Missed Chances and Stolen Glances

Chapter One: Eternal

Disclaimer: I don't own glee or its characters, if I did Brittana would have definitely gotten more screen time. Along with consistent character development!

Author's Note:

This story is inspired by the work of ellisbell85, the creator of the beautiful and unfinished Brittana fanfiction, "Mischances, Stances and Stolen Glances". I have followed Brittana from day one, but of course the show always left more to be desired. That is why I got my fix through reading fanfiction. One of my all-time favorites is the mentioned story by ellisbell85. Unfortunately, over a decade later and it still remains unfinished. For this reason, I am writing this story and adding my own personal touches and modifications. Even in 2024 I still go back and reread this wonderful story, but I always find doing so difficult knowing we never got closure for our favorite ladies. Therefore, I hope this story helps those who still go back from time to time looking and hoping for said closure. Feedback is welcome and appreciated, perhaps together we can give this story the ending it deserves.

Summary: This story is inspired by the work of ellisbell85, the creator of the beautiful and unfinished Brittana fanfiction, "Mischances, Stances and Stolen Glances". Santana and Brittany are happily married in New York. Santana is a successful lawyer and Brittany owns her own studio. They are expecting their first child, but an accident lands Santana in a coma. Four years later she is awake, but will things ever be the same or has she missed her chance at true love?

New York City, NY – 2020

Santana made her way up the steps to the vibrant yellow door of the all too familiar brownstone. The yellow door, of course, being the touch of the even more vibrant blonde held within the home. As she entered the foyer, she instinctively dropped her keys into a handmade rainbow painted clay bowl engraved with "SLP + BLP" encased in a heart—just another touch of a certain long-legged blonde.

"Baby, I'm home" she called out while taking in the 9-foot ceilings, with an elegant chandelier hanging down center. Three years and she still can't believe she is able to call this place home. She lightly grazes her finger over their wedding photo as she passes it, making her way further into the home. But not before placing her leather jacket on the designated coat rack.

"In the kitchen babe," calls out a melodic voice from further within the space.

Santana made her way down a spacious hallway, lined with various pictures, full of smiling faces. Her heels clicking on the cinnamon maple wood floors as she made her way closer to her intended destination.

"There she is," she said as she snuck her hands around the blonde standing at the kitchen's marble waterfall island, cutting up vegetables.

"Hi beautiful, we missed you today," said Brittany as a grin overtook her face. She placed the knife down and turned into the arms of the brunette, "How was your day? You're home early." Noted Brittany taking a peek at the large clock mounted above the archway.

"Hectic, who knew a pandemic could be so booming for business? I guess being confined in a home together doesn't make for the best marriage building exercise. The firm picked up three new clients today, all of their spouses have already filed for divorce." Informed Santana as she ran her hands through long blonde waves.

"Awe, I don't know how you do it San. Breaks my heart to think of love not lasting," Brittany replied, frowning. "Wait, if it was so hectic, why are you home early," asked the blonde, double-checking the clock, just in case she mixed up the hands. It wouldn't be the first time. The big and small hand can be so confusing, she thought to herself.

"It definitely isn't easy work, but it's rewarding. I'll never understand giving up on a marriage, that's why I help my clients clean out pockets and leaving early is the benefit of being the boss, baby," said the brunette lawyer with a wink. "Now what's cooking good looking?" Asked Santana with a cheeky grin, moving the blonde away from the cutting board to take over salad duty, but not before placing a peck on smiling lips.

"Tomato cucumber salad, with homemade dressing and avocados. The chicken is finishing in the oven" informed the blonde as she switched places with the brunette, wrapping her long arms around a curvy waste. Her small baby bump pressing against Santana's back.

"Sounds delicious, babe. Why don't you let me take over so you can get off your feet, you're carrying special cargo, and I don't want you overdoing it." Santana sweetly requested while turning and ushering the blonde to a cushioned armchair at the large breakfast nook on the other side of the island.

"Pregnancy doesn't make me incapable of cooking our dinner San, plus I feel super energized after dance class today!" the blonde chastised, although sitting did sound enticing. She's enjoyed how much her wife has taken care of her and their baby throughout her pregnancy so far. Santana has always had a soft spot for her and an overwhelming need to shelter the younger blonde, which has only grown since the two pink lines stared back at them four months ago.

"I know, B; but I'm sure you've been on your feet all day teaching your little nuggets routine after routine at your studio. No need to push it, that's what you have me for, now sit sit!" Santana lightly demanded while bending down to place a kiss on the forehead of the now seated blonde, wiping the small bit of red lipstick left behind. "I will take the chicken out of the oven, while you relax and keep cooking the bun in yours." Joked Santana as she twirled away from the blonde with a wink and a smile.

Yes, Sanatana Lopez-Pierce just did a twirl. Toto, we're not in Lima anymore.

Brittany could only shake her head and laugh at the dork that is her other half. "Yes ma'am," said the blonde with a little shake of her head and salute. "I love you so much San." Declared the blonde with slightly teary eyes. Ugh. Pregnancy hormones, she thought with an internal eyeroll.

"Awe, I love you too, B," echoed Santana, a light blush appearing on tan cheeks. "More than I've ever loved anything in my entire life," she declared with conviction.

Both met each other's eyes across the island, with matching smiles and wet eyes. Nothing could come between their love. This was eternal.

Thanks for reading. I want to update this story every day, if not, every other day, I definitely have more material ready to go, but first I wanted to gage the community's interest and reaction to my story and the idea of me rewriting such a popular and loved story within the Brittana fandom. Again, reviews are welcome and much appreciated! Happy Monday!
