Hello everyone.

This very short story got stuck in my head and it didn't leave until I wrote it down. It's been a while since I've seen either shows, so I apologize if there are any technical errors. Anyway, thanks for reading!

Have a nice week :)

Another morning in Purgatory

Nicole is having a quiet morning. No disruptions. No phone calls. No paperwork to finish…

The most exciting part has been waiting for Waverly's texts she always sends around 11 o'clock. Nothing, literally nothing and nobody has needed her. No humans. No revenants. No other creature the redhead had never even heard of before she met the Earp sisters… Even a small part of her wouldn't mind Wynonna interrupting her morning for something ridiculous like-

"Officer Haught, Immediate assistant required. Two bikers speeding through town at an immensely high rate."

Oh god, speak of the devil. What is Wynonna up to now? Nicole thought to herself. She quickly grabs her keys of her combi and rushes towards her police car, taking the last sip of her coffee she was saving up for her slowly moving morning.

Once in the car she waits for the info of were the two motor riders were last located. After she received exactly that, she hurries to put on her seatbelt and lights, urgency visible in her actions.

Already cursing her future sister in law, Nicole just knows one of the two bikers will be Wynonna. Lord knows how many speeding tickets the cop has written out for her. It's a bit frustrating. She knows there's not that much life in this town, so the risks of accidents are small … but still. It's not safe to speed around like you're the only person riding on the road, no matter the amount of locals walking outside!

The odd thing though, is that there's another person involved. Doc doesn't ride, and most certainly wouldn't speed. Would it be one of the local bikers? Or another vampire or witch or whatever? Is Wynonna on the hunt for someone? Has Wynonna challenged the wrong person and is she the one being chased?

"I wonder who's the other person going to be?" Nicole mumbles to herself. The last place where they've been located comes into view, the redhead still hears the engines rumbling from miles away.

It's a good thing for her, easily locating the bikers based on sound. It does however, take her a long time to catch up and gain their attention. Either they're not looking in their rearview mirror to see the flashing blue lights or they're just ignoring her. Knowing Wynonna … the second one is probably more accurate.

Once close enough, her hunch is confirmed. She immediately recognizes Wynonna's bike as one of the two. Of course it is. Pure black, leather jacket, her long brown hair rushing on the tempo of the wind. The odd thing though, is that Wynonna's not the one being chased by some rando. No, she is chasing the other biker.

"What trouble are you getting yourself into now Wynonna. How many times did I tell you to call me when you're doing police business!" Nicole's already chastising Wynonna for her reckless behaviour. Small part of her is still worried though, so she speeds up a bit, trying to get more sense to the situation, and trying to make sure nobody gets hurt.

When she's approaching them close enough, she doesn't recognise the other bike immediately. That's a bit strange. Being around this town for some time now, she knows the local bike riders. That's not one of them. Plus … the bike is quite … excentric. It's painted baby pink with shiny stripes, rainbow flags all over it, a huge sticker of a duck on the backside of it and their helmet is bright flashy pink as well … Who the hell is this person?

After approaching them close enough, Nicole lets her sirens be heard for a moment, and luckily the stranger doesn't ignore her anymore. The person stops their bike and doesn't make any other motions to suddenly drive off again.

Wynonna doesn't stop though, she just drives away. Typical. Nicole will deal with her at another time. She'll focus on the other person first.

Making sure the engine is definitely put down, Nicole grabs her gun. Just to be safe. If Wynonna is speeding after this person … there's a 50% chance this is a dangerous person. Okay, fifty is a bit optimistic. The reckless and dangerous things Wynonna does without thinking about it twice beforehand …

Nicole shrugs all the disturbing flashbacks away and toughens up her exterior, grabbing her Stetson to show her authority and walks towards the stranger.

"Hello there. Could I have your driver license and the documents of your vehicle please? And would you mind taking off your helmet?"

Nicole is surprised she doesn't get any resistance from the stranger. That's a good beginning. She's already less on edge. Her frustration towards Wynonna is levelling up though. This doesn't look like a dangerous person to chase after for no reason. What in the world where they just doing?

A muffled voice starts to talk from under the helmet. Once the helmet is off, Nicole asks to repeat herself, since she didn't understand one bit of it.

"Hey. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt your day. Uh, wait let me look around for a minute." The person starts to look around for her documents. The redhead is startled for a minute. Under that huge helmet, there is a beautiful woman hidden.

The woman has long blonde hair, with a subtle hint of old bangs that were cut in a bad way. She has crystal clear blue eyes, cat-like shaped. Her voice very soft. Her look so open and innocent Nicole believes there's not a bad bone in her body.

Shit, Nicole has to stop calling other people hot. The last time she did that with that vampire, Waverly was not amused. Nicole is perfectly happy with Waverly, but she's still human. Nothing wrong with appreciating another one's beauty. It's not like she's fantasizing about her or anything.

She does however, notice the fluid movements the blonde is making, the way she steps of her bike and rushes around it looking for her papers, it's like she's almost dancing in place … or she's stalling, because she looks a bit lost…

After waiting for a few minutes, the officer becomes a bit impatient. "Is everything all right miss …"

Blue eyes look up. "Uh Brittany. Brittany S. Pierce. And uhm, no, not really. I can't find my driver license. I think Lord Tubbington stole it again to sell for money to buy his drugs. I swear he was clean a few months ago … but I think he fell of the wagon again."

Nicole frowns. "I'm sorry, Lord Tubbington? Are you uhm-"

Seeing the confused look on the officer's face, Brittany interrupts her. "No, no. Sorry, Santana always says I need to be more clear when I talk about him. He's my cat. And as Santana always says, I say things about him no other human being who doesn't live in my world can understand what I'm trying to say, so you can just ignore whatever sentence has to do with him."

The redhead is not certain what this person intention is. She seems so honest, but looking to the facts … "So what you're trying to say, is you don't have your driver license with you and you don't have your identity card with you." Seeing the blonde nod sheepishly, Nicole sighs. "Well ma'am then I'll have to bring you with me to the station, sort this thing out."

"Wait are you serious?" Nicole nods and the blonde looks a bit nervous. "I mean, that's okay, though I do need to be home tonight, I have an important performance in the evening, it's going to be broadcasted through the whole country and all!" Looking at Nicole's belt, focus on her gun, Brittany hesitates to request something. "Would you mind not putting me in handcuffs? Santana did it to me once after she begged me for months, but turns out I don't like it. At all. I mean, I don't mind doing it to her, but –"

"NO. I mean … I won't put you in handcuffs, don't worry. Just-" Nicole looks around for a safe parking spot for the woman's bike and sees one a few metres further. "Walk with me to put your bike there, a colleague of mine will bring it to the station, after you've locked it, you can step into my car."

"Oh cool! I always wanted to know how it felt like being in the back ride of a police car… it's a shame Santana isn't here with me though."

With every word coming out of the blonde's mouth, Nicole gets more and more curious. Who is this woman, and how did she end up in Purgatory of all places?

Once they've parked her bike, Nicole can't seem to ignore her curiosity. "That's an interesting bike you have. It's quite … unique."

A flash of excitement flashes through the blonde's eyes. "I know right? Santana feels so embarrassed to be seen on it, but I love it. At first it was just pink, but then I got bored of that, so I put some rainbows on it, and Quinn gave me a duck sticker one birthday. I know she mostly did it to annoy Santana, but I loved it, so I put it right on there. Now I'm waiting for a unicorn sticker, but I want to find the right one, plus I don't really have much space left for one … so yeah ."

Giving Nicole a once over, Brittany's analysing her very hard. It makes the redhead feel a bit uncomfortable, putting her hands in her pockets to not show her insecurity. "Are you a unicorn too? I'm sensing it … I think." Seeing the blank look on the cop's face, Brittany sheepishly scratches her neck, a bit embarrassed by her outburst of asking something so private for some people. She jumps from one foot to the other, quickly trying to make the conversation smooth again. "Sooo … you don't have any unicorn stickers laying around at home?"

"What?" Nicole stops her walk to the car, a flashback to a conversation she had many months ago with Waverly coming to the forefront of her mind. "You're not some weird revenge plot Waverly asked you to do? I told her I'm sorry for those birth documents a thousand times and I thought we were over that for months now?" Getting a blank look back she looks at her sceptically.

-You're a lesbian, not a unicorn right- Flashes on the forefront of her mind. Who uses that sentence? Even more, who asks that to someone you've just met. And to a police officer! Nicole scrunches her brows together, looking for lies or avoidance from the blonde. "You know Waves?"

Frowning, Brittany tries to make sense of the question. "Uhm, some of them I guess? It's not like I've seen every ocean already, but I've become familiar with some waves when I was on the island of Lesbos."

Now this woman is really trying to provoke me, Nicole thinks to herself. She sighs and gives the woman a gentle push in the back to guide her to the police car. "Just step in. I need to make one phone call and then we'll go."

Part of her expected some resistance, but the blonde woman just does as she's told and makes herself comfortable. Keeping her in her vision, Nicole speed dials number 2.

"Pick up, pick up, pick up." After a few seconds a beep starts. "Of course it's voicemail." Once the voice stops talking Nicole snaps. "Wynonna you better hope for yourself you did not just ran away from the police but made a direct route to the police station. I hope to see you there. Bye."

Rolling her eyes at herself at still trying to be a titbit polite by saying goodbye, Nicole steps into the car and checks if her passenger is ready to go. The blonde – Brittany – has a far off worried look on her face. It's the first time since they met Nicole notices any distress. Either she's got a really good mask she uses when she talks to people or she's just a bit numb and is used to getting pulled over by police. Nicole hopes and thinks it's more of the first option. It makes her take a mental note to ring up her girlfriend to help her out finding a way to help this woman back home.

"You have anyone I can call for you to bring me your passport and driver's license?"

Getting no immediate response, Nicole looks through the back view mirror, seeing the blonde nervously biting her lip. "No?"

The blonde shrugs, clearing her throat awkwardly. "I mean yes I do, but I don't think she's going to be very happy to hear I got lost again and was speeding…"

Nicole raises an eyebrow, looking unimpressed. "Not you first time speeding?"

Brittany gives her a sheepish look. "It's my only bad habit, I swear."

Not reacting to that, Nicole parks her car and escorts the blonde to the front desk of the otherwise empty police station. To her surprise Waverly, her girlfriend, is already there. "Baby?"

"Hi Nicole." Waverly's eyes quickly take in the blonde next to the redhead, trying to calculate if it's okay to act normal around her girlfriend. Guessing since Nicole called her baby it's okay, she gives her a quick kiss before she takes a step back. "I got a phone call from Wynonna. Told me she saw you and that you're probably expecting her to be here, but she had a more urgent matter first." She sits herself down on a chair near the front desk, seeing the blonde woman analysing her every move. Ignoring her for now she turns her attention back to Nicole. "Which is basically Wynonna trying to use me to calm you down for whatever bad thing she did now."

Nicole keeps hold of Brittany, hesitant whether to put her behind bars or to let her walk around freely in the station. Protocol would tell her to lock her up, but the girl is starting to look so lost the redhead can't seem to find the heart to do it. "You promise you won't wander around on your own?" She tries to sound stern and short.

The blonde gives a small laugh. "No actually. I have the tendency to wander around. You can't imagine the times Santana had to come find me in the most strangest shops in the mall when I got bored again going dress shopping or something else incredibly yawnful."

Nicole, a bit lost at words by the authentic honesty, needs a second to compose herself before she guides Brittany to the temporary holding cell. She's glad it has been such a quiet morning, it gives the girl place for herself.

Once she's locked the girl up and told her she'll be right back with pen and paper for the number of her person to pick her up, Nicole walks back to Waverly, giving her a quick hug.

"Who's that? I don't think I ever saw her here before?"

Nicole shrugs, looking for an empty notepad in one of the drawers of her desk. At least it's not some strange plan of Waverly, that's a relieve. Nicole frowns at her own idea Waverly could be behind this woman, they're not like that, going behind each other's back … well not anymore. Seeing the waiting look on her girlfriend she shrugs. "No clue. That's what I'm trying to figure out. Told me her name is Brittany S. Pierce, but she doesn't have any ID on her, neither a driver license. So for all we know she's lying. Though I don't think she is. But she has a number to call who'll bring us her belongings."

Waverly takes her purse and picks up a very used notepad and pencil, already walking to the holding cells. Part of her already excited for a new riddle to solve. One that doesn't seem too dangerous or live-threatening at all. "Let me talk to her."

Nicole waves her hand aimlessly towards the stranger, giving Waverly the permission to start a conversation with her. Meanwhile she'll try to look up if she can find back the name Brittany S. Pierce in their system.

"Hi. I'm Waverly. How are you? Erg I mean – stupid question. What brings you to Purgatory, if I may ask?" Nicole hears Waverly using her common charm on the blonde.

Waverly tries to seek any disturbing signs the blonde stranger is up to no good, but the only thing she reads is a curiosity combines with a certain despair and panic for the situation she's in. "Hi Waverly. Cool name. I actually don't know. What's a purgatory?"

Confused by the question, Waverly takes a step closer to the wall, leaning her shoulder against it. "Uhm, that's this town? The city you're currently in. The city you apparently where speeding in?"

Brittany's eyes snap back to the present. "I wasn't speeding. I mean, I was, but I wasn't planning on doing it for long, but then I overtook this other motorbike and this person started to chase me and I remember from when Lord Tubbington was in a biker gang that it's never good to get in contact with those members, so I was afraid and started to flee, but then I heard a police siren which made me feel comforted –" Brittany grabs the bars that separate her from her freedom for a second. "Well I felt safer until I realised now I'm locked up apparently."

Waverly frowns. If this girl is speaking the truth, then this is all one big misunderstanding. They need Wynonna here, like asap. Though that still doesn't explain – "And how did you end up in our town?"

The blonde shrugs. "I don't know. I was driving around because I had an argument with Santana about the duck family I secretly kept in our room and they didn't found the toilet in time … and suddenly I was driving on an abandoned road and with a flash I ended up in the desert. Or it looked like the desert. So then I kept driving in hopes I was going to turn back home, since apparently the earth is round, so I'll end up home again right? But uh yeah, then I got stopped here."

"Where are you from. If I may ask?"

"Ow, I'm from Lima."

"Lima? I've never heard of that place, weird." Waverly mumbles to herself. Before she can question the newcomer further, said stranger interrupts her thinking.

"So can I call Santana now, she's probably starting to get worried. She doesn't like it when I drive around on my own. She thinks I'd get lost. Which I don't." taking a quick glance out the window, Brittany takes back her last words. "I mean, normally I don't."

Not wanting to put the blonde into any more distress, Waverly quickly runs back to Nicole, asking for a cell phone so Brittany can use the phone number.

Nicole walks back towards Brittany and Waverly. "So, I didn't find anything on the name Brittany S. Pierce. Uhm, you sure that's your official name?" When Brittany nods, the redhead sighs. "Okay, we'll figure this out. So who are we calling for you? I'll start the phone call and then I'll put it on speaker so you can talk to them too."

"It's Santana, my girlfriend."

Seeing an exciting glimmer in Waverly's eyes, Nicole begs her to not jump up from eagerness. Meeting new queer people in this town is a huge exception, but Nicole is still not sure they're dealing with a criminal, a supernatural or a person with a very bad luck day. So for now Nicole doesn't want to be too open to the stranger. Yet.

When she dials the number it only takes one second before a startled voice picks up with a hurried hello.

"Hello. This is officer Haught from the Purgatory department. I call in name of Brittany Pierce, she's curr-"

"Brittany? Is she there? Put her on the phone right now!"

Shocked by the bluntness and demanding voice, Nicole's not sure whether to scold the woman or hang up, but seeing the nervousness shining through the exterior of Brittany, the redhead decides to let this one go.

She puts down the phone and puts it on speaker. "Santana?" Brittany quips up.

"Brittany? You okay? Where are you calling from? Is this some kind of lame joke? Don't tell me someone hired another stripper cop, I mean officer Hot? How lame is that?"

"Wait until you hear her middle name, that's just the cherry on the top." Waverly bumps into the conversation. Nicole slaps her hand against her face, mumbling to herself how not one day has been mundane since she set foot in this town. Even a normal speeding biker doesn't seem to go smoothly and professionally as how she learned in the academy.

"Who's that? Britt, where the hell are you? I thought you'd be back hours ago?"

"San calm down. I am kind of uhm, I'm kind of in jail."

"You WHAT?"

"No please, Sanny, let me talk." The extra sweetness the blonde puts in her voice is enough to silence the Latina. "So I was speeding and I forgot my driver's license and ID, so this friendly cop doesn't want to let me go without checking that first, so … can you come over?"

"Britt, come on, not again." Nicole gives herself a pat on the shoulder at having guessed correct this wasn't the first interaction the blonde had with police. After some grumbling and looking around, the woman, Santana, found the needed papers and walks towards her car, asking for directions.

When she motions to hang up, Santana suddenly yells out to hold on. "Wait, repeat the address? My navigation system doesn't know a Purgatory…"

"You sure? It's spelled P-U-R-G-"

"I think I know how to spell, officer." Nicole takes a step back, startled by the venom lashing through the woman's voice. Before she can figure out a stern and smart remark, the blonde speaks up instead.

"San, be nice."

Getting only a grumble in response, Santana tries to navigate again. "Shit B, where did you go, I can't find anything about this town. The internet says this town doesn't exist. Where are you?"

Waverly and Nicole exchange a look. What in hell's name is going on here? And how did this woman end up here? And how long until Wynonna comes barging in here?

An hour later

"Okay so Brittany, can you explain it to me one more time, maybe we're missing an important detail."

In half an hour they'll call Santana back, hopefully with a solution to their problem. Santana was going to look further for a town called Purgatory and drive the route Brittany described to her she did this morning, hoping something will get clearer. Meanwhile Nicole and Waverly have been trying to look for a way to find Lima on the map.

Though when they exchanged a look, they both know this won't get solved without a supernatural explanation. The only problem is … it doesn't look like Brittany nor Santana have any idea that stuff exists. So now's the dilemma. Do they tell them? But what would they tell them? What knowledge do they have that could be of help in this situation?

"I told you, I was driving around, a bit mad and disappointed the ducks will have to go. I was so in my mind I got lost and suddenly I was in a desert, so I figured I should just keep driving and then I ended here."

Waverly makes notes, but nothing seems to stick out to be of help yet. Biting on the end of her pencil she tries to look for some clue. Any clue. "So what were you thinking about before you realised you were driving in a desert?"

The blonde shrugs and tries to think. "I don't know. Lots of things. How I can convince Santana to keep ducks in the house. Lord T's smoking addiction –" Seeing the confused look on both persons, Brittany clears her throat. "Uhm, oh that dancing routine I choreographed last week, there's just something not right about it yet. Then I also thought about that horror movie I saw yesterday about an old western and creepy men getting slaughtered by a crazy chick with a gun. A chess match I still haven't mastered. How I should definitely fix the kitch-"

Waverly pulls the pencil out of her mouth, the metal on the end hurting her lip for a second, but she ignores it for now. Instead she holds up her hand to stop Brittany's rambling. "Hold up. What was that about a western?"

"Just a movie I saw. Santana didn't want to watch, but I did, because she always gets scared even though she'll never admit that out loud. And she's super cuddly afterwards, but I fell asleep in the middle of the movie so I didn't get my cuddles, which sucked." The blonde pouts, and the gears in Waverly's head start spinning.

"Do you remember any names, any words or the title of the movie?"

The blonde only shrugs. "I don't know, I was too tired to pay any attention and Santana kept touching my … hand, so I was distracted." Seeing the disappointed looks on the couple's faces Brittany tries to think. "Maybe Santana knows something more? We should call her again"

Nicole, already with the cell phone in hand, suddenly gets interrupted by another person barging into the station. "I'm here Haught pants, don't lose your shit. No need to call me again. I was not the person on that motorbike, before you ask. I was definitely not –"

"Oh my god, she's the hot girl from the movie!" the blonde yells out.

Wynonna stops her step, giving her sister and the cop a confused look. "Uhmm, who's this?"

Nicole snaps. "This is the person you startled with your speeding Wynonna. She thought you were chasing her so she tried to avoid you."

"Wait. You recognize her?" Waverly interrupts her girlfriend, seeing the clear and sure look in Brittany's eyes.

"Yeah definitely. She was the person shooting at those creepy men in our movie." She responds with full confidence and enthusiasm. "I remember because at that moment I tried to explain to Santana how it's not the correct interpretation that hell is beneath our earth. The only thing beneath us is earth, water, heat and fire. Hell is someplace completely elsewhere. It's like the tree of life I once read in a book about, makes so much more sense."

A glimmer of excitement passes Waverly's eyes. "You mean Yggdrasil? I've read about that, it is indeed a fascina-"

"As much as I don't want to interrupt this, I think there's a more important matter to focus on at the moment?" Nicole hints, trying to soften the blow with a gentle nudge against Waverly's shoulder.

"Yes, like how all people tend to call me hot." Wynonna interrupts and approaches the blonde. "Hi, nice to meet you, I'm Wynonna. And you are?"

"I'm Brittany. But don't tell Santana I called you hot, she can become … irrationally protective and jealous really quickly."

"Allright, enough. Everybody take a pause for a second." Nicole plants both her hands on her temples, a headache already starting to form. "Wynonna, I'm not done with you yet, but that's not the most urgent matter. Right now, Brittany is stuck in our world for an unknown reason. For some reason we can call her girlfriend, who's in a town called Lima.

"I think she drove through a portal or something. I'm just not sure how it happened yet." Waverly bumps into the conversation, turning her body back to the blonde. "So back to the movie you watched." Nicole too, turns her attention back to the blonde, ignoring the protest on the older Earp sister's face. "You said you saw Wynonna in the movie and then you were thinking about the movie before you turned up in a desert?"

Brittany nods, a confused expression coming into place. "Wait a minute. What were you talking about just before? I'm in another world? A portal? … am I dreaming still? Where's my unicorn, he always brings me to places in my dreams." Brittany looks around, a slight panic visible in her movements.

Waverly grabs the keys of Nicole's belt and opens the cell Brittany's locked in, grabbing her hands to calm her down. "Hey it's okay. I don't think your dreaming. If you were, how is it possible we're all having the same dream? We've never seen you before and I am certain I'm not sleeping right now. I know it's complicated to explain right now, but just know that you can trust us in helping you get back to your girlfriend."

"Should I just use Peacemaker to check for any supernatural stuff?" Wynonna whispsers in the cop's ear.

Nicole shakes her head. "Absolutely not, you are not going to point a gun to someone who's not being violent or a threat in any way." The stern look the redhead gives her, is enough to silence her. Part of the cop is surprised by the lack of protest, but looking at Waverly consoling the innocent and sweet-looking person and reminding herself she's completely coorperating and nothing like the strange creatures they come across, Nicole thinks even Wynonna isn't in the mood to use her gun. She's matured a lot ever since Alice, fourty precent of the times she tends to think before she acts now… or maybe twenty.

"So wait. You don't think I'm dreaming but you do think I'm in another world? Like the theory of multiple earths is correct?"

"Yes, but I don't think the theory about different frequencies are the way to go. I'm more thinking in ways of…"

Nicole's mouth drops open at the highly technical and mathematical discussion her girlfriend and the blonde get into. Wynonna stares blankly at the scene in front of her, not sure if they're still speaking English in the first place.

When they're still not finished after some back and forth theories, Wynonna unceremoniously clears her throat, gaining everyone's attention. "Soo… I'm all for that mathematical shit, but could you do that when I'm not here? What exactly is going on here and why do you need my help? And if I help does that mean I won't get a ticket for speeding?"

Waverly grabs Nicole's arm gently, making sure her sister and girlfriend don't get in another heated discussion about something they've already been in for a thousand times. She subtly shakes her head, mouthing the word later to Nicole. The redhead tenses up for a second before she sighs and intertwines her fingers with Waverly's.

"Could this western be the reason Brittany is here? But how can thinking of something make you open a portal?" Nicole contemplates out loud, after Waverly once again explained the situation to her sister.

"I don't know." Waverly responds, a faraway look on her face. "Thinking about something is one thing, but something else must trigger it. just like peacemake-"

Sprinting towards Nicole's desk, she leaves the other three women in the small hallway. They quickly follow the brunette and see her grabbing Brittany's stuff, offering them back to the blonde. "Do you have anything foreign in here? Like something strange, old or that has a spiritual meaning? Can I look?"

The blonde, not yet used to the multiple questions Waverly likes to ask at rapid speed, needs a second to gather her thoughts. "Uh yeah, sure you can look. But I don't think so?"

Waverly and Nicole start to put items out of the bag, but nothing out of the ordinary jumps out. Huffing out of frustration, Waverly raises her hand, before all her movements stop. "Wait. What's that?" she points towards the necklace Brittany's currently messing around with. It's a nervous habit of her, when she wants to get her mind more clear.

"Oh this? Ooh!" The blonde almost jumps out of excitement, quickly showing her necklace to give the other women a better look of her charm. "It's from my grandma! That's old right? She got it from her grandmother. It's a charm she brought with her from the Netherlands. She forgot the meaning of it, but it came with a small key, since there's a lock here, so together we decided it's a love charm, where one wears the lock and the other the key. Santana got the key and I kept the lock."

"I don't think that's a love charm if it brought you to this hell hole." Wynonna mumbles.

Hitting her sister on the arm Waverly ignores her. "Don't be so rude. Though I must follow you that maybe the original meaning of the charm is something else. Maybe it's mor-" before she can finish her sentence a new voice suddenly arrives at the police station.

"Brittany? Brittany where are you?"

Whipping her head around, a smile Nicole wears too whenever she hears Waverly's voice comes into view on the blonde's face. "Santana?!"

Suddenly Waverly is pushed aside, falling into the side of Nicole by a sudden black haired woman rushing over to Brittany.

"Hey!" Nicole protests, but nobody's hearing her.

"Brittany? Why are you crying? What happened? Did they hurt you? They hurt you didn't they." The new woman in the place, which Nicole figures must be Santana, rushes over towards Waverly, trying to look tough. Nicole, having had enough of having no control over the situation, grabs Santana by the shoulder, pushing her against the wall.

"Listen here. I know you're not from this town, but we-" Taking a quick glance at Wynonna, Nicole changes her words. "I don't like violence in this town. So either you calm down and apologize to my girlfriend for pushing her, or you're getting thrown in jail." Seeing the slight excitement on Brittany's face, the redhead rolls her eyes inwardly. "In a different one than here."

Santana, kind of impressed and afraid of the amount of authority the police officer shows, tries not to show it and explodes instead. "You did not just threaten me." She squints her eyes, trying to turn around, but Nicole has a too good of grip on her. "Let me go! Brittany, don't worry, I'm here."

Waverly and Brittany exchange a look, while Wynonna looks at the situation with a lot of amusement. Before Brittany can walk to her girlfriend to calm her down, Wynonna decides this is the perfect opportunity to test out if the new women in town are supernatural or not.

"There's only one way to solve this puzzle-" Wynonna, much by Brittany's distress, grabs her gun she wears around her waist and points it towards Santana. The blonde reacts instinctively and pushes Santana, together with Nicole since she was holding her against the wall, putting herself at gunpoint in the process.

A small spark of orange flickers around the gun before it's dense again. Waverly and Wynonna exchange a puzzled look, but it's Nicole who talks first. "Jesus Wynonna, stop pointing your gun at strangers that aren't a threat at the moment."

Wynonna shrugs, whispering something about how Nicole was literally holding someone against the wall, but everyone decides to ignore that bit for now.

"You did not just point a gun at my girlfriends head." Santana shrugs herself free from the loosened grasp of the cop, taking a threatening step towards Wynonna, every few seconds pointing her gaze towards the gun that's now loosely pointed down to the ground. "Tu estas loca! No me gust-"

"Hey wow wow. Easy woman! I was just trying to figure out if you guys are supernatural and a threat-" Wynonna points her gun back at Brittany, the small flicker on the gun shining for a second again before disappearing once more. "Seems to me like something is going on here, so instead of saying French shit to me, you better start to explain yourself right now! Or else I'l-"

"Wynonna no, stop it!" Waverly pulls at Wynonna's arm, lowering the gun again in the process, but Santana starts to tense up, positioning herself in a fighting pose with Brittany grabbing her around the waist to keep her from attacking Wynonna. "San no Snixx, please?"

Those four words coming out of the blondes mouth are enough to let all muscle tension escape from the Latina in a split second. Wynonna can't contain her shock and bursts out laughing. "Oh my god, Nicole look, she's even more whipped then you are! I didn't know that was possible!"

Hearing that, Santana tenses up once again, Wynonna readies herself to start a fist fight if necessary, ignoring Waverly's pleading motions to stop things from escalating. In the end it's Nicole who calms the whole situation.

"Everybody calm down right now! Wynonna, we both now you're not going to shoot them, so stop threatening, these women are no threats for now. I believe Brittany has no bad intentions and obviously this woman-" taking a quick glance at the newcomer, already calmer by whispering words from the blonde, Nicole relaxes her own body a bit more standing at the middle of the battle. "-Santana was it? Is trusted by Brittany, so they're not going to do something bad. So calm down! Santana, I don't know you, but I'm a police officer, I'm here to help your girlfriend, not do her any harm, so trust me we're here to help-" seeing the quick glance towards Wynonna, the redhead shrugs and gives a sheepish smile. "-even if it doesn't look like that from some people."

Making eye contact to the women one by one, everyone realises how serious Nicole is being. When she's certain everybody has their head back on their place she clears her throat, taking her focus back to the riddle at hand. "So even though Wynonna did a poor job of how she did it, there is something supernatural going on here." offering her hand to the blonde, the redhead continues. "Brittany could I have your necklace with the charm for a moment, I want to test a theory."

Without hesitation the dancer offers her necklace. "Wait, and what about the key? Santana do you have it with you?" Brittany, without hesitation, grabs Santana's pants and searches her front pockets for something. A small blush crosses Santana's cheeks, very aware three strangers look over them with amusement all over their faces.

Waverly, deciding to cut the brunette some slack, tries to explain the situation. "We think the charm Brittany has is the reason she ended up here in Purgatory. She also told us you've got part of it, like a sort of key." Santana nods, slapping Brittany's hand away, in a friendly way.

"Yeah, I always have it with me, it's in my back pocket." She quickly grabs the small key herself and offers it to Nicole, same as Brittany.

"Were you thinking about a certain western you were watching yesterday with her?" Waverly asks to Santana.

She shakes her head. "Uhm no, not at all. I wasn't even watching it. I don't think I can remember one scene of it. I was mostly thinking about trying to find Brittany."

"Hmm, well there goes our theory of thinking about the western opens up a portal to here." Nicole claims, fidgeting with the charm. "Hey, what's this saying?" She shows the sentence to her girlfriend, figuring since the girl speaks so many languages she'll understand.

"I don't speak this language. Though I do think it's … Dutch?" Waverly raises her voice in question, not certain of her own conclusion.

"Yes it is! I can actually read it. It says 'Voor wanneer je de andere kant van de regenboog hebt gevonden.' Which basically translates to 'for when you find the other side of the rainbow.'" Seeing the confused looks on everybody's face, Brittany explains herself further. "I know, a bit confusing, but my grandmother and I figured it's about two people each being on one side of the rainbow, so when you found your significant other, you can give them part of it, so you'll always find each other back."

"And a rainbow is also a portal to another realm! So that would explain why Brittany ended up here in the first place, but also why Santana was able to jump to this world!" Waverly yells out excitedly.

A proud grin appears on Nicole's face, giving her girlfriend a gentle kiss on the cheek. "God you're so smart. How did I ever end up so lucky with you?" she exclaims proudly.

"San?" Nicole hears Brittany say. She turns her attention away from Waverly, seeing the pointed looks Santana and Wynonna exchange, still calculating each other's move and silently threatening each other. Nicole sighs, stepping in front of the new couple in town, gaining Wynonna's attention.

"Wynonna, can you point your gun to this charm for a moment please?" A protest already rolling of her tongue, Wynonna grumbles but does as she's asked, figuring the faster they'll finish this riddle, the sooner this aggressive chick leaves her town. When Peacemaker flickers again, Wynonna raises her brows in surprise. "And now the key from Santana." Nicole demands.

When peacemaker again flickers for a moment, they figure their hunch that the necklace and key are the reason they got here, is correct.

"So now what?" Santana speaks up. "How do we get home?" Brittany pouts, possessively grabbing Santana around the waist, seeking comfort in her presence.

"I could chase you again on your motorbike?" Wynonna proposes.

"I can give you a ride to the desert you came from, see from there?" Nicole suggests.

Both women look towards Waverly, knowing she'll probably have the best solution. Waverly's eyes flash between Santana and Brittany, then towards her sister and her girlfriend. Seeing the expecting looks on their faces, she feels a bit lost. How should she know the solution to this? This is an all new territory!

"Uhm." A blank look crosses Waverly's face. "Maybe we don't need to search that far and you just need to ride fast enough again and think about your town instead of the Western real hard now? Make sure you're wearing the lock and key you wore when you landed here?"

"Nu-uh. I'm not going to sit back while Brittany is putting both our lives on the line by speeding at a number that should be forbidden." Santana huffs, crossing her arms stubbornly.

Brittany tries to take Santana's hands in her own, looking her in the eyes. "San … I think I follow Waverly. I think that's the only way to get back home."

"Bbut, what about my car?! We can't just leave it here?" Santana protests.

Brittany gently nudges Santana's elbow. "We can't risk getting stuck in different worlds. We should stick together. A car is replacable. You are not." Tears glisten in the blonde's bright blue eyes, but bites her bottom lip to avoid them from spilling over. "I don't want to lose you San. I love you too much for that."

Santana sighs, hugging her girlfriend for comfort. "Okay. You're right, we should stick together. I don't want to lose you either B, I love you too much for that too." She mumbles in the blonde's shoulder.

Letting them have their private moment, Nicole, Waverly and Wynonna start a discussion on their own.

"That still won't explain why I was the main character in a movie they watched in their world right?" Wynonna questions.

"It doesn't. But does that really matter right now?" Nicole shrugs her shoulder. "Uhm of course it does!" Wynonna exclaims. "You'd think I'd remember when I was acting in a movie wouldn't you?"

"Not per se." Nicole teases. "With your drinking habits." She mumbles in afterthought.

Waverly quickly steps between the two, stopping the upcoming discussion. Again. "Hey now's not the time for fighting. I agree with Wynonna not all questions are answered." Seeing the triumphant look on her sister's face she puts her hand in the air, stopping her from exclaiming her victory. "Though I also agree with Nicole that the main priority right now is to bring those girls back home. This is not their world. How would you feel when you're suddenly in a different world and all the people there want to figure out why you're in a movie they have there? That won't be your first thought right? So come on, let's test out our theory of them driving at high speed in the opposite direction of where they came from." Grabbing her girlfriends hand, squeezing gently. "Nicole, are you okay to follow them for a while, Wynonna and I will keep sure the police station still stands when you return?"

Switching her attention from one Earp sister to the other, Nicole realises she's the best option to follow the duo. She was the first one Brittany came into contact with and Waverly is much more reliable then Wynonna to keep things in order around here. "I will."

And so everything gets into motion. Once they've started driving again, Santana shows once more her complain about the pink bike, but her scolding immediately falters when Brittany gives her a quick peck on the lips. Waverly invited them for Purgatory pride, though Nicole is not sure how that could possibly become a reality.

After the pleasant goodbye's and all three of the inhabitants of Purgatory received a hug from the enthusiastic blonde, plus an awkward wave from the girlfriend, they followed Nicole outside the police station.

They've been driving for a small thirty minutes for now, and Nicole is starting to doubt their theory with every driven mile. They've been riding more than fast enough and not a single habitant is in view…

So what's wrong? What should happen in the first place? Will Nicole see something? Will the-

Suddenly Nicole is left alone. Confusion passes her face, not a millisecond ago she had her eyes on the pink bike with their amusing and (one of them) nice persons Nicole definitely wanted to get to know better …but now they disappeared into thin air. She slows down before she comes to a complete stop. How can she be certain they arrived where they had to be? How can she know they found their way back home?

She sighs heavily, partly worried their journey didn't end as it should have, fully disappointed there is absolutely no way she can figure out a way to contact them again.

Bummer.

Same night – Nicole's house

"Calamity no! It's my turn to cuddle with Waverly." Nicole exclaims dramatically, giving her cat a gentle push, who hisses in response, but walks away anyway. Waverly laughs, but highly appreciates the closeness with Nicole.

"What a day." Waverly sighs. "I wish they found their way back home. And I still don't get it 100%."

"I know." Nicole starts to mindlessly kiss Waverly, trying to get both their minds away from the worry they feel for their newly found … acquaintances? Friends? She's not sure. Especially that Santana woman gives an interesting first impression. Maybe –

"Wait! Go back to the previous channel for a moment." Nicole's attention is fully at the television, not sure her mind played a trick on her or not when Waverly was looking for something to watch on tv.

"Why baby? Since when are you interested in dancing competitions?"

Ignoring her girlfriend's statement for now, she waits until the screen comes back. "Look, that's her! That's Brittany!" Nicole points towards the tv.

A second later the tv shows a full view of the audience. "And there Santana!"

Waverly attacks her girlfriend with a hug, making Nicole fall down on her back on the couch with Waverly on top of her. "Oh my god, that's awesome! At least now we know they made it home safely!"

Looking at the competition for a bit further, both see how nice and talented the blonde looks. Waverly sighs. "Bummer they couldn't stick around for Purgatory pride. They would have loved it. And it would have been awesome to have them here."

Nicole shrugs her shoulders. "Who knows. If we ever find out what exactly happened we might find a way to communicate? Their world looks like fun too."

"Maybe. Maybe not. At least we've got the privilege to have met them today." Waverly says absent minded, vision stuck on the screen, were Brittany and Santana exchange a long hug and quick kiss on screen. Waverly mirrors their action, pulling Nicole closer to her. "I love you Nicole. You did great today, you know that right? My hero."

Already melting in Waverly's affection, Nicole's mind is already foggy to make descent conversation. "Love you too Waves."
