Chapter 1

The doors of the Hogwarts Express close and the train begins its journey. Everything starts to sink in and become real to Hogwarts' newest student.

Just three months ago, Brady Ambrosius was in his normal High School classroom in the Midwest, USA. Though he excelled in sports and got good grades, Brady never considered himself necessarily special in any way. He was able to do things that he couldn't explain, but never thought much about them. That is, not until he received an unexpected visitor one summer evening.

When Albus Dumbledore approached Brady on his walk home from basketball practice, he assumed the man was homeless; perhaps even on drugs. Upon passing him Brady hears the words in a soft, yet confident tone, "It's nice to finally meet you, Mr. Ambrosius."

Startled, Brady spun around. "Who are you?" he asked?

Upon explaining himself, Dumbledore continues, "... and that's where you come in Brady. You happen to be a long lost descendant of one of the most powerful wizards in existence, Merlin Ambrosius, and are the very last to carry on his bloodline."

Brady now felt justified in his assumption of the man being high on drugs. He continued walking, picking up his pace to try and escape the crazy hobo. "But how did he know my name?" He wondered.

In the blink of an eye, the man appeared in front of him again. "Im afraid I can't let you walk away without attempting to prove myself!" He exclaims.

Now annoyed, and unsure of how this Dumbledore character appeared to teleport, Brady decides to play along. "Fine! If you actually a wizard, why don't you...uhh... turn my basketball into a snake!" He says holding up the ball. But upon looking into his own hands, Brady sees nothing but a hissing and coiled serpent staring back at him.

"AHHH fuck!" He screamed throwing it on the ground. Dumbledore could only smile, visibly enjoying this immensely.

"Now that I've got your attention..." Dumbledore continued. Brady was all ears now, though unsure if he was dreaming or not. The old wizard explained how there was inevitably going to be a magical war in the near future. "A battle of good vs. evil, and the good side would be thrilled to have you join our front ranks." Dumbledore said.

"I don't understand how I'm supposed to help when I'm just now discovering my powers." Brady said flatly. "I'd love to be a hero, but I know nothing of this world."

Dumbledore demeanor changes a bit. "I do apologize that we did not find you sooner. Until yesterday, it has been believed that all of Merlin's descendants were long dead. But I think you will realize that everything will come to you astonishingly quickly, as your ancestor was easily the most powerful wizard in history." The old man smiled.

The two continue talking about Hogwarts and the magical world and Brady soon learns he has 14 generations of 'muggles' or, non-magical folk before him, and it's frankly a miracle that he was able to possess the wizard gene. With all the excitement, Brady begins to frown.

"With all due respect Professor, I don't think my parents are gonna be too thrilled to the idea of myself getting shipped internationally to attend a wizard school..." he says in a bummed tone.

Dumbledore replies, "You would be surprised! I've already approved it with them! Though it took a few more 'Magic Tricks' for them to finally hear me out than when I proved myself to you a short time ago." He laughed. "I'm sure they're excited to discuss the whole thing with you tonight."

"So now what?" Asked Brady. "Where do we go from here?"

Albus immediately responds, telling the young man he will help him get all his necessary supplies before school starts on September 1st. Next, about platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross in London. Eventually, the professor gets very serious and acquires full attention.

"Like you said, you'll be far behind academically compared to your peers. That is why I am seeing it through that you are immediately acquainted with a certain Trio in my Gryffindor House. It is prophesied that four Gryffindor students are the Good Side's only hopes of prevailing in the magical war that I fear is upon us." The old man continues, "As soon as I discovered your existence, it was clear to me that you, Brady, are the missing piece to the prophecy."

All of this information at once was challenging to process. The headache growing in Brady's skull must have been obvious, because Dumbledore began to wrap up their conversation.

"I leave you with descriptions of the Chosen Four, as I must be going shortly. You, Brady Ambrosius, are the direct descendent of Merlin himself. You don't know it yet, but you will soon possess powers stronger than anyone alive in our world has seen. At Hogwarts, we will help you learn to use these forces to excel in our world."

Dumbledore continues, "The other 3 are also unique in their own abilities. Ron Weasley may seem an ordinary redhead, but his humor, strength, and loyalty will prove time and time again to be the glue of your quartet. You will learn a lot of friendship virtues through him. Harry Potter is the Boy Who Lived, and defeated the Dark Lord the first time as just an infant. It is Harry that you remind me most of. I think you two can challenge each other straight to success in anything. And finally, it is Hermione Granger that I wish for you to become closest with. She is the brightest witch of her age, and can catch you up on all subjects throughout the year. You will notice yourself spending the vast majority of time with her, and I can very much see you two being the most powerful duo in the world."

Built in friendships sounded like an awesome bonus, but it was the last few sentences that really gave Brady butterflies. "I will be spending most of my time with a witch my age? I've never even met a witch. I'm dying to know what she looks like. Oh God I hope I can play it cool in front of her." He thought. He didn't have to wait long to see her face, as Dumbledore held out a moving picture of the trio. It might as well have only been a snapshot of the young witch, as that is all Brady could notice. She was easily the most beautiful thing he'd ever laid eyes on.

Hermione Granger was a name that wouldn't leave Brady's mind in the upcoming months. Somehow, he felt he had a connection to this girl he had yet to meet, but he couldn't explain it. Albus Dumbledore followed through with his promise. A few weeks before school was supposed to start, he got Brady equipped with a wand, a cat, and all the school supplies he could ever need.

On September First, the young wizard stepped onto the Hogwarts Express for the first time. It felt like only yesterday he had been introduced to his new world. As the train pulls away, Brady can't help but feel elated thinking about meeting his new team of allies... ESPECIALLY Hermione.
