A few notes for this chapter: Again some Spanish in this chapter, translated with google. This chapter will contain sexual content. Since the time I wrote this chapter I've discovered Gemma's house has an upstairs to it so I've edited this chapter to reflect that the best I can and fixed the scenes dialogue saying the nursery is upstairs.

Once outside, Nero's right there with the car, he helps Gemma out of the wheelchair, Amy says goodbye to Talaya. "I'm gonna miss you" she strokes the baby's hair lightly with her fingers then gives Gemma and Nero a hug next Nero takes the baby gently from his wife placing her in the her car seat making sure she's strapped there securely, she is and he shuts the door. Gemma slides into the passenger seat buckling her seat belt and Nero walks around getting into the drivers seat, he buckles his seat belt then starts up the engine and the new family finally heads home. As Nero is driving, Gemma is turned around in her seat just watching her baby girl sleeping peacefully.
"Welcome home, little one" she whispered, smiling happily.
Chapter 22: New Parents, A New Family
Padilla Residence: SaturdayJanuary 7th Morning 11am:
The couple arrive home 10 minutes later. Gemma and Nero look at each other as Nero turned off the ignition. "I'll get her" she said unbuckling her seat belt. "Nero, I'm scared" she admitted. "Me too" he admits, sighing, he continued. "But we can do this Mama, let's just take it one day at a time" She nodded getting out of the car and opening the back door. Gemma unsnaps the car seat from it's dock, pulling the cover over the baby and put the blanket over top of it then carefully carried Talaya into the house while Nero walked a few steps behind his wife into the house.
Once inside she shuts the door behind her and set Talaya on the kitchen table where she uncovers her and takes off the blanket, she whispers. "We're home, sweetheart" the tiny baby is still asleep. Gemma stands there watching her baby girl's chest rise and fall. After a while she decides to get Kayla and Lucius from the bedroom so she walks in there announcing happily. "Hey you two we're home!" Kayla smiles. "Hey, where is she?" the young woman asked. "In her carrier in the kitchen" without another word Kayla gets from the bed bringing Lucius with her and they go see the newest addition to the family.
Kayla looked into the carrier at the tiny baby. "Oh, she's beautiful, Gemma!" she remarked in awe. "Thank you, baby" Gemma said, smiling. "Can I hold her?" the young woman asked, the older woman nods. "Sure, but wash your hands first okay" the other woman nods going over to the sink to wash her hands. She sat down in the chair as Gemma un clipped the safety belt from Talaya's body pulling it over top of her and gently picking her up from the carrier she starts to whimper and cry a bit "Shh, baby I know" she whispered, placing the infant in the younger woman's arms. Talaya starts to squirm so Kayla rocks her a little and she settles down while Gemma quickly grabs her camera to take pictures of the baby.
Nero goes over to the sink to wash his hands then bends down taking his daughter from Kayla.
"¿Cómo estás, eh?" (How are you doing, huh?) he whispered walking around with her.
"Te amo, Mija" (I love you, Mija" he kisses her on the forehead making his way into the nursery taking a seat in the rocking chair and rocking her.
Hearing her father's voice Talaya opened her brown eyes looking at him he smiles down at her still rocking slowly.
Just then Gemma appears in the room. "Hey, baby" she said walking over to her husband and daughter. Nero smiled at her. "Do you want to hold her?" she nodded, but stopped him. "Wait, I've gotta wash my hands first" with that she goes into the bathroom and washes her hands then returned to the bedroom where he gently placed their daughter in her arms, he got up from the rocking chair and Gemma sat down in the vacated seat as Nero walked out of the room leaving mother and daughter alone to have their bonding time. Once Nero is gone, Gemma talks to her baby girl.
"I'm so glad you're home with us" she caresses her cheek continuing to rock her taking off her little hat.
"Let's get that hospital bracelet off and mommy's gonna put it in your baby book" her mother tells her taking off the bracelet off her ankle holding it in her hand. Just then she gets a little fussy so Gemma walked over to get the pacifier placing it inside her mouth she instantly starts sucking on it and quieting down. After a few moments, Talaya falls back asleep again so Gemma places her in the swing. "Here sweetheart, you wanna swing?" she asked, pushing it back and forth slowly.
Once the baby was down again Gemma walked over to the dresser picking up Talaya's baby book and starts to write in it, first putting her name in it next writing in her weight and all the her other vital information then placed her hospital bracelet on the first blank page and put it back on the dresser for now. Nero takes the camera from Gemma and goes to the drugstore to get the baby pictures developed. He returns to the house a few minutes later with the pictures and a few cute heart baby picture frames, Gemma puts the pictures in the frames and places one of them in her and Nero's bedroom on the table beside their wedding picture and the other upstairs in the nursery.
3pm:
A cry is heard from the swing, Gemma rushes over to the sound. "Hey, Hey, it's okay" she said calmly, taking the tiny baby out of the swing placing her onto her shoulder gently rubbing her back trying to soothe her and notices the pacifier fell onto the floor, she picks it up carrying it with her in her one free hand. "Are you hungry?" she asked quietly as Talaya continued to cry. Gemma sat down in the rocker and lifted up her shirt un clipping her nursing bra exposing her breast and turns Talaya's head and body toward it trying to get her to latch on. "Come on, baby" she held her up closer to her nipple. "Baby, you can do it" she encouraged, caressing her cheek finally she latched on, Gemma grimaced softly as the baby started sucking, listening for the swallowing, she hears it rocking her as the little girl grabbed into her mother's fingers as she smiled down at her. "I love you" she whispered.
Suddenly Nero walks into the room. "Hey Mama" he greeted. "Hey baby" she greeted back looking at him. He bent down watching his daughter and wife. "She was hungry" he nodded taking her hand and caressing his daughter's cheek.
"How is she doin'?" he asked.
"She's doing fine so far" she responded back.
"I'm so happy about that" he said, standing up.
"Me too" she says, continuing to feed Talaya.
"You know she's looks like you, but she's got my lips and ears I think" Gemma remarks, looking down at her baby.
"Yeah she's does, she's beautiful" he says, smiling.
Without another word, he walked from his wife over to the dresser and picked up the baby monitors plugging in the base on the night stand then turns it on, next he plugged the other one upstairs in the nursery and turned it on.
"I thought I'd plug it in so it's ready for when she goes to bed" Gemma smiles. "Thanks, baby" he smiled back. "You're welcome" laying the walkie talkies on the dresser.
Moments later, Talaya's mouth unlatches from her mother's breast, Gemma lifts her up onto her shoulder "Babe, can you hand me a burp cloth?" he nodded quickly grabbing the cloth placing it over her right shoulder, she gently patted the baby's back. "Come on, sweetie" she whispers, standing up kissing her head. Nero goes to wash his hands and walks over to his wife holding out his hands. "Here, let me take her" gently she handed her over. "You got her?" she asked, he nodded taking his tiny daughter in his arms supporting her head with his hands, placing her onto his shoulder grabbing the burp cloth from her, placing it onto his right shoulder, he walks around with her patting her back trying to get her to burp. "Mija, Vamos, cariño, puedes hacerlo" (Come on, baby you can do it) Gemma decides to pump so Nero can help feed her as well, so she got up from the chair to get a bottle and the breast pump. She attaches the suction cup on her breast, unscrewing the bottle lid placing it onto the cup and turns it on waiting for the milk to go into the bottle within a few seconds it's filled and she takes the bottle off and places the lid back on putting it on the dresser for a moment while she turns off the pump putting it back on the floor then quickly washes off the the pacifier placing it on the dresser.
Meanwhile Nero still has his daughter in his arms, he walks into the room. "Hey Mama" he greeted her. "Oh hey" she adds. "Did she burp?" he nodded. "Do you want to feed her?" she asked, he shook his head. "Okay let me warm up the bottle, I pumped out breast milk for you" he chuckles. "Ooh, nice" she smirks walking to the kitchen with the bottle in hand, placing it in the microwave for a few minutes, it's done and she takes it out testing it on her wrist, it's perfect not too warm or too hot. She brings it to her husband whose on their bed with the baby laying on his chest, seeing the scene she cooed. "Aw!" he smiled. "Yeah, she's asleep" he whispers, she held out her hand waiting for him to take the bottle, picking her up he switches her position to his arms then he takes the bottle from her placing it in Talaya's mouth, she starts taking the bottle immediately, Nero put the cloth under her chin for the excess milk to go onto.
A Few Hours Later: 6pm
Nero is in the nursery changing Talaya's diaper while Gemma decided to go into T.M. for a few hours because believe it or not she's missed being at work and honestly she also wants to check on things and also get caught up on all the paperwork which has been pilling up for a while now. After completing some of the paperwork. Gemma misses her daughter so she dialed her husband, after a few rings, he picks up.
"Hey, babe" he says, knowing it's her.
"Hey, just checking in, how is she doing?" she asked, swirling her pen in her free hand.
"She's fine, Mama, she's asleep in her swing, she seems to love that thing" Gemma smiles hearing that.
"I'm happy to hear that" she said, adding. "I'm worried about her" she admitted.
"I know, but she's strong like you, she's gonna be alright" he says trying to make her feel better.
Gemma goes silent. "Mama?" he asks, concerned noticing the silence.
"I'm here, baby" she said, clearing her throat.
"You okay?" he asked, walking to check on his daughter in her swing.
"Yeah, I'm good, I just miss her you know" she said, leaning back in her chair.
"I know, but you'll be home before you know it to see her" he reminded her.
"I love you, Nero" she whispers.
"I love you too, Gemma" he whispered back.
The silence overcomes the couple.
"Babe?" she says.
"Yeah, I'm here" he answered back.
"I think I should go, I still have paperwork to do before leaving" she admits.
"Okay, see you when you get home" he says.
"See you later...Love you" she says.
"Love you too, Mama" he said
They hang up and Gemma goes back to her paperwork hoping she can get the rest of it done before she leaves for the night. Her stomach rumbles, she put down her pen and goes into the kitchen to get something to eat, opening the fridge tapping her manicured fingertip on the door she looks around finally deciding on a sandwich and some fruit and some lemonade. She makes her sandwich and put some fruit in a bowl, picking up a fork then pours the lemonade into a cup and takes it to her desk to eat, 30 minutes later she's finished her meal, throwing all the garbage away in the can.
Three Hours Later: T.M. 9pm
It's night time and Gemma has gotten pretty much all of the paperwork done that she needed too. She punches out, picks up her purse, keys and phone and heads home to her family. She arrived home within 10 minutes and gets out of the car and walks into the house putting her purse, keys and phone down on the counter.
Walking in the bedroom she finds her husband sitting on the bed. "Hey baby, I'm home" she whispers kissing him on the lips. "I see that, Mama, I missed you" he said kissing her back. "I missed you too" adding. "Is she in bed?" he nodded as she walks into the nursery to check on Talaya, she peered into her daughter's crib where she finds the baby sound asleep, gently she kisses her on the cheek, caressing her little face with her fingers and covering her up a bit with her blanket, whispering. "Good night, sweetheart, I love you"
She returned to their bedroom, confirming. "She's still asleep" he smiles replying. "Good, I'm glad" sitting down on the edge of the bed, she takes off her boots putting them off to the side then massaged her feet. "I better pump again and fill up a few more bottles for tonight" she announced, with that Nero gets up from the bed to get three bottles while Gemma grabs the breast pump from the floor, he returns with the bottles and lids handing them to her. "Here you go, Mama" she smiles, replying. "Thank you" lifting up her shirt, she unhooked her bra exposing her breast, she turns on the pump and attached the first bottle to the suction cup on her breast filling it up while Nero just stands there arms crossed watching her seductively, flashing her a wicked smile which she notices. The baby's calm now, but is still a little fussy so she sat down in the rocker and opens her robe a bit exposing her right breast suddenly Talaya latches onto it as Gemma looks down at her daughter whose eating, she holds onto her baby's little fingers just gazing at her. After just five minutes she stopped sucking and turned to face her mother letting her know she's finished, next she quickly grabs a burp cloth placing on her shoulder and pats and rubs her back minutes later she burps and Gemma places her back in her crib once again, the baby closes her eyes, Gemma kisses her on the cheek and turns off the light and heads back into her and Nero's bedroom.
Gemma takes off her robe laying it across the end of the bed and gets under the covers. "Sorry babe, she was wet and then a little hungry, but she's okay now" she explained. He smiles. "It's okay Mama, you're worth waiting for" They look at each other, Gemma asks. "So, where were we?" Nero gets on top of her again, but notices he took off the condom. "Babe..condom" she remarked, he let out an irritated groan. "What?" she asked, curiously. "Nothin' it's just I'm frustrated having to put on a condom all the time" he explains, looking at her. "Well, I don't want to get pregnant again" she points out, taking a breath. "I get that, but it probably won't happen again, Talaya was just an unplanned, beautiful accident" he says truthfully smiling. "Exactly and I know, but still...you never know"she trails off, kissing him.
Knowing he's not gonna win this conversation, he throws his hands up in defeat replying. Crying from the baby monitor startles Gemma and Nero out of their sound sleep. Gemma's eyes flutter open and she untangled herself from her husband's arms. "Mmm, I'll get her, babe" she says, throwing the covers off herself and getting out of the bed, padding her way into the kitchen half asleep she washes her hands in the sink then opens the fridge taking out the bottle of milk and zapping it into the microwave for a few minutes, she stops the microwave after a five minutes taking out the bottle quickly testing it on her wrist, it's fine, she walked to the nursery and picked up her baby whose still crying. "Shh, shh, it's okay baby, mommy's got you" she whispered trying to soothe the crying newborn, taking her in her arms she put the bottle inside her mouth, Talaya instantly takes it and Gemma rocks her slowly, her eyes close.
After drinking a few ounces, she stopped so Gemma quickly grabbed a burp cloth placing it on her shoulder next she picks up the baby placing her top of her shoulder patting the little girl's back gently and placing her hand over her head.
"Come on, baby" she whispers, kissing her on the head.
Just then, Nero comes into the room, walking over to his wife. "Hey, Mama" he greeted, rubbing his eyes of sleep.
"Hi, baby" she says, yawning.
"I'm trying to get her to burp" she remarks, continuing to pat her daughter's back.
"Mm hmm" he replied back.
Finally Gemma hears her burp and some milk comes up too. "Oh" she says turning the baby around wiping her mouth with the cloth.
After a few minutes, he asks. "Can I hold her?" she nodded. Before he takes her, he walked to the bathroom to wash his hands.
Returning he takes her from his wife as she gets up from the rocker, handing him her bottle and the burp cloth. "Why do you go back to sleep, I've got her, Mama?" he suggested, she just nodded, going back into their bedroom, getting back into the bed and instantly falls back to sleep again.
Meanwhile Nero is finishing up feeding his daughter then burps her. Next he changes her diaper and sits back down in the rocking chair with her, placing her onto his chest and gently rocks her as she falls back asleep and within minutes he too is sleeping.
January 8th: Sunday 6:am
Gemma stirs awake, slowly opening her eyes as her hand automatically goes to her husband's side of the bed, where she realizes it's empty and cold. She got up putting on her robe and slippers then walked upstairs to the nursery, turning on the lamp light, a smile comes across her face at the scene before her of Nero and their daughter both asleep in the chair. Before doing anything else she goes into the bathroom to brush her teeth, go to the bathroom and wash her hands.
She returns to the nursery a few seconds later, walking over to the rocking chair gently shaking her husband. "Babe, hey, wake up" she whispers, he slowly opens his eyes looking at her. "Hey Mama" he whispers back trying to sit up, but realizing Talaya's on his chest still asleep. "Oh, the little one's here on my chest" chuckling, Gemma picks up the tiny baby who opened her eyes sleepily. "Good morning, sweetheart, are you hungry?" that's when she starts crying. "That's a yes" Nero gets up from the chair slowly. "Oh!" he exclaims trying to get the creak out of his neck. "I'll go and get her bottle, I've gotta get my body moving again from sleeping in that chair all night anyway" Gemma laughs. "Serves you right, baby. you should have came to bed last night!" he turned around, exclaiming. "Hey!" he smiles shakes his head walking out of the nursery and downstairs into the kitchen while Gemma and Talaya sat down in the chair waiting patiently for her bottle.
Nero opens the fridge gets the bottle and quickly warms it up after it's done he tests it on his wrist making sure it's not too hot, it's not. He yawns returning to the nursery handing the bottle to Gemma. "Here, Mama" She smiles. "Thank you we were both waiting for this, especially this little one" He shakes his head. "I bet" he said yawning again. "Babe, go back to bed, I've got her" he nodded, adding. "I'm, but first I'm gonna check on Lucius" Gemma grabs his arms. "I got him too, go on, really we'll all be fine" They kiss. "Thanks" he retreated to their bedroom and falls right back to sleep.
Meanwhile, Talaya's still crying a little bit, Gemma gets up from the chair grabbing a bib putting it around her neck then grabbed a burp cloth placing it on her shoulder. Finally she places the baby in her arms putting the bottle in her mouth she instantly takes it. "Whoa, someone's hungry" she remarked, gently rocking her baby, smiling down at her as she eats.
A half hour later, Gemma takes the bottle out of Talaya's mouth placing her up on her shoulder and gently pats her back suddenly she lets out two burps, Gemma kisses her placing her on her lap hold onto her head then switches positions to her shoulder again walking over to the changing table placing the baby onto it, she unbuttons Talaya's outfit and un snaps her onesie from her body, grabbing a diaper and the wipes and powder she's changes her baby girl putting on a fresh one and sprinkling some powder on. "All done, sweetheart, you're changed and fed" Talaya coos as Gemma buttons and snaps her clothes back into place. She picks her back up from the table and walks around with her to Lucius's room, turning on the small lamp light, Lucius opens his eyes slowly.
"Good morning, Gemma" he greets her, yawning.
"Hey baby" she says coming over to the bed and sitting down on the edge.
"Hey Talaya" he says as Gemma turns her around to see her brother.
The baby is still cooing. Gemma moves closer to her stepson, he talks with her as she continues to coo and interact with her big brother.
"Where's my dad?" he asked after a few moments of silence.
"Asleep, he was exhausted being up with the baby all night, he fell asleep in the rocker and that's where I found him when I got up this morning"
Lucius laughs. "That's funny"
Gemma smiles. "Yeah, well..." she trails off.
Are you ready for breakfast, baby?" she asked, getting up from the bed placing Talaya back onto her shoulder.
Taking a deep breath, he responded. "I don't know"
"I'll be right back I'm going to put Talaya in her crib" she leaves without another word and heads upstairs into the nursery undoing the bars and gently placing the baby down, her eyes close again and she puts the bars back up then walked out turning off the lamp and turns on Talaya's mobile of music which plays twinkle, twinkle little star and she immediately falls back asleep once again as she whispers. "Sleep well, baby girl"
Returning to her stepson's room, she sits down at the edge of the bed once more.
"Are you ready for breakfast?" she asked once again.
"I don't know" he responded.
She smiles, patting him on his leg. "Okay, well I'm gonna go and check-"
Seconds later, the ringing of the phone interrupts them. "I've gotta get the phone"
Walking out of her stepson's bedroom she quickly rushes to the phone picking it up pressing the talk button.
"Hello?" she says walking into the kitchen to start the coffee.
"Hey Gemma, it's Wendy" the voice replied back.
"Hi sweetheart" Gemma says walking around.
"How are you doing?" the young woman asked.
"I'm alright, just exhausted, the baby is finally home" she says happily.
"Oh my god, that's so great!" she adds. "I'll have to let Jax know, can we come over to see her?" the blonde asks.
"Sure" the older woman says yawning.
Wendy chuckles. "Sorry" Gemma said. "It's okay, I understand"
Gemma sat down on the edge of her and Nero's bed as a silence befalls on the two women, until the older woman broke it.
"When did you guys think you'll be over?" she asked.
"Maybe this afternoon, sometime, I have to talk with Jax" the blonde answered.
"Okay, well let me know" she remarked.
"I will, I'll call you back, I've gotta go, the kids are awake" Wendy explains.
"Alright, sweetheart, bye" Gemma replies.
"Bye" They both hang up.
January 9th: Monday 7am
Gemma put her phone down on the night table and crawls over to her husband, stroking his hair with her manicured fingers as she kisses him on the lips softly.
"Good morning, baby" she said, crawling over to him laying down beside him. "Is this okay?" she asked motioning to her laying down, he nodded, opening his soft brown eyes, taking her hand into his kissing it, gazing into her hazel-brown eyes, he pulls a loose strand of hair away from her face.
Hearing her voice, he murmurs back a greeting. "Morning, Mama"
"Is Talaya okay?" he asked, after a brief silence, arching his hand up on his cheek.
She nodded, remarking. "She's been fed, changed and is now sleeping again"
"And Lucius?" he asked.
"He's awake, but wasn't hungry when I went in there" he smiles, resting his hand on his cheek, staring at her intensely.
"Okay" he says simply.
"Wendy called a few minutes ago wanting to come over to see Talaya" she explains.
"What about Jax?" he asked, curiously.
"Well I'm sure he's coming too, Wendy said she'd talk with him" she says, moving closer to her husband as he takes her into his arms where they intertwine their hands together as she laid down on his chest.
After a few minutes of cuddling, Gemma and Nero untangle themselves from each other, he gets up to go to the bathroom.
"I'm gonna go make coffee" she said, walking away, quickly grabbing the baby's walkie talkie with her from off the nightstand. "Okay, I'm gonna check on Lucius" she turns around and nods going into the kitchen.
Once out of the bathroom, he walked into his son's room.
"Morning, Mijo" he greets his son who smiles replying back. "Morning, Papi"
"Are you hungry?" he asks, sitting down on the edge of the his bed.
He shook his head. "Okay, let's get you up" he said, helping his son from the bed carrying him into the kitchen.
Meanwhile in the kitchen, with the walkie talkie placed on the counter, Gemma has started the coffee and then washed her hands at the sink.
"Hey, Mama" Gemma turns around to the sound of her husband's voice.
"Hey baby" she greets him, walking over to give him a kiss.
He sits Lucius down into the chair and starts to make his breakfast.
"Hey sweetheart" she says, giving him a kiss on the cheek, taking a seat in the empty chair beside her stepson.
"Hi, Gemma" the little boy says smiling, but still a bit sleepy.
Gemma suddenly got up from the chair and goes into her and Nero's room, she grabs her pill bottle from the dresser, hand on her shoulder startles her. "I figured you might need this to take your pill" Nero says handing her the glass of juice. "Thanks, babe" she takes it from as he turns around, remarking. "I gotta go back into the kitchen to finish making Lucius his breakfast" Gemma opens the bottle, throws the pill into her mouth and quickly swallows it down with the juice. "Ugh" she groans putting her hand to her stomach.
Nero places some juice and cereal down in front of his son. "Here you, go, Mijo, breakfast" he smiles replying. "Thanks, Papi" he begins to eat as Gemma comes out from their bedroom with her empty glass placing it in the dishwasher as Nero washes his hands at the sink.
A knock on the door surprises Nero, he goes over to get it. Opening the back door reveals Kayla.
"Hey" he said, letting her in.
"Hey, Nero" she replies back.
"Did Gemma call you?" he asked, taking her coat from her hanging it on the rack.
She shook her head. "No, I decided to drop by in case you and her needed help with Lucius"
He smiles remarking. "We always do, especially with the baby being home now"
The young woman nodded. "I'll go check on him" she walks away as she does Nero calls out to her. "Thank you" smiling she goes into Lucius's room.
A cry comes over the walkie talkie. Gemma and Nero look at each other. "You want to get her?" they pointed at each other asking in unison. She starts to walk away when Nero stopped her placing his hand on her wrist gently. "I got her" she nods as he headed to the nursery. Once there he picked up the crying baby carefully supporting her head, trying to calm her down.
"Shh, niña, está bien, papá te tiene" (Shh, it's okay daddy's got you) he whispered, swaying her back and forth across the floor of the nursery. "He notices her stomach is in involuntary spasms every few seconds, chuckles at the movement he remarks. "Little lady, you got hiccups, huh?" grabbing her pacifier he puts it her mouth she instantly begins sucking on it.
"Te quiero, Mija" (I love you) he switches positions from his shoulder to putting the baby in his arms, still swaying her for a bit more. Her dark brown eyes open looking up at her father, cooing as he smiles commenting. "You just wanted to be held, huh?" kissing her on the forehead, he takes her into the kitchen with him.
Two Hours Later: TuesdayJanuary 10thMorning9am
With the walkie talkie back on the table, Talaya is resting on the bed in her mother's arms laying against her chest, it's her favorite spot to keep her calm on both of her parents. Gemma's fed, changed her diaper and dressed her for the day, now she's enjoying the quietness with her daughter, gently rubbing her back, her eyes close in contentment.
The phone ringing startles her. "Babe!" she yelled from the bed, he comes rushing in. "Yeah, Mama?" he asked. "Could you answer the phone?" nodding, noticing she can't pick it up, he grabbed the phone pressing talk. "Hello?" the older man answered. "Hey Nero, it's Jax, is my mom there?" the young man said. Without a word, Nero quickly handed the phone to his wife. "It's Jax" she smiles, taking the phone from him. "Hey sweetheart, what's going on?" she asks. "Nothing much, Wendy and I and Abel are gonna be over soon" he announced. "Alright, baby, see you soon" Jax replies. "See ya in a few, Mom" They hang up with each other as Talaya yawns.
Once she hangs up the phone from her son, she turned to her husband saying. "That was Jax, they are on their way here" He smiles, remarking. "Great, Mama" Gemma sat up on the bed changing Talaya's position to her arm gently rocking her.
"Sweetie, is that better?" she asked the baby.
Talaya becomes calm, Gemma kisses her on the forehead. ten minutes later a knock at the door interrupts them. Nero pats his wife's leg remarking. "I'll get it" he gets up from the bed walking towards the back door opening the door which reveals Jax, Wendy and the kids. "Hey Mano" Nero replies giving the young man a hug, he returns the embrace. The blonde hugged the older man.
"Where's Gemma?" Wendy asked. "In the bedroom with Talaya" Nero answered back.
Jax, Wendy and Abel walk into the room where Gemma is sitting on the bed, she smiles upon seeing them.
"Hey you guys" she says.
"Hey Gemma" Wendy replied back taking a seat on the edge of the bed with baby Abel in her lap.
"Hi, Ma" Jax says smiling.
"If you all want to hold Talaya you'll have to wash your hands first" Gemma announced.
"Of course, Mom" Jax says walking back into the kitchen to wash his hands.
"Sure Gemma" Wendy comes the blondes reply. A few minutes later Nero appears in the room again walking over to the young woman holding out his arms, motioning to her, she hands over baby Abel to him while she goes into their bathroom to wash her hands.
Both Jax and Wendy come back into the room joining everyone else, they look at each other unsure of what to do.
"You go first" Wendy motions to him.
"No, you" Jax says back.
Gemma takes a deep breath looking at her son and daughter in law. "Guys, stop it!" she says, irritated, Talaya cries a bit from the yelling. "Shh, it's okay, sweetheart, mommy didn't mean that" she soothes, rocking the baby trying to calm her down again.
"Jax, take your baby sister and hold her" she snaps, deciding right then and there who will get the baby first.
With that, Jax walked over to his mother, he sat on the edge of the bed close to her as she handed him
Talaya, he gently held out his arms taking her from his mother.
"Hey little girl, I'm your big brother, Jax you remember me?" he whispers to her. Gemma smiles at the scene. Wendy takes a seat next to Jax just watching him silently with his sister. He looks at her smiling. "What?" he says. "Can I hold her now?" she asks. "No, I've still got her" he replied back, turning his body away from her. "Okay, when?" she asked as Gemma interrupts. "Hey you two, don't fight over her" Jax and Wendy both glare at the older woman saying nothing.
Gemma grabbed Talaya's pacifier handing it her son and a burp cloth which he places over his shoulder then gets up from the bed leaving the two alone with the baby while she takes a walk outside to get some air.
A little while later, Nero goes outside to get some air himself and ends up sitting on the swing that he put onto their house after they got married, once there he breaks down crying, his head is in his hands as Gemma returns back to the house, she looks over at the swing stopping dead in her tracks, her face immediately expresses concern when she comes upon her husband, silently she walks over to him placing her hand on his shoulder, he gasps.
"Hey, are you okay?" she asked, taking a seat next to him.
He's silent, sniffling rubbing his eyes.
She put her hand on his shoulder.
"What's wrong, baby?" she asked, rubbing his back.
He looked at her, his tear stained face is evident.
"Do you want to talk about it?" she asked, looking over at him
He waves her away shaking his head, no she says nothing and the couple goes silent for a bit.
After a few emotional moments, Gemma's still holding onto her husband. "I don't think I can do this" she admitted, as he stood up.
"Mama, you can do this, we'll do this together, it's gonna take some time for both of us to get used to this" he said as she gazes into his brown eyes that are still tear stained. "I'm so exhausted" she said defeated, he kisses her on the forehead. "I know" he remarks, adding. "I'm too, but I'm here just like you're here for me"
Gemma suddenly started crying, through her sobbing she speaks barely above a whisper. "I love her so much and I'm so glad she's finally home with us, but..." she sniffles, he wipes the tears from her face. "Don't do this to yourself, Mama you're strong, remember one day at a time" he says, kissing her on the lips as they both hold onto each other crying.
"Te quiero mucho mama" (I love you so much, Mama) she swallows hard and her eyes close at the sound of his voice – and his words. After a few seconds he whispers translating. "I love you so much, Mama" she opens her eyes, whispering back hoarsely . "I love you too, my pimp daddy"
The two head back inside together once they've composed themselves again, now they are feeling a lot better. "I've gotta take my heart medication, Mama" she looks at him nodding her head. "Okay, do you want me to get you some water?" he shook his head. "Nah, I got it, thanks though" she smiles, gently caressing her fingers over the scar on his chest. "Heart medication?" she questions, he nods confirming her guess, her lips lightly brush against his as their foreheads touch. "I'll go check on Talaya" without another word, she walks to their bedroom while Nero takes his medication.
Meanwhile back in the bedroom, Gemma asks. "Is she okay?" putting the walkie talkie back down on the table, Wendy nods. "Yeah, but she's been a bit fussy" Gemma goes into the bathroom to wash her hands then returns, taking the baby from Wendy's arms and into her own.
Once in her mother's arms, she calms down. "Well I guess she just wanted mommy again" Wendy remarked. Gemma smiles. "I think she's gonna be a mommy's girl" the older woman comments back to her daughter in law. "Oh no, don't let Nero hear you say that" the young woman said. Gemma chuckles, remarking. "Don't worry, he'll be fine" Gemma gently sways Talaya back and forth, soothing her. "Shh, mommy's got you now" she whispered.
9:30am:
A half hour passes, Wendy, Jax and Abel decide to leave. The family says their goodbyes and head home. Nero is cleaning up a bit while Gemma is in the nursery with Talaya, she's nursing and rocking her in the chair as she does that she decides to read her a book, grabbing one from the shelve she reads the title: Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney then opens up it up and starts to read.
Nero comes into the nursery. "Hey Mama, what are you doing?" She smiles at him, replying. "Hey Pimp daddy, I'm reading Talaya a book while I'm feeding her, she's a little hungry" he smiles caressing his baby girl's cheek with his finger.
After a few minutes of nursing Talaya stopped sucking. "Okay sweetheart, you need to burp for mommy" Nero quickly grabbed a burp cloth and handing it to her, she puts it onto her shoulder placing the baby on her shoulder gently patting her back. "Come on, baby, you gotta burp" she encouraged.
"Hey, Mama, I was thinkin' maybe we could have in house date night tonight" he suggested.
Gemma looked at him confused. "What?" he clarifies. "I mean like a date here at our house since we can't take the baby out right now and I'm sure you don't want to leave her and neither do I"
"Okay sure, it's a date" she responds back, still patting Talaya's back.
He smiles repeating. "It's a date, babe" he kisses her on the lips, then walks out of the nursery and into the bathroom to wash his hands.
Meanwhile after a few more minutes, Talaya's let out two little burps along with some spit up, Gemma wipes her mouth with the cloth.
Nero returns to the room where the baby is sitting on Gemma's lap contently. He bends down taking Talaya from her and the burp cloth placing it on his shoulder just in case. "We are gonna have a little walk around the house" Gemma chuckled. "Okay, have fun" she said as father and daughter walked out of the room.
A few moments later Nero and Talaya return from their walk. "Hey you two" she said, standing up walking over to them. "How is my baby girl?" she asked. "Fine, she's asleep" Nero gently places her in her crib, covers her up, then turns on her mobile of music and finally kisses her the forehead. They stay there for a bit just watching her sleep before both turn and walk out of the nursery turning off the light with Gemma once again taking the walkie talkie with her.
A Few Hours Later: Padilla Residence 3pm
Talaya's in her swinging in her swing in her parents room while Nero is in his son's room with Kayla and Lucius are playing games and Gemma is sitting on her bed on the phone with Tig.
"Okay, baby see you soon" Gemma said, ending the call flipping her phone back down.
Seconds later, Nero appears in their bedroom.
"Hey Mama, who was that?" he asked, walking over to her sitting down the bed.
"Tig" she said, placing her phone down on the table.
"The guys want to come over to see the baby, they'll be here in a bit" she explains.
"Yeah, okay, whose coming?" he asked.
"Tig, Rat, Bobby and I think maybe Chibs" she replies.
Meanwhile Ally Lowen is in her office doing paperwork when her phone rings.
"Hello, this is Ally Lowen" she answered.
"Hi Ally, this is Pamela Cole from the social worker's office" the woman says.
"Yes, how can I help you?" Ally replied.
"Well you put in adoption papers for Lucius Padilla to be adopted by Gemma Teller Padilla" the woman says.
"Yes I did a couple of months ago I was wondering what the hold up was for them going through" she explains.
Taking a deep breath, the Pam continues. "I have Gemma's record here and I've noticed she's got charges for-"
Ally interjected. "Yes, that's right, so what's the problem?"
"Well, actually it is a problem, I'd like to start making house calls to see how Gemma interacts with the boy" she explained.
Ally exhales sharply. "Alright, I'll let her know, but I'll tell you right now she's not going to like this at all"
"This has to be done before the papers can go through for the adoption. I'll come by the house starting on Thursday, the 12th" at 2pm" she announced.
Ally sighs heavily. "Okay, thank you" she hangs up putting the phone back on the cradle, letting out a frustrated groan.
Padilla Residence: 4pm
Tig, Rat, Bobby and Chibs are at the house, they've all washed their hands. Gemma has the baby in her arms with a burp cloth on her shoulder.
"Which one of you wants to hold her first?" she asks.
All four of the them raise their hands, she glares at them.
"One at a time, boys" she said.
"Aye, Gem, let me hold her first" Chibs said, offering.
Without a word, Gemma walked over to Chibs handing the baby to him, he gently takes her into his arms, she places the burp cloth on his shoulder.
Just then the phone rings. "I'll get it" she said, walking over the phone on the nightstand.
"Hello?" she answered, picking up the phone, pressing the talk button.
"Hi, Gemma, it's Ally Lowen" she answered.
"Lady law, what's up?" the older woman asked.
Before Ally could say anymore, Gemma interrupted. "What's the hold up on my adoption papers?" she asked.
"That's what I'm calling you about" she started.
"What-what are you talking about?" she asked, in a clearly confused and shakily voice.
"I got a call earlier from a social worker and because of your record, she needs to come by the house and see how you are with Lucius before the papers can go through" she explains waiting nervously for the older woman's reaction.
Trying to process the news she exhales sharply, sitting down slowly on the bed inside she's in shock and angry.
"I can't believe this!" she says angrily.
"I'm sorry, Gemma" Ally replies sadly.
"Lady law like you care, how could you let this happen!" the older woman snapped back.
"I didn't let this happen at all I didn't even realize this was going to be a problem" Ally retorts calmly.
She continued. "I told the social worker that your record shouldn't matter, but she said it does concerning the adoption, she won't let me put the papers through until she sees how you are with Lucius"
"Goddamn it!" she cursed angrily to herself.
"Gemma, calm down" Ally replies taking a deep breath.
"No, I won't, Lady law you don't get to tell me what to do!" she snapped back.
Ally cut in. "She'll come by on Thursday, the 12th at 2pm"
Gemma shouted back. "Fine!" and slams down the phone on the table.
Hearing his wife upset, Nero walks into their bedroom.
"Mama, hey what's going on?" he asks, joining beside her on the bed.
Taking a deep breath, she says. "That was Lowen, she's said there's a problem with the adoption papers, damn social worker found out about my record and now she's gonna come by the house to see how I interact with Lucius before she'll let Lowen put the papers through.." she continues. "A bunch of bullshit!" she shouted angrily getting up from the bed pacing around briskly.
Nero gets up stepping in front of her placing his hands on her shoulders. "Hey, hey, babe calm down" he whispers pulling her into his arms to hold her. She clings to him tightly, softly crying. After a few moments she calms down looking up at his concerned brown eyes, apologizing. "I'm sorry" he smiles at her wiping the tears from her face gently with his fingers. "It's okay" Clearing her throat, she announces. "I'm gonna go check on the baby" he nods letting her go. She quickly goes into the bathroom to wash her hands then picks up the walkie talkie once again clipping it onto her jeans.
Gemma walked into the other room where the guys are with Talaya to Bobby now holding her. "Hey boys, did you all get to hold her?" she asked. They nodded, as Bobby hands Talaya back to her mother, the baby starts to fuss a little, she takes the burp cloth placing it on her shoulder and pacifier. With the baby in her arms she sways her a little bit while walking to the kitchen to wash off the pacifier in the sink placing it in her mouth. "Here you go, sweetheart" she stops fussing and goes back to sleep.
6pm:
Sometime later, the boys have now left and Gemma is again feeding Talaya in the nursery while Nero is in his son's room talking with Kayla and Lucius as Lucius and Kayla are in his room reading a book together.
"So you two are gonna have to fend for yourselves because Gemma and I are gonna have an in house romantic date tonight" Nero explained.
"Okay, I'll make Lucius and I dinner...unless you'd like to go out to dinner?" she asks, looking at the young boy.
"I want to go out!" exclaiming happily.
Kayla looked at Nero, who just nodded his approval.
"Okay out to dinner it is kiddo, I'll bring you your coat and crutches, be right back" she said, getting off the bed.
Meanwhile in the kitchen, Nero is getting his and Gemma's romantic dinner ready. He's making steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. While everything is cooking he fetched two candles from the other room, lights them and placed them in the middle of the table, next he goes to the fridge taking out the milk pouring it into two wine glasses placing them onto the table.
Kayla is now back in Lucius's room, helping him put on his coat once that's done, she carries him and his crutches out with her and they head to dinner.
"By you two, see you later" Nero said, closing the door behind them.
Sighing heavily, Nero whispers to himself. "Finally alone" Again he checks on the food, it's still not done quite yet so he walks to the nursery where Gemma is again feeding their daughter.
"Hey Mama" he said.
"Hey" she responded back.
"Kayla and Lucius went out to dinner so I'm making us our romantic dinner date I promised" he explains.
She smiles brightly replying. "Oh, that's great and I can't wait for our date!"
"The kitchen smells great" she said, adding. "What are you making?" she asked.
"Steak, potatoes and green beans" he said.
"mmm, yum!" she exclaimed.
6:15pm:
A few minutes later, Nero goes to check on the food again, the green beans are done so are the potatoes, but the steaks need a bit longer, so Nero stays in the kitchen watching them.
6:20pm:
Finally the steaks are done, so he turns off the stove and oven. He gets two plates down from the cupboard placing their food onto them, then opens the drawer to get forks and butter knives. He set their plates onto the kitchen table everything's all set now Nero goes to get his wife whose in the nursery.
"Hey Mama, dinner's ready" he said, walking into the nursery
"Okay let me just finishing nursing her and I'll out there in a few minutes" she says, standing up from the chair.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"No" she admitted, knowing what he was really asking.
"Can we talk about this later?" she asked, changing the subject.
"Yeah" he responded, walking out of the room leaving mother and daughter alone once again.
A few minutes later, Talaya rolled her head away from her mother's breast letting her know she's done. "Okay sweetheart, you've got to burp for mommy okay" she says placing the burp onto her shoulder and switching the baby's position upright on the cloth gently patting her back while she walks around the room.
Gemma continues patting Talaya's back, encouraging her. "Come on, baby, burp for mommy" she rubs her back soothingly. Within a few more seconds Talaya let out two burps, Gemma smiles, praising her little girl. "That's my little girl" she kisses her as the baby laid her head against her mother's neck.
She laid the baby down on the changing table gently. "Okay, sweetie let's see what we are gonna dress you in for the night" the baby coos at her mother's voice. Gemma goes over to Talaya's dresser pulling out a few of her nighttime outfits, she settles on her little pink under shirt and white butterfly one piece, next she gets a diaper and the wipes setting everything down on the changing table she takes off the baby's clothes and her diaper gently wipes her down with a wipe then places it in the diaper pail next to the table. "Does that feel better?" she asked her baby who looks at her mother happily.
She picks up the baby whose now naked and is now getting a bit fussy so she walks around with her for a bit trying to calm her down, whispering. "Shh, it's okay" five minutes later she settles Talaya back onto the table gently rubbing her belly which still has her umbilical stump in her belly button and traces the scar on her chest with her fingers, the baby is now calmed. Gemma kisses her on the cheek, next she opens the diaper then lifts up Talaya putting the diaper under her and sprinkles a little powder on her then closes the diaper sticking the tabs on, she quickly washes her hands with a baby wipe throwing it in the trash next she gets her baby dressed for the night.
Talaya cooed as her mother picks her up once again placing her in her arms she walks into her and Nero's bedroom place her in the bassinet putting the pacifier in her mouth moving it around a little bit after a few seconds she takes it and immediately becomes quiet. "I love you, mommy's gonna go eat okay, be right back" she whispers leaving the room.
Walking into the kitchen, Gemma says. "Sorry, I'm late for dinner, had to finish feeding and changing the baby, she's fine now and in her bassinet" Nero smirks at her, pointing to her shoulder. "What's wrong?" she asked, confused. "You gonna burp me or somethin'?" he retorts jokingly. She scoffed at the joke, . "Don't be an asshole" she shot back incredulously, throwing the burp cloth at him which ends up on the floor. "Hey!" he shouted playfully picking it up and placing it down on the side of the counter, she laughs softly.
She smiles, gushing at the scene, exclaiming. "Baby, this is amazing" Nero pulled out her chair for her, and she sat down in it. "Thank you!" he smiles back at his wife. "You're welcome" he then sat down across from her, they eat in silence, just enjoying their alone time and each other.
"So" Nero said, breaking the silence between them.
"So" she repeated, making eye contact with him.
"How's your work going at T.M.?" he asked, taking a bite of his steak.
Taking a deep breath, she responds. "Well, since the baby I haven't really thought about it"
"How's your work going?" she asks.
"Since the baby's home I haven't-" he stops looking down at his food.
"I know what you mean" she cut in.
They continue eating and are just content with the peace and quiet when Gemma spoke up.
"Babe, this date was great even though it's in the house I still loved it because we're together" she smiles taking his hand into hers.
"I love it too, Mama and you're welcome you know I always want to make you happy" he said, smiling at her caressing her cheek with his fingers.
"I love you, Mama" he says.
"I love you too, my Pimp daddy" she said, smirking.
A half hour later, the two are done eating their meals. Nero takes their plates and silverware placing them into the dishwasher turning it on next, he blows out the candles putting them back where they were before, comes back into the kitchen and cleans it up a bit by wiping down the counters and stove while Gemma goes to check on Talaya in their bedroom.
Just then the back opens and closes. Kayla and Lucius are back from their outing. Nero took their coats placing them on the rack.
"Hey guys, how was dinner?" he asked.
"Good!" Lucius exclaimed happily.
"Great" Kayla said, handing Nero his son's crutches where he places them against the wall out of the way.
Kayla carries the boy into his room and the two settle in for the night.
Two Hours later - 8pm:
Gemma and Nero are in their bedroom getting ready for the bed, it's been a long day for the both of them and they are so exhausted. Talaya is now asleep in her bassinet with her pacifier still in her mouth, they decide just let her sleep in there tonight so it'll be easier when she wakes up during the night. she gently moves the bassinet over a little from the bed. She yawns. "I'm so tired" she emphasized as Nero rubs his eyes. "Me too, Mama" he said agreeing, Gemma un clips the walkie talkie handing it to Nero and he puts it back down onto the table beside the baby monitor, then quickly checks on Kayla and Lucius they are already sleep, chuckling to himself at the scene."Guess it was a long day for you guys too" he whispers turning off the light and closing the door.
He heads back to his and Gemma's bedroom where they get dressed in their clothes for nighttime, brush their teeth, and check on the baby. "Good night, baby girl" Nero whispers, caressing her tiny hand, he watching her for a moment to make sure she's still breathing, she is as Gemma whispers. "I love you" stroking her soft dark brown hair with her fingers, suddenly she felt her breasts they are engorged. "Shit!" cursing quietly to herself remembering she needs to pump, so she walks into the nursery sat down in the rocker, lifts up her shirt and un clips her nursing bra exposing her breasts, turning on the pump, she put the section cup on her breast and attached a bottle to the pump waiting for the milk to come out after a few seconds it does then does another bottle once she's done she turns off the pump and unscrews the bottles from the pump and puts the lids on them and clips her bra back into place, walks out of the nursery and to the kitchen placing the two bottles in the fridge then walks into her side of the bed and the two get in under the covers.
Once in bed they sit up, silence befalls them for a few minutes when Nero breaks it.
"Babe, do you want to talk about it now?" he asked, looking at her.
"Okay" she replied, nonchalantly knowing exactly what he's talking about.
He waits patiently for her talk. After a more few minutes of silence she does.
"I'm not okay, Nero" she confesses, looking down at the quilt on their bed.
"I know, Mama" he said, taking her hand into his placing his finger under her chin getting her to look at him.
"How could this happen?" she questions, staring into his soft, concerned brown eyes.
"Why is this happening?!" comes her next question in a furious tone.
"They don't trust me!" she whispered, her voice laced with a mixer of frustration and anger.
"I'm the dirty biker whore with a record that's all they see me as! she shouts, her head quickly snaps looking to the baby hoping she didn't wake her up thankfully she's still sound asleep.
"I don't, Mama, but I do see you" he says truthfully smiling at her as his thumb. caresses her cheek.
"Shh, it's gonna be alright" he whispered, comforting her rubbing her arm as she softly starts to cry,
"Hey, come on, baby don't..." he said, trailing off, pulling her close to him.
"We'll get through this too okay, I know they'll let you adopt him" he said as she clings to him and he holds her.
She looked up, her tear stained face breaks his heart. "Hey te quiero mucho" (Hey, I love you so much)
He continues to hold her softly whispering words to try and make her feel better. A while later, she stopped crying and looks up at him again which he wipes her eyes with his fingers, her eyes close and she swallows hard, after all this time his soft touch still makes her fall in love with him all over again.
"I love you, too" she says.
"It'll all work out, babe" he says reminds her.
Taking a deep breath then replying. "I hope you're right" still not believing him, but inside hoping he is right.
They slide their heads down onto their pillows still in each others arms, Gemma closes her eyes barely able to mumble an "I love you". Nero's eyes close seconds later, he mumbled back. "I love you too, Mama" And with that the two new parents are finally asleep.
