Evening August 21, 2009 cont.
Remus brings Caroline a drink while she absorbed everything they had told her. Finally snapping back to herself she looks at Iris, "So you three aren't even from this universe" she asks.
Smiling, Iris replies "From what we can tell, the veil we all fell through is like a portal. No one knows where it goes to or what happens when you go through. Also we have two more to our group. One was our happy little stow away but I'm really happy he was"
"I'm going to call for him so don't freak out at his appearance, he's a little different than us" Sirius explains, "Dobby"
'POP' standing in front of Caroline is a four foot tall creature with huge eyes and bat like ears. "Wow" was all she could mutter.
"Dobby has been waiting so long to meet Missy Iris's friend, yes he has" Dobby tells her excitedly.
Iris stands, "Let me grab our last member" she says as she disappears up the stairs. Coming back, Hedwig is perched on her arm. "Meet Hedwig"
"She's beautiful" Caroline exclaims, "Can I pet her" Hedwig looks at her for a moment, then hops from Iris to Caroline. Of course she's loving all the pets.
"So Hedwig is your pet" Caroline asks, looking to Iris who nods, "Then what exactly is Dobby"
"Dobby is called a house elf, he was a servant for a really bad man but I was able to free him. He's been my friend ever since" Iris tells her.
Caroline looks at the three magical people, "I understand the need for secrecy and I promise that I will never say a word to anyone"
Iris smiles at her, "I knew you wouldn't, that's why I wanted to tell you. I trust you but with everything going on in this town we need to be alert"
Sirius and Remus look at both girls, "We actually have an idea for that" Remus grabs a box off of the table, "These are normal looking charm bracelets, only there is a special charm that has vervain in it. Vampires don't like it and can't compel you if you are wearing it. You can also drink the vervain and then a vampire can't feed from you. Make sure you put the bracelet somewhere that isn't easily seen. It wouldn't work if the vampire can take it off" Remus tells them.
Sirius hands a bracelet to Iris, Iris looks to Care so she can put it on her, "We learned that I can't be compelled. I ran into Damon at the bonfire, I didn't think anything of it until he tried to compel me to forget I had seen him." Iris paused and then told Care, "When he dropped you off at practice I knew then that I had messed up by not making you leave with me that night. I was determined to make sure I had a way to protect you from him after that"
Care starts freaking out, "What should I do if he shows up again? He knows where I live! Oh my god he was in my house"
Remus slid to his knees in front of her at this point, "We can set wards that make it so he can't come in your house. We will help you any way we can" he tells her calmly.
"Well of course we will, we can't have pups best friend become some jerks late night snack" Sirius jokes.
Everyone but Care glares at him. He gets a laugh out of her. Dobby walks into the room with hot chocolate.
"Don't encourage him, it will only get worse" Remus mutters.

The girls are in Iris's bedroom watching tv. Iris is almost asleep when she hears Care whisper, "Thank you Iris. I don't know what would have happened to me if you weren't my friend"
Iris rolled over towards Care, "You are the first person who wanted to be my friend and not because I was famous. I would do anything to make sure you're safe. I do have a saving people thing that hasn't went completely away" she quips.
Care laughs at that.

Waking up the next day the girls are watching the sheriff on the news. They said that Mr. Tanner was attacked by a mountain lion but it had been killed by a hunter. Both knew that was a lie and more people would get hurt.
Deciding that they needed to set up the wards at Carolines before her mom got back, they hurry and eat breakfast. Iris follows with Siri and Remy following her. It didn't take them long to get the wards set so the men told them goodbye and headed off.
It couldn't have been more than an hour when there's a knock on the door. Care walks out of her room and pauses in the hallway. Iris is following behind her and see what has stopped her in her tracks. Damon is standing on the porch looking confused as to why he can't enter the house.
Iris calms Care down enough for her to send a text to Remus that the wards worked and they have a visitor. The sound of apparition alerts Iris to the two behind her. Care jumps at the sound and sees Sirius and Remus walk out of the living room. Damon is surprised to see the men.
Remus walks forward and opens the door, "Can I help you" he asks.
Damon gets cocky and tries to compel him, "You can let me through" thinking it worked he tries walking forward. He hits the ward and receives a shock for his efforts.
Sirius walks forward and stands next to Remus. "I suggest you leave before things get messy. I would hate to have to tell the sheriff you're bothering her seventeen year old daughter."
Damon looks both men over, then does a double take on Iris. Realizing where he seen her before, "Well lookey there, seems I didn't do a good enough job at the bonfire"
Iris smirks at him, "Sorry buddy, I don't think things are going to go the way you think they are. Also stay away from Caroline, I would hate for you to run into a pointy stick" Caroline chuckles at this and Damon looks like he swallowed something sour.
"Be sure not to come near these girls if you know what's good for you" Remus growls at him. He must have seen something in Remus that he knew not to mess with.
Damon leaves after looking Remus over one more time. It was almost like he could sense the predator that was hiding behind the man.

Iris and Caroline decide to head to the grill to grab lunch. Walking in they see Siri and Remy in a booth, Iris heads over towards them. When the girls get seated and order, Caroline tells them that they should come to the founders party.
"I mean if you can't make this one there will be a hundred more this year" Caroline jokes.
"Maybe it would be a good way to keep an eye on the going ons in the town" Iris tells them. The men nod at her reply.
Caroline notices the mayor and his wife sitting in another booth, she grabs Iris's arm and tells them she's going to get them an official invite. Iris looks terrified as Caroline drags her over to meet the mayor.
"Mayor Lockwood, Mrs. Lockwood meet my friend Iris Black. She just moved here from London with her uncles." Caroline introduces her. They chat for a while when Mrs. Lockwood tells Iris she should bring her uncles to the party they are hosting. Iris agrees and they go back to their table.
Iris notices Elena and Bonnie walk in, she points them out to Caroline. Care tells her she will be right back and goes over to talk to them. Iris can tell the conversation isn't going well because Care comes back over looking upset.
"I guess Damon told Stefan I was bringing him to the party with me. That must have been why he was at the house today. When I told them I wasn't they didn't seem to believe me" Care tells them.
Iris looks at the girls then back at Care, "Well we will go with you. Now that we have a personal invite from the mayor we can all just go together. Better to stick in a group anyways."
Iris could tell that Caroline was still upset at how her friends had treated her. Iris wondered if they would have noticed anything was off if she hadn't been saved from Damon.
