In the courtyard several Night's Watch brothers allied to Allister are pointing crossbows at the room that everyone allied with Jon are held up in. Allister approaches the door to the room with several men and knocks. The Night's Watch brothers and everyone inside draw their sword and Ghost growls. Davos stands up and walks to the door. Allister knocks again.
Allister said, "Ser Davos, we have no cause to fight. We are both anointed knights."
Davos said, "Hear that, ladies and lads? Nothing to fear."
Allister said, "I will grant amnesty to all brothers who throw down their arms before nightfall. And you, Ser Davos, with Lady Aldarra's people and soldiers, I will allow you to travel south, free with fresh horses.
Davos said, "And some mutton. I'd like some mutton." He was being sarcastic.
Allister asked, "What?"
Davos said, "I'm not much of a hunter. We'll need some of the food that Aldarra brought if we're gonna make it south without starving to death."
Allister said grinning at the others as they looked sinister and shrugged, "We'll give you food. You can bring the Red Woman with you if you like. Or you can leave her here with us or any of the women, whichever you choose. But surrender by nightfall or this ends with blood."
Davos said condescendingly, "Thank you, Ser Alliser. We'll discuss amongst ourselves and come back to you with an answer." Allister and his men leave.
Davos said, "Boys, I've been running from men like that all my life. In my learned opinion, we open that door…"
One brother said, "And they'll slaughter us all."
Another brother said, "They want to come in, they're gonna come in."
Davos said, "Aye, but we don't need to make it easy for them."
The second brother said, "Edd is our only chance."
The first brother said, "It's a sad fucking statement if Dolorous Edd is our only chance."
Davos said, "There's always the Red Woman."
The first brother said, "What's one redhead gonna do against 40 armed men?"
Davos said, "You haven't seen her do what I've seen her do."
Melisandre is sitting at the edge of her bed by a fire in her room. She looks across the room at a small mirror standing on a table, then walks over to it. Melisandre gazes into the mirror, then disrobes. She removes her collar. The gemstone in its center glimmers. She places the collar on the table beside the mirror. The mirror's reflection reveals that her appearance has changed to that of an extremely elderly woman. Melisandre continues to stare at herself in the mirror, then walks back over to the bed and gets under the covers.

The Night's Watch members allied to Allister are poised with crossbows pointed at the room Davos and the other Night's Watch members faithful to Jon are in. Allister is outside the door to the room, accompanied by several others who are loyal to him. Inside the room, Jon's body remains on the table. Davos, the faithful brothers, Ghost, Aldarra and her friends are all standing in the room.
Allister says with authority, "It's time, Ser Davos. Open the door and the men inside can rejoin their brothers in peace. We'll even set the wolf free north of the Wall where it belongs. Nobody needs to die tonight." They all nod in agreement.
Davos turns to address the Night's Watch faithful brothers. He says, "I've never been much of a fighter." Davos walks over to Longclaw, Jon's sword, and picks it up.
Davos says to Jon, "Apologies for what you're about to see." Davos unsheathes Longclaw. The faithful brothers, Aldarra, Jorah and Barristan follow suit, drawing their own blades.
Allister Thorne turns to address a Night's Watchman. He said with authority, "Come on." The Night's Watchman lifts a large hammer and walks over to the door. He begins slamming the hammer against the door repeatedly. Ghost begins to growl and bark. Davos and company ready themselves for battle. After a number of swings, the Night's Watchman with the hammer breaks a hole in the door. A loud thudding can be heard somewhere behind Allister and the rest with him. They turn to see what the noise is about. The thudding is coming from one of the courtyard's main gates. Wun Wun, the giant Jon befriended, breaks down the gate and the Wildlings and Aldarra' soldiers led by Tormund and Dolorous Edd rush into the courtyard. The Night's Watch loyal to Allister have bows drawn at the Wildlings but do not fire. They back up slowly.
Allister screamed, "Attack!" He draws his sword. A Night's Watchman charged Tormund. Tormund cuts him down. The other Night's Watch members do not retaliate.
Allister screamed, "Fight, you cowards!" A Night's Watchman on a balcony shoots Wun Wun in the shoulder with a crossbow bolt. Wun Wun turns to face the man, then grabs him by the legs, slams him against a wall, and tosses his body to the ground in front of Allister Thorne. The Night's Watch members allied to Allister begin dropping their weaponry. Tormund and Dolorous Edd approach Allister, swords drawn.
Allister spat nastily to Dolorous Edd, "You fucking traitor!"
Dolorous Edd said, "The only traitors here are the ones who shoved their knives into their Lord Commander's heart."
Allister said hatefully, "For thousands of years the Night's Watch has held Castle Black against the Wildlings."
Tormund smirked and said, "Until you." Olly shouts and charges at Tormund with his sword. Tormund grabs Olly and disarms him, then tosses him to another man who restrains him. Two men take Allister by the arms.
Dolorous Edd said with authority, "Throw them into the cells where they belong." The men drag Allister, Olly, and the Night's Watch betrayers away.
Tormund, Dolorous Edd, and Davos enter the room where Jon Snow's body is and everyone else. They stare down at him and his wounds.
Tormund said seriously, "Took a lot of knives. I'll have my men get the wood for a fire. Bodies to burn." He walked out of the room.

In Melisandre's room, she is sitting by the fireplace. Someone knocks on the door.
Melisandre said, "Come in." Davos enters the room, closing the door. Davos looks at the fireplace and then at her.
Davos said, "I assume you know why I'm here."
She said, "I will after you tell me."
Davos said, "It's about the Lord Commander."
Melisandre said soberly, "The former Lord Commander."
Davos asked, "Does he have to be?" She looks at Davos.
Melisandre asked, "What are you asking for?"
Davos asked, "Do you know of any magic...that could help him? Bring him back?"
She said, "If you want to help him, leave him be."
Davos asked, "Can it be done?"
Melisandre said, "There are some with his power."
Davos asks, "How?"
Melisandre said, "I don't know."
Davos asked, "Have you seen it done?"
She said, "I met a man who came back from the dead, but the priest who did it -- It shouldn't have been possible."
Davos said, "But it was. It could be now."
She said, "Not for me." She stands and walks away from her chair. Davos walks towards her.
Davos asks, "Not for you? I saw you drink poison that should've killed you. I saw you give birth to a demon made of shadows."
She said, "Everything I believed, the great victory I saw in the flames, all of it was a lie." She looks at him.
She said feeling regretful, "You were right all along. The Lord never spoke to me."
Davos said, "Fuck him, then. Fuck all of them. I'm not a devout man, obviously. Seven Gods, drowned gods, tree gods, it's all the same." He comes a step closer to her.
Davos said, "I'm not asking the Lord of Light for help. I'm asking the woman who showed me that miracles exist."
She said, "I never had this gift."
Davos asked, "Have you ever tried?"

In the room where Jon's body is, Davos, Tormund, Dolorous Edd, Aldarra, Sansa and Melisandre are gathered around Jon's body. Ghost is sleeping on the floor. Melisandre is performing a ritual on Jon's body. She wrings out a wet cloth with which she cleans out the wounds of Jon. She cuts his hair and beard and throws the hairs in a fire pit. Then she places her hands on Jon's chest and utters an incantation in Valyrian. She sighs.
She begs, "Please." She lets her hands down slowly. She has tears in her eyes and looks to Davos. Tormund scoffs and leaves, followed by Melisandre and Dolorous Edd. Davos lingers and stares at Jon's body, but eventually leaves. Aldarra and Sansa remain feeling defeated in their hope that it worked. Ghost suddenly wakes up and looks at Jon. Jon's eyes snap open and he gasps for breath. Aldarra and Sansa jump in shock watching him come back to life.

In Winterfell's dining room, Roose Bolton, Ramsay, and Lord Karstark are gathered at the dining table, talking. Ramsay and Lord Karstark are standing, while Roose remains seated at the head of the table.
Lord Karstark said, "We came upon the bodies on our way here."
Roose said, "Stannis' men?"
Ramsay said, "They should all be burned in a pile. I'm sure the wildlife has been sated on them by now. I suppose we could send out some men to do that."
Roose said, "Thank you for this report, Lord Kastark."
Ramsay said, "We should go after Jon Snow at Castle Black."
Lord Karstark said, "Ned Stark's last surviving son?"
Roose said, "Jon Snow is a bastard, not a Stark."
Ramsay said, "So was I, Father."
Lord Karstark said, "Your hold on the North will never be secure as long as a Stark can walk through that door."
Ramsay said, "Castle Black isn't defended on the southern side. And the few men left are barely men at all. Farm boys and thieves. With a small force we could storm the castle, take my promised wife Sansa, kill Jon Snow…"
Roose said, "Murder the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch? You'd unite every house in the North against us."
Ramsay said, "We don't need every house in the North, but with Sansa as my wife I will have the Stark reputation to have every house bend the knee. The Umbers, the Manderlys, and the Karstarks. command more soldiers than all the other houses combined. With their support, none could challenge us."
Lord Karstark said, "The Starks lost my house the day King Rob cut off my father's head. It's time for new blood in the North." Roose looks at both his son and lord Karstark. He gets up and stands in front of them.
Roose said, "If you acquire a reputation as a mad dog, you'll be treated as a mad dog. Taken out back and slaughtered for pig feed. You force marrying her may not be good for you, but you have to get her first." Maester Wolkan enters and interrupts them.
Maester Wolkan said, "My lords. Lady Walda has given birth. A boy. Red-cheeked and healthy."
Lord Karstark said, "My congratulations, Lord Bolton." Ramsay steps towards his father. They hug.
Ramsay said, "Congratulations, Father. I look forward to meeting my new brother." Roose puts his hand on Ramsay's shoulder.
Roose said, "You'll always be my firstborn."
Ramsay said, "Thank you for saying that. It means a great deal to me." Ramsay stabs Roose in the gut with a knife. He falls to the ground and dies bleeding out. Ramsay steps away from his body and cleans his knife.
Ramsay said, "Maester Wolkan, send ravens to all the Northern houses. Roose Bolton is dead. Poisoned by our enemies." Maester Wolkan does not respond because he is scared and surprised at how he could kill his father so easily.
Ramsay asks the maester, "How did he die?"
Maester Wolkan said shaking, "Poisoned by his enemies."
Lord Karstark chastised the maester and said, "You're talking to your lord. Use respect."
Maester Wolkan said scared, "Forgive me, my lord."
Ramsay said, "Send for Lady Walda and the baby."
Maester Wolkan said, "But she's resting, my lord." Ramsay glares at Maester Wolkan.
Maester Wolkan says, "At once, my lord." He leaves to do his bidding even though he knows she and the baby are doomed.
Ramsay looks down at Roose's body.
