Society of Light Takeover
A/N: The setting is slightly different and things will be derailing from the anime at various intervals. Hope you don't mind the changes. Hope it meets up to standard.
Slifer Red Dorm
It was early in the morning at the Slifer Red Dorm, with Red Hat wide awake and sitting down behind the dorm. Staring off into the deep blue sea. For some reason, he was unable to properly sleep. He was glad that their dorm was safe and Jaden has fully returned. While he should be able to rest easy. For some reason, he was unable to to. Something was very wrong out there and he couldn't figure out what it was. Ignoring his own predicament that he was facing.
'Something the matter?' His duel spirit partner, Aussa asked. No quite understanding why he would be awake so early.
"I don't understand." He simply said, continuing to stare off into the sea as the waves gently crashed the clifslide. "Something is wrong here. The way Chazz is acting, Jaden getting some sort of new purpose, the light of destruction phenomeon. Why is all of this happening, and who is pulling the strings?"
'I can't answer that...' Aussa replied, adjusting her glasses and at down with him. 'I know something is amiss on this island, but it hasn't taken action yet.'
"Then what your saying, the real bad news hasn't happened just yet. And this was all just a distraction?" He answered, confused at what she was implying.
'I can't know for sure, but it's best to keep your guard up.' She replied as she teleported back to the spirit realm.
He took a sharp look at his left and right before he slumpt forward and began falling alseep. 'I hate when she's so vauge. Why can't she answer me directly?' He thought, before passing out.
Meanwhile at the Obelisk Blue Boys Dorm
Some of the Obelisk Blue boys were standing around in the hall of their dorm,taking it easy. Then all of a sudden, they all looked towards the door when they heard it being opened violently. The one who came in was none other then Chazz Princeton.
One of Chazz's former cronies raised an eye brow when they saw him standing there. "Chazz, what are you doing here? And what's with your white uniform?"
"I thought you dropped out into Slifer Red, but your uniform is white and not red?" Another one of Chazz's former cronies added.
Chaz chuckled as he placed a duel disk on his arm. "This is the white uniform that symbolizes the holy light. You should take off those pale-as-a-hourse uniforms and step into a world of pure white."
One of Chazz's former cronies looked at him with angry eyes. "What?! Blue is the pride of us elites!"
"Are you making fun of us elites when you fell to red?!"
Chazz laughed like crazy when he heard that. "How petty! So petty! You see, we of the Society of Light are an organization that influences the world! You will all enter the Society of Light, as well!"
"Ha! No way! You clearly lost it!" Chazz's former cronie replied.
"In that case, duel with me. If you do, you are sure to understand the brilliance of the Soicety of Light." Chazz replied, unfazed by their comments.
"Don't make jokes here! Is there a reason that we blue students would lose to you?!" The group of Obelisk began to laugh at Chazz.
Chazz, unfazed by their mockery just smirks at them. "I take it you accept the duel, then?"
"An elite's word is their bond!"
Chazz activated his duel disk in response. "Your wheel of fate have begun to turn!" The Obelisks took a step back as they prepared to duel Chazz. "We're dueling!" Then a few moments later, an enormous explosion happened and the last Obelisk collapsed. Chazz chuckled as he deactivated his duel disk for the time being. "Now then, let me welcome you all to the Society of Light.
It only took a short while before Chazz reactivated his duel disk and began dueling any other Obelisk Blue that he and his new henchman could fine. Dueling them, beating them, and turning thm into his new followers of the Society of Light. Some Obelisk that tried to leave were caught by the henchman and were forced to duel Chazz, turning them into new members of the Society of Light. Two Obelisk Blues on the other hand took notice of this.
"I'm not likeing this. Just what is going on here?" One of said Obelisk Blues was Syun.
"I don't want to stick around here any longer." replied his friend, Jamie. "Let's head to the back and get out from the windows, while they're distracted."
Syun nodded and glared at the situation. "Let's get out here. This isn't normal."
The two lone Obelisk Blues leave through the back side of the dorm, opening a window and escaping the place. They ignored the continued screaming of many of their fellow Obelisk Blues and closed the windows, making their escape into the forest, going around the dorm to head towards the academy building.
Main Academy Building
Dr. Crowler was walking down the hallway of the Academy building, making his way to the classroom he was about to teach. Looking forward to another day of teaching his so-called 'precious' students.
"I look forward to this... My fun lezione starts right now..." He humed as he entered the classroom. When he entered the classroom, he was startled at what he just saw. The entire class was filled with Slifer Red and Ra Yellow's, but no Obelisk Blue student was seen inside the classroom.
"What's the meaning of this?! The blues... a-are not here, are they?! There are only Ra Yellows and Slifer Slackers are here..." He said with a look of disappointment and disbelief. "Oh, just where in the world could my Obelisk Blue students have gone?"
Meanwhile at Slifer Red
As Red Hat continued to sleeppeacefuly, still outside and behind the dorm. He was being shaken by Jaden, withhis friends standing next to him.
"Hey, Red Hat! Wake up already buddy!" Jaden called out as she shook him with a bit more force.
Red Hat began to stir and soon woke up at the sound of Jaden's voice. He yawn and stetched his arms and legs. "Jaden... how long was I sleeping out here?"
"Why would you be sleeping out here?" Alexis asked with a narrowed loo n her face. "It's not like you to sleep out here. Did you wake up early and fell back alseep out here?"
Red Hat chuckled and stood up. "I couldn't sleep so I went out to get some fresh air. Was thinking a lot about recent events. Guess I was so tired I fell back asleep out here."
Bastion couldn't help but laugh at the situation. "Well, how about you head to your room next time okay? We thought you left or something, since we didn't find you in your room."
"I'll be sure to do that next time I decide to come out ehre for some fresh air." Red Hat replied.
As they were about to leave the area, they were interrupted whe someone cried out to them. They took a look where they heard the voice and saw Jasmine and Mindy coming towards them with worried expressions on their faces.
Alexis walked towards the two of them while the others followered close behind her. "What's the matter you two?"
Jasmine and Mindy stoppedto catch their breath, and then the two of them spoke up. "Alexis, something happened at Obelisk Blue!"
Alexis looked shocked. "What did you say?" She looked at the others and all of them nodded. "We were distracted by the Slifer Red mess, but didn't keep an eye on anything else. We should go now." The group began to run towards the Obelisk dorm. Red Hat hoped nothing bad was happening.
Obelisk Blue Dorm
The gang then stopped in front of the Obelisk dorm. All of themm stopped in their tracks and covered their eyes at the intense luster that was shining in front of them. "The Blue Dorm, it's-" As they opened their eyes slowly, they saw that the Obelisk dorm had been painted completely white.
Roaming around the white dorm, the grou spooted an injured Atticus on the ground before rushing to his aid. "Atticus! Are you alright!" cried out Alexis, arriving at his side first and pulling him into her arms while Jasmine and Mindy knelt besides him.
"Yeah..." groaned Atticus. "Alexis, I tried to stop Chazz and the others from dying the dorm white... but this all happened."
Looking up, Jaden, Syrus, Hassleberry, Bastion and Red Hat was surprised to see the true ringleader behind it all; sitting in a throne held up by his followers. "What's with them?" commented Jaden.
"Chazz? You did all of this?" wondered Red Hat, both confused and surprised Chazz would go this far to do anything.
Just seeing Chazz sitting in a throne like king reminded Alexis about his previous, arrogant behavior back when he was an Obelisk Blue. "You've got to be kidding me..."
"It's good to be the Chazz! And that's just the start!" said Chazz. "Cause soon, I'll see to it that the entire world sees the light!"
"ALL HAIL THE SOCIETY OF LIGHT! ALL HAIL THE CHAZZ!" cheered the newest memebers of the Society of Light; whom the members gathered together to worship not only their organization, but Chazz as well.
Chcuckling, Chazz appreciated the efforts of is men. "Yes, that's right. I was ordered by Master Sartorius to dye Duel Academy in white... making me the Emissary of the Light!"
"ALL HAIL THE CHAZZ! ALL HAIL MASTER SARTORIOUS!"
"Sartorius?" Alexis repeated, curious on who he is.
"Wait, Sartorius? Isn't that Aster's manager?" wondered Jaden, recalling Aster mentioning about his manager before.
"Being a manager in his alias!" called out Chazz. "Master Sartorus is the one that should govern this world! He is the great leader of our Society of Light!"
"What do you think Chazz is talking about?" Alexis asked in confusion.
"I ain't got a clue." Hassleberry commented.
Caling out to Chazz, Jaden shouted. "Hey, Chazz! You all right? Should I call Miss Fontaine from the infirmary?"
The ridiculous question Jaden yelled caused everyone to sweatdrop and fall down. Getting back up, Chazz yelled. "There's nothing wrong with me! It's you yet-unawakened one that have a problem! I'll prove it to you! With my dueling, that is!"
"Fine by me! I'll take you down!" Red Hat spoke up as he took a step forward.
Chazz glared and thrust his arm forward to stop him. "Wrong! Master Sartorius gave me strict orders to not enage The Devil! The last thing we need is to deal with a devil's advocate!"
"I have no idea what you're even taling about." He replied with a questionable look on his face. "And why are you all of a sudden, calling me a devil? Not like it matters to me anyway."
Chazz huffed, maintaining his glare. "I wouldn't expect a follower of the devil, to understand."
Alexis stood up, now glaring at Chazz. "If that's how it's going to be. Then, I'll be the one to duel you, Chazz! After all, this is an issue within the Obelisk Blues."
"Alexis, let me do it." Mindy insisted.
"No, I'll go and..." Jasmine insisted before Alexis stopped her.
"No. I'm going." Alexis replied stubbornly.
"Alexis, be careful." said Atticus, slowly recovering himself as he sat up. "These Blue students were all challenged to a duel by Chazz and lost. That's why they became pure white."
Despite her friends' warnings, Alexis still wasn't going to back down. "I'll be fine, brother. Are you fine with me, Chazz?"
"That's fine by me, Alexis." answered Chazz. "I was hoping to make sure you experience the brilliance of the Society of Light."
As the the gang walked to the Main Academy building with all the newly formed Society of Light memebers. Red Hat stayed behind after walking around with the gang for a short bit. Before ditching the main group and the Society of Light memebers as he ran back to the former blue dorm. His left arm began pulsating within him, causing some discomfort. Signaling that something was calling for him in some matter.
'Why is my arm pulsating? It's never done this before...' He thought, clutching his arm in a vain attempt to alleviate his discomfort. The last thing he needed was for anyone to notice his cursed mark.
When he took a look around, he believed that there was nothing ahppening. That is, until he saw a bright light glow above him. He lowered his hat to cover himself from the intense light. Once it subsided, he took a look and noticed another monster spirit in front of him. This monster spirit looked familiar to him.
"Huh? Archlord Zerato?!" Red Hat wondered, staring down at the duel monster spirit that materialized in front of him. "What do you want?!"
"To destroy the one that will bring evil to our world." replied the duel spirit in a cold voice.
"Just what are you talking about?" Red Hat questioned, not understanding what he meant by destroying evil tat he was claiming. He couldn't possibly refer to him, can he?
"With the power of the light, I shawl vanquish the one that works for the king of the underworld." Zerato stated as he drew his blade out.
'Watch out! He's fully materialized into your world!' warned Aussa as she appeared next to her parter. 'He's being influenced by the light of destruction, but he isn't being controled by it.'
"Influenced by the light? You don't mean the same light that possessed Chazz and the others?" wondered Red Hat.
'It's the same power. Only, he's here to destroy you. Not to make you join the light. It has no intention of forcing you to join against your will.' Aussa pointed out, ready to protect her partner, even if it were to be in vain.
"Like I'd join those nutcases anyway!" Red Hat replied, stepping forward to face off his new enemy. "I don't know what the light has told you, but I'm not going to go down without a fight!" He declared as he readied his duel disk and placed his 'special' deck n the slot.
"Working with demons? Now you must be destroyed!" shouted Zerato as his blade soon transformed into a duel disk.
"Fine, I'll take you one!" Red Hat declared as he moved into position away from the dorm and readied his duel disk.
'Be careful. Something is wrong here.' Aussa acknowledged.
"Okay, I'll try and not get myself into trouble." He replied as his duel disk activated, only for his mark to glow black and pulsate.
DUEL
Red Hat: 8000 LP
Archlord Zerato: 8000 LP
"I'll start first, draw!" Zerato draws.
Hand 6
"I set a monster, then I play the field spell The Sanctuary in the Sky!" The field was replaced by a floor of clouds, and a white stone palace appeared right behind the duel spirit. "Whie this card remains on the field. we take no battle damage involving fairy type monsters. Although, a devil like you has no such cards."
"I get the point, wise guy." Red Hat groaned, getting rather sick of being called a devil. What imposed these spirits and people caling him that all of a sudden.
"I'll spare you for now, by ending my turn." Zerato ends his turn.
Hand 4
"Its go time! I draw!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 6
'Okay, this could prove helpful for later.' He thought as he observed his hand. "I summon Zure, Knight of Dark World! (Atk: 1800 Def: 1500)" A fiend with a grey skin, grey armor and a dark cloak emerged, wielding a long sword. "Battle, Zura attack that facedown monster!" Zure swung it's sword at the facedown, revealing it to be Nova Summoner. (Atk: 1400 Def: 800)
"When Nova Summoner is destroyed, I can special summon a light fairy from deck with 1500 or fewer attack points. Since I have The Sanctuary in the Sky out on the field, I can special summon Airknight Parshath instead! (Atk: 1900 Def: 1400)" A centaur like creature with a white lower half. He was wearing a blue and gold armor that was decorated with white feathers, and had a green shield on one arm, and a sword on the other.
"Tch, I remember using that card long ago. Sad, he's not good anymore." Red Hat commented, remembering he used to use that card for it's abilities back in the day.
"A devil like you is unworthy to use his power." Zerato shot back.
"I set one card facedown and end my turn." Red Hat ends his turn.
Hand 4
"My turn, draw!" Zerato draws.
Hand 5
"I summon The Agent of Creation - Venus in attack mode! (Atk: 1600 Def: 0)" A blonde woman appeared onto the field. She wore dark yellow dress with a tint of white on her sleeves, had a sort of pendent around her neck, wore silver wristbands, and had bright yellow angel wings. "Her effect activates. I can pay 500 LP to special summon a Mystic Shine Ball from my deck. I'll use the effect three times and summon them in defense mode! (Atk: 500 Def: 500 X3)" Venus began a chant as three glowing orbs around her began to radiate power. Soon, three clear shine balls emerged onto the field and glowed with energy.
Archlord Zerato: 8000 - 6500 LP
"Battle, Parshath attack his Zure!" The cenaur gallaoped and swung it's sword at the fiend and sliced it in two, destryoing him.
Red Hat: 8000 - 7900 LP
"When Parshath deal battle damage to you, I get to draw one card!" Zerato explained as he drew his card. "Venus attack him directly!" Venus began a chant and fired three lasers blast from the three orbs she controlled. The blast collided with Red Hat knocking him down.
Red Hat: 7900 - 6300 LP
Red Hat slowly stood up, panting from the last attack. "What was that? I actually felt that? Is this a Shadow Duel?" He wondered.
"Wrong, both the mark on your wrist and the power of the light are colliding with each other. Thanks to that new found power you obtained. When you duel someone with the power of light or darkness. All damage becomes real and all parties involed suffer." Zerato explained. "You won't escape this battle alive. The light despises the darkness, it hates followers of evil like yourself."
"Gve me a break... I never chosed to follow any sort of power. It was forced upon me. This mark only serves as a reminder that I'm being used as a tool." Red Hat shot back, regaining his balance.
"Once a pawn, always a pawn. I set one card facedown and end my turn." Zerato ends his turn.
Hand 4
"Fine then, I draw!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 5
"I play the spell card Dark World Dealings! With this card, we both draw 1 card, then we discard one card." Both of them drew their card and they discarded one card. Red Hat discarded a pticular monster. "The card I discarded was the monster known as Goldd Wu-lLord of Dark World! (Atk: 2300 Def: 1400)" A big beatial fiend wearing gold armor with horns protruding off the shoulders, what looked like curved wings on the back and spikes o the gauntlets appeared onto the field. It carried a large axe in it's hands.
"Dark World fiends... How quaint, teaming up with some of the most destructive fiends." Zerato commented.
"Keep talking wise guy. I summon, the second copy of Zure, Knight of Dark World! (Atk: 1800 Def: 1500)" The second Zure appeared onto the field. "Battle, Zure attack Agent of Creation Venus!" The fiendish knight swung it's sword at Venus, slicing her in half and destroyed her. "Now, Goldd attack his Parshath!" The fiend in golden armor leapt into the air, hlding his axe over his head and swung down at the centuar warrior, destroying it.
"Okay, almost got you down... huh?" Red Hat was interrupted when he saw a powerful light rain down on the field, only to hear the Archlord laughing.
"Fool! By destroying two of my monsters in battle, you allowed me to summon my ultimate weapon! Come forth Tualatin! (Atk: 2800 Def: 2500)" A mechanical angel descended down in a pillar of light. It wore heavy armor all around it's body with it's arms covered in armor and six golden orbs wre located around it's armor. The monster stared down at Red Hat and it's red eyes glared at him as it radiated a powerful aura.
"What is that thing..." He replied as he clutched his now pulsating wrist. "Why is the mark reacting to that monster."
Aussa reappeared next to him. 'That angel is powered by the light of destruction. That's angel's rival is Van'Dalgyon, a powerful dark dragon lord. With that thing on the field, you're in a huge disadvantage.'
"That spirit is correct. When you destroyed two monsters on my field by battle and sent to the graveyard. I can special summon this card during your battle phase. If summoned this way, I can declare an attribute. All monsters of the selcted attribute are destroyed and you can not summon monsters of that attribute! I choose the dark attribute! Both monsters are destroyed!" The mechanical angel charged it's beam from all six of it's orbs and fired a gold laser blast, destroying both monsters.
Red Hat covered his face from the blast. 'Then some duelist wonder why I prefer to destroy cards by card effects. That way, scenarios like this don't happen. There's no one to blame but myself for being so reckless.' He thought, staring down the new monster. "I set one card facedown and end my turn." Red Hat ends his turn.
Hand 2
"Your destruction draws near! Draw!" Zerato draws.
Hand 4
"I tribute the two Shine Balls to tribute summon, Athena! (Atk: 2600 Def: 800)" A silvered haired woman with a spear and shield appeared. Her dress she wore was completely white. I'll use her effect, once per turn, by sending a fairy-type monster from my field to the graveyard, I can special summon a fairy type monster from my graveyard! I send my last Mystic Shine Ball on my field to special summon Airknight Parshath! (Atk: 1900 Def: 1400) Parshath reemerges onto the field. "Athena's effect activates! When a fairy monster is summoned, you take 600 damage!" Athena pointed her spear towards Red Hat and shot a golden energy beam at him, making him cry out.
"Don't I didn't catch this, I play the trap card, Bottomless Trap Hole! Parshath is now banished!" An endless trap hole opened opened up and the kngiht fell to his doom before the hole closed back up.
Red Hat: 6300 - 5700 LP
"You're completely defenseless! Tualatin, show that devil who's has true power!" The mechincal fairy began to charge up it's lasers from it's orbs and launched them.
"Go trap card, Mirror Force! You're monsters in attack mode are destroyed!" Red Hat revealed his trap as abbarier appeared in front of him.
"Not happening you fool! I activate the counter trap, Seven Tools of the Bandit! By paying 1000 LP, your trap card is negated and destroyed!" As the counter trap was revealed, the holy barrier was shattered and Tualatin continued it's assault.
Archlord Zerato: 6500 - 5500 LP
Red Hat: 5700 - 2900 LP
Red Hat stuggles to stay up from the assault. 'I can't keep taking hits. I refuse to lose.' He thought, staing down at both of monsters.
"Athena, attack this devil directly!" Athena pointed her spear towards Red Hat and shot a golden energy beam at him, making him cry out and knocked him off his feet.
Red Hat: 2900 - 300 LP
Red Hat layed on the ground, injured from the onslaught. Slowly, he stood right back. Struggling to stay standing, panting. "I will not go down by the likes of you..." He wheezed, coughing in response.
Zerato scofed at his claim. "You can barely stand mortal. This duel will end in your demise."
Red Hat then thought about something, before replying. "If I lose this duel... Will I become like... them?"
"Wrong! You losing this duel, means you'll be elimiated! The light can not stand your existence. Light and Darkness can not co-exist in the same realm. You are the one that uses Chaos. An abomination that light and darkness despises." The Archlord sneered
Panting, Red Hat glared at the out of contro duel spirit. "All of these name I keep getting. I really don't care what people call me." He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before staring down at him again. "I know for certain. I'm no Hero, and I don't intend to be a Hero. That doesn't mean I'm going to let others walk over me! I take down those that are or become my enemy! A duel spirit like yourself is no different!"
"Such pitiful words coming from a mortal puppet of the Dark Ruler." The Archlord said in amusement. "I end my turn."
Hand 3
"I won't be pushed around... Boku no turn!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 3
"I play the spell card Graceful Charity! I draw 3 cards, then I discard 2!" Red at drew his cards and took a look at them. He discard two copies of Broww, Huntsman of Dark World and his graveyard lit up. "The effect of Broww activates from the graveyard! When he's discarded by a card effect, I'm allowed to draw 1 card! Since two copies were discarded, I draw 2 cards instead!" Red Hat draw his cards. Aussa soon appeared next to him, trying to calm him down. 'Aussa? What brings you here?'
'Calm down my friend. Don't let him raddle you.' She replied with a narrowed look. 'Light and Dark are not absolute, or all black and white. One force is not only evil or only good. Both sides have their opposites.'
"How am I suposed to stop his power? Does it also apply to other way around or it said forces are fighting each other?" He asked.
'You should be able to tell which forces are either god or evil by their actions. That's all I can tell you.' She said before she disappeared.
'Why must you be so vague?' He thought before he continued his turn. "I set a monster and set two cards facedown and end my turn." Red Hat ends his turn.
Hand 2
"The end draws near. I draw!" Zerato draws.
Hand 4
"I play my own Graceful Charity! I draw 3 cards then I discard two." He drew his cards and discarded The Agent of Judgment - Saturn and Beckoning Light "Now I summon Radient Jeral in attack mode! (Atk: 1000 Def: 2000)" A blue statue-like fairy with blue wings emerged onto the field. Athena effect now does burn damage! This is the end of you!" Athena's effect activates again! When a fairy-type monster is summoned, you take 600 damage!" Athena pointed her spear towards Red Hat and shot out a golden energy beam at Red Hat, only this time, he was ready.
"If you think I'm letting you strike me with burn twice, then you're out of your mind! Go trap card, Pikeru's Circle of Enchantment! All effect damage I take this turn becomes 0!" Pikeru appeared on the field and created a circler barrier around herself and Red Hat. The barrier blocked off the energy from Athena's attack. Pikeru remained on the field, doing her best to support her user.
'Thank you... Pikeru...' Red Hat thought with a faint smile.
"Stalling are you? No matter, you're still out matched! I use Athena's effect, by sending Radiant Jeral to the grave I can special summon a fairy-type monster! Appear, The Agent of Judgment - Saturn! (Atk: 2400 Def: 0)" A purple fairy descended from the sky, onto the field. It's skin was pure purple, wore a white and purple dress with a gold rhobe and a red crystal on it's chest. Wore purple gloves and a matching hat to it's dressing. The agent glared at his opponent. "Radient Heral's effect allows me to gain 1000 LP when he's sent to the graveyard while The Sanctuary in the Sky is on the field!"
Archlord Zerato: 5500 - 6500 LP
"Life point gains means nothing in the grand scheme of things." Red Hat commented.
"It's time to battle! Athena attack his facedown monster!" Athena pointed her spear at the facedown monster and fired another golden energy beam at it, revealing it to be Morphing Jar. (Atk: 700 Def: 600)
"Morphing Jar's effect activates! Since he was flipped, we discard our hands and we redraw five new cards!" Both of them discarded their entire hands as they redrew five new cards as Morphing Jar was destroyed. That's when Red Hat's graveyard began to glow. "Two of my cards were Dark World monsters, Ceruli, Guru of Dark World and Kahkki, Guerilla of Dark World! First i use Kahkki effect, since he was discarded by an effect, he can destroy one monster on the field! The monster I choose is obviously Tualatin!" A cylinder like fiend monster with a small blade appeared and swung it's blade at the giant mechanical fairy, destroying it.
"Why you little! Fiends always up to their old tricks!" The Archlord sneered.
"The's one effect. Now, Ceruli's effect activates! Since he was discarded by a card effect, he get's special summoned to your field!" Ceruli emerges via a dark mist to the Archlords field.
"It's still my turn and you dare give me a fiend monster?" The Archlord questioned.
"That's the point! His other effect now triggers. When he's special summoned by the effect of a Dark World card, which includes his own effect, then the opponent must discard one card. Since it's on your field, I'm the one who has to discard." Red Hat smirks as he discards a paticular card. "The card I discard was a monster known as Reign-Beaux, Overlord of Dark World! Ifhe was discarded by an opponent's card effect, I can special summon him from the grave. Appear Reign-Beaux! (Atk: 2500 Def: 1800)" The overlord emerged onto the field "Now for his effect, if he was special summoned this way, he can destroy all monsters or all spell and traps you control. In this case, all your monsters!" Reign-Beaux conjured dark energy from his staff and fired a powerful beam at the Archlord's monsters, causing an explosion and destroyed all of his monsters.
"No! You can't get away with this!" The Archlord sneered.
"I just did. All your monsters are destroyed and the effect damage I would have taken is null and void." Red Hat pointed out.
"If you won't go down, then I'll take you down myself! Thanks to my new hand, I'll play the spell card Monster Reborn to special summon Warrior of Zera from my graveyard! (Atk: 1600 Def: 1600)" The warrior emerged onto the field. "But he won't stay for long, as I tribute him to special summon." He soon began laughing as the card was shown. "Archlord Zerato! (Atk: 2800 Def: 2300)" The Archlord disappeared from the field and reappeared in the monster zone. "Behold, now I can destroy you personally!"
'What is it with duel spirits summoning themselves onto the field?' He thought, wondering if this was their way of fighting despite their forms being outside their realms.
"Since my battle phase is over. I set one card facedown and end my turn." Zerato ends his turn.
Soon Piker let's go of her barrier and disappeared, knowing her job was completed.
Hand 2
"I won't faulter to the likes of you! Boku no turn!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 5
"I play the spell card Card Destruction! Now we discard our entire hand and redraw the same number cards!" Red Hat discarded his hand and redrew five new cards. Meanwhile, the Archlord redrew two new cards from the cards he discarded. Red Hat's graveyard began to glow again. "I activate serval effects from my graveyard! First I'll activate the effects of Silva, Warlord of Darkword; Goldd, Wu-lord of Dark World; and Beiige, Vanguard of Dark World! If they're sent to the graveyard by a card effect, I can special summon! Appear you three! (Atk: 2300 Def: 1400 X2) (Atk: 1600 Def: 1300)" A Muscular human-like fiend wearing bits of armor that looked like as if itwas made of bone and holding a spear in it's hands appeared next to Goldd. Silva emerged last and it wore silver armor and carried a large sword instead.
"I'm not impressed, mortal! They're power doesn't come close to defeating me!"
"I'm not done! I use Kahkki effect from the graveyard again! NowI can destroy a monster on the field! So you're getting destroyed!" Kahkki emerged from behind the Archlord, only for him to begin laughing.
"Such tactics don't work twice! I activate the counter trap, Divine Wrath! By discarding one card, your monster's effect is negated and destroyed!" As the archlord discarded a card, powerful blast of holy light struct down the small fiends as it disintegrated from the field. "Foolsih mortal! You were planning to destroy me with your fiends so you can attack and finish me off! It failed and I still overpower you!"
Red Hat gritted his teeth. "Grr, didn't think you'd counter that. I set two cards facedown and end my turn!" Red Hat ends his turn.
Hand 2
"It's now the end of you! Draw!" Zerato draws.
Hand 2
"Go trap card, Drop Off! Since you drew a card, you immediately have to discard it!" Red Hat declared, interrupting his turn.
"You think it will matter?" The Archlord replied as he discarded his card. "I discard a light monster so I can destroy all monsters you control! Be gone!" He discarded Guardian Angel Joan and the palace began to shine like a becon.
"Not so fast! Go quick play spell Mystical Space Typhoon! With this, your Sanctuary in the Sky field spell is destroyed!" Powerful winds destroyed the field spell card, and soon the Sanctuary began collapsing. "Without that field spell, you're effect can not resolve!"
"No!" The becon was unable to fire as the sanctuary began collapsing behind him, returning the field back to normal. "I had enough, die!" Zerato flew up and his wings beagn to glow before he sent glowing feathers towards Beiige.
"Go trap card, Dimension Wall! You take the battle damage I would have recived!" Red Hat declared as the trap was revealed, creating a mirror as Beiige was destroyed, causing the Archlord to take damgae and looses flight once his attack reached the mirroed wall.
Archlord Zerato: 6500 - 5300 LP
"Argh! Damn you! To be fooled by the likes of you!" He sneered, realizing his mistake. "No matter, none of your monsters can destroy me! You've already lost this duel! I end my turn!" Zerato ends his turn.
Hand 0
"Don't be so sure, I draw!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 3
"I play the spell card Dark World Dealings! We both draw a card then discard a card! Since you have no cards, the card you draw get's immediately discarded!" The Archlord glares as he drew his card, only for it to be discarded. Red Hat drew his card and discarded a the third copy of Broww. "Broww's effect activates, allowing to draw a card since he was discarded by a card effect!" Red Hat drew his card and smiled.
"What are you smiling about?" The Archlord questioned.
"This card, the equip spell card Megamorph! I equip it to Reign-Beaux, and since my Lp is much lower then yours, his attack points are double!" Reign-Beaux grows stronger and becomes larger then normal (Atk: 2500 - 5000 Def: 1800)
"This can't be!"
"It can be! Battle, Reign-Beaux attack Archlord Zerato!" The large fiend launches multiple black beams from his staff and hits Zerato with an explosion, causing him to scream.
Archlord Zerato: 5300 - 3100 LP
"No! I won't go down like this! I refuse to lose to the darkness!" The Archlord screamed as his form was removed from the field as he was pushed back.
"You lose! Silva and Goldd attack the light agent Archlord Zerato directly, Dark World Lightning!" Both demons conjured dark purple lightning from their respective weapons and launched it directly at the Archlord.
Archlord Zerato: 3100 - 800 - 0 LP
"I can't be destroyed by the likes of you! I refuse! I'll just have to kill you right away!" The Archlord sneered as he tried to get back up and fight directy as he was losing energy.
Red Hat's mark contined to pulsate. "You won't get away! Finish him!" The fiends did as he commanded and launched another blast of lightning at the Archlord, fully destroying him and the corrupted light that possessed him, which Red Hat took notice of. Once the spirit disappeared and the fiends disappeared from site. Red Hat fell to his knees, panting hard and feeling exhausted.
"Just what was that all about? Why am I being attack by duel spirits all of a sudden? How can I do all of that just now?" He question to practically nobody, hoping Aussa would fill him in... She didn't appear and there was no response. "Just great... Why can I do this... Is it because of that strange light I saw which caused the curse mark to start pulsating on my arm? Just what does this curse actually do?"
While he was conflicted with all of the events that were currently going on. He heard footsteps from behind him. As if by instinct, get stood back and turned around with his duel disk ready to duel again.
"Woah! Calm down there man." Two Obelisk Blue boys, who weren't wearing the white uniform, apporached him with one of them took a step back and held his aems forward. Upon further examination, Red Hat took noticed that it was the same Obelisk Blue he dueled before; Jamie and Syun.
"What are you even doing all the way here? What happened to you? Why do you look so exhausted right now?" Jamie asked, wondering what could have possibly happen to make the cap wearing Slifer Red all exhausted and winded.
"If I told you, you wouldn't believe me..." Red Hat replied, still panting from his previous duel.
"Didn't you get the memo? Alexis Rhodes is dueling the out of control Chazz at the Obelisk Duel arena!" Syun ponited out. "We got to hurry up, something isn't right here!"
"How did you guys not get possessed by Chazz anyway?" Red Hat questioned. He assumed every single Obelisk Blue had been possessed, yet these two were perfectly fine. Did they escape?
"We'll dicuss this later. Think you can manage or should we help you?" Jamie wondered, know Red Hat was currently very tired over what ever trival manner he was up to.
Red Hat responded with a chuckle. "I'm not in pain. I may be tired, but that doesn't mean I can't walk or run. Let's hurry to the duel arena, but I would like an explanation later." He said as he began to run, albeit a lot more slower then usual.
"We will eventually." replied Syun as the trio began to make their way to the academy bulding and reach the duel arena. Unbekleidetst to them, things were not going well. If anything, things were about to take a turn for the worst.
Meanwhile in Sartorius' Room
Shuffling and scrambling his tarot cards around in his own table. Sartorius tried to find the solution as to how his future prediction on Aster beating Jaden could have failed. To make matters worse, the devil that he was so desperate to get rid of was making his move. Why couldn't he locate him? Was his identity masked that much? Impossible!
'Jaden Yuki...' thought Sartorius, narrowing his eyes. 'For him to defeat Aster Phoenix... There's o way he could have done that on his own. Someone else is involved.'
A slight, small noise caught his attention as he spotted two cards having fallen out of the fray; The upright Heirophant and The Devil card being shown sideways.
"The upright Heirophant! It refers to a character who will be of use. Does this mean that it is Jaden Yuki and not Aster Phoenix that I need?" He then looked at the other card the fell and glared. "The Devil being sideways... Thats the sign that he's gaining control of the situation! I can't allow him to interfere with my plans! How is it my messengers of light can't stop him!"
He continued to shuffle around his Tarot cards, trying to calm himself down and revealed two cards; The Empress and The Hangman, both of which were upright. Sartorius chuckled when he saw this. "So my puppet will gain control of the Empress. Much to say, the devil is too late and the fool is completely helpless."
Obelisk Duel Arena
Red Hat was running as fast as he could to make it to the duel arena. Despite his best efforts, there were times that he nearly collapsed by how exhausted he was. Had it not been for Jamie and Syun helping him out. He surly would have fallen flat on his face outside or even inside the buildig.
"Take it easy, man! It's no use going in such a rush if you collapse!" Jamie acknowledged.
"Almost there, just be careful!" warned Syun.
The trio eventually made to the duel arena. Needless to say, they were to late. Red Hat observed the field and much to say, it was looking pretty bad. Chazz with Armed Dragon LV10 coated in what seem to be a shining white veil attacked Alexis's monster. Alexis was unable to activate her backrow. Red Hat must have asummed that Chazz had something to prevent her from activating her cards.
In the end it didn't matter, the attack was successful and Alexis lost what little remaining LP she had left. Red Hat couldn't believe what he just saw. Alexis lost to Chazz, the same guy who could barely duel against him or Jaden. Yet, he won. Something didn't sit well with him.
'It's happening. The light has taken over your friend by losing to a puppet of the light.' Aussa explained and pointed out.
"Now all of a sudden you tell me?" Red Hat replied with a glare. Why was she so hesitent on explaining things to him. "So if someone possessed by the light loses a duel, they become corrupted by the light?"
"Who are you talking to?" Syun asked, believing Red Hat was going mad.
"No one."
Red Hat run up close to the field were Alexis was in. Jaden and the gang, along with Atticus, Jasmine and Mindy approached the down Alexis. Some of the group glared at Red Hat, since he was no where in sight the entire time. All while, Jaden and Bastion wondered where he could have gone, worried that something happened to him.
"Where have you been? We thought you got attacked or something." Bastion asked, wondering what could have happened.
"If I told you, you wouldn't believe me." Red Hat give them the exact same response.
"Hey man, I'm all ears. Anything can happen" Jaden insisted.
They were then interrupted by Chazz walking close to Alexis. "It was decided before we began this duel that this moment would come. Nothing could be done about it by the human will. That's what you call 'Destiny!'"
"Shut your trap, Chazz!" Red Hat shot back.
Chazz snickered. "Enjoyed our little surprise, you devil? How you survived was questioable, but once again you were too late!"
"Why you little..."
"Alexis!" Atticus called out to her. "You fought admirably until the bitter end, Alexis! You're my pride and joy!"
"Don't feel bad about it!" Jaden quiped. "I knew you could crush that destiny of his with your strong free will!"
Alexis soon was able to stand up. "Alexis?" Atticus questined, since Alexis had yet to respond to their comments.
"Don't worry about me, brother. I won't be changed by anyone. I had a magificent experience." She responded, albeit with a more monotone voice. This shocked the other, now knowing what really happened to their friend. Alexis then walked over to Chazz's side. "Magnificent... So, I was able to receive the baptism of the Society of Light, as well?"
Chazz nodded. "So you have. I'm happy that you finally see it that way, Alexis." Chazz hen began laughing.
"What happened back there?" Jaden wondered.
Red Hat without responding turned his back and began walking away. "Hey! Where are you going, Red Hat?" Bastion asked, hoping he wouldn't do something so rash.
"Anywhere..." He replied flattly, leaving the arean. Jamie and Syun attempted to stop him, but Red Hat refused.
As he continued to walk away from the academy building, returning to the Silfer Red dorm so he could rest up. He noticed he was being followed by the same Obelisk Blues. Thinking now was a good enough time for them to explain themselves, he stopped dead in his tracks.
"Mind telling me why you two are following me?"
"What happened back there? You looked disapointed back there. Just what is going on?" Syun asked, wondering if Red Hat knew anything at the situation at hand.
"Until I can find evidence of the situation, the most I can say is this; everyone that lost to Chazz have been possessed and have joined a cult. You seen what happened to Alexis and the rest of the Obelisk Blues." He explained, not even bothering to turn around.
"How can that be though? While we have seen that with our own eyes back in our dorm, but how can that even happen?" asked Jamie. Finding it very hard to believe one gets possessed by a simple duel.
"I don't know, but I'll say this. You best do yourselves a favor and avoid that dorm. You'll most likely be taken control as well."
"Just where are we supposed to go to? It's not like we can return to back to our dorm without turning into one of those guys." Syun pointed out.
"You may not like it, but you may as well stay at the Ra Yellow dorm and don't announce yourselves." Red Hat simply said.
"Not like we got a choice do we? We'll try not to get ourselves into trouble. Mathew tends to be with Craig have the time." Jamie replied.
"If something happens, we'll come to you. We hope you have something planned in the future. The school can't stay like this." Syun mentioned as the Obelisk duo made their way to the Ra dorm.
'I don't get those two...' He thought as he retreated to his dorm and layed down on his bed, completely awake and starring at the bunk bed. He had no idea what to do. Just what was going on? Who was sending him duel spirits possessed by the so called light? Was it possible for him to free those guys? Was there an end? He had no real answers to any of his questioned.
Despite trying his best notto exhaustion caused him to collapsed and fall alseep. His duel spirit friends started to watch over him.
'Why won't you tell him the complete situation and answer at hand, my friend?' asked Wynn, finding it rather odd that her friend would be so secretive about this matter.
'I can't just tell him all at once. If I did, he would become impaient and rush into battles lika a rabid dog. He still has't learned the value of other people for me to fully explain his situation.' Aussa explained, defending her stance.
'I don't see why that's a bad thing?' Hiita quiped as she appeared right beside them. 'I would like nothing more then for our ally to give them a piece of his mind!'
'You know fully well that's not what he wants.' Eria scolded her hot-headed friend. 'He knows better then to engage out of spite and anger. Or have you forgotten about that curse mark of his?'
'Says the girl who lost her familiar' Hitta teased only for Eria to fume.
'That's enough from the both of you!' Aussa snapped. 'Listen, until he realizes what he has to learn, I can't tell him yet. Only then will I be able to trust him on this matter of freeing people from the light using his cursed mark.'
'Still, we can't ignore the fact, that if he uses that power, he come closer to the berserk state. Which is what the Dark Ruler wants. To create total chaos.' Wynn pointed out.
'If it comes to that, I'll take responsibility for that. After all, I'm his partner and I won't let that happen to him.' Aussa assured them.
'If I didn't know any better. You've grown very found of this guy.' Hiita snorted with a smirk. 'Didn't know you were into bad boys.'
'Alright, now you're just trying to tick me off.' Aussa scoffed as the other three spirits returned to their realm while she stayed behind to look after him.
One thing was certain, their problems were only going to get worse if nothing gets done.
A/N: That's it for this chapter. This was originally supposed to be posted a month ago, but had other things to take care of. Anyway, to cut down on the filler, later chapters will be more about freeing other characters while Red Hat learns the value of other people beyond his friends. Even if he has no intention of befriending them.
