He knocks gently on the door to the shared room that Jay has locked himself into.
"Go away!" Jay shouts from behind the door and he swears theirs a sniffle at the end of it.
"Please man," he says gently as he goes to grip the handle.
"No!" The shout back from Jay is more of a demand, but Kai chooses to ignore it.
Slowly, the red ninja pushes open the door, he shuts it after, and he looks up to find the blue ninja sitting on his bed crying quietly. Milk chocolate brown hair is askew and his face is red, he has a small box of tissues and a water bottle, a pile of tissues in a bucket below his bed. He snaps up to meet Kais gaze, his form loses an undetermined amount of tension and shakiness when he sees it isn't Zane or Cole or even Lloyd. With a simple nod the red ninja allows himself to walk further into the room, even going so far as to hop on up next to Jay who just leans into him without a thought.
Theres a break of comfortable silence.
"She broke up with me," Jay says quietly, refraining from latching onto Kai like hes some emotional support animal.
"Who?" Kai asks, despite the fact he knows that Nya dumped him, he heard her end of it earlier when he first learned from Zane that Jay was sobbing his heart out.
"Nya, I thought we had something," Jay said, his tone is still a bit shaky, even though he knows that him and Nya will still be friends, "have you ever been dumped Kai?"
"Yeah, countless times," Kai said, refusing to admit the fact that most times he was the dumper, not the dumpee, he just got in so many to fast relationships with people who knew nothing about him, and he just didn't like being with people who didn't know the little things, like Cole, or Zane, or Jay do.
"It never stops sucking, you know," Jay says, although the way he speaks pitches it to be more of a question than a phrase hes so sure of.
Maybe he's the only one whose always getting so emotional over breakups, even when he's the one doing the dumping. No matter what happens, it seems that whenever someone he enjoyed dearly leaves his life, he just gets wrecked for up to a week before hes fine. He knows that Cole got in a fight with his boyfriend and shut it all down nearly five days ago now and he's doing amazing, somehow his skills have gotten even sharper, although one can easily see hes just pissed.
"It never does, but, whenever you get left in the dust, or leave someone else, it opens up that spot again," Kai says, his tone was nice, it was soothing as Jay sniffled and blew his nose and tried to calm down again.
"You have a point, it keeps things open, open in the form of a gaping wound," Jay says, his tone pitching higher as he spoke until it cracked into a cry.
"I know, it hurts, but love is closer than you think, I love you Jay," Kai says, and he says it with such stability and worry that he's ruined whatever they have is so visceral that Jay can pick up on the fear, can notice that he really, truly loves him, and its amazing.
"I love you to Kai," Jay says, his voice is soft, soft in the way those words are only meant for Kai right now, and it has the red ninja melting, "I hope you're not just saying that."
"No, no I'm not just saying that, Jay, I've had that on my mind for months, hell, its been years at this rate, I just, couldn't tell you because you were with Nya," Kai explains, seemingly stumbling over his words as he grows more embarrassed and flustered with the situation, Jay simply smiled a small smile.
"That makes sense," Jay says, he presses himself against Kai a little bit more.
"I didn't want to impede on your budding relationship and all that, I've been in this love for so long, I just didn't want to end up hurting you because of it," Kai says, further explaining his situation and why he had to tactfully refrain from his carnal desired for Jays charms, going over and at it with Cole from time to time just to deal with it getting pent up, all his emotions, like molten flames burning down everything.
"Well, now you know that it didn't end up hurting either of us," Jay says, he can't help but press a small kiss to Kais lips and the spark is literal, only that of static, but Kai knows its Jays and he loves it.
