The Duel Off: Tag Force 1
A/N: Ths took far longer then expected. Originally I wanted to combine both scenarios of the Duel Off from Tag Force 1 but I can only chose 1 so I chose the one that made the most sense. I know im kinda cheating since I did the opposite in the Chazz vs Bastion duel but oh well. The beging feels so forced thats mostly cause had to find a way to justify Red Hat's refusal of being in the school duel. Hope this is satesfactory.
P.S: The people in the comment section.. Oh boy where do I begin. I'll save it for the end notes. These will be deleted in a few weeks tops.
Tuesday
Time: 8pm
After some time has passed since Red Hat and Blair did their duel with Jaden and Chumley. They had to take extra caution when approaching things, as to avoiding getting caught. Much to Red Hat's disdain, he felt more like a babysitter always following around Blair just to keep her secret safe. Although someting inside Red Hat was stiring, like he didnt want her to leave yet he couldnt bring himself to tell her to leave or anything. As such Red Hat just decided to put up with all Blair's antics and constant teasing which annoyed him to no end.
Right now, Red Hat was currently at docks feeling the cool breeze at night. While normally Red Hat wouldn't come here of all places as he would rather be at the cliffside. He had to take his mind of things for a little while before heading back to his room where Blair is waiting. 'Keeping her around is sometimes more effort then it's worth. Although I can't seem to find it in me, to send her off, turn her in, or anything really. What what do I feel when I'm around her. I don't understand.' Red Hat thought, still confused as to what was wrong with him. 'I'm never soft around anyone yet why am I acting soft around her. Just what's wrong with me.' As Red Hat was having his thoughts. He was soon approached by Zane alone.
"Decided to come here for the cool breeze Red Hat?" asked Zane while getting close to him.
Red Hat turned to face him. "I guess you can say that Zane."
"I heard from Alexis, you hang out with another Slifer Red besides Jaden and his friends. Mind explaining why is that? Although you dont have to tell me, just pointing things out." said Zane flattly
"Sometimes I wonder that myself. I guess just like Jaden, he pretty fun dude to be with once you get to know him." lied Red Hat. 'I cant tell him it's cause I'm protecting Blair's identity.'
Zane though felt like Red Hat was lying but decided not to push it. He could tell by the sound of his voice. "I've noticed, when you hang with that Slifer, you dont act as wild or rash. Guess he taught you the meaning of respecting your opponents."
"What makes you say that Zane?" asked Red Hat.
"I saw your duel the other day with a Final Countdown stall user. Rather then being rash and very aggressive, you took the time to analize your opponent. Then afterward rather then berating your opponent you just let it go. Guess hanging out with that Slifer really did wonders on your attitude Red Hat." explained Zane.
Red Hat was confused by that but didnt respond. 'I think you're giving me and Blair a little too much credit Zane.' he thought before responding. "I guess you can say that."
"When ever one duels. One must always respect his opponent during a duel even if you dont personally like them. Syrus has made that mistake numerous times before. At least you arent making the same mistaks as he did." explained Zane. Red Hat though raised an eye brow at that.
'Zane, that mentality is very flawed. There are so many people in this world that dont deserve respect in any way. Chazz, many professors, Crowler, the majority if not all the Obelisk Blues, and the list goes on. Many people do not deserve respect when it's not earned.' thought Red Hat. "I at least learn from my mistakes... Even if it means hanging out with someone other then Jaden."
Zane just stared at him indifferently. "At least you're doing better then our last encounter." Zane continued. "You remember the announcment about the school duel?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"Do you want to participate in the school duel?" asked Zane.
Red Hat knew the answer to that question, but he tried to be nice. "I'm sorry to say Zane, but I decline that offer. I am honored though."
Zane sighed at this. "Somehow I knew you'd answer that. Although do give me your reason."
"Let's just say, showing off isn't really my style. I'm more of the type that I know im very skilled but have no reason to announce it." Red Hat tried his best to explain.
"That's disappointing." said Zane. "The reason I ask is because Chancellor Sheppard sent me a message saying that North Academy has chosen a first year. Tomorrow I'm heading to a meeting with Sheppard and various teachers to disguss this matter."
"Huh really? Why would they do that in the first place, wouldn't it have made more sense for them to chose a 3rd year student over first year? Considering you're the best choice? Unless they have other plans?" Red Hat asked.
"That's what I'm going to figure out tomorrow. Since you dont want to join, I believe our next candident will be Jaden Yuki. Although that's for the staff to decide." explained Zane.
"Since Jaden is the best first year other then myself, it's a no brainer to pick him. Again that's for the staff to decide."
"Hmm, glad you see it my way Red Hat. Well then I'll see you around then." with that Zane begins to walk off, although before leaving the docks, Zane stopped. "One more thing, we'll duel again sometime later. I'll find out if you actually taken what I said to heart or you are just using that Slifer as a sheild to hide your true nature." Zane continues to walk off leaving Red Ht dumbfounded.
'That was... Interesting to say the least. I didn't want to tell him that I refuse to represent this school. Especially cause everyone else beside a very small fraction are completely worthless, and aren't worth representing.' Red Hat though with a hint of anger. 'Guess it's time I head back before Blair worries. Although what Zane said earlier. Do I really use Blair as a sheild to hide my internal anger and self righteousness?' He thought to himself for sometime before walking off. As soon as Red Hat walks off he heard some rustling nearby. As he took a deeper look he found Blair hiding in one of the bushes.
"Did you follow me Blair?" he asked.
"Hey, I can't leave your side for a few minutes if it means keeping my secret safe." Blair told him. Red Hat though wasnt buying it.
"You were easdropping on me and Zane weren't you." Red Hat accused.
"Alright, you caught me. I overheard what Zane said." Blair admited. "Are you out of your mind! Why turn down such an opportunity!?"
Red Hat scofted at that declaration. "It's like I told Zane, I have no interest in getting ivolved with this school's affairs. Plus showing off isnt my style in the slightest."
Blair sighed at that. "Guess I really shouldn't be surprised. You were always one to turn down being the spot light." Blair then realized something. "Hey you were talking so casually to Zane. You must know him quite a bit. I want to get closer to Zane."
"Sorry to say I don't know much about him besides his impressive dueling skills and he duels while respecting his opponents." explained Red Hat. "There isn't much I really know anout Zane. Only person I can think of that knows hims or hangs out with him is Alexis."
Blair then had a sour look when se heard Alexis name. "Aww, there has to be something. Maybe if I give him something delicios to eat he might like it." Blair declard which caused Red Hat to sweat dropped.
'Blair that is so counter intuitive. You barely know how to cook. I have no idea how to cook either. Unless you feel like asking him yourself what he likes, which is very unlikly he'll do. Or you ask a faculty member to learn how to cook and in that case good luck with pulling that off.' thought Red Hat.
"Let's get going and get some rest Blair. Tomorrow ther's gonna be a big duel I just know it." he told her. 'Only reason I say that is cause, If the staff chose Jaden. Then Im certain Crowler won't allow it because of his petty hate against Jaden.'
Blair was confsed by that statment. "What makes you say that? If you say so I guess. Race you back!" Blair then took off running.
"Hey dont think I won't catch up!" Red Hat also takes off running quickly catching up to Blair, and heading back to the dorm.
Wednesday
Time 6am
"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!?" Crowler cried out as he slammed his hands on an oval table where he, Banner, Chancellor Sheppard and other faculty members were sitting at. They were having a meeting early in the monering. Zane was also there, standing aside as he was called to show up. "The School Duel between Duel Academy and North Academy is the biggest match of the year! We can take no chances. So, it's clear that Zane must be our rep."
"Zane is our best," Sheppard agreed. "But he's a thrid year student. North Academy is using a first year."
"Why would they do that?" Crowler asked.
"Who knows? But in spirit of competition, I think we should use a first year as well." Sheppard turned to Zane. "You understand, don't you Zane?"
"Of course, Chancellor."
He chuckled a little. "Well then, the only question is who this first year will be."
Zane closed his eyes. "Actually I wanted to diguss this." Zane began to explain. "You see, I had an encounter with Red Hat. I asked him if he wanted to the one to represent the school. Although he declined the offer saying he is not interested, but he did say he was honored."
"Well that's a shame. He didn't want to be chosen. Oh well thats on him, can't make do this if he doesn't want to. We really could have used his dueling skill." Sheppard sighed. Athough Crowler was slightly relived at this. "So you got anyone else in mind Zane?"
Zane then gave a small smile. "Jaden Yuki."
Crowler now immediately cringed at the idea, while Sheppard looked at Zane Curiously.
"I agree, besides Red Hat, Jaden is our best new student." Banner said, then looked at his cat. "Don't you think?" Pharaoh only meowed in response.
"Oh well, if the cat says so." Crowler said.
"Chancellor." Zane turned to the Headmanster. "Jaden will make Duel Academy proud, trust me."
"Well then, that's that... unless someone has a better idea." Sheppard looked at his colleagues.
Crowler was seething with rage at the thought of Jaden representing Duel Academy in the school duel. 'Jaden Yuki... that Slifer Slacker! Everytime he does well, he makes me look bad! That delinquent in the Red Hat may have stayed out of my way for now, but I can not allow that slacker to represent us! There has got to be someone else...' It was then a thought crossed his mind, making him smile. "Wait, I hve it. Bastion Misawa! He should represent us!"
"Bastion, you say?" Sheppard asked.
"Yes," Crowler climbed onto the table and crawled his way toward the Chancellor. "He's far more qualified and he tested higher then any other first year." Crowler faked a cough. "Besides him anyway. It's only fair, Chancellor."
"Well then, how about a duel off then." Zane gave a small nod at this. "Ok, then it's settled."
"I'll send an email to notify everyone that the Duel Off will be happening today after class. I'll even allow both of them to prepare their decks during class so long as they pay attention of course." Crowler explained.
Time 7am
Red Hat was still sleeping in his bunk bed until Blair came in after her morning shower to wake up Red Hat yet again.
"Come on! Get Up! This is important!" Blair yelled at Red Hat. Forcing him to wake up.
"Alright I'm up. Jeez what is it this time?" Red Hat asked.
"Look at your PDA and check your email and you will see what I mean." Red Hat then got his PDA and looked at his only email he has gotten for now. Although Red Hat wasn't pleased by the email.
The email showed up with Crowler giving an explaination. "Today, we will be choosing the duelist who will be representing our school in a duel against North Academy! Bastion Misawa and 'Drop Out Boy' are the contestants! Everyone come to the Duel Field after class!" with that the email ended.
"What did he mean by 'Drop Out Boy'?" Blair asked.
"He means Jaden Yuki. Crowler has a very petty grudge against Jaden for the dumbest of reasons. So he openly hates him and willing to do anything to tear him down and failing miserably" Red Hat explain with a scowl on his face.
"Wow talk about petty. If anything it should be the opposite. Then again you mention the professors have a huge bias to others and hate those in Slifer Red." Blair shook her head at all of this.
"That's why I do not like the professors in this academy especially all the Obelisk Blue's who they defend so much even though they are terrible duelists, with very few exceptions and throw a trantrum when ever you prove them wrong or show them who is really skilled and isnt all talk." Red Hat's mood soured futher to the point of anger. "God forbid someone from Slifer Red is amazing is actually amazing. They are only there cause bad grades or just choses to stay for personal reasons."
Blair had to step back a bit. 'He's scary when he's mad. I shouldn't anger him.' Blair thought before regaining her composure. "Well how about we get some breakfast before we head off to class?"
"Normally I wouldn't go to class but since this is very important day. I must go."
"Hey, dont keep skipping class. It's not a good look on your record." Blair scowled at him.
"Says the girl who snuck in to Duel Academy to get close to Zane." Red Hat chuckled at her reaction.
"Point taken."
"You haven't thought of a way to get close to him. It's been weeks and you havent gotten anywhere." he pointed out.
"I'm still thinking of something. I need to learn how to cook to cook up something amazing for him. As you said I also need to get better at dueling, since Zane has very high expectations of dueling."
"We'll think of someting as time goes by." Red Hat sighs. "Alright then lets get a move on and get some breakfast." Both Blair and Red Hat left their room all ready to go and headed for the Cafeteria where they meet up with Jaden Syrus and Chumley. Jaden was already stuffing his mouth with food.
"Hey Jaden, did you get the email for today?" asked Red Hat, to which Jaden stopped eating for a bit.
"Hey Red Hat hey Blair. Certainly did, and I cant wait for my match today with Bastion!" Jaden kept on eating afterwards.
"You never worry Jay. You barely prepared for this match." Syrus commented at Jaden's cheerful mood.
"Yeah." Chumley agreed.
"You sure your deck is prepared Jaden?" Red Hat asked. "Bastion has non-battle removal. You saw how Bastion easily took down Chazz's VWXYZ Dragon Catipult Cannon. You'll need to be better prepared Jaden." explained Red Hat.
"You worry so much. Bastion does things his way, and I have mine." Jaden took a few more bites. "Besides its not like I haven't been changing my deck around. I always have something planned."
"If you say so Jaden. I really want you to win." said Red Hat. 'It's more so to knock Crowler down for the count for a while. I knew Crowler was gonna use Bastion for his own egotistical deeds.'
"Ha, ha, thanks for having so much faith in me Red Hat." says Jaden as he continues eating.
In the meanwhile Blair and Red Hat began eating breakfast together fairly apart from Jaden. "You really have a lot of hopes for Jaden, dont you?" Blair asked.
"I certainly do. Jaden is no pushover when it comes to dueling. He always finds a way to win no matter the odds are." Rd Hat replied.
"Yet he still doesn't compare to Zane. He's much cooler and stronger then Jaden is. Not sure what you find so special about Jaden." Blair flattly stated still making comparrisons.
"Well, after the duel off today you change your view on Jaden."
"I'm holding you to that Red Hat." she reminded him.
Red Hat simply chuckled. "You don't have to remind me twice."
As Jaden kept on eating bowl after bowl of food that was being served, much to Syrus and Chumley's dismay. Red Hat and Blair ate at their own pace. Once they were all done all five of them head off to class once again. This time though after class it will begin the duel off between Bastion and Jaden. Although first they had to put up with Dr. Crowler's class much to Red Hat's displeasure. He hated being in his class.
Time 4pm
After hours of boring lectures from Dr. Crowler, when he finally finished his lesson. He then turned to face everyone and began his announcement.
"Class is over for the day. Now, you propably heard via email, but if you haven't Bastion will duel the Slifer Slacker." Crowler announced.
Alexis groaned at Crowlers comment on Jaden. "That's not a very nice thing to say..."
Jaden ignored that and was up beat for his up comming duel. "Sweet! I was waiting for this!"
"Bastion, are you ready?" asked Crowler.
"Yes, I am." he replied.
"Then let's all go to the arena!" Crowler annoucned.
Although it shouldn't be a surprise Jaden was still stunned. "Hey! You're not gonna ask if Im ready?"
Red Hat groaned at Crowler's lack of respect. 'Then you wonder why I will never respect you or the Obelisk Blues.' he thought. "Jaden don't bother, telling him that is like telling a rabbid dog not to bite you." this remark cause both him and Jaden to start laughing. The Obelisks glared at Red Hat while the Ra Yellows were silent.
This caused Crowler to fume. 'That delinquent has been making a mockery out of me for too long! I'll focus on Jaden first then I'll deal with you. I wont stand for this!' Crowler then kept his composure.
Soon the entire class went to the duel arena where then was slowly filled by the rest of the students. Red Hat took a seat much father away from Syrus and Chumley, where he and Blair were next to eachother.
"Woah big crowd." said Jaden, after looking at the stands filled with students.
Crowler then grabbed his mic and began his announcement. "It's time duelist! To find out who will represent our illustrious Academy in the anual School Duel!" Crowler continued "From Ra Yellow we have Bastion Misawa!" Bastion remained quiet when Crowler annouced him. "And then from Slifer Red some kid. I mean, Jaden Yuki." Crowler announced with disdain in his voice. This angered Red Hat but kept his cool.
"I could have used a better intro." Jaden muttered, before staring off Bastion. "Here we go! Good luck, Pal!"
"With the deck I prepared I don't need luck."
"Yeah we'll see about that!" Jaden replied.
"Go, Jaden!" Syrus cheered.
"Now without further ado..." Crowlwer announced.
"Get your Game On Bastion!" Jaden called out.
"Alright! Lets duel!"
Bastion: 8000 LP
Jaden: 8000 LP
Crowler jumped off the platform after the duelist activated their duel disks.
"Alright, I start things off. I Draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 6
"I'll set a monster, then I'll throw down a facedown and end my turn!"
Hand 4
"That's all? Jaden normally never starts off like that." Syrus pointed out.
"Yeah, normally Jaden will start things big or do something." Chumley agreed.
Red Hat raised an eye brow at that. "Did Jaden brick? Unless he's planning something he needs to be careful."
"We'll have to wait and see." Blair commented.
"Not so much you can do right now is there. My turn I draw!" Bastion draws.
Hand 6
"I summon Beta the Magnet Warrior in attack mode! (Atk: 1700 Def: 1600) Battle, go Beta attack his facedown monster!" Beta begins to charge in for an attack. The facedown monster revealing to be Cyber Jar. (Atk: 900 Def: 900)
"You just activated Cyber Jars effect Bastion. When it's flipped face up all monsters are destroyed then we pick up 5 cards and if any are level 4 or below monsters we can summon them, then the rest are added to our hands." Jaden explains as Cyber Jar self destructs destroying it and Beta the Magnet Warrior.
"You realize you're taking a big risk Jaden. Let's hope it was worth it." Bastion pointed out.
"Well see about that Bastion. I'll start off first Bastion. 1st draw, Elemental HERO Avian defense mode; 2nd card, Dark Factory of Mass Productions; 3rd card, Sakuretsu Armor; 4th card, Reinforcements of the Army; and 5th card, Elemental HERO Sparkman Attack mode! (Atk: 1600 Def: 1400)" Sparkman gets summoned to the field while Avian was in facedown defense position.
"Alright its my turn to to check. 1st card, Spiritua Earth Art - Kuragane; 2nd, card Valkyrion the Magnet Warrior; 3rd card, Sakuretsu Armor; 4th card, Insect Knight attack mode (Atk: 1900 Def: 1500); and 5th, card Gemini Elf Attack mode (Atk: 1900 Def: 900)" Insect Knight and Gemini Elf appeared on the field. "Its still my battle phase Jaden. Gemini Elf attack his Sparkman! And Insect Knight attack his facedown Avain!" The Elf girls attack Sparkman, while Insect Knight slashed the facedown Avian.
Jaden: 8000 - 7700 LP
"Now I activate the continuous spell, Two Man Cell Battle! Thanks to this spell during each of our end phases we are allowed to special summon one level 4 or lower Normal monster from our hand if able. I set two cards facedown and end my turn. Now Two Man Cell Battle activates. I special summon another Insect Knight from my hand. (Atk: 1900 Def: 1500)" Another Insect Knight appears onto the field, ending Bastions turn.
Hand 4
"Man, looks like that backfired on Jaden." Red Hat commented.
"What makes you say that?" Blair asked.
"Thanks to Cyber Jar, Jaden gave Bastion advantage one of his cards is removal. Jaden will have to be careful when making plays." he explained.
"Oh I see then."
"Here I go my turn I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 8
"I activate the spell Dark Factory of Mass Production! With this I add back two level 4 or lower normal monsters from my grave back to my hand. I chose Avian and Sparkman. Next I'll play spell Fusion Sage, which allows me to add Polymerization from my deck to my hand. Next up I play Reinforcements of the Army to add a level 4 or lower warrior monster from my deck to my hand. I chose Elemental HERO Clayman." Jaden explained as he added his cards.
'You plan to fuse aren't you Jaden. Just wait until I destroy your fusion just like I destroyed Chazz Catapult Cannon.' Bastion thought in amsument.
"It's fusion time. I play Polymerization! I fuse Sparkman and Clayman to form Elemental HERO Thunder Giant!" announced Jaden as Thunder Giant came out of the vortex.
"Awesome Jaden brought out one of his best fusions!" Syrus cheered.
"Bastion is for it now!" Chumley said.
"Now I activate Thunder Giant's effect. By discarding a card I can destroy a monster with less attack points then him once per turn. So your Gemini Elf gets destroyed! Go Static Blast! *discards Polymerization*" Thunder Giant fires a blast of thunder at Gemini Elf and destroying her. "Now that was Thunder Giant's special ability now attack his Insect Knight! Voltic Thunder!" As thunder Giant began to fire a blast of electricity, Bastion was prepared.
"I don't think so Jaden!" Bastion interrupted, surprising Jaden. "Go trap card Sakuretsu Armor your attacking Thunder Giant is destroyed!" Armored beast appeared taking the blast of electricity with ease and destryoing Thunder Giant.
"Thunder Giant!" gasped Jaden.
"That's for recklessly attacking Jaden. Now I have the advantage."
"Well see about that Bastion. I'll set a monster and throw down a facedown and end my turn." Jaden ends his turn.
Hand 3
"Aww, man Jaden is in trouble right now!" Syrus said in disbelief
"Not licious, Jaden is trouble and thanks to the spell Bastion can summon more monsters to his field."
"Jaden is in a tight spot. But he wont go down that easily." Red Hat said.
"You sure have a lot of faith in Jaden dont you." Blair commented.
"I always do. Jaden will always find a way to win."
"If you say so. I'm holding you to that though."
"Since there's nothing else you can do. It's my turn I draw!" Bastion draws.
Hand 5
"I summon another Gemini Elf in attack mode! (Atk: 1900 Def: 900) Battle, Insect Knight attack his facedown monster!" as Insect Knight began to charge in. Jaden was ready.
"My turn to activate the trap Sakuretsu Armor! So your Insect Knight gets destroyed!" As Jaden revealed his facedown, the Armored Beast appeared destroying Insect Knight.
"That may be but what will protect you from my other two monsters. Insect Knight number two attack his facedown monster!" The second Insect Knight charged in and attacked the facedown revealing to be Avian and destroying him. (Atk: 1000 Def: 1000) "Now Gemini Elf attack Jaden directly!" Both Elfs got behind Jaden and attacked him.
Jaden: 7700 - 5800 LP
"Don't think I'm done Jaden, go trap card Spiritual Earth Arts - Kurogane! Now by tributing an earth monster, I can special summon a level 4 monster from my graveyard except the same monster I tributed. I tribute my Insect Knight, to special summon my second Gemini Elf from my graveyard! (Atk: 1900 Def: 900) Now my seconf Gemini Elf attack Jaden directly! The second pair of elfs charged in and attacked from behind.
Jaden: 5800 - 3900 LP
"Here's a card you remember Jaden. I play the continuous spell Heart of the Underdog! Time to remind you what it does. During my draw phase if I drew a normal monster I reveal it then I can draw again. I can keep drawing so long as I keep drawing normal monsters. If not then I stop drawing. Now I set one card facedown. Two Man Cell battle effect activates I special summon Beta the Magnet Warrior from my hand in attack mode! (Atk: 1700 Def: 1600) With that ends my turn. Your move Jaden." Bastion ended his turn.
Hand 1
"Looks like we underestimated Bastion." Zane smiled. "Despite this play style, he's playing very well and has Jaden in a tight spot."
"No kidding. Guess that is why one must never underestimate trap cards." Alexis pointd out. 'Although I noticed Jaden has a facedown since the begining of the duel. What is he waiting for?' she thought. "I could be wrong, but I think Jaden has a comeback plan. I just hope he knows what he's doing."
"We'll find out soon enough if that's the case." Zane replied.
Meanwhile, Crowler was more then happy. He pounded the platform, smiling. "That's it Bastion! Show this Slifer Slacking Sludge who's boss! Show him he doesn't belong in the school duel!" He cheered.
"Look's like your friend Jaden is about lose." Blair said.
"Don't count Jaden out yet. It may look bad but he'll pull through." Red Hat said watching the duel closly.
"You still have that much faith in him? Well, if you say so."
"This may look bad, but I'll never give up Bastion. My turn, I draw!"
Hand 4
"Alright I play Pot of Greed, so I draw 2 cards!" Jaden drew his cards. "Now I play Reinforcement of the Army so now I get to add a level 4 or lower warrior so I choose Clayman! I set a monster, now I get to use your Two Man Cell Battle to special summon Clayman onto my field in defense mode! (Atk: 800 Def: 2000) With that I end my turn."
Hand 3
"With Clayman on the field Bastion wont be able to attck him since mosnt of his monster have only 1900 attack points!" Syrus pointed out.
"Yeah, so Clayman should buy Jaden some time to make a comeback." Chumely agreed.
"If you think Clayman will protect you for long, you're wrong Jaden. It's my turn. I draw!" Bastion draws.
Hand 2
"I drew Alpha the Magnet Warrior so I get to draw again. I drew Gamma the Magnet Warrior so I draw again. I drew another Gamma the Magnet Warrior. I drew Sabersarus so I draw again. I did not draw a Normal monster so I stop drawing, but this is brings me closer to victory Jaden!"
"Uh oh, this doesn't look good Syrus." Chumely said.
"Jaden you are in a tight spot. Bastion now has what he needs." Red Hat muttered to himself.
"Now I tribute Gamma the Magnet Warrior, Alpha the Magnet Warrior in my hand, and Beta the Magnet Warrior on my field to special summon Valkyrion the Magnet Warrior! (Atk: 3500 Def: 3850)" The three magnet warrior split up and combined themselves to form Valkyrion as he appeared on the field. "Now I summon Sabersaurs in attack mode! (Atk: 1900 Def: 500) Battle, Gemini Elf attack his facedown monster!" The two elfs jumped high and stomped at the facedown revealing Dark Catipulter (Atk: 1000 Def: 1500). This caused Red Hat to mentally facepalm when he saw the monster.
'Jaden why would you run that thing. It's one of the most contrive most useless way to destroy backrow. It doesnt Synergize with your deck either.' Red Hat thought.
"Now Valkyrion attack his Clayman! Power Sword Slash!" Valkyrion charged then jumped and slashed Clayman destroying him. "You're wide open. "My second Gemini Elf and finally Sabersarus attack Jaden directly!" The second pair of elfs went behind Jaden and kicked him while the dinosaur charged directly at Jaden knocking him off his feet, until Jaden got back up.
Jaden: 3900 - 2000 - 100 LP
"Now I set one card facedown. Two Man Cell Battle effect so I special summon Gamma the Magnet Warrior! With that I end my turn." Bastion ended his turn.
Hand 0
"Looks like I got you beat Jaden. So how do you plan and stopping me now. You have yet to land a single attack, and I havent even had to use my counter cards to stop you." Bastion explained to Jaden.
"As what I say Bastion the duel isnt over until the last card is played. It's my turn I draw!"
Hand 4
"Alright I play the field spell Skyscraper!" as Jaden was about to place the card in the field zone on his duel disk.
"I don't think so. Go quick play Mystical Space Tyhoon! With this I destroy your Skyscaper before you get to use it!" Bastion interrupted as the powerful winds of the typhoon destroyed the Skyscraper field spell. 'If he does plan to fuse something to destroy my other monsters I have a trap ready to finish him if he so tries.' Bastion thought as he was prepared.
"I'll set a monster and end my turn." Jaden ends his turn.
Hand 2
"That's it?" Syrus asked. "That's all? But all he's been playing so far is defense."
"I hope Jaden has a plan or he's gonzo." Chumley said.
'I sure hope Jaden knows what he's doing.' Alexis thought staring at the slifer wide-eyed.
"Looks like this duel is over. My turn I draw!" Bastion draws.
Hand 1
"Well then, this was an interesting duel but this must come to end. Valkyrion attack his facedown monster!" as Valkrion was about to charge in. Jaden was ready this time.
"This time you aren't getting an inch Bastion! Go quick play Transcendent Wings! I discard 2 cards from my hand then I send my facedown Winged Kuriboh on my field to the graveyard to special summon Winged Kuriboh LV10!" The Kuriboh revealed itself and expanded in a flash of light. Now it was larger, had a golden headpiece shaped like a dragon and wide white wings coming from its side, and used them to block Valkyrion's attack. "Now by tributing Winged Kuriboh LV10, I can destory all attack position monsters on your field and you take damage equal to their attack points!"
Bastion gasped at this realization. "Wait! That means...!"
"Bastion takes over ten thousand burn damage. 10700 to be exact." Red Hat pointed out.
"That's right! This duel is over Bastion! Go Winged Kuriboh!" The hit Kuriboh took now deflected the attack and itself destroyed all of Bastions monsters with a powerful flash of light.
Bastion: 8000 - 0 LP
Cheers erupted around them as the holograms disappeared.
"It's over. When it came to Jaden Yuki, Bastion miscalculated." Zane mused
Meanwhile, Crowler was extremely bothered by Jaden's victory as he got back on the platform. "Argh! Bastion lost? Does this slacker ever lose?!" Crowler tried to anncounce the winner but... "So! The winner is... I can't say it! I just can't say it!"
Sheppard stood up. "The winner is Jaden Yuki! Well done! You will be Duel Academy's rep at the school duel!"
"Way to play, Jay!" Syrus praised as he and the others came down to congratulate him.
"Good job." Chumley said.
"Indeed." Bastion agreed as he waled up to them. "You beat me fair. Rather, you beat this deck. You can be assured, there will be another."
"And another duel, I hope! 'Til then!"
Bastion smiled and held out his hand. Jaden looked down at it, smiled and slapped it before shaking it.
Red Hat came up to them with Blair right behind him. "Very impressive Jaden. You pulled off an amazing trick, despite how questionable it was." Red Hat praised.
"Ha Ha! Thanks for rooting for me." Jaden said.
Blair stood back and watched. 'So cool despite his odds he won. He was also chipper throught the entire duel. Maybe...' Blair cheeks redden at what she was aabout to think. 'Ah! What am I thinking! I'm in love with Zane!' Red Hat took noticed of Blair behaviour.
"Are you okay Blair? You kinda spaced out there." Red Hat asked.
That snapped Blair out of her thoughts. "Oh it's nothing really. Your friend Jaden is really amazing, just like you said." Blair complimented him.
"Jaden is amazing isn't he. Even when pushed to a corner he always finds a way to win." Red Hat chuckled. 'Although, now Crowlers plans failed once again. That should put him down for a while until his next stupid scheme.' he though to himself.
"Guess what you told me is true. Jaden is an amazing duelist." Blair stated.
"And Jaden always has fun when dueling." Red Hat said. "In contrast to myself where I take it to seriously."
"That's an understatment of the year." Blair teased.
"H...Hey! What's that supposed to mean?" Red Hat asked.
Blair stook her tongue out at him. "Oh nothing really." she said before starting to run off.
"Hey, get back here! Tell me what do you mean!?" Red Hat yelled as he now started to chase after Blair.
While the audiance in the stands didn't noticed them. Jaden and his friends sure did notice. "My, those two get a long very well don't they." Bastion commented. "I never see Red Hat act this way around anyone really."
"It's always nice that Red Hat finds some friends to get along with." Jaden said.
"Don't they hang out too much though?" Syrus asked
"Nah Sy, after all it's very rare for Red Hat to hang out with others besides us. Not that we mind of course." Chumley explained.
"As long as Red Hat is happy hanging out with him and us. There's nothing to worry about." Jaden chimed in.
"Although he does need to be careful. Red Hat himself doesn't have the best reputaion in the entire Academy." Bastion points out.
"We shouldn't intrude on them when it's not necessary. Besides it looks like Blair is enough to keep out of trouble. We'll intervine if Red Hat goes too far." Jaden said.
"I hope we made the best choice in this matter."
With that the others then finally left the arena and headed back to their dorms. Outside Jaden saw that Red Hat was still chasing Blair. 'Red Hat, maybe having him around can help you cheer up more. Besides dueling me of course ha ha!' Jaden thought before he and the others kept on walking.
A/N: That's it for this chapter. I didn't bother with Gerard as he adds nothing in the anime episode, but to fill up time. So I'm not including him. Another point Im not wasting my time with pointless filler as no one cares. 3 fillers, mixed in one chapter, I did that to save time cause Im not wasting my time and you readers time reading practically the same thing with very minor changes so I'm not bothering. I want to cut to the chase as soon as possible. Next time instead of wasting time with Belowski as there's nothing new to add. Next time is a remix of the Tag Force 2 Blair route event 1. So until then.
P.S: Comments 2 of them specfifcally (I refuse to call it the review section. Its a comment section lets be real.) So many flawed arguments me and a friend of mine are still laughing. 1. This fic was purposely made to mock all the bs in the anime cause there's so many problems it's not even funny. (Example Syrus using Magic Cylinder in his hand with JetRoids effect even though the rulings states Ancient Gear Golem disables all spells and traps even in the hand even if monster effect like Jetroid allows you to) 2. I made this incarnation of Red Hat on purpose cause so many make him into a Jaden clone or super nice guy that just happens to be more aware. It gets old really fast. 3. Red Hat was never intended to be a character, he was intended to be a self insert. His design just stuck in all Tag Force games 5Ds Tag Force games they changed his model to fit 5Ds.(Its also why I do not consider GX Red Hat and 5Ds Red Hat the same person. Unless there is evidence saying otherwise cause I cant find any for the life of me.) The PS2 version of Tag Force 1 came after Tag Force 2 so that's not really a point to make his real name is Konami (BTW its also a lazy name XD). Red Hat isn't supposed to be Link. Also what's wrong with having nameless character. It's awkward but not uncommon. 4. I do irl duels with irl rules cause Im sick of seeing the anime being used as the standard. Someone who has played Duel Links Yugioh was never intended to be played with 4000 Lp which is why the anime has to knee cap itself by dragging the duel or never giveing the character good cards that are actually used such as Mst Heavy Storm Dark Hole. YugiohPro even has 2 vs 1 and 3 vs 1 duels. That way, no Triangle Duel BS which is the anime excuse for a free for all. 5. I use irl meta decks of the time period of GX or Rouge strategies. Main reason is cause Im not gonna force myself to play random gimmicky trash decks for the sake of a dumb quota by commenters who never played Old School Yugioh beyond play ground formats. It's also to mock anime character poorly made decks which is why no anime cards will appear unless it's to make a joke which is why I even bothered with Harrington duel in the first place.(Custom Cards... Unless your fanfic is a parody or self parody using Custom Cards is inexcusable and extremely lazy) It's also why I had to overhaul various decks such as Jaden cause early E HEROs are a chore to work with. While Tag Force games gives me reference, I do try and mix it up. 6. That Naruto comparrison is dumb. I never watched that crap in my entire life so I have no idea what your are even talking about or comparring. When you play Yugioh for so long, you never want to go back to the anime standards cause theres so much BS and cause the anime is allergic to conventional removal like Dark Hole Smashing Ground etc. That's the another reason I made Red Hat into that persona even though it's unnecessary. If all you duel are crap decks such as every single Obelisk Blue Duel, you begin to question what the standards are. 7. Obelisk Blues both dub and anime are the biggest assholes and entitled pricks I ever seen in a show. All they view is rank. Doesn't matter is someone from Ra or Slifer Red is the best duelist all they care is rank cause that's all that means to them. Even as of Season 4 Obelisk Blues still treat Jaden and other non-Obelisk like absolute shit. No that throw away line Alexis says in episode 2 doesnt count. No evidence to speak of in the show, so Im not gonna follow that standard. (A Tag Force 2 bio states if it wasn't for Jaden. Alexis wouldn't have cared about the Slifer Dorm so she is no better in that regard) 8. Jaden tollerates the shit from Obelisk cause he's the protagonist. Irl you are not gonna put up with that so that's why I made so Red Hat berades them, doesn't put up with their ways, and shows them the rank means nothing but he's aware Obelisk do not care about what he says or if he proves them wrong; the Obelisk Blues do not and will not care and still act like they are the best cause they are Elite snobs. 9. the duel with Red Hat and Chazz. If you played Obelisk Blue Chazz route in Tag Force 3. Chazz is the most annoying snobby and outright Tyranical character I ever seen. That FTk duel was show Obelisk Chazz deserves to lose with such savagery and disrespect cause I hate Obelisk Blue Chazz as a character. I get that route is non-canon, but it still bugs me to this day and has forever changed my view on Chazz. 10 No one wants to see, let alone read a character suck at playing Yugioh so hard where they lose to a Caveman Yugioh deck from 2002. If any of you remember Yuma for the longest time was the most hated yugioh protagonist cause he was so terrible at playing the game where he cant win at all and he always need Astral for help. It made early Zexal a chore to watch. Reason I point this out is cause another fanfic I read a long time ago where they made a female Red Hat. Oh boy so incompetant at dueling it was a chore to read. (No disrespect for the author. My standards are far too high in dueling). Its also the worst way for character development as it comes off as so forced. That's another reason why I made my incarnation of Red Hat like this. Also you're just assuming that's what I have planned for this incarnation of Red Hat. I tend to avoid cliches unless it can't be avoided for reasons. Anyway thats enough rambling. This was written to adress so many things. I'll delete these notes in a few weeks max.
