Finally this chapter will contain sexual content *so read at your own risk* Since the time I wrote this chapter I've discovered Gemma's house has an upstairs to it so I've edited this chapter to reflect that the best I can and fixed the scenes dialogue saying the nursery is upstairs.
FYI: I want to thank my friend Micheala for the idea of putting a bit of drama into Gemma's adoption of Lucius. I'll be beta-ing the rest of this story on my own. That said I'm so sorry I haven't posted up any new chapters in awhile I definitely haven't forgotten about this story by any means it's just my motivation hasn't been the best lately, but I think it's back now and I've been writing again on these next few chapters so hopefully I'll at least be able to post something new soon. I hope my readers will stick with me because there's a lot more to come for the Padilla family.

2pm:
A knock at the back door startles Gemma, she looks at her husband nervously, swallowing hard. They get up from the floor and go to the kitchen together. He squeezes her hand tightly for support.
"Oh god Nero, I don't think I can do this" she whispers.
"Mama, you have to you know that" he says, her eyes close, exhaling sharply.
Opening her eyes, she nods slowly making her way toward the door, her hand shake slightly. She turns back to her husband, he gives her a small nod.
"I can't believe I have to do this" she whispered to herself, sighing heavily she turns the door knob opening it to reveal a tall long haired blonde woman holding a brief case standing there.
"Gemma, Teller Padilla?" the woman said, with a smile on her face.
"Yes?" she answered back, calmly.
"I'm Pamela Cole, the social worker for your home visit concerning the adoption" she said, extending her hand out.
Chapter 24: Visitas a domicilio y chequeos(Home Visits & Check-ups)
Nodding Gemma moved to the side letting the other woman in.
"It's nice to meet you" she said.
""Nice to meet you, too" Gemma said, shaking her hand.
"This is my husband, Nero" the older woman says, looking at him.
"Hi, Nero, it's great to meet you" They shake hands.
"Hey there" he said.
The three of them walk through the kitchen and into the bedroom where Pam notices the baby on the floor.
"Whose the little one?" she asked, curiously.
"That's our daughter, Talaya, she was born in November, but has been NICU until now" Gemma responded.
"She's beautiful" Pam commented.
"Thank you" Gemma replied once again.
"I'll take care of her, Mama" Nero chimes in.
"Thanks" she smiles.
Gemma takes Pam into Lucius's bedroom where Lucius and Kayla in there coloring together.
"Kayla, this is Pam, the social worker" Gemma says. Adding "This is Kayla, Lucius's caregiver"
"Hi, Kayla" Pam greeted her.
"Hello" the younger woman responded.
"I think I'll go and see if Nero needs help with Talaya" she turned to Gemma asking "Is that okay, Gemma?"
"Sure, sweetheart thanks" Kayla got up and left the room leaving the three alone.
Gemma turned to Lucius "This is Pam, baby she's gonna watch us for a bit okay" she explained.
Lucius responds "Okay"
Pam chimed in. "And take notes" Gemma turned her head glaring at her.
The social worker took a seat on the bed and opened her brief case taking out a notebook and pen clicking it on, ready to take notes.
Gemma sat down next her stepson, they both smile at each other.
"Well sweetheart, do you want to play a game?" she asked.
"Sure!" he says happily.
"What kind of game?" she asks.
"Cards...Uno" she smiles.
"Okay" she says, getting up from the bed to look for the cards.
Looking around she doesn't find them, turning around to her stepson, hands on her hips she spoke up.
"Lucius, sweetheart, do you know where the Uno cards went?" she asked.
"No" he responded simply.
"Well, I'll check around here" she said, still looking.
Looking around a bit more she finally spotted them on one of the shelves in the room. Grabbing the cards she walks over to the bed once again and sat down.
She picks up the cards shuffling them and then deals back and forth to both of them faced down then helped him put the cards in his hands faced towards him. He puts down two matching cards in the pile as does Gemma. They continue playing Uno for the next hour with Lucius wining the game as Pam has continued scribbling down notes onto her notebook.
"Baby, what you want to do next?" she asks her stepson, smiling.
"Read me a story!" he answered.
"Okay sure" she said, looking for a book from the shelve.
"What book do you want me to read?" she asked.
"I don't care" he says.
After looking through all the books she picks out Pax by Sara Pennypacker
"What about this book?" she asks, holding it up.
"Okay!" he exclaims happily.
2:30pm:
Gemma goes back to the bed and sat down again, she moves over from the edge, put on her reading glasses, opens the book and started to read as Lucius listens intensely. Half hour later the story is done as Pam has written down the last of the notes on her notepad.
Meanwhile back in his and Gemma room, Nero has washed his hands and is playing with his daughter on the floor while she's cooing happily. Suddenly the baby starts to cry.
"Hey little one, are you hungry?" he asked, picking her up supporting her head in his hands.
Hearing the baby cry, Kayla walks into the room.
"Hey Nero, did you need help with her?" she asked, walking into the Gemma and Nero's bathroom to wash her hands.
"Nah, I got her, but you can get her bottle and warm it up, I think she's hungry" he said.
"Okay, be right back" the younger woman says, walking from the bedroom and to the kitchen, opening the fridge she grabbed the bottle of breast milk and put it in the microwave for a few minutes.
After a few minutes, Kayla stops the microwave and opened it taking out the bottle and tested it on her wrist, it's not too hot nor too cold, she walked back to the room and handed the bottle to Nero. "Here you go" she said.
"Thanks" he smiles at her.
"I'll get you a burp cloth" she said.
"Thanks!" he yelled.
She returned seconds later with the cloth handing it to him, he places it on his shoulder switching his daughter's position to his arms and put the bottle in her mouth, she instantly takes it, Nero gets up from the floor with his daughter still in his arms and walked over to the bed and sat down on the edge rocking her as she continues eating.
A while later, Pam and Gemma come out of Lucius's room and into the kitchen. Pam looked at the older woman and spoke. "Well, so far I think your a great mother to the child, but I will still have to make a few more visits here to be sure, I'll call you to set up another appointment in a month" she explains, Gemma glares at her, but nods in understanding, she opens the door and lets her out shutting the door behind.
She leans her back against the door, breathing a sigh of relief. "Thank god that's over..for now" she whispered to herself. After collecting herself she walked back into her and Nero's bedroom, where she smiles at the scene before her. "Aw, daddy's little girl" she commented. Nero looked up at her commenting back. "Yeah, I'll say" he said, smiling.
"Do you want me to take her?" she asked.
"No Mama, I've got her" he says, reassuringly.
"How you doin?" he asked, concerned.
"I'm relieved it's over now" she responded.
"I bet" he said.
"So what did she say?" he asked, curiously.
"Well she said, I'm doing a great job with Lucius so far, but she still needs to come here for a bit longer and that she'll call me and set up another appointment in a month" she explained. Hearing that he looks at her sadly. "Baby, I'm sorry" She waves off the comment off. "It's okay" she whispers. After a few moments Talaya stops sucking the bottle is pretty much empty now, he switches her position to above his shoulder he pats her little back gently to get her to burp within a few seconds she burps twice.
Gemma walks over to the side of my bed and got the phone to call St. Thomas hospital. After a few minutes the receptionist answers.
"4th floor, Obstetrics, can I help you?" Nurse Trisha says
"Hi, this is Gemma Teller Padilla and I want to make an appointment with Dr. Shyer for my postpartum checkup" I said.
"Okay, sure, Gemma" the woman says, happily.
"Let's see...I'm going to put you down for January 21st at 2pm – 2 weeks from now" Trisha says.
"Thank you" the older woman said.
"Is there anything else I can help you with?" she asked.
"No, thanks" she answered back.
"Okay see you in 2 weeks, bye" the other woman said.
"Bye" Gemma hung up the phone, putting it on back down on the kitchen table then washes her hands at the sink.
"She walked back into the bedroom again and sat down next to her husband and daughter.
"Well I made an appointment for my postpartum check up for 2 weeks from now" She said.
"That's good, Mama" he smiled. "When?" he asked. "January 21st at 2pm" she responded.
"Can I have her now?" she asked.
"Sure, here you go, she fed and burped now" he tells her.
Gemma takes her daughter into her arms and rocks her a bit, she kisses her the forehead.
"You wanna swing, baby?" she asked.
Gemma walked over to the swing and gently places Talaya in it, turns it on and pushes it back and forth slowly.
She sat down on the bed next to her husband and picks up her sewing basket and start to knit.
"Hey Mama, what are you knitting?" he asked, curiously.
"I'm going to make Talaya another blanket with butterflies and teddy bears" she said.
"Mm-hmm I bet it's gonna be cute" he remarked.
"It is" she replied. "Talaya's in her swing for a bit" she added.
"I think I'll go and check on her" he says, getting up from the bed and if on cue the baby starts to cry.
"I'll get her" he said.
"Thanks, baby" she says continuing to knit.
He walks over to the swing and bends down in front his daughter "Hey Mija, what's wrong, huh?" he asked picking her up into his arms rocking her, she stops crying as he walks around the house with her into his arms.
Two Weeks Later: January 21st 10am:
Gemma awakens first to the sound of crying over the baby monitor. She slowly rises up from the bed, putting on her robe closing it as she walks to the bathroom still half asleep to wash her hands once that's done she goes to the nursery "Hey baby girl. Mommy's here" she whispers, picking her up carefully "Are you hungry?" she asks, taking a seat in rocking chair, untying her robe and unbuttoning the first few buttons of her shirt a little then un clips her bra turning Talaya toward her breast "Come on, baby you can do it" she encourages a few moments later she finally latches on, she grimaces a bit in pain "There you go, good girl" she praises her, caressing her cheek with her fingers rocking her as she continues to eat.
Back in their bedroom, Nero's eyes have fluttered open "Mm" he whispers half asleep, sitting up in the bed his eyes travel over at his wife's side of the bed, it's empty, getting out of the bed he goes to the nursery
"Hey Mama" he said, walking further into the room.
"Hey, babe, she's hungry" she answers back, switching Talaya to her other breast.
He smiles "I can see that"
"I have a postpartum appointment today at 2pm with Dr. Shyer" she reminds him
"I remember, I'll watch her" he says
"Did you hear that, baby girl?" she smiles down at her and continues speaking "daddy's gonna watch you" she whispers
Talaya stops sucking "Baby, can you hand me a burp cloth?" she asks, he grabs the cloth handing it to her "Thanks" she says placing it over her shoulder, she picks up the baby placing her onto her shoulder and starts patting her back "Come on, sweetheart" she encourages, standing up from the rocker walking around the room.
"Babe, I'm gonna go wash my hands, be right back" he tells her.
"Okay" she said, still patting the baby's back
He walks back out of the nursery through their bedroom and into the bathroom turning on the water at the sink he washes his hands after a few minutes he dries them on the towel and goes back to the nursery.
"Hey Mama, let me have her" he said, holding his hands out
She handed Talaya to him placing the cloth on his over his shoulder. "I'm gonna pump" she announces.
"Alright" he pats her little back trying to get her to burp.
Gemma sits back down in the rocking chair "Baby, can you hand me two bottles?" she asks
"Yeah, hang on" he says, grabbing two empty bottles from the bags in the kitchen walking back to the nursery handing them to her "Here you go" she takes them "Thanks" he leaves the room walking around with Talaya patting her back still "Come on, Mija" he whispers in her ear, she finally burps twice with some spit up, he turns her around wiping her mouth and holds her his arms swaying her back and forth as her eyes slowly close and she falls back asleep again.
Upstairs in the nursery Gemma is standing up from the chair taking off her robe letting it slide off her body then takes off her shirt un clipping her bra she places the suction cups on her breasts and unscrewing the lids off the bottles then puts them on the cups turning on the pump letting the bottles fill up and after a few minutes they are filled. She takes off the cups, unscrews the bottles putting their lids back on and turns off the pump moving it over to the side then clipping her bra back up, buttoning her shirt and putting back on her robe again, but this time not closing it walking out of the nursery bottles in the hand she puts them into the fridge.
"Baby, I put the bottles in the fridge for you!" she yells from the kitchen.
"Thanks, Mama" he shouted back from in the bedroom
"Shit, I've gotta take my pill" mumbling to herself. She quickly grabbed the pill bottle from off the counter opening the cap pouring the bottle out in the palm of her hand one pill falls out she pops it into her mouth quickly grabbing a glass of water from the kitchen sink she drinks the water tipping her head back swallowing the pill, groaning placing her head onto her stomach. She makes herself some toast and pours some orange juice to drink for breakfast and eats and drinks it in the kitchen quickly.
After her pill is taken and breakfast is eating she comes back into the bedroom and lays down next her husband and daughter
"Hey you two" she said, looking at them both happily.
"Hey Gem" he smiles
"I have a little time before my appointment it's only – she looked at the clock - "11am" she remarked.
"I'm gonna go back to bed for a bit, wake me up at 1 or so, but first I need to pee" she said.
"Okay, Mama I will, have a good sleep" he says.
She gets up and goes into the bathroom and pees really quickly, then washes her hands good coming out of the bathroom and lays back down on her side of the bed closes her eyes and quickly falls asleep.
He gets up from the bed walking over to the bassinet carefully placing Talaya into her bed "Sleep well, baby girl, I love you" he whispers, kissing her on the forehead and covers her up a little, placing the cloth on the table and laying back on his side of their bed.
A Few Hours Later: Afternoon: 1:30pm:
Nero awakens looking at the clock on the bedside table "Mm" he groans. "Mama, wake up" he shakes her gently on her shoulder, she mumbles incoherently "Baby, it's 1:30" he said as her eyes flutter open looking at him "Hey, I'm up" she said, sitting up rubbing her eyes of sleeping and yawning. "Thanks for waking me up" she smiles "You're welcome" he says, kissing her on the lips. A cry comes from the bassinet, Gemma starts getting up from the bed, but he stopped her "I got her, Mama" he says, getting up walking the few steps to the bassinet "Hey Mija" he whispers, smiling "Let me wash my hands and I'll be right back" he tells her as her eyes open a little.
He walks into the bathroom turning on the water at the sink, he puts soap on his hands and washes them good after a few minutes he returns the bedroom and picks up his daughter "What's wrong?" he asks as a smell hits his nose "It looks like someone needs changing" he remarks, taking her into the nursery laying her on the changing table he undresses her and takes off her diaper, closing it up putting it into the garbage pail at the side of the changing table "Is that better?" he smiled grabbing a fresh diaper from underneath the changing table he opens the wipes taking a few out wiping down her area really good, then lifts up her legs putting the diaper under her and closing the tabs, he then picks her up walking over to the dresser opening it up and picking out some new clothes for her to wear, looking through the clothes decided on white undershirt, little jeans and a butterfly t-shirt, and some white socks taking them out he walks over to the changing table laying her back down on it and starts getting her dressed, a few minutes later she's dressed and ready for the day. "All done, baby girl" he announces.
He picks her up once again taking her back into their bedroom placing her the bassinet with her pink pacifier putting it into her mouth she instantly starts sucking on it happily.
"She's dressed and changed for the day, Mama" he tells her getting up from the bed going into the kitchen putting the empty bottle into the dishwasher
"Great!" she yells back
After a few more minutes she gets up from her bed going to her dresser to get some clothes to wear picking out some jeans and one of her biker t-shirts, a satin lace nursing bra and panties, socks and boots going into the bathroom she changes into the clothes, lastly putting on her socks and boots. A half hour later her clothes, socks and boots are on, her hair is brushed and put up out of her face, make up is on, teeth brushed, her hands are washed good and she spritz some of her and her husband's favorite perfume on her body, finally she opens the door to the bathroom and comes out.
Nero's back in their bedroom sitting on the edge of the bed, the scent of her perfume comes to his nose "Mm, baby my favorite perfume" he remarks, smiling up at her "I know" she smiles at him walking over to him pulling him up with her kissing him passionately slipping her tongue into his mouth as his tongue goes into hers as she moans softly "Mm, God, baby" she whispers they stumble the few steps close to the wall and he pushes her back against it lifting up her shirt touching her breasts softly, squeezing her nipples gently she moans. "That feels amazing" she remarks, closing her eyes in pleasure. "We...we've gotta to stop babe" she says, breathing heavily, swallowing hard, he let's go of her, but kisses her neck gently biting and nibbling, she bites her lip, but reluctantly pulls away seconds later, nuzzling a bit in his neck. "I really do want this so badly, but we can't" she stresses, kissing him quickly, he nods in understanding "Tonight?" he questions. "Sure" she smiles. "Bye, love you, see you later, call me if you need anything or have any problems" he nods, letting go of her for real this time and she walks into the kitchen grabbing her phone, keys and purse then walks back into the their bedroom to her daughter's bassinet "Hey baby girl, mommy's gotta go for a bit, but I'll be back later okay, you be good for daddy, I love you and I'll miss you" she says, bending down kissing her on the forehead leaving the room, Nero walks her to the kitchen kissing her one last time, opening the door she walked out heading to her car getting in and buckling up he watches her get in, pull out and leave the house then shuts the door behind him going back into their bedroom with his daughter already missing his wife like crazy.
St. Thomas Hospital: 1:45pm:
Gemma arrived at the hospital 20 minutes later, she turns off the ignition taking the keys out, unbuckles her seat belt, grabs her purse, throwing her keys and phone into her purse, getting out of her car walking into the hospital and goes to the reception desk.
"Hi" she says
"Hi, may I help you?" the lady asks, looking up at her
"Yeah Gemma Teller Padilla, I have an appointment with Dr. Shyer at 2" she answers
The receptionist scans the list of appointments for the day looking for Gemma's name on it, finally the younger woman finds it.
"Ah yes, Gemma, got it, have a seat over in the chairs and a nurse will call you soon okay" she says, smiling.
"Thank you" she says, walking over to the chairs and sits down
While waiting Gemma picks up a magazine from the different ones scattered around on the table and starts flipping through it to pass the time hoping the nurse will call her soon.
Gemma reads through a few of the magazines and just when she thinks she can't take anymore magazine reading...
"Gemma Teller Padilla" the nurse calls out looking up at the patients in the chairs
"Thank god" she whispered to herself standing up, grabbing her purse walking over to the nurse following her.
The nurse opens room 4 and goes in with Gemma "Please, sit down on the table and Dr. Shyer will be with you soon" she instructs walking out of the room closing the door behind her. Gemma sits down on the table nervously waiting for Dr. Shyer to arrive.
While waiting for the doctor to come her phone starts ringing, she stands up, goes over to the chair grabbing her purse unzipping it taking the phone out flipping it open glancing at the caller ID, when she sees who it is a smile crosses her face and she answers.
"Hey baby" she says.
"Hey Mama did you get to the hospital okay?" he asks, while keeping a close eye on his daughter whose still in her bassinet wiggling about happily with her pacifier in her mouth.
"Yeah I'm here in the examination room now waiting for the doc to come in" she explains.
"That's good. Gem I'm glad you got there safely" he tells her
"How's the baby?" she asks
"She's fine, still in her bassinet happy" he responded, smiling down at her.
Gemma smiles hearing that "Aw, my baby girl, I miss her so much right now" she coos
"Mama, you'll see her soon" he reminds her.
"I know" she says
"I love you, baby" she tells him
"I love you, Gem" he says back
Just then Dr. Shyer walks into the room "Hey Gemma" she says. Gemma holds up her finger putting away from her ear a minute "Just a second" she whispers placing the phone back up to her ear again
"Baby, the doctor's here so I have to go, bye" she explains
"Okay, bye see you later" he says, hanging up, she hangs up holding onto her phone.
"Sorry" she apologizes.
"It's okay" the doctor smiles.
"So how's everything going with you and baby Talaya?" she asks, sitting down in the chair
"Everything's fine and she seems to be doing well so far" she smiles at her
Meanwhile back at the Gemma and Nero's, Nero has put Talaya on her play mat and is playing with her, he reaches over for her pink rattle shaking it in front of her, her head doesn't turn to the sound, Nero immediately becomes confused and concerned about this.
Nero gets up instantly from the floor grabbing his phone calling Gemma
Back at the hospital Gemma and Dr. Shyer are still talking
"So I'm glad the baby and you are doing fine and I'd love to see her whenever you get the chance" she says, smiling.
Gemma smiles about to speak when suddenly her phone rings, turning her phone over seeing it's her husband she answers "Hey baby"
"Hey Mama, I thought I'd call you to tell you I think there's a problem with Talaya" he starts
"What do you mean there's a problem?" she ask, in a bit of panic
"Well when I was playing with her down on the playing mat I shook her rattle and she didn't turn her head to the sound at all" he explains
"Uh okay did you try and call her name?" she asks, taking a deep breath
"No I didn't" he admitted
"Try that and I'll stay on the phone with you" she suggests
"Okay" he said, goes over his daughter bending down looking at her as she plays "Talaya" he calls to her, she doesn't look at him, he sighs heavily, but keeps on trying "Talaya, it's daddy" he says again watching her closely again she doesn't look at him at all.
"Babe, that didn't work" he confirms.
"Oh my god" she says, inside she's scared. "I'll call you back" she said, hanging up.
"Any concerns or questions, Gemma?" she asks, looking at her.
"No..yes" she responds, looking at her
"What is it?" She asks
"Was Talaya's hearing checked after she was born?" Gemma asks
"I believe so yes, let me check on that, hang on" she says, getting up quickly and going up to the NICU to grab Talaya's chart.
She returns a few minutes later with her chart opening and looking through it "Uh yes OAE normal screening was done before and after the ototoxic drugs were given" she closes the file putting it down on the desk "Why?" she asks, curiously
"I just was wondering that's all" she responds, clearing her throat
"What's OAE normal screening mean?" Gemma asked, curiously
"It's a screening we do to check a baby's hearing" she explained
She nodded "I understand"
"Is Talaya having a problem?" she asks.
She shakes her head "Uh no, no" she responded, taking a deep breath
"Thanks for everything, doc" she says. "No problem, glad to help" The doctor replies.
Gemma grabbed her purse, keys and phone and leaves the room and walks out of the hospital to head back home.
Returning home 10 minutes later, she pulled into the driveway, turning off the ignition unbuckling her seatbelt she opens the drivers door, grabbing her keys, purse and phone getting out shutting the door and walking to the back door opening it, she steps into the kitchen placing her purse, keys and phone down on the counter and closes the door behind her.
"Baby, I'm home!" she announces
Nero walked into the kitchen giving her a hug "Hey Mama, we missed you" he says
"I missed you guys too" she wraps her arms around embracing him
They let go of each other after a few minutes
"How is she doing?" she asks.
"See for yourself she's still on the play mat" he said.
She walks through the kitchen and into their bedroom looking her daughter whose playing, she sits down on the floor grabbing her hand holding it.
"Talaya, hey it's mommy, sweetheart" she calls out to her, the baby looks up at her toys not giving any eye contact to her mother, she sighs heavily looking at her husband "We have a big problem" she concludes, he nods in agreement.
"I need to call and find a pediatrician for her" she tells him
He nods "Yeah"
"Sorry I didn't call you back" she says, continuing "I talked with Dr. Shyer and asked if Talaya's hearing was checked she got her chart and looked at it and said it was both before and after the ototoxic drugs were given" she explained to him.
"Ototoxic drugs?" he questions as his face expresses confusion
"Yeah babies especially preemies get drugs to help them get better, but to my understanding it can also effect their hearing unfortunately" she explained
He nods in understanding walking to the sink in the kitchen and washes his hands really good as does Gemma.
Suddenly Talaya starts crying, Nero and Gemma both rush into their bedroom and to the playing mat picking her up carefully into his arms "Hey, hey, Mija" she continuing crying, he tries to soothe her with her pacifier putting it into her mouth, but she spits it out and continues screaming. "Come on, baby girl, daddy's here" he rocks her a bit trying to get her to calm down.
"Here let me take her" she said
He hands her over taking her little girl into her arms rocking her she's still screaming "Oh sweetheart" she soothes switching her position to her shoulder rubbing her back.
"Sweetheart, what's wrong huh?" she whispers.
"Babe, go get me a bottle maybe she's hungry" she tells him
"Be right back" he runs into the kitchen opening the fridge getting the bottle out placing it into the microwave closing the door he warms up the bottle on 30 seconds meanwhile Gemma walks around the room with Talaya in her arms "Shh, shh" she whispers as she goes into the nursery grabbing a burp cloth placing it over her shoulder and sits down in the rocking, back in the kitchen the microwave beeps and Nero opens the door taking out the bottle then closing it again, he tests the milk on his wrist it's not too hot or cold, he races upstairs to the nursery handing her the bottle she takes it from him putting it into her mouth "Come on, baby girl" she encourages moving the bottle around in her mouth after a few minutes she finally takes it, but then spits it out and starts screaming again.
She notices her face is flushed
"Baby, her face is flushed, look" she said.
"Yeah I see" he says, looking his daughter with concern.
She feels her forehead it's warm "I think she has a fever" she concludes
"Get me the thermometer and the baby Tylenol" she demands
"Okay hold on" he runs into the bathroom, opening the cabinet, grabbing the Tylenol and thermometer coming back into the nursery handing them to her.
"Thanks, baby" she says.
"It's okay, sweetheart, mommy's gonna take your temperature" she whispers switching her daughter's position to her arms, sitting her up she turns on the thermometer putting it into her ear waiting for it to beep a few seconds later it beeps, Gemma takes it out of her ear reading the screen.
"101.2" she whispers
"Oh baby!" she exclaims, trying to soothe putting her up on her shoulder rubbing her back
"She has a fever, babe" she tells him
"Here baby, this will help" she says, opening the baby Tylenol squeezing the dropper she gets some into the dropper then puts the tip into her mouth releasing the dropper as the medicine goes in "Come on, sweetheart, swallow" she encourages after a few seconds she hears the swallowing "Good girl" she praises her. Talaya has stopped crying for now that she's gotten the Tylenol, but inside Gemma is still concerned.
"Baby, I want to take her to the hospital and have her checked out" she insists
"Okay, good idea I'll grab her carrier, blankets and her stuffed animal" he said
"I'm gonna write Kayla and Lucius a note because they are still out for the day" she said, grabbing a pen and paper.

Nero and I are taking Talaya to the hospital she's sick, we'll be back as soon as we can, Thanks for taking Lucius for the day.
Gemma and Nero
Gemma tacks the note to the fridge as Nero quickly gets the carrier from inside the nursery, her two blankets that her mommy made her one being the pink with teddy bears and her multi colored one with the butterflies and quickly grabs her big pink teddy bear plus her diaper bag putting in a few diapers and wipes, some clothes, burp cloths and the bottle she was drinking with the cap on it in case she gets hungry. "Okay, baby I got everything" he announces, quickly going into the bathroom to wash his hands.
Gemma walks over to the carrier bending down gently placing Talaya into it then strapping her in tightly so she doesn't fall out next she quickly goes into the bathroom to wash her hands as well.
"Baby, can I have one of her blankets and her teddy bear?" she asks
"Sure" he answers handing them to her, she pulls the carrier cover down so her face isn't in the sun then puts the blanket over top of it, next opens the diaper bag placing the other blanket in there closing zipping it back up again, next she walks over to her bassinet grabbing her pacifier putting it into her carrier with her. "Baby girl is ready" she says, picking her up and carrying her out the car "Babe, you got the diaper bag?" she asked, he picks up the bag placing it onto his shoulder "Yeah I got it" he responded, following close behind her outside as they are leaving Nero grabs her purse, keys and phone for her in his other hand. "Mama, I got your purse, keys and phone" he tells her "Thanks" she replies back.
They get outside as quickly as possible, Gemma opens the backseat carefully placing the car seat into the dock clicking it down tightly then buckles the dock with the belt, and uncovers then her shutting the door while Nero opens the other back door placing the diaper bag on the floor shutting the door the two walk around to the drivers and passenger sides of the SUV getting in, Nero hands her her purse and phone while he has the keys starting the ignition, buckling up, Gemma buckles up as well and Nero pulls out quickly from the driveway and headed as fast as he can to the hospital inside they are both worried about their daughter, but not saying it.
As Nero continues driving to the hospital, Talaya starts crying again Gemma turns half around in her seat "Shh, baby it's okay, mommy and daddy are here" she soothes reaching her hand over to the carrier caressing the bottom of her little foot that doesn't help as she's still crying, Gemma unbuckles her seat belt and climbs into the back seat with her little girl buckling her seat belt trying to comfort her, she feels around in the carrier for her pacifier finding it a few minutes later she tries to get her take it "Come on, baby" putting it into her mouth she moves it around gently, finally she takes it. "Shh, shh it's okay" she whispers a few minutes she spits out the pacifier screaming again, Gemma rubs her chest trying to comfort her "I know, sweetheart, we'll be there soon" she says, soothingly.
"Baby, are we there yet?" she asked
"Almost, Mama" he responded
3pm:
He arrived there within a few more minutes pulling into the parking lot looking for a parking place finding one he parks, turning off the ignition taking out the keys putting them into his pocket, unbuckles his seat belt, he opens the door getting out shutting it then moving to the back seat opening the door as Gemma unbuckles her seat belt and grabbed the diaper bag from the floor, shutting the back door placing the bag on her shoulder then walked around to the other side to help her husband "I got her, babe" she says, he step aside letting her inside her hand places the car seat cover over her baby then drapes the blanket over top pulling it up carefully from the dock taking her out of the car with Nero shutting the door as the parents rush into the hospital.
Once there they go to the receptionist, she's on the phone glancing up she put her finger up motioning for them to wait a minute, they nod, but inside Gemma's annoyed, but doesn't let on she just waits patiently with her family.
Seconds later receptionist Shelly hangs up the phone looking at them
"Can I help you, Ma'am?" she asked
"Yes our baby is sick, we need a doctor!" she responds, panicked.
"Okay, ma'am calm down" she says, calmly. "What's your baby's name?" she asks.
"Atalaya Padilla" she said
"What's wrong with her?" the woman asks
"She has a fever and has been crying a lot" she answers
"Okay sit down in the chairs and I'll get Dr. Jacoby for you she's one of the pediatrician's here" the woman remarks.
Gemma and Nero look at each other, but say nothing and go sit down in the chairs with Gemma holding onto Talaya's carrier on her lap trying to comfort her the best she can, placing the diaper on the floor.
The receptionist turns around facing nurse Nicole asking "Can you get Dr, Jacoby, please?" she smiles nodding leaving to get the doctor finally finding her in examine room 4 with a patient, she knocked on the door opening it.
"Um Dr. Jacoby?" she called out
"Yes?" she says, looking at her
"There's a new patient you should really see" she says, urgently
"Okay where?" she asked.
"In chairs" she answered
"Give a few minutes and I'll be right there" she tells her
"Okay, doctor thank you" she says, leaving the room and going back out to reception.
Nicole walks over to the chairs to the couple "Dr. Jacoby, will be with you soon" she said.
"Thanks, Thank you" they say to her.
She smiles walking away from them and the two wait patiently yet nervously for the doctor.
10 minutes later, a tall, brunette with brown eyes and long hair walks over to them
"Hi there, I'm Dr. Christina Jacoby" she says, extending her hand out
"Gemma" she says shaking her hand
"Nero" he says, shaking her hand.
"It's nice to meet you two" the doctor said.
"And this is Atalaya, our baby" Gemma pulls back the blanket and the top cover of the carrier turning her around so she can see her.
"Well hey there, little one, you're so beautiful" she whispers bending down gazing at the infant.
"Let's take her back and see what's going on with her" she smiles at the two standing up.
They smile and stand up from the chairs following the doctor back to the examination room. The three of them stop at room 5 the doctor opens the door letting them in.
"Please have a seat in the chairs" she says, going over to the sink to wash her hands.
Gemma and Nero both sit down in the two empty chairs and Gemma sets Talaya down on the floor carefully along with her diaper bag.
"Her fever was 101.2 the last time I checked it and she's been crying a lot and hasn't wanted to eat much, I gave her some baby Tylenol and that seems to have helped" Gemma explains
Dr. Jacoby nodded bending down to the carrier unbuckling the baby gently picking her up into her arms placing her onto the examining table she starts crying again and moving all around "Hey, it's okay little one" she soothes, feeling her forehead it's still hot. "Yeah she's definitely got a fever" the doctor confirms, taking her temperature again "103.2, it's now pretty high" she said, looking at them.
Gemma stood up walking over to the table trying to calm her baby down "Shh, sweetheart, mommy's here" she whispers rubbing her belly soothingly. Dr. Jacoby grabs the stethoscope from around her neck placing the ear tubs into her ear then rubbing the diagram on her shirt to get it warm and place it onto Talaya's chest listening to her heart, a few minutes she announces "Her heart sounds fine" both Gemma and Nero smile at the news next she takes Ophthaloscope from off the wall and looks into each of her eyes with the scope "Her eyes look great" she says, Gemma and Nero both smile after a few seconds she switches to the ear head, putting the tip in checking her left ear which has some fluid, but doesn't have an infection then she moves over to her right noticing it's red, irritated and also filled with fluid "Hmm" she remarks "Well she's got pretty bad ear infection in her right ear that's why she's having trouble hearing, isn't eating much, is crying and has the fever and her left ear has a bit of fluid in it so I'm gonna give you a prescription for some antibiotics you'll give her that will help you need to give them her for 7-14 days and give it all to her until it's gone even if she's feeling better and also continue giving her the baby Tylenol that will definitely help with the pain and fever" she explains, Gemma and Nero both nod in understanding, but inside are concerned, the doctor notices this "Don't worry, she'll be okay as long as you give her all the medication" she reassures them.
"I also need to give her her shots" Christina says
"Oh okay uh sure" Gemma said
The doctor walked out of the room to get the few vials and syringes for the shots Talaya needs
After a few minutes she comes back into the room with everything walking over to the baby she leaned over to her and gives her all of her shots
"There you go, all done, she'll need another series of shots at 4 months" the doctor states
"Okay" they say in unison
Gemma carefully takes her baby into her arms "Shh, shh, it's okay" she walks over to the carrier placing her in it strapping her back in tightly she starts crying again pulling at her ear "I know it's hurts, sweetheart" she says, sadly putting her pacifier into her mouth trying to get her to take it she does and goes quiet as Gemma pulls the carrier cover down again and puts the blanket down on top of the carrier.
Dr. Jacoby interrupts "Okay I'm gonna write the prescription now" she said, reaching in her pocket for the pad and pen she jocks down the medicine, how much she needs a day and how much she needs to take ripping it off the pad giving it to Gemma "Here you go, Gemma, get that filled right away and she should be okay within 10 days, but if she's not call me or just call me anytime if you need anything or have any concerns or questions" she smiles, giving them her card with her number on it.
"Thanks, doc" Gemma says, putting the card in her purse
"Thank you, doctor" Nero said
"You're very welcome" she smiles again walking over to the door opening it walking out closing it leaving them alone
"Well what do you think of her?" she asks, looking at him seriously
"I think she's great and she took care of Talaya just fine" he tells her
"I agree, I like her and she seems like she knows her job" she says, getting up from the chair grabbing her purse as she's about to grab the carrier when Nero's hands stop her touching it "I've got her, Mama" he said, smiling, she nods taking her hand off while she grabbed the diaper bag placing over her shoulder and they walk out of the room and into the hallway.
They continue walking down the hallway and over to reception Gemma unzips her purse handing over her insurance card the lady takes it from her putting in the information then hands it back she puts it into her wallet and her wallet in her purse zipping it up again "Thank you" she says. "You're welcome" the lady says, as the two walk out of the hospital together relieved their baby girl is gonna be okay after a few weeks.
"I'm so glad she's gonna be okay, baby" Gemma says, as they continued to walk to the car
"Me too, I was really worried" he admitted
Talaya spits out her pacifier again and starts crying, Nero and Gemma look at each other they quickly rush to the SUV, Gemma opens up the back door taking the carrier from her husband clicking it into the dock tightly, placing the diaper bag on the floor then pulling the cover and blanket up on the carrier then closes the door, she walks around to the other side getting in with her baby and tries to comfort her.
"Come on sweetheart, it's okay mommy's here, I know" she whispers, shutting the door, buckling up with the prescription in her hand.
"Baby, let's go we have to get this prescription filled" she says.
"Okay" he says, buckling his seat belt, placing the keys in the ignition and pulling out of the parking lot.
He drives as quickly as he can to the drug store, meanwhile Talaya has calmed down a bit now, but is fussy and pulling at her ear again.
10 minutes later. Nero arrives at the drug store's drive thru window pulling up to it. "Baby, hand me the prescription" he demands
"Can I help you?" the lady asks.
"Yeah I need this prescription filled, please" he says, handing her the paper.
"Sure" she says, taking the paper from him and walking back to get the medication, a few minutes later she returns with the medicine in a bag.
"Babe, here's my card" she says, handing him her insurance card as she puts Talaya's pacifier into her mouth moving it around trying to get her calmed "Come on sweetie, it's okay" she soothes, Talaya finally takes it, but spits it back out screaming.
He takes the medication handing it to back to her then handed the card to the lady
"Thanks" she says, taking the card paying for the medication, seconds later she hands him back the card.
"Thank you" she says.
She rips open the bag taking out the antibiotics looking on the front of the bottle to see how much she needs to give her opening to the bottle she squeezes the dropper getting the right amount of the medicine in it bringing the dropper up she moves the dropper to Talaya's mouth placing it into her mouth letting her fingers go squirting the medication in making sure she swallows it, seconds later she does "Good girl" she praises :That will help you feel better" she smiles, bringing her pacifier to her mouth putting it in moving it around trying to gets her to suck on it, a few minutes later she takes it and stops screaming "There you go" she says as Talaya's eyes close slowly and she soon falls asleep.
4pm:
Nero hands her back her card and she puts it into her purse and drives away heading home. They arrive 5 minutes later pulling into the driveway he stops turning off the ignition unbuckling his seatbelt
"She's asleep" she whispered to him.
"Good she needs it" he said, grabbing her purse, getting out shutting the door as quietly as he can.
"Yeah" she says, covering Talaya up again with the carrier cover putting the blanket on top.
She gets out of the back seat, grabbing the diaper bag placing it over her shoulder
"Baby, you got her?" he asks, walking into the house placing her purse and keys on the counter
"Kayla, Lucius you home?!" he calls out from the kitchen, there's no response, he looks at the fridge noticing the note is right where Gemma had placed it before they left for the hospital
"Guess they aren't here yet" he mumbled to himself, taking the note off the fridge, crumbling it up and throwing it in the garbage can.
"Yeah" she answered back to herself
She takes her baby girl picking up the car seat from the dock, getting out closing the door and going into the house setting Talaya on the kitchen table carefully along with the diaper bag uncovering her she's now awake again, cooing happily Gemma walks over to the door closing it and putting the medicine in the fridge.
"Hey baby girl did you have a good nap?" she asks, smiling
She starts crying again "Shh, shh, I know, I know" she soothed
Nero walks into the kitchen washing his hands in the sink then goes over to his daughter unbuckling her lifting her out of the carrier into his arms "It's okay, Mija, daddy's got you" he whispers, kissing her forehead.
"Kayla and Lucius are still out" he tells her
"Oh okay" she says
"Babe, where's her medication?" he asked
"In the refrigerator" she answered back
"Okay" he says
He walks to the nursery going in and bending down to the diaper bag unzipping it, taking out the bottle from the bag then goes into the kitchen and to the sink pouring out the milk and washing out the bottle and lid placing it on the counter. Next he walks the few steps to the fridge opening it he notice the bottle of milk grabbing it he closes the fridge walking back into their bedroom.
"Hey Mama, this breast milk is still okay right?" he asked
"It should be, the bottle was only made a couple of hours ago and it's been in the fridge" she says, reassuringly.
"Okay" he nods, walking away
Going back into kitchen he places the bottle of milk back in the fridge so it'll be there for later. Gemma sighs heavily walking through the kitchen and into their bedroom and lays down on her side of the bed to relax while Nero returns to the bedroom, quickly peering into the bassinet Talaya is sucking on her pacifier which is on her pink holder and is clipped onto her outfit and she's asleep, satisfied he smiles at her for a bit then goes over to the bed laying down on the bed himself, sighing tiredly.
"She's asleep" he whispers
"Good" she whispers back
"I already gave Talaya her medicine" she tells him
"Great, that'll help her" he smiles
"Yeah it will" she says, smiling down at him
"It's been a-" suddenly they hear the back door open and close
"Nero, Gemma?!" Kayla called out
"Papi, Gemma?!" Lucius called out, seconds later
Sighing Gemma gets out of bed walking out of their bedroom and into the kitchen
"Hey you two, try and be quiet okay because the baby's asleep and she's not feeling well right now" she explains, putting her index finger to her lips
"Sorry Gem" Kayla replies back, quietly
"I'm sorry" Lucius says, sadly
"It's okay, just be quiet" she said, walking back into their room getting back into the bed again.
Nero looks over at his wife, telling her "Oh Gem I poured out the other bottle of milk and cleaned out the bottle"
She looks over at him confused "Why did you do that for?" she asked
He explains "Because she already drank a little from it and now that she's sick I didn't want any germs"
"Baby, you could have just changed the lid for it" she pointed out
He groans "Damn, I'm sorry I wasn't thinking"
"It's okay, we can just use the one from the fridge tonight and I'll nurse her if she's hungry before then no big deal" she smiles at him.
An Hour Later: 5pm:
Nero and Gemma are in the kitchen making spaghetti and garlic bread for dinner, Gemma sprays some cooking spray into the pan placing the garlic bread in it then opens the oven putting the pan in closing the door while Nero is waiting for the water to boil so he can put the noodles in.
"Thanks for the help, baby" he says
"You're welcome" she smiles, leaning against the counter
10 minutes later the water is now boiling in the pot, he breaks up some noodles placing them into the pot, stirring them a bit with a spoon then covers them with the lid
Gemma crouches down opening the cabinet grabbing another for the sauce finding she stands up placing it onto the stove turning on the burner then opens the sauce can and goes over to the pot pouring the sauce in it and stirs it a bit then covers it up and waits for it to get done.
Another hour later dinner is done, Gemma grabs from plates down from the cupboard and silverware from the drawer and glasses from the cupboard she gets Lucius's plate ready for him placing some spaghetti on it and a piece of garlic bread placing it on the table with a fork with a glass of milk to drink.
"I'll go get Lucius and Kayla" Gemma says
"Okay, thanks" he replies back
Gemma walks out of the kitchen through their bedroom and to Lucius's room, standing in the doorway
"Hey you two dinner's ready" she smiles at them
"Okay we'll be there a few minutes" Kayla said
Gemma just nods walking away, grabbing the walkie talkie to the baby monitor off the side table clipping it onto her jeans and walks back to the kitchen
"They'll be here a few minutes" she tells him
"Okay" he says, putting food on his plate and pours himself some milk into his glass and sits down next to Gemma
Moments later Kayla comes into the kitchen carrying Lucius she sits Lucius down in the chair carefully, he starts eating his food while Kayla gets hers and also some milk in her glass and sits down in the other other empty chair everyone eats silently.
5:30pm:
Both Gemma and Nero are now done eating, they stand up from their chairs putting their plates, pots, pans, silverware and glass into the dishwasher Nero closes it, but Kayla and Lucius are still eating though.
"Good dinner!" Lucius exclaims as he continues eating
"Yeah definitely great you two!" Kayla chimes in, smiling as she also continues eating
"Thanks, guys" Gemma smiles at the compliment
"Thanks" comes Nero's reply
Gemma puts the milk into the fridge again and cleans the counters
10 minutes later Kayla and Lucius have finished eating, Kayla gets up from her chair grabbing her and Lucius's plates, silverware and glasses putting them into the dishwasher, Nero then started it up.
Suddenly a cry comes from the walkie talkie, Gemma unclips it from her jeans "I'll got her, babe" she says, clipping it back onto herself
"Nah Mama, I got her, she's probably hungry or...needs a diaper change" he smiles at her going over to the sink to washes his hands then walking to the fridge getting the bottle out. Gemma takes it from him warming it up.
"Thanks" he says
"You're welcome" he walks out of the kitchen and to their bedroom picking Talaya up into his arms, she immediately quiets down a bit, but his still crying softly
"Do you need a diaper change?" he asks, taking her into the nursery laying her gently on the changing table
Back in the kitchen it's been a minute now and microwave has beeped, Gemma opens it up taking out the bottle closing the door, she tests it on her wrist making sure it's not too hot or cold "ouch!" she exclaims, it's a bit too hot so she runs it under the cold water for a bit.
Upstairs in the nursery Nero has undressed the baby undoing the tabs on her diaper looking in it
"You definitely need a change huh?" he remarks, as she smiles at him as he takes off the diaper putting it off to the side.
"Yeah I know you think it's so cute!" he comments, smiling back at her kissing her forehead, tracing the scar on her chest with his finger "just like mommy's, I love that" he whispers, chuckling kissing it.
It's been a few minutes now and Gemma finally takes the bottle from under the water and tests it again on her wrist, it's perfect she turns off the water walking back upstairs to the nursery she smiles going further into the room the bottle in hand.
"Hey, baby" she says
"Hey Mama, she's needs a change" he says
"I see that" she comments
Talaya looks over at her mommy smiling "Hey there, baby girl daddy changing you!" she exclaims
"Do you need some help changing her?" she asks
"Nah, that's okay, but if you want to help" he replies back
Gemma sets the bottle down on the table then walks back to the changing table grabbing a fresh diaper from underneath it, he opens the wipes, taking out a few wiping her area good throwing the used wipes into the old diaper closing it up and putting it onto the diaper pail next to the changing table, then he lifts her legs up placing the new diaper underneath her and grabbing the baby powder, he's about to put it on her when Gemma notices her area is red and irritated.
"Baby, she has a diaper rash" she concludes
"I know" he says, opening the tube of diaper rash cream
He squeezes the tube putting some cream on his fingers and gently rubs it onto her area where the redness and blisters are after that he closes it up and grabs a wipe washing off his hands off, moving over a bit Gemma sprinkles some baby powder on her then closes the diaper undoing the tabs placing them over the diaper. "All done, baby!" she announces, smiling
Nero redresses her in the same clothing, Gemma reaches for the bottle of milk on the table and a burp cloth "Here you go" she says, holding out the cloth and bottle to him.
"Wait, Mama gotta wash my hands" he says, she nods walking over to Talaya to watch her
Nero goes into the bathroom upstairs of the nursery turning on the warm water sticking his hands underneath getting them wet then squeezes some soap onto his hands and scrubs them good then puts his hands under the water rinsing them off, then goes over to the towel drying them off and returned back to the nursery.
Walking over his wife she again hands him the bottle and places the cloth over his shoulder, then quickly walks out of the room to wash her hands 5 minutes later she returns in the room "Sorry had to wash my hands too" she remarks
"All set, baby" she smiles, picking her up into her arms holding her a bit and sway her back and forth "Okay daddy's gonna fed you now" she kisses her on the forehead, carefully handing her over and he takes her walking the few steps to the rocking chair sitting down switching her position to his arms cradling her, taking the bottle putting it into her mouth she instantly starts eating as he rocks her slowly smiling down at her. Gemma stands there watching for a bit, but walks out without a word going back to their bedroom walking over to the bed she un clips the walkie talkie from her jeans placing it onto the table and lies down exhaling sharply.
5:45pm:
Back in the nursery Talaya is still finishing the last few ounces of her bottle she's finally done after a few 5 minutes later, Nero takes the bottle out of her mouth placing it onto the table next he puts her over his shoulder patting her back gently, but a bit hard "Come on, mija" he encourages, she burps twice "Good girl" he praises, rubbing her back. Moments he turns her around sitting her on his lap he wipes her mouth with the cloth, then puts her back into his arms cradling her, she smiles at him happily "Does your tummy feel better now?" he asks, she coos at him.
He stands up from the rocker walking over to the crib gently placing her into it, covering her up with her blanket, kisses her forehead and putting her pacifier in her mouth she instantly takes it still cooing happily. "Goodnight, baby girl" he chuckles, turning on her mobile of music and walks out of the room turning off the light and closes the door and goes back into their bedroom again.
"Hey Mama, I think she's asleep" he says, sitting down on the edge of the bed, reaching over to her rubbing her upper thigh sensually.
She chuckles softly then spoke up "I thought we were gonna do this tonight" he smiles moving closer to her pushing back a few strands of her hair from her face.
"Come here" she whispers, pulling him on top of her body furiously kissing him automatically slipping her tongue into his mouth as he slips his tongue into her mouth, Gemma moans softly holding him close for the next few minutes as they continued kissing passionately.
"Oh god!" she whispers, pulling away from their kissing they are both breathing heavily.
They start engaging in some foreplay for a bit, but stop after a few moments
"Let's save the best for later on tonight" she suggested

A Few Hours Later: 8pm:
A stifled cry comes across the baby monitor, Gemma groans softly, slowly opening her eyes sitting up in the bed, yawning and rubbing her eyes of sleep Nero opens his eyes, smiling up at her caresses her cheek with his fingers.
"I'm gonna go check on her" she says, throwing the covers off of her and getting out of bed, she goes to the bathroom to wash her hands.

"While you're doing that I'm gonna go check on Lucius" he says, also throwing off the covers and getting out of bed

Gemma walks to the nursery going further in and over to the crib looking in "Hey baby girl, are you hungry?" she smiles down at her "Hmm?" she whispers, picking her up into her arms cradling her along with grabbing a burp cloth placing it over her shoulder then walks the few steps over to the rocker she sits down lifting up her shirt un clipping her nursing bra exposing her right breast she moves Talaya up the few inches to her nipple waiting for her to latch on within a few seconds she does and starts to eat Gemma leans back in the rocker and starts to rock her slowly.
Back in Lucius's room, Nero is sitting on the edge of the bed talking to his son where he and Kayla are working a puzzle on the floor.
"We are doing a puzzle, Papi" he said

"I just wanted to check on you" he says
"We're okay" he responds, happily as Kayla smiles up at him
With that Nero gets up from the bed and walked out of the room as Kayla and Lucius continue to work on their puzzle.
Nero walks to the nursery standing in the doorway smiling over at his wife and daughter. Walking further into the room, Gemma looked up at him, a bit tiredly.
"Hey Mama" he says
"Hey, Pimp daddy" she says, smiling at him
"Is she eating okay?" he asks
"So far yeah" she replies back
"I'm a bit sleepy still" she admitted
"Yeah I know, me too" he admitted, rubbing his hands over his face
"Do you want me to take her?" he asked
"No, I've got her" she said, un clipping the other side of her bra exposing her left breast and switching her position moving her move up to her other nipple waiting for her to latch on, she does continuing to eat putting her little hand on her mommy's chest to which Gemma grasps it holding on to it.
"Babe, can you get her medicine?" she asked, after a short pause she continues speaking "It's in the fridge"

In the nursery a while later Talaya stops sucking she picks her up carefully placing her over her shoulder while supporting her head in her hand and with her other hand she pats her back trying to get her to burp "Come on, sweetheart" she encourages
Walking to the kitchen he goes to the fridge opening it, looking around for the medicine finally finding it in the doorway, grabbing it he closes the door bringing it back into the nursery with him.
Talaya finally burped twice along with some spit up she turns her around wiping her mouth with the cloth. "Good girl" she praises, feeling her forehead, it's still a bit hot.
"She's still got a fever, babe" she announces
He put the medication down on the table and walks to the bathroom to get the thermometer and baby Tylenol and to wash his hands.
Once he's inside the bathroom he opens the medicine cabinet grabbing the Tylenol and thermometer putting them on the side of the sink and washes his hands really good then brings them back to the room.
Inside the nursery Gemma is giving Talaya her medicine "There you go, baby" she whispers, he hands her the Tylenol, Nero bends down to his daughter turning on the thermometer within a few seconds it's ready he places the ear tip into her ear as Gemma soothes her "It's okay, baby" she rubs her back gently moments later it beeps he takes the tip out of her ear turning it around he reads it: " Down to 100.4 not as bad as it was earlier, but still a fever" he says, sadly, she sighs heavily, kissing her on her head. He stands up, taking a deep breath.
Gemma opens up the Tylenol squeezing the dropper to get the right amount of medicine in it she places the dropper into Talaya's mouth letting her fingers go as the medicine goes in she swallows it "There you go, sweetheart, you're such a good baby" she says, smiling down at her.
"Do you want to hold her for a bit?" she asked, looking at him
"Yeah sure" he says, walking over to his daughter taking her into his arms carefully, he puts her pacifier into her mouth she takes it and her close a bit as he rocks her, kissing her on the forehead.
Gemma's in the bathroom washing her hands after 20 minutes she dries her hands and goes back to the nursery walking in.
"Is she okay?" she asked
"Yeah, she's calm, I think she's going back to sleep again" he says

"Night, baby" she says, bending down to kiss her on the forehead and Nero kisses her on her cheek. They walk out of the room and on the way out Nero turns off the light, but leaves on the night light and Gemma closes the door quietly.
"We're alone" he whispers, picking her up carrying her to their bedroom and gently laid her down on the bed crawling onto her taking off his shirt throwing it on the floor as she pulls her shirt up taking it off handing it to him where he throws it on the floor, he arm reaches around unclasping her bra removing it from her body throwing down with their other clothes, Gemma unbuttons his pants pulling them down and off and onto the floor then his boxers pulling them off onto floor where their other scattered clothing is, lastly Nero quickly removes her jeans and panties placing them on with the rest of their garments.

A Few Hours Later: January 22nd 1am:
Crying comes from the baby monitor jarring Gemma and Nero from their sound sleep. Gemma groans softly opening her eyes and rolling over on her back throwing the covers off of her yawning while getting out of bed , she goes into the bathroom to wash her hands then walks to the nursery going in and over to the crib picking up her daughter holding her close while supporting her head with her head kissing her on back of the head "What's wrong huh?" she whispers swaying her a bit trying to calm her down. She feels her forehead it feels still warm.
Back in bedroom, Nero is awake in the bed when Gemma comes in with Talaya in her arms whose now still fussy "I think someone's restless" she remarks to him as he gets up from the bed yawning walking over to them, he feels her forehead "She still feels warm" Gemma nods "Yeah she's still got a fever" she says. "I'll get the Tylenol, thermometer and her medicine" he says, walking out of the bedroom and to the bathroom opening the medicine cabinet he grabs the baby Tylenol and thermometer closing the door and walking back to the room handing her thermometer first she takes it from him with her one free hand turning it on waiting for it to say "ready" seconds later "ready" pops up on the small screen she gently put the ear tip into her ear waiting for it to beep a few seconds later it beeps and Gemma reads it out loud "101.6, well it's not high, but it's still a fever" she remarks sadly. Nero opens up the Tylenol squeezing the dropper making sure he's got the right dosage once he does he walks around to Talaya opening her mouth with the dropper squirting the medicine into her mouth "Here you go, baby" he smiles as she swallows it he puts the dropper back into the medicine closing it again grabbing the thermometer from his wife and the Tylenol putting everything back into the medicine cabinet then he washes his hands at the sink and walked to the kitchen opening to the fridge getting her medicine bringing it back with him to the room "Here's her medicine" he says, handing it to her, she looks at him, putting her hand up 'Baby, do you think I have a million hands here?" she asks, joking, he chuckles softly "Sorry, Mama" he opens the medicine squeezing the dropper again making sure he's got the correct dosage he looks at it it's right walking around to her he puts the dropper into her mouth squirt the medicine in "Come on, Mija" he says, after a few seconds she swallows it. "Good girl that'll help you feel better" he smiles before walking back into the kitchen putting the medicine back in the fridge then washing his hands at the sink and once again going back into their bedroom where Talaya is still restless and fussy.
"Hey Mama, how about a little music maybe that will help calm her down?" he suggests
"Okay, let's try it and see" she smiles
He goes the few steps over to the stereo looking for the CD he wants to put in finally finding it he opens the CD case popping the music turning it down so it doesn't wake up Kayla and Lucius seconds later Van Morrison's These Are The Days comes through the stereo.
Walking back to his daughter and wife he holds them in his arms, kissing Gemma and Talaya both on their foreheads and they start slowly swaying to the music as Talaya whose on her mother's chest finally calms down while Gemma rubs her back and within seconds falls into a peacefully slumber as she smiles up at him then laid her head onto her husband's chest Nero smiles while they still danced together...their beautiful little family is finally complete.
