The couple gets dressed in regular clothes, Nero goes into the kitchen to get himself something to eat, and decides to get Gemma something as well, meanwhile Gemma's in the bed reading a book when she starts to feel funny, her vision is blurry, hearts racing and she's dizzy her book drops to the floor, she gets up from the bed takes a few steps as everything goes to black.

Chapter 12: Wedding Night Tragedy

Padilla Residence: August 18th 7pm

Nero returns to the bedroom with their food "Gemma?!" He yells out, she doesn't answer he walks around to the other side of the bed, he yells "Mama!" the food drops on the floor as he bends down to her side he checks her pulse, it's there, but faint "Gemma!" He calls to her with a scared tone in his voice, shaking her gently "¡Levantate bebe!" Nero quickly grabbed Gemma running her out the door putting her into his car and ran back into the house to grab her purse and ran out locking the door behind him getting into his car shutting the door racing off the hospital.

St. Thomas Hospital: 7:10pm

He arrived at St. Thomas within five minutes, he quickly got out of the car opening up the passenger door, he picks up his wife rushing her into the hospital "I need help over here!" Nero yelled as Trisha runs over to them "What happened?" She asked concerned seeing Gemma unconscious "My wife, she's pregnant she collapsed!" Nero says panicked as Melissa quickly grabbed a gurney asking Nero to put Gemma down on it "Put her down here" Nero gently places her on the bed, the doctors rush Gemma to the trauma room, Dr. Campbell puts an I.V into Gemma's hand and a pulse ox finger probe on her left index finger and puts a hospital bracelet on her wrist then checks her pupils by shinning her pen light into Gemma's eyes "pupils are equal, round and reactive to light" Nero started running to get to his wife, but Melissa stopped him from coming into the room "Sir, you'll have to wait out here"

Nero watched nervously and anxiously from outside as the doctors worked giving out orders, checking her pulse ox, Dr. Jamie Booker yells out " Pulse ox is down to 78, I need a 7.5 tube, we have to intubate her; she's not breathing!" then adding "give me 15 of etomidate 100 of succinylcholine" Dr. Paula Campbell shouts out as Dr. Samantha Booker gives Gemma the paralyzing medication then hands Paula the laryngoscope, she puts the scope inside Gemma's mouth looking into her throat, after a few seconds she sees the what she needs "I see the cords, tube" Dr. Booker hands Dr. Campbell the tube the doctor puts the tube down her throat hooking it up to the ventilator, she takes her stethoscope from around her neck checking to see if Gemma's breathing "Okay she's breathing now, pulse ox is up to 95" then adds orders "Let's re check her BP and heart rate again" the nurse checks her blood pressure "pressure's still high at 200/160" The doctor replies "Okay let's give her 10 of hydralazine" Dr. Booker checks her heart rate "Heart rate is still erratic" Dr. Campbell "We have to get that down" The doctors give Gemma some medicine to try and get her heart rate back to normal, when Dr. Campbell checks Gemma's heart rate again after a few minutes the medicine worked, she announces "Her heart rate is normal now, 120 and let's check a urine blood test to see if there's protein in her urine" the nurse nods drawing the blood within a few minutes the tests comes back. "It's positive" she says simply. Dr. Shyer nodded.

The doctors re check her blood pressure again now that the medicine is on board "pressure hasn't changed, she's not responding to it" Dr. Booker announces. Dr. Shyer arrives in the room " You paged me?" What happened?" She asks approaching Drs. Campbell and Jamie Booker "She collapsed at home, her husband brought her in, her blood pressure and heart rate were in trouble, but her heart rate is okay now since we gave her medication, but her blood pressure still isn't stabilizing, it's still high 200/160 and she's got protein in her urine" Dr. Booker adds "Also wasn't breathing when she was brought in so we had to intubate" Dr. Shyer barks "Okay get me the ultrasound machine I want to check on the baby" nurse Kelly wheels in the machine, Dr. Shyer squirts gel onto Gemma's stomach grabbing the doppler moving it around a few moments later she spots the baby she presses a few buttons on the machine "The baby looks fine" she announces putting the doppler back into it's cradle "I also want to check her heart rate" Melissa arrives with the fetal monitor Dr. Shyer straps the monitor onto Gemma's belly seconds later she hears a thumping noise from the monitor, glancing at the numbers on the screen announcing "the baby's heart rate is great at 140"

Dr. Shyer walked out of the room looking at them clearing her throat she starts speaking "Hey Nero let's go sit down and I'll update you on Gemma's condition and what's going on" She guided them to some chairs they all three sit in the chairs "How's my wife?" Nero asked tearfully. Dr. Shyer carefully thinks of how to tell Nero what's going on, but knows the truth is best "Nero she's in serious condition, her collapse was caused by her blood pressure being high and an arrhythmia – a fast heart beat, it's unrelated her heart condition we believe she's developed pre-eclampsia which is high blood pressure in pregnancy, a blood test also confirmed protein in her urine which is another symptom of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia we are trying to get her pressure down with medication, but so far it hasn't worked, her blood pressure is still very high if we can't control it, meaning if it gets any higher she could go into eclampsia and start having seizures, also she could end up in a coma or we could lose both her and the baby, we aren't there yet, but we are going to do everything we can to try and help her" Nero looks at the doctor as he rubs his eyes "Is our baby okay?" Dr. Shyer smiles slightly "She's fine as of right now heart rate and everything else looks great, adding sadly "it's Gemma we have to worry about"

Nero breaks down "I'm so sorry" Dr. Shyer replies solemnly putting her hand on his shoulder "Can I see her?" He asks shakily wiping his eyes "Sure, this way" They stand up Dr. Shyer leads Nero outside the trauma room before they go in the doctor prepares him for what he's going to see "Since she wasn't breathing on her own so we had to intubate her, so she's on a ventilator to help her breathe, she's got an I.V. in her to give her medicine, also we have her hooked up to a fetal monitor to keep an eye on the baby and a heart monitor because of her condition, also she's still unconscious" Nero asks "When will she wake up?" Dr. Shyer replies truthfully "We don't know" adding "She might be with us for a while" Nero looks at the doctor as he solemnly walks into the room, all he can hear is the monitors beeping they are keeping his wife and his unborn baby girl alive. Dr. Shyer follows him into the room she grabs a chair for him to sit down "Here's a chair to sit down, talk to her she can hear you" Allison says as Nero sits down, he takes Gemma's hand into his careful of the I.V. that's in her arm while Dr. Shyer looks on hoping for Nero's sake that Gemma makes it through this.

After a few moments Dr. Shyer left the room to check on a few of her other patients.

Back in the trauma room, Nero is still holding Gemma's hand while quietly talking to her "Baby, I need to you to wake up, Mama, please don't leave me, I need you, Lucius needs you too" Just then one of the trauma doors whooshes open, Dr. Shyer comes back in she walks over to Nero putting her hand on his shoulder "Nero, we have a private room ready for Gemma now, we're going to have to move her because there's a trauma coming in and we need this room for that" Nero sniffles nodding in understanding, he gets up from the chair while the doctor unplugs Gemma from the vent then hooks the ambu bag to the tube squeezing the bag every 3 seconds within a few minutes they reach the room which is room 23, the doctors unhook the ambu bag from the tube then put Gemma back onto the ventilator. They leave the room giving Nero some privacy, he grabbed a chair putting it beside Gemma's bed, he kisses on her on forehead, then sits down in the chair holding her hand once again.

After a few moments he stood up leaning down to Gemma

"I'm gonna call Jax, I'll be right back, Mama" he kisses her hand.

Pulling out his phone he dialed Jax waiting for him to pick up, after a few rings he does

"Hello?" he said

"Hey Jax, it's Nero" he said trying to keep his composer

"Hey, what's going on?" he asked

"Your mother is uh in the hospital, Mano" he said in an emotional tone

"What?!" he said in a shocked tone

"Yeah, she's having complication in her pregnancy, I need you to come to Saint Thomas now" he explained

"Yeah, yeah, I'll be right there" he hung out the phone "Shit!"

After hanging up with Nero Jax called Wendy telling her what's going on and told her to stay with Abel that he was going to the hospital.

"Baby, are you sure you won't want me to come with you" Wendy asked, starting to get emotional

"Yeah, I'm sure just stay with the baby please" he said reassured her

"Okay, I love you" she said, sniffling

"Love you, too, babe" he said, hanging up flipping his phone down.

9pm

Nero rises from his chair, he's so tired, but he doesn't care he doesn't want to leave Gemma, he looks at the younger man who arrived at the hospital within 10 minutes "Jax, it's okay you can sit down" Nero gets pulling another chair to Gemma's bedside he walks over to Jax guiding him to the chair he flops down in the chair, he turned to look at Nero unsure of what to do, Nero nodded "talk to her she can hear you" He fidgeted with his fingers nervously leaning forward taking his mother's hand "Hey Mom, I love you, I need you to get better..to wake up" Jax again looks at Nero "Hey man, I'll keep an eye on her, you've been in here for hours, why don't you go get some air?" He shakes his head waving it off "Nah, Mano, I'm alright, I wanna stay with her" Jax knows he's not, he can see it in his face "No you're not, go on..I promise I'll come get you if anything changes" Nero yawns "Okay, okay" putting his hands up he's not in the mood to argue right now especially not with Jax, getting up from his chair, he kisses her on her forehead whispering "Mama, I'll be right back okay, I love you" He looked at her one last time before leaving the room, walking down the long hallway he ends up staring at the bathroom door, opening the door, he goes in, he can't hold in his emotions anymore, he slides down the back of the door crying for what seems like hours, but in reality it's only minutes after a few moments he composes himself just a bit, the stress he's feeling isn't helping his stomach any seconds later he runs into the stall making it just in time to throw up, breathing heavily he waits for a few seconds to see if his stomach is calm again when he's sure it is, he flushes the toilet, opening the door to the stall he walks out of it and over to the sink to washing his hands, then splash some cold water on his face, he grabs a paper towel to wipe his face and hands dry, he takes one last look in the mirror at himself before leaving.

Nero continues walking around the hospital everything's a blur for him right now, all he wants is his wife he can't believe this is happening to them; they were so happy, he finds a bench to sit down on, his hands are shaking with nervousness taking a deep breath he sat there for what seemed like hours alone with his thoughts.

9:30pm

After a few more moments Nero got up from the bench walking away to have some privacy once alone he pulls out his phone from his pocket dialing Kayla's number after a few rings she answers "Hello?" Nero composes himself "Kayla, it's me Nero" Kayla replies "Hey, what's up?" Nero sits down in the chair he decides to tell her right away "Gemma's in the hospital" there's a long pause "Is she gonna be alright?" Nero replies "I don't know, she unconscious and on a ventilator right now, they say she's got pre-eclampsia, high blood pressure in pregnancy" Kayla sighs heavily "Oh god" Nero clears his throat "Look, Kayla I need.." Kayla cuts in "Nero, I'll keep Lucius for you, don't worry" Nero replies numbly "Thanks" Kayla replies "You're welcome" He changes the subject "How is Lucius, is he okay?" Kayla sits down on her couch "He's fine, I gave him some dinner, now he's asleep" Nero smiles breathing a sigh a relief "Good, I'm glad please don't tell him about Gemma okay I wanna tell him myself" Kayla replies understanding "Sure, no problem, are you going to come by in the morning?" Nero replies emotionally "Yeah, I'll be there, I've gotta get back to Gemma thank you again so much for taking care of Lucius" Kayla replies "Sure, I'll see you in the morning...bye" Nero replies "Okay see ya" he hangs up his phone rubbing his eyes with his fingers.

Moments later Nero arrived back into Gemma's room, he put his hand on his shoulder, he gasped at the touch "Sorry, man I'm fallin' asleep" he rubbed his eyes tiredly he gets up from the chair he was sitting in as Nero takes the empty seat that he had and he sat down just staring at his wanting her to wake up so badly, Jax looked at them for another second then leaves the hospital going back home to Wendy and his son.

9:50pm

In Gemma's hospital room, Nero is trying not to fall asleep a tap on his shoulder startles him "Sir, visiting hours are over in a few minutes" Trisha the nurse whispers to him, he nods understanding she leaves as he rises from the chair walking over to Gemma taking her hand rubbing it gently, she squeezes his hand, bending over he gives her kiss on her forehead whispering "Baby, I'll see you tomorrow, okay I've gotta go home, I love you" He gently put his hand on her stomach, she moves for him that makes him smile for the first time in a while, he stands for there for a few minutes then walks out heading for home.

Padilla Residence: 10pm

Nero arrived home a few minutes later, he goes into their bedroom looking around everything reminds him of Gemma he walks over to the bed, sits down on the edge to take off his shoes then lays down he turns on his side with tears in his eyes, looking over to Gemma's side of the bed he grabs her pillow hugging it close to him, he put the pillow to his nose inhaling the scent – her scent he breaks down all over again, after a few minutes he stops crying, but is sniffling still holding onto the pillow after tossing and turning for most of the night finally he falls asleep around 3am Gemma's pillow comforting him.

August 19th:8am

The next morning, Nero is still asleep he awakes gasping, sweating "Gemma..." he says smiling as his hands roam over to Gemma's side of the bed feeling for her, it's empty and cold, he had been dreaming about her, their wedding, their love making...just everything, God he misses her. He slowly opens his eyes staring at the ceiling not wanting to move, wanting to stay in their bed all day thinking about her. Finally though he talks himself out of the bed he walks out of the bedroom numbly into the kitchen, he grabs a coffee cup from the cupboard, puts the cup under the machine then turns it on while waiting for the coffee the phone rings "Hello?" he answers "Hey Nero, it's Kayla do you still want me to keep Lucius longer today?" Nero sighs "Yeah, if you still can I'd appreciate it because I'm gonna go up to the hospital again soon, but I'll still come over to your place to tell Lucius about Gemma" Nero replies as he gets his coffee from the machine putting in the cream and sugar, then taking a small sip while Kayla goes to wake up Lucius "Hey, buddy time to get up" Nero can hear Lucius over the phone "Okay I'm up" He says "Hey your dad's on the phone, want to talk with him?" He nods, Kayla hands him the phone, he puts it to his ear "Hey, Papi!" he exclaims happily "Hey Mijo, are you having fun with Kayla?" Lucius replies "Yeah, are you coming to get me now?" Nero clears his throat "No, not right now, but I've gotta tell you something so I'm going to come by Kayla's in a few minutes okay" Lucius sadly replies "Okay, dad, see you, I love you" Nero's on the verge of tears, but composes himself to get out "I love you too, Mijo" Lucius gives the phone back to Kayla "Hey, Nero it's Kayla again, I'll see you in a few then" Nero replies back "Okay" Nero hangs up putting the phone on the table.

As Nero sips his coffee alone his mind started to run away with him

Flashback:

"I'm pregnant, Nero"

Nero chuckles as remembers then he starts to cry, after a few moments he bows his head to pray...

"God, please don't let her and our baby die..I want her here with me, please just let us be happy, don't take her back with you yet, I love her too much and I can't live without her, keep her safe and heal her, Amen"

Taking a couple deep breaths, Nero feels a little better, after breakfast he goes to their bedroom to put on some clothes, he's now dressed, puts on his shoes, then grabs his keys and walks out the door. Within a few minutes he arrives at Kayla's house, he walks up to her door and knocks inside Kayla is making Lucius some breakfast "I'll get it, it's probably your dad" Kayla goes over to the door opening it "Hey Nero" She steps aside letting him in "Hey, he's in the kitchen" Nero smiles at him, bending down to his level "Hey Mijo" Lucius smiles "Hi, Papi!" Nero kisses him on his cheek, he sits down at the table trying to figure out how to tell Lucius about Gemma, but at the same he doesn't want to scare him "Lucius..." He starts as his son looks at him giving his father is full attention "There's something I have to tell you, it's about Gemma she's in the hospital she's not feeling well right now" Lucius stops eating looking down at the floor sad, he looks up at his father "Is she going be okay?" Nero replies truthfully "I hope so, but I don't know" Lucius asks "How is my baby sister?" Nero smiles "She's fine right now" Lucius smiles at that news "Yay!" He exclaims as he takes a sip of his milk "Can I go see Gemma with you, dad?" Nero shakes his head "Not right now, Mijo, but I promise later on okay" Lucius nods in understanding "Tell her I love her and give my sister a kiss okay" Nero gets up from the chair "You be good for Kayla and I'll be back later on to take you home" He kisses him on his forehead, he walks to the door "Thanks again for doing this" Kayla gives him a hug "No problem, keep me posted on Gemma's condition" Nero nods "I will, see ya later" he leaves to head over to the hospital.

10am

Just then Nero arrived back at the hospital, he walks in taking the elevator up to her room, he peers through the small window as he opens the door, there's a nurse checking her vitals "How is she doing?" The nurse looks at him sadly "She's still the same, if you have any questions just let us know" Nero nods "Thanks" Nero bends down kissing Gemma on her forehead "Hey, Mama" he greets her taking her hand into his "I love you so much" Just then the monitors starts going off, Nero runs out of the room screaming "I need some help in here!" Dr. Shyer and the other doctors come running into the room "No, Mama!" He screams in terror all the sudden Gemma starts convulsing "She's seizing, let's give her 4 migs of ativan, stabilize the tube" Dr. Shyer orders, the nurse nods, giving the medication in the I.V. while unhooking Gemma from her vent "ativan's given" the nurse confirms "Let's check her BP again!" Dr. Booker barks at another nurse the nurse puts the BP cuff onto Gemma's arm she squeezes the bulb waiting for a reading "it's "200/160" Dr. Campbell looks at the nurse saying "Okay, let's go with 6 migs of Labetalol, stat"

Once the seizure medication is given, Gemma has stopped convulsing, they put her back on the vent, but her blood pressure still isn't stabilizing and she's got more protein in her urine "She's now in eclampsia" Dr. Booker announces, Dr. Shyer looks over at Nero who has his hands over his face shocked she walks over to him guiding him out of the room "Come with me, I need to talk to you" She sits him down in the chair outside Gemma's room "Nero, I'm sorry, but Gemma..she's in eclampsia which is why she's seizing the vessels go into spasms causing lack of oxygen and that's causing the seizures, we've given her some medication to try and stop the seizures, but so far it's not working and her blood pressure has gone way up, we're gonna try another medication to see if we can get her BP down again and hopefully it'll work and another blood test showed there's a bit more protein in her urine than earlier, but there's really nothing we can do about that, but watch it and see how she does" She puts her arm around him "I have to go back in the room now, I'll come and get you when she's stable okay" Nero looks at her he just nods his head, she gets up and goes back into the room.

After a few tense moments, the Labetalol finally works when the nurse does another BP check "BP is down 100/70" The doctors breath a sigh of relief, but they know Gemma's not out of the words yet because her eclampsia could come back "She's stabilized, I'm gonna get Nero back in here" The doctors nod, Dr Shyer returns outside to Nero " Good news is she's stable, we've got her seizures stopped and she's on an oxygen mask for now, but at the moment she's in a postictal state which is common after seizures, but obviously still unconscious, her BP is down..for now, do you want go back in?" Nero nods getting up and walking back into the room all he can hear again is the monitors beeping keeping them both alive, everyone leaves again Nero kisses Gemma on her hand "Gem, you made it through this for now, I'm so proud of you for being so strong, I miss you so much, baby I can't wait until you come home with me again" Nero goes silent for a few seconds "You know I was dreaming about you...and us last night, I actually slept with your pillow" taking a shaky breath he continues "Mama, I wish you'd wake up so I can talk to you, I can't stand seeing you like this, it's tearing me apart"

Just then the door opens again, revealing Wendy "Hey, how is she doing?" She grabbed an empty setting it next to Nero "She's not good, pregnancy complications eclampsia" Wendy exclaims "Shit" Nero agrees "Yeah I know, but they'll got her stable for now, but I don't think we're out of the woods yet" Wendy asked "She in a coma?" Nero shook his head "Nah, she can hear me because she's squeezed my hand a few times" Wendy replied "Good that's at least some good news" Nero smiled "Yeah it is" An awkward silence befalls them as they both sit there staring at Gemma hoping she'll wake up soon.

A Few Weeks Later: September 12thSt. Thomas Hospital

11am- Gemma's Room

It's been a month since Gemma was admitted to the hospital for her eclampsia, she's still unconscious and the seizures flared up again last week, but was again stabilized luckily Gemma didn't go into a coma. She's now 6 months pregnant, the baby is still okay even though Gemma is not. Nero is sitting in the chair beside his wife watching her "Baby, please wake up for me, I need you back so much" Just then Gemma slowly opens her eyes, looking around startled "Mama!" Nero cries tears of joy "You're awake!" Nero runs out to get the doctor, Dr. Shyer returns to the room "Gemma, can you hear me?" Gemma nods pointing to the tube "Yeah we're going to take that out now since your breathing on your own" Dr. Shyer unplugs the vent "Gemma, I want you to take a deep breath and as I pull out the tube and blow out okay" Gemma nods in understanding she holds out her hand, Nero grabs onto it, he squeezes it giving her support. "1,2,3...blow out" Dr. Shyer pulls out the tube, Gemma coughs hard holding her throat "my throat hurts" She says hoarsely. Dr. Shyer replies "Yeah it's going to for a while because you've had the tube in so long, here's some ice chips" She says handing her the cup she takes a chip out of the cup and sucks on it "What happened?", why am I here?" Gemma asks confused "You collapsed a few weeks ago you developed high blood pressure because of your pregnancy first you had pre-eclampsia then developed eclampsia and seizures a few weeks later, but we finally were able to get it under control at least for now with medications" Gemma takes all this in "Oh my god!" With that the nurse places her back on the nasal cannula.

Gemma yawns "I'm so tired...is my baby okay?" Dr. Shyer smiles "Yes, she's been fine it's you I was worried about for a while there, but you're okay now, but you do have protein in your urine and we are going to have to watch on that very carefully" Nero sits down on the bed beside her "Hey baby" Nero smiles "Hey, you don't how much I've missed you" He kisses her the lips "I missed those lips" Gemma chuckles "I missed you too" Dr, Shyer clears her throat getting the couples attention "Gemma, you probably can go home within in the next few days as long as your blood pressure doesn't go up again or you don't go into seizures, when you do go home I don't want you on your feet for more than 2 hours a day" Gemma sighs leaning back onto the pillow disappointingly "So in other words you want to put me on bed rest?" She questions, Dr. Shyer pats her knee "I'm sorry..but if you don't want your baby to come early you have to" Gemma groans "For how long? and what about work?" Dr. Shyer responds "Probably for the rest of your pregnancy; as for work If you can work without being on your feet all day, go for it" She smiles "Thanks, doc" Allison smiles "I'm glad your wake and okay now" Just then the doctors pager goes off "Well I've gotta go, let me know if you guys need anything" She leaves the room letting the couple have some privacy.

Gemma moves over so Nero can lay in the bed with her, he puts his arms around her as she lays down on the pillow, Nero is flipping through the TV channels trying to find something to watch, looking over at Gemma he notices she's fallen asleep, he caresses her face with his fingers within a few seconds he's asleep himself his head and hand on her stomach.

2pm

Three days later, Gemma is finally released from the hospital, albeit the strict rules to stay off her feet for the rest of her pregnancy which she hates, but she's so glad to be home because all she wants to sleep in her own bed with her husband, Nero helps her inside where Lucius and Kayla happy to see her again, they give her hug and kiss, Lucius puts his hand on her belly, Gemma smiles as Nero takes her her purse and keys placing them in their bedroom on the dresser, now home she decides to get dressed in something more comfortable, she picks some jeans and a t-shirt as Nero wraps his arms around her holding her "It feels so good having you in my arms again" He comments as he kisses her neck traveling down to her collarbone, she moans as he picks up laying her on the bed gently "mmm, this is what I've missed" She comments seductively as he gets on top of her kissing her again, but she stops him "You know we can't do anything, not that I don't want to it's just we aren't alone" Nero remembers "I know" He looks at her disappointed "Don't worry baby, we'll make time" She pats his chest, he rolls off of her. She reaches for sewing basket, puts on her glasses and restarts on the booties she was making for the baby, Nero just stares at her, she glances over at him noticing "What?" He shrugs his shoulders "Nothing, Mama I'm just so glad your home it really scared me seeing you like that" Gemma stops what she's doing "Come here" She whispers "I'm home now okay" He kisses her passionately slipping his tongue into her mouth, she moans softly as he moves on top her still kissing her as she slide down onto the bed, before anything more than happen she pulls away just holding him in her arms comforting him "I love you" She whispers as they both exhausted mentally and drained physically from the last few weeks fall sleep in each others arms.

Two hours later, Gemma slowly awakens from her nap, opening her eyes, she looks down noticing Nero is still asleep on her chest, smiling at the sight she's careful not to wake him gently pushing him off of her this action wakes him up "Where you going, Mama?" He asks sleepily "the bathroom, I gotta pee" She says as he walks around to other side of bed helping her up "Thanks, babe" She holds her back waddling her way to the bathroom once there she shuts the door behind her, back in the bedroom Nero is now awake sitting up against his pillow seconds later, Gemma returns to room crawling into the bed covering herself with the covers, looking at Nero, she announces "Babe, I want a baby shower" Nero smiles "Okay, when?" Gemma goes silent for a few minutes to think "Maybe in the next few days...on the 21st at 2pm?" Nero nods "That's fine, but remember you have to take it easy you know" Gemma kisses him whispering "I know" She straddles him slowly unbuttoning his shirt as Nero does the same to hers both of their shirts come off, Gemma's still in her bra, Nero reaches around her unclipping it, it lands on the floor "Nero..." She walks over to the toilet sitting down and immediately pees after 5 minutes she gets up grabbing some toilet paper wiping herself throwing the paper into the toilet.

"Baby?" she calls out to him

"Yeah?" he answers back

"Can you help me?" she asks, flushing the toilet slowly standing up

Within seconds he appears in the bathroom next to her his hands wrap around her careful of her stomach guiding her over to the sink so she can wash her hands which she does after a few more minutes she's done and dries them and the couple walks back into the bedroom together

"Thank you" she says as he helps her into the bed slowly

"You're welcome, Mama" he smiles covering her back up

He walks around to his side of the bed taking off his boxers once again getting in and underneath the covers.

Seconds later the phone rings, Gemma looks at the phone glances down at the caller ID says Wendy after a few ringsshe answers it "Hello?" Gemma answers as Wendy replies "Hey Gemma, I heard you were out of the hospital" Gemma remarks as she picks up her sewing basket "Yeah, I'm...I'm okay for now although I'm under strict orders to stay in my bed for the rest of my pregnancy, I can't get up for more than 2 hours can you believe that shit?" She replies frustrated, Wendy sighs "Jesus Christ, Gem I'm sorry is there anything I can do to make you feel better?" Wendy asks as she sat on the couch folding a few clothes that she had washed earlier "No sweetheart, Nero already did that if you know what I mean, but thanks for the offer" Wendy laughed "Wow.. it didn't take you two long to get back into the swings of things" Gemma shakes her head "Yeah, well I couldn't take it anymore neither could Nero" Wendy answered back "Yeah I get that"

Gemma changes the subject "Sweetheart, I've decided to have a baby shower" She announces "Oh I was wondering when you were going to have one" Wendy replies "When is it?" Gemma replies "September 21st at 2pm" as Nero returns to their room with some lunch and something to drink "Thanks" She whispers adding "Baby, can you get a pickle and some peanut butter" Nero makes a face "ugh, Mama that's gross" Gemma smiles "pregnancy cravings" He groans disgusted "Yeah..I know, be right back" Gemma yelled back "Thank you, sweetheart!" She continues talking with Wendy "I'm so glad to be back home" Wendy replied "I bet, I'll tell Jax about the shower when he gets home" They hang up; Gemma flips her phone down placing it back on the nightstand next to her. Seconds later, Nero returns with her request of a pickle and peanut butter "Thanks" Nero nodded "uh am I gonna have to watch you eat that?" Gemma smirks "Not if you don't want to" A look of relief appears on Nero's face "Good, because I don't, I'm going to go see what Lucius is up to" Gemma waves him away "Have fun!" Nero smiles replying "I intend to"

Nero walks into Lucius's room "Hey dad" Lucius greets him, Nero sits on the floor with his son who is playing a game with Kayla "What game are you guys playing?" Kayla replies "Checkers, Lucius has won every game" Nero chuckles "Yeah he's pretty good at that game" Kayla asks "How's Gemma doing?" Nero replies "She's doing fine so far; cravings are starting so I came in here with you guys because I didn't want to watch her eat what she asked for" Kayla nods understandingly "Oh, well I'm not even gonna ask then" Nero nods "Wise choice, young lady"

Back in their bedroom, Gemma is finished with her pickle and peanut butter concoction, she groans rubbing her stomach as the bile rises up into her throat "Oh!" she covers her mouth running to the bathroom she makes it there just in time as she starts throwing up; she feels a hand on her shoulder startled, gasping she lifts her head up from the toilet finding Nero sitting down on the floor with her "Oh god!" She throws up again, Nero hands rubs her back soothingly trying to comfort her, she throws up for the next few hours finally she stops breathing heavily she's sweating as she leans into Nero as he wraps his arm around her "Are you okay?" He asks concerned "I think so" She lays down on the bathroom floor with her feet up against the wall and her hands on her stomach, exhaling sharply "What are you doing?" Nero asks in amusement "I can't get up because I feel like shit and all this throwing up is killing me so I figured I'd just lay here instead" Without a word he lays down next to her rubbing her belly "She's moving around" He comments; she smiles "Yeah she's been like this all day, but I don't think she's liked my concoction pickle and peanut butter I fed her hence all the throwing up" Nero laughs "Well, what do you expect?" Gemma looks at him offended "Thanks a lot, you asshole" smacking him on his shoulder. Gemma slowly turns over on her side as Nero does the same they fall silent intertwining their hands together.

"I've gotta pee again" she states looking over at him sighing heavily

"Okay" he says, getting up from the floor

He bent down grabbing her around her waist helping her up guiding her over to the toilet letting go she pulls down on her pants and panties and sits down and starts peeing, he waits patiently for her to finish after a few seconds she does grabs some toilet paper wiping herself and he helps her up again reaching behind her flushing the toilet with his help she slowly walks the few steps over to the sink to wash her hands.

A few minutes later Nero breaks the silence "You feeling better?" He asks kissing her on her forehead, she shrugs her shoulders "I think so" he puts the lid down, taking her again around the waist he sits her down on the toilet as he grabs a cup of water, handing it to her "Here sip this water" She does "Thanks" He lifts her up into his lap they sits there for a while, Gemma sips her water as Nero gently rubs her back "I think it's time for you two to get back into the bed now" he announces kissing her on the cheek, Gemma nods "Okay, but can you give me a foot rub?" Nero replies "Sure" They get up from the toilet, Nero carries her to their bed gently setting her down, she places her foot down onto his lap, he rubs it gently going up to her ankle and then down again commenting "Your feet are more swollen" Gemma nods "I know, they also hurt, my hands are too I'm surprised I can still wear my wedding ring" She says showing him her hands "ooh they really are swollen!" He exclaims "Maybe you should put your wedding ring on the chain with your engagement ring" He suggests pointing to the chain around her neck, Nero stops rubbing her foot to help her take off her ring, gently trying to ease it off without hurting her after struggling a few moments he finally gets the ring off, Gemma turns around; Nero unclips the chain from her neck putting her wedding ring into it along with her engagement ring, he puts it back around her neck clipping it shut "Thank you" She whispers, he smiles whispering "I love you too" She puts her foot back onto his lap he continues to rub her foot, then she put her other foot onto his lap and he rubs that one "mmmm!" She exclaims contently as his hands move up to her ankle, he then starts rubbing both feet at the same time, Gemma closes her eyes in contentment.

Padilla Residence

An half hour later, Nero yelled out"Dinner ready!" Gemma sat on the bed leaning her head back against the headboard. Nero gets Gemma her plate, putting it on the tray he brings it into her "Thanks, baby..ooh this looks great!" Nero smiles "You're welcome" Kayla brings Lucius into the kitchen sitting him into the empty chair Kayla sits down in the other vacant seat asking "What do you want to drink?" "Milk" Kayla quickly gets the boy his milk while Nero gets his own plate of food "I'll be in the bedroom eating with Gemma" Kayla nods "Okay I'll stay out here with Lucius" Kayla gets up to get her own plate of food then gets a bottle of water from the fridge and sat down to eat with Lucius.

Nero returns to the room with his plate of food sitting down beside Gemma who is eating "mmm, this is really amazing, babe!" Nero smiles "I'm glad you like it" They continue to eat their dinner 15 minutes later Gemma is finished "I'm done" She announced handing her plate to Nero as he eats the remaining bites left of his food; a few moments later he's done he takes their plates into the kitchen putting them into the sink. Kayla put their dishes in the sink "Well come on. kiddo let's go in the other room to play" Kayla helps Lucius out of the chair picking him up and the two of them go into his room.

9pm

Gemma places her hand on her stomach, Nero moves closer to her placing his hand on top of hers they both smile as they feel the baby moving all around; Nero whispers "She's going crazy in there" Gemma chuckles putting the phone down from her ear whispering "I know"

Nero announces "I'm gonna go check on Lucius and Kayla, but knowing them they are probably already asleep" Gemma nodded as he gets up from the bed going into the other room, looking into the room and just as he suspected they are asleep "Good night you guys" He whispered turning off the lights and shutting the door quietly, returning to their room Nero announced "Well, they're all asleep" Gemma laughs playfully "You called that one" Nero nods in agreement "Yeah"

September 21st -10am

Gemma and Nero are already awake, but aren't out of bed just yet they are content just laying there holding each other while her shirt is up exposing her belly they both have their hands on it watching their baby moving around, Nero notices her stretch marks "You've got stretch marks" he commented "I know that" she whispered "They are so beautiful" he whispered back, tracing them with his fingers gently, kissing her stomach, after a long pause Gemma remarks "Babe, our baby shower is today" Nero kisses her "I know and hopefully we'll get everything we need for our little one" He remarks smiling as he places his hand on her belly exclaims "She's awake" She laughs "I know, she moves around a lot now that I'm further along in my pregnancy" He replies "good point,you gonna into work today?" Gemma replies "I don't know" Nero caresses her face "Well, whatever you decide I'll support you" Gemma smiles "Thanks, well I'm getting a bit bored just staying in this bed day in and day out so I think I will go" Nero points at her reminding "Remember, don't be on your feet for more then two hours" She just glares at him saying nothing.

Nero walks over to her side of the bed helping her up wrapping his arms around her "I'm gonna go to the bathroom" Nero replies "Okay" Nero gets dressed for work he decides to go in just for a few hours at least until the shower. Gemma comes out of the bathroom her teeth are brushed, she sits down on the bed "ooh!" She exclaims, Nero looks at her concerned "You okay, Mama?" Gemma shakes her head "No, my back hurts" Nero walks over sitting on the bed next to her, he rubs her back gently "Is that where it hurts?" He asks rubbing the lower part of her back, she nods "Yeah, that feels good, thanks" Nero smiles "Do you know where my shoes are?" Gemma looks around the room "Over there" She says pointing against the wall, Nero exclaims "Oh!" He gets up from the bed grabbing his shoes "Thanks, Mama" Gemma replies "You're welcome" She sighs heavily "I guess I should get dressed"

Nero helps Gemma up from the bed again, she walks over to her dresser trying to figure out what she's going to wear, blowing out air from her cheeks she roams around her dresser, opening her first drawer "Well here's something" She pulls out a partly see through t-shirt putting it on, it fits "Thank god" she says to herself then opens the second drawer, pulling out a pair of jeans pulling them on, they also fit fine, she pulls her shirt over the jeans, walking over to the mirror she checks herself out that's when Nero comes back into the room from the bathroom "Looking hot, Mama" He compliments kissing her, She smiles "Thank you, baby..you look hot yourself" Nero smiles kissing her passionately, their passion gets more intense as they go at it, Gemma's body gets pressed down into the bed, she moans as he hands roam under her shirt, breathless she looks at him murmuring "You shouldn't start something you can't finish" Nero nods "I know, but we can't do this now" She pushes him off of her agreeing "As much as I want to" Nero replies breathing heavily "Sorry, babe" He apologizes; she waves her hands "It's okay, but later right?" Nero smiles "definitely..I just couldn't help it, how you look in that outfit"

After a few moments Gemma gets up from the bed trying to find some socks to wear after looking all through her sock drawer she finds some "Ah thank god" She puts them on her feet, now she's just got to decide if she wants to wear her boots or regular shoes this decision usually would be an easy one, but she's pregnant now so she figures it would be better to go with regular shoes as much as she doesn't want to, she walks to her closet, pulls out the one pair of regular shoes she has and puts them, looking down at them "Ugh" She groans thinking they don't really match with this outfit, oh well next she goes into the bathroom to brush her hair and put on her make up, meanwhile Nero's in Lucius's room helping him to get dressed, a knock at the door interrupts them "I'll get it, babe" Gemma yells out from the bathroom, Nero yells back "Okay"

Gemma walks through the bedroom into the kitchen opening the door "Hey Kayla" Gemma gives her a kiss on her cheek "Is Lucius awake?" She asks as Gemma takes her coat and purse setting it down "Yeah, Nero's helping him get dressed" Kayla grabs a cup from the cupboard putting it under the coffee machine turning it on, she and Gemma make small talk as Kayla waits for her coffee to get done "So the baby shower is today" Kayla starts as Gemma looks up at her "Yeah it is, at 2pm" Kayla replies "I hope you two get everything you need for the baby" Gemma nods "Me too, especially because the nursery is so empty right now" Just then Nero comes into the kitchen with Lucius in his arms "Hey buddy!" Kayla exclaims as Nero puts him down, Kayla holds into him so he doesn't fall "Hi, Kayla" he gives her a hug; making both Gemma and Nero smile. Kayla remarks "I'll make him breakfast you guys can go" Gemma and Nero reply "Thanks" Kayla sits Lucius into the chair while she gets her coffee she quickly puts in the cream and sugar.

11am

Gemma grabs her phone, keys and purse and follows Nero out the car "Bye you two, be good Lucius, we love you" Gemma says as walks out "Bye, I love you too" Lucius says, the door shuts leaving Kayla and Lucius alone in the house. Gemma takes her sunglasses out of her purse putting them on, she fans herself as the bright sun heats her up "ooh, damn it's hot!" Gemma throws Nero her keys "Here, babe" he catches them "Good catch" She comments walking over to the passenger side of the car, getting in, then shutting the door, putting on her seatbelt as Nero slides into the drivers side, putting on his seatbelt, starting the car he turns on the air conditioning within a few minutes it's very cool in the car "Ah!" Gemma exclaims as the cold air hits her "That's so much better" With that Nero backs out from the driveway and heads to T.M.

They arrive there within 10 minutes, Gemma takes off her seat belt and opens the door, Nero gets out and goes around her side, helping her out of the car, he walks with her into the office, sighing she looks around putting her hands on her hips commenting "Well, nothing looks out of place" Nero laughs "Gee Mama, you think you'd notice if there was somethin' out of place?" he comments half joking; she smacks him lightly on the arm "Shut up!" Nero replies "I should get to work" Gemma kisses him goodbye "You'll be home for the shower right?" Nero nodded "Yeah of course, when are you coming home?" She thinks for a moment "probably around 1 or 1:30" Nero replies putting on his sunglasses "Alright, see you later, I love you" Gemma walks him to the door taking his hands into hers "See ya, we love you too" they kiss again, he rubs her belly and leaves as Gemma watches him walk to the car.

Gemma walks over to her chair carefully sitting down, she groans as her back starts to hurt again, she puts her feet up onto the couch to try and relieve the swelling in her feet and ankles, she tries reaching for her purse which is way over on the couch, but can't that's when Chucky comes in "Hey Gemma" She smiles at him "Hey Sweetheart, can you get my purse over there?" She asks pointing to the couch, Chucky smiles "Sure" He grabs it from the couch handing it to her "Thank you, you know I'm only going to be here for a few hours because my baby shower is at 2pm also I can't be on my feet for more than 2 hours, doctors orders" Chucky nods "I understand, do you need anything?" She looks at him in surprise "No, not right now" Without another word he then leaves the office.

Tig walks into the office "Hey Gem" Tig greets her "Hey" she says taking her pills out of her purse, she places them onto the desk, Tig goes over to the water jug getting Gemma some water "Here's some water to take with your pills, Gem" He says handing her the cup "Thanks" Tig smiles sitting down in the chair beside her desk "I hear you can't be on your feet for more than 2 hours" Gemma confirms this "Yep, doctors orders unfortunately" Tig looks at her sadly "I'm sorry" Gemma groans "I hate it, but I don't want the baby to come early" Tig replies "Yeah..." Gemma quickly takes her pills washing them down with the water, she groans "ugh" placing her hand on her stomach whispers "Sorry, baby"

12pm

Tig leaves as Gemma puts on her reading glasses, then starts on her paperwork; after two hours everything's done. Looking down at her watch she realizes it's already the afternoon "Damn...time goes by fast" Slowly getting up from the chair, making her way into the clubhouse kitchen "ooh!" exclaiming, she puts her hand to her lower back to try to ease her back pain as she opens the fridge to look for something to eat "hmm" after a few moments she decides on a salad, after making it she places the empty bowls and silverware into the sink and heads back to her office.

After an hour, Gemma's done eating her salad; all the sudden she's got a craving for some ice cream, she yells out the boys "Is anyone out there?!" Hearing Gemma's voice Bobby comes in "Hey Gemma need something?" She nods "Yes baby, a bowl of ice cream could you get me some?" He nods "Sure, what kind?" Gemma replies after thinking a bit "Neapolitan" Bobby nods disappearing into the kitchen, seconds later he returns with her ice cream "Here you go" he says handing the bowl to her "Thanks, sweetheart" She says starting to eat her desert.

1:30pm

Minutes later, Gemma finished her desert, looking at her watch she decides to go home to get the house ready for the shower, she packs up her things and walks out to her car, then leaves. Arriving home she gets out her car opening the door, she walking in "Anyone home?" She calls out, Nero comes out from their bedroom "Hey Mama, you're home" He comes over to her kissing her "How was your day?" He asks helping her to sit down onto a kitchen chair "Oh it was fine, but I missed you" Nero smiles handing her hand "I missed you, too, I wanted to come home to get the house ready for the shower" Nero remarks reminding her "Remember you can't be on your feet a lot" Gemma smiles "I know that, I just want to straighten up a bit and you can help me you know" Nero pulls her to him giving her a hug "Of course I will" She pats his chest "Thank you"

2:00pm

They finish cleaning up just in time, Gemma and Nero are in their bedroom resting and waiting for everyone to arrive. Minutes later a knock at the door comes, Nero gets up to get it while Gemma stays in the bed; Nero opens the door that reveals Wendy, Jax and Abel and all the men, they've all come baring gifts, Nero tells them to put all the gifts on the dining room table, they do with the bigger gifts going against up the wall that's when Gemma appears greeting everyone, she's smiling and happy "Hey guys" She walks over to each one of them kissing them on their cheeks; Nero pulled one of the chairs out helping her sit down as they hand out the gifts; Wendy hands her her gifts first "Here you go" She smiles "Thanks" Gemma opens the gifts "Aww!" She exclaims holding up a pink onesie saying "Baby girl" Gemma then opens up the second gift "Ah just what I need a breast pump" Wendy chuckles "Hey it comes in handy" Gemma remarks "Yep so true, thanks, well now at least my husband won't have to get one for me" She comments looking at Nero who is smiling "Hey you know I'd get you one" Gemma nods "I know, well whose gifts are next?" She asks putting her hands on her knees; Wendy walked up to her mother in law handing her more gifts one of them was a big gift "Uh you guys wanna give Gemma a hand opening this?" Wendy asked pointing to huge wrapped gift against the wall, Bobby and Jax volunteer to help sliding the gift over to her, they help her open it within seconds later it's opened "Wow, a crib, thanks, guys!"

An hour later all of the presents are unwrapped and opened, Gemma's got all she needs for the baby, oneies, socks, burp cloths, a lot of clothes, blankets, a baby monitor, toys and a few teddy bears too. Next is the cake which Nero brings out of the fridge the cake says Baby Girl Padilla ; it's decorated in pink all around with baby feet and pink bows on the top; Nero gets a big knife from the kitchen and cuts the cake; Tara passes out the plastic plates to everyone while Nero gives them pieces of cake.

6pm

A couple hours later the shower is over, everyone has left with the exception of Jax, Wendy and Abel, Jax and Nero start putting the gifts upstairs in the nursery like the rocking chair and they put the clothes into the dresser, they leave the crib and changing table and swing out because they have to be put together "Thanks Mano for the help" Nero shakes his hand "No problem" After a while Wendy and Jax decide to leave giving Gemma and Nero time alone.
