"Darling. It's time to get up." Adam rubbed her back trying to wake her. "Not yet I'm too comfy. Please snuggle closer again." Kim buried her face in his chest. "Kim Baby we need to get moving. I'm comfy too but we need to move." Adam smiled as she opened her eyes. "Hey I'm really sorry about yesterday. I should have thought twice about it. But I jumped right in and I hurt you. Again. I want you to know that I'm going to therapy today. I will sort this out, I promise. I will not let you down again. I promise you! I love you so much!" Kim held his face making sure to hold eye contact even as she started to cry. "Kim darling it's okay. We talked about this yesterday. It's going to be okay. You will talk to Dr Charles and tonight will be better. We got this. We will have fights, we will have disagreements, we will get through this together. I promise you we are good. And I promise you I love you too." Adam kissed her softly.
"Okay let's get up. Maybe we can shower together today. No kids to worry about and I have scratches that I need to make better. Gotta kiss those boo boos!" Kim winked as she unwrapped herself from his arms and strutted towards the bathroom. "Well damn! I should get injured more often then!" Adam smirked as he moved towards her quickly. Wrapping his arms around her from behind causing her to squeal. Kim turned on the shower while Adam brushed his teeth. Kim was right behind him before stripping her clothes and jumping in the shower. Once Adam entered the shower Kim started to wash his body gently. After he was clean she placed kisses on each one of his scratches and on each bruise on his body. Tears in her eyes seeing the damage she did to his body.
"Darling! Please don't cry! You didn't know it was me. You thought you were back in that office being attacked. This will happen. It's part of the PTSD. I'm not upset about it. At least not with you. Voight should have never put you in that situation. He knew you wouldn't say no. He played you and your emotions to get his way, to close the case. This isn't on you." Adam kissed her before cleaning her body spending extra time on her private areas. Once they were finished in the shower they dried each other off. They went to get dressed before heading to the kitchen to get coffee. After coffee they headed to the district. They had one last kiss before heading into the building and going in separate directions. Adam stepped into the bullpen and saw he was the last one there. He wasn't completely surprised as they took their time this morning.
"How did it go last night?" Erin asked as she walked closer to his desk. "Great. We hashed it out. Both apologized and then we settled into a bath. Everything was going well till the night terror set it and she started hitting me and scratching me trying to get away. She thought I was him. She cried for a long time. Then this morning she cried all over again when she saw my chest. So great night and morning." Adam sighed as he sat down. "I'm sorry! That's horrible! How are you doing now?" Erin asked sighing seeing his broken face in that moment. "I'm okay. Just mad that she was put in that situation. He knew she wouldn't back down. And it caused her nightmares to come back. After months of not having any, they are back. She's going to therapy today. Wants to make sure it doesn't happen again." Adam ran his hand over his face. He felt helpless to help her again.
"Hey it's going to be okay. You will be fine, the two of you will be fine together. You are stronger together. Remember that always." Erin patted his shoulder walking towards Jay giving him a knowing look. She walked into Voight office. "Hey just so you know Adams not thrilled with you right now. And I can't blame him. Kim had a night terror and attacked him. Her first in months apparently. She has a therapy appointment today. Just thought I would give you the heads up." Erin didn't let him speak before she was back at her desk. The team sat and did paperwork from the from past cases and clean up their desks. Voight never left his office.
Kim was out on patrol rolling through her day. Mostly easy cases that were cut and dry. It allowed her to stay busy and not worry too much about the day before. While it was over and done with it didn't make her feel any better about what happened. As she headed to her therapy appointment she was nervous but knew this was necessary to move forward. "Hey Dr Charles thanks for seeing me on such short notice." Kim stated as she sat down in a chair. "Kim, it's no problem. I'm here to help. I know you gave me some details in the call but what happened that brought you here for help?" He asked. "Yeah So Voight basically said he needed me to interview a teenage rape victim since that was me at one point. Adam said he wasn't allowing it to happen in front of the full team. We fought, I did the interview, stayed with the victim the entire time. I eventually went home. We hashed things out. It wasn't entirely ugly but we worked through it. Anyway I had a night terror last night and beat Adam. I thought it was my attacker, I was fighting to get free but I hurt Adam, again. We talked and things are good but I feel so guilty. I keep hurting him. First as kids when I broke his heart and pushed him away. Now twice with night terrors. How is he not mad at me? Why hasn't he walked away? My baggage it just never ends." Kim cried as she spoke.
"Kim, have you ever considered that he loves you no matter what? That he doesn't think your baggage is too much? None of this is your fault. It never was. The bruises you inflicted, the scratches you inflicted, weren't your fault. Voight shouldn't have asked you to do that. You have made so much progress these last few months, Voight knows that. This shouldn't have happened ever. But I think the take away here is that it's okay to say no to Voight if it means doing something that could trigger you. It's okay to be true to you. And out your mental health first. I think that is what Adam was getting at when he told Voight no. He knew you were strong enough but the mental toll would be too much. It's like picking at a fresh scab and then it bleeds again. You may feel healed but you still need time to get fully better." Dr Charles explained as they sat for their session.
The hour went by with lots of tears but Kim felt lighter when she left knowing she was doing the best she could. Life would have ups and downs. There would be bruises but she was not an abuser. She wasn't going out if her way to harm him. That was the difference. She headed back to work letting Adam know that her session was complete and was feeling better. And wanted to talk later about her session. They both knew talking was key to making things better and for healing. He replied that he was proud of her and that he loved her. Kim returned to the beat keeping her head down working hard. As Kim finished her shift she headed to pick up the kids before taking them home. She was thrilled to have their laughter filling her home. She needed it. She was also surprised when Adam rolled in 30 minutes later with take out from their favorite place.
"I just wanted to take it easy tonight. You, me, the kids. We need that, you need that. So let's eat while it's still hot." Adam placed the food on the table and proceeded to open the containers. "Thank you this is perfect!" Kim kissed him before calling the kids to join them. "So kids tell us about your sleepover?" Adam asked as he helped to feed Riley. He did pretty well but always made a mess. Adam tried to keep the mess to a minimum. "Grandma played games with us. And let us finger paint. She hung the paintings on the fridge!" Allie was super excited, she loved painting. "Wow! Did you make a big mess?" Kim asked already knowing the answer. "Yes but grandma put plastic down so the mess didn't matter. It was so much fun!" Allie yelled. Adam laughed knowing the mess she could make and thankfully he warned his mother before hand.
"Well I'm glad you guys had fun. And I'm glad you didn't make a big mess for her to clean up. Did you help with the clean up?" Kim asked hoping she was helpful. "No cause I was covered in paint. I had to take a bath. It was bad!" Allies serious face was hysterical. "Well I'm glad you had fun and that you took a bath. I'm sure it was well needed." Kim kissed her head before starting to eat again. "Riley did you have fun?" Adam asked already knowing the answer. "Yeah gamma fun. We play. Bath time. And seeping." Riley explained. Being two he still didn't have full words and sentence but they got the gist. "I'm glad you had fun. You like sleeping at grandmas house. And tomorrow you get to see grandpa!" Adam explained watching Riley's eyes light up. "But you have to sleep well tonight so you can have fun tomorrow Okay?" Adam watched Riley nodded his head as he ate more.
"So I have an idea. Since you both had baths already how about we have family movie night?" Kim asked watching both kids eyes light up. "Yes please!" Allie was super excited. Riley danced in his seat excited but happy eating his dinner. He was definitely Adams child, they both loved food. Kim cleaned up after dinner since Adam brought it home and served it. Adam helped the kids find a movie they could both agree on before getting the pillows and blankets to snuggle the kids up. Kim joined them shortly after to watch the movie. The kids enjoyed the movie however neither made it through the whole movie. Once they were completely asleep the couple took the kids upstairs to their bedrooms to sleep for the night.
"Should we talk now that the kids are asleep?" Adam asked as he walked towards the couch drinks in hand. "Yeah. You know I told him about the case. How Voight asked for me to help. How we fought obviously. How we talked it out. How I attacked you again. How I hurt you again. How I'm scared that this will all be too much and you will leave. And how I'm afraid that I'm a abusive partner." Kim explained with tears in her eyes. "Kim. Darling. You are not an abuser! You didn't set out to hit me. You didn't set out to hurt me, we both know that! As for hurting me in the past, it's in the past. We are past that, it needs to stay in the past. We can't rehash it every time we have a fight. Your past is not too much for me to deal with. I'm not angry with you. I was upset with you yesterday but we talked it through. You understand where I was coming from and I understand where you were coming from. This was the perfect example of needing to talk to each other before we go off half cocked. We are fine. I promise you I'm not going anywhere except to our bedroom. You need to loved tonight and we both need a stress release." Adam kissed her pouring all the love into the kiss.
"Let's go to bed." Kim held out her hand for Adam to take. He instead stood up and picked her up throwing her over his shoulder tapping her butt on the way up to their room. After they entered the bedroom Adam dropped her on the bed gently. "Rules for tonight. Relax, enjoy, it's all about you, eyes on me the entire time. I want you to see the love I have for you. No rushing, just slow and steady tonight." Adam started to strip Kim of her clothes slowly, eyes locked on hers. After she was naked Adam ran his fingers down her body before stripping himself. He moved to lay over her body as he gently laid kisses over the skin of her body. He made sure to kiss every inch of skin p, pouring all his love into her skin. Once he covered her abdomen in kisses he lined himself up and slid into her core with one thrust. His eyes on her the entire time.
Kim was moaning the entire time. Adam started to thrust slowly, each thrust delivered with the same speed and gentleness but with such love. It felt like a massage but inside her body. It was beautiful, passionate and so damn hot. It was hard to keep her eyes open with all the pleasure building inside her body. "I know darling. I know you can't keep them open much longer. Just let is go!" Adam whispered as he held his pace. Kim closed her eyes as her back arched up, her fingers gripping the sheets holding tight trying to hold out a bit longer. "Let go darling!" Adam whispered again. Kim groaned as she felt her muscles clamp down around him, her body started to spasm. A few more steady thrusts caused her body to explode around him moaning loudly as she came. Adam just his pace until her body relaxed before he allowed himself to finish inside her groaning loudly throwing his head back in pleasure. His released triggered Kim's second orgasm. Her body spasmed all around him again, Adam holding her close to feel her body losing control.
As they both came down from their highs they stayed close wrapped together. "Thank you for loving me, faults and all." Kim stated as they held each other close. "No need to thank me. Loving you is easy for me. You've been my dream since I was 13. Even when I didn't know it. So this is it. You, me, the kids and however many kids we add." Adam kissed her sweetly. "You are my dream too! Always in the back of my mind. You remember that morning we found each other again?" Kim asked as she looked deep into his eyes. "Of course! The day my heart became whole again. Why?" Adam was slightly confused. "That morning the nightmare I had that morning was about you. The day I pushed you away. The closing of the door before breaking down in tears saying I'm sorry over and over. I woke to Allie waking me from that nightmare. She asked if it was about you. I had told her about you but never your name. I needed her to understand my nightmares so it wouldn't scare her." Kim explained as she watched the realization come over his face.
"You dreamed about me often? So often that you had to explain it to Allie. God I'm glad you told me that. Means our hearts have always been meant to be together. Your subconscious was keeping our love alive all those years." Adam smiled looking into her eyes. "She would always ask if i was dreaming about the boy I loved before the bad man hurt me. I never lied to her. I may not tell her the full truth but I have never lied to her." Kim explained knowing this was important for him to know. "I'm proud of you for being honest with her, even if it wasn't the full story. She's too young for all that anyway. I'm so happy to hear all of this. Fills me with so much joy and happiness." Adam said before kissing her again. "All my dreams come true!" Kim smiled against his lips. "Me too!" Adam whispered.
The couple eventually headed to the bathroom to clean up before getting into bed to fall asleep together again. They were both nervous to see if the nightmare would return but they knew they could handle it together. Nothing could tear them apart again.
