The Graduation Duel - Ultra Remix
It was late in the evening at Duel Academy. During this time, Zane Truesdale was currently in his room, laying down on his bed thinking about today's earlier events. He remain silent, pondering on his decision for the graduation match he'll be having soon.
Flashback
All of the students looked as the names of the students that got the top 10 results on the tests appeared on a screan. To no one's surprise, Zane's name came up as number one. Everyone gasped in amazement and admiration. Zane himself had his eyes closed and arms crossed, as he knew the out come of the results.
Crowler turned towards Zane with a proud smile on his face. "As expected from Zane Truesdale. Perfect at every subject. As a result, for this year's Graduation Duel, you will pave the way of exemplary conduct for the whole student body."
Zane who looked at him with a small smirk on his face with his arms crossed and lowered them. "Yes, thank you."
Crowler looked at him with a bigger smile. "And, you have the privilege of nominating one of the enrolled students to oppose you. So who will it be Zane?"
Everyone began discussion, wondering who Zane would pick as he just stood there.
"Who is it?"
"Who is he nominating?"
Flashback End
Zane looked up at his ceiling while he narrowed his eyes a little. He didn't need to choose, the choice was obvious. 'There's only two opponents I want to face with my all.' He thought.
He rose from his bed and walked over to his balcony door and opened it, letting the wind his face. 'If it wasn't for that incident. Atticus would be graduating with me. Looks like I'll be doing him a favor. Who said the graduation match can't be a tag duel.' He thought.
Meanwhile at the Slifer Red Dorm, Syrus and Jaden were sitting on Jaden's bed talking. Still feeling a little werid that they now had this room all for themselves, now that Chumley was gone. Red Hat was sitting at Jaden's desk, paying them a visit as he was somewhat bored.
Then suddenly they heard someone knock on their door. Syrus got up and went over to it and opened it. Jaden jumped to his feet when Syrus let out a small scream. Jaden looked at the doorway and got shocked when he saw Zane there. Red Hat got up from his seat the moment he saw Zane enter the room.
"Big Brother?" Syrus said.
"What brings you here Zane?" Red Hat asked.
Jaden then watched as Zane entered their room and looked around. Zane had a smirk on his face. "You know, in my three years here at the academy. I have never had a single reason to set foot in his dorm, it's nice to finally found a reason to come out here. Looks like it's pretty differet from ours."
"That's an understatment..." Red Hat muttered. 'Still I like this place.'
"So what do you think about our room?" asked Jaden.
Zane crossed his arms. "It's tastefrent."
Syrus and Jaden both fell over anime style. "Is that even a real word?"
Red Hat sweat dropped at this. "Apparently not. Not like it matters." Red Hat replied.
Zane looked at Jaden and Red Hat with a smirk. "Jaden, Red Hat." Jaden got up as his name was called. Red Hat turned his attention to Zane. "I'm expecting some of your typical dueling for my Graduation Duel from the both of you. It will be a Tag Duel. I already have someone in mind as my partner."
Jaden looked a bit stunned, but Red Hat merely smiled. Syrus jumped back up on his feet and looked at Zane shocked. "B-big Brother, you don't mean that.."
Zane nodded and placed a hand on Jaden's shoulder and turned to Red Hat. "I'll see you two on the field. I suggest you both get ready." Zane walked over to the door and opened it, but he stopped and looked back at them, with a joking smile on his face. "The fit on this door is a bit off. I'll talk to Chancellor Sheppard about it." He then walked out the dorm.
Jaden got a smirk on his face. "Man, no matter what people say, your big bro's a good guy!"
"Zane is amazing isn't he? Unlike any other person in this Academy." replied Red Hat.
Syrus looked at them with narrowed eyes. "C'on you two! This is no time to be saying carefree stuff like that! You both were nominated by my big brother as the guys that he'll face in his Graduation Exhibition Duel!"
"Maybe you should shut up. The fact I was nomiated with Jaden is a huge honor from Zane." Red Hat replied with annoyance.
Jaden looked at Syrus awkwardly. "Come on Sy, don't you think that you're overreacting a little bit?"
"Sure, there's probably no one that my Big Brother took on who might come close to you two." Syrus said.
"Why do you think that?" Jaden asked.
"I'm not sure why, but my big brother would know the answer to that. That's why he nominated you two. I just know it." Syrus said.
Red Hat was now annoyed by Syrus' explaination. "Okay I'm not ptting up with this. I'm leaving this room. Syrus..." Red Hat then kicked Syrus and pushed him on Jaden's bunk. "Shut up... all you're doing is annoying me. You are just a coward." As Red Hat was about to leave the room. "Jaden... if you want... come to my room tonight... Without Syrus."
Jaden sweat dropped at his actions. "Um... I'll come by your room. I hope it's about dueling."
Red Hat smiled. "Not to worry. It will be just that." Red Hat replied as he left Jaden's room.
In the meanwhile, rumors about Zane's choice of opponent had spread. At the moment, deep in the forest so was Bastion, Alexis, and Chazz were talking about it. "Did you hear that Zane's opponents will be Jaden and Red Hat?" Alexis asked.
"Yes." Bastion replied. "It's unprecedented that an opponent was chosen from Slifer Red, but... even more so, Zane decided to make a tag duel with Jaden and Red Hat. This would certainly be a match to watch."
Chazz growled a little and stomped with his foot. "Damn it! Why does it have to be Jaden and Red Hat! It should be the Chazz dueling, now that would be a match!?"
"Still..." Alexis spoke up. "Zane hasn't chosen a partner yet. He said his partner is going to be a friend of his, but he didn't want to tell me who it was."
"I think I may have an idea..." Bastion replied. "It's a stretch, but it could be the case."
Chazz sighed. "Still think it should be me dueling!" Chazz mumbled for himself as he crossed his arms, while the others talked about how the duel might turn out.
In the meanwhile, Red Hat was walking down the empty hallways of Duel Academy, until he reached the card shop. As he entered the shop, he noticed the entire shop was about to close up. He decided it's best to begin shopping now before they close the shop compeltely. Asuming they didn't run out of products to shop.
'I hope they still have stuff to buy.' Red Hat thought as he approached the counter girl Sadie. "Excuse me, are you still open?"
Sadie turned around to look at Red Hat. "We'll be closing in a few minutes. If you want to buy something, do make it quick okay."
"Do you have any left over booster sets or card packs?" Red Hat asked.
"Oh? We have plenty of them left. Most of them are expensive though? You sure you want to buy them?" Sadie replied.
"How much do they cost?" Red Hat asked again.
"If you wish to buy these packs and booster packs. That will cost you over 50000 duel points. Do you have that much?" Sadie replied.
Red Hat smiled and took out his PDA. "I sure do. Here take a look." Red Hat handed her his PDA as Sadie took it.
Sadie's eyes widened as she took a look. 'Over 200000 duel poits? Just how much do you duel?' Sadie thought as she began taking out various booster packs and sets. 'The fact he spends all his duel points on these packs. He's like our number 1 customer, even though he rarely buys these days except for buying so many sandwiches.' She thought as she took out moster of the booster packs and placed them on her counter. "Here you go then. That will be 80000 duel points please."
"I'll take all of those booster packs thank you." Red Hat said.
"Thanks for your perchase!" Sadie thanked as she handed Red Hat all the packs after charging him and handing him back his PDA.
As Red Hat put away all the packs in a couple of bags he obtain and put away his PDA. He then turned to look back at Sadie. "Say, I wanted to ask you something."
"What do you intend to ask of me?" Sadie replied with a confused look.
"Does duel points for the us students reset when we begin a new year?" Red Hat asked.
Sadie shook her head and smiled. "Duel Points start at zero for new students and transfer students. Unless you drop out and come back. You have nothing to worry about. Why? You thought it drop to zero next year?" Sadie explained.
Red Hat looked away, hiding his embarrassed face. Despite mostly being covered by his hat. "No... I was just hearing rumors is all."
"You shouldn be careful about rumors. You should know better then to listen to silly rumors." Sadie said, holding back a giggle.
"I see..." Red Hat muttered. "I'll buy some sandwiches next."
Red Hat soon heads to the sandwich cart and grabs a very sandwiches. He payed for the sandwiches to Sadie before he left the the card shop. After walking for a while, Red Hat returned to his room to eat his sandwiches and open his booster packs and build a new deck for the upcoming Graduation Tag Duel.
Meanwhile inside the Obelisk Blue boys dorm. Zane was standing at the side of his balcony. Staring off into the sky as if he was waiting for someone. Sure enough someone did enter his room. Zane turned around and noticed Atticus entered his room.
"You called me Zane? I came here as soon as you messeged me." Atticus said as he sat down on Zane's bed.
Zane looked at Attcius. "I'll called you here to ask you something, Atticus."
"What did you want to ask of me, Zane?" Atticus asked.
Zane closed his eyes momentarily before glancing at Atticus again. "Atticus... I want you to be my partner for the Graduation Match tomorrow."
Atticus was shocked at what Zane asked of him. "Zane... You really mean it?! Why me?"
Zane lightly smiled. "Atticus, if you didn't disappear. You'd be graduating with me. To make up for it, you'll be my partner for my graduation match."
Atticus smiled and got up from Zane's bed. "It would be an honor Zane!" Atticus then begins imagning the idea. "Just think about it. You and I dominating our opponents. Putting on a grand show for the audience! It's my time to shine and put on a performance! The rise of a Super Star!"
Zane sweat dropped at Atticus' imaginiation. "Just don't do anything too out of line at the arena okay, Atticus."
"Don't worry about it Zane. I don't plan on letting you down. This is going to be a match to remember. You and I, dueling against Jaden and the Red Hat. An exciting match it will be." Atticus said as he struct a pose.
"Alright I'll see you tomorrow Atticus." Zane said as he left his room with Atticus following behind him.
Later that night, Jaden stood and looked out over the ocean from the slifer cliff. Red Hat approached him from behind as he placed a hand on his shoulder.
"We have a big duel tomorrow Jaden. Something on your mind?" Red Hat asked.
Jaden turned around and glanced at Red Hat. "I can't rest..." Jaden then stood up. "Zane is good... maybe better then anyone we know, too... Will this be the end of dueling with Zane? How can I even win against a guy like him?"
Red Hat gave him a warm smile. "Jaden, there is no such thing as a perfect duelist. People like Zane or I may seem perfect with dueling, but that's not the case. I may have beaten Zane, but he has also defeated me a few times. I'm not perfect and neither is Zane. Still that doesn't mean we can be reckless."
"With you by my side, I'm sure we can win." Jaden replied.
Red Hat nodded. "I even build a new deck just for our tag duel tomorrow. This should be fun after all."
"Yeah, can't wait to get our game." Jaden replied with a smile.
Then suddnely they heard some foot steps behind them. They turned around and got shocked when they saw Zane approach them. Both of them said nothing for a while until Jaden broke the silence.
"Zane? What brings you here?" Jaden asked.
Zane narrowed his eyes. "So, it's almost time now you two."
"Have you decided on you're partner?" Red Hat asked.
"You'll find out tomorrow." Zane simply said. "Let's go on as usual."
"We'll see..." Red Hat mutered.
All three of them stod there for a while. Neither of them said anything as the night continued. After a while Zane began to walk away from their location. Red Hat and Jaden glanced at each other before nodding and walked back to their dorm. Both of them trying to get some sleep before the big match that would be the next day.
The next day begins, as the Obelisk Arena was completely filled of all the students and teachers. Eager to watch the duel between the tag duel pair Jaden and Red Hat and the tag duel pair Zane and Atticus. Most of the them, namely the Obelisk Blues figured that Jaden must almost be as good as Zane by now if Zane picked him as an opponent. Many Obelisk Blues expected Red Hat to take part in the duel. Many, mostly the guys were hoping to for Red Hat to at least struggle against Zane and Atticus. Chancelor Sheppard and Crowler sat down next to each other. Crowler still not completely happy over that Jaden and Red Hat were Zane and Atticus' opponents in the Graduation Match.
"It's finally time!" said Syrus.
"Yeah, and those two will have quite the duel." Alexis said.
"My data says that the odds favor Zane and Atticus 8 to 2." said Bastion as he was looking through his PDA.
"That's pretty detailed." replied Alexis.
Chazz meanwhile had his eyes closed and his arms crossed. 'Why's Jaden at it with Zane while The Chazz get's left out? Even Red Hat and Atticus gets to be there. how annoying.' He thought.
Then all of them looked towards the entrance as the four duelists walked in, with each pair side by side. Zane and Atticus walked to one end of the stage, as soon as they got up. While Jaden and Red Hat walked on the opposite end of the stage. All four duelist walked towards each other.
"Zane, I'm beating you today!" said Jaden as he held out his hand.
Zane nodded with a small smile and shook his hand. "Well see..."
"Isn't this amazing Red Hat? You get to duel not only Zane, but also the amazing Atticus Rhodes!" Atticus said out loud. This caused many of the girls to cheer him on.
Red Hat sweat dropped at the scene. "Let's make this a great duel." Red Hat held out his hand as Atticus shook his hand. Soon all four of them readied their duel disks and drew out their starting hands.
Sheppard looked at Crowler who stood up with a microphone in his hand. "We will now commence the Graduation Duel! I assume both sides are prepared?"
"Certainly." Zane simply said.
"I'm okay here." Jaden said.
"I'm raring to go!" Red Hat spoke up.
"Time to witness a new super star!" Atticus exclaimed as he strucked a pose, earning him cheers from the females and groan from Zane.
DUEL
Zane & Atticus: 8000 LP
Jaden & Red Hat: 8000 LP
"And the first or second move?" Jaden asked.
"You can take either." Zane replied.
"In that case, I'll take second move!" Jaden answered.
"That's alright with me." Zane simply said. 'Why won't he take the first move?' He thought.
Jaden looked at his cards. 'Zane is the type of duelist who uses the second turn to his advantage. After all, as long as a monster's on the opponent's field, Cyber Dragon can be summoned without a tribute and it's a special summon.'
Zane looked at Jaden, figuring out what he was doing. 'Looks like he did some research on me. That's something I'd expect from Red Hat. Not you Jaden.'
"Now let's start things up!" Jaden spoke up.
"Very well, it's my turn. I draw!" Zane draws.
Hand 6
"First I play the spell card Polymarization! With this fuse together the three Cyber Dragons that are in my hand, to fusion summon!" Zane explained as she showed the spell.
"Hold on? Fusion summoning already?" Jaden questioned.
Zane grabed the three cards in his hand. "That's right Jaden, you should know that better then anyone. I send my three Cyer Dragons to fusion summon, Cyber End Dragon! (Atk: 4000 Def: 2800)" The three mechanical dragons got sucked into the vortex, and out came out the three headed Cyber End Dragon as it roared.
Red Hat narrowed his eyes. 'Normally going Neg 3 is to summon your monster is a bad idea. One piece of spot removal and it's gone.' He thought as he looked at his hand. 'No such luck though... unless I draw it spot removal, this will be a challenge. Just my luck.'
Atticus smiled at the pair. "Prepare yourselves you two. This can get really messy fast!"
Jaden looked at Zane. "Bring it on! This won't make me back down!"
"Very well. I'll play the spell card Golden Sarcophagus! With this card I banish a card from my deck, then in two turns I get to add that card to my hand." A Golden Sarcophagus appeared on the field as it's lid opened up and a card entered it. As the lid closed up, the sarcophagus disappeared. "The difference between this card and Different Dimension Capsule. It doesn't stay on the field. Meaning, I'll always get the card back and you can't destroy the Golden Sarcophagus as the card goes to the graveyard." Zane explained.
'Great... so now he completely replaced his old searcher. So now we have to watch for what card he added.' Red Hat thought.
"Last up I play the spell Pot of Greed! I draw 2 cards." Zane draws his cards. "I set a monster and set one card facedown and end my turn." Zane ends his turn.
Hand 0
Jaden stared at at the mechanical dragon. 'Cyber End Dragon, right off the bat, on his very first turn?' Jaden thought. "Come at me like that, huh, Zane? Still, it's not like I wasn't seeing that coming!"
'Cyber End does piercing damage so we can't defend. Jaden hope you have an out.' Red Hat thought.
Jaden clenched his fist. "Bring it on! This won't make me back down! It's my turn, I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 6
"I play Polymerization! With this I fuse Elemental HERO Wildheart and Necroshade to fusion summon Elemental HERO Necroid Shamen! (Atk: 1900 Def: 1800)" Necroid Shamen appear on the field. "Now for his effect, I can destroy a monster on your field then I can replace that with a monster in your graveyard!" Jaden announced as the Shamen prepared his staff to destroy Cyber End.
"Not quite! I play the quick play spell, De-Fusion! By returning Cyber End Dragon to the extra deck, I can bring back it's fusion materials from the graveyard. Since, your target is no longer on the field, your effect is canceled out!" Cyber End Dragon soon separated into the three Cyber Dragons it was used to form it. (Atk: 2100 Def: 1600 X3)
"I can't attack any of them, but since Necroid Shamen was just a special summon. I can still normal summon. Nice Necroshade is in my graveyard I can summon an Elemental HERO without tributing. I summon, Elemental HERO Bladedge! (Atk: 2600 Def: 1800)" The golden armored hero appears on the field.
"With Bladedge out on the field. Jaden now has the upper hand." Bastion commented.
"I don't get it though. Jaden isn't dueling like he usually does." Syrus added.
"Today, I'm not like I was before! I'm aiming to surpass you Zane!" Jaden spoke up. "Battle, Blagedge attack one of his Cyber Dragons! Slice and Dice attack!" Bladedge charges forward and pierces through the Cyber Dragon and destroying it.
Zane & Atticus: 8000 - 7500 LP
"Now, Necroid Shamen attack Zane's facedown monster!" Necroid Shamen twirls his staff before slamming it at the facedown monster, revealing to be Magician of Faith. (Atk: 300 Def: 400) "Eh? A Spellcaster?"
"Magician of Faith effect, since she was flipped, I get to add a spell card from my grave back to my hand. I'll add back Pot of Greed!" Zane explained as he added back his card.
"I'll set one card facedown and end my turn." Jaden ends his turn.
Hand 1
"It's time for my openning act. My turn, I draw!" Atticus draws.
Hand 6
"Time to for a new star to arrive on stage! I summon a new normal monster known as Gene-Warp Warwolf! (Atk: 2000 Def: 100)" A white werewolf like creature appeared on the field. It was covered in black markings, had fur on all around it's head, it appeared to have four arms with red claws. The beast warrior appeared to be radiating a blue aura around itself.
"Eh? A level 4 normal monster with 2000 attack points?" Syrus questioned.
"So that's the new threshold for level 4 normal monsters" Bastion said.
"By wait, aren't there stronger level 4 monsters?" Syrus asked.
"Indeed, but there's a catch. Many of those level 4 monsters with 2000 attack or higher have effect which are their weakness. For example, The Goblin Attack force like cards go into defense mode after attack and you have wait a full turn before you attack with them again. Boar Soldier destroys itself if you normal summon it. Chainsaw Insect which is the strongest level 4 monster has the draw back of letting your opponent draw a card after attack." Bastion explained. "Before the strongest attack for a level 4 normal monster was 1900 attack points such as Luster Dragon, Gemini Elf, Vorse Vaider, and a few others. Gene-Warped Warwolf surpasses all of them now being 2000 attack points and now those old monsters with draw backs that have less or equal 2000 attack points are now useless."
"Oh really now? Maybe someday that threshold will break again." Syrus said with a smile.
"Somehow, I doubt that will ever happen." Chazz muttered.
"Now that I have my new monster in play. I'll play the quickplay spell Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy that facedown Jaden!" Powerful Typhoon appeared and destroyed Jaden's facedown card.
'Dang, so much for Mirror Force.' JAden thought.
"Next I play the equip spell Axe of Dispair! and Equpid it to Gene-Warped Warwolf! (Atk: 2000 - 3000 Def: 100)" A demon axe appeared and the field as the werewolf took hold of the weapon. "Battle, Gene-Warped Warwolf attack Elemental HERO Bladedge!" The beast warrior chaged and swung his axe and slashed Bladedge, destroying it.
Jaden & Red Hat: 8000 - 7600 LP
"I always wanted to command a Cyber Dragon. Now it's the time! Cyber Dragon attack that Necroid Shamen with Strident Blast!" Cyber Dragon let out a blast of energy destroying Necroid Shamen.
Jaden & Red Hat: 7600 - 7400 LP
"Now the second Cyber Dragon will attack you life points directly! Attack with Strident Blast!" the second Cyber Dragon last out a blast of energy as Jaden took the damage.
Jaden & Red Hat: 7400 - 5300 LP
"Lastly I'll set one card facedown and end my turn." Atticus ends his turn.
Hand 2
"It's go time. My turn, I draw!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 6
'Time for my surprise.' Red Hat thought as he continued. "I play the spell card Polymerization!" This caused everyone to be shocked.
"Wait.. Fusion?" Atticus question. "You got something different?"
"I fuse King of the Swamp with Elemental HERO Sparkman to fusion summon, Elemental HERO Shining Flare Wingman! (Atk: 2500 Def: 2100)" The shining armored hero appeared on the field.
"Elemental HERO?" questioned Bastion.
"But that's Jaden's strategy!" Syrus pointed out.
"Is that slacker copying his deck?" Chazz comments.
"Shining Flare Wingmans effect, he gains 300 attack points for every Elelemtal HERO in the graveyard. Thats 5 monsters, that's an extra 1500 attack points! (Atk: 2500 - 4000 Def: 2100) Battle, Shining Flare Wingman attack Gene-Warped Warwolf!" The hero leaped up and fired a green orb of energy and destroyed the werewolf.
Zane & Atticus: 7500 - 6500 LP
"Shining Flare Wingman effect, when it destroys a monster in battle, you take damage equal to the destroyed monster in the graveyard." Atticus gasped as the hero stood in front of him and shone with a light so intense, Atticus covered his eyes and cried out.
Zane & Atticus: 6500 - 4500 LP
"Hey, violence isn't the answer!" Atticus cried out.
'Where did that come from?' Red Hat sweat dropped as he continued. "I'll set a monster and set two cards facedown and end my turn." Red Hat ends his turn.
Hand 0
"Can you keep up. My turn, I draw!" Zane draws.
Hand 2
"Two turns have passed since I activated Golden Sarcophagus. I get to add the card back to my hand." The golde sarcophagus reappears on the field. As the lid opened up, the card came out and returned to Zane's hand.
'This could be power bond.' Jaden thought.
"Next I summon The Light Hex - Sealed fusion! (Atk: 1000 Def: 1600)" A small rock like creature filled with a bunch of material appeared on the field. "Now I'll use his effect. I'll tribute itself and my two Cyber Dragons to secial summon, the Cyber End Dragon! (Atk: 4000 Def: 2800)" The three headed mechanical dragon reappears on the field.
"Wait? So the card you got wasn't Power Bond? So what was it?" Jaden question.
"That's for you to figure out. You over thought this Jaden." Zane flattly replaied. "I play the spell card Pot of Greed to draw 2 cards." Zane draws his cards. "I set three cards facedown. Battle, Cyber End Dragon attack his facedown monster! Super Strident Blaze!" Cyber End Dragon shot a beam of energy from it's three heads that comboed into one.
"Go trap card! Widespread Ruin! This card destroys your strongest monster on the field. so your Cyber End Dragon goes boom!" A mine appears in the middle of the field.
"Sorry man, go counter trap! Seven Tools of the Bandit! By paying 1000 LP your trap card is negated and destroyed!" Atticus announced as various tools appeared and disabled the mine. Red Hat's trap was negated and destroyed.
Zane & Atticus: 4500 - 3500 LP
"The attack still goes through uninterrupted!" Cyber End Dragon's attack continued and destroyed the monster which was revealed to be Morphing Jar. (Atk: 700 Def: 600)
Jaden & Red Hat: 5300 - 1900 LP
"Critical damage, but Morphing Jar's effect activates! We discard all cards in our hands then we draw 5 cards." Red Hat and Zane refill their hands.
"I'll play one of my facedown cards I set earlier. The spell card known as Smashing Ground! This card destroys a monster with the highest defense points. Since you only have one monster it's destrpyed!" A large fist came down from above and smashed Shining Flare Wimgman, destroying him.
"So much for him." Red Hat muttered.
"I'll end my turn here." Zane ended his turn.
Hand 5
'Cyer End Dragon again. Man talk about rotten luck.' Jaden thought.
"You two are proving to be a disappointment." Zane said.
"Eh what do you mean by that?" Jaden questioned.
"You haven't figured it out? Your foolishness?" Zane replied.
"Don't screw with me! Your mind games won't work! I'm thinking with my head!" Jaden shot back.
"There's nothing more shameful then dueling with superfical wisdom." Zane simply responded.
"Just what are you on about?" Red Hat asked. 'Why start saying this now?' He thought.
"Wow, you two really aren't following are you." Atticus said. "If you can't figure it out, then I'll just have to show you the ropes soon." Atticus struck a pose. "This looks like a job for the great Atticus Rhodes!" Most of the audience began cheering for Atticus. The gang and Zane just sweet dropped at the scene.
'I'll let you handle this Atticus.' Zane thought as he closed his eyes. "Jaden it's your turn. What are you waiting for?"
"Uh.. right. My turn, I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 2
"I play the equip spell Snatch Steal! With this I'll equip it to your Cyber End Dragon and take control of it!" As the equip attemts to take control of Cyber End Dragon.
"I won't allow it. Go quick play spell Mystik Wok! I tribute my Cyber End Dragon and gain LP equal to it's attack or defense points. I choose it's attack points. Your target is gone so your card fissles out!" Zane explained as Cyber End left the field before it was teken control.
Zane & Atticus: 3500 - 7500 LP
"Zane avoided having Cyber End Dragon being taken from him, and he regained life points. Smart move." Alexis pointed.
"Indeed, and Zane still has a facedown to protect himself is Jaden does anything. With only one card left in his hand, he has to make it count." Bastion noted.
"Agh, well then I'll use Red Hat's facedown card. Go continuous trap, Call of the Haunted! With this I'll brang back Eelemental HERO Bladedge! (Atk: 2600 Def: 1800)" The golden armor hero returns to the field. "Battle, Bladegde attack Zane directly! Slice and Dice attack!" Bladedge charges forward and attacks Zane.
"Don't think I didn't plan for thsi. Go continuous trap, Metal Reflect Slime! With this I special summon this onto the field in defense mode! (Atk: 0 Def: 3000)" A liquid-metalic slime appears on the field, stopping Bladedge in it's tracks. "With 3000 defense points that's more then enough to stop your attack." Zane simply said.
"Guess, I'll end my turn here." Jaden ends his turn.

"Alright it's my turn. I draw!" Atticus draws.
Hand 4
"I'll summon Enraging Battle Ox in attack mode! (Atk: 1700 Def: 1000)" An orange enraged Ox appeared on the field. It wore red armor, a helemt, and weilded an axe. "Now I'll play the spell card Wild Nature Release! With this card my OX gains attak points equal to it's defense points. Giving it just enough attack points to destroy your Bladedge! (Atk: 1700 - 2700 Def: 1000)" The battle Ox glowed with a red aura as it's power was increased.
'Guess this is what they mean by going wild.' Red Hat thought.
"Battle, go Enraging Battle Ox, show that Bladedge what your made of! Attack!" Atticus commanded. The Battle OX charged forward and leaped forward and swund its Ax at Bladgedge, slicing him in two and destroying it.
Jaden & Red Hat: 1900 - 1800 LP
"I'll end my turn there. Now due to Wild Nature Release negative effect, Enraging Battle Ox gets destroyed, but that's okay." Atticus ends his turn as the Enraging Battle Ox was destroyed.

"I won't let you push us around. My turn, I draw!" Red Hat draws.

"I set two cards facedown and end my turn." Red Hat ends his turn.

"My turn, I draw!" Zane draws.
Hand 6
"Such a shame, Red Hat, Jaden, that I'm leaving the academy for good with a duel like this..." Zane said with a blank stare.
"Huh? Just what do you mean?" Red Hat questioned.
"You two still haven't figured it out, haven't you? Well then, if you can't figure it out. Then maybe my cards will tell you why! I play the spell card Metamorphosis! With this I tribute my level 10 Metal Reflect Slime and special summon Cyber End Dragon! (Atk: 4000 Def: 2800)" The metalic slime disappears and emerged the Cyber End Dragon.
"Go trap card! Bottomless Trap Hole! With this your Cyber end Dragon is banished!" Red Hat annouced as a hole appeared beneath Cyber End Dragon. Soon it fell down to the endless void of the hole before it closed up.
"Don't think that will be enough. I play the spell card Pot of Averice! With this card, I return the three Cyber Dragons, Cyber End Dragon and the Light Hex - Sealed Fusion back to my deck and extra deck, shuffle, then I draw 2 cards." Zane shuffles his cards back and draws his two cards. "I summon Cyber Phoenix in attack mode! (Atk: 1200 Def: 1600)" The cybernetic phoenix appeared on the field.
'I'm not wasting my trap on it. We'l have to take the hit.' Red Hat though as he braced himself from Cyber Phoenix attack.
Jaden & Red Hat: 1800 - 600 LP
"I'll play the continuous spell Future Fusion! With this, I send fusion material monsters from my deck to the graveyard, then in two turn I bring out my fusion monster! I'll end my turn here." Zane ends his turn as he sends his fusion material to his grave.
Hand 4
"You two stil don't understand do you?" Zane flattly said.
"Just what are you on about?" Jaden questioned.
"Think it's time I step in and help." Atticus replied. "You see, you two aren't acting like yourselves. You aren't dueling with your hearts and your own style."
"Eh? Just what are you talking about now, Atticus?" Red Hat asked.
"Listen here. You two aren't yourselves in this duel. Jaden, your thinking with your head and over thinking possible plays. That's not your style man. Red Hat, your acting very reckless and playing a deck that doesn't fit your style of dueling at all. It's like you're trying to be Jaden. You two are contradicting each other, instead of complimenting each other." Atticus explained. "That's what Zane was trying to tell you. You two are acting so differently, it's like we aren't actually dueling you, but someone else entirely."
Soon all four of them heard a gumbling sound, which turned out to be Jaden's stomach. "Oh man.." Jaden sweat drops as he sits down with his legs crossed. "I've used my head so much, I'm hungry now..."
Red Hat chuckled when he heard that. "Jaden, don't you ever stop eating?"
The rest of crowd including Zane and Atticus were baffled by the exchange.
"What the..."
"What's he up to?"
"Dorthy! Dorthy, are you around?" Jaden called out.
Dorhty looked at Jaden, after her name was called out.
"Food! I could use some food, thank you!" Jaden called out again.
Dorthy turned to Sadie and nodded their heads. "Right! Leave it to me!" Both of them got up from their seats and left the stands.
Alexis gasped at the scene. "Come on, Jaden, What's he trying to do here?"
"Has he lost it? Red Hat looks like he's lost it too." Bastion noted.
"No, Jaden is just werid from the get-go." Chazz replied. "Red Hat... he's completely wack anyway."
"Jaden's eyes are back to normal!" Syrus pointed out.
Jaden lightly chuckled as he rubbed the back on his head. "Atticus, Zane, it's like you said! I... wasn't being myself out there! But that's no good now, so I'm cutting it out! I'll make up my mind as usual! You two don't mind if I eat do you?"
Zane closed his eyes and slightly smiled. "Do as you like."
"Thank you, Zane." Jaden thanked.
"Got anything to say Red Hat? I like to hear what you have to say." Atticus aked.
Red Hat remained quite for a bit before responding. "I build this deck so me and Jaden can fully synergize. Although, fusion is not my style of dueling. Actually I'm not a huge fan of a beat down strategy, especially if it means attcking recklessly. I'm more of the type for control." Red Hat explained as he slightly lowered his hat.
After a while has passed, Dorthy and Sadie came back with a table and plates. Inside a container was contained hot white rice, which oth Dorthy and Sadie began to make Rice Balls out of said rice. Dothry then placed the first batch of rice balls on one of the plates.
"Thanks for waiting!" said Dorthy as she handed the plate of rice balls over to Jaden.
Jaden took the plate with a smile. "Thank you, Dorthy!" Jaden then bagan eating his rice balls.
"Please, help youtself! I'll make as much as you like!" Dorthy replied.
She was then approached by Red Hat. "Mind if I get a couple too?" Red Hat asked.
"Go ahead, we have enough for the both of you. So long as you don't have as big of an appetite." Sadie answered as she handed Red Hat a plate.
Red Hat took the plate with a smile. "Nah, I think one batch is good enough for me." Red Hat begins eating with Jaden by his side.
Soon Red Hat and Jaden began eating their rice balls in peace and as quickly as they could. Zane and Atticus smiled at their exchange. While the rest of the audience found the entire exchange questionable to some what annoying. The gang had forced smiles on their faces, while Chazz was completely annoyed.
"You sure are eating a lot, Jaden." Red Hat said.
"Hey, at least you're eating too." Jaden replied.
"I've been eating nothing but sandwiches the entire year besides the rare fried shrimp at the Slifer Red Dorm. I want something different this time." Red Hat said. 'And well... Blair told me before, eating only one thing isn't healthy...'
"Well more for me." Jaden quiped before eating more rice balls.
"Hey give me some that water you have." Red Hat takes the water bottle Jaden had and began drinking some water.
"Hey, now I want it." Jaden takes the water bottle from Red Hat as he begins to drink from it. Jaden continues eating some more rice balls.
Chazz was now even more annoyed. "Scratch that, Red Hat is just as much as a clown when he's around Jaden."
"Look on the bright side. At least Red Hat isn't someone like you Chazz." Syrus remarked.
"Why you little..." Chazz muttered.
"I agree. Having Red Hat act like Chazz would not be a good thing in the slightest." Bastion replied.
"You know I'm not affraid to tackle the two of you right now..." Chazz said, now angered at their comments.
"Those two are something else, huh Zane?" Atticus asked.
"Yes..." Zane replied with a slight smile. "Those two aren't so different when together, but very much are different..."
"Yeah, I agree. When Red Hat is alone or with others, hetends to be very serious. However, when he's with people like Jaden, not only does he actually smile more, but you can see him actually having fun." Atticus and Zane took a glance at JAden and Red Hat and oticed they were fighting over the last rice ball. "Ha ha, they are quite the pair huh Zane?"
"Red Hat, when he's with Jaden he's a lot more cheerful. When he's dueling and when alone or with others, he's a lot more serious. He's quite the mystery isn't he." Zane said.
"Some things in life don't always have an answer. Hey, what ever makes Red Hat a respectable duelist, I fully support." Atticus replied.
"So do I." Zane agreed.
After a while, Jaden and Red Hat finsihed their food with smiles on their faces. Red Hat then quickly regains his composure. "Aww, yeah! I'm back!" Jaden said.
"And so am I!" Red Hat added.
"Sorry I kept you waiting, Zane, Atticus!" Jaden called out.
"Good luck out there you two." Dorthy encourged them as Sadie and her leave the arena with all the dirty plates.
"Alright, let's do this." Jaden said.
"Bring it on!" Zane replied.
"It's my turn, I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 2
"I play the spell Pot of Greed! So I draw 2 more cards." Jaden draws his cards. "I summon Elemental HERO Burstinatrix in attack mode! (Atk: 1200 Def: 800)" The red-clad heroine appeared on the field. "Now I play the spell Burst Impact! With this card, all monsters on the field except Burstinatrix are destroyed and you take 300 burn damage for every monster destroyed. It doesn't target so Cyber Phoenix can't stop it!" Burstinatrix was now engulfed by a fiery aura. Burstinatrix soon conjured a ball of glowing energy and tossed it at the Cyber Phoenix and destroying it.
Zane & Atticus: 7500 - 7200 LP
'Since Cyber Phoenix was destroyed by an effect, his effect doesn't activate. Clever Jaden.' Zane thought.
"Battle, Burstinatrix attack Zane directly! Flare Storm!" Burstinatrix conjured dark fire from her hands before thrusting her right hand and launched a fiery stream.
Zane & Atticus: 7200 - 6000 LP
"I'll through down a facedown and end my turn." Jaden ends his turn.
Hand 0
"Hey I go. It's my turn, I draw!" Atticus draws.
Hand 3
"I also play my Pot of Greed! So I get to draw 2 cards." Atticus draws his cards. 'This should help Zane out. Let's hope it doesn't backfire in our face.' Atticus thought as he continued. "I summo Pitch-Black Warwolf in atack mode! (Atk: 1600 Def: 600)" A dark werewolf beast appeared on the field. The werewolf carred a red and black blade. "Battle, Pitch-Dark Warwolf attack Elemental HERO Burstinatrix!" The were began charging in to the female hero.
'Pitch-Black Warwolf prevents us from activaing traps during the battle phase. Still, no point in activating it anyway.' Red Hat thought as the werewolf destroyed Burstinatrix.
Jaden & Red Hat: 800 - 200 LP
"I set three cards facedown and end my turn. Let's see what you can do." Atticus ends his turn.

"I won't let you push me around. Boku no Turn!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 5
"I'll play the spell Graceful Charity! I draw three cards then I discard two." Red Hat draws his cards and discards Elemental HERO Clayman and Wildheart. "I summon Breaker the Magical Warrior in attack mode! (Atk: 1600 Def: 1000)" Breaker appears on the field. "His effect, he gains one spell counter when summon which gives him 300 attack points. Althoug, I'm going to use it to destroy one spell or trap! So destroy Future Fusion!" Breaker's sword glowed blue and slashed at the continuous spell.
'Don't think you'll win just cause you destroyed my spell.' Zane thought.
"Next I'll play the spell Miracle Fusion! With this, I banish Elemental HERO Sparkman and King of the Swamp to fusion summon another Elemental HERO Shining Flare Wingman! (Atk: 2500 Def: 2100)" Another Shining Flare Wingman appeared on the field."He gains 300 attack per Elemental HERO in grave. since I send two more HEROs to the grave with Graceful Charity, Burstinatrix that was just destroyed earlier and another Shining Flare Wingman is in the grave, that's 2400 extra attack points! (Atk: 2500 - 4900 Def: 2100)"
"Sorry, but I'm not letting you attack. I activate the trap card Threatening Roar! With this you can't conduct your battle phase!" Atticus announced as a powerful roar was emitted, preventing Shining Flare Wingman from attacking.
Red Hat looked at his hand. 'We haven't damaged them enough times to win the duel. Those two facedowns Atticus has will be troublesome. I'll have to hope for the best. My Mirror Force may not work.' Red Hat thought as he observed the field. "I'll set two cards facedown and end my turn." Red Hat ends his turn.
Hand 1
'Aussa is in my hand. While I can't summon you, at least I want you to watch the specticule.' Red Hat thought. Aussa appeared next to him and simpley gave a light smile efore disappearing again.
"It's my turn, I draw!" Zane draws.
Hand 5
"I'll play the quickplay Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy your far right facedown you been saving a couple turns back." A powerful Typhoon blows away Red Hat's furthest facedown.
'Mirror Force is gone. Now I'll have to use a back up.' Red Hat thought as he covered his face with his arm from the winds
"Judging by that look on your face. It was either Mirror Force or a destruction trap." Zane noted.
Red Hat refused to admit it, but Zane was right. 'I don't have enough destruction in this deck.'
"Next I play the quick play spell card Cybernetic Fusion Support! By paying half my life points, I'm allowed to fusion summon this turn once, using monsters from my hand, field and or graveyard, by banishing the fusion materials for a machine type fusion monster!" Zane explained.
Zane & Atticus: 6000 - 3000 LP
"Next I play Power Bound! I banish my three Cyber Dragons to fusion summon, Cyber End Dragon! (Atk: 4000 Def: 2800)" Cyber End Dragon remerges onto the field with a mighty roar. "Thanks to Power Bond's effect, Cyber End Dragon atack points are doubled! (Atk: 4000 - 8000 Def: 2800)" Cyber End Dragon let out a roar as it's power was increased.
"Go trap card, Waboku! With this card I my mosters can't be destroyed in battle and I take no damagethis turn!" Red Hat annouced as a barrier was placed around his monsters. "Since you can't damage me, you'll take 4000 burn damage cause of Power Bond's effect."
"Sorry to disappoint you, but I activate a trap card!" Atticus said as he revealed his card. "Go Pikeru Circle of Enchantment! With this card, all effect damage this turn becomes 0. So we won't be taking Power Bond's negative side effect!" Atticus stuck a pose. "If that's what you were aiming for, you need a new act. Cause that wasn't going to work. I knew you tried that, so I put some cards in my deck to help support Zane!"
"We love you Atticus!" The girl students cheered. "Show them who's boss!"
"Thanks for the wonderful cheers ladies!" Atticus waves at them.
'You really are troublesome at times, Atticus.' Zane sweet dropped as he continued his turn. "Since I can't battle, Ill set two cards facedown and end my turn." Zane ends his turn.
Hand 0
"Alright it's now or never. It's my turn I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 1
"I play the spell card R Righteous Justice! Since we control Shining Flare Wingman I can destroy a spell or trap on the field. I choose the one your far right Zane!" Jaden announced, as Zane's far right facedown was destroyed.
'Unless you have plan, that was the wrong card.' Zane thought.
"Just what is Jaden's plan? He has no cards in his hand." Alexis pointed.
"If I had to guess, one of those facedowns Red Hat had set in the last turn will help Jaden out." Bastion replied as he observed the posibilities.
"If so, then I hope they know what they're doing. There is no second chance after this." Alexis said.
"Can those two lose already?" Chazz said irratated.
"Alright time let's go! Battle, Shining Flare Wingman attack that Cyber End Dragon!" Shining Flare Wingman leaped up inot the air and began to charge at Cyber End Dragon.
"Jaden wait! Your monster is weaker then it!" Syrus called out.
"Go quick play spell, Battle Fusion!" Red Hat announced as his card was revealed. "During the damage step, when a fusion monster we control battles a monster, our monster gains attack equal to the attack of the oponents monster, until the end of the damage step! (Atk: 4900 - 12900 Def: 2100)" Shining Flare Wingman's had green aura as his ower was increased.
"So our goals are the same, are they? Even so, you messed up your timing! I'll activate my quickplay spell Battle Fusion! That's you two, I have one too!" Zane exclaimed as his Cyber End Dragon was powered up once again. (Atk: 8000 - 20900 Def: 2800)
"Wow Zane, you really are good. I'm going to miss you." Jaden said.
"So will I." Red Hat added.
"So will I, you two. And that's why I'm passing the torch to you two." Zane simply said.
"Huh?" Jaden and Red Hat said simultaneously.
"Once I leave here, you two will be the top students at the school. Despite you two's rank, or your grades Jaden. You'll be the best, so make me proud." Zane said.
"I'll give it my all, Zane. And I'll start right here. Cause this duel is not done!" Jaden proclaimed.
"Wel then, you better make it count you two. Cause otherwise, this duel is over." Atticus reminded.
"Oh we both have a trick. Ready Jaden?" Red Hat said.
"Ready. I activate the trap card, Final Fusion!" Jaden announced as the trap was revealed. "When our fusion monsters battle, we take damage equal to our monsters combined attack points!"
"Sorry to rain on your parade, but I activate the counter trap card Solemn Judgment! By paying half of our LP Your trap card is negated! Sorry guys, we win!" Atticus said with a smirk.
Zane & Atticus: 3000 - 1500 LP
"Not quite, Atticus!" Red Hat interrupted. "I also activate a conter trap. Here's my Solemn Judgement! By paying half of our LP, your Solemn Judgment get'snegated! So That means our trap still goes through!"
Jade & Red Hat: 200 - 100 LP
"Thanks a lot pal." Jaden thanked with a smirk. "You know what that means!"
"I sure do." Zane simply said.
"Oh yeah, bring it on!" Atiicus said.
"Let's go out with a bang!" Red Hat added.
Cyber End Dragon and Shining Flare Wingman cllided, destroying each other and dealing damage to all four players equal to their combinded power. As both monsters collided, it created a massive four of them shielded themselves from the shockwaves created by their monsters destruction.
Zane & Atticus: 1500 - 0 LP
Jaden & Red Hat: 100 - 0 LP
Chazz stood up, waiting for the smoke to clear. "What happened down there?"
Bastion nodded as he stood up. "How did it end?"
All of the students and teachers waited impatiently to see who the winner would be. Zane and Atticus were sitting on a knee. Red Hat was sitting on a knee while clenching his left arm. Jaden was lying on his back looking at the ceiling exhausted. The students all stood of them enjoyed this amazing duel from the beginning to the end. As a final twist that they didn't expect, was had it end in a draw. Sheppard stood up and began clapping his hands, soon followed by Crowler and the rest of the audience. Jaden leaned his head back a little and looked at the audience. He then heard a voice next to him.
"You okay?" said Zane as he sat down next to him.
Jaden looked next to him. "I think so?"
Red Hat stood up and stopped clenching his left arm. "That was a satisfying duel."
"You look like you had a blast." Atticus said as he gave Red Hat a thumbs up. "You certainly had fun."
Red Hat returned the thumbs up, abeit a bit awkwardly. "That was fun. Most fun I had in a long time."
Jaden sat up as Zane looked at audience with a smile. "Looks like it ended in a draw."
Jaden nodded. "Yeah, does that mean... we gotta duel again?"
Zane looked at him with a smile. "Absolutely, some day we will. After all, I passed down the torch to you underclassman."
Jaden smiled back at him. "Sweet, I guess, until then. Leave it to me graduate!"
Zane's smile grew as he held out his hand. "Until then Jaden."
Jaden smiled as he slapped Zane's hand. "Yeah! And congrats on your graduation!"
Zane noddded. "Thanks." They both lied down on the stage, laughing after finally finsihing the tag duel.
Red Hat smiled a the scene. "I never seen Zane act like this."
Atticus smirked. "Better enjoy it while it last. Cause this won't happen again."
Both of them soon began laughing it off. Both of them having a lot of fun during their tag duel. The whole audience continued to applaud them and cheer for them as they laughed.
Later that Evening.
Red Hat came out for a walk as he was feeling a bit impatiant to leave the island and would rather sleep a little bit later. While he wasn't too please to leave the island to head back home. He at least wanted a bit change of scenery. Despite the fact he didn't like staying back at home for any reason other then to eat and have a roof over his head.
'Why am I not pleased to go back home? I mean, I get to go places again, like I used to don't I?' Red Hat thought as continued his walk. His walk eventually led him to the main gate which was surrounded by many students, most of them being Obelisk Blue girls.
'What could they all be doing?' Red hat wondered as he walked closer to the scene. As he got close he noticed at the center was none other then Atticus Rhodes, dressed in his Hawaiian shirt and brown shorts. Others that were with him was Jaden, Alexis, Zane and Syrus. Surrounding them were a bunch of Obelisk Blue girl students and for some reason Ms. Fontaine.
"Graduates! Fellow Students of Duel Academy! Lend me your ears!" Atticus anouced. "There are countless treasures in the world... But I happen to know of one kind of treasure that only exist right here!"
"Treasure?" Syrus repeated.
"Atticus! What are you talking about...!?" Alexis asked with a concerned look.
"What's this all about Atticus?" Jaden question.
"Just what do you mean by treasure anyway?" Red Hat added.
"Yes it's what you've all been waiting for! The bittersweet event that is the highlight of your academic career." Atticus paused before he had a smirk on his face. "It's the 'Who wants to be Zane Truesdale Date for the Graduation Party' Duel!"
"What!?" Alexis blinked.
"Atticus!?" Zane questioned.
"We just had a duel a few hours ago. Why another one?" Red Hat pointed out.
The Obelisk Blue girls though had other plans. "Y-Yes! I've been waiting for this!" An Obelisk Blue girl said.
"My deck has been preforming really well recently!" Jasmine chimed in with a smile. "I just know I can win this duel and be Zane's date!"
Red Hat just face palmed at that comment. 'I highly doubt it. I doubt you can even beat Chazz, let alone Bastion, Jaden, myself and especially Zane.'
"I don't know abbout that." Mindy replies before smiling. "I plan to go the party with all the hot graduates!"
"Hmmm... Maybe I can go as his chaperon..." Fonda Fontaine chimed in.
Red Hat dead panned at their comments. 'I swear you three are absolutely crazy. Not that I'll ever say it out loud of course.'
"The duel hasn't even started yet, and things are already heating up!" Atticus annouced.
Zane however was not amsued. "Here we go again."
"Atticus's always doing stuff like this." Alexis sighed. "So I guess I cant say that it's a complete surprise." Alexis then glanced at Zane. "Still... Maybe you should go along with it, Zane. It will be a nice memory for the girls."
Zane just closed his eyes in annoyance.
"Hey! Maybe I'll join in too for a change. What do you think?" Alexis asked with a smile.
Red Hat blinked a few time to comprehend what he just heard. 'Really, Alexis? You would even join in on this? Normally you wouldn't dare say someting like that.' Red Hat thought as he sweat dropped hearing that.
"What!? Alexis!?" Jasmine gasped.
"That's not fair... Now it's going to be harder for the rest of us..." Mindy complained.
"Alexis!" Zane glared at her.
"Ha ha ha! I don't think you have a choice this time, Zane!" Atticus said.
"If you really want me to go along with this... Then you as the sponsor of this contest will have to defeat me in a duel first." Zane explained.
"Of course! I've known you long enough to predict that you'd say that!" Atticus replied.
"Hmm... Well, well... This is getting interesting." Shappard said as he approached the large crowd.
"Chancellor Sheppard?" Alexis blinked as she noticed Shappards appearence.
"Don't worry. It doesn't look like you're doing anything wrong. As long as you duel with responsibility and have fun while you're at it." Sheppard asured them.
"Chancellor Sheppard... I don't know what to say." Alexis replied.
Sheppard smiled at them. "Besides, I've always loved seeing Zane and Atticus duel. Ha ha ha!"
"Man! I wanna join in too! This looks like fun!" Jaden exclaimed.
This promted evryone to give Jaden a questionable look. "You mean you wanna be Zane's date too, Jaden!?" Syrus asked.
"Not at all." Jaden replied.
Syrus dead panned at his reply. "You just want to duel, don't you?"
"I certainly hope that's why he want's to join." Alexis hoped.
"It's Jaden, Alexis. He just want's to duel and not even care about the whole thing." Red Hat reminded her.
"Well, I'm behind Zane all the way! Good luck, Zane!" Syrus cheered.
"Atticus, will you let me be your partner?" Jasmine chimed in. "My deck has been performing really well! I can support you!"
"What!?" Alexis was shocked at her friends declaration.
Atticus however smiled. "That's the spirit! I'd be happy to have you as my partner!"
Jasmine smiled and squeeled in excitment. "Thank you, Atticus!"
"Hey, Zane will be needing a partner, too! I could..." Jaden tried to say before he was interrupted by Zane.
"My partner will be Red Hat." Zane smiled at him. "Let's do this."
Alexis couldn't help but smile as well. "Red Hat... Hee hee. Zane must really trust you, huh?"
Red Hat though didn't respond. 'Zane must respect me a lot if keeps choosing me to be his partner. I got my deck all fixed up for this.' Red Hat thought as he stood by Zane's side.
"If I could help create a fond memory for one of you young ladies here... There's no opponent I won't face!" Atticus said.
"Time to duel." Red Hat simply said.
DUEL
Atticus & Jasmine : 8000 LP
Zane & Red Hat: 8000 LP
"I'll go first, if you don't mind Zane." Atticus suggested.
"Fine by me." Zane simply said.
"Heh, it's my turn, I draw!" Atticus draws.
Hand 6
"First I play the spell card Graceful Charity! I draw 3 cards then I discrd two!" Atticus draws his cards and discards his two cards. "Next I play the spell card Monster Reborn! With this, I bring back the monster that was just discarded. I'll special summon Beast King Barbaros in attack mode! (Atk: 3000 Def: 1200)" A large lion like beast warrior appeared on the field. It's lower body was all black while having a humanlike upter torso. It had a large spear and held a shield.
"3000 attack points on the first turn? Way to go Atticus." Jaden cheered.
"Since he was special summoned, his attack points don't drop, but he has no effect since he wasn't tribute summoned." Atticus explained.
'His effect isn't worth it anyway. Three tributes for a Raigeki effect isn't worth it.' Red Hat thought.
"Now I set a monster, then I'll set two cards facedown. That ends my turn." Atticus ends his turn.
Hand 2
"Very well. It's my turn, I draw!" Zane draws.
Hand 6
"First up I special summon Cyber Dragon in attack mode. (Atk: 2100 Def: 1600)" Cyber Dragon emerges onto the field. "Next here's Proto-Cyber Dragon! (Atk: 1100 Def: 600)" Prototype version of Cyber dragon appears on he field. "NExt I play the quickplay spell Photon Generator Unit! I tribute my two Cyber Dragons to special Cyer Laser Dragon from the deck! (Atk: 2400 Def: 1800)" The two Cyber Dragons disappeard in a flash and were replaced by a new metalic dragon. It had longer, sleeker, ad more Silver body than the others, but had a round-tiped tail for a laser.
"Woah, never seen Zane summon that before." Alexis commented.
"Way to go, Zane!" Syrus cheered.
"Cyber Laser Dragon effect, once per turn I can destroy one monster that has equal or more attack or defense pointsthan Laser Dragon's attack points." Zane explained.
"Wait, since my Beast King Barbaros has it's original attack." Atticus mused.
"It's means it will be destroyed by Laser Dragon! Let loose Blue Lightning Lash!" The tiip of the dragon's tail opened up and shot a beam of blue energy that struck Beast King Barbaros and destroyed it. "Lucky for you, Atticus. You still have a facedown. Now attack his facedown monster! Blue Lightning Blast!" The dragon opened its mouth and shot another energy beam that struck the facedown monster, which was revealed to be Iron Blacksmith Kotetsu. (Atk: 500 Def: 500)
"Iron Blacksmith Kotetsu flip effect activates. I'm allowed to add one equip spell from my deck to my hand. I'll choose to add United we Stand!" Atticus explained as he added his card.
"You'll need it. I'll set one card facedown and end my turn." Zane ends his turn.
Hand 2
"Before you do, I'll play the continuous trap card, Royal Decree! With this card, all trap cards, except this one will be negated and can't be activated." Atticus announced as his trap was revealed.
"Tee hee, way to go Atticus! Now we don't have to worry! It's my turn, I draw!" Jasmine draw.
Hand 6
"I summon Harpie Lady 1 in attack mode! (Atk: 1300 - 1600 Def: 1400)" The harpie with long, dark pink hair in purple straps around it's torso appeared. "Happie Lady 1 effect gives all wind monster and extra 300 attack points. Next I play the field spell Haripes' Hunting Ground!" The field was soon changed to a sady plain. What was most noticable about the plain was holograms of a Harpie Lady hunting down some Ojamas. The Ojamas 'badly' tried to fight back against the attack harpie in the background. "Now, very time I summon a Harpie Lady or Harpie Lady Sisters monster, I can destroy a spell or trap on the field. Also all wing beast monsters gain 200 more attack and defense points! (Atk: 1600 - 1800 Def: 1400 - 1600)"
'Playing Harpies huh? Fitting for a loud mouth rude girl like you. You have a very bad attitude when not around guys like Atticus. I'll destroy you here.' Red Hat thought as he now had a determined look on his face.
"Now I play the spell card Elegant Egotist! Since I control a Harpie Lady monster, I can now summon this monster from the deck! Appear the Harpie Lady Sisters! (Atk: 1950 - 2450 Def: 2100 - 2300)" Three harpie ladies appear. All three harpies wore some kind off gold armor, one had pink hair,another with orange hair an the third one had blue hair. "Harpie's Hunting Ground effect activates, so I can destroy that facedown you have." One of the harpie dives in and stomps on the facedown card ad destroys it.
"Yeah, that's how you do it!" Atticus cheered for Jasmie. "And since that Harpie Lady Sisters is powered up by all of that. You can destroy Zane's monster and deal damage."
"That's right. Battle, Harpie Lady Sisters attack that Cyber Laser Dragon!" All three harpies flew dowwards and slashed the mechanical dragon as it was destroyed.
Zane & Red Hat: 8000 - 7950 LP
"Harpie Lady 1, attack Zane directly!" The harpie lady charged and slashed it's claws at Zane. Zane however, just stood there as if he felt nothing.
Zane & Red Hat: 7950 - 6150 LP
"Lastly I'll set a facedown card and end my turn. It's your move Red Hat. Let's see you break this." Jasmine ends her turn.
Hand 2
"You'll reget saying that to me. Boku no turn!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 6
"I play the spell card, Card Destruction! With this card, we toss our hand and redraw the same number of cards." Red Hat says as he sent his cards to the graveyard and drew five cards.
"What could you possibly be planning?" Jasmine questioned as she discard her two cards ad redrew the same amount.
"You'll see. Next I play the spell card Heavy Storm! With this all spell and traps are destroyed!" Powerful winds destroy and blow away all the spells and traps on the field. Soon the area returned to normal after the field spell was destroyed. (Atk: 1800 - 1600 Def: 1600 - 1400) (Atk: 2450 - 2250 Def: 2300 - 2100)
"Man, so much for Scapegoat. The board was too full to use." Atticus pointed out as his cards were destroyed.
"So what? This won't chnage a thing! We still have field advatage!" Jasmine replied.
"As I said, you'll regret saying that. I banish Cyber Dragon and DMOC in my graveyard to special summon Chaos Sorcerer in attack mode! (Atk: 2300 Def: 2000)" Chaos Sorcerer appeared n the field before releasing purple flames. "Now I summon this card, a monster known as Bazoo the Soul-Eater! (Atk: 1600 Def: 900)" A purple ape like beat appeared on the field sitting while it's legs were crossed. It appeared to be feasting on some kind of pink orb.
"Just disgusting..." Jasmine said with a digusted look. "What are even going to do with him anyway. He can't beat any of my monsters!"
"You really are, so naive." Red Hat said with distain. "I'll use his effect. I can banish up to 3 monsters in my graveyard to have him gain 300 attack points for each monster until the end of your turn. I can only use this effect once during my turn. I banish Cyber Laser Dragon, Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer and Morphing Jar to have it gain 900 attack points! (Atk: 1600 - 2500 Def: 900)" The beast soon began eating three pink orbs which appeared to be souls and glowed a pink aura as it's power increased.
"Banishing so much for an attack boost? Unless Red Hat has a plan he's draining his own resources." Alexis noted.
"This is Red Hat were talking here, Alexis. He always has something up his sleeve." Jaden assured her.
"Now time for the ultimate card yet. I play the spell card Dimension Fusion! By paying 2000 life points, both of us get to special summon as many monsters that were banished. Since only our side has banished monsters, that means only we can bring monsters!" A vortex appeared above them. "Return to the field, DMOC, Cyber Dragon, and Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer!" All three monsters came down from the vortex and appeared on the field, next to the other two monsters. (Atk: 2800 Def: 2600) (Atk: 2100 Def: 1600) (Atk: 1800 Def: 700) "DMOC effect, I can add back a spell card from my grave back to my hand. I'll choose Heavy Storm." Red Hat adds back his card.
Zane & Red Hat: 6150 - 4150 LP
"Five monsters? In just one turn!?" Jasmine was shocked, seeing all those monsters just like that.
"But wait, why not bring back Cyber Laser Dragon?" Syrus questioned.
"Cyber Laser Dragon can not be special summoned except by Photon Generator Unit." Zane reminded them.
"Battle, Bazoo attack Harpie Lady 1!" The beast charges in and slams itself at the harpie and destroying it.
Atticus & Jasmine: 8000 - 7100 LP
"DMOC attack Harpie Lady Sisters! Chaos Scepter Blast!" DMOC twirled his staff and fired a large ball of dark energy at the Harpie Lady Sisters. "When DMOC destorys a monster in battle, it get's banished instead of going to the graveyard!"
Atticus & Jasmine: 7100 - 6250 LP
"Chaos Sorcerer, attack them directly!" Chaos Sorcerer launches purple flames at Jasmine, striking her directly.
Atticus & Jasmine: 6250 - 3950 LP
"Cyber Dragon attack them directly! Strident Blast!" The Metallic dragon rose and let out a stream of fire, striking Jasmine directly. 'Never thought I'd command a Cyber Dragon.'
Atticus & Jasmine: 3950 - 1850 LP
"Kycoo the Ghost Destryer, attack them directly!" Said monk charges forward and punches Jasmine directly. "Kycoo's effect, since you took battle damage involving him, I get to banish two monsters from your graveyards. I'll banish Harpie Lady 1 and Beast King Barbaros!" Kycoo began a chant and soon both Harpie Lady 1 and Beast King Barbaros were ejected from Jasmine and Atticus graveyards respectively.
Atticus & Jasmine 1850 - 50 LP
"Woah, that was almost a one turn kill. Just short of 50 life points" Alexis said.
"That was intense." Syrus added.
"Go get 'em you two!" Jaden cheered.
"NO! They can't lose!" One of the Obelisk Blue girls cried out.
"Do something!" Another Obelisk Blue girl said.
"I'll end my turn with a facedown." Red Hat ends his turn.
Hand 1
"Heh, not good. It's my turn, I draw!" Atticus draws.
Hand 4
"I play the spell card Pot of Greed! With this I draw 2 more cards." Atticus draws his cards. "I summon Gene-Warped Warwolf in attack mode! (Atk: 2000 Def: 100)" Gene-Warped Warwolf appears on the field. "Now I play two equip spells! First up I'll play Megamorph! With this, it doubles Gene-Warped Warwolf's attack points since my LP are lower. Then I play United we Stand! Giving him 800 more attack points!" Gene-Warped Warwolf glowed a red aura as his power was increased. (Atk: 2000 - 4800 Def: 100) "Battle, Gene-Warped Warwolf attack his Chaos Sorcerer!" The werewolf charged and impaled the Chaos Sorcerer with it's claws as it was destroyed.
Zane & Red Hat: 4150 - 1750 LP
"I'll set two more cards facedown and end my turn." Atticus ends his turn.
"You got them now Atticus!" Jasmine cheered.
'It's all for naught.' Red Hat thought with a smirk.
"It's my turn. I draw!" Zane draws.
Hand 3
"This duel is over Atticus." Zane simply said.
"Wait what do you mean by that?" Atticus asked.
"You over looked a detail, Atticus. I'll activate Red Hat's facedown card! Which so happens to be Heavy Storm! All spell and traps are destroyed!" Power winds once again, destroyed all spells and traps on the field.
"Wait, you actually set that card?" Atticus questioned as he covered his face with his arm, from the winds.
"It's an old tactic used to psych the opponents out, thinking you didn't draw Heavy Storm, or your setting something else." Red Hat explained. "It doesn't always work though. Often it can back fire on you, especially the more times you do it."
"It's over Atticus, but before that, I'll play the spell card Metamorphosis! I tribute Dark Magician of Chaos and special summon Cyber Twin Dragon! (Atk: 2800 Def: 2100)" The twin headed cybernetic dragon appears. "Battle, Cyber Twin Dragon attack Gene-Warped Warwolf with double strident blast!" After hearing Zane's command, the twin headed machine let out two separate blasts of energy at Gene-Warped Warwolf and depleting both of Atticus and Jasmine LP.
Atticus & Jasmine: 50 - 0 LP
"Argh! You two are too strong!" Atticus said.
"Awww! It's not fair!" Jasmine complained.
"As they say, tough luck." Red Hat quiped.
"I'm OK... I-I'm not upset at all..." The Obelisk girl though began crying while looking away.
"I can't believe it!" Mindy whinned.
"What!? That's too bad... But it was a pretty impressive duel Zane." Fonda Fontaine praised.
"Nice try, Atticus." Zane said with a smile.
"I've got to hand it to you, Zane. I'm sorry everyone." Atticus apologized.
"Aw... That's too bad." Alexis said,although she didn't seem to bothered by the result.
"Well, if I can't have Zane, then YOU have to be my date Atticus!" Mindy demanded.
"Wha!?" Atticus was shocked at what he just heard.
"Yeah! Be my date, Atticus!" Jasmine added.
"L-Ladies, ladies... I'm not even graduating!" Atticus reminded them.
"I agree. If we can't have Zane, we should at least have Atticus." Fonda suggested.
Atticus takes a few steps back. "But I'm not graduating yet! This s getting out of hand. I'm out of here." Atticus then begins to flee.
Jasmine noticed Atticus trying to flee. "Hey! Wait a minute! Atticus!"
"I guess we don't have a choice... Whoever grabs him getsto be his date!" Mindy suggested as she and a few Obelisk girls began to chase Atticus down.
Atticus began running away and turned to look behind him. "W-Wait a minute! Ladies!"
Alexis sighed as the girls began chasing him. "Let him get a taste of his own medicine. I hope it'll make him think twice before pulling a stunt like this again."
"Atticus is quite the handful, isn't he?" Red Hat responded, sweat dropping at the entire fiasco.
However a few remaining Obelisk Girls that stayed behind spoke up. "You know, I still want to be Zane's date!"
"I'm gonna go to the party with the both of them!" Another Obelisk girl said.
Mindy turns around as she stops chasing Atticus. "That's a great idea. We might as well just go with both of them."
"H-hey, Mindy! Just what are you doing!?" Alexis questioned.
Zane takes a few steps back and glares at all the girls. "This is getting ugly... Let's get out of here Red Hat. This way!" Zane told Red Hat as he bgan to flee, with Red Hat following behind him.
"Hey! Stop right there, Zane!" Fonda Fontaine ordered.
Zane and Red Hat continue to run to the forest. 'What is wrong with all of you? You all are absolutely cray!' Red Hat thought.
The others stood there in shock at what just happened. Jaden, however didn't quite get what was going on. "Man, they really like Zane that much huh?"
"Those girls will have to stop soon." Alexis sighed.
"What about the graduation party Zane is going to have?" Syrus asked.
"Zane probably won't go." Alexis replies. "Besides, it's not the end of the world if he dosn't show up. The girls will be disappointed, but I'm sure not."
"Man, if only I got to duel with Zane. It would have been a lot of fun teaming up with him for his final send off." Jaden said with a smile.
"Some things just aren't meant to be, Jaden." Syrus said. "Let's head back, by tomorrow it's summer vacation."
"Heck yeah, and once the next years starts, even more fun duels to have." Jaden says as he begins to run at the direction where the Slifer Red Dorm was. "Race you there!"
"Hey, no fair! Wait up Jay!" Syrus cried out as he tried his best to catch up.
'Until next time. I'll see you guys later.' Alexis thought as she walked off alone, to return to her dorm room.
Zane and Red Hat began running through the forest. Avoiding the girls that were chasing them and Atticus around. Many girls decided to give up on them and decided to chase Atticus again in another location. Red Hat and Zane were able to give the girls a slip through the forest and now began walking normally to the Obelisk Blue boys dorm. This however, was not meant to be when they got there. As Zane approached the Obelisk Blue boys dorm from the forest. He immediately came back inside the forest as Red Hat took a peek at the open area.
"Wh-wha? Just what is this..." Red Hat whispered.
"The girls surrounded the Obelisk Blue boys dorm. Looks like I won't be going in there anytime soon." Zane simply said.
"What now? Do you have anything in there that you need?" Red Hat asked.
"I have nothing personal in my room. Guess we'll just have to step aside and pull back." Zane replied.
"Zane... let's head to the Slifer Red Dorm and you can stay there for a while." Red Hat suggested. "The girls wouldn't dare go to the Slifer Red Dorm."
Zane thought about it for a moment before nodding his head. "Very well, I'll go there."
"Follow me, Zane." Red Hat said as they continue to move around the forest. All the while being very careful to not get caught by any Obelisk Blue girl.
Later that Night
After Zane stayed around at the Slifer Red Dorm for a while. The entire fiasco soon blew over, with many of the girls having returned to their dorms and gave up the chase and opportunity. Zane not even showing up to the graduation party was the final nail in the coffin.
"I hope nothing bad happened." Red Hat said.
"They'll get over it soon enough." Zane simply said. "You know, the Red Dorm isn't that bad all things considered. It's a nice place for you guys."
Red Hat gave him a small smile. "I like it here. It may not be fancy, but I enjoy simplicity. There's a charm to simplicity."
Zane simply nodded. "I can understand where you're coming from. Still, no need to act so self-righteous about it."
"I'll work on that, Zane." Red Hat said as he turned around, pretending to be whistling.
"I'll return to my room now, Red Hat. Make Duel Academy proud with your dueling. Jaden too." Zane said as he began walking down the steps. "By tomorrow, I'll be leaving the island to head to the pro legues."
Red Hat nodded. "I'll see you later, Zane. Someday we'll meet there and have intense duels."
Zane gave him a smile. "I'll look forward to that day. Until then, keep on improving your dueling skills." Zane soon walks off, and soon to prepare for his future.
Red Hat waves at Zane with a smile. 'I'll have to leave for summer vacation too. I don't like it, but who know what I'll have in store for the future.' Red Hat soon returns to his room and drifts to sleep. Hoping to someday head to the pros, just like Zane. Only something else was missing deep within him, but also wanted. Although he still didn't fully understand what he fully wanted. Only time would tell, as he would soon begin his summer vacation.
A/N: This took a while to get done. I had to check with multiple versions of cards. The combo Zane and Jaden does with Battle Fusion and Final Fusion. It's only possible with the anime version and Tag Force version. It's not possible to perform that combo with the real versions because damage step rulings. Reason cause with the real versions, you have to chain Battle Fusion. You can't activate them seperately. Technically you can, ut then it's too late to use Final Fusion, cause the real verion is based on the damage step, not damage calculation like anime and Tag Force version. Don't you just love rulings.
The second duel is based on Original Zane route in Tag Force 3. It's more for some silly comedy. Cards used are based on multiple different decks. They aren't meant to be the same deck from Tag Force. The reason Red Hat played HEROs was more for 'Synergy' purposes. Nothing less and nothing more. Also I hate that crap the anime pulls, where only one person can use this deck or else your copying. Which is just an excuse to shill more new cards (No matter how terrible or broken). As in real life that mentality is so dumb. Also like I stated before, since I'm using anime lore. Red Hat will not have cards he isn't supposed to have. Thus the decks are much weaker then in real life in some circumstances.
For the next time, I'll be doing a three part chapter before we begin season 2 of GX. The three part will be focusing on Red Hat. As of the next chapter and original Tag Force characters will begin to appear. At first I was heasitent to put them in the fanfic. After long consideration, I'll be using the Tag Force original characters in various intervals through out the fanfic. That way, they'll get some focus and not fully detrack from the story. Also reason for this is also cause season 2 GX is one of my least favorite seasons of GX. It's most known for nothing happening for half the season. Thus I'll use that time to use said characters. Would make for some different takes. Anyway see you next time for the three part chapters.
