Nero grabbed a rocking chair placing Lucius in it while Gemma pulls over two more rockers over for she and Nero to sit in when Lucius asks. "Can I hold her?" Gemma replies. "Sure, but we'll help you okay" he nods in understanding. Gemma asks. "Do you want to get her? or should I?" shrugging her shoulders she responds."It doesn't matter to me" with that, Nero gets up from the chair and opens up the isolate gently taking out the tiny baby out, she opens her eyes looking at her father. "Hey, Mija, I have someone I want you to meet, your big brother, Lucius" Nero brings the baby over his son putting her in his arms with Gemma helping to support her head. Talaya looks at the little boy cooing. "She likes me!" he exclaims happily. "Of course she does, your her big brother, she loves you" Gemma says looking down at her daughter as Lucius's kisses his baby sister on her forehead saying. "I love you"
Chapter: 21: Welcome Home And Together Again
St. Thomas Hospital – December 25thNICU – Morning - 11am
Lucius is still holding his sister in the rocking chair with both Gemma and Nero helping support him with Gemma still supporting her tiny head while Nero is supporting her body, Lucius's arms are under her. Suddenly Talaya starts to cry, Lucius looked to his dad and Gemma a bit scared of his sister's reaction. "It's okay, sweetheart, she's probably hungry" Gemma said to Lucius reassuringly, taking Talaya from her stepson and into her arms. "Shh, shh, it's okay" she soothes her little girl, placing her onto her shoulder, rubbing her back comfortingly. Grabbing a burp cloth and a bottle, Talaya's cries get a bit louder.
Nero gets up from the rocker taking his baby girl from his wife and into his arms while Gemma tests the bottle on her wrist making sure it's not too hot, it's not. She placed the burp cloth onto his shoulder, handing the bottle to him, once he put the bottle in her mouth, her cries stop and she starts taking the bottle right away, the swallowing is there which Nero is glad for. He sat back down in the rocker with his baby while holding onto the bottle for her. Talaya's little fingers reach out, Nero grabbed onto them holding on, her grip is still strong. He smiled down at her whispering in Spanish.
"Te, amo, Mija" (I love you, Mija)
"Eres Tan hermosa" (You are so beautiful)
After drinking an ounce of milk, Nero takes the bottle out of Talaya's mouth, placing her on his shoulder with the burp cloth gently patting her back trying to get her to burp.
"Vamos, cariño, puedes hacerlo" (Come on baby, you can do it) he whispered in her ear encouragingly. Finally a while later she burps he kisses her on her head.
Gemma's sitting in the rocker quietly with her eyes closed. She's so exhausted.
Just then Lucius asks. "Can I feed her, Papi?" holding out his arms.
Nero answers back. "Sure, Mijo, but I'll help you hold the bottle and her"
Lucius nodded in understanding. Nero places Talaya in his son arms wrapping his arm around her head so he can support it and his around arm under her body well still having his hands holding her, he hands the boy the bottle and he sticks it into her mouth and she starts to drink again as Nero places the burp cloth underneath Talaya's chin to catch any milk that drips down.
As Lucius continued feeding his baby sister, Nero watches the sweet moment as he continues holding onto his daughter, while Gemma leans back in her rocker trying not fall asleep. With his one free hand, Nero gently touches his wife thigh. "Hey Mama, you okay?" he asked concerned. She opens her eyes stirring answering groggily. "Yeah, yeah, babe, just really tired" she walks to the sink to splash some cold water on her face then washes her hands again.
Returning to her husband, stepson and daughter, staying a few feet away from them, she just stands there watching over them contently. Nero notices her standing there watching, so he asks. "Hey Gem, you want to feed her the last little bit that's in the bottle?" she nods walking over taking the baby from Lucius's arms, Nero hands her the bottle, placing the burp cloth on her shoulder and she sits back down in the rocking chair again and feeds Talaya the rest of her bottle while rocking her a little, the tiny baby starts closing her eyes and within a few moments she's asleep. Gemma kisses her daughter on the cheek whispering. "I love you, baby girl" Seconds later, Talaya stops drinking so Gemma takes the bottle out of her mouth and just rocks her more.
Just then Amy comes over to the couple. Gemma and Nero looked up smiling. "Hey, you two" the young nurse bent down putting her hand on the matriarch's shoulder, "How about we get Talaya weighed" Amy suggested, nodding without a word the older woman handed the nurse her little girl. "Hey there, little one" she whispered to the baby as they all walk over to the baby scale while Lucius stayed quietly sitting in the chair.
The three arrived seconds later. Amy gently placed the baby onto the scale after pressing a few buttons seconds later the weight comes up on the screen: "5 pounds, 15 ounces, hopefully in the next couple of weeks she can finally go home" both Gemma and Nero light up at the news. "Here you go" Amy hands the baby back to Gemma as she and Nero both sit back in the rocking chairs next to Lucius. Gemma gazing down at her daughter saying. "Did you hear that baby girl you'll be home with us in a few weeks" baby Talaya coos at her mom's voice grasping onto her finger, Gemma grabbed onto her tiny balled up fist.
Gemma looked over to her husband asking. "Do you want to hold her?" he nodded his head, as she hands their daughter over, he takes her into his arms while supporting her body and head. He caresses her cheek with his finger, chuckling softly, talking to his daughter. "I love you, baby girl, we can't wait to have you home" Nero stands up from the chair walking over to the isolate placing his baby gently in it, she squirms happily, Gemma walks over peering down at her daughter, she smiles reaching into Talaya's incubator taking her little foot gently rubbing it. "We love you, sweetheart" she whispered closing up the isolate putting the blanket back on the top. Nero brings Lucius over to his sister's isolate so he can see her again, he touches the top saying. "I love you, I'll see you soon" then kisses the incubator.
The two walk back over to the chairs grabbing their things, Nero hands Gemma her purse with his free hand, while Gemma picks up Lucius's crutches as they leave the NICU happy they'll finally be a true family soon.
They head to the car. Gemma hands Nero the crutches then gets into the passenger seat putting on her seatbelt as Nero places Lucius and his crutches into the backseat. He walked around to the drivers seat getting into the car, buckling up, Gemma handed him the keys and he pulls out of the parking lot, heading over to Jax and Wendy's house to celebrate the rest of Christmas day.
As they are in car, they make small talk, Gemma turns around her seat talking to Lucius. "So sweetheart, did you enjoy your present?" Lucius replies. "Yeah, I loved seeing my baby sister, I can't wait for her to come home" Gemma chuckles. "Your dad and I can't wait either" Seconds later the SUV pulls into Jax and Wendy's driveway, "We're here" Nero announces turning off the engine, Gemma gets out from the car walking around to the trunk opening it up, Nero gets out and goes around to the backseat getting Lucius out and his crutches. "Here, Mijo" he says handing the crutches to his son, he puts them onto his arms and walks slowly over to Gemma and his father. Nero helps Gemma with getting the gifts out of the trunk.
"Babe?" Gemma calls as she handed the few gifts to her husband.
"Yeah?" He replies back giving her his attention, taking the gifts from her.
"We need a baby monitor" she mentions closing the trunk.
Nero frowns in confusion at his wife. "I thought we got one while at the store" he said.
Gemma shakes her head, replying back. "No, we didn't and we also need a baby bath tub so we can give her baths in the tub, a baby book and I want to get her some more pacifiers also some toys"
He smiles at her then responds. "Guess we'll have to get them" She nods her head agreeing.
Gemma walked ahead letting herself into Jax and Wendy's house with her key, while Nero and Lucius slowly lag behind.
"Merry Christmas, guys!" she says trying not to drop the gifts she's got in her hands, Wendy walks over to her. "Let me take those, Gem" the blonde offered, "Thanks, baby" she smiled at her daughter in law. Wendy places the gifts over by the tree.
Once Gemma's free of the gifts she picked Abel up from Wendy's arms placing hin into her arms kissing him. Jax comes over kissing his mother on her cheek. "Hey Ma" he says as Gemma kisses her son back on his cheek while Wendy smiles at the older woman greeting her. "Hey Gemma" with Abel still in her arms she bends down kissing the blonde on the cheek. "Hey baby" seconds later Nero and Lucius walk into the house, Jax walks over to help him. "Hey man, you need a hand?" he questions, the older man replies. "It'd be nice, Mano" Jax chuckled taking the packages from him placing them by the tree with the others.
Gemma gave Abel back to Wendy and goes over to the tree to hand out the gifts.
Wendy and Gemma get up from the floor and go sit on the couch when Wendy asked. "Hey, you guys gonna stay for dinner?" Gemma smiles at the blonde then looked over at her husband asking. "You want to, babe?" Nero smiled back answering. "Sure" Wendy replied, happily. "Good, I was gonna start the ham soon" Gemma nods, "I can help with making the food if you'd like" Wendy replies, getting up from the couch, "Sure, let's get started" Both women walk into the kitchen to start the dinner so it can be done by later on.
A Few Hours Later:Evening 7pm
By the evening all the food is ready consisting of the ham, stuffing, pumpkin pie, yams, macaroni and cheese. "Dinner's done, come and get it!" Gemma announced from the kitchen while setting the table. Jax brings in Abel while Nero picks up Lucius carrying him into the kitchen setting him down into an empty chair.
With everyone together, Gemma grabs Lucius's plate filling up with some food placing it in front of him while and sat down to eats her own food while feeding Abel his bottle. Wendy sat down after getting her own plate of food and Nero cut up Lucius's food, Jax gets his plate of food taking a seat next to Nero in the empty seat.
The family makes small talk as they all eat and enjoy each others company. After an hour everyone is done eating, Abel is now back in his crib sleeping. Gemma and Nero are sitting on the couch watching Lucius playing a game while Wendy and Jax are sitting on the other couch.
Another hour goes by, Gemma and Nero decide to leave. "Bye, sweetheart" she says sadly to Wendy kissing her on the cheek. Jax gives his mom a hug. "Bye Ma" Gemma hugs her son and her daughter in law back.
Minutes Later: Padilla Residence 9pm
10 minutes later, Gemma, Nero and Lucius arrive home, Nero turns off the engine and looks back at his son mentioning, "He's asleep" Gemma chuckles softly replying. "Are you gonna get him?" he nodded as she gets out of the car grabbing her purse, keys and phone.
Nero gets out of the car goes around to the back seat opening up the door, he takes off his son seat belt and picks up putting him over his shoulder, Lucius is still asleep. Once Gemma put her things down on the counter she comes back outside to give her husband a hand. "Do you want me to take him?" he shook his head. "No, Mama, but you can get his crutches" without a word, Gemma goes to the backseat and retrieve the crutches then shuts the door behind her and goes back inside shutting that door locking it securely.
9:15pm
Nero has arrived at his son's room, gently he laid his son down on his pillow covering him the kissing his forehead, whispering. "Good night, I love you, Mijo" he turns and goes out of the room, quietly closing the door. Meanwhile in their bedroom Gemma has put her pajamas on and gotten into the bed waiting for her husband, 5 minutes later he appears from Lucius's bedroom and goes into the bathroom to get ready for bed.
9:30pm
The bathroom door opens and he walks over to his side of the bed getting in. He looked over to his wife. "Hey baby, you ready for bed?" he questions rubbing her arm softly. She yawns. "Yeah, I'm so tired it's been a long day" she turns off the light on her side. Nero does the same and they both lay down on their pillows as he moves closer to his wife wrapping his arm around her waist, whispering. "I love you, Mama" Gemma already has her eyes closed, softly mumbles. "I love you too, baby" he kisses her on her the lips and within seconds the couple is asleep.
The Next Morning: December 26th9am:
Gemma stirs, slowly opening her eyes then sits up in the bed, moments later Nero awakens opening his eyes, he smiles as she kisses him. "Good Morning, babe" she greets. "Good Morning, Mama" he greets back, kissing her back she then got up and goes into the bathroom, closing the door behind her.
Nero gets up from the bed, going over to the bathroom door knocking on it softly.
"Mama, you alright?" he asked, patiently waiting for her to answer.
Gemma whose on the other side quietly staring at herself in the mirror, she answers stoically. "Yeah, I'm okay"
He asks softly, waiting her response. "Can I come in?"
Looking at the closed door, hesitantly unsure if she wants to let him in or not, she takes a shakily breath, breaking the silence she answered back barely up above a whisper. "Sure"
He opens the door and closes it. She looks at him, but doesn't say anything so he asked again. "Are you sure you're okay?"
She gazes down at the floor swallowing hard, he tips his finger to her chin making her look at him, tears are streaming down her face.
"Hey, hey...shh" he trails off wrapping his arms around her trembling body trying to comfort her as she continues crying softly.
After a few emotional moments, she clears her throat as Nero cups her face into his hands wiping her tears away with his fingers.
"What's wrong, babe?" he asks concerned, handing her some tissues.
She blows her nose sniffling. "I think you know already what's wrong" she said observantly.
He guesses. "The baby?" she nodded, taking a seat down on the edge of the tub.
Clearing his throat as he took a seat on the toilet. Silence falls on the couple.
After a few minutes Nero breaks the silence. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Gemma looks at her husband, nodding. "Every time I leave her there I don't want to, I'm so worried..she's gonna die"
Nero gets up from the toilet walking over the few feet to his wife taking her hand into his pulling her into his arms as she leans into him as his arms wrap around her with his hand on the back of her head trying to comfort her.
He makes her look at him with tears in her eyes, she does as he places his hands on her shoulders, "Hey, you listen to me she's not gonna die, she's strong just like her mother!" he says in an affirming tone, kissing the top of her forehead, pausing he continued. "We are gonna bring her home soon and we'll finally be a real true family I promise"
She gazed into his eyes intensely, whispering. "How do you know?" she asked, placing her hand over her mouth, eyes closed. "Because I do, trust me" he said, sighing. She sniffles, then responds. "You're right" inside knowing he's right as the biker queen takes her husband's hand into hers pulling him with her "Thank you" she whispered, cupping his face with her hands kissing him passionately their tongues slip inside each others mouth.
They continue kissing until reluctantly pulling away from each other, breathing heavily. Both stand there a bit awkwardly. "I'll make some coffee" Nero says kissing her quickly leaning his head onto her forehead, whispering "You're welcome" Gemma calls out. "Hey do you want me to get Lucius?" He nods. "Yeah, thanks" she smiles as he leaves the room.
Going into Lucius's room, Gemma turns on the little light then sits on his bed, he stirs opening his eyes rubbing them of sleep. "Good morning, sweetheart!" he smiles, replying sleepily. "Good morning, Gemma" she helps him from the bed. "Up we go"
Meanwhile in the kitchen, Nero has made the coffee and is waiting for it to get done. Just then Gemma and Lucius come into the kitchen together. "Good morning, Mijo!" They kiss once again. Gemma asks, sweetly "Is the coffee done yet, babe?" he shook his head, no, so Gemma sits down as Nero carries Lucius to the table, asking."Do you want some breakfast, Mijo?" the boy answers."Yeah, Papi" seconds later the coffee is done, Gemma starts to get up, but Nero stops her. "I'll get it, Mama" she answers back. "Thanks" Nero grabs a cup from the cupboard, he pours the coffee in it then makes how his wife likes it: black with sugar and hands the cup to her. "Here you go, careful it's hot" she smiled taking it from his larger hands.
He then turns to his son asking. "What do you want to eat?"
Lucius thought for a moment then answered. "Waffles"
Nero smiles and without a word starts making his son request while Gemma continued drinking her coffee.
"Nero?" Gemma called out.
"Yeah?" he replied back, placing the waffles in the toaster.
"We need to go to the store to buy the baby some more things" she mentions getting up to put her cup in the dishwasher.
The toaster pops up the waffles. "Yeah, I know" he replied, reaching into the cupboard getting a plate placing the food on it.
With his back turned, Nero asks his son. "What do you want to drink, pal?" Lucius responded. "Milk" Gemma gets up from the chair pipping in. "I'll get it" she opens the fridge getting the milk out then fetched a cup, pouring the milk into it and places it down on the table in front of him. "Thank you" she smiles. "You're welcome, sweetheart" Seconds later, Nero places the breakfast on the table. "Here you go, Mijo" he replied. "Thanks, dad" the boy began to eat.
Nero gets himself some coffee and sat down from his wife and son. "Mama, you wanna go to the store today?" he asked taking a sip from his cup. "Yeah, I would" she responded. He replies back. "Okay, I'll call Kayla and ask her to watch Lucius while we go"
Nero pulls out his phone dialing Kayla's number, after a few rings, Kayla answered. "Hello?" Nero answered. "Hey Kayla, it's Nero, can you come over to the house and watch Lucius?" he asks.
The young woman answers back while getting dressed. "Sure, I'll be over there soon"
He continues "Gemma and I need to make a trip to the store" he explained, walking around.
Kayla replied. "No problem, no need to explain, see you in a few" Nero hangs up and so does Kayla.
Nero comes back into the kitchen where his wife and son are still there, Gemma is finishing her breakfast while Lucius is done with his and they are making small talk.
"Well, that's done, Kayla will be over in a few" he announced.
Gemma took both her and Lucius's dishes placing them in the dishwasher. "Okay, well I'm gonna get dressed" she walked out of the kitchen and into their bedroom while Nero carried Lucius into his bedroom to get him dressed.
Minutes later, Lucius is now dressed when there's a knock at the door. Gemma's getting her clothes together throwing them down on the bed, she shouted. "I'll get it!" Nero yells back. "Okay!" Gemma briskly walked through the house and into the kitchen opening the door to reveal the young sitter. "Hey sweetheart" the older woman kissed the girl on the cheek. "Hi, Gemma, it's been a while" she greeted the biker. "Gemma smiles. "Come in and yes it has" Kayla looked around asking. "Where are Nero and Lucius?" Gemma answered. "In Lucius's room they should be out in a minute, make yourself at home, I have to get dressed" Kayla smiled as the Gemma left the room, going back on her and Nero's bedroom.
Meanwhile back in their room, picking through her clothes on the bed, going with a pair of dark jeans and black t-shirt, plus sock and underwear, she goes into the bathroom to get dressed, closing the door behind her.
Nero and Lucius come out of his bedroom where Kayla is sitting at dining room table. "Hi, kiddo!" she said, bending down to his level. "Hi, Kayla!" he shouts happily, giving her a hug. Moments later, Gemma appears in the doorway dressed and her make up on. Nero turns around, looking at her pointing out. "Mama, you look beautiful" She looks at him, her eyes are sparkling as he walks the few steps to her wrapping his arms around her body, they kiss as Gemma's mouth opens letting Nero's tongue slip inside, she moans softly, the passionate escalates, just then the two hear Kayla's throat clear, they quickly pull away, embarrassed trying to compose themselves again. "Sorry, guys, I can't keep my hands off her" Nero apologized, Gemma also apologizes. "Yeah, we're sorry, baby" Kayla chuckles, replying. "It's okay, but if I didn't stop you two..." she trailed off, they get the picture and just nod looking at each other smirking.
Changing the subject. Gemma asked. "Ready to go, pimp daddy?" Nero shakes his head up and down. "Yeah, let's go, Mama" walking to the door she all the sudden stops in her tracks. "Shit" she curses softly to herself. Nero almost collided with her. "What's wrong, Gem?" he asked, concerned. She sighs heavily replying. "I forgot to take my heart medicine" Nero grabs her purse taking out her pills dangling the bottle in front of her. "Thank you" Nero gets a glass and fills it with water handing it to her as she opened the bottle, grabbing the pill then popping into her mouth and washing it down with the water. "Ugh!" she groans as the bitter taste lingers in her throat.
Gemma and Nero turn back to Kayla and Lucius where Gemma spoke up. "You two have a good time and behave" she gives them both hugs. Nero steps in and gave his son a kiss on his cheek. Gemma grabbed her phone and put on her sunglasses, then Nero handed her, her keys and they leave.
The Shopping Center: 12pm
A few moments later, Nero pulled into the parking lot of the store trying to find a parking space after some time he does, parks and turns off the engine. "Ready?" she nodded, getting out of the car shutting the door as does Nero. Gemma walked around to meet her husband when he comes to her, taking his hand into hers and they walked into the store together.
In the store, Gemma gets a cart and Nero pushed it while she walked beside him. The couple head off to the baby section. They get there, Gemma wanders around the isles with her husband not far behind, she spots what she's looking for moments later and calls out. "Hey baby, come see this" he comes over with the cart. "What?" he asked. She holds up a box showing it to him explaining. "It's a baby bath" he nodded as she put the item in the cart then moved onto another isle.
"Let's see, we still need a baby monitor, a baby book, some toys and pacifiers we can never have too many of those" she said rattling off the things they need to get.
"Here's the baby monitor, we should get two, one for each of us" she commented, continuing walking down the aisle.
"Why do we need two Mama, we aren't gonna be far away from her?" he questioned.
"You never know we could be far away when she needs us, plus we need one for the nursery and one for our room" she says making a point.
He nods his head. "Oh right, two it is" she places the monitors in the cart.
The couple goes through the rest of the isles quickly picking up the next few items they need, pacifiers, which Gemma gets a two more – one of them pink, a cute baby book white and pink and finally a few toys one of them being some a rattle and baby key rings. "She'll love these when she starts chewing on things" the biker queen commented. "Yeah, that's gonna be fun" he teased back. "Oh speaking of chewing I just thought of something else she'll need – a teething ring" Gemma says changing the subject somewhat, Nero frowns. "Baby, she's not gonna have teeth right away I think we should save that for later" he mentions as she stops walking and turns to her husband holding up her hand. "Okay, you're right, that's true" sighing heavily she continued to speak. "Well, I think that's every thing" adding "unless you want to get her some things like clothes or toys" she says glancing over at her husband.
"Well?" she asked impatiently, hands on her hip, awaiting his reply.
He smiles placing his hands around her, speaking in a quiet tone. "You're right I should start to get her things even though she's not here with us just yet, but she will be soon and I have to admit I do want her to have things from her daddy too"
Nero let go of his wife and they continue to shop going to the baby clothes section. "Hey Mama, here's the clothes" he pointed out. He looked through the onesies first, looking at the sizes a lot of them are way too big finally he spots a tiny cute pink one that says "My daddy is the cutest daddy in the world" he holds it against himself for her to see. "Aw that's so cute, I hope it fits because she needs preemie clothes she's tiny" she explains, adding. "I love it, though!" he looked at the tag and it's marked "preemie" he shows it to her, she smiles. "It'll fit" she said taking it from him placing it into the cart. Next they go the socks which Nero picks out a few pairs and a few more cute preemie onesies and some tiny undershirts, plus some toys including stack able rings, baby ABC books and two teddy bears and a giraffe. "Now I think that's everything" she announced, he nods agreeing with her. "Ready to get out of here?" he asked, she answered back. "Yep, let's go" They pay for all their items and head back home once again.
1:30pm:
The couple arrive back, they get out of the car Gemma walks to the door and opened it, placing her purse, keys and phone down on the counter, she shouted from the kitchen. "We're home!" Kayla yelled back from Lucius's room. "We're in here!" Gemma goes back out to the car to help her husband with the bags. Nero gave her some of the bags and he carried in the rest.
Gemma carries the bags she's got right upstairs into the nursery setting them down on the floor and starts unpacking them. Seconds later, Nero arrived in the room carrying the rest of the bags into the room, he sets them next to the other ones. "Hey Mama, here are the rest of the bags" he started helping her open the items and put them away. First he opened up the baby bath and placed it down in the corner as Gemma opened the pacifiers placing them on top of the dresser with the others and then put Talaya's baby books on the shelve then opened the baby monitors placing them also on top of the dresser for now with the two walkie talkies beside the monitors. Nero opens the toys asking his wife. "Mama, where do you want the toys at?" thinking about it for a few seconds she responds. "Well, I guess put them on the dresser for now because we don't want them on the floor" he nodded agreeing.
Next Gemma took the stuffed animals placing them on the shelve with the baby books. Nero unpacked all the baby's clothes looking over to his wife he asked. "Babe, you gonna wash these before putting them away?" she looked at him answering. "Yeah, I'm" she walks over to him and he hands her the clothes. "Thank you" she whispered, kissing him on the lips and walked out of the room.
In the meantime, Nero goes into his son's bedroom. "Hey you two" he greeted the two, coming further into the room. Lucius and Kayla smile. "Hey Nero, Hi, Papi" he sat down on the floor. "So what's going on in here?" Kayla responded. "We are coloring together" Nero asked. "Can I join in?" they both nod and he starts to color with them. In the laundry room Gemma is putting the baby's new clothes they bought in the washer she places the soap in the washer and turns it on and leaves the room.

A Few Hours Later:Evening – 5pm:
Gemma slowly opened her eyes and stirred. "Oh my god" she mummers, sitting up on the bed leaning against the headboard. Just then, Nero awakens turning over to face his wife. He looked at her speaking sleepily. "Hey Mama" he said, rubbing her arm. "Hi, baby, have a nice nap?" she asked, groggily, he nodded. "You?" he asked, she nodded. Looking at her watch she comments. "It's 5:00 time for dinner" he sat up on the bed rubbing his eyes of sleep.
Gemma kissed him on the lips then got up from the bed, going into the bathroom closing the door behind her. Nero notices the house seems quiet, he quickly gets up frantically looking around the house for his son and Kayla, breathing heavily, but finally in the dining room, he spotted a small piece of paper picking it up he read.

Meanwhile in the bathroom, Gemma turned on the water making sure it's not too hot or cold she then turned on the shower and steps in letting the spray of water hit her. Lucius and Kayla go into his room and she reads him a book, once they are gone Nero looks over to his wife asking. "Mama, what do you want for dinner?" she answers back unsure. "I don't know" hands her on her hips. After thinking a minute, she walks over to her husband, suggesting. "How about meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans for dinner?" he nodded his head getting everything ready. "Let me help you" without any other words said the two make dinner together.
An hour later their dinner is ready, Gemma sets the table with two plates, silverware and glasses for their drinks. "What do you want to drink, babe?" she asked. "Just water" he said, filling up his and Gemma's plates with the food. Gemma goes over to faucet and filled her husband's glass with water setting it back down on the table then walks to the refrigerator opening it she scans the inside looking for something to drink shaking her head, she whispers. "I'll just have some water too" so she fills her glass up with water setting it down. The two both sit in the chairs and start to eat.
Another half hour passes, Gemma and Nero are done with dinner, Nero put their dishes in the dishwasher and turns it on. Gemma kisses her husband. "Thank you" she whispered and leaves going upstairs into the nursery she walks around, gazing into the crib wishing her baby was in it, then her eyes focus on the rocking chair she goes over to it and sat down slowly rocking.
A Few Hours Later: 10pm:
Nero puts away the dishes from in the dishwasher and cleans up the counters a bit before flipping off the light and turning in for the night. He goes into him and Gemma's bedroom to get dressed for bed, after a few moments he's now dressed. He wonders where his wife is and he goes looking for her, finally finding her upstairs in the nursery rocking chair.
Bending down he makes eye contact with her.

She crinkled her forehead in confusion, he translates. "What are you doing?"
She chuckles softly, answering back, still rocking. "Just sitting here, thinking"
He traces his finger over the scar on her chest, she smirks looking down taking his hand into hers.

She sniffles, swallowing the lump in her throat. He embraces her, rocking her back and forth.
After a few minutes she stops crying trying to collect herself again.
She inhaled and exhaled, heavily. Clearing her throat, she got up from the bed, speaking hoarsely. "I'm going to get ready for bed" Nero stayed sitting on their bed waiting for her to return.
Seconds later, she walks back into the room wearing a pair silk pajamas and slippers. He pat the bed motioning for her to sit down, she does. They sat on the bed next to each other silently unsure of what to say.
"Let's get some sleep now Mama, you've had a long day, so have I, you need some sleep you'll feel better" he stood up from the bed walking around to his side covering up, Gemma gets onto her side covering herself up, she turned on her side so does Nero. "I love you, sweetheart" she whispered. "I love you too, Mama" he whispered back, moving closer to her giving her a kiss on the lips. Within seconds they are both asleep.
A Few Days Later:December 28thMorning – 9am:
Gemma's awakened by a ringing noise, groaning she realizes it's her phone.
Opening her eyes slowly, she roams around for her phone for a few seconds finally finding it.
"Hello?" she answered, groggily.
"Hey Gemma" the older woman shook her head trying to wake up a bit more.
"Who is this?" she asked, not recognizing the voice.
"It's Wendy" the the blonde answered.
"Oh, Wendy, sweetheart..." the matriarch said.
"What's going on?" Gemma asks, sitting up on the bed.
"I'm calling because I'm wondering if you're still planning on doing the wedding party" she asked, walking around the house.
Exhaling heavily, Gemma throws off the covers off herself, getting out bed. "Uh yeah, I'm" rubbing her eyes she padded her way to the kitchen to start the coffee.
Gemma yawns sitting down at the table. "Sure, do you want me to call the guys to let them know?"
Wendy answered. "No, I'll do it you're doing enough already"
The biker queen smiles on her end, suggesting. "Okay, well how about we do it at my house?"
"Sure, that's a good idea and I'll talk to Jax about it" Wendy said.
Just then Nero appears in the kitchen, bending down giving down giving her a kiss, whispering. "Good morning, Mama"
She smiled back at him pulling the phone away from her ear, whispering back. "Hey, baby"
Wendy notices the silence on the other end. "Gemma...are you still there?" she asked.
Gemma put the phone back to her ear. answering "Yeah, I'm here sorry sweetheart, Nero's in the kitchen with me" a few minutes later, the coffee's done and Nero prepared his wife's cup handing it to her then he makes himself his own cup as his wife still talks on the phone.
An hour later, Gemma has hung up with Wendy and they've decided to have the vow renewal later on this afternoon.
"So Wendy and I talked and I've gotta get started on making the food, the guys will be over later" Gemma explained to her husband as they are cleaning up the house, in the meantime Gemma is taking the baby clothes out of washer and placing them into the dryer, she turns it on.
Nero is cleaning the kitchen and wiping down the counters, placing the dishes in the dishwasher, next cleans up Lucius's room quickly. Lucius is in Gemma and Nero's room watching some TV.
Meanwhile, Gemma goes into the kitchen to prepare the food for the shower with Nero's helping her.
As she's making the vegetable tray, Nero is making some of the other food.
"Thank you for the help, baby" she said, smiling. "You're welcome" he said, making some sandwiches.
After a few hours the food is made, Gemma and Nero put all the food on the table. It's now 3pm, Jax and Wendy are already at the house sitting at the table with Abel on Wendy's lap cooing.
Just then a knock at the door interrupts them. "I'll get it" said Gemma walking to the door opening it to reveal the guys "Hey guys, come on in" they come in each giving the biker queen a hug and she kisses them on their cheek.
The guys take seats in the empty chairs while Nero gets a few beers from the fridge handing them to the boys. Gemma gets herself bottled water since she's breastfeeding.
5pm:
After an hour everyone is done eating the food, another half hour goes by and Gemma brings out the wedding cake placing it on the table which bears the words
"Jax and Wendy – Together Forever"
"Okay everyone time for cake!" Gemma announces, passing out the plastic plates and silverware. Everyone gets up to get a piece with Jax and Wendy getting the first two pieces. Nero helps his wife with passing out the cake.
Two hours later the party is over, Jax, Wendy decide to leave with Wendy carrying baby Abel in his carrier.
Jax and Wendy look at each other blankly. "Wow, Mom we didn't even think about that" Jax admitted as he put Abel in the car buckling him into his seat. Wendy turned around to face her mother in law. "Gem, what about having it on your house it just seems right" taking a breath she continues. "Jax, babe what do you think?" she asked, he responded. "Yeah, alright, sounds cool, we can just invite the guys, what time do you think?" he asks looking at his wife. "4pm is good I think" she answers back, Gemma and Nero nod indicating all the plans are okay with them. They nod and kiss everyone good bye again and head home as Gemma and Nero wave to them.
Gemma and Nero are now back in the house. Nero is fixing Lucius something to eat because he said he's hungry while Gemma is checking on the clothes in the dryer they are finally done, she grabs them from the dryer placing all the clothes into the basket and carries them up into the nursery. Taking a seat in the rocker she puts the basket on the floor and starts folding the everything.
Some minutes later, a knock startles her. She looked up to see her husband standing there smiling at her. "Hey baby" she said, as he comes over to her. "What are you doing?" he asked. "Folding the baby's new clothes we got her and I was gonna put them away" He took a seat on the bed offering. "You want some help with that?" she responded. "Okay, thanks" Gemma gets up from the rocker, Nero picks up the basket placing it on the bed and begins to help his wife put away the clothes.
9pm:
Nero is putting Lucius to sleep while Gemma is ready for bed already, but has her glasses on reading a book. Moments later Nero appears back in their room, he goes to his dresser to get some clothes for bed and goes into the bathroom to change. Five minutes go by before he comes back into their bedroom, he gets onto his side of the bed under the covers. "Hey Mama, what are you reading?" he asks laying down on his pillow. She turns the page of the book and responded simply. "Just a book" he replies back simply. "Okay" after a few more minutes, Gemma closes her book placing it on the table beside her, she turns off the light on her side and Nero does the same as the two move closer to each other. Gemma wrapped her arm around her husband's waist whispering. "I love you" he whispered back. "I love you too, Mama" within minutes they are both asleep peacefully.
Three Days Later:December 31st8am:
Gemma is the first one awake, she slowly opens her hazel-brown eyes trying to wake up a bit more. She gets up from the bed and goes into the bathroom to splash some cold water on her face then pats her face dry next she brushes her teeth.
Across town at Jax and Wendy's the couple is already awake getting the boys ready for the day. Jax gets Abel from his crib walking him into the kitchen placing him into his high chair.
Meanwhile, Gemma's still in the bathroom she decides to take a quick shower so she quickly sheds her clothes, turns on the water making sure it's not too hot or cold, then gets in letting the water run down her body for a few minutes.
In the bedroom, Nero awakens to the shower running, he opens his eyes looking around, his hands automatically go to his wife's side of the bed, it's empty, he smiles thinking She must be in the shower getting up from from the bed, he makes his way to the bathroom, opens the door then closing it, he rips off his clothes pulls back the curtain and steps in, Gemma's washing her hair, he places his hands around her waist giving her a kiss on her neck startling her. "Oh, shit!" she turns around laughing. "Baby you scared me!" she says between laughing and trying to calm herself down."Sorry Mama" she lightly smacks him on his arm. "Don't do that!" they stop laughing as Nero finishing washing her hair for her. "Thank you and Good morning" she says after a few minutes of silence. "You're welcome and Good morning to you too" he responded back. "Jax and Wendy are getting remarried today, babe well renewing their vows" she said, reminding him. "I know" the two kiss passionately letting their tongues slip inside each others mouths suddenly Gemma pulled away, Nero looked at her with concern. "You okay, Gem?" he asked, she nods. "Yeah, we just can't do anything, today's gonna be a big day" he smiles. "Who says we are gonna do anything?" he asked. She chuckles. "I know that look, Nero and I know where this is going" she motions with her hands as he put his hands up, shaking his head. "Mama, I love you and I'd never force you into something besides I know you too, come on don't tell you don't want sex?" she smirks at him, admitting. "Okay I do very much, in fact I'm craving it badly, but..." she trailed off. "That's my girl" he kisses her forehead. "Rain check for later" he says, she nodded repeating. "Rain check" they quickly kiss and finish their shower together. After her shower she quickly took her heart medication, she groans as she swallows the pill washing it down with some juice placing her hand to her stomach.
Gemma and Nero are out of the shower and dressed. Nero chimes in. "I'm gonna go see if Lucius is awake, Mama" she nods. "Okay I'm gonna call Wendy" grabbing the phone from the nightstand Gemma dials the familiar number after a few rings it's answered.
"Hello?" Wendy said.
"Hey sweetheart, it's me" Gemma says.
"Hey Gemma, how are you?" the blonde asks putting on her shoes.
"I'm okay" the older woman answers going into the kitchen to start the coffee machine.
"I'm calling because I was wondering when you and Jax and Abel are coming over" Gemma says leaning against the counter.
"I'll have to ask Jax because he's got club business today, but probably 2 or 3" she continues. "Hold on" she pulls the phone away from her ear. "Jax, what time are we going over to your mom's?" she yelled from the living room. "2 or 3" he answered. Wendy put the phone back to her ear. "2 or 3" Gemma says. "Alright sounds good, were you able to get a priest?" she asks. "Yeah I got one" the younger woman answered back. An uncomfortable silence befalls on the two women until Wendy broke it.
"Gemma...I-" the matriarch cut her off. "I know baby, but you know this life, who my son is and it'll be okay and you know I've always loved you and wanted you and Jax back together, now you are I couldn't be any happier for you two I love you both" Wendy breaks down crying. "Gemma"...she sobbed. 'Thank you, I needed that" she whispers sniffling.
"Hey did you remember to call the priest?" the older woman asks.
"No, but I will after we hang up" Wendy responded back.
"Why don't you use the priest Nero and I had he was pretty good?" the matriarch suggested.
"Alright that sounds great thanks, what's his number?" the younger woman asked.
So Gemma gives Wendy his number. "Thank you, Gem"
The older woman responded. "You're welcome, baby"
After talking a few more minutes, Gemma decides to hung up with Wendy.
Meanwhile Nero has gotten Lucius and carried him into the kitchen for breakfast. "What do you want to eat, Mijo?" he asked, waiting for his son reply. "Cereal" he answered back. He nodded getting everything ready within seconds the cereal is put down in front Lucius with a spoon and juice to drink. "There you go" the boy smiles and starts to eat.
Just then Gemma appeared in the kitchen. "Good morning, sweetheart" she smiled looking over at her stepson, he smiles back responding. "Hi, Gemma!" she bent down kissing him on his cheek. "Well I talked with Wendy and she and Jax and the kids will be over at 2 or 3, Jax has some club business to tend to first"
Nero nodded as he makes himself some coffee, he noticed Gemma getting herself bottled water from the refrigerator. "Mama, you okay?" she looked at him confused. "Yeah, I'm alright" adding. "Why?" she asked. "Because you're drinking water instead of coffee and you usually drink coffee in the morning" he said, explaining. "Oh, I don't think I should be drinking coffee right now because I'm breastfeeding I know I've had some before, but I think I should stop" he responds back. "Okay I understand, well it's your call Mama and I'll support you all the way you know that" taking a deep breath she continued speaking. "Well, I need to get started on the food for the wedding party" Nero put down his cup on the counter and walked over to his wife. "Want some help?" he asked. She replied. "Sure, we make a great team together" with that Gemma dialed Kayla's number after two rings, the younger woman picks up.
"Hello?" she said.
"Hey, Kayla, it's Gemma" the older woman answers.
"Hey" Kayla said as she goes into her kitchen pouring some juice.
"Listen, sweetheart, Jax and Wendy are renewing their wedding vows today and Nero and I are going to be busy with making the food" she explained and added. "Can you come over to help with Lucius?" she asked.
"Sure I can, be over in a few" she says putting on her shoes.
"See you soon" Gemma says.
"Okay" They both hang up.
A knock at the door startled the couple they look at each other, Gemma nods to her husband, he walked to the door opening it to reveal Kayla on the other side. "Hey Kayla, come on in" he stepped to the side letting her in. Gemma smiled, greeting the younger woman. "Hi sweetheart" Kayla smiled, answering back. "Hey" Kayla took off her jacket and Nero takes it placing it on the rack. Kayla goes right to Lucius bending down to his level and picks him up in her arms. "We'll be in the his room if you need us" she said disappearing into other room leaving the couple alone.
Once the two were gone Gemma looked over to her husband. "Well, we should start cooking" she said, placing her hands on her hips. He nodded and they start getting all the pots and pans ready. Gemma makes the sandwiches, while Nero made some macaroni and cheese, lasagna and chocolate chip cookies, Gemma also grabbed the potato and macaroni salad from the fridge. After a few hours the food is done.
3pm:
"Babe, before we bring the food out, we have to set up the tent, table and chairs in the backyard" Gemma said opening the door. "Hey you guys!" she greets Wendy, Jax and Abel stepping aside to let them in. Wendy walks past holding her wedding dress to which Gemma offers to take it from her placing on a hanger in her and Nero's bedroom and she accepts.
"The priest will be here soon, Gemma, I called before we left the house" the blonde says taking a seat in the chair.
"Okay Nero and I have to go outside and put up the tent, tables and chairs" Gemma explains as she and Nero head outside. After setting up the tables and tent Nero goes back in the house for the plastic plates, cups and silverware placing them on the tables.
Once outside, Nero set up the white table with the chairs around it his wife's help and together the couple puts up the tent carefully. Next they go back into the house to get the plates and silverware. Just then the guys arrive at the house and so does the priest, Calvin Tyler (the one Gemma and Nero used) "Hi there, Calvin welcome back" Gemma greeted him shaking his hand, the man smiles back at Gemma. "Hey Gemma, nice to see you again, I hope you and Nero are happy" the older woman smiled. "Yes we are, very happy" he replied. "That's great I'm glad to hear it" the man walks away and takes a seat in one of the empty chairs the backyard.
Gemma helps Wendy get ready in her and Nero's bedroom, while Nero gets dressed in the bathroom in pants and a tank top. After Gemma's done helping the younger woman she gets dressed herself in a t-shirt, jeans and her boots. Jax and Wendy decided to have Lucius as their ringer bearer after asking him and checking with Nero who said it was okay. After a few moments Gemma and Nero are dressed for the wedding. Jax stayed in his normal biker wear, but Wendy doesn't mind. Meanwhile Gemma and Nero are outside putting the food outside on the other table with the guys helping them, they set bottles of cold beer and non alcoholic punch as well.
3:45pm:
Wendy walks out from the bedroom and into the kitchen where Jax and Abel are. "Hey babe" she says, Jax turns around to see his beautiful wife. He smiles. "You look beautiful, darlin'" getting up from the chair, he walks over to her cupping her face, kissing her softly. "Ready to renew our vows?" he asked, she nodded. "Yep" letting Wendy go Jax as Gemma rushes back into the house to get Kayla and Lucius. "Hey you two ready for the wedding?" she asked, they nod, Kayla gives Lucius his crutches and she helped him walk outside, a few minutes later they made it and Kayla sat beside him in an empty chair.
4pm:
It's now time for the renewing of the wedding vows, the guys sat beside each other, while Gemma and Nero sat next to each other Kayla is sitting a few chairs away, Lucius is standing at the alter with his crutches. "This brings back memories of our wedding for me, baby" Gemma says looking at Nero. "Me too" he said, agreeing kissing her on the cheek. "Sweetheart, I have to admit before our wedding I considered us already married, I fell in love with you from the start" she confessed, he smiles. "I felt the same way, still do, I love you so much, Mama, always will" Gemma started crying softly wiping her eyes. She sniffles. "I love you too, baby so much, you are my soulmate" they gaze into each other eyes and kiss softly leaning their foreheads in, suddenly clearing of a throat shook them out of their awe as the priest starts speaking the couple looked up at him.
"Dearly Beloved, we gather here today to rejoin Wendy and Jax in holy matrimony as they renew their wedding vows"
Jax and Wendy turn to face each, as Jax quickly hands off baby Abel to Gemma which she gladly takes him into her arms settling him on her lap, while Abel stood a feet away from his parents.
Jax nods to the priest motioning him to continue.
"Jax and Wendy, do you promise to love, honor and cherish each other until death do you part" They both nod.
"Let's have the rings, please"
Kayla quickly rushes up to Lucius helping him stand as he held out the rings which Jax takes them into his hand.
"Jax now repeat after me, with this ring I thee wed" and put the ring on Wendy's finger.
"With this ring I thee wed" he said slipping the ring on her finger, she smiles crying softly.
The priest turned to Wendy saying. "Wendy repeat after me, with this rings I thee wed" and put the ring on Jax's finger"
"With this ring I thee wed" she slipped the ring onto Jax's finger, he smiles.
"Now you may kiss the bride"
They kiss.
"Now I pronounce to you Mr. & Mrs. Teller...again" The audience chuckled
Everyone clapped and smiled at the newly remarried couple and snapped a few pictures. Next Jax and Wendy had their first dance as an again married couple and as do Gemma and Nero, she put her head on his shoulder as he swayed her back and forth slowly, her eyes close as they continue to hold each other with Nero holding her hand into his. Once the song finishes, the reception starts with Jax and Wendy going over to get a plate of food along with Gemma and Nero. Kayla gets Lucius's plate and the guys get fill theirs up now that everyone has their food they sit down and start eating and drinking their beers with the exception of Nero, Gemma, the kids and Kayla, but all of them talk to each other as they ate.
After everyone ate their food, Gemma and Nero bring out the wedding cake placing it in the middle of the table. "Okay you two feed each other cake!" Gemma announced. They cut the cake each taking a piece feeding it to each other. Nero cut a piece for his wife bringing it to her. "Here, Mama" she smiled. "Thanks, babe" they each feed each other their cake. "Mmm, we missed this and our first dance with our wedding, sweetheart" she admitted, kissing him on the lips. "Yeah, I know Mama, but hey better late then never you know" nodding she agreed.
6pm:
Three hours later the wedding is winding down. Jax and Wendy want to be alone so they asked Gemma and Nero to watch Abel for the night which they gladly said yes. Jax put the Just Remarried Again sign on his motorcycle, next the guys decide to leave too, they kiss everyone goodbye and congratulate Wendy and Jax. Gemma and Nero take the boys in their arms, Kayla and Lucius are already inside in Lucius's room. The newly remarried couple get on the bike, Wendy handed her mother in law Abel's diaper bag and she put on her shoulder, the two kiss their baby bye and head off to spend time alone as an officially remarried couple.
Now inside the house, Gemma gently put Abel in his pack and play with his stuffed toy in Lucius's room while with Kayla and Lucius are playing a quiet game.
She turned to face her husband, mentioning. "Baby, we need to clean up the outside"
He nodded replying back. "Yeah, I know, we can do it tomorrow I don't think the tables and chairs will go anywhere"
She chuckled, responding. "Well let's at least bring in the left over food and put it in the fridge"
"Okay, Mama" he said, walking over to the kitchen door opening it for her.
They walk out in step with each other. Nero carries in the left over mac and cheese, lasagna while Gemma picks in the potato and macaroni salad and the cake, the two go back into the house closing the door behind them placing foil on the left overs and putting everything in the fridge. Next Gemma grabs a garbage bag and goes back outside to clean up the tables and the ground which is full of plastic plates, cups, silverware and beer bottles.
A half hour later the mess is all cleaned up, then Gemma throws away the bag in the garbage can and walks back into the house closing and locking the door behind her for the night.

A Week Later:January 6th10am:
Gemma and Nero are already up and dressed, they are going to go visit Talaya in the NICU. Kayla is staying with Lucius. "Baby are you ready?" Gemma yelled from the kitchen as she throws her phone, keys into her purse then put on her sunglasses. "I'm coming, Mama!" he yelled back within minutes he's there beside her. "Oh wait" she turned to him placing her hands to his chest to stop him. "What?" he asked wondering what's going on. "We should bring the car seat with us" he looked at her confused. "Why?" her hands on her hips she explains. "Because I have a feeling she's gonna be coming home with us today" He eyebrows arch. "You sure?" he questions. She nodded. "Alright I'll get it" she yells back to him. "Don't forget the dock too" Minutes later he returned with the car seat and the dock, opening the door for her with his free hand she goes out first, he follows closing the door behind him, inside hoping she's right about Talaya.
Walking to the car, Gemma slide in the passenger seat, putting on her seat belt while Nero opens the back door of the SUV placing the dock on the seat buckling it in securely then snapping the seat into place making it's on there tightly, it is. "It's in, babe" he said from the back and shuts the door.
Nero gets into the drivers seat where Gemma hands him the keys, he starts up the car and they head to the hospital. The couple arrived there 10 minutes later. Nero drives around the lot trying to find a parking spot, finally after a few minutes he finds one and parks the car turning off the engine and taking out the keys placing them in his pocket.
He unbuckles his seat belt, Gemma does the same and they get out of the car walking around to the back, Nero opens the back door getting the car seat out carrying it in his hand and shut the door. They meet up and their hands automatically go into each others gently squeezing them for support. The couple walk into the hospital nervously and at the same time happy to see their daughter again hoping she can finally come home with them and they can finally be a family.
Now inside the hospital they walk over to the elevator pressing the button waiting patiently for the doors to open after a few seconds the doors ding and open, the couple stepped in as Nero presses the button to the NICU as the doors close going up to the 4rd floor. Seconds later the elevator dinged again and opens, Gemma and Nero step off and head down the hallway.
They arrive at the NICU moments later, gown up and wash their hands. Going over to the doors. Nero presses the intercom button, a voice comes through."Can I help you?" Gemma answers. "We're here for Atalaya Padilla" the doors buzz open and the couple goes in walking slowly trying to find their daughter among all the other babies in their incubators.
After 5 minutes finally the two find their baby girl. She looks so much more human now, Gemma's so happy about that. Amy comes over greeting them. "Hey, Gemma, Nero!" "Hey" they say in unison. "How is she doing?" Gemma asks peering down at her daughter. Amy responds back. "She's doing great" adding "She's off everything as you can see and looks like baby now" Amy opens up the incubator gently taking the baby out and going over to the scale. "If she weighs over 6lbs you'll be able to take her home" Gemma laughs and cries at the same time looking at her husband as he squeezes her hand smiling. her heart is racing, but she's trying to stay calm. Amy places the baby carefully on the scale and waits for the number to come up as Gemma bites her lip nervously hoping and praying to herself that her baby girl can come home.
After what seems like forever the number pops up on the scale: "6lbs, 7oz, she can go home" Amy announced. Gemma smiles brightly clasping her hands together she's so excited her baby can finally come home, so is Nero, he kisses her on the cheek. "Our baby girl is finally coming home, Mama" Amy hands Talaya to her mother and she sits down with her in the empty rocking chair slowly rocking her. "Did you hear that baby girl, you're finally going home with mommy and daddy today" she kisses the baby on her forehead, Talaya coos at her mother voice.
Gemma continues rocking Talaya looking at Nero whose sitting in the other rocking chair watching his wife suddenly forgot they didn't grab Talaya's coming home clothes and the hat she wanted to bring her home in. "Damn baby, we forgot Talaya's clothes I wanted her to have on when we brought her home" Nero gets up from chair trying to calm her down by putting his finger to her lips. "Shh, it's okay Mama, I'll go home and get everything okay" she smiles replying back. "I love you" he smiles. "I love you too" he kisses her and adds. "Do you want me to call Kayla and Lucius to tell them she's coming home?" she just nodded as he pulled out his phone going into the hallway dialing their home number after a few rings Kayla answers.
"Hello?" the younger woman said.
"Hey Kayla, it's Nero" he said back taking a seat on the bench.
"Hey, how is Talaya's doing?" the young woman asks.
"She doin' great in fact she's allowed to come home today" he responds ecstatically.
"Wow, that's awesome, Congratulations, I'll let Lucius know" the younger woman said, inside she's happy for them.
"Well actually I have to run home because Gemma and I forgot Talaya's coming home clothes and Gem wants the hat she made for her too" he explains to the young woman.
"Oh I see, okay do you want me to tell Lucius?" she asked.
"No, I'll tell him because I'm coming back home anyway" he said chuckling softly.
"Of course, no problem see you when you get here, again Congratulations to you both" she says.
"Thanks and see ya in a few" They both hang up and Nero goes back into the NICU.
"Well I called Kayla and I'll gonna go home and get the bag and tell Lucius the good news" he said, bending down to his wife. "Okay hurry back" she whispers. "I will" he whispers gently touching his baby's little hand. "I'll see you a few minutes, Mija" he kisses her on the forehead and Gemma on the lips and walked out.
Nero arrived home 10 minutes later, opens the back door to the house, throws the keys on the counter. "Kayla, Lucius" he called out. Kayla appeared in the kitchen with Lucius whose was still sleepy. "Hi, Papi" the boy said rubbing his eyes as the younger woman put him down in one of the empty chairs in the dining room. "Hey Mijo" he greets bending down to his son's level. "I have some great news your baby sister is coming home today!" Lucius smiles happily. "Really?!" he questions not believing it, Nero nodded confirming the news. "Yeah, I just came home to get her coming home clothes Gemma wants her in when we bring her home" Nero kisses him on his cheek then goes into his and Gemma's bedroom looking for the bag of clothes after a few minutes of looking he finds it, and unzips it checking quickly to see if everything's there confirming it is he zips it up again and carries it out with him. Again he bends down to his son's level. "I'm gonna go and get Gemma and the baby and we should be home soon" he pats the boy on his shoulder. Lucius replies. "See you when you get home" Kayla smiles as he opens up the door and heads back to the hospital pick up the rest of his family.
St. Thomas Hospital:10:30am:
A half hour Nero arrives back at the hospital turning off the engine, he unbuckles his seat belt and gets out of the car, walking around to the back seat he retrieves the bag and carries it to the NICU. He briskly walks to the elevator pressing the button patiently waiting for the doors to open finally they do and he steps in pressing the button for the 4th floor, the elevator goes up for a few seconds then dings opening the doors, Nero stepped off and headed towards the NICU, he gowns up and washes his hands again. Pressing the intercom button a voice comes through."Can I help you?" Nero answered. "Here for Atalaya Padilla" the doors buzz open and he walks in where he found Gemma breastfeeding. "Hey Mama" he greeted. She looks up at him."Hey baby, she was a bit hungry" he nods. "I see that" Nero walked around to the other rocking chair to sit down placing the bag down on the floor. "I got everything" She smiles remarking. "Great, after she's done eating we'll get her dressed and ready to go home" he chuckles softly. "Home, I'd never thought we'd hear that word" she just nodded saying nothing as she's too focused on her baby.
10:45am:
15 minutes later, Talaya's done eating. Gemma's getting her ready to go home. She gently places the hat she made for her on her little head, next changes her diaper and putting on the going home outfit on her tiny body, it's a little big, but still fits as the baby gets a little fussy. "Shh, it's okay sweetheart" she soothed as Talaya quiets down. Gemma grabs the blanket she made Talaya wrapping her in it so she's warm and Nero picks up the teddy bear from the isolate as Amy snaps a quick photo of the the family for the NICU baby photos and hangs it on the wall, next both parents sign the birth certificate next the nurse prints the baby's foot placing it on the paper and just then Amy comes back to the room with a wheelchair, Gemma gently sits down in it along with baby Talaya whose now asleep in her mother's arms while Nero announces to Gemma he's gonna get the car so she and the baby don't have far to walk. Amy pushes the biker queen in the wheelchair and they head down to meet Nero.
Once outside, Nero's right there with the car, he helps Gemma out of the wheelchair, Amy says goodbye to Talaya. "I'm gonna miss you" she strokes the baby's hair lightly with her fingers then gives Gemma and Nero a hug next Nero takes the baby gently from his wife placing her in the her car seat making sure she's strapped there securely, she is and he shuts the door. Gemma slides into the passenger seat buckling her seat belt and Nero walks around getting into the drivers seat, he buckles his seat belt then starts up the engine and the new family finally heads home. As Nero is driving, Gemma is turned around in her seat just watching her baby girl sleeping peacefully.
"Welcome home, little one" she whispered, smiling happily.
