Cattle Drive
At the camp treehouse, Darius is telling a campfire story to his fellow campers.
"We thought it'd be fun. We thought we'd be safe, but... we didn't realize the... horror waiting for us on the island. Claws... Teeth... Screaming... So much screaming."
"How much screaming?" Ben asked as he holds on to Kenji.
"Shh! He's getting to the good part." Kenji shushed him.
"The T. rex stalked closer. Her jaws opened wide..."
Before Darius reached to suspense part, he interrupted by camera flash by Brooklynn.
"What? Huh?" Kenji said.
"For the vlog." She said. "Keep telling your little story."
"Yeah, what happen next?" Dillon said.
Darius sighed and flip his hood back on.
"Oh, here we go." Kenji said.
"The T. rex sta-" He continued the story, but interrupted by Brooklyn again.
"Ugh!" Kenji groaned.
"What is it now?" Dillon asked.
"Out of space. Wait, I'm sorry, hold on." She checked her phone. "I just don't wanna delete my selfie on Everest, you know?"
"Ohh!" Sammy awed.
"Maybe I should start over." Darius said, flipping his hood back on.
"No! In fact, you can just stop." Ben said, not wanting to hear scary story.
"Dude, chill. He's not even telling the story right now, and how is your grip this strong?" Kenji said.
"So, the T. rex stalked-" He begins.
"Shouldn't we call Yasmina over?" Sammy interrupted. "Shouldn't we call Yasmina over?"
They see Yasmina, stood beside the rail and doodling something as Darius fell over in frustration that he was getting to the climax of his campfire story.
"Maybe she wants to be by herself." Brooklynn guessed.
"I don't understand."
"You know how sometimes, people just wanna be left alone?" Kenji said.
Sammy laughed. "Kenji, you're hilarious. I think she's just shy and doesn't know how to make camp friends.
Without warning, the lightning struck, startling her before it rains.
"Maybe we should go inside."
"Way ahead of you!" Ben ran back inside.
"Hurry!"
"Aw, man!" Kenji said.
"Come on!" Dillon whined.
"Oh, it's coming down fast."
"Well, that was a waste of time." Brooklynn said as Darius stayed back a bit.
"Thanks, Brooklynn." He groaned and went back inside.
"Darius, it wasn't that great of a story. I wasn't engrossed or anything." Ben said.
"Come on, he was in getting to the good part of the campfire." Dillon said.
"Just don't touch my phone. How does that sound?" Brooklynn said.
"Let's decide this with a game of foose." Kenji said.
Dillon joins in to playing the game of foosball with them. He then notice Sammy was trying to open up to Yasmina, who was a bit shy and Sammy noticed that she likes the scrapbook. Yasmina walks away to the girl's room call a night.
"I know you're just shy!" Sammy said.
"Can't hear you in my shell!" Yasmina said.
The next day, Roxie and Dave took the campers in the field of grassland with four spherical vehicles and the herd of plant-eating dinosaurs.
"Yes!" Darius yelled.
"This is gonna be so much fun!" Sammy shouted.
"Oh, man! I'm driving." Yasmina said.
"We get to drive gyrospheres? Cool!" Dino-nerd said.
"Saddle up, dudes and dudettes. We're going on a cattle drive, but with dinosaurs!" Dave announced. "It's a dino drive!"
"And just to be clear, all these dinosaurs are herbivores, right?" Ben asked, concerned.
"Well, they only chewed on the last kid a little, so we're, like, ninety-nine percent sure they're cool" Roxie explained, making him worried. "Park personnel are moving a group of dinosaurs to fresh grazing lands across the island, and we get to ride along behind the herd."
"Are you kidding me? Dinosaur migration patterns are my jam!" Darius exclaimed.
"You may wanna consider a new jam, bro." Kenji said to him, "So, uh, you sure these things are waterproof? Looking pretty grim out here and hair this awesome does not come easy."
"Your hair is gonna be fine, Kenji." Dave said, "Storm has already moved up the coast away from us."
"Cool! Time to show these fools what a gyrosphere master can do."
"No way! You are riding with Ben, as a passenger." Roxie said,
"But- Seriously? But he's so, uh..." He protested.
Ben simply tapped the controller, only to it thrusted forward and Ben slammed against the glass.
"Live it up, tough guy." She smirked, making Kenji groaned.
Dillon gets in the Gyrosphere and buckled his seatbelt and putting his earpiece on. It's his first time using this unusual vehicle, but it does sound fun. As soon as everyone is boarded inside the gyrosphere, they are ready to ride along the heard.
"All righty, campers."
"The headsets are for emergencies. You can always reach us on channel six.
"Let the herding begin!"
Dillon rushes off with the others to ride along the herd.
"Wow, this is even better than watching from zipline!" He said.
He rode alongside the Triceratops, Parasaurolophus, then the Brachiosaurus while trying to keep his distance from them and with the campers. It was until the dark cloud is rolling in as if the storm is coming.
Dillon noticed the Stegosaurus just accidently whipped its spike tail at Ankylosaurus head, who bellowed at it as the Triceratops just stopped.
'What's got into them?' He thought.
Roxie skid in front of them and Dave steps out.
"Hey, gang, new plan. Storm's getting worse, so we're all going back to camp." Dave said. "Fun, right?"
"The campers stepped out of the gyrosphere
"Aw, man!" Sammy whined.
"Are you serious?" Darius said.
"We were just getting started." Dillon said.
"Don't blame me. Blame the storm." Dave said.
"I blame them both." Roxie added.
"We're not gonna let a little rain stop us, are we?" Dino-nerd asked. "When else will we get the chance to ride alongside a herd of dinosaurs?"
"Sorry, can't risk it." The co-counselor said.
"But, Dave, I'm sure under you and Roxie's capable leadership, we'll-"
"This is not up for discussion." Roxie said before using her radio. "Hello, hello! Roxie here. Can you hear me? Anyone?"
"Okay, new, new plan. Storm's interfering with the radio, so Rox and I will drive ahead and tell the others we're pulling out." Dave gets in the jeep. "We'll be right back. Stay together and stay behind the herd."
They took off to talk to the supervisor as the campers gets in the their Gyrospheres. Dillon looked up as the lightning struck loudly and spooked the Sinoceratops, causing it to stray away from the herd. He then notice Darius and Brooklynn took off after that dinosaur.
"Uh, guys, what are you doing?" He said.
He sees Sammy and Yasmina drove after them.
"Hey, what about Dave and Roxie?"
He sees Kenji and Ben drove past him.
"What's the matter, Eye-glasses? Don't you want to join in?" He called.
Dillon sighed and drove his Gyrosphere to catch up with others.
"We're so gonna be in big trouble." He mumbled.
Dillon sees Darius and Brooklyn is ahead of them and they almost hit the rock when the Sinoceratops turned left.
"Um, let's just everybody settle down a bit. We don't wanna get too close or-Ah!" Sammy begins before Kenji and Ben almost bumped each other.
"Watch it, Ben. You almost hit us!" Yasmina yelled.
"It wasn't me!" Ben said to Yasmina before to Kenji. "You're gonna get us both killed!"
"With you driving, we'll die of boredom." He argued.
Dillon could hear them fighting over the controller and almost chuckled.
"Someone flank her on the other side and we can lead her back to the herd."
"Wait, you'll scare her." Sammy protested before Kenji cuts in.
"Let the big dogs handle this, cowgirl." He said, "Sino sandwich, baby! Hoo!"
They boxed in the Sinoceratops as they tried to herd it back to the group.
"I'll cut her off. It'll be fine, Sammy." Darius said,
"No, he's gonna make her bolt." Sammy argued, "This isn't the way to do this. We gotta calm her down."
Darius blocked its path, making the Sinoceratops turned around as it heads back to the herd.
"Listen up, y'all. We gotta get her before she goes and spooks the whole herd. Stay to the outside or-"
"We've got this." Kenji said as they moved pass them.
"Guys, be careful not to get close to it." Dillon warned.
"Relax. Darius knows dinosaurs." Yasmina said.
When Darius and Brooklynn got Infront of it, the dinosaur knocked it away towards the herd, bumping into the Parasaurolophus and Stegosaurus. The bump has startled the herd to stray away each other.
"Whoa! Whoa!" Dillon yelled as he swerving and dodging the incoming dinosaurs.
He then sees the group of dinosaurs is headed their way.
"Guys, stampede!"
"Go, go, go, go, go!" Brooklynn said, making Darius head to the jungle as they did.
As the dinosaur stampede dies down, Dillon lost sight of others in the jungle.
"Darius? Sammy? Ben, where are you guys?" He called them in his headset, but no answer.
Before he drove the gyrosphere, his headset is picking up the signal.
"Help! Can you hear us?" That voice belongs to Brooklynn.
"Brooklynn, where are you?" He responded.
"We're stuck in a...mudhole and we're sinking! Help!"
"Mudhole? Where are you?" He only got static response. "Hang on, I'm coming!"
He drove his Gryosphere into the jungle to find Brooklynn.
"Hello? Hello? Can anybody hear me?" He heard Yasmina's voice.
"Yas, is that you?"
"Dillon, where are you?"
Before he responded her, he sees and almost bumped into Yasmina and Sammy, who almost run into Ben and Kenji, who they left their Gryosphere and jumped out of their way.
Dillon looked them as Kenji got up with Ben clinging onto him like a frightening child. Kenji tried to get him off him, but Ben still sticks to him and he gave them an annoyed look.
Smirking each other, Sammy and Yasmina lets the boys inside the Gryosphere with Dillon driving it and they headed to find Darius and Brooklynn.
"You girls find them yet?" Dillion asked.
"I lost them. It's just static." Sammy said.
They stopped as the lightning struck.
"Help!"
"Somebody, please!"
They heard their voices.
"I hear them!" Kenji said.
"Where?" Dillon said.
"They're over there!"
Dillon follows where Kenji pointed his finger at as Sammy and Yasmina follows them. As they hear them yelling, they're getting close.
"Brooklynn? Darius?" He hears Sammy calling them.
"You guys there?" Dillon called.
"Hello? Sammy? Dillon?" Darius responded them.
"Do you read me? We're coming to help!" Sammy said.
"Just hold on!" Dillon said.
Brushing through the bushes, they found them inside their gyrosphere in the mudhole before Kenji opens the Gyrosphere.
"Help!"
"Get us out of here!"
They stepped out of the Gryosphere to help them.
"Roxie! Dave! We've got a real emergency here!" Ben contacts the camp counselors.
Kenji, Yasmina, and Dillon went into the mudhole and tried pushing the Gyrosphere out.
"I can't grab ahold of it." She said.
"It won't budge." Dillon said, pushing it.
"It's too heavy." Kenji said.
"It's gonna pull you under!" Ben warned.
Hearing what he said, they ran out of the mudhole before they sink with them.
"Uh, guys?"
They see the stray Sinoceratops before them as Ben trips over the tree branch. It bellows, making Sammy falls over from it.
"What if..." She mumbled. "I've got an idea."
"Say what?" Dillon said as she approached the dinosaur.
"What are you doing?" Yasmina asked.
"What? Wait!" Ben said as she grabbed the tree branch.
Sammy tried approach it carefully, but yelped when Sinoceratops bellowed before trying to show no fear.
"Hey. I get it." She said, whispering as she slowly walks towards it.
The Sinoceratops moves back until it stops as if it can understand her while the others watching her.
"It's hard to trust strangers. It's a scary world out there. But...I'll trust you if you trust me. I'm not gonna hurt you."
Sammy reaches out her hand and touched its nose. Relief that it work, Sammy lets it eat the tree branch she holds.
"Whoa." Yasmina mumbled.
"Guys?" They heard Darius yelling.
"Real touching and all, but we're still gonna die!" Brooklynn yelled.
"Help!"
"Hurry!" Sammy grabs the vines and tie it together.
Ben took the vine and throws it to Kenji, who is up the tree and catches it and throws it to Yasmina. She throws the vine to the cracked hole of the Gyrosphere which Brooklynn took it.
"Got it!" She said.
Brooklynn pulls more vines as Darius finish tying it down on the seats. He gave them a thumbs-up through the hole, meaning that it's ready before they're sinking in the mudhole.
"Hurry, Sammy!" Ben shrilled.
"Done!" Dillon said, finished tying up the vine on Sinoceratops with Sammy helping him.
"Come on, girl. Easy." She lures it with another tree branch as it follows her. "That's it. Nice and slow. Let's go. You've got this."
The dinosaur walks to it as the vine is pulling the Gyrosphere out. Dillon looks at the mudhole as the vine pulling them up to the solid ground. Yasmina used the long tree branch to open the Gyrosphere.
"Hey." Darius said.
Yasmina whooped as she sat on the ground.
"It worked!" Ben said.
"I can't believe we pulled it off!" Dillon exclaimed.
"Whoo-hoo! All right! All right!" Sammy cheered.
"Cowgirl for the win!" Kenji high-fived to Sammy.
"Woot! Woot!"
They turned to the jeep is here and Dave stepped out of the vehicle to see them with astonished look.
"Hey, look! It's Dave and Roxie!" Sammy said, waving at them, "Hey!"
Darius and Brooklynn peeked out as Sinoceratops grunted. Dillon wasn't sure that it wasn't surprised, more shocking to them.
The camp counselor took them back to the camping roost.
"You could have been killed! What were you thinking?" Roxie said, frowning.
"That we found a lost dinosaur... and Darius and Brooklynn." Sammy said, fist-bumping Kenji.
"Don't ask me how I did it, but I did it." He said.
"What?" Yasmina said.
"That's the funniest thing I've heard all day!" Brooklynn laughed.
"You mean we did it, Kenji." Dillon said.
"Hey, it's the same thing."
"Your eyes were closed." Yasmina said.
"Now stay in your bunks, you hear me?" Roxie instructed them.
The elevator door closed before they head up.
"Weren't you crying at one point?" Sammy said.
"Hey, I helped!" Kenji said.
"Oh, my gosh, he's serious." Brooklynn said.
"Wow, Kenji." Yasmina said.
When they reached up to their roost, Dillion went to get his journal to write on while everyone else went to contemplating from the cattle drive incident.
"Journal entry #4,
It has been an exciting day, yet it was thrilling and scary. Today was cattle drive where we get to have some fun by riding on the Gyrosphere alongside the herd of plant-eating dinosaurs, but it was cut short when Roxie and Dave told us the storm is rolling in and decide to call it a day. One of the dinosaurs was straying away from the herd and Darius and Brooklynn decided to go get it back to the herd. I didn't want to get in trouble for it, but everyone else decided to join in for fun and I hesitantly joined as well. That hustling is causing the stampede and we're force to take cover in the jungle, but got separated. I went through the jungle to look for them until I picked up Brooklynn's signal, saying that she and Darius is sinking in mudhole. While I went there to find them, I ran into other campers who also look for them. It was until we find Brooklynn and Darius, but thanks to Sammy's quick thinking, we managed to pull them out from the mudhole with help of Sinoceratops. Roxie and Dave founded us, but they were really upset that we rushed off on our own and almost got hurt. At least that everyone has some excitement, even it was almost-death situation. I just hope that the next day will go along just fine.
Dillon wrapped up his journal and went to the lower bunk bed to call it a night.
