Chapter 25: The Devils Vinyl Part 9

AN: Short chapter. I was doing this on a phone. Oops.

Zed screeches onto campus, past a Scott University sign with a stylized tiger. Chas follows behind in his rental.

Zed finds a small but modern radio station. A satellite dish and transmitter just outside the main building. They all park and exit.

"Good thing you got there when you did."

"We got one set of headphones. You two stay out here. Find a way to take this station off the grid." John turns and runs toward the door, leaving Chas and Zed to ponder.

Sara turned to John, "Coincidence?"

He shrugged.

"Uuh..." Chas looked over at Zed.

"Don't look at me." She replies.

John runs inside. As he hurries toward the studio, he hears Willie Cole's song as he reached the danger zone. John pulls out his MP3 player and puts on the headphones. "Okay, gimme the juice, Johnny." John plays 'Anarchy In The UK' by the Sex Pistols, cranks it, and we're beset by Johnny Rotten at full volume.

Kendra frowned, "You couldn't have chosen any other song?"

"What? It's a good song. Worked well to."

John bursts inside to find terrified station personnel taking covered behind desks and tape racks.

"Right! Now! Ha ha ha ha ha! I am an antichrist! I am an anarchist! Don't know what I want, but I know how to get it! I wanna destroy...!" Comes over Johns MP3 player.

Across the studio lies a sound-proof broadcast booth, crowded with CDs, albums and old 78's. Creed and Traylor hover over a turntable inside, their weapons in hand, watching over the studio. Two studio monitor speakers are hung outside the booth. John takes cover.

Outside, Chas shakes the door on the transmitter building. Locked. Zed watches. They know time is short. The Sex Pistols continues to assault our senses.

Kendra lifted a hand slightly as if to block out the sound as the volume didn't lessen.

"Screw this..." Chas mutters before running to the car, pointing at Zed. "Stand back!"

"Should've stood farther back then I did." Zed mumbled to herself.

"Is this when -" John was quieted by his teammates.

Team Legends were slowly figuring out what was about to happen.

He starts the car, races the engine, then tears out. The car screams straight for the transmitter building. It slams into it. The impact rips the building from the ground and sends an explosion of sparks into the air.

Jax winced as the car hit. As a mechanic, it hurt to see the car hit the building like that.

Back in the studio, John darts for the sound booth, but a man holding his ears, blood streaming through his fingers, stumbles out from his hiding place into John's path. John dodges him and turns just in time to see - a frantic woman coming at him, flailing in agony. She catches John's headphone cord and flings them across the room.

Instantly, the Sex Pistols cuts out, replaced by an inhuman, unearthly wail. John clutches his ears and falls to his knees. Around him, the studio continues to melt down. John is on the ground, exposed to the Devil's Voice, with no rescue in sight -

"Maybe the music wasn't that bad."

The screen goes black.

Chas turned to look at his friend, "You know, you never told me about this."

"It wasn't a needed fact."

Knowing an argument would be futile, he just shook his head and sent a glance that told his friend that they would continue this later.

End Chapter:

AN: Currently dealing with post-show depression after finishing The Shannara Chronicles and remembering "Hey, it was cancelled and it Game-of-Thronesed half the cast so none of your favorite characters survived"... That along with failing one of my English classes... Well, things are a bit insane right now... Anyways, stay safe everyone and have a great day!
