Sam heads outside before being startled by a horse carrying a wagon. He stops and sees Bran staring at him from across the courtyard. He walks over.

Sam asks, "What are you doing out here?"

Bran said, "Waiting for an old friend. It's time to tell Jon the truth." Sam shakes his head.

Sam said, "No, no. You're his brother. Shouldn't you tell him?"

Bran said, "I'm not his brother. He trusts you more than anyone. Now's the time."

—--

Jon blows out a candle and stands back to look at his father, Eddard Stark's, statue in the crypts. He sighs and hears a man grunting and a thud. He walks around the corner to see Sam stand up.

Jon said, "Sam?"

Sam said, "I'm sorry, I know I'm not supposed to be down here." Jon grabs Sam and hugs him tightly.

Jon asked, "Were you hiding from me?"

Sam said, "Of course not."

Jon asked, "What are you doing in Winterfell? Or did you read every book in the Citadel already?" He looks at Sam's face and sees he is worried.

Jon asked, "What's wrong? Gilly? Is she all right?"

Sam said, "She's good."

Jon said, "Little Sam?"

Sam said, "They are both fine."

Jon said, "I wish we could end this war ready. I really am not a king."

Sam said, "But you are. You've always been."

Jon said, "They keep proclaiming it as my crown, Sam, but it's not really. I am not a Stark." Jon starts walking away, Sam follows.

Jon said, "My full blooded stark brothers are here now.

Sam said, "I'm not talking about the King in the North. I'm talking about the King of the bloody Seven Kingdoms." Jon stops immediately, pauses and turns around.

Sam said, "Bran and I worked it out. I had a High Septon's diary. Bran had whatever Bran has."

Jon said, "What are you talking about?"

Sam said, "Your mother was Lyanna Stark." Jon exhales sharply.

Sam said, "And your father- your real father was Rhaegar Targaryen. You've never been a bastard. You're Aegon Targaryen, true heir to the Iron Throne. I'm sorry, I know it's a lot to take in." Jon walks up to Sam.

Jon said, "My father was the most honorable man I ever met. You're saying he lied to me all my life."

Sam said, "No. Your father- Well, Ned Stark. He promised your mother he'd always protect you. And he did. Robert would have murdered you if he knew. You're the true king. Aegon Targaryen, Sixth of His Name, Protector of the Realm, all of it." Jon takes a couple of steps back whilst breathing heavily.

Sam said, "It's the truth. You're the true king by birthright."

Beric and Tormund with a group of others walk into Last Hearth to find it deserted. Beric enters the building first, the others following cautiously behind. While exploring a dark hallway, a sudden noise startles the group and they press themselves against the walls, weapons drawn as the sounds turn into footfalls. Suddenly, Tormund leaps around the corner to confront the source of the noise with a roar, the rest of the group yelling in preparation to attack the enemy, but instead they find Dolorous Edd and others of the Night's Watch.

Edd said, "Stay back, he's got blue eyes!"

Tormund said, "I've always had blue eyes!" Everyone pauses and lowers their weapons with sighs of relief.

Beric said, "Did you find anyone?"

Edd leads Beric and Tormund through a large hall, faintly illuminated by Beric's ignited sword. When they reach the far wall there is a young boy impaled on the wall with several spirals of limbs surrounding him.

Edd said, "The Umber boy."

Beric said, "It's a message. From the Night King."

Tormund said, "His army's between us and Winterfell. We're on foot."

Edd said, "We rode down from Castle Black. We can double up on the horses."

Tormund said, "If the horses last, we'll get there before the dead." Umber's eyes open.

Tormund said, "We just have to hope the Night King doesn't come first..."

Umber starts shrieking, the three men start clamoring and Beric shoves his sword in the boy, both igniting him and causing him to shriek even louder. The shrieking eventually stops, but not before the entire mosaic of appendages has been engulfed by flames.

A massive army of men are marching along the long road up to Winterfell, a cloaked figure rides a horse in front of them.

—--

The cloaked man rides the horse up to the stable and dismounts as men around shout indistinctly. He removes his hood and Jamie Lannister's face is revealed. He sighs and looks around the courtyard before Bran catches his eye. Jamie stares at him in disbelief.

—--

Jamie Lannister stands in the Great Hall of Winterfell.

In Winterfell's Great Hall, there is a multitude of guards placed around the room and the many who ally with House Stark. Sitting at the head of the room is Jon in the centre of a long table; Aldarra sits on her left and Sansa on her right and Jamie is standing in the middle of the room facing Jon. On the left of the room there is a shorter table where Tyrion, Varys and Jorah sit. On the right there is another table where Davos, Lyanna, Yohn Royce, Alys Karstark and Brienne sit.

Jon said, "Your father and brother pledged to send his army north."

Jamie said, "They did."

Jon said, "I see you brought the Tyrell's army with you. Where is Dorne's army?" Tyrion looks up at his brother and Jamie looks back.

Jamie said, "I do not know. I guess they lied to me as well. I know originally they had never any intention of sending their army north." Aldarra turned her glare towards Jon. He knew what that meant by the look in her eyes.

Jamie said , "I found out that Euron Greyjoy's fleet has 20,000 fresh troops headed for Dorne. The Golden Company from Essos, bought and paid for. Even if we defeat the dead, they'll have more than enough to try to destroy the survivors."

Jon said, "Really? Well even if one dragon survives they are fucked. I know Aldarra will make sure of it." He looked at Aldarra and smirked. She smiled at him and nodded.

Jamie said, "We promised to fight for the living. I intend to keep that promise. I fight for my family, which includes my baby brother." He looked at Aldarra. Tyrion steps forwards towards Jon.

Tyrion said, "King of the North, I know my brother, he came here with what we asked for, knowing full well how he'd be received. Why would he do that if he weren't telling the truth?" Tyrion looks to Jon, Aldarra and then Sansa.

Sansa said, "We can't trust him. He attacked my father in the streets. He tried to destroy my house and my family." She was angry.

Jamie said, "Do you want me to apologize? I won't. We were at war. Everything I did, I did for my house and my family. I'd do it all again."

Bran looked at Jamie pinning him with his stare, "The things we do for love."

Sansa, Jon and Aldarra all turned slowly to look at Bran who sits to the side of Sansa. Jamie looks at him and Bran maintains eye-contact.

Jamie said, "This goes beyond loyalty." He looks around to see Brienne, then turns back.

Jamie said, "This is about survival." Tyrion turns to look at Jon. Brienne then stands up.

Brienne said, "I know you all don't know me well." She walks from behind her table to stand in the middle of the Hall beside Jamie.

Brienne said, "But I know Ser Jaime. He is a man of honor. I was his captor once. But when we were both taken prisoner and the men holding us tried to force themselves on me, Ser Jaime defended me. And lost his hand because of it." She then addresses Sansa.

Brienne said, "Without him, my lady, I would not be alive. He armed me, armored me, and sent me to find you and bring you home because he'd sworn an oath to your mother." Sansa looks down and then back up at Brienne.

Sansa asked, "You vouch for him?"

Brienne said, "I do."

Sansa asked, "You would fight beside him?"

Brienne said, "I would."

Sansa said, "I trust you with my life as an oath. If you trust him with yours, we should let him stay."

Aldarra asked looking at Jon, "What does the King of the North say about it?" He turns to Aldarra and sighs.

Jon said, "We need every man we can get." The room falls silent. Aldarra nods at him.

Tyrion exhales sharply in relief. Jorah picks up Jamies's sword, walks over to him, handing it over aggressively.

Aldarra said, "You know that sword and the one given to Joffrey was forged out of my father's family sword. Your father deliberately melted down and gave them away. He did it because he knew what it meant to me and it was his first of three strikes against me before I left, abandoning him, our marriage and King's Landing taking my friends that were loyal with me. That includes your brother?"

Jamie said, "I guess thank you, is in order then. I did not know he did that and that was one of the reasons you left. Cersei believed it was to commit treason, take control of the North for yourself, hurt my father and to undermine the crown and Joffrey's reign."

Sansa said glaring, "I'm sure you thought it was Ned Stark's sword instead that your father's used. The so-called traitor. Which is still somewhere in the Red Keep."

Jamie said, "I wasn't sure where the valyrian steel came from because he never said where it came from. I have Joffrey's sword and I gave mine to Brienne. So you know."

Aldarra said, "Then I want you both to kill as many of those monsters as you possibly can when the time comes, because I'll be burning the fuck out of the cunts from the sky to reduce count."

Jon stands up and the rest of the room does as he does. Sansa leaves the room. Jon who leaves after his sister. Aldarra, Tyrion, Varys and Jorah file out of the room. Jamie then catches Brienne's eye as she leaves and then he ends up looking at Bran again who mimics his stare.

Men chatter indistinctly as they forge the weapons. Gendry walks into frame, dumping dragonglass out of a bucket. He then walks up to the furnace and pulls out some dragonglass, molding it and then dousing it in a bucket of water. Arya walks towards him. As the steam rises from the bucket she catches his eye.

Gendry asked, "Don't you have something better to do?"

Arya asked, "You make my weapon yet?"

Gendry said, "Just as soon as I'm done making a few thousand of these." Gendry hands her a small ax with a blade made of dragonglass.

Arya said, "You should make mine first. And make sure it's stronger than this." Gendry grabs the ax and brings it down harshly on a wooden stump.

Gendry said, "It's strong enough." Gendry moves to a pile of dragonglass spearheads and checks on it, Arya follows."

Gendry said, "It's going to be safer down in the crypt, you know."

Arya asked, "Are you going to be down in the crypt?"

Gendry said, "No, but…"

Arya said, "But you're a fighter." He glances up at her.

Gendry said, "I've done my share."

Arya asked, "Have you fought them?"

Gendry said, "No. But I am going to." She walks behind him and around the other side of the table so she is facing him.

Arya said, "Even a smith's apprentice can kill if he can."

Gendry said, "Look, I know you want to fight. And I know you're not scared of rapers or murderers or… This is different. This is-this is death. Death. That's what it's going to be like." Arya picks up one of the spearheads, turning it in her hand.

Arya said, "I know Death." She throws the spearhead, narrowly missing a blacksmith's head. Gendry exhales, staring in disbelief at the dragonglass impaled on the wooden beam.

Arya said, "He's got many faces." She tosses another landing next to the first. The blacksmith quickly runs away. Gendry slowly turns back to Arya who picks up a third spearhead.

Ara said, "I look forward to seeing this one." She throws it and it lands with the first two. Gendry chuckles to himself and Arya walks back round the table and past Gendry.

Arya asked, "My weapon?"

Gendry said, "I'll get right on it."

Arya walks off as Gendry watches. He smirks to himself.
