The story of Mortal Kombat, is there are 6 realms called "Earthrealm, Netherrealm, Outworld, Chaosrealm, Orderrealm and Edenia". The tournament was made by the Elder Gods, and every new generation, each realm must prepare themselves a champion to fight, to give their realms peace, with no war!
Unfortunately out of these 6 realms, Outworld and Netherealm always thinking about capturing and dominating all realms for themselves, which lead them to always failure and defeat. one of the Elder Gods named "Shinnok" wanted to do the same thing, talking and ruling the world for himself! But Raiden the God of Thunder and Fujin his brother the God of Wind, stopped him and put him into an eternal prison, wrapped by the chains. His sideback Quan Chi the king of hell in Netherealm, a strong Sorcerer always planning to save his master, Shinnok!
In the Mortal Kombat tournament, Liu Kang, the champion of Earthrealm defeats Shao Kahn the king of Outworld, and Shinnok to bring peace in realms! After than, Quan Chi teams up with Outworlds Sorcerer, Shang Tsung! An unloyal Sorcerer who cannot be trusted, a snake who's always caring about himself! They both killed Liu Kang, and other champions from other realms, Raiden was no match to them anymore! That moment, a boy named Shujinko was tricked by a fake God named "Damashi" to get every realms keys to bring peace! He had a long adventure till his old age, he collected all the keys, until he realized that God... was Onaga, The Dragon King who's also wanting to do the same thing Shinnok wanted to do!
Luckily, the day of Armageddon came, the final fight, and final tournament of Mortal Kombat. All fighters had to walk up a mountain while fighting, to get to a powerful fighter from Elder Gods named "Blaze". Whoever defeats it, will receive a poeer to destroy everything and everyone! Shao Kahn managed to defeat Blaze, and killed every single fighter in every realm! Raiden had no choice, but sending a message to his past! Warning him "He must win!" Which leads to reset the timeline.
Raiden tried so hard to don't make the same timeline, which leaded to lose everyone including Liu Kang... Kronika the keeper of time, and the mother of Shinnok reset everything again after losing her son! Raiden cures the dead Liu Kang who's soul turned into evil by Quan Chi, and gave all of his power to him, and turned Liu Kang to "God of Fire, and Thunder". Liu Kang defeats Kronika and uses her power to reset the timeline to normal, but this time with peace!
