Koyomi was in her room listening to the radio in her room, in her pajamas, cozying up, and probably about to go to bed. It was an evening to die for. Then she heard a knock at her door.
"Tomo.."
Little Miss Wildcat opened the window like she owned the place, and jumped into her room and sat in her best friend's bed.
"Why are you here Takino…"
"What? A girl can't just stay at her friend's house anymore?"
"I just want one evening to myself! That's it!"
"Alright! Alright! I'll go! I'm sorry, geez!"
"No! It's… fine, you can stay!" She haphazardly said, as if it was instinct.
Tomo was already at the window about to run all the way home. Her face lit up to a brightness of 1000 volts. "You sure!?"
"Yeah… I'm glad to have yo-" She looked down at Tomo, something was different. Then she figured it out. She had a different hair style.
"That's what was different! You changed your hair!" Yomi was surprised how she went the whole day without noticing.
"Oh yeah! Do you think it makes me look cute?"
"I uh…" She thought about what to say. She was mesmerized. It didn't have to do with Tomo, at least she hoped it didn't.
"Yeah, I thought it was too long, y'know? And it took Wayyy too long to style! Plus I think it looks better shorter!" Tomo said this as if her spiky hair was far shorter but it now still went past her neck..
"...Yeah. It makes you look soooo cute, uh huh." Yomi said as if it was the only thought that wouldn't embarrass herself.
"Is that sarcasm I detect, Yomi?" Tomo always was one to catch on quick.
"I'm just more surprised you ever cared for styling your hair, doesn't really seem like your type of thing." Yomi had clearly thought about her hair for a looong time.
"Well, can you blame me for trying, Yomi? We aren't all born with attractive faces, and a nice figure, and nice hair-" Tomo caught her tongue, for once she seemed to realize what she was saying, Yomi looked right at her direction, they were both red in the face. The small room turned silent.
"...So I managed to save up enough money to see that new gojira movie, I actually saved up enough for 2 tickets!" Tomo sprung back up like a toy.
"Let me guess, You want me to go with you?" This was not the first time Tomo had asked Yomi to go to the movies with her, lord knows it wouldn't be the last.
"Yeah! It's got like a new version of gojira! And he's like fighting some new blue monster and-" Yomi stopped Tomo from rambling about kaiju movies again, as much as she hated to admit she kinda enjoyed listening to her friend talk about them.
"Wait, don't those movies usually come out around winter time? It's April…" Of all the times Tomo talked about them, that was the information Yomi latched on too.
"Well, this ones releasing tonight! Can we please go? Please Please Please-…" Tomo looked at her friend with the biggest pair of puppy eyes she could muster.
"Wha- I can't just LEAVE to go with you! I'll have to ask my mom…" Yomi put her hand to her head.
"Your parents still don't just let you leave?" Tomo was a stranger to parental care, it seemed.
"Tomo you've always been able to leave your house whenever you wanted since, like, seven. I didn't get such a luxury. Why doesn't your dad ever stop you from walking out anyway?" Yomi was a tiny bit surprised she had never asked her that question before.
"Eh, he's either out cold on the couch or at work. You know how it is." Contrary to Tomos belief Yomi, infact, did not know how it was.
"Yeesh… That bad, huh?" Yomi did her best to show concern.
"He cares! It's just that he… he… u-um..he's just…" Tomo was on the verge of a breakdown.
"Nevermind! It's alright, I'm sure he cares, really!" Yomi hoped Tomo wouldn't start crying again.
"Um… Yeah!" Tomo suppressed whatever she was feeling deep inside her.
"...I'll go ask my mom…" Yomi sprung back into action.
"Okay!" Tomo was chipper once more.
Yomi knew it was going to be a long night.
