Clash of Heros - Jaden vs Aster
A/N: Took a hiatus on this fic, cause was working on my other fics at the time. Now I'm back to continue this fic. Time to adress a couple of comments. Names will not be mentioned cause you should know who I'm refering too.
1) This will be completed one day, for however long it takes. I say this cause many writers are known to cancel projects once they reach season 2 or barely get started on season 3 and quit. Many even reboot their own works. I'm not doing that. I plan to finish this no matter what.
2) This wasn't really meant to be a progression series. (I'm not a fan of that, cause this caused many modern players to misunderstand how old school meta was played back then, and started using modern understanding of the game. Example, now in Goat Format almost everyone plays Solemn Judgement depending on the deck. Back in the day the mentality was different on that card. Ignoring, this is always the TCG side. I do the OCG side, which no one wants to do.) Originally this was meant to be have the character play close to meta with meta cards and removal, cause many believe playing removal like Dark Hole makes less interesting duels, which in reality it's the opposite. Eventually I realized, character playing only Chaos Control/Chaos Return deck was not sustainable. It's why I from time to time show off as many decks as I can from the same time period. I get what you mean though.
3) Bruh, the cynicism in this fanfic you'd understand more if you knew how I view the anime in multiple fronts. Mostly how awful Obelisk Blues and Ra Yellows are in many circumstances. The entire joke is that, now there's someone who is much stronger then even Jaden, and he's Slifer Red, that will never put up with their bad attitude, unlike Jaden who just ignores it. I don't even know what kind of standard you're trying to hold me accountable.
Anyway, now that's out of the way. Hope you all enjoy.
Jaden, along with his friends, the entirity of academy students and staff members watched on the TV. Red Hat stood in front of the door and looked at the TV himself. There, he saw how Aster was surrounded by reporters, after he defeated Zane. Just seeing reporters was causing Red Hat to have second thoughts about what he considered for his future career. He was never a fan of huge crowds, let alone reporters breathing down his neck. He shook his head, realizing this isn't the time to think about that right now.
A female reporter smiled at Aster ad held out her microphone towards him. "That was a maginificent victory, Aster Phoenix."
Aster got a smirk on his face. "He was certainly strong, but it was destined that I would win."
"This time, you used your prized HERO deck out there, but why at a time like this?" asked the reporter.
Aster looked directly at the camera that was filming him. "There is a duelist at the Duel Academy that I enrolled in, who uses a HERO deck like me."
Jaden was shocked at what he just heard. Hassleberry looked at him. "He's talking abou you, right Sarge?"
'Who else would it be, you chowder head? No one else in this Academy plays HEROs. That tag duel we had doesn't count... not that you would know that.' Red Hat thought.
"I was originally the faster one to make the HERO deck, but in all the craziness, this duelist became famous. The other day, I heard a story about how that duelist was on par with Zane Truesdale. In which case, if I were to win against Zane Truesdale, it would then turn out that I'm the stronger one. That is why I used this opportunity to display my deck."
"So, he's saying that he used Zane as a guinea pig?" Bastion questioned.
Aster looked at the other reporters. "Still, there is propably someone among my fans who still finds it imperfect, as well. So, I want to announce that I will borrow the place... to challenge the duelist who is using the identical HERO deck: Jaden Yuki!"
Jaden narrowed his eyes. Red Hat looked unamused, not from what he said, but rather the whole who is the better HERO user. Different varients of HEROs exist. They're decks werent the same. If anything, the way they deck build was much different from each other.
Aster at that moment looked at the camera, as if he was looking at Jaden directly. "Jaden Yuki, I'll be going to Duel Academy tomorrow. When I do, we'll settle once and for all... which of us is more worthy of using heroes."
Red Hat glared at the TV screen. 'Just what are you on about? Isn't this just being petty? It's not like I start a fit if someone else uses a chaos deck on me. If anything, that's just a bigger challenge for me to face.' He thought.
Crowler was surprised at what he just heard. "Mamma Mia! Aster is coming? This time I have to talk to him."
Bonaparte chuckled however. "A duel between Aster Phoenix and Jaden Yuki? This has turned open a porte towards me!"
Red Hat glared at them. 'Just what are you scumbags up to? Don't think you can get rid of Jaden and I that easily.'
Syrus looked at Jaden worried. "So, big bro and Aster are having a rematch?"
Alexis glanced at them. "A battle of heroes against heroes."
Jaden remained silent and smiled. 'This is the best! I'm so pumped now!'
Red Hat glanced at the group before leaving the classroom. 'So, Aster wants to duel Jaden with Elemental HEROs huh? While this interesting, why do I feel like something is very wrong?' He thought as he walked through the hallways to return to his dorm.
The next day, Sartorius sat and shuffled his tarot cards. While he was doing so, Aster walked in to the room. Sartorius looked at him over his shoulder. "Are you going?"
Aster nodded. "As much as I'd like to, I can't afford to be taking detours. I'll go all over the world and find them as soon as possible!"
Sartorius looked at Aster. "You mustn't hurry, for the doors of destiny will always open." He then placed a card on the table. "Aster, are you using those cards?"
Aster noddded with an annoyed look on his face. "That is my intention. I will show Jaden Yuki the true Heroes."
Sartorius chuckled a little. "You're saying that you don't approve of his pride as a fellow HERO user, I take it?" He then slightly turned towards Aster. "In that case, I will look at the fighting spirit and future that dwell within your deck."
Aster took out his deck and walked over to Sartorius and placed it in his hand. What Aster didn't noticed however, was that Sartorius's eyes began to glow completely white. Dark purple energy came out of the hand that held Aster's deck with. He then placed his other hand on top of the deck and the energy got sucked into it as Sartorius's eyes stopped glowing.
Aster looked at him. "How's my destiny?"
Sartorius turned towards him and handed back his deck to him. "It would seem as though I didn't even need to fortell it."
Aster smirked. "I will be back soon."
Aster then walked away, with Sartorius chuckling. Everything was in place, now all Aster had to do was win and then the only one who could stand in his way would join him instead.
Sartorius however was a bit troubled. While he had seen that Aster would be victorious in this duel. The card, known as The Devil appeared again. This was troubling him to no end. For some reason, there was someone out there who represents 'The Devil'. He could not pin point who that person was. Every time he tried, his vision was blocked. Just who is this devil? How does such a being exist? For now, it didn't matter. In his vision, 'The Devil' wasn't interfering in this duel.
'Just who are you? Why can't I identify you?' He thought as he shuffled his cards again.
Meanwhile at the docks, Crowler and Bonaparte stood there. Waiting for Aster to arrive. However, they haven't seen the slightest sign of a boat and they had been standing there for hoursnow. Bonaparte was grumbling irritated. Both Crowler and Bonaparte were shivering from the cool air of the autumn breeze.
"According to his bureau, it sounds as though Aster Phoenix is already on his way here." said Bonaparte, holding his cheeks with his palms.
Crowler tried to rub his arms. "He really did not have to come this late, did he?"
At the same time, a plane flew over the island. From inside the plane, Aster was currently well secured on a board. Once the hatch of the plane opened up. Aster then jumped out of the plane and shouted in excitement as he air surfed through the air towards the island. After falling for a while. he kicked off the board from his feet and released a parachute. He looked down on the island, planning on ending this affair quickly.
Meawhile at the Ra Yellow dorm. Jaden sat on Bastion's bed and looked through his deck. Red Hat followed the the trio and sat down next to the bed. Red Hat looked through his deck and started switchinng cards around. He didn't care about the current affairs of the duel that was about to happen. What he wanted to see, was just how powerful Aster actually was.
'Just how powerful are you, Aster? You held back against Jaden in the first duel. The fact you took down Zane with Elemental HEROs, shows you're a lot more skilled.' He looked through his deck until he stopped when he got to Aussa's card. 'But why come here, just to duel Jaden? The Academy is beneath you, so why come here all of a sudden?'
While he was collecting his thoughts. Bastion wanted to do some research about Aster, before Jaden's duel with him. Red Hat raised an eye brow. While he wasn't aware on how the Ra Yellow and Obelsik Blue dorm rooms were. The fact Bastion had a computer in his room was... interesting to say the least. Did this mean both dorms had access to computers? Even if it's just for research purposes. He would have to look into that some other day.
Bastion narrowed his eyes as pictures of Aster from different sport competitions appeared on the screen. "Aster Phoenix... his hoppies are surfing, skydiving, and skiing, and he excels at those sports. So this guy already has two PhDs through skipping grades?"
Red Hat eyes widened as he heard Bastion's explaination. 'Two PhDs? And he skipped grades?' He looked at Aussa's card a little longer. 'So, Aster is not only a pro, but also a prodigy? It's no wonder Zane lost to him.' He closed his eyes, as his thoughts trailed off. 'Blair... how do you intend on skipping grades?' He thought what she said since he last saw her. He didn't realize that the trio was starring at him.
"What's up with him?" Syrus asked.
"Probably, dreaming about something." Bastion noted.
"Anyway..." Syrus look at Bastion with a troubled look. "The fact Aster has two PhDs and skipped grades, means he's a prodigy among prodigies who didn't even lose to my brother?"
Jaden yawned as he looked at his deck. "Come on, you guys don't really have to look into him that shamlessly. I mean, I'm the one dueling, and all."
Both of them looked at Jaden and Syrus spoke up. "What are you saying, Jaden? Bastion is just trying to help by finding any little weakness that Aster might have!"
Red Hat heard this and merly raised an eye brow. 'If it's just a duel, then Jaden doesn't have too much to worry. It's a HERO miror match, there's not much science about it. It's just Jaden would have to be more careful when he duels Aster. From what I've seen, Aster is more focused on control.'
Jaden looked at them. "Even if I win or lose, I just need to duel and enjoy myself." Jaden yawned again and layed down o the bed. "Man, these are nice! Ra Yellow's beds are so soft and fluffy!" Soon he began to sleep.
Red Hat couldn't help but chuckle. "Ah Jaden, being so lax like usual. Techincally, he's right though. Even if Jaden loses, nothing bad would happen. Just means, Jaden would have to try harder the next time he and Aster duel. Assuming there will be a next time."
Syrus and Bastion sighed at their actions. Sometimes they wondered, how can Red Hat act so different and lax when he's around Jaden. Yet, when he's with others or alone, he tends to act very serious and aggressive. Sometimes, they'll never fully understand him.
At the same time at the main building, a man with a helmet and protective glasses smashed awindow and entered the card shop. He saw packs with cards and chuckled. He quickly filled his bags with the packs and picked up the few that fell out. He soon ran out with the bag in his arms while chuckling, since he would get away before anyone eve noticed him. As he exited the building, he then heard a creepy laugh behind him.
"Stealing cards from the store... That's the scum that exists among people everywhere."
The theif turned around and looked after the owner of the eyes then went up to the roof of the Academy. He then saw a figure of a creture with a red cape up there. "Who's there!?
"Why don't you repent for that crime of yours with a duel?"
The man gritted his teeth, and activated his duel disk.
A few moments later, a largeexplosion happened. The thief was knocked to the ground as his monster was destroyed. He looked up a little scared at the creature in front of him. The same one from the roof. Aster who sat behind it on a stone structure with his duel disk activated, chuckled. "I see you don't know whe to give up. Your destiny has already been decided." The creature then jumped up and prepared his attack. A few seconds later, the man's scream could be heard throughout the entire island.
This caused Crowler and Bonaparte who was still at the docks, to look towards the main building, before looking at each other. Immediately, they began running towards the building to find out what was going on. "We must hurry. That came from the main building!"
Jaden, Bastion, Syrus, and Red Hat heard the scream and quickly ran out of the Ra dorm. "What was that explosion?" Jaden said.
"There was a scream this time!" Syrus pointed out.
'What's going on here?' Red Hat thought.
Back at the main gate, after Aster defeated the theif. He walked over to him as he was now unconscious. He took the deck from the duel deck slot and looked through it. He narrowed his eyes after he was finished.
"How could someone like you be carrying that card?" He tossed the thief's deck t the ground next to him.
Moments later, Jaden and his friends arrived as well as Crowler and Bonaparte. All of them got shocked when they saw Aster standing there. Red Hat while shocked as everyone else, was also somewhat amused. Aster actually came here, and at night time no less.
Syrus then noticed the man lying on the ground. "Huh? Who's he?"
Aster closed his eyes with a smirk. "Some scum that tried to steal cards from the store. You don't need to worry about him."
Syrus and Bastion ran over to the man. Red Hat slowly walked over to him and took notice at the cards that were on the floor. He took a look at every possible card, only to find one useful card. He mentally chuckled. 'A Solemn Judgment? Saves me the trouble of getting another copy.' He slowly took the card and placed it in his back pocket, ignoring the rest of the cards.
Syrus looked troubled when he saw the man. "How awful... He's completely lost consciousness..."
Bastion looked at Aster with a glare. "What did you do to him?"
Red Hat just smirked. "If Aster took the time out of his night to take down a thief. You should be grateful, he even bothered."
Bastion turned to Red Hat with a questionable look. "You approve of this? He could have just detained him and then contacted one of the staff members."
"With this school's incompetent security? I don't think so. If you understod where I lived, you'd understand why I prefer more drastic messures." Red Hat said with his back turned to them.
Bastion was about to speak up, until he remained quiet and process what he said. What did Red Hat mean by where he lived? Did he approve of this kind of behavior, even if it meant taking down criminals? If so, what kind of life has he lived? Did he actually did things like this? Or did he just so happen to experience things in a similar matter?
Aster looked at Red Hat with a smirk. "No need to thank me." He then turned his attention towards Jaden. "Jaden, it's been a while, hasn't it?"
Syrus came over to him and gave him an irritated look. "Hey, shouldn't you be calling him you senior?"
"You're in no position to be making demands for Aster. Also, Aster is above all of us, he doesn't need to care." Red Hat said, while glaring at Syrus.
Jaden looked at Syrus. "Just calm, Syrus."
"Why don't we settle things?" said Aster.
At that moment, Bonaparte spoke up. "I have a great idea, Monsieur Phoenix. We will have the survie of the Red dorm riding on this duel." Crowler looked at him both shocked and irritated.
Aster looked at him. "If you're trying to utilize my dueling, you'll have to become my sponsor."
Bonaparte was shocked at what he just heard. "Huh, your sponsor?"
Aster closed his eyes and walked past him. "Of course, with your salary, it would be a pointless discussion, wouldn't it?"
Bonaparte gritted his teeth in anger. Crowler looked down at him. "You must control yourself. He speaks la verita, after all."
Red Hat held back from laughing at Bonaparte's failed attempt to use Aster for his personal goals. 'Serves you right. As they say, tough luck you pretencious clown.'
Aster stopped and spoke to Jaden who was behind him. "I'll be waiting for you at the Duel Arena first thing in the morning. However, aside from your friends, we'll do this without an unnecessary gallery."
Bastion looked at him confused. "No spectators?"
Aster looked at them behind his shoulder. "To me, this a duel that won't be anything special. A pro, doesn't recklessly expose his skills."
'Counter intuitive, if you ask me. It's not like you use the same deck everytime.' Red Hat thought.
Jaden narrowed his eyes. "Fine, then. As a duelist who uses a similar HERO deck, I can't afford to lose this duel, either. My HERO deck is everything to me!"
Aster looked at him. "It's everything to you?" Aster began to laugh before turning towards Jaden. "Don't forget those words now, Jaden." Aster then walked away while Crowler and Bonaparte chased after him, to talk to him.
The Next Day
Red Hat was currently sleeping his bed, oblivious to the fact it was already morning. As he continued to snore about, until he then heard his PDA ringing with a message, which caused him to wake up immediately. As he got up from his bed, rubbed his eye lids, and stretched. He took a look at his PDA, only to see the message that was given to him, it was a message from Bastion.
'Red Hat, don't tell me you're still sleeping? Jaden is already here at the arena. The match will begin soon. Alexis, Chazz, Hasslebery, Syrus and I are already here. Hurry up, we're waiting for you!' The message soon ended.
Red Hat scowled at this. 'Out of all the days for me to over sleep, why now?' He thought as he quickly got his deck and put his shoes on, before running all the way to the arena. He ignored breakfast, not that he really wanted any at the moment in the first place.
As Red Hat made his way to the entrance of the arena, he then noticed two familiar girls about to enter the arena. As he got close, he immediately glared. It was none other then Alexis two 'friends', Jasmine and Mindy. He immediately ran in front of them, stopping them in their tracks.
"Hey, what's the big idea?!" Jasmine asked, glaring at the Slifer.
"Who invited you two? No spectators are allowed besides Jaden's close friends." Red Hat pointed out, also glaring at the Harpie user. "You two aren't his friends."
"Hey, we're totally his friends! We were even allowed to come with Alexis." Mindy protested.
Red Hat did not buy any of it and glared at the two. "No, you couldn't care less about Jaden. You two are here to root for Aster Phoenix in a sorry attempt to get his attention. Just who are you trying to fool? I'm more amazed you found out about him today."
Jasmine was now infuriated. "Grr, let us through!" As they tried to get passed him, Red Hat gripped both of their wrists and tightly held both of them back. "Hey! What's the big idea?!"
Red Hat tighten his grip and continued to glare. "Leave now, you are not welcome here. Or should I tell Atticus that you abandoned his fan club to chase someone else. I'll even have him revoke your posistions and take back his autographs he gave you."
"You... you wouldn't do that, will you?" Mindy cried out.
"Try me. I can do a lot worse. Don't push what little paitence I have left." He warned, still gripping their wrists tightly.
They both struggled and then thought about the situation. Just who did he think he was? Did he always treat others like this? Why was he so cold and cruel? No one else dared to act such a way to them. Not even the more horrile boys from Obelisk Blue treated them like this. Yet, this guy from Slifer Red was not only very ruthless, but his eyes read he did not care if he had to face major punishments. What they did know, they didn't want to split up from Atticus' fan club.
"Okay, you win. We give in." Jasmine cried out.
Red Hat laughed it off, smiling at the satisfaction of watching these two squirm. "Glad you see it my way." He then let go of their wrists.
"Let's leave, Jasmine! Who knows what else he can do! I don't want to be gone from Atti's fan club!" Mindy said, frighten at the thought at what Red Hat is capable of.
"I'm not through with you yet. Don't think I won't forget this!?" Jasmine screeched as she ran off with Mindy following close behind her.
Red Hat sighed, glad to know those faker of friends are gone. Last thing he needed to see was a bunch of fan girls cheering for Aster, while pretending to be Jaden's friends, despite Aster strictly saying, no one was allowed besides Jaden's friends. While he was calming down and collecting his thoughts, he heard a cough behind him. He turned around and saw Alexis standing there with her arms crossed, glaring at him.
"That was uncalled for. You didn't have to go that far. I don't know what gave you the idea that was okay." Alexis scolded him.
"Those two were going to pretend to be Jaden's friends, just so they can go and cheer for Aster." He faced away from her. "Trying to weasel your way in and pretend to be someone's friends for their own desires is something I will never tolerate."
"You're lucky they aren't going to report you. If they did, you would be in detention or at worst temporarily suspended for attempted assault." Alexis pointed out, still glaring at him.
"Remind me, how are you even friends with them? You three have very little in common. Why forgive them for their actions they been pulling anyway? After their sorry attempts to hook you up with people you clearly don't even like in the first place and telling them you aren't interested." He replied, still refusing to face her.
"Look, that's none of your business. I can handle their antics when they try that. That doesn't give you the right to just 'attack' them like that." Alexis continued to scold him.
"If you think that's an attack, imagine what I can do being in the Satellite." He muttered loudly.
Alexis raised an eye brow at his last statement. "The Satellite? Just what are you talking about?"
Red Hat realized what he said and shook his head as he walked past her. "Nothing, was talking to myself." He deflected and entered the arena. 'I'm not going to apologize for my actions back there. Those two shouldn't have weaseled their way in here cause Aster is here.'
"You're a real piece of work aren't you?" Aster spoke up with his eyes closed, smirking and not even bothering to face him. "That's a good way to lose a lot of support and fans."
Red Hat scofted at his comment. "Spare me the lecture, Aster."
The rest of the group sighed and sweat dropped. "Must you always cause such unnecessary conflict?" Bastion asked.
"Not my fault, we got fake friends coming here." Red Hat defended. "Besides, those two are always loud and obnoxious."
"Just what kind of rouge soldier are you? Going after cilivians like that?" Hassleberry asked.
"Spare me the complaints." Red Hat replied as he took notice that Jaden was shuffling his deck. "Besides, we got more important things to do. We're here to watch Jaden's match." He said as he took a seat next to Bastion.
Jaden looked at his deck that was shuffled and placed into his duel disk. "I'm counting on you, my heroes."
Crowler and Bonaparte were sat down in the far opposite side of the seats. Bonaparte held a micrphone and stood up. "We will now hold a duel between Jaden Yuki and Aster Phoenix!"
Crolwer narrowed his eyes. "You must do your best, Jaden Yuki." He muttered to himself.
Meanwhile at the entrance to the arena. A man dressed in white was taking a call. "Yes, Master Sartorius. The duel is about to begin."
Back inside Sartorius room. Sartrius was seen sitting down on his seat as his tarot cards were spread out. "Though, I already know of the outcome..." He opened his eyes and smirked. "Jaden Yuki... Now, he is about to become one of us, as well..." Sartorius stood up and let his cloat to fall off. "And Aster Phoenix will experience this duel and rise onto new heights!"
Sartorius took a long look at 'The Devil' card that was flipped over. The card's position was upside down. As he used his power to get another vision. He was able to get a glimpse of someone, but he was covered by a shadow. Sartorius narrowed his eyes.
"When I find you, I'll eliminate you. This world has no place for devils."
Back at the duel arena. Aster took out his deck and placed his deck into his duel disk. As he did, a dark aura was emitted from his deck.
As Jaden looked at his deck, Winged Kuriboh appeared in front of Jaden and communicated with him. "Winged Kuriboh?" The furball pointed forward. "'Dont let your guard down', Huh? Yeah I know. This duel's going to be a duel that'll prove how much you guys and I have grown together so far this year."
Aster looked at Jaden with a blank stare. 'What is Sartorius fussing about with a duelist like this?' He thought.
Aussa appeared next to Red Hat's side with a worried look. 'Red Hat, something is wrong here.'
"What's the matter?" He whispered to her.
'There's a dark aura in Aster's deck. I can't exactly pin point what it is.' Aussa explained.
"Really now? Let's hope it's nothing to bad, but I wouldn't hold my breath." He muttered as Aussa disappeared.
Jaden pointed at Aster. "Aster! Let's have a great duel! A battle of HEROs against HEROs!"
"We'll settle which of us is the true HERO user!" Aster said confidently. Both of them ready their duel disks.
DUEL
Aster: 8000 LP
Jaden: 8000 LP
"I'll go first! I draw!" Aster draws.
Hand 6
"I set a monster facedown and end my turn." Aster ends his turn.
Hand 5
Red Hat raised an eye brow. 'Set one pass? Did he brick?' He thought as he observed Aster's play.
"Aw yeah, it's my turn. I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 6
"I play the spell card Polymerization! I fuse Avian and Burstinatrix in my hand to fusion summon, Elemental HERO Flame Wingman! (Atk: 2100 Def: 1200)" Flame Wingman appeared from the swirling vortex. "Battle, Flame Wingman attack his facedown monster! Infernal Rage!" Aiming directly at the facedown monster. Flame Wingman fired a blast of his power at the facedown monster, revealing to be Clayman as it was destroyed. (Atk: 800 Def: 2000) "Don't forget about Flame Wingman's effect. You take damage equal to your destroyed monster in the graveyard." Now targeting Aster, Flame Wingman released fire from his demonic arm, causing Aster to wince from the fire.
Aster: 8000 - 7200 LP
"What do you know? Turns out the pro took the first blow!" insulted Chazz, as Jaden ended his turn.
Hand 3
"Lucky Shot, my turn. I draw!" Aster draws.
Hand 6
"I play the spell card Polymerization! Just like you, I fuse Avian and Burstinatrix from my hand to fusion summon Elemental HERO Phoenix Enforcer! (Atk: 2100 Def: 1200)" Phoenix Enforcer appears on the field.
"So this is Phoenix Enforcer!" Jaden said ecstatically. "Talk about cool!"
"Battle, Phoenix Enforcer attack his Flame Wingman!" Rushing forward, Phoenix Enforcer held an orb with swirling clolors merged together before throwing it at Flame Wingman, who retaliated by shooting out flames. The orb of energy struck the flames causing an explosion, which destroyed Flame Wingman.
'Battle Protection is never relevant, unless your name is Spirit Reaper. It's contrive at best, if your opponent doesn't run removal.' Red Hat thought.
Jaden smiled at the battle. "Not bad, Aster."
Smirking, Aster nodded. "I should warn you, though... You don't have a chance at winning this duel."
"What do you mean?" Jaden asked.
"Simple, there's something significantly different between you and I, even though we're both HERO users."
"A difference between you and me?" question Jaden, not understanding what he was implying.
Aster closed his eyes smirking. "You'll understand it soon enough. I end my turn." Aster ends his turn.
Hand 3
"It's my turn, I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 4
"I play the spell card Fusion Recovery! With this, I can add back Elemental HERO Avian and Polyermization from my graveyard to my hand." Jaden added back his cards. "I play Polymerization. I fuse Elemental HERO Avian, Sparkman, and Bubbleman from my hand to fusion summon, Elemental HERO Tempest! (Atk: 2800 Def: 2800)" Tempest appears onto the field. "Battle, Tempest attack Phoenix Enforcer! Glider Strike!" Releasing a cry, Tempest targetd Phoenix Enforcer and fired an electrical blast from his charged-up gauntlet, forcing Phoenix Enforcer to defend himself.
Aster: 7200 - 6500 LP
'Is that your intention Jaden? Slowly chipping away at his LP? That never works in the long run. Unless...' Red Hat mentally chuckled. 'You want HERO's to battle each other. While that's all fine and dandy, that doesn't translate well into this game if it means getting the upper hand of your opponent.'
"Last up, I play the continuous spell Mirage of Nightmare! With that, I end my turn." Jaden ends his turn.
Hand 0
"It's my turn, I draw!" Aster draws.
Hand 4
"Mirage of Nightmare effect now activates. During your standby phase I get to draw until I have 4 cards in my hand. Then, during my standby phase I have to discard the same amount of cards I drew." explained Jaden as he drew his cards.
"Unless you have a plan, that won't do you much good. In any case, I think I'll call out yet another HERO, as well. I play the spell card Polymerization!" Aster said. "I fuse Phoenix Enforcer on my field with Sparkman in my hand. To fusion summon, Elemental HERO Shining Phoenix Enforcer! (Atk: 2500 Def: 2100)" The amored HERO emerges onto the field. "Shining Phoenix Enforcer effect. He gains 300 attack points for every Elemental HERO in my graveyard. I count five monsters, so that's 1500 more attack points!" (Atk: 2500 - 4000 Def: 2100)
'A more literal battle of HEROs then an actual duel eh?' Red Hat thought as he obersved their plays.
"Battle, Shining Phoenix Enforcer attack! Shimmer Kick!" Rishing high in the air, Shining Phoenix Enforcer's leg shined with power before drop kicking downwards onto Tempest's abdomen, destroying him.
Jaden: 8000 - 6800 LP
"Lastly, I'll place one card facedown and end my turn." Aster ends his turn.
Hand 1
"It's my turn, I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 5
"I chain the quick play spell from my hand, Emergency Provisions! I send Mirage of Nightmare to the graveyard and regain 1000 LP!" Jaden says as Mirage disappears from his field before it's effect could activate.
Jaden: 6800 - 7800 LP
"Pretty sweet huh? Next I play the spell card Miracle Fusion! I banish fusion material monsters from my field or graveyard to fusion summon an Elemental HERO. I banish Sparkman and Flame Winmgman from my graveyard to fusion summon, Elemental HERO Shining Flare Wingman! (Atk: 2500 Def: 2100)" Shining Flare Wingman apears onto the field. "Shining Flare Wingman's effect, he gains 300 attack points for every Elemental HERO in my graveyard!" (Atk: 2500 - 3700 Def: 2100)
"Called out your Shining Flare Wingman, which rivals my Shining Phoenix Enforcer, have you?" Aster questioned, with a smug look on his face. "And yet, my Shining Phoenix Enforcer has the higher attack!"
Jaden smirked. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Aster. My stategy is not done yet. I play the equip spell Light Laser! I can only equip this spell to a light warrior type monster, which my Shining Flare Wingman just so happens to be one." A handle appeared in Shining Flare Wingman's hand. "Now, when ever my Shining Flare Wingman attacks a monster, that monster is banished."
'You do realize it's at the end of the damage step, right? It's not like it's D.D. Warrior Lady like effect where it's after damage calculation. Your monster will be destroyed and it won't activate.' Red Hat observed.
"Next, I activate the field spell, Skyscrapper!" yelled Jaden, causing the entire field to transform into a city-like enviroment with tall skyscraper buildings towering over them. "Now, when aan Elemental HERO battles a stronger monster, it gains a 1000 attack boost!"
'What a contrive way to beat over, big beaters.' Red Hat chuckled. 'Guess it sticks to the theme of heroes fighting each other.'
"Battle, Shining Flare Wingman attack! (Atk: 3700 - 4700 Def: 2100)" Shining Flare Wingman flew up in the air and towards Shining Phoenix Enforcer as he unleashed his laser from his weapon.
"Alright fine! We'll go out with a band!" hollered Aster, commanding Shining Phoenix Enforcer to retaliate. Shining Phoenix Enforcer flew up and landed a hit on Shining Flare Wingman as he slashed him with the Light Laser. Next moment, an explosion appeared and Shining Phoenix Enforcer got banished.
Aster: 6500 - 5800 LP
Alexis had a smile on her face. "He did it, he defeated Shining Phoenix Enforcer!"
'That's one way to do it.' Red Hat thought.
With Shining Flare Wingman's task complete, he flew back to Jaden's side. "This sure is fun, Aster! I never seen an exciting scene like this before, where heroes are ducking it out with each other!"
Aster gritted his teeth in anger. "Did you say 'fun'? Don't make me laugh, Jaden! A fate in which heroes can't help but fight is never something enjoyable! Do you even understand the weight of the cross that a hero is burdened with, that suffering and hatred, Jaden?!"
Red Hat raised and eye brow. 'Just what are you on about? We aren't really supposed to be heroes.'
"Suffering and hatred?" questioned Jaden.
Aster sighed. "That's the strength that supports a hero! A guy like you, using Heroes just because of their looks and because they're your favorites, makes me sick!"
"What do you mean?" Jaden asked, not understanding what he was saying.
"In order to live, I need them - the true Heroes!"
"The true heroes?" Jaden wondered.
Irritated, Aster continued. "At this moment, the wheel of destiny had begun to spin! I activate the trap card D - Time! When an Elemental HERO of mine leaves the field, I can add a new monster with a level lower then the one that left the field, from my deck to my hand! The monster I'm adding is known as a Destiny HERO!"
"Destiny HERO?!" gasped Jaden, unsure what those monsters are.
"What are those?!" Chazz asked.
"I never heard of heroes like that, soldier." replied Hassleberry.
"Bastion?" Syrus questoned.
Bastion shook his head. "Don't look at me."
"Red Hat?" Syrus asked again.
"I don't have a clue, if I did, I would have told you about them ahead of time." He replied with a distain look.
"Jaden, you're unaware of the true power of the Elemental HERO's." Aster said.
"The true power of the Elemental HEROs?" Jaden questioned.
"That's right. The power of evolution that lies dormant within... Taking that form are the D - series of HERO's! Destiny, destroy, and death... They are new heroes who are ahead of the E-HEROs in all of those regards. They are the D - series!"
Grunting Jaden ended his turn.
Hand 1
"It's my turn, I draw!" Aster draws.
Hand 3
"Now I activate the field spell Clock Tower Prison!" All around the field, the skyscraper scattered as clock towers sprung up in their place, overshadowing the two duelists as it turned from daylight to nighttime around now.
"This is a new battlefield where the D-HEROs will flurish! Now, turn, hands of fate! Engrave the hour of destiny!" The huge clock reverted counterclockwise until it reached midnight. As soon as it did, the clouds evaporated, revealing a mysterius monster on top of the clock tower. "Come out, Destiny HERO Doom Lord! (Atk: 600 Def: 800)"
"So that's a Destiny HERO?" Jaden muttered.
"Doom Lord, activate your effect! Impending Doom Grip!" Leaping from the clock tower, Doom Lord flew towards Shining Flare Wingman gripped his throat. "Be gone! Shining Flare Wingman!" Soon Shining Flare Wingman vanished and dropping his equipped weapon, which was destroyed.
"Shining Flare Wingman... he's gone..." Jaden observed.
"It's Doom Lord's effect, which, once per turn I can banish one monster on your field for two turns. However, the turn I use this effect, I can not declare an attack." explained Aster. "Lastly, I'll end my turn with a facedown." Aster ends his turn.
Hand 0
"I'm super excited now! My turn, I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 2
"At this moment, the effect of my Clocktower Prison activates. Each time my opponent's standy phase arrives, the Clocktower's hands spin! In a more literal sense, a clock counter!" The clock's hands began to spin clockwise until it reached 3' o clock.
"The clock tower's hands just landed at 3:00. Wonder what happens if Aster stalls long enough?" Red Hat observed.
"Jaden, the countdown of destiny has already started. You can no longer escape from your fate of defeat!" Aster proclaimed.
"Fate? I don't believe in stuff like that. The future's something you always cut open yourself, don't you think?" Jaden replied.
"Well then, I assume you'll try opening it?" challenaged Aster.
"Anyway, it's still my turn. I summon Wroughtweiler in attack mode! (Atk: 800 Def: 1200)" The mechanical dog leapt onto the field. "Battle, Wroughtweiler attack Doom Lord!" Trotting towards Doom Lord, Wroughtweiler lept off the ground and tackled Doom Lord down, biting onto a part of his body and destroying him.
Aster: 5800 - 5600 LP
"Go trap card, Destiny Signal!" Aster shouted as a familiar signal beam appeared and a big letter D appeared in the sky, resembling Jaden's Hero Signal trap card.
"That's real original." Jaden muttered.
"I heard that!" Aster shouted, insulted. "When a monster I control is destroyed by battle, I can special summon a level 4 or lower Destiny HERO monster from my hand or deck. I special summon from my deck, Destiny HERO Captain Tenacious! (Atk: 800 Def: 800)" A muscular man with orange hair, green armored legs and large broad shield like blades on his arm emerges. "Of course, he has an effect too, but you'll have to wait until next turn."
"Guess I end my turn." Jaden ends his turn.
Hand 1
"It's my turn, I draw!" Aster draws.
Hand 1
"Now, Captain Tenacious effect activates. When a Destiny HERO monster I control was destroyed by battle last turn. I special summon that monster during my standby phase!" The moment aster he said that, a gear apeared and began to spin counter clockwise. Then moments later, a light appeared and Doom Lord returned to the field. (Atk: 600 Def: 800)
'A slow revival effect? So far, from what I'm seeing, Destiny HERO's effects seem random. The stats don't help either, even if it's meant for control.' Red Hat though as he observed the effect the njew Destiny HERO's had.
"First I play the spell Pot of Greed! Do I really have to tell you what it does?" Aster says smugly as he drew his cards. "I summon Destiny HERO Diamond Dude! (Atk: 1400 Def: 1600)" A warrior monster that had grey hair, black clothe, a green cape, diamonds on his legs, arm shoulders and back a vizer of diamonds covering his face emerged on the field. "Now I activate Diamond Dude's effect, once per turn, I get to check the top card of my deck, and if I happen to find a normal spell card, it goes to my graveyard, but if it's not, then it goes to the bottom of my deck." Aster drew his next card and looked at it. He then showed it with a smirk on his face. "Well would you look at that, it's the spell card Destiny Draw!. So now it goes to my graveyard, but then it will activate from my graveyard during my next main phase."
"So you can use spells in the grave with that effect. So depending on the circumstance, this should be a sight to behold." Red Hat commented.
"Not only that, a spell card that activates from the graveyard would spell trouble. Since most activate while on the field. The card activates from the graveyard, you can't negate it with other spells, traps, and monster effects." Bastion explains.
'So awkward rulings... This is something that's worth looking into.' Red Hat smiled and lightly chuckled. 'Aster, looks like I'll be doing some homework, thanks to you.'
"Battle, Diamond Dude attack his mechanical dog!" Diamond dude held out hisleft arm and winds formed around it before he rammed the large diamond sticking over his hand into Wroughtweiler, destroying it.
Jaden: 7800 - 7200 LP
"Wroughtweler's effect. When he's destroyed in battle, I can add back a Polymerization and an Elemental HERO from my graveyard to my hand." Jaden said as he added back Poly and Bubbleman.
"I still have attacks left! Catpain Tenacious and Doom Lord attack Jaden directly!" Captain Tenacious slammed the Slifer Red with his shield-like gautlets, sending him sliding across the ground. Doom Lord then leaped forward and clawed Jaden before leaping back.
Jaden: 7200 - 6400 - 5800 LP
"I set one card facedown and end my turn." Aster ends his turn.
Hand 0
"It's my turn, I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 4
"Not yet!" Aster reminded as his clock tower struck 6 o'clock. "I have two clock counters!"
"I summon Elemental HERO Bubbleman in attack mode! (Atk: 800 Def: 1200)" Bubbleman appears on the field. "Next up, I play the equip spell Bubble Blaster to give him an extra 800 attack points! (Atk: 800 - 1600 Def: 1200)" A blaster appears which Bubbleman took hold of. "Battle, Bubbleman attack Captain Tenacious! Bubble Barrage!" Bubbleman fires a blast of water from it's blaster.
"How naive, Jaden. I activate the trap card D- Shield!" shouted Aster. As the blasted reached Captain Tenacious, it was blocked by a shield. "When a Destiny HERO monster is targeted for an attack, it's switched to defense mode and it's equiped with it. Now, Captain Tenacious can't be destroyed in battle!" (Atk: 800 Def: 800)
Red Hat raised an eye brow. 'So far it's all battle related. Last duel, Aster played removal and burn damage. This time it's just battle. Did he knew, Jaden rarely plays removal? Or both of you have bricked, or are you just messing with Jaden? I really don't know anymore.'
"I end my turn." Jaden ends his turn.
Hand 2
"My turn, I draw!" Aster draws.
Hand 1
"And now, my Shining Flare Wingman is back!" Jaden reminded as his Shining Flare Wingman returned to his side of the field magically. (Atk: 2500 - 3400 Def: 2100)
"Now, it's time to activate my Destiny Draw from my graveyard. Now, normally I'd have to discard a Destiny HERO monster to activate effect, which would then allow me to draw 2 cards. However, since I'm activating the effect from the grave because it was sent there by Diamond Dude, I don't have to pay any cost. So, I don't have to discard a Destiny HERO monster. Activating certains spell cards in the grave also ignores activation requirements. Granted not all cards can be activated from the grave because of Diamond Dude." Aster explained as he drew his cards with no cost.
"It also ignores cost of cards? Very interesting. So that means cards with heavy cost like Lightning Vortex, Final Destiny, even silly cards like Ojama Delta Huricane, not only do you bypass from paying the cost, you also bypass the requirements needed to use the spell in the first place." Red Hat awknowledged. "Now this is exciting to figure out more. A lot of new posibilities."
"Hey Red Hat, who's side are you on?" Syrus questioned with a irriated look.
"Yeah, don't give your enemy props, soldier!" Hasslebery stated, with an angry look.
Red Hat sweat dropped. "You guys are hopeless."
"Ignoring the praise from my spectator, look what I just drew." Aster turns around oone of his cards. "It's the spell card known as Misfortune. I'll activate it right away! By giving up my battle phase this turn, I target a monster on your field, you take burn damage equal to half of your monster's original attack point! I choose your Shining Flare Wingman!" Radiating a bright aura, Shining Flare Wingman unleashed a lightning bolt of light at Aster, who was protected by a barrier that reflected the blast straight at Jaden.
Jaden: 5800 - 4550 LP
"You turned him against me!" Jaden cried out.
'I'm guessing Aster is just trolling Jaden. Why else is he taking so long to make plays where he has the resources besides burn.' Red Hat thought, observing that Aster had been playing less optimally then last time. He believed Aster was holding back or he was waiting for something.
"There's more!" added Aster. "Remember Doom Lord's effect? Well, he's about to cut your little reunion short by activating his effect again. Banish that Shining Flare Wingman again, Doom Lord! Impending Doom Grip!" Doom Lord gripped Shining Flare Wingman in the same manner as it vanished. "Don't think for a second I'm done. I'll activate Diamond Dude's effect again. I check the top card of my deck. If it's a normal spell, well, you already know!" Aster drew his card and smiled. "What do you know, it's Magical Stone Excavation! I'll send it to my gravyard to activate it next turn. Now, I end my turn." Aster ends is turn.
Hand 2
Meanwhile in Sartorius room. He has been observing the duel the entire time with his visions. "Struggle, struggle on, Jaden. You're defeat has already been decided..."
Sartorius picks upone of his tarot cards and smiles. "However, so long as Aster battles you and goes on to further heights... the more you struggle, the more you will refine Aster. And, when you are defeated... my powers, resting in Aster's deck, will guide your destiny!"
Sartorius rises from his seat and smirks. "You will become my servent, and together, we will walk along the path of light!"
He then picks up another card, while frowning, keeps his smirk. "And when he does, I'll find 'The Devil' and eliminate him. You can't hide from me forever."
Back at the Duel Arena
"It's my turn, I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 3
"Did you forget my Clock Tower Prison's effect? Another clock counter!" said Aster as the clock turned into 9 o'clock and started chiming. "It's 9 o'clock. The countdown to your defeat is almost over! No matter much you try to struggle, it's all powerless when faced with determined destiny!"
Jaden grinned. "Awesome! Your D-Heroes are so awesome! Hard to think that guys like these were in a HERO deck! They've been an obstacle for me this whole time! But still, once I see your D-Heroes, it's like the image of a new Hero comes to my mind, too!"
"A new hero, is it? Aside from my D-Heroes, such a thing doesn't exist on this earth!" said Aster. "The D-Heroes are their ultimate forms, and they surpass the strenght that the E-Heroes possess!"
"Really? I mean, there's D's and E's, and I feel like there's more out there." replied Jaden.
'To be fair, Aster and many pros have no say what cards get made. That's all up to Industrial Illusions. Who knows, they can make more E HEROs and D HEROs. Even if new D HEROs can only be used by Aster.' Red Hat thought.
"Battle, Bubbleman attack Doom Lord! Bubble Barrage!" Bubbleman fires another shot from hsi blaster and landed a clean shot at Doom Lord.
Aster: 5600 - 4600 LP
"Your efforts are wasted. Captain Tenacious effect will acivate again!" said Aster. "No matter how many times you try, he'll resurrect Doom Lord!"
"I end my turn." Jaden ends his turn.
Hand 3
"My turn, I draw!" Aster draws.
Hand 3
"Captain Tenacious' effect activates and revives Doom Lord! (Atk: 600 Def: 800)" Doom Lord remerges back on the field. "Now I use the effect of Magical Stone Excavation! Normally, I'd have to discard two cards from my hand to activate it. However, now I don't have to do that. The effect allows me to add a spell card from my graveyard to my hand. I'll choose to add back my Pot of Greed!" Aster adds back his card. "Now I'll use the spell once more to draw two more cards." Aster draws his cards.
"Ignoring cost to effects. So cards with insane activation requirments or paying a cost will be ignored. Say Bastion, you think you can use Diamond Dude to cheat out that Water Dragon you have? Since it's summoning is completely ridiculous having to use that bricky spell card." Red Hat explained to Bastion.
Bastion sweat dropped, unsure what he was sugguesting. "I don't I'll be able to test it out."
"You two spectators are out of your minds if you think I'm allowing Diamond Dude to be used by anyone else!" sapped Aster. "I drew this spell card, Destiny Draw! I'll play it right away, by discarding a Destiny HERO monster, I can draw two cards!" Aster discards a Destiny HERO and draws his cards. "Now, Doom Lord activate your effect and banish that Bubbleman! Impending Doom Grip!" Doom Lord grips Bubbleman and banished him, as his blaster fell and got destroyed.
'So far, all you're doing is stalling. Are you waiting for Clock Tower Prison?' Red Hat thought.
"I set one card facedown and end my turn." Aster ends his turn.
Hand 4
'Why didn't he use Diamond Dude's effect? Unless he has everythinghe needs?' Red Hat thought.
"It's my turn, I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 4
"At this moment, Clock Tower Prison's effect activates! The 4th Clock Counter!" interrupted Aster as the clock tower struck at midnight, starting all over the process. The field soon began to be distorted for a few seconds.
Jaden took a look at his hand. "I play the spell Polymerization! I fuse Elemental HERO Necroshade and Elemental HERO Wildheart from my hand to fusion summon, Elemental HERO Necroid Shamen! (Atk: 1900 Def: 1800)" Necroid Shamen appears on the field.
"Called out another E - HERO huh? However, the power of the E - HEROs is useless before the D - HEROs!" Aster said with a smirk.
"When Necroid Shamen is special summoned, I get to target one monster you control, I destroy it, then I get to special summon a monster from your graveyard. So goodbye Captain Tenacious, and I force you to special summon Avian! (Atk: 1000 Def: 1000)" Necroid Shamen created a chant and soon, Captain Tenacious disappeared and in it's place Avian emerged on the field.
"Atta boy! Excellent maneuver there, soldier!" complimented Hassleberry.
"Rather contrive, but for what it is, it works I guess. Still, Zaborg is better though." Red Hat added.
"Battle, Necroid Shamen attack Doom Lord!" Necroid Shamen jumped high in the air before pummeling down, swinging his weapon downwards at Doom Lord, destroying him. As the explosion occured, Aster was protected by an invinible barrier, shielding his LP.
"What a shame. No matter what kind of attack you try firing my way, you won't be able to change your destiny of defeat!" said Aster. "The field spell, Clock Tower Prison effect is active. While it has 4 clock counters on it. All battle damage I take becomes zero!"
"I set a facedown and end my turn." Jaden ends his turn.
Hand 1
"Without removal, this has already begun to be an annoyance. This is why spell and trap removal is important everyone." Red Hat reminded.
"It's my turn, I draw!" Aster draws.
Hand 5
"I'm well aware, your Shining Flare Wingman returns, so don't remind me." Shining Flare Wingman returns to Jaden's field. (Atk: 2500 - 4000 Def: 2100) "Now I activate the trap card, Ring of Destruction! I target your Shining Flare Wingman! Now we both take damage equal to your monster's attack which is 4000 in this case!" A ring loaded with grenades spun arund and flew towards the hero.
"Not happening, I activate the quick play spell De-Fusion! I return Shinning Flare Wingman back to the extra deck! Sure I won't get back his materials back on the field, but I'm now safe from the ring!" Shining Flare Wingman disappears as the ring misses it's target.
"That all? Very well then, I end my turn." Aster ends his turn.
Hand 5
"It's my turn, I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 2
"I play the spell card, Pot of Averice! I shuffle back 5 monsters in my graveyard back into my deck and extra deck, I shuffle, then I draw 2 cards." Jaden shuffles back Necroshade, Wildheart, Avian, and Burstinatrix back into his deck, while shuffling Tempest back into his extra deck. He shuffles his deck, before drawing his cards. "I play the spell, Pot of Greed. So I draw 2 more cards." Jaden draws his cards. "I play the field spell, Fusion Gate! Now, I can fuse monsters without using Polymerization, by banishing them from my field or hand! And, because this is a new field spell, it cancels out your Clock Tower field spell!"
Smirking as the clock tower began crumbling from a sudden earthquake occuring all over the field because of Jaden's actions. Aster shouted. "Jaden, I was waiting for this moment!"
"Huh?" Jaden said, surprised.
"When Clock Tower Prison is destroyed, a new Destiny HERO, one that has been imprisoned in it, will be released! And now, come out Destiny HERO Dreadmaster! (Atk: ? Def: ?)" The clock tower crumbled, but soaring out from the rubble and dust was a giant muscular man, he had a metal mask covering his face, long black hair, scars all over the top part of his body. He had a locket with a D shaped keyhole around his neck in large chain. He also had torn purple pants and broken chains on his arms and legs.
"When Dreadmaster is summomed, it destroys all non-Destiny HERO monsters on my field and I'm able to special summon up to two Destiny HERO monsters that are in my graveyard! Dread Master is a D-HERO who has continued to be imprisoned in the Clock Tower for a long time. It's abilities, which are sustained by it's hatred, are in a different league compared to the other D-HEROs!" Roaring loudly, Dreadmaster's powers were so strong, he summoned poweful winds that blocked out obstacles in his way and destoryed Elemental HERO Avian on Aster's field.
"I revive Doom Lord and Captain Tenacious! (Atk: 600 Def: 800) (Atk: 800 Def: 800)" Captain Tenacious and Doom Lord returned to the field. "One more thing! Dreadmaster's attack and defense points are equal to the comined attack points of every Destiny HERO in the field! (Atk: ? - 2800 Def: ? - 2800)"
"But, that powerful effect of yours will be your weakness!" Jaden said as he continued. "I use Fusion Gate's effect! I fuse Clayman and King of the Swamp to fusion summon, Elemental HERO Thunder Giant! (Atk: 2400 Def: 1500)" Thunder Giant appears fromt the portal of Fusion Gate. "I'll use his effect, by discarding one card, I can target and destroy one monster whose original attack points is lower then his own! So Diamonde Dude, you're out of here! Static Blast!" Thunder Giant summoned a bolt of lighting to target Diamond Dude, only for his attack to be defended by Dreadmaster, who protected Diamond Dude.
"During the turn Dreadmaster is summoned by the effect of Clock Tower Prison, all my Destiny HERO's can not be destroyed by battle or by card effects. In addition, I take no battle damage from battles involving them!" Aster explained. "It's hopeless, your assessment was overly optimistic, Jaden. You certainly are a duelist with good skills. However, you just can't defeat me! That's because you don't have something that I have!"
"Something I don't have?" Jaden repeated, rather annoyed.
"A reason to long for heroes! I'll use the power of these D-HEROs to seak my revenge on the one who killed my father!"
"Revenge?" Jaden repeated shocked.
Red Hat paid closer attention what Aster was about to say. 'What are you on about? Also, taking revenge for your father?' Red Hat then thought about something else. 'Looks like you had a better family then I did, least at one point. At least I hope so.' He thought.
"My father was a Card Designer for Industrial Ilusions company, the one that has created Duel Monsters. A father I looked up to, who designed many great monsters." Aster closed his eyes and had a solemn look on his face. "But one day..."
Flashback
Inside a certain open window of an appartment. A young Aster could be seen waling through a room. When he got to the work place. Not only did he saw many cards on the floor, some of them being cards related to the D-HEROs. The young Aster saw his father lying on the floor, lifelessly.
'My father was attacked by someone... and lost his life...'
The young Aster then took the card that was in his fater's grip. When he took the card, which revealed to be Destiny HERO Dreadmaster. He began to cry, now understanding that his father was long gone.
Flashback end
Jaden looked at him, eyes widened in shock. "No way... W-wait, so then, your father..."
Aster looked at his deck. "That's right. The last cards that my father created... They were the D-series of HEROs... The very power that my father gave me! At one point, I also believed in the power of justice, just as you do. That's why I kept waiting for that criminal to be caught!"
Aster looked at Jaden with pure rage in his eyes. "And for all that, in the end, nothing at all came of it, much less the criminal getting caught! And that's why I swore in my heart that I would become the hero who find that criminal! That, if he won't be brought to justice in the public world... I'll use the power of the D-HEROs to bring him to justice in the undergorund world! And I became a pro duelist! To take parts in numerous battles across the world and locate the criminal! The criminal who killed my father is the only one who holds a card that's the only one of it's kind in the world." Aster tightens his fist. "I won't let that criminal get away with it! No, all of those who commit evil with unconcern!"
The rest of the gorup remained silent after Aster explained his story.
Red Hat was deep in thought at a few things he said. 'You dedicated your life in the pros... Just to find a specific criminal.' He then thought about another thing he said. 'Where I live, what you say is true in some cases. There is no justice for gangs and violent thugs. They always get away with things if not taken down. It's why I never believed justice comes for you in those situations. Especially if the city security doesn't care.' He then thought on something. 'Then what does that make me then? Do I want to go pro just for glory, a quest, or other benifits of myself?' He thought, now not being so sure now.
Jaden felt sorry for Aster, but while his actions helped others, and his reasons made sense. What he felt Aster was doing was wrong. "But still, using the Heroes that your father left behind as a tool for revenge?"
"Don't talk as if you understand, Jaden!" snapped Aster. "It makes me sick to see a guy like you using HEROs just because they're your favorites! I need them in order to defeat him! The true Heroes that give me power!"
"It's my turn, I draw!" Aster draws.
Hand 6
"This duel is over, Jaden!" Aster shouted. At the moment, Bubbleman return to Jaden's side of the field. (Atk: 800 Def: 1200)
"Hold on, I still got plenty of monsters and life points left." Jaden reminded him.
"You think that matters!? Remember the monster I tossed away with Destiny Draw? The monster I discarded was a special monster known as Destiny HERO Malicious! While he's in the graveyard, his effect allow me to banish him to special summon another copy of himself from my deck! Appear the second Destiny HERO Malicious! (Atk: 800 Def: 800)" A brown looking dark hero with brown demon-like wings, had horns on his head, and two sperate looking tails behind him.
"Now, time to call for my most powerful monster! I tribute Destiny HERO Malicious, Doom Lord and Captain Tenacious to special summon, Destiny HERO Dogma! (Atk: 3400 Def: 2400)" As the three monsters disappeared, out came out a monster with wings. It had black armor and a helmet. It had blades in the armor on it's arms.
"A monster with 3400 attack points!?" Jaden gasped.
"Don't think I'm done! I banish the second Malicious from my graveyard to special summon my third Malicious from my deck! (Atk: 800 Def: 800)" The final Malicious appeared on the field. "I tribiute the Malicious to tribute summon, Destiny HERO Dasher! (Atk: 2100 Def: 1000)" A purple fully armored HERO with wheels on it's lower legs appeared on the field. "Now, I have more then enough attack power to finish you off! Thanks to Dreadmaster gaining all those attack points! (Atk: ? - 6900 Def: 6900)"
"This is not good. Aster saved all his resources for this final attack." Red Hat point out.
"Battle, Diamond Dude attack his Bubbleman!" Diamond Dude charged and pulverized Bubbleman and destroyed him.
Jaden: 4550 - 3950 LP
"Dasher, attack his Necroid Shamen!" Dasher rushed towards Necroid Shamen and jumped up before hitting him with a powerful kick, and destroying him.
Jaden: 3950 - 3750 LP
"Dogma, attack his Thunder Giant! Chronicle Blow!" Dogma readied his blade and flew towards Thunder Giant, impaling him with it's blade and destroying him.
Jaden: 3750 - 2750 LP
"This is how little you matter to me, Jaden! Dreadmaster, attack him directly! Predator of Dreadnaught!" A purple aura appears around Dreadmaster's card before it's eyes and body began to glow purple.
At that same moment in Sartorious room. His hand also glowed purple and radiate power. Signaling he was about to do.
"Jaden, your destiny had fallen right into my hands!" Sartorius said with a smirk. He then saw the shadow of 'the devil'. "You can't stop this either, 'devil'. You have failed to stop my influence."
Back at the arena. Dreadmaster jumped towards JAden and landed in front of him. Jaden took a step back to see the huge monster in front of him. Dreadmaster then rammed both of hs fists and slammed them directly at Jaden. Jaden stumbled after being hit by the D - HERO.
Jaden: 2750 - 0 LP
Satisfied with the outcome of the duel. Aster turned around and began to leave. "Told you, you can't hide from Destiny. Begone, you runt."
Sweat trailed down Jaden's cheek before collapsing as his LP was depleted. He trembled in pain. The last thing he saw was his cards turning blank.
"He lost!" The group yelled out.
Soon, cards scrattered from his deck and scrambling towards the floor as Jaden fell unconcious.
"Jaden no!" Red Hat stood up and jumped off the the stands and ran close to him. "Jaden are you alright!?" When Jaden didn't answer, he knew he was unconcious. But, why though? This shouldn't have happened no matter how strong you beat your opponents. Something didn't sit well with him.
Soon his duel spirit friend reappeared. 'A malicious force has entered your friend's body. I don't kow what it is, but you can't help him on this matter.'
"What do you mean?" Red Hat asked her.
'That last card that was played. It contained a malicious force. This duel was design to destroy your friend's spirit. I can't pin point this force without it destrying me.' She said before disappearing.
"I see..." Now, Red Hat was worried. Just what was Aussa talking about? Why did she had to be so vague? What did Aster do to Jaden. He wanted to believe this was his fault, but he had no proof of this. From what the he observed from the duel. It was like Aster wasn't even aware of what he was doing.
Soon the others caught up with him. "What are you waiting for, soldier? Get the Sarge to the medical bay!" Hassleberry stated.
Red Hat nodded. "I'll carrying him over there. Alexis, Bastion you two collect Jaden's cards and bring them to us."
They nodded and began picking up Jaden's cards that were scattered around. Red Hat carried Jaden on his back ad hurrried to get to the infirmary.
'What did Aster do to you, Jaden?'
A/N: Duel was edited to match the real cards. There was illegal moves in the actual duel, and small details there were not brought up. Some weren't listed here, but that cause I think you all get the point.
As for that detail with Aster and HEROs. I really hate when the anime thinks only one player can play 'insert this specific strategy' only or else you're are copying them. Considering, this goes against the entire idea on how card game meta actually is. There's going to be many decks that will have a similar strategy, design, or build. This is just the anime's excuse so it can show off and promote as many new cards as possible. Even if many of them will never be printed without massive buffs and changes.
Anyway, that's all for now. I'll see you soon in the next chapter.
