It was now the middle of September and all had been going well with the small family. Eric has been around more realizing how close he was to losing his own daughter through his own actions. He was actually surprised when Adam actually pulled Eric along to spend time with them all. Adam never made him feel like an outsider. That was truly impressing for Eric. He decided that Adam wasn't such a bad guy. He even stayed at Adams place a few times when his flights got cancelled. It was better than a hotel and it was free so who was he to complain. As for the couple they were beyond happy together. They were working hard to plan Allie's 6th birthday party. She wanted a roller skating party this year. Kim wasn't happy about that but they would make it work. Kim started to buy all the decorations needed and ordered the cake. They also agreed just to get pizzas for the party to keep it simple. They invited their coworkers, Allie's friends from school, Kim's family, Adams family and Eric's family. This was the first of many event where they all needed to be together. They were not doing separate parties, that was bullshit and not happening.

Kim and Adam had been working very hard lately. Cases have been none stop and the couple had been exhausted but coming home to each other made it all worth it. And since Eric has been around more the couple had been able to do date nights more often. Eric even offered to watch Riley because the kids really loved each other and wanted to be together. He had decided to work from Kim's house today as his flight to Newark was cancelled due to a hurricane on the east coast. It also allowed for more time with Allie when she got out of school so it was a win in his mind. He was in a meeting when he heard a knock on the door. He looked out not knowing who it was, but he didn't know all of Kim's friends let alone Adams friends. "Hi can I help you?" Eric asked looking through a small crack. "You know you wife is cheating on you?" The women said. "Um excuse me? I'm not married. I think you have the wrong house." Eric tried shutting the door. "I'm telling you she's cheating on you! Listen to me, she's cheating!" The women yelled. "Look lady I don't know who the hell you are. But no one is cheating on me. I don't have a wife, I don't have a girlfriend, no one is cheating on me." Eric tried to close the door again. "His name is Adam. You have to listen to me!" The women kept screaming. Eric slammed the door and called Kim right away.

"Hey there is some crazy women at the door screaming that you are cheating on me. I locked the door. Send cops! She knows Adam! Hurry!" Eric calls into the phone. "Okay I'm calling it in. Set the alarm. I will call you back!" Kim yelled as she hung up. "21-14 to dispatch. Need police to my home address. Disturbed person on my lawn trying to get in my home. Also dispatch 50-21 Ida to the same address." Kim radioed in. "Kim what's going on?" Adam called her right away. "Disturbed person at the house screaming at Eric that I'm cheating on him with you. She knew your name." Kim explained. "I'm on my way!" Adam rushed to get to the house as quick as possible. He was met with more possible, a screaming women, Eric and Kim not far behind him.

"Adam! Who the hell is that?" Eric asked watching as they put her in the patrol car. "Oh god! It can't be!" Adam stood dumb founded. "Baby what's wrong?" Kim asked touching his arm. "She's back. My god she's back Kim. Why? She can't be here." Adam wasn't making sense. "Adam who is she?" Kim and Eric both looked confused. "She can't take him away. I won't allow it. She left him. She signed away her rights. He's mine!" Adam burst into tears. Kim pulled him into a hug now understanding exactly who it was. Even Eric seemed to get it now. They would fight this together as a family. "We all got you! Legally Riley is your son and only yours. I will protect you both." Kim knew this would be a fight but the law was on their side.

As the couple stood there in shock everyone else left them be. Neither aware of how to handle this new found situation. "Let's head to your apartment, get the papers that show you are the legal parent, the only legal parent. Then we head back to the district to start the fight. Come on." Kim took over driving Adam back to his place. They got the paperwork from the safe and headed back to the 21st. As they entered the district Platt nodded to the upstairs letting them know she was up there. As they entered the bullpen they were met with understanding looks from their friends. "I'm not sure you should talk to her. What do I need to know." Voight asked looking at the couple. "Here is all the legal papers. She left when I was in the academy without a word. Just moved her stuff out of my place. 9 months later I come home to find a one month old child on my doorstep. I freaked out but with my family figured it out. She signed away her parental rights. But I got a lawyer to try and find her to make sure this was what she wanted because I didn't want this to ever happen. She didn't show up for court so legally her rights were stripped." Adam explained. "Adam. That car, that silver car that's been outside my house for over a month, was that her car? Has she been stalking us?" Kim asked scared to death.

"Jay get Mouse on that now. And get a search warrant for this women's home. Al come on, let's talk to Wendy." Voight headed out as the team worked. Kim and Adam went to watch the interview. The couple received looks as they walked towards the interview room, no one could imagine what they were dealing with. "Okay Wendy. Can you tell us why you were outside of that home today?" Voight asked as he sat down with the folder. Al standing behind her. "I had to warn the man there that he was being cheated on." She replied. "Do you even know who he is? Why didn't you believe him when he said he's not married or dating anyone?" Voight asked leaning back in the chair. "I know they are together I've seen them hugging each other. They say that they love each other." Wendy rambled. "I tell that same young lady that I love her too. But I'm not in love with her. She like my kid. How did you know he was even there today? He wasn't supposed to be." Al asked knowing she would be caught stalking after this. "I drove by and saw his car." Wendy replied not realizing she messed up. "So you just happen to drive through that exact neighborhood? And you just so happen to know what rental car he picked up from the airport the night before? Don't need to answer that. We got you on stalking." Al stated looking towards the glass knowing the couple was watching.

"Now how did you know about Kim and Adam being together? Is it because you are stalking them as well?" Voight asks. Before she could answer there was a knock on the door. "Boss you need to see this!" Moises rushed in to show Voight what he found. She was most definitely stalking the couple, the kids and all the parents. She had been busy that's for sure. "So no need to answer. We have proof you were stalking them as well as their kids. Not to mention their parents. We have enough to search your home. What else are we going to find?" Voight asked. "I want my son back! Adam took him from me!" Wendy screamed trying to get up from the table. Al pushing her back down. "Now see these. This one shows you signed away all rights to the minor child. This one here shows where the judge stripped you of rights after you failed to appear in court. See Adam wanted to give you a chance to change your mind. You didn't show so the judge decided for you. You abandoned your child on his doorstep. Someone could have taken the child. You would have better off leaving him at a firehouse, police station or hospital. But you didn't. So here's how this is all going to play out for now. You are getting charged with 12 counts of stalking, 1 count of disturbing the peace, 1 count of child neglect and 1 count of endangering the welfare of a minor. I highly doubt you will be out anytime soon." Voight closed the papers and left the room. Wendy sat there frozen. They weren't sure what was going on but right they didn't care. She was going to lock up.

The couple stood watching the scene before them. Adam holding Kim tight the entire time as they listened to the paranoid ramblings on this mad women. "I have questions I need answers to. Voight please let me talk to her. I really need answers. I can't keep looking over my shoulder after this. Please? I will take Kev. He can keep me in line." Adam begged knowing he needed to talk to her. "Fine but I'm going to watch. If you get out of line I will bench you." Voight watched Adam and Kevin enter the room. "Hey. I need some answers that only you can answer. So tell me why you left without a word? Why you didn't tell me you were pregnant with my son?" Adam asked her, imploring her to answer. "You were more interested in being a cop then a boyfriend. You loved your job more than me. I wanted to punish you with guilt, worry, fear." Wendy stated like she didn't care.

"You wanted to punish me for wanted to be a cop? Let's get this straight. I love my job, I truly love my job. I'm not sure I loved you, ever. But I didn't deserve you keeping me from knowing about my son. Why did you leave him at my door? My sign over your rights?" Adam asked shocked and confused. "Because he was your child. And you are scum! I deserved better than you. I deserve someone who put me first always and not some job. I forced you to grow up. Did you enjoy your crash course In parenting? Hope so because I'm taking him back from you." Wendy smirked as she sneered at him. "You are crazy! You dropped him on my doorstep as a way to make me grow up? Are you insane? Let me tell you this. I will never give you access to my child. You will never be allowed to see my child. And let me make this even more clear, when you didn't show for court you lost all parental rights, you aren't even on the birth certificate anymore. And just so we are even more clear, this was all on video." Adam got up to leave.

"I will get him back because I'm better than you. I'm smarter than you. And I know how to feel emotions that you don't know exist. I know how to work the system to get him back. Trust me." Wendy snickered. "Well you just admitted on camera and with witnesses to bring manipulative. And you may be smarter but you were careless. We have you on camera, on video stalking my family. My son knows love. Not just from me but from my family. From the love of my life and her family. You are not needed or wanted in our lives. And you will stay away from us or you will go to jail for the rest of your life. Now enjoy your stay in prison." Adam left the room. Walking straight into Kim's arms. "We need to make this stick. We can't let her get out of jail!" Adam stayed worried for his son. "We will keep her away I promise. She's clearly insane! We just need to get her in jail or the psych ward. That would be more permanent of a solution." Voight stated. "Let's call Dr Charles here to put her on a psych hold, it's 72 hours so that gives us extra time to make a larger case against her." Al suggested as a way to keep Adams son safe.

"Absolutely let's do that. We need everything we can get on her. Especially to keep us all safe from her." Adam was eager to try anything to help this case move forward. "We are moving forward with this. We will make your son safe. Let's just take a minute while Al makes the call." Voight brought Adam and Kim into the break room to relax some. "Kim, I'm so sorry! I never wanted this. I never thought she would be back. And she used my son as punishment. How could she do that? Maybe I wasn't a good boyfriend to her but using a child, that's just wrong." Adam hung his head in shame. "Baby! I doubt that you were a bad boyfriend. But your heart probably wasn't fully in that relationship. And that's my fault. Our hearts were tied together for 13 years. But you don't deserve to be punished." Kim assured him kneeling in front of him holding his face in her hands. "It's not your either Kim. But I think you are right, about us. We are meant to be together and this only proved it. I owe you for everything. My will to live, my will to fight, my will to keep loving even in the face of despair. Just don't leave me ever again." Adam begged as he moved to kiss her. "Never baby! It's you me and the kids forever! No one is changing that!" Kim cried fearing this would tear them apart if something went wrong.

When Dr Charles showed up the team was working feverishly to find more evidence against Wendy to make her go away for life, or at least locked up somewhere where she can't hurt anyone. Voight came out of his office to greet the man. "Thank you for coming. This effects two of our own. But all in all it effects the whole team. The women is mother of Ruzeks kid. Left the kid on his doorstep, sign away her rights, didn't show at the court hearing. Now claims she's going to take the boy back and she was using him to punish Adam. The interview is on camera. She's also been stalking Kim, Adam and their families. We need her locked up in jail or in a psych ward. Don't care which but it has to stick." Voight was direct to the point, he needed this over and fast. "Well let me talk to her and see what I can find out. And then I will watch the interviews. Get a more clear picture of what's happening." Dr Charles stated. He walked down the hall to interview room. The team watched on baited breath.

"Well hello Wendy. I'm Dr Charles. I thought we could talk about why you are here. Do you understand why you are herein this room?" Charles asked watching Wendy stare at the mirror. "Because Adam is a scumbag! I want my son back now. He won't let me have my son. He told me he will keep me away from my son." Wendy answered still looking straight at the mirror. "So you didn't sign away your parental rights or leave the child on Adams doorstep?" Charles asked in an even tone. "I did that to punish him for being a shitty boyfriend. For being more into your job then me." Wendy replied smugly. "So you treated him like pawn? Why were you following Adam and Kim around?" Charles asked. "I was going to take him back. I was just waiting for him to be dropped off when the cops weren't around. He's my child! They were keeping him from me!" Wendy broke. She started screaming before she flipped the table and charged at Dr Charles. Voight was through the door before she made contact. Wendy broke down in tears realizing she screwed up. She told him her plan. She was done for. Too many hours in that room broke her down and the mask slipped showing her true colors.

Kim let out a sigh of relief and Adam knees buckled. It was over at least for now. They had a long way to go with assessments and hearings but today was over. "Let's go get our kids!" Adam look so happy in that moment. "Yeah let's get our kids!" Kim giggled as they moved out of the room hand in hand. They stopped by the locker room for Kim to change before heading into the lobby. So happy and full of love they never saw the attack coming. A hand slapping Adam across the face so hard the crack could be heard upstairs. "You scumbag! How dare you!" The women screamed at Adam. Kim watched in horror. "Ma'am you just assaulted a police officer. So turn around you are under arrest!" Kim looked for anyone to give her cuffs. "Kim darling it's okay. They are Wendy's parents. Just let it go. I'm fine." Adam tried to not make this worse than it was. "Oh so now you're the nice guy! You stole my grandson!" She slapped him again. "Okay that's it! You are now definitely under arrest! And we will move this into the commanders office to talk further!" Kim was pissed and taking charge.

"First off ma'am the cuffs stay on but I will move them to the front but don't try anything else." Kim all but spit nails with her stern voice. "Mrs Davis let me assure you I did not steal your grandson. This is actually the first time I was aware you knew about him at all. Your daughter dropped him on my doorstep with papers signing away her rights. You can see the papers yourself. Today she confessed to doing that as punishment, to teach me a lesson. And that she planned to steal him back from me. Your daughter is sick, mentally, and needs help. But I never kept her away. I asked the court to find her and bring her in for a custody hearing. I was giving her a chance to change her mind. I have all the paperwork, including a copy of the log she signed showing she received the court hearing documents. I truly did try. I know I'm far from perfect but I did try." Adam explained to the mother, her husband shocked seeing his wife in cuffs.

"Look I think there has been a misunderstanding here. Our daughter is not mentally ill. She's just been trying to get here son back. And he hasn't allowed it. That's what we were told at least. This is the first time we are seeing these documents. I guess I don't understand." Mr Davis looked completely confused about what was happening. "Your daughter is most definitely mentally unstable. After realizing she admitted to her plan she flipped a table and tried to attack a therapist. Anyone who drops a baby off on the fathers doorstep as punishment is unstable. She had been stalking all of us, my ex included for over a month trying to find the right time to make a move. Today being the day she hoped for by showing up at my home when my ex was there. Ranting at him, not sure what she thought he would do other than call the cops. I think she thought Riley was inside the home since he didn't leave with us this morning when we left for work. He stayed with Adams father last night to watch the game while Adam worked late. Eric, my ex, was not going to let her in either way. But she's going to get the help she needs but she will never see Riley, ever!" Kim needed them to understand and hearing it from Adam wasn't going to help.

"I can't believe she made all this up. But why? I don't understand." Mrs Davis shook her head. "Look I get I wasn't the best boyfriend to her. I get that I put my job first. But at the end of the day I would have left her anyway. My heart wasn't in it. She wanted to move in fully, I said no. She hinted at getting engaged, I ignored it. My heart has been wrapped up in Kim, this women right here for 13 years. Fate brought us back together. Moving a relationship further with Wendy would have been wrong and even if I didn't realize I was waiting for Kim, my brain did. My soul did. I never wanted to hurt her but she wanted things I couldn't give her." Adam shrugged almost embarrassed that he had been a disappointment. "Well you are right, it would have been wrong and it sounds like you tried to do the right thing for you. To be true to you, even if it's not what she wanted. I know this is asking a lot but would you consider allowing us to meet him, Riley. On mutual ground of course. I know after today we probably don't deserve it but we would like to try to mend things." Mr David asked pleading with his eyes.

"We can try. But we will be there the entire time. I don't want to be accused of anything I didn't do, it's not been a fun day that's for sure. But I believe in second chances so we can try it but if I feel like somethings not right, it's done. I won't lose my son to anyone. And he doesn't know anything about his mother, I wouldn't even know where to begin on that. So for now we can just go by first names. But I promise you this, if you try to take my son Chicago PD will rain down on you and you will never see the light of day again." Adam left the room after that needing to calm down. Kim watched as he headed straight for Platt's back office area. He needed to breathe away from prying eyes. Adam called his dad and had Riley brought to the district. After explaining the situation his father was hesitant but understood. He also asked to stay close by just in case.

When the little boy arrived Kim was waiting for them in the lobby. Adam was dealing with the Davis's. He had agreed to drop the charges against Mrs Davis as a sign of good faith. They only hoped they didn't live to regret it. "Hey Kim. He just woke up so he's a little grumpy." Bob was still holding the small boy. "Thank you for bringing him. Hey my sweet boy." Kim whispered next to his ear. "Kimmie!" Riley yelled launching into her arms. He loved her so much. Kim laughed as she caught him. "Do you want to go say hi to our friends before seeing daddy?" Kim asked wanting to give Adam and Bob some time to talk. "Yes!" Riley yelled. Kim nodded and walked towards the office first. "Hey babe. I'm gonna take him to see the team before we hit the park. He just woke and you how he is when he wakes. I think he just needs a few more minutes with familiar people before we do this." Adam nodded as they headed upstairs to see the team.

"Look who I have!" Kim announced as they entered the bullpen. Everyone turned with a huge smile. They hadn't seen him often but they knew Riley pretty well. The team took turns passing him around getting snuggles. This kid was pure Adam and loved all the attention on him. "Hey Riley can you come sit with me at daddy's desk?" Kim asked waiting everyone to hear the next thing. "So you and I are going to head to the park next door now. Daddy and grandpa Bob are there. And they have two new people for you to meet. Now if you don't feel safe daddy and I will be right there Okay. But we still have to be polite okay?" Kim asked watching the small boy nod. The team looked confused so Kim lifted Riley and walked to wipe board and wrote Wendy's parents knowing Riley couldn't read yet. They all looked shocked but tried to be supportive. "We can explain later. But for now we have to go right sweetie? Let's go slide and swing!" Kim stated swing the boy from side to side watching him laugh wildly.

Kim was still unsure about this situation so she texted the team letting them know to stay close around the park with as many plain clothes officers as possible. She wasn't taking a chance but she didn't tell Adam. They met Adam and the others at the park, Riley still laughing about being tickled by Kim. As they got closer Kim placed Riley down so he could run to Adam. He hadn't had time with daddy yet and their bond was unbreakable. "Daddy! I miss you!" Riley yelled at he ran into Adams arms being picked up and twirled around in a circle laughing loudly. "I missed you too my sweet boy! Would you like to meet some new people? Daddy used to them." Adam asked quietly as Riley buried his face in Adams neck hiding. "You have to Riley it's okay buddy. Do you want me to push you on the swing?" Kim offered trying to make it a little easier.

Riley was excited to get on the swings with Kim. Adam stayed back with the Davis's watching the scene before them. "He's a beautiful boy! I wish we hadn't lost two years. Are you really sure that our daughter signed over her rights?" Mrs Davis asked. "Yes. The signature matched. She did all this. Kim and I need to move on but we both need to make sure our kids are safe. This isn't just about Riley, Wendy put Allie at risk too." Adam spoke while watching his family. He loved watching them. It made him incredibly happy. "So stand closer maybe try talking to him. But don't mention Wendy, he knows nothing about her." Adam warned as they walked closer. He nodded towards Kim letting her know he told them to move closer. Adam noticed out of the corner of his eye cops standing around the park. He caught Kim's eyes and nodded towards them silently asking if Kim called them. Kim nodded yes slightly causing Adam to smile.

After about an hour Riley was running around playing with all the adults. He was relaxed and took all the attention he was receiving from each adult. He even allowed the Davis's to hold him. As the adults were walking towards the picnic table to sit and talk more Mrs Davis was carrying Riley. Kim just had a bad feeling, something seemed off, her gut screaming. Kim squeezed Adams hand, he looked over to see the fear in her eyes. When he turned back he saw the Davis's running off with Riley. Thankful they didn't get far, not even to the edge of the park before Kevin and Antonio were there grabbing them and taking them into custody. When Adam get closer he looked at them sneering. "I told you not to mess with me or CPD would rain down on you. Now you can join your daughter in jail." Adam picked up his son who was sobbing, scared to death. "How did you even know?" Mr Davis asked. "I learned years ago as a rape victim. Never fully trust anyone that you don't know 100%. I asked for help before we left the district. Kev make sure you add assault of a police officer on to her charges, she slapped Adam twice earlier." Kevin nodded leaving the small family to rest and heal.

They watched all the officers leave the park walking past them. It was amazing how many stepped out to help them. Some had the day off and still stopped to help out. They truly had an amazing family. "Daddy? Is Kimmie mommy?" Riley asked shyly. "Absolutely buddy. Kimmie will be your mommy forever!" Adam agreed without talking to Kim first but by the tears in her eyes she was totally on board with the idea. "Let's get our family home. Let's get our son home!" Adams eyes shone with pure love. "Yes let's get our son home!" Kim cried out watching their friends cheer them on as they kissed passionately in the park. You would have thought they had gotten married the cheers were so loud. They both started to laugh hugging their friends and heading home.

Eric and Allie were waiting for them at home. Eric was very concerned when he saw the car pull up. All concerns were erased when he saw the couple smiling and laughing. He let Allie run out to meet them. "Mommy! Daddy Adam! Riley!" She screamed as she ran towards them. Kim picked her up right away. "Hey sweetie! How was your day?" Kim asked as they hugged. "Good daddy said we had to play inside today since it was too hot out but it doesn't feel to hot. I think he just didn't want to." Allie rolled her eyes causing the couple to laugh loudly. "Well it was a bit of a crazy day so he was trying to keep you safe. But everything is okay now so we can play outside tonight." Kim placed her down as she ran inside with the family.

"Hey? Everything good?" Eric asked as he hugged Kim. "Yeah two in jail and one on a psych hold. So yeah it's great." Kim nodded as she moved further in the house. "Biological mom?" Eric asked Adam. Adam just nodded. "Was using him as punishment since I was a bad boyfriend apparently. And now wanted him back so she was going to steal him today. Her parents tried but Kim had undercover cops placed all around the park just in case. She totally saved his life today and mine. If they had been successful I would be in jail. But Kim's natural distrust of people didn't allow them to get out of sight. Freaking rockstar." Adam was so proud of her.

"Wow sounds like a crazy day but I happy to hear it all worked out. I was definitely concerned today." Eric admitted. "Thanks we were too. Hoping this is the end of all this crap for awhile. We truly have faced enough already. I want a smooth next few months. We have the holidays coming up and I want this one to be perfect since it's the first together you know?" Adam wasn't actually looking for an answer just talking. "I get what your saying. Maybe the birthday party will start the good luck." Eric mused. "Maybe but for now let's go play with the kids and order some dinner. I'm not cooking!" Adam laughed as they headed outside with the kids and Kim.

The small extended, blended family played the rest of the night together. They enjoyed dinner outside before playing games again. It was a dream come true for the whole family. After the kids went to bed Eric left for the night and Kim and Adam were left to enjoy each other and the family they created. They laid in bed wrapped together in total happiness and bliss. "Move in with us. We need this, I want this." Kim whispered in to his neck. "Absolutely darling!" Adam kissed her head before falling asleep with the love of his life.
