(Inset song; Valentine by Laufey, victorian style)
How could someone be this gorgeous!?
How could someone look so….alluring in the color white?
Oh, Iris, my love…
Why did life have to end this way?
Oh, Iris, I'm so sorry.
(1 year prior)
It was now the big day.
Everyone was shocked that out of anyone Iris was going to marry, Mephisto was the first person that popped into her head after defeating Greymore and Praxina, was to marry Praxina's twin brother, out of all people.
After the announcement, Auriana seemed a little jealous, that out of everyone who was getting married first, Iris was the last person on her mind.
Auriana seemed, well, envious, of this announcement.
The entire time the engagement part was being set up, Auriana was not happy.
"I don't get it, out of everyone, HIM? I should be getting married first, that should me!"
Weeks of planning, bridesmaid parties, makeup, trying on dresses, and flower picking, make Auriana's blood boil.
"What is your problem?" Talia asked as they were out buying food for the engagement party. Auriana was silent, her heart heavy with emotions she didn't want to express as Talia was pushing the cart full of party supplies, as Auriana looked so pissed off, it sounded like Auriana was seconds away from beating up an old lady.
She felt guilty for wanting Iris to get married first, even though she knew it wasn't fair. She felt helpless and ashamed of her feelings.
"Mephisto is too handsome for someone so plain like Iris." Auriana said, as she grabbed three bottles of white wine, with an annoyed look on her face, while looking at the snacks.
Talia sighed as she grabbed a handful of cookies, putting them in the cart.
Auriana opened a bottle and quickly downed in it, trying to suppress her feelings of insecurity. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. She knew she had to stay strong.
"He used to like you, now he loves Iris, big whoop."
Auriana couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy, wondering why fate had chosen Iris instead of her to be the first to walk down that aisle.
Months went by, and Auriana kept her mouth shut, secretly plotting.
As all of the bridesmaids were inside the bridalshop, Auriana grew more and more livid. The atmosphere in the bridal shop was filled with excitement as everyone tried on various bridesmaid dresses to find their perfect fit and simply have a good time. Amidst the bustling activity, Iris stood out as she elegantly walked down the shop, showcasing the dress she had chosen, twirling around and singing with delight.
"What do you think, Auriana?"
Auriana, who was sitting near Iris loud and clear, was too mad to say something her head somewhere else as Iris was trying to get her attention.
"Auriana!?"
The princess of Volta, as annoyed as she was, shot her head up, nodding that she liked the dress, putting on her best fake smiled and smiled, running up to hug Iris, saying she was so happy to be by her side, pretending to ballroom dancing Iris, hand in hand,as everyone laughed.
After everyone left, Iris pulled Auriana aside.
"Auriana, are you ok? Im so scared for you."
Iris' heart raced as she looked into Auriana's eyes, her own filled with a mixture of concern and determination. The room seemed to grow quieter, as if the silence amplified the intensity of their private was standing near the altar, glaring, but kept a sweet smile on her face.
"Stressed, bloated, life is kicking me in the butt, but everything else is fine."
"Alright, how about we go and get drinks tonight?"
Auriana faked a smile, but rejected it saying she had to do something for her brother, but Auriana mentioned her brother, Iris quickly stopped Auriana.
"Can you ask Jordan, your brother, to walk me down the aisle?"
Auriana had an intense anger that could kill a bear. However, she turned around and smiled like an angel, with the nicest tone in her voice, said she would love the idea of her brother doing that. Auriana said she would talk to him about it.
She never asked her brother to walk Iris down the aisle. Ever.
Weeks, turned into months of Auriana hating Mephisto and Iris getting married, she was punching herself, trying to find a way to get Mephisto back.
Until she found one of Praxina's old spell books, one of which came in hand perfectly.
(Night before the wedding, Auriana's hotel room)
"Auriana, thank you for calling me, did something happen?" Iris asked, holding a bottle of wine.
"Hey Iris, thanks for picking up. Yeah, something happened. Can you come over?"
" Of course! What's going on?"
As she spoke to Iris, Auriana adopted a false sense of worry in her voice, using physical touch by placing her hand on Iris's shoulder, and even resorting to fake tears, all in an effort to deceive her.
"I have a feeling Praxina will come."
Iris made a face, but Auriana continued with her fake story.
"I've had the same dream repeatedly, oh my god."
Auriana hooved herself over Iris' body, holding her stomach as she cried herself.
"But i found a spell, from my grandmother's book to keep her away, and I want to use it onto you i'm just so scared for you and Mephisto."
Iris couldn't help but smile as she and her friend spent the next four hours immersed in their magical practice, repeating the intricate and mesmerizing spell over and over again.
(Wedding)
The song captures the beauty of the bride and her special day, enhanced by the warm light of the candles and the soft music of the harp, the blissful flower blooming as Iris was humming the tune to herself, as the crowd looked in awe, seeing the blonde Ephedian princess was now going to be a queen. The groom, overcome with emotion, stands at the front of the aisle, waiting for his bride to join him.
Today was a special day for her; she was getting married.
The music drifted through the air, and Iris' heart was filled with joy. Everyone was looking at her, and she knew that this moment would last forever. She felt special, she felt like a queen, and the man she was about to marry was going to be the King of Epheida.
She was going to be loved and cherished by Mephisto.
As she made her way up to the altar, her eyes wide with happiness, she felt her stomach turn.
She felt ill.
But that feeling went away as she finally was face to face with her soon-to-be husband.
"Hi Iris. Mephisto whispered as she was smiling wide, looking at his soon-to-be-wife..
"Hi Mephisto."
Staring at each other, Auriana mumbled something.
As the two couple were exchanging vows, Mephisto glanced over at Auriana, who was smiling weirdly, as he turned back to his wife, Iris's eyes went grey, for a few seconds.
Iris spoke her vows, but what didn't know it would be her last as Auriana stared whispering under her breath.
"I will love your stories I will love your jokes I will love everything about you I will love your small little kisses I will love your little tickles I will-"
While Iris was talking, her complexion turned pale, and the bystanders looked at each other in confusion, unable to comprehend why the previously loving couple had undergone a sudden change. At the same time, Iris's stomach started to churn once more. As her face paled, she was overcome by a sensation of sickness in her stomach.
She had no idea what to do. She glanced up at Mephisto and dropped to her death.
To death and more to come.
