Final Shadow Rider - Remix

A/N: Originally this was supposed to be one chapter. However, due to the next chapter being incredibly long, I split it up into two parts. Mainly cause I don't want to pull a bait and swtich with the duels. This was also an experemental idea I had for this part.

Wednesday

Time: 11pm

It was late at night, somewhere, in a dark cave, two figures were standing near each other. As they were listening the voice of an old man. They stood by awaiting orders.

"You know what you have to do Amnael." said the voice.

"Understood." he replied.

"Make use of our new creation..." Amnael looked at the cloaked figure. "Our creation is meant to torment the chaos user. Forcing him to give in. This creation wil be his downfall." the voice explained.

"Very well. It's time to leave." Amnael said as he handed a book to the small figure.

"Do not fail me."

Thursday

Time 7am

Early in the morning, the sun started to rise, and it was mostly peaceful around. Not so much for the Slifer Red Dorm, beside someone sleeping in again.

"Ah! We overslept!" Syrus cried out.

"Which means we missed... breakfast!" Chumley added.

Jaden, Syrus, and Chumely overslept and were rusing to their dining hall. Red Hat continued to sleep in for a little while longer. Until he eventully got up and casually followed the slifer trio.

"Phew, there's still some left." Jaden said in relief. "Alright!"

"Let's dig in" Syrus added as the three of them took their seats. Red Hat didn't bothered and just stood far enough. A bit away from them, Chazz was sitting at another table, alone, and enjoyed his breakfast.

Jaden tipped his cup over. "Not all that much to dig into."

"I wonder why?" Red Hat wondered, although he already knew the answer to his own question.

"What kind of selfish slime would do that?" Chumley asked.

They figured out the answer instantly. One by one, the three of them gathered around Chazz's table, where he, smugly enough, enjoyed his morning drink. "You snooze, you lose."

"Chazz, you rotten snob!" Syrus said angrily. "You can't just eat other people's food like that!"

"Uh... correction, I already sis. And it was good."

That comment just made the slifer trio angier. Jaden then complained loudly.

"Professor Banner...! Chazz is being Chazz again!"

But they noticed how extremely quiet it was ub here, and that silence reminded the gang of Banner's absence. They didn't even see anyone walk through the curtain doorway where Banner would usually walk through.

'Who made breakfast then, if Banner didn't make it?' Red Hat thought.

"Don't tell me Banner's still MIA." Jaden muttered. "This is getting serious."

"Let's get some sandwitches from the shop. I'll pay for them so you three can get a bite." Red Hat suggested.

"If I get a bad sandwich, can I ask for another?" Syrus asked.

Red Hat scowled at that response. "You're out of your mind. I eaten my fair share of bad sandwiches."

"Besides, it would ruin the fun of getting surprised on what sandwich you get." Jaden said with a smile. "Race you there everyone." Jaden then runs off.

"You're on Jaden!" Red Hat begins to run after him, slowly catching up to him.

"Wait up!" Syrus cried out as he and Chumley tried to catch up to running duo.

Time 9am

Later on, in Banner's alchemy class, all the students who were gathered were just sitting silently on their seats as Banner wasn't there. Red Hat took this opportunity to sleep in class after having a sandwich early this morning, along with the Slifer trio. Despite this, Red Hat and a few others were concered for the missing Professor. Jaden laid his head on his desk. He couldn't shake the bad feeling that was around him.

"It'll be okay, Jaden." Syrus said.

"Yeah totally. Chancellor Sheppard has a whole crew of people looking for Professor Banner. They'll find him." Chumley added.

"I hope." Jaden muttered.

'I hope Banner is okay.' Red Hat thought as he overheard the group talk about it.

"On the bright side, at least we get a break from class." Chumley said.

As if he was jinxing everyone, someone entered the classroom with books at hand. And it was none other than Dr. Crowler, much to their surrise. "Good morning, students! Guess what? Due to Professor Banner's absence, I will be your substitute teacher for the day. Aren't you lucky? Because I'm certainly not! It was supposed to be my day off!" He slammed his books onto the podium, looking absolutely frustrated. Red Hat got up after that.

Despite Crowler's bad mood, he proceeded to make the preparations for today's class. On the projectile monitor, some kind of symbol was shown. A large, black, nearly complete circle with a dot in middle. "Let's seehere... The Mark of Amnael... yes, it looks like... That's where Professor Banner left off. More duel alchemy nonsense, I'm sure... well, according to these terms, the basics of this are... hmmm... know that. That doesn't make any sense... I don't even know how to pronounce that word..."

Everyone could only watch as Crowler tried to understand any of this. Red Hat held back from laughing at Crowler. He knew he will snap and it will not look good.

Crowler slammed the books closed, even more frustrated then before. "What gibberish! This makes no sense! And he's teaching you it?! Well perhaps it's a good thing he's missing After all, he's polluting you young minds with nonsence. IT'S GRAND A ACADEMIC TRASH! PURE RUBBISH! USELESS PRATTLE!"

'Sadly I have to agree with you there. What does Alchemy have to do with dueling? Further more, what is duel alchemy anyway?' Red Hat thought, reluctantly agreeing with Crowler.

"Oh joy, he hates this stuff!" Jaden commented with a grin.

"No, it's not that Jay." Syrus replied. "I think more... he doesn't get any of it himself."

After a while, Crowler calmed down and moved on to the experimentation with alchemy. "Alright, it's time for some lab work... according to the syllabus. Now let's see here... I think this is right..." He muttered as he dipped acurved metal utensil into a canister full of some ind of purple liquid. The liquid started to boil as light radiated from the metal utensil. Moments later, the whole thing exploded, sending a small cloud of smoke into the air.

Crowler coughed as the smoke cleared. The metal utensil he used for the experiment, was now attached to his forhead. He pulled it off forcibly, which turned out to be painful to him. "HOT! HOT HOT HOT!" He growled, even more annoyed, as he now had a burn mark on his forhead. Most of the students, including Red Hat laughed at him.

"Boy, I sure wish Professor Banner would show up soon." Jaden muttered.

"Of course, Banner usually blew himself up too." Syrus replied.

"True."

"That's always a sight to see." Red Hat added.

"Heads up guys." Chumley whispered.

"Huh? What's up, Chum?" Jaden asked.

"Mr. Slifer Slacker!" Crowler called out angrily.

"Uh... yes sir?" Jaden responded quickly.

"Chancellor Sheppard would like a word."

"Me?"

"That's right. And the rest of the gang." Crowler addressed the key keepers, current and former alike. "Report to him at once!"

They were definitely surprised by this sudden announcement, but didn't question it.

"As for you, the one in the Red Hat." Crowler called out to Red Hat. "You are to return here to the classroom to serve your detention."

"I know... you don't have to remind me." Red Hat flatly said.

"Good, now if only you can behave and listen as well as you duel, you ungreatful delinquent." Crowler sneered.

Red Hat left with the others, not bothering responding to Crowler. 'Cry me a river.'

Time 12pm

Some time later, Jaden, Red Hat, Bastion, Chazz, Alexis and Zane were gathered in front of Sheppard in his office, with Crowlerr standing right next to him. Jaden was the one to respond to what the Chancellor told them. "What do you mean he's still lost? Professor Banner couldn't have just vanished into thin air... could he?"

"Who knows?" Sheppard replied, crossing his arms. "The bottom line is we've looked everwhere and can't find him."

"And there's no log of him leaving the island." Crowler added.

"So then, I think we all know what happened." Chazz spoke up. "Banner got sucked into the shadows."

Alexis game him a glare. "Don't say that!

"That doesn't make any sense. Banner has no spirit key. He has nothing to do with this." Red Hat questioned.

Sheppard nodded. "Not to mention that there has been no new activity."

"But still..." Jaden spoke up. "I have a feeling that the Shadow Riders have something to do with all of this. But what? That's what we gotta find out."

"I want to find out too." Red Hat added. As he was about to leave, Crowler stopped him.

"You still have detention to serve. You'll leave when you are finished serving detention." Crowler reminded him.

Red Hat sighed, knowing he'll have to put the search for Banner on hold, until he was done with Detention. "I'll be sure to do that." Red Hat left with Crowler and he followig him. Unbeknownst to them, someone was observing them in various spots. A small mysterious person wearig a black cloak. Said person left to the roof of the Academy and dropped down to the forest.

Time 4pm

At the Obelisk Blue dorm, Atticus was curently resting on his counch. As he was about to leave his room, someone broke in his room through his window.

"What?! Just what are you doing?" Atticus exclaimed, startled at the person sudden apperence.

The cloaked person readies a duel disk, without saying a word. Unbeknownst to him, a dark barrier was placed around his room. "No escape, duel." The cloaked person spoke in a deep stotic voice, as if it was masked.

"A... duel?" Atticus question. Something about this person wasn't right. Atticus concluded, the cloaked figure was a Shadow Rider. "Then bring it!" Atticus readies his duel disk.

DUEL

Atticus: 8000 LP

?: 8000 LP

"Draw!" The coaked figure draws.

Hand 6

"Spell, Deliquent Duo! I pay 1000 LP you randomly discard one of your cards, then you discard one card of your choice." The cloaked figure said.

?: 8000 - 7000 LP

"What?" Atticus randomly discards one of his cards, then he discards Red Eyes Black Dragon from his hand. 'Hand destruction? Just what is he trying to do?'

"Monster set. Turn end." The cloaked person ends his turn.

Hand 4

"It's my turn, I draw!" Atticus draws.

Hand 4

"I play Monster Reborn, to summon back Red-Eyes Black Dragon! (Atk: 2400 Def: 2000)" A black dragon appeared on the field. "Now I play the spell Inferno Fire Blast! Since I control Red-Eyes, your take damage equal to it's attack! Go Inferno Fire Blast!" The dragon fires a large fireball from it's mouth and launches past the cloaked figure's monster and hit's him directly. The cloaked figure was not bothered by the attack, much to Atticus' surprise.

?: 7000 - 4600 LP

"Since I can't attack, I end my turn." Atticus ends his turn.

Hand 2

"Draw." The cloaked figure draws.

Hand 5

"Equip spell, Snatch Steal. I equip it to your monster and take control of it." The cloaked figure explain.

"Wait what?!" Atticus gasped as he witnessed his monster moved to the cloaked figure's side.

"Tribute summon set monster, appear Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch. (Atk: 2400 Def: 1000)" The firestrom monarch appears on the field, creates flames with one of his hands. "Effect, he discards a random card from your hand. If monster, you take damage equal to monster level x100." Thestalos fires a fire ball at Atticus' hand and one of his cards was discarded, which was Dark Hole.

"Argh! Those flames... I felt those." Atticus grunted.

"Equip card Megamorph. LP is lower then yours, Thestalos attack is doubled. (Atk: 2400 - 4800 Def: 1000)" Thestalos grows larger as he powers up. "Battle, Thestalos attack." Thestalos fired a large fireball at Atticus. Atticus screamed in pain.

Atticus: 8000 - 3200 LP

"Red-Eyes attack your former master." The black dragon fired a powerful blast of fire at Atticus, causing the same result.

Atticus: 3200 - 800 LP

Atticus was on his hands and knees after taking all those flames. 'Is this what Alexis felt when I dueled her? Even Jaden and him...'

"Card set, turn end." The cloaked figure ends his turn. Thestalos power decreases as his LP was higher then Atticus' LP. (Atk: 4800 - 1200 Def: 1000)

Hand 2

Atticus got back on his feat as he tried to stand. "I won't give up. It's my turn. I draw!" Atticus draws.

Hand 2

"Reveal trap, Ring of Destruction. Target Red-Eyes Black Dragon." A large ring equiped with grenades attacted itself onto Red-Eyes neck, as it roared loudly.

"What?! This can't be!" Atticus exclaimed. 'I'm sorry guys. I failed.'

Soon the ring self-destructed causing a massive explosion. Atticus was thrown back harshly hitting the dark barrier, while the cloaked figure stood it's ground.

?: 4600 - 2200 LP

Atticus: 800 - 0 LP

"Duel over." The cloaked figure said, as he pulled out a book and opened it. Attiucs then disappeared from sight with his card scattered around the room. The dark barrier surrounding the room soon disappeared.

Earlier during that time, Alexis walked along the lakeside near Obelisk Blue. As she was walking , she then suddenly heard the sound of an explosion. She knew something was wrong as she stormed the the dorm.

"Atticus!"

Alexis burst tinto Atticus' room to find that it was trashed. The blacony windows were broken, the shards of glass covering the floor. The TV screen had been flipped over, and Atticus' cards were scattered all over the room. As if a duel just occured.

"No! He's gone!" Alexis said in disbelief before she noticed something on the floor next to the scattered cards. A glowing circle with a dot in the middle floated above the glass shards, then disappeared from sight. "Alright! Who's there!?"

Alexis leaned over the blacony. She saw a small cloaked figure that was running into the frest. Alexis jumped off the balcony and chased after the stranger.

"Hey!"

Alexis chased after the figure for what seemed like forever. "Where's my brother!? What did you do to him!?" Eventually, she stopped running when she reached a clearing, where she noticed the figure standing on the other side, under the shade of the trees. The figure was wearing a dark cloak. The cloak seemed to cover it's entire face.

"So let me guess..." Alexis had her duel disk ready. "You're a Shadow Rider."

The cloaked figure didn't say anything. He just activated his own duel disk.

Alexis activated her own duel disk. "Well, let's go! I may not have a spirit key, but I'm not letting this go! Because I know you have Atticus, and I'm not leaving here without him!"

DUEL

Alexis: 8000 LP

"Draw." The cloaked figure draws. He spoked in a masked stotic voice.

Hand 6

"Set 2 cards. Turn end." The cloaked figure ends his turn.

hand 4

Alexis was confused by this, but began her turn anyway. "Here I come, Rider! I draw!" Alexis draws.

Hand 6

"First, I'll play the spell Polymerization! I fuse Etoile Cyber and Blade Skater to fusion summon Cyber Blader! (Atk: 2100 Def: 800)" Cyber Blader emerges onto the field. "You picked the wrong person to mess with! Time for you to pay! Cyber Blader, attack!" As Cyer Blader charged forward, the cloaked figure's fist facedown was revealed.

"Continuous trap. Wall of Revealing Light. I pay 7000 LP, you can't attack with monsters equal to or less attack then amount of LP paid." A wall of bright light surrounded the cloaked figure, preventing Cyber Blader attack from going through.

"A trap? But why pay that much? Just what are you up to?" Alexis said as her blader was stopped by the wall of revealing light and set back to her field.

Time 6pm

In the meanwhile, Red Hat had just finished cleaning up the classroom once again, under Crowlers orders. As Red Hat finished cleaning up and mopping the floors of the classroom, Crowler got up from his seat to check up how well he cleaned the classroom. Crowler began to look around the classroom carefully, trying to find even the smallest of spots of anything looking out of place. He nodded his head in approval. "Good work, now if only you can apply the same effort in class."

Red Hat rolled his eyes, but didn't comment on it. 'Maye I'd come by more often, if you have actual interesting things to teach or if your lessons are actually entertaining.'

"You are dismissed, now scram." Crowler said as he left the classroom.

Red Hat carried the cleaning supplies back to the proper place. After putting away the cleaning supplies n a closest, he began to run through the hallways. 'I need to find Jaden and the others. I want to find Professor Banner.' He thought as he kept on running.

Aussa appeared in spirit form following Red Hat. 'I sense Darkness in the forest. Something isn't right.'

Red Hat turned to her and kept running. "Darkness? A Shadow Rider?"

Aussa shook her head. 'No it's something much worse. I don't know what caused this kind of darkness.'

Red Hat frowned, now he knew this was serious. "I need to move now, find Jaden and the others before it's too late." Red Hat exited the Academy building and ran into the forest to begin his search.

Time 6:30pm

Meanwhile, Alexis was still dueling the cloaked figure. She still had Cyber Blader in play, but she wasn't getting anywhere somehow.

'I can't stop him. He keeps negating my spells and traps. Just what is he waiting for? He has that facedown since the beginning of the duel.' Thought Alexis as she observed the field.

"Draw." The cloaked figure draws.

Hand 1

"Summon, Jowgen the Spiritualist. (Atk: 200 Def: 1300)" The spiritual spellcaster with red robes appears on the field. "Turn end." The cloaked figure ends his turn.

Hand 0

"Argh, very well. My turn I draw!" Alexis draws.

Hand 2

"Trap, Last Turn." The cloaked figure announced as the Trap was revealed.

"Wait Last Turn? But that card can only be activated if you have 1000 or less life points." Alexis questioned. "So that's why you played Wall of Revealing Light and lowered your LP that low." She then watched her Cyber Blader was destroyed and all other cards, except the cloaked figure's monster, were swallowed by a mysterious fiend by the effect of Last Turn, and they hit the graveyard. "The effect of that card allows me to special summon a monster from my deck. Lets go!" As Alexis tried to summon a monster, her duel disk began to read error. "What?!"

"Jowgen effect, we can not special summon monsters. Jowgen is last monster on the field. You automatically lose." The cloaked figure stated as arms of the fiend stretched out and held Alexis tightly as her LP drops to zero. Alexis screamed before collapsing as her cards were spread out all over the ground.

Alexis: 8000 - 0 LP

The cloaked figure approached the unconscious girl. He then held out the same book he used before. When he opened it, a green glowing circle with a dot in the middle was revealed. Alexis slowly vanished until there was nothing left of her. He then closed the book and walked away completing his orders. "Task complete..." As he walks off, he was purposely dropping cards, as if making a trail.

Time 7pm

In the meanwhile, Red Hat has been running through the forest, in search for Jaden and the others. After running around through the Blue Obelisk dorms. He found a clearing nearby. What he didn't expect was cards scattered all over the place. "Wha... What happened here?" Red Hat said in disbelief. He kneeled down and looked at them. "These are Alexis' cards. Just what happeed?"

Aussa appeared next to him. 'She was defeated. Although the darkness just disappeared.'

"Must be a Shadow Rider." Red Hat turned to Aussa. "Wait, what do you mean the darkness just disappeared?"

'The darkness just disappeared. I think, it was masked. This is no ordinary shadow duel.' Aussa said.

"This doesn't make any sense. Why go after her if she doesn't have a spirit key? Isn't that what the Shadow Rider wants?" He asked.

Aussa adjusted her glasses. 'If I had to guess, it was to prevent suspicion. That, or it's a trap to lure you guys in.'

"Whatever is the case, I have to find Jaden and Chazz." Red Hat began to walk deep into the forest, until he found an out of place card. "What's this" He picked up the card revealing to be Last Turn. "This card is busted. Is this how the Shadow Rider beat Alexis?" Red Hat kept walking only to find more cards. "A trail? It's almost like the Shadow Rider want's me to follow him."

'Careful, this could also mean he's trying to get you far away from the others. I don't trust this trail.' Aussa claimed.

"Whatever may be the case, this could be our best shot to find him." Red Hat said as he kept picking up the cards the trail left. "I hope Jaden and the others found Professor Banner. I mean, that was the main goal... Until this happened." He woundered as he kept following the trail, collecting the cards while he was at it.

Red Hat continued to follow the trail of cards that were left behind... Only to be lead to the waterfall deep inside the forest. With the last card he picked up, was 'Fake Trap', just to add insult to injury. "Was I fooled that easily?"

'Told you, this was just to throw you off.' Aussa stated as she adjusted her glasses. 'You're so naive. Falling for such obvious trick. Why would the Shadow Duelist purposely want you to find him?'

Red Hat scowled, but calmed down. "Alright I get it. I'm very impulsive and a fool." Red Hat looked around for a bit until nothing happened. "I should head back. The lake isn't too far from here. That's my next destination." As soon as he said that he heard an explosion sound not too far off. "Spoke to soon. That is my next destination. I need to move!" Red Hat began running in the direction he heard the explosion.

While Red Hat has been running around through the forest for a while. What he noticed as he was about to approach the lake, he found the familiar cat roaming around.

"Pharaoh the cat?" Red Hat asked as he chased the cat down. 'Banner's cat. Maybe I can find Banner or even Jaden.'

And then, he was suddenly bathed in light. "Hey, it's Red Hat!" He turned around to see Jaden, Syrus and Chumley.

"And he found Pharaoh!" Chumley pointed out as he picked up the cat.

"Uh... more like I chased him down, and found you guys." Red Hat corrected.

"Why are you out here?" Syrus wondered.

"I assume the same reason as you guys. To find Banner." Red Hat replied.

"Same with us. We thought we might find him around here." Jaden explained.

"So what's your story anyway?" asked Syrus.

Red Hat frowned. "As you all should know. When I finished my time in detention, I ran off into the forest and found Alexis cards scattered, including her duel disk. Alexis was challenged by a Shadow Rider."

"But why? Alexis had no spirit key? What would that Shadow Rider gain from dueling Alexis?" Jaden wondered.

"I have no idea." Red Hat answered. "Something tells me it's either to avoid suspision or to lure us into a trap."

"Just what's going on?" Jaden frowned before he noticed his medallion glowing.

Red Hat noticed and began to wonder. "Hold on, where's Chazz?"

"We split off, trying to find Pharaoh." Syrus explained.

"Not good. We have to find him."

All four of them began searching for Chazz. Despite been searching for about an hour, they were unable to locate him somehow.

"Chazz, we found Pharaoh! Where are you?" Jaden called out as he and the others continue to search." Chazz, hello!"

"He couldn't have gone far. Weird."Syrus said.

"I know. Somethig's wrong. We should have never split up."

Then they heard a scream, which sounded like Chazz. The scream was loud enough for the gang to hear. "You hear that?" Jaden asked.

"This can't be good." Red Hat muttered before he ran off, with the others right behind him. They ran for a minute before they reached the lake. It was then Red Hat and Jade noticed a glowig circle with a dot in the middle. "What in the?"

"Guys! look over there!" Chumley said, pointing his flashlight further. Everyone followed it and saw some cards floating o the water's surface. Jaden pashed when they saw the three Ojamas floating above some of them and sobbed.

"It's Chazz's cards!" Jaden said, recognizing some of them.

"The same thing happened to Alexis." Red Hat commented. "Chazz lost. Dang it."

At that moment, deep uderground, the Shadow Rider stood over the mystical locks that kept the Sacred Beast safe. One of the slots were glowing, meaing that another one has been unlocked. The Shadow Rider held up his hand and another lock began to shine brightly, leaving only two slots unlit. A ttal of 5 spirit keys had been won by the Shadow Riders... now only two remain. The chamber began to shake violently as five beams of light shot forth from a small orb of energy.

The whole thig was so violent that the entire island was shaking, much to the boy's shock. They then watched as five, huge pillars of light shot up around the island and rose high into the air.

"What's going on?" Red Hat asked.

"Don't know, but definitely not a good thing!" Jaden replied.

"This has only begun." replied Red Hat.

A/N: This and the next chapter have been uploaded on the same day. Reason this took so long, was cause this was supposed to be one chapter, but was split into two parts. Rather then making one large chapter, this was cut down. I didn't want to bloat it with multiple duels. This and the next chapter were inspired by someone else. I have my reasons why it's done in this format. Question, does anyone like this paticular idea. Otherwise I'll scrap and redo it. Atticus duel was added in, because just Atticus getting captured for no reason was kind of pointless. It's also implied Atticus dueled, despite Atticus had no reason to be captured in the anime other then to force Alexis to lose. I cut out the Chazz playing detective and part duel, cause theres no point in showing it. We know Chazz is an incompetent detective. Tag Force 3 base Chazz route even makes fun of that fact, so I'm not gonna give it any honors. I have my reasons why I cut the duel. Also this was to show off some of the "punishment" and Detention Red Hat was serving during earlier points. Expect both chapters to be uploaded on the same day.
