at the hospital. Leaving the room and heading straight to the kitchen, she made herself a tea and then sat down in the dining room to study a bit, as combining magical medicine with earthly medicine was no easy task.

The apartment was quiet, and Diana enjoyed those moments of silence before the day truly began. While reviewing her notes, she couldn't help but smile thinking about Akko and how life had brought them to this point.

Hours passed, and around 8 in the morning, when it was time to leave, a tangle of brown hair emerged from the main room of the penthouse to say goodbye to her. With keys in hand and a briefcase, Diana stood at the door, ready to leave. Akko, with a grin from ear to ear and a kiss on the cheek, sent her off.

From then on, everything followed its normal course. Diana quickly arrived at the hospital, and from the moment she stepped into the building, a flurry of tasks bombarded her constantly. She, as occasionally happened at Luna Nova, resolved everything without issue.

When lunchtime came, she quickly left her main office. With some strange looks behind her, she headed to her favorite restaurant, which was just a block away from the hospital. And, of course, it was a five-star establishment. Delighting in the dish, which as always did not disappoint, she thought about future plans and how the time was coming to move forward in her relationship with Akko.

For the past few weeks, Diana had gotten into the habit of checking her cellphone after finishing lunch, looking for places where they could adopt a child. Just imagining that it wouldn't just be the two of them in the apartment, but three or even four, filled her with nervousness and anticipation.

Checking the time and realizing that her break was over, she sent a message to Akko informing her that today, apparently, she would be getting off work early. Oddly enough, today had been much shorter than usual and, thankfully, there had been no accidents that could rearrange all plans.

By 4 PM, Diana was already packing her bag and storing everything needed for the next day. Exiting the cubicle she called an office, she said goodbye to some of the girls at the reception. This time, they bid her farewell with nervousness and without looking her in the eye. Finding it strange, Diana glanced at Hannah and Barbara for a few seconds. However, the excitement of being able to get home early and embrace her girl was stronger than the desire to stop and ask what was happening.

Arriving at the parking lot, she took her car, started it, and sped directly home. A few minutes later, in the garage of the building, Diana got out of the car with her suitcase in hand and took the elevator to the top floor.

Hearing the sound that announced she had arrived, Diana exited the elevator and, with keys in hand, looked for her apartment number. Turning the already unlocked knob, she entered the place.

The living room was empty, indicating that the Japanese girl was in the main bedroom. Quietly, intending to surprise Akko, something she had come to appreciate for a while now, she approached the room they shared. Seeing the door slightly ajar, she pushed it slowly with the palm of her hand, and just as she was about to open her mouth to startle the girl, a scene that unleashed hell in her heart was revealed.

.

Akko.

.

Her beloved wife.

.

Her soulmate.

.

The light of her eyes.

.

The only glow that had given her life after the death of her parents, was kneeling with her face in the crotch of a man whose profile she could not make out.

Author Notes

So, how do I say this? Well, first, I have to apologize to all Diakko lovers. I know this hurts, but I swear that I love Diakko as well. However, this idea has been haunting my mind for some time, so I had to do it. Oh, and to be clear, this is not a sequel to 'Limit' or anything like that; it takes place in a different world. The only thing left to say is, how do you see it? Do you like it or not? I'll read your comments.

Any constructive review is really appreciated.
