Rescuing Students
It was early in the morning, as Red Hat has remained asleep for the entire day. Despite the exhaustion he had to endure yesterday, he was well rested this time around. While he wanted to stay in his bed, he knew he had to get up and start his miserable day.
"That was a nice nap..." He yawned, stretching and rubbed his eye lids. "Is it morning?'
'That is correct...' Aussa spoke up as she appeared next him. 'You passed out once you reached your room. You were exhausted from your duel and attempting to overexert yourself.'
"I see... So that's what happened..." He repeated, soon realizing something. "I should speak with Jaden and the others. They need to know what transpired last time." He got himself ready and rushed out of his room and went to Jaden's room. When he noticed the room completely baren. There's only one place they could possibly be in, that being either the Slifer Red's cafeteria or inside the academy building. 'Only one way to find out.'
As he opened the cafeteria's doors, he noticed Jaden, Syrus and Hassleberry were there eating breakfast peaceful. He noticed no other Slifer Red was inside. So, he assumed they all must of eaten already or haven't woken up yet. In some aspects, he was releved that Slifer Red, for the most part, has remained intact. 'Eating without a care in the world. Sounds about right for you three.' He chuckled as he entered.
Jaden noticed Red Hat entering. "Hay, Red Hat! Saved you a plate of breakfast over here!" He called out, which the Ra duo took noticed.
"Thanks Jaden!" He sat down next to Jaden. He slowly began eating, never caring for the fact that Slifer Red's food was always sub-par. With his very poor taste of food, and the fact he grew up with mostly instant ramen, he never seem to care about the foods quality. "Sorry about what happened yesterday."
"What happened yesterday anyway? You were so out of it last time and you immediately left after you saw what happened to Alexis." Jaden pointed out, worried about his pal's state of mind.
"I think we should talk about this in private. Only you would understand, Jaden." Red Hat replied as he cotinued eating. He noticed that someone was missing from the group. "Where's Bastion?"
"Bastion went back to his dorm and took in those two Obelisk Blue's that followed you to his dorm." answered Hassleberry.
"Those two Obelisk were Jamie and Syun, two top Obelisk Blue students." Syrus pointed out. "What did they want with you anyway? And how come they didn't become like the others?" Syrus asked, wondering what was going on between Red Hat and those two Obelisk Blues. Considering Red Hat's track record when he encounters those in Obelisk Blue.
"They told me they managed to escape, though they aren't sure if a few others managed to escape either." Red Hat answered, still feeling somewhat unsure of their situation.
"What happened to you back there, soldier?" Hassleberry asked. "You been acting very strange lately."
"I'm just a little tired is all." He replied.
"At least you've been resting." A voice came from within the kitchen. The person that came out of the curtins was none other then Dorthy. "Your friends have been woried about you."
"Am I missing something here? Since when does Dorthy cook breakfast here? Not that I mind of course, just curious." asked Red Hat.
"Ms. Dorthy is the temporary headmaster of Slifer Red for the time being." asnwered Syrus. "Since, they haven't replaced Professor Banner as the headmaster yet, Dorthy decided to step in and help us out. Professor Mimicry didn't want to stay here much longer, since he got tired of dealing with other students in other dorms."
"I see... that's good to know."
"Least you're in a more chipper mood now." Dorthy acknowledge.
"Thanks..." As they continued to eat in complete silence. Once they were fininshed. Red Hat called Jaden to come with him. Complying, Jaden followed Red Hat out of the cafeteria where the two could talk privately outside. Once they were completely alone, making sure they weren't followed, Red Hat began to speak to Jaden.
"Jaden, yesterday something else happeed when you all went to see Alexis duel Chazz, only to lose."
"What happened anyway? You mentioned you were attacked by something. Everyone noticed you looked exhausted." Jaden pointed out.
Red Hat nodded. "That's right. I was attacked by a duel spirit that was corrupted by the same power of the light, that corrupted Chazz and all the others, The light of destruction."
"The light..." Jaden thought for a moment before realizing what he meant. "You mean to say the Light of Destruction is the one that possessed Chazz and all the others that lost to him?"
"That power is what corrupted them, but I don't know who caused it. I don't even know who is causing all of this or sending the corrupted spirits." explained Red Hat. "Jaden, I think we're bing targeted and being hunted down. Not sure when we'll get attacked, or be challenged, but it's best we keep our guard up just in case."
Jaden nodded. "I get what you mean. I'll tell the others about it."
"Sarge! What are you and Red Hat talking about over there!" Hassleberry called out as he gestured them to come over, along with Syrus. "We'll be late for class if you don't hurry!"
Jaden turned around and waved at them. "I'm coming!" He turned his attention back to Red Hat. "Come on, we should get going."
"You guys go on ahead, I have some things to get first." Jaden agreed and ran off to catch up with Hassleberry and Syrus. Once they were out of sight, Red Hat quickly retreated to his room and began to take two of his decks. One of them being the same deck he used before.
'I really need to update this deck some more.' He thought as he tweaked his deck a bit more. Attempting to find ways to get the strategy going. Effect triggering by discarding by effects isn't the easiest thing to accomplish, other then a Thestalos bait target. Then again, who else besides himself plays monarchs anyway?
Once he collected his things, he exited is room and began to make his way to the main academy bulding. Hoping he wouldn't be confronted by spirits or Society of Light memebers.
Main Academy Building
Red Hat would run all the way to the Academy building. While he didn't want to go to class, the last thing he needed was letting his grades drop just because of his self-righteous nature. They now made it so passing written test and dueling test were not enough anymore. So no matter what, he can't ditch class as much as he used to. Didn't mean he can't fall sleep in classs like Jaden, right?
Once he entered the classroom, where all of his remaining friends were. He noticed that everyone that was here were just Slifer Reds and Ra Yellows. Not a single member of Obelisk White were even here. The few remaining Obelisk Blues from what he noticed were sitting in the far back. The question is, how many Obelisk Blues were left? Aside from various Obelisk Blue girls and very few Obelisk boys, the rest seem to be with the Society of Light. Something about this didn't sit well with him.
As Red Hat sat down on his usual seat, the the top of the classroom. Once he fully sat down, Professor Mimicry entered the classroom. "Attention students, Dr. Crowler will no longer be teaching you students until the situation conserning the Blue dorm is resolved. In the meanwhile I will be teaching you everything else. Those that refuse to come will be marked absent. Not sure what's gotten into all the students at the blue dorm, but it's being worked on."
Red Hat raised an eye brow. 'I refuse to believe Crowler would do anything about this. From what I've been noticing, he hasn't done anything to resolve this school's problems. Rather he reinforces those problems.' He then had another bad thought. 'Though, what has Bonaparte been up to lately? He's been awfully quiet lately.'
As the class continued, Red Hat would soon fall sleep, with Jaden soon following suit. Mimicry took notice of this, but paid no mind and continued with his usual leasons.
At the White Dorm
Chazz sat and looked at his PDA with an irritated expression. On the screen was Bonaparte, Chazz glaring at hin. "What do you mean by you can't accept the changes to the dorm?"
Bonaparte sighed. "Indeed. That shall continue to be the blue dorm, and I can not approve it as an offical dorm to the academy. Such is Temporary Chancellor Crowler's stance on the matter."
Chazz raised an eyebrow with an added glare. "Damn Temporary Chancellor Crowler..."
As Chazz stood up and walked over to his window. "Ah, wait a minute!" Bonaparte called out as Chazz turned to look at his PDA again. "It is only Temporaire Chancellor Crowler speaking as such." Bonaparte looks around the room he's in before smirking. "Approving your white dorm would not be much of a problem with me. However, there shall be one condition."
Chazz raised an eyebrow again. "What kind of condition?"
Bonapartes' smirk grew bigger. "I would like you to pulverize that atrocious Red Dorm, Jaden Yuki and that delinquent Red Hat, right into the ground."
Chazz smirked and chuckled. "I don't need you to tell me. I was plannning to crush him from the very start, after all. Jaden Yuki... That devil though, he'll be a bit tricky to get rid of. It won't be long before we show everyone the truth."
Bonaparte looked at him a little confused at what Chazz just said. "Whatever, just take down the Slifer Dorm and the white dorm will become offical."
The conversation then got cut off. Chazz looked up at the ceiling with a smirk. "Once we get rid of the red dorm, we will become an offical form at the school. Which will help spread the message of the Light even faster." He laughed to himself.
He then pressed another number, and after a few seconds Alexis' face appeared on the screen. "Alexis, if we want to make this dorm offical we need to take down those two losers at the red dorm. Which means we most likely will face Jaden and that devil. Has the master contacted you and told us it's time to go after them? He did say we should wait a little for some reason."
Alexis looked at him with a serious look. "I recently contacted him to talk to him about this matter. He said we should test to see if Jaden is a threat to him. Master Sartorius already has plans to deal with the devil at hand." With that, the call was cut off.
Chazz got a smirk on his face. As he truly believed that the slifer dorm would soon be gone for good. While the so-called devil would be a thorn on their side. He didn't have to worry about him. That was already being taken care of.
As Alexis was looking over some paper work. Her two friends Jasmine and Mindy were stadning on the railing on the second floor with Fonda Fonatine, worried about their friend. Ever since she lost to Chazz yesterday, she has not been herself. It didn't help that some girls have gone mad and join the new white. They didn't understand what was going on, and there was nothing they could do about it.
Alexis walked away from the dorm and heading off to her next destination.
Outside the Academy Building
"That was a waste of time..." Red Hat muttered to himself as he walked away from the Academy and wondered off to where ever he pleased. After class was over, he split off from Jaden and what remained of the gang to take a walk and clear his head. Just what was he supposed to do? He doesn't know how to free the students from the Light of Destruction he's been told about. It's not like he can just barge in and pick a fight with them. That would end just as badly. He was frustrated and completely stumped on what to do next.
"Just where are you going?" A familiar voice called out to him.
Red Hat turned around and came face to face with the same pigtail girl he met the other day, Maki. "No where special." He turned around to face away from her. "Why do you care anyway?"
Maki scoffed at his claim. "I legitmently don't care where you're going or what you intend to do. I just want you to answer me this question." She gave him a cold glare. "Just what has been happening around here? The guys and some of the girls in my dorm have gone insane. They became insane once Alexis and Chazz dueled them. Yet, they're talking about trying to take down that Slifer Red named Jaden Yuki and some devil in Slifer Red, who ever that is. You wouldn't know anything about that do you?"
Red Hat glanced at her before turning away. "Even if I told you. You wouldn't believe me. That's something I have to do on my own."
"With that attitude, it's no wonder no one wants to support you. I pitty you really. I'll tag along with you just to see what is going on around here." She then immediately huffed and pounted. "Don't get the wrong idea! It's not like I want to join you!"
"Keep telling youself that..." He replied without a care as he continued his walk.
The two of them continue to walk around in silence, with Maki occasionally asking where they were going or what they were doing. Red Hat of course did not answer her questions as he felt no need to answer them. He wanted to tell her to just leave him alone, but since he was already feeling mentally exhausted by what's going around. Some how, some sort of nuisance to him was a better alternitive then mentally fighting with himself. Could he even call her a nuisance? He really couldn't tell.
Obelisk Girls Dorm
After waling for some time now. Red Hat stood at the front porch of the Obelisk Girls dorm. Knowing full well he can't enter without special permission. He stood and waited around. Maki on the other hand, was seething. Why would he even come to the Obelisk Blue girls dorm?! What she doesn't know right now. Red Hat's mark was puslating the closer he got to the dorm.
'Why is my mark pulsating here? Something is off around here...' He thought as he looked around. Paying no mind to the seething Maki. 'Is my mark a becon or something? Last time I found trouble when it started to pulsate... Much to my displeasure.'
At that moment, Maki had enough and snapped. "Are you some kind of pervert?! Why are we even here?! Us girls already have to put up with the peeping Ra Yellow named Deron!"
"If you girls think I'm some pervert then you're all a lost cause." He replied, not finding worth his time to take a jab at her or the others.
"What's that supposed to mean?!" Maki said, still glaring at him. "Why else would you even come here in the first place?! Knowing full well boys are not allowed at this dorm!"
"I have my own reasons..." He replied faltly, clutching his arm to hide the fact his mark was pulsating. "You don't have to follow me. Not like I'm going anywhere past this point anyway..."
Maki pouted, still glaring at him before huffing. "Don't get the wrong idea! It's not like I wanted to follow you!"
"Keep telling yourself that..."
The duo then heard footsteps coming close to them.
"What are you doing here, devil?" A girl asked.
The two of them turned around to where the voice came from. Two former Obelisk Blue girls, now wearing the white uniform, came twords the, The both glaring daggers at Red Hat. Both girls had short brown hair, with one of them had her hair reach her shoulders.
"Maki, you should know better then to bring a guy over. Let alone a devil like him." The second girl said.
Maki blushed for a bit before seething again. "I did not bring him over! Let's make this clear, I do not like this guy and I never will!"
"Who are you two anyway?" Red Hat asked, seemingly not caring about the drama that is happening at the moment.
"Those two are Disa and Masha. They are sisters that are in the same year, though Disa is the oldest." Maki explained with a glare. "Those two are always together and they have the highest test scores and dueling record, second to Alexis Rhodes of course."
"Really now?" Red Hat muttered, seemingly not impressed with what he's facing.
"I'm taking you down this instant, devil!" Disa spoke up as she readied a duel disk. "I'll make you see the light and cleanse your soul of darkness."
Mashe walked up with her sister. "If you going to stop us Maki, then we have no choice to clense your soul so you're released from that devil's grip."
Maki looked at them with a confused look on her face. "Do you two have a screw loose or something? I don't even know what nonsense you're spouting. You two don't talk like that!"
Disa merly smiled at her. "Oh, but we do now. Alexis has shown us the way of the light. We now bask in the glory of the light!"
"You tell them, sis!" Masha added.
"This is getting us no where." Red Hat replied as he readied his duel disk. "I'll take you two down at once."
Disa chuckled as she readied her duel disk, with Masha following suit. "For a devil, you really are foolish! Think you can stop us by yourself?"
Maki sighed and reluctantly activated her duel disk to join Red Hat's side. "Don't act like you have something to prove! You can not take those two down alone. You'll be in a huge disadvantage!"
"Say the one who's willingly followed me and stepped up to the playing field." Red Hat playfully teased.
Maki blushed while keeping her glare. "Don't get the wrong idea! It's not like I want to help you!"
"Enough games, Maki! We'll make you see the error of your ways soon enough!" Disa barked at them, now fully ready tag duel, along with the others.
DUEL

"Ladies first am I right? I draw!" Disa draws.
Hand 6
"I play the spell card Foolish Burial! With this, I send a monster from my deck to the graveyard!" Disa looks through her deck and sends a paticular monster to the graveyard. "I set a monster and end my turn." Disa ends her turn.
Hand 4
"Here I go! It's my turn, I draw!" Maki draws.
Hand 6
'I'm well aware what cards she tends to send most of the time.' Maki thoguth as she observed her opponents move. "I summon Slate Warrior in attack mode! (Atk: 1900 Def: 400)" Slate Warrior emerged onto the field. "Battle, attack her facedown monster!" Slate Warrior readied it's staff and dashed at the opponent's facedown. As soon as he slammed his staff at the facedown, nothing happened as it was revealed to be Marshmallon (Atk: 300 Def: 500)
"You attacked my facedown Marshmallon! So that means' you take 1000 damage!" Disa pointed out as a shockwave was delivered to Maki, causing her to cry out.
Red Hat & Maki: 8000 - 7000 LP
"Just peachy... I set two cards facedown and end my turn" Maki ends her turn.
Hand 3
"It's my turn, I draw!" Masha draws.
Hand 6
"Disa's Treeborn Frog effect activates. Since we control no spell or traps I can special summon it to the field! (Atk: 100 Def: 100)" The frog emerged from a small puddle onto the field.
"Let me guess, you have that card in your hand already?" Maki questioned.
"You'd be correct, but first I play the quick play spell Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy that facedown card on the left!" A cyclone emerged and destroyed the left facedown card which revealed to be Sakuretsu Armor. "Now, I tribute the frog to tribute summon Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6! (Atk: 2300 Def: 1600)" A burst of black flñames appeared, from which a large metallic, bird-like creature emerged and rose onto the field.
'Horus control? That's a deck I haven't fought in a long time.' Red Hat thought as he observed the dragon. 'If our monster is destroyed, then that's bad news. This deck doesn't function without spells. The traps in this deck don't help either, since all Horus decks I've seen run Royal Decree.'
"Battle, Horus LV6 attack that Slate Warrior!" The metalic dragon reared it's head back and spat out a torrent of black flames. Maki on the other hand, was having none of this.
"If you think I'm letting that dragon evolve you're crazy! Go trap card, Ring of Destruction! This trap allows me to destroy a monster on the field and we both take damage equal to it's attack points. Although, it's not your Horus card I'm targeting!" Maki declared, confusing everyone in the duel.
"Wait... you aren't destroying my monster?" Masha asked in confusion.
"No! Of course not! I'm destroying my own monster!" The ring attached with many grenades equiped itself onto Slate Warrior and soon detonated, destroying the monster and damaging both sides.
Disa & Masha: 8000 - 6100 LP
Red Hat & Maki: 7000 - 5100 LP
"My monster may not evolve, but I can still attack you directly!" Masha pointed out as Horus continued it's attack, only it attacked her directly. However, Maki felt the pain of the dragon's flames.
Red Hat & Maki: 5100 - 2800 LP
Maki dropped to one knee after the impact. "I felt that attack? But these are just holograms!"
Disa smirked at her. "Once you see the light, you'll understand. Doesn't help that the devil is involved in this."
"Gah! I'm going to lose my mind the more you two talk like that!" Maki snapped at them, standing back up. "You made a mistake for attacking me directly!" A dark shadow emrged onto Maki's field. This cause the duo to gasped at what was being summoned.
"No way! You don't mean!" Disa spoke up, shocked at what she was seeing.
"That's right, the same card you use! Since I controled no card when I took damage, I can special summon Gorz the Emissary of Darkness! (Atk: 2700 Def: 2500)" From the pitch dark smoke, slowly rose the dark fiend carrying it's signiture blade. "Since I took battle damage, it's other effect activates, allowing me to special summon a Emissary of Darkness Token with attack and defense equal to the damage I took! Which in this case is 2300! (Atk: 2300 Def: 2300)" The light counterpart to Gorz, emerged onto the field with it's signiture sword.
"Where do you girls get such a rare card?" Red Hat asked, curious as to why these two girls have such a powerful card. A card which he faced not to long ago.
Maki glanced at him, confused as to how the so-called top duelist doesn't have such a card. "I'm more surprised you don't have this card. Yet you know about it already."
"I faced that card once back during summer vacation. The person who had it was a middle school student of all people." Red Hat replied.
Maki sweat dropped at his statement. "Out of all people to figure out this monster. A middle school student is how you found out about it?"
"Now isn't the time to discuss trivial manners..." Red Hat stated, unammused by his partner's actions.
Masha completely ignored their statements and continued her turn. "Since you both have so little LP I'll place two cards facedown and end my turn." Masha ends her turn.
Hand 2
Maki smirked at her plays. "Let me guess. Those two facedowns are My Body as a Shield and or Royal Decree?"
Masha did her best to hide her shocked expression. "Why would you think that's what I'm hiding?"
Maki continued to smirk. "What else can it be? There's only three posibilites on what you can be playing facedown. You already used MST, you don't run a lot of traps, and sometimes you even Jinzo just in case." She noted, knowing full well this was the same strategy she's been using for quite a while now.
"I'm more amazed that you analized her deck so well." Red Hat complimented.
Maki immediately huffed and turned away. "Don't get the wrong idea! It's not like I lose to her a lot."
"You said it, not me." Red Hat teased as began his turn. "Alright, enough games. My turn, I draw!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 6
"I play the spell card Dark World Lightning! I destroy a set card on the field; then if it's destroyed, I discard one card! Your left facedown is destroyed!" Powerful purple lighnting shocked and destroyed the facedown, which revealed to be My Body as a Shield. When the card was destroyed, Red Hat discarded a card.
"Ha! I knew it had to at least be that card!" Maki quiped, knowing full well that's one of the cards Masha would always play. "Although, why are you discarding? Doesn't make you have a huge disadvantage?" Maki asked Red Hat. Confused as to why he would ever activate effect that force him to disacard. Since, he was always against playing cards that make him go into a minus.
"This deck I'm playing requires discards by effects. Though discards by effects and cost are two completely different effect." Red Hat explained. "The card I discarded was Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World! When he's discarded by an effect I can special summon him! (Atk: 2300 Def: 1400)" Goldd emerged onto the field in a black mist.
"Dark Worlds? What kind of cards are those? I never heard of them?" Maki asked,finding the dark world cards to be new to her. Actually these cards aren't actually currently known as far as she was concerned.
"Monsters that require discards by effect, either by me or the opponent. Granted the opponent has to be playing specific hand control cards; which if they're were smart, aren't foolish enough to disacrd a Dark World. As some of the more powerful Dark World monsters severly punish the opponent for disacarding them." Red Hat further explained.
Disa growled at the monster that was summoned and stared down at her opponent. "Fitting for a devil like you. Willing to punish helpless duelist in anyway you can for you're own ammusment."
"I still have zero idea why all of you are suddenly calling me that." He replied, not even caring that he was now being constantly called that by the white students. "Battle, Gorz token attack that Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6!" The token leaped forward and attacked the the flame dragon. Horus retaliated by launching black flames at the token monster. Both targets were destroyed in battle.
"You'll pay for that!" Masha snapped.
"Cry me a river. I set one monster then I set two cards facedown and end my turn." Red Hat ends his turn.
Hand 1
'Need to be careful. This deck can't afford a hard minus.' He thought as he observed the board state and his final card in his hand, which was currently useless.
"You're wasting your time. It's my turn, I draw!" Disa draws.
Hand 5
"I play the spell card Soul Exchange! With this, I can tribute one of your monsters to tribute summon one of my own. In exchange however, I can't conduct my battle phase this turn!" A cloud of smoke soon surrounded Gorz. "I tribute Gorz that's on your field and tribute summon Zaborg the Thunder Monarch! (Atk: 2400 Def: 1000)" In a blast of lightning, Zaborg appeared onto the field.
'Playing monarchs? If so, how aren't you the best female duelist?' Red Hat thought, realizing his opponent was a monarch user.
"Zaborg's effect, when he's tribute summoned, he destroys a monster on the field! So your Dark World fiend is destroyed!" Zaborg launched a bolt of lightning at the Dark World monster and destroyed him.
As Red Hat covered his face and held onto his hat. "Don't think this won't come without a price! Chain trap card, Bottomless Trap Hole! Zaborg is banished and destroyed!" A large hole opened up under Zaborg.
Disa chuckled at his attempt. "Did you forget our facedown? I activate and chain the continous trap, Royal Decree! All trap cards are negated, except this card!" The trap revealed itself and created a puslating shockwave.
Although, Red Hat was having none of this. "I didn't forget at all. Thought you two may have some counter meassure! Chain, quick play spell Mystical Space Typhoon! Royal Decree get's destroyed!" A typhoon emerged and destroyed the continous trap. "Since your trap was destroyed, Bottomless Trap Hole now goes of! So, Zaborg is banished!" Now without any more interruptions, Zaborg fell into the hole. As he was swalloed up, the hole close back up.
Disa growled at his actions. "You won't get away with this, you hear me? I set one card facedown and end my turn." Disa ends her turn.
Hand 2
"It's my turn, I draw!" Maki draws.
Hand 4
"I play the spell card Graceful Charity! I draw 3 cards, then I discard 2!" Maki draws her cards and discards Protector of the Sancturary and another Slate Warrior. "I banish two wind monsters and an earth monster. That being my Slate Warriors and Protector of the Sancturary to special summon Desert Twister! (Atk: 2300 Def: 2000)" A powerful gust of windformed to create a twister, which then, a large dark grey fiend emerged from the twister. It's torse was colored orange and his outlines was red. The fiend roared as the twister wraped around his lower torso.
Disa merly growled at the site of this creature. "You support demons now? I didn't think you be so supportive to demons or the devil!"
Maki groaned and fumed after hearing Disa comment. "My deck is all about fiends! You already know that! Why do you have a problem now is beyond me! You two were never religious from what I was aware of!"
Disa chuckled at her naiveity. "Guess that means well have to bless you with the power of the light, once we're through with you and that devil's advocate!"
Maki scoffed at her. "Whatever! Ignition priority! Desert Twister's effect allows me to destroy one spell or trap on the field at the cost of discarding one card! So, that facedown is destroyed!" As Maki discarded her card, the large field launched a hurricane at the facedown card.
Disa covered her face as held withstood the powerful winds. "You're wasting your time! Go trap card, Bottomless Trap Hole! Now your monster is banished! Your effect has been wasted!" A hole opened up beneath the fiend and fell into the hole as his winds destroyed the trap card, despite being chained. "You might want to reconsider your dueling plan! Or have you lost your touch Maki?" Disa mocked her.
Maki grit her teeth. "Don't mock me, you hear! I set a monster and call it a turn!" Maki ends her turn.
Hand 1
"It's my turn, I draw!" Masha draws.
Hand 3
"Treeborn Frog comes back since there's no backrow on our field! (Atk: 100 Def: 100)" The frog returns onto the field in a puddle of water. "I tribute the treeborn frog to tribute summon Jinzo! (Atk: 2400 Def: 1500)" The cybernetic cyborg emerged onto the field.
Something about the opponent summomning Jinzo rubbed Red Hat the wrong way for some reason. Though he couldn't place his finger on it. 'Now all traps are disabled until it's destroyed. If Masha attacks the wrong monsters, then I'll be left with a huge hand minus...' He thought, hoping Masha would attack Maki's monster. Even if it was just bait, or if it had a floating effect.
"Battle, Jinzo attack Maki's facedown monster!" Jinzo conjured a energy orb of psychic energy and attacked Maki's facedown monster, revealing to be Giant Germ. (Atk: 1000 Def: 100) Once the monster was destroyed, it let out poison gas which reached both parties and began to cough at the gas, before it disappeared.
Disa & Maki: 6100 - 5600 LP
"Giant Germ's effect, since it was destroyed in battle, you take 500 burn damage and I can summon two more of them from my deck in attack position! (Atk: 1000 Def: 100 X2)" Two more Giant Germs replaced the one that was destroyed.
"That won't help you by much. I set one card facedown and end my turn." Masha ends her turn.
Hand 1
"It's my turn, I draw!" Red Hat draws.
Hand 2
'This card may help me.' Red Hat thought as he tried to figure out what he could do. All depended on what he drew next. "I set a card facedown, then I flip summon Morphing Jar! (Atk: 700 Def: 600)" The jar monster revealed itself as the monster within the jar came out of it's jar. "Now we discard our hand and we redraw five new cards!"
Masha merly smiled as she redrew a hand along side Red Hat. "Giving me a new hand? You want to lose or something?"
"Who said I'm going to let you keep that hand? One of the monsters I discarded was Broww, Huntsman of Dark World. When disacrded by an effect, I draw 1 card." He draws his card. "Now I play my set card, Card Destruction! We discard our entire hand and redraw the same number of cards!" The both of them discarded their cards. Masha scowled, knowing that cards she discarded were ones she wanted to keep or would help her out.
As Red Hat drew a new hand, a couple cards began to glow in his graveyard. "I'll activate three cards in my graveyard! Ceruli, Guru of Dark World; Kahkki, Guerilla of Dark World; and Gren, Tactician of Dark World effects actiavte in chain! First Gren's effect destroys a spell or trap on the field! So that facedown is destroyed!" The small fiend emerged and chanted a spell which caused the Masha's facedown to scatter.
"Now, Kahkki effect, he destroys a monster on the field when discarded! So Jinzo now get's destroyed!" Kahkki appeared and swung it's blade at the cyborg, destroying it. "And finally, Ceruli's effect activates. When discard, he get's special summoned to your side of the field in defense position! If summoned by a dark world card, inlcuding his own; the opponent must disacrd one card!" Ceruli emerged onto Masha's field
"Just what are you trying to do? Is this some contrive way of making me discard?" She asked, confused as what he was trying to do.
"Ceruli is on your field when it was special summoned. So that discard effect is applied to me!" Red Hat smirks as he discarded a paticular card. "The monster I discarded was Sillva, Warlord of Dark World! Since he was discarded by a card effect, I can special summon him! (Atk: 2300 Def: 1400)" The silver armored field appeared onto the field. "He has another effect! If he was disacrded from ym hand by the opponent, you must place exactly two cards from your hand at the bottom of the deck in any order! So get rid your two cards!"
Sillva released a dark aura which caused Masha's hand to glow the same aura. Sighing, he placed two of her least useful cards at the bottom of the deck. 'So not even discard, but shuffling them back into my deck.'
"Don't think I'm done yet! I play the spell card Delinquent Duo! By paying 1000 LP you have to discard a random card in your hand; then if you still have cards in your hand, you discard one more card of your choice!"
Red Hat & Maki 2800 - 1800 LP
Masha, now annoyed by his plays, reluctantly discarded one of her cards, which turned out to be Snatch Steal. She then discarded another card, which so happened to be Premature Burial.
"I play the spell card Smashing Ground! This destroys a monster with the highest defense points! Marshmallon has more defense points, so your wall is destroyed!" A large fist came down from the sky and smashed the Marshmallon down to the gorund as it exploded.
The duo cried out as their wall was destroyed. "Shoot, now we can't defend anymore!"
"Battle, Morphing Jar attack Ceruli!" The monster within the jar came out and wrapped itself around the fiend, strangling it as it was destroyed. "Sillva attack them directly!" The silver armored field unsheath it's sword and leaped forward, slashed Masha directly.
Disa & Masha: 5600 - 3300 LP
"I switch both Giant Germs to defense mode, then I set two cards facedown and end my turn." Red Hat ends his turn.
Hand 1
'This was a risky play. My last card may come in handy.' He thought as he looked at the last card in his hand.
"Big mistake on your part! My turn, I draw!" Disa draws.
Hand 3
"Treeborn Frog effect activates again, coming onto the field!" A small puddle appeared omto the field as the frog was about to emerge. As it was about rise from the water, a crow came from above and took hold of the frog. "Eh!? What's happening?!"
Red Hat smirked as he revealed the last card in his hand. "The monster is called D.D Crow! By discarding this card, I can banish a card from either players graveyard! By banishing your Treeborn Frog, it can no longer revive itself!" The dimensional crow took the frog back to the dimensional hole. Once it entered the banish zone, both monsters disappeared.
Disa gritted her teeth as she her her best tribute fodder get banished. "You'll pay for that! I play the spell card, Brain Control! By paying 800 LP I can take control of one of your monsters! I'll take hold of that fiend!" A large brain appeared and extended it's arms and took hold of the silvered armored fiend and placed it on her side.
Disa & Masha: 3300 - 2500 LP
"Now I tribute your monster to tribute summon Mobius the Frost Monarch! (Atk: 2400 Def: 1000)" The frost monarch emerged in a blast of icy winds. "His effect when tribute summoned, he can pop two facedown cards. Go Icicle Lance!" Mobius creates two icicle lance and launches them at the facedowns.
"Chain trap card, The Forces of Darkness! With this card, I can add back 2 Dark World monsters from my graveyard to my hand! I'll choose Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World and Ceruli, Guru of Dark World!" Red Hat announced as he added back his cards once his facedowns got destroyed.
"You think that's supposed to scare me? I'll crush you! Mobius attack his Morphing Jar! Blizzard Storm!" Mobius created snow and ice storm, freezing Morphing Jar before it exploded.
Red Hat & Maki: 1800 - 100 LP
"You two are almost out of life points! Maki will join the Society of Light and you'll be eliminated, devil!" Disa declared. "I set a card facedown and end my turn." Disa ends her turn.
Hand 0
"Grr, I won't lose to you two! Not this time! It's my turn, I draw!" Maki draws.
Hand 2
"I play the spell card Pot of Greed!" Maki draws her cards and smirks. "I play the equip spell card Snatch Steal! With this, I steal your Mobius the Frost Monarch!" Mobius soon came over to her side of the field, leaving the duo fuming. "Time to battle!"
Disa wasn't having any of it. "Go trap card, Threatening Roar! You can't conduct your battle phase this turn!" Disa announced as a powerful roar was released, preventing Mobius from attacking.
"Don't think I'm going to allow Mobius to stay on the field. I tribute it to tribute summon Dark Ruler Ha Des! (Atk: 2450 Def: 1600)" The Dark Ruler emerged onto the field, much to Red Hat's displeasure. "I set one card facedown and end my turn!" Maki ends her turn
Hand 0
'We meet again, human. Enjoy the gift I gave you?' The Dark Ruler chuckled as he awaited for further action.
Red Hat lightly growled as to not be heard by the others. 'You forced this curse upon me. I won't give you the pleasure of watching me suffer.' He quietly muttered.
The Dark Ruler laughed at his expense. 'You know what you have to do. Take down those followers of the light and infuse them with darkness!'
'What do you plan to do with them anyway?' He replied quietly.
'The darkness that's in your curse will release powerful energy to erase the light's influence that's controling them.'
Red Hat narrowed his eyes. 'I know you have no intention of actually helping these students. That's not why you would even consider giving me this curse.'
The Dark Ruler chuckled even more. 'You are correct. This is done to spread influence of darkness. So when the time comes, they'll be unable to resist the darkness within their hearts.'
'Just what do you intend to do with that? What do you have to gain by making me free those possessed by the light?'
'Only those that weild Gentle Darkness or in your case, the curse and influence of Darkness can destroy the corrupted light. You'r feeble allies can not free them no matter how many times they defeat them in battle!'
'I will not work with you just so you can corrupt these people. Once this take over is resolved, I'll find a way to remove your influence.' Red Hat muttered, hoping he made the right choice.
'Your mark has you tied to me. You can not betray me and your other spirits will not save you! We'll meet again soon!' The spirit of the dark ruler disappeared.
The Society of Light duo shivered as they felt an unknown pressence which felt malicious to them. "Have you gone mad or something? It's almost like you were talking to someone?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about." Red Hat denied.
"Fine be that way. It's my turn, I draw!" Masha draws.
Hand 2
"I play the spell card Monster Reborn to bring back Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6! (Atk: 2300 Def: 1600)" The metalic dragon reemerged onto the field. "Next, I play the spell card Level up! With this, I send Horus to the graveyard to specual summon Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8! (Atk: 3000 Def: 1800)" Horus was now enveloped in a mass of black flames, which gre bigger. Then, a roar burst out from the flames once they stopped growing, causing them to fan out, revealing the dragon's final form.
'Oh boy, hope you have an answer for this, Maki.' Red Hat thought. Hoping he wouldn't lose. Not like this.
"Battle, Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8 attack Dark Ruler Ha Des and end this duel!" Horus spat a torrent of flames at the dark ruler. This time though, Maki wasn't going to let her have an advantage.
"Reveal trap card! Crush Card Virus! I tribute one of my Giant Germs since it has exactly 1000 attack points. Now all monsters on the field and in your hands with 1500 or more attack are destroyed! And for the next three turns, I must check your hand for every card you draw. Any monsters with 1500 or more attack get destroyed." Horus continued it's attack until particles of the virus began to spread around, infecting the dragon and soon exploded into purple pixles.
"It can't be! Horus was so easily destroyed? Grr, I end my turn." Masha ends her turn.
Hand 0
"I won't be pushed around! Boku no turn!" Red Hat draws, only this time, his draw glowed with a dark aura.
Hand 3
"I play the spell card Dark World Dealings! Both players draw one card, then we discard one card! However, since you have no cards in your hand, you have no choice but to discard it!" He explaied as he drew his card and discarded Goldd. Masha drew her card only to immedately discard it, which happened to be Call of the Haunted.
"Goldd was disacrded to the grave by a card effect. So I can special summon him! (Atk: 2300 Def: 1400)" Goldd returns onto the field. "Battle, Goldd atatck them directly!" Goldd uses his staff and attacks with purple lightning.
Disa & Masha: 2500 - 200 LP
Red Hat's mark began to emit mist and glow, which the others were completely oblivious too. "Ha Des, finish them off!" The Dark Ruler began to laugh manically and conjured a massive dark energy orb with one hand. Once it grew large enough he tossed it at the possessed duo and engulfed the both of them, creating powerful shockwaves.
'Be gone, pawns of the light!'
Both girls screamed as they collasped on the floor, while their last remaining LP was depleted.
Disa & Masha: 200 - 0 LP
Maki deactivated her duel disk and ran up to the collasped girls. She got on her kness and took a look a good look at them. When they appeared to be knocked out, Maki stood up and narrowed her eyes at Red Hat. "Just what was that? What happened back there?"
Red Hat deactivated his own duel disk and walked up to her, paying more attention to the downed girls. "I have no idea. Something is going on around here." He took a closer look and noticed the white knight leave the two girls bodies and evaporated in the air. 'Was that the light? Was that the light's influence.'
It took a while, but the two girls began to slowly stir, Masha waking up first before Disa did. Both girls sat up and took a look of their surroundings, only to find Maki and the Red Hat staring at them.
"What happened? Did we just duel?" Masha asked.
"Did we duel you Maki? And why did we duel Red Hat?" Disa asked, confused at their current situation. They took a look at themselves and noticed they were dressed in white rather then their usualy uniform that was Blue. "Why are we wearing white? Just what is going on here?"
Red Hat raised an eye brow at their reaction. "You don't remember anything? What happened to you girls? What was the last thing you remebered?"
Disa clutched her head as she suddenly felt a headache coming along. "Agh, I don't remember much. Last thing I remember was I was challenged to a duel by Alexis Rhodes then she went ahead and dueled Masha. We both lost and everything after that was a blur."
Maki tilted her head in confusion. They seriously don't remember anything? Not even the duel they just had? Just what the heck was going on at this school? She had so many questions and she doubt she was going to get any answers from these two. One thing she was happy about though, she was able to beat these two. Even if she had to Tag Duel with Red Hat.
Masha grasped her head. also feeling a headache coming along. Not before glacning at her former opponents. "I didn't know you liked tagging along with him, Maki?"
That statement cause Maki to blush and fume. "Don't you dare get the wrong idea! It's not like I wanted to tag with him! We just so happened to run into you girls and you challenged us!"
Masha scratched her head in confusion. "We challenegd you to a duel? I don't remember doing that."
'They don't seem to remember anything. Why is that?' Red Hat thought. After being asked various questions by him and Maki, they don't seem to have any recoletion on what happened since they were possessed. Was this a side effect of being possessed by the light? What lied ahead for them later down the line? Will the other members try to possess them again, or will they leave them alone now that they were freed by him? He hoped they would be left alone now that they were freed.
"I think it's time you two come back to the dorm with me. Let's get you back into the blue uniform." Maki sugessted with the duo nodding in agreement.
Red Hat turned around. "Rest up all of you. Stay away from the Socioety of Light members. What ever you do, do not duel them. There's a high chance you can get possessed again."
"I'm not sure what you're talking about, but we'll take your word for it, Red Hat. Maybe next time we can have a proper duel." Disa said as they two of them stood and began to walk away with Maki back to the dorm.
Red Hat chuckled and smiled. "In that case, I'll look forward to that. It's rare to see a Monarch user." He compliments before he leaves the girls to do their own thing.
He walked around the edge of the island. By the time he made his way to the Slifer Red Dorm, the sun was already beginning to set. 'Something is very wrong here. Just what does the dark ruler gain for making me free people from the light's control?'
By the time he made it to the dorm and entered Chazz's room. He noticed Jaden and the others have returned from whatever they have been up to.
They also noticed Red Hat has entered the room. "Hey, Red Hat! Where have you been all this time?!" Jaden asked.
He sighed and replied. "I've been challenged by two female Obelisk Blue students that were part of the white dorm. I Tag Duel with an Obelisk Blue girl that hasn't been possessed yet, and we won."
"Since when do you hang out with a girl?! Is she your secret girlfriend?!" Syrus asked in disbelief, only to immediately be punched in the cheek by Red Hat, albiet lightly. "Ow!"
"Here name is Maki and she want's nothing to do with me. We were basically forced to duel together." He clarified.
Syrus,now rubbing his cheek groaned. "You didn't have to punch me, you know!"
"Stop making absurd claims and stop acting like a coward and maybe I won't think so lowly of you..." He replied, not feeling any bit of shame for his actions.
"Calm down, soldier! Don't make have to court-martial you for attacking a friendly!" Hassleberry warned, tapping him on his shoulder.
"What happened during that duel, Red Hat?" Jaden asked, ignoring what just happened in the moment.
"Actually, something strange happened." He answered, sighing before he continued. "Apparently, after I defeated them, they were knocked out for bit, before they woke up. Apparently they have been freed and have no memories on what happened to them once they joined the Society of Light. Only thing they could remember was being defeated by Alexis was part of the Society of Light."
"Hold on, you're telling is Alexis has been dueling girls at her dorm too? Just to have them join the white dorm?" Hassleberry asked, shocked that their former friend was doing the same thing Chazz was doing.
Red Hat shook his head. "No. I saw Jasmine and Mindy who where perfectly normal. Maki, the girl I've hung around today also wasn't part of the Society. Two Obelisk Blue boys I encoutered also weren't part of the Society. I think they are selective on who they allow to join. And beat them in a duel to possess them." He muttered that last part to himself
"Hold up! You said you dueled and beat them! After that, they were freed from being part of the group, right? So all we have to do is duel these Society of Light guys and we can free them?" Jaden asked, wondering if the problem was that simple to solve.
"I don't think it will be that easy, Jaden." He replied. "I don't think just dueling them will solve this issue. There has to be something else involved. Also, after that fiasco. Now, Society of Light members are going to make sure I don't release people from their group."
"So, what are we supposed to do then? Just sit around and wait to strike us?" Syrus question, not being fond of the idea of being hunted down.
"We'll have to test a duel between you guys and Society of Light members. I'll try and get others involved just to make sure. I have a theory, just to make sure I'm not totally wrong."
"If you say so."
"So are we just going to antagonize those guys just to test out this idea of yours?" Hassleberry asked, also not liking the idea of being a guinie pig.
"There's something else too. I could be wrong and this is just rumors. From what I was told, Bonaparte is once again trying to take down the Slifer Red Dorm. Only he's going at it alone, because the Society of Light members want to turn Obelisk White into an offical dorm. That's because Crowler wants to keep the status of the Blue Dorm the same." He further explained.
Hassleberry growled and clentched his fists. "That dang Vice Chancellor! He just doesn't know when to quit!"
"Yeah, now we're going to have to make duel to make sure Bonaparte doesn't get his way." Jaden added.
"This is just getting worse and worse!" Syrus cried out. "So many are joining the white dorm, Bonaparte is at it again! What can we do!"
Red Hat chuckled at them for being such worry worts. "Not to worry, I'll be by you guy's side. I'll even help your decks out a bit. That way, they won't know you guys have become much stronger, especially you Jaden."
Jaden smiled at him. "Heck yeah! Thanks for always looking out for us, man!"
"I sometimes question Syrus ability, but that doesn't mean I'm going to let Society of Light members take you guys too!" Red Hat took out some cards he had previously had left over and handed each of them one card that best suited them.
"Hey, thanks for the card!"
"This can help me out! Thanks!" Syrus thanked.
"Thanks for the card soldier, but where are you heading now?" Hassleberry asked.
"I'll be heading back to my room. We'll inform Bastion on this matter soon enough. I'm tired after that one duel I had." He left the room unceremoniously and returned to his quarters. He refused to let them know that his power from the curse was the reason he freed those two girls. He also refused to tell them what is going on around him. The last thing he wanted to do was endager them even more then he already had.
Once he entered his room and closed his door. He immediately collasped onto his bed. Despite the duel taking a toll on him. He didn't want to sleep just yet.
'I don't wish to put Jaden and the other in danger, but what else can we do? We can't just sit here and not attempt to free them.' He thought as he stared at his mark. 'If this curse is giving me the power to free those from the light, then how will the others fair?'
'You are aware the dark ruler is trying to control those people, correct?' Aussa said as she appeared and sat down on the side of his bed.
"He knows he can't do that as that will alert the society of light members." He replied. "It will also make it known something else will be going on, which will make his plans moot." He stared at his mark again and narrowed his eyes. "If only I can remove this mark completely. Even if it means I can no longer free those of the light. Eventually this curse will try and take control of me."
Aussa adjusted her glasses. 'There's no point in dweling on it now. You'll stress yourself out if continue behaving like this.'
"So much for a normal school year. Now I have to fight a bunch of loonatics supporting some unknown manager." He muttered.
'I'm sure you'll eventually save the people from this corrupted light. Even with the help of your friends.' She tried to cheer him up.
"I'll keep that in mind." Red Hat replied before he went to sleep with his duel spirit partner soon disappearing back to her world.
A/N: This took far longer then necessary. My old computer permidently gave out on me. So I had to order a very old cheap PC just for my personal work specifically. Since not like I use my PC for much else. Now time for a couple of replies from comments. Names will not be mentioned.
One person made multiples: First Point) The Obelisk Blue girls debackle has been going on for years. Realistically, only thing I got was because of Japanese law that forbid females going to low quality standards of living. Take this with a grain of salt. Second Point) I have no intention of shitting on Alexis, but that doesn't mean I'm going to focus on her so often, but will give her enough chances. Fandom treating her better has been way over done (Whether it's up to your standards or not is highly subjective.) I refuse to follow the same line like the majority, cause the same standard is never applied to characters like Blair (If anything it's encourged to shit on her). Third Point) Red Hat is his own character. LORE wise, he's highly competetive. That's who he is in what little he's described in. All incarnates are like that (I refuse to believe all versions of Red Hat is the same guy). It's not a self insert and never was supposed to be. At worst it's loose adaptations.
Most recent guy: I hate my oldest chapters. It's obvious this suffers from first story syndrome. However, I'm not going to cancel it, just to remake them. I'm going to finish this, no matter how long it takes, even if it becomes dated. Also, Red Hat has no canonical name. The people that think his name is Konami-(kun) comes from a misunderstanding that the deault name in the PS2 port of Tag Force 1 (That being Konami) is his name. It's not like Link in the slightest. He has no cannon name. The reference I use for the Red Hat name persona is that some characters just refer to him as The Boy in the Red Hat.
