Chapter 1 New hope
Author's note; Summary: Annie, Rachel and Irene go to the oceanic realm to rescue Parker from the hunters; In Florence, the others deal with the aftermath of the battle.
Annie Yesconis flew through the vortex with a look of determination. She was on a mission to the oceanic realm, to rescue her boyfriend, Parker Gaxiola. Annie's best friend Rachel Yearwood and their frenemy Irene Frost were with her.
Parker had been kidnapped by supernatural hunters, an organization of people who hated magic beings. A few months ago, a man named George Clemons and his girlfriend Yuria came to Florence. They turned out to be supernatural hunters out to destroy mermaids.
They had stolen a magical pearl that could make portals to different realms to transport them to the oceanic realm and they took Parker as a hostage.
Annie, Rachel and Irene flew towards a light and the suddenly found themselves underwater.
Rachel stared around in amazement; she had never been to the oceanic realm before. It looked like any underwater world back home, but she could tell there was something magical about it.
"So, this is the oceanic realm," said Rachel. "It's very beautiful."
"Yeah," said Annie.
"Come on," said Irene. "We've got to find Parker."
"I hope we're not too late" said Annie worriedly.
"Don't worry," said Rachel. "We'll find him."
They swum off in search of Parker.

Meanwhile in another part of the ocean, George Yuria and Parker came out of the portal. They had stolen a spell to allow them to breath underwater in the oceanic realm.
They looked around and saw they were underwater.
"We made it!" declared George, chuckling triumphantly. "We made it."
"Now what do we do?" asked Yuria.
"We find the mermaids and then we'll tell head office explained George. "Then they'll be back to take more and more mermaids."
When George was a child, his father had been killed by a mermaid. He had hated mermaids ever since. He had met Yuria and joined the supernatural hunters to avenge his father and destroy all mermaids.
"How do you plan on getting back without magic?" asked Parker who was being held by one arm each.
George and Yuria didn't answer. They just exchanged looks at each other, Parker could see a bit of concern on their faces.
"We'll take him to the mermaids and tell them we'll give him over to them if they agree to surrender," George instructed to his girlfriend. "Since his girlfriend is well known to them, they'll agree."
Yuria nodded, though Parker could see she was looking regretful about the plan.
"Move along" ordered George pulling Parker's arm.

Meanwhile back in Florence Oregon, Irene's best friends Trish Callahan and Kelsey Tear along with Trish's younger sisters Elaine and Cat were sitting in the police station waiting to be interviewed.
Earlier that year Rachel and Trish had fallen into the moonpool in the sea lion caves Annie had fallen into the year before. Annie and Irene had opened the portal to the oceanic realm and had gotten turned into mermaids like her and Irene.
In the past few months since George and Yuria came to Florence, they had been stalking the girls to get information for head office. Last night, they had come to Trish's house and caused her to get moonspelled, Kelsey had told Elaine and Cat about the mermaids.
Trish was still feeling wary about the previous night's events.
Just then Mr. and Mrs. Callahan came in.
"Girls!" cried Mrs. Callahan running up and hugged her daughters.
"Where have you been?" she cried. "We've been worried about you!"
"We were worried all night about," added Mr. Callahan. "And then this morning the police called us to say you were in the police station and that we had to come by."
The girls all exchanged looks.
"Last night the stalker came back," Kelsey spoke up. "It turned out to be two stalkers. We ran out the door and hid out in the woods."
Mr. and Mrs. Callahan listened in shock.
"What?" Mr. Callahan exclaimed.
"We're fine mom," Trish assured softly.
Before her parents could say anything, Trish and Kelsey's classmate Amelia's older sister Charlotte showed up. She was a police officer.
"We're ready for you" she said sympathetically.
Trish, her family and Kelsey all got up and went inside the interrogation room to be interviewed.

George, Yuria and Parker swum through the water; in the distance they could see a castle.
"There's the mermaids castle," said George. "Come along."
"Are you sure we should be doing this?" asked Yuria uncertainly.
"We got our orders from head office," said George annoyedly. "Once they see this, we'll be members of the council."
The three swum closer to the castle when suddenly, three mermen carrying tridents swum in front of them.
"Halt humans" said one.
Parker realized they were guards.
King Merrow and queen Thelxiepeia the king and queen of the mermaids swum up, joining them was their daughter princess Celina, who Annie and Irene met when they first came to the oceanic realm.
"Parker?" gasped Celina. She was surprised to see him in the oceanic realm.
"We hunters have been sent here from head office to exterminate you mermaids," announced George. "Surrender your ocean now."
"Get out!" hissed the king holding out his trident.
George took a deep breath and swum forward while Yuria kept hold of Parker.
"This boy happens to be the boyfriend of a mermaid you know," he said. "Surrender now and we'll let him go."
"We'll never surrender" said Merrow boldly.
George paused.
"Then you're not getting the boy" he said dryly.
Before anyone could know what was happening, the king thrusted his trident through George's body. The trident's points poked through the body's back sides. Blood floated out in all directions. Everyone watched in shock and horror as it happened.
Merrow removed the trident from George's body and it sunk to the sandy floor.
"Run!" Yuria cried to Parker.
Parker turned and swum up towards the surface, Yuria swum not far behind. But the guards were trying to catch her.
Just then one of the guard's tridents made an electrical bolt shot out and zapped Yuria in the body shocking her.
Yuria winced in pain, but attempted to make it to the surface.
Parker could see an island in the distance and he and Yuria swum on to the shore.

Trish, Kelsey and Trish's family sat down in the interrogation room.
"I know that you've reported your daughter being stalked," said Charlotte to Trish's parents. They nodded. Charlotte then faced Trish "Tell me what happened last night."
"Well," Trish spoke softly. "We were just hanging around in the living room, when I saw them out the window."
"We got scared," Kelsey jumped in. "So, we ran out of the house and hid in the woods all night."
Charlotte looked at Elaine and Cat.
"Did you have any awareness of your sister's stalker?" she asked.
"Yes," replied Cat. "But we never really noticed anything."
"We did see this car," Elaine spoke up. "We'd see this black car sometimes and this figure, just standing across the street watching us. and sometimes it would follow us while we drove."
"Do you have any suspects?" asked Charlotte.
Trish looked down shakily, Kelsey held her friend's hand.
"It's this man named George Clemons and his girlfriend" she spoke.

In another interrogation room Annie's father Alex and Stepmother Vivian were also being interviewed.
"Can you tell us about what your daughter's been experiencing with that stalker?" asked a policeman.
"Well Annie's had an uneasy feeling in public these past few months," Vivian spoke up. "Like someone's watching her. And she even saw this black car at her friend's sleepover and this figure standing in front of the car."
"Where is your daughter?" asked the officer. "We'd like to ask her some questions."
Alex and Vivian looked at each other.
"She's…," said Alex. "With friends" he partially lied.
"Your daughter's classmate mentioned that she claims these suspects are the stalkers named George and Yuria," the officer continued. "Can you prove her claims?"
"Yes," declared Alex frowning. "They seemed friendly at first, but they turned out to be trouble. Our daughter and her friends decided to spy on them, they followed them back to their hotel room and went in when they weren't there."
"They found their computer and found pictures of her and her classmates on it," added Vivian. "We found out they were the stalkers when we realized it was the same room they were staying in at the inn."
Vivian looked worried if she should've said that. She was worried there might be pictures of Annie, Rachel, Irene and Trish as mermaids on their computer.
"We will investigate in this" assured the officer.
Alex and Vivian nodded appreciatively to the officer. He then stepped out of the room for a moment.

On the island, Parker sat down on the sandy beach. It was a small tropical island with lots of palm trees.
He looked over at Yuria who kneeled down on the sand in pain from the shock.
"The seer's prediction was right," said Yuria shakily. "The mermaids were going to be our undoing."
Parker looked at her confused.
"What are you talking about?" he asked.
"That seer in Jasper said that if George and I continued down this path the mermaids were going to be our undoing before I killed her."
Parker stared at Yuria in shock.
"You hunters don't deserve to live!" he said furiously.
He grabbed a rock laying on the shore and ran over to Yuria and wacked her on the head with it.
Yuria collapsed down; a gash of blood was on the side of her head. She looked up at Parker pleadingly.
"Please help me," she begged. "I'm sorry about your friends."
Parker could see guilt in the hunter's eyes. He could tell she knew things had gone too far. But he knew it was too dangerous to keep her alive. Taking a deep breath, he held up the rock again and hit her.
With a crack, Yuria dropped down dead.

Annie, Rachel and Irene swum threw the water as fast as they could. They were heading for the castle, to ask Celina's family for help and to warn them about George and Yuria.
Just ahead was the castle and they could see mermaids gathered around.
"Celina!" cried Annie.
Celina and her oldest sister Lacey turned around.
"Annie," exclaimed Celina. "Rachel, Irene. What are you doing here?"
"These supernatural hunters kidnapped Parker and brought him into the oceanic realm!" cried Irene.
"We know," said Celina gravely. "We saw them not long ago."
Irene and the others looked down and they saw the body of George on the ocean floor. They stared down in disgust at the wounds from the trident.
"What happened?" Annie spoke up after a minute.
"Dad and the guards confronted them," explained Celina. "And dad stabbed him with his trident. The female hunter and Parker got away, but not without her getting shocked with one of the guard's tridents."
"Did you see where they went?" asked Annie.
"They swum up towards the surface," said Celina. "There's an island up there."
Celina, led the three girls to the surface.

Back at the police station, Alex and Vivian were waiting in the interrogation room and the policeman returned with two printed pictures.
"Mr. and Mrs. Yesconis," said the officer. "Are these the two suspects that have been stalking your daughter?"
Alex and Vivian looked at the two pictures and saw it was George and Yuria.
"Yes" replied Alex.
"We've seen officers to the inn with a search warrant," said the officer. "We'll keep in touch about the case."
"Thank you, officer," said Alex in a respectful voice.
Trish's family were shown the same pictures.
"Are these the people you saw?" asked Charlotte.
"Yes" replied Trish softly.
"We've sent officers to their room at the inn," said Charlotte. "We found all their belongings in their room but apparently, they left last night and never returned. We did find their computer though, there were pictures of Trish and her friends on it."
Mr. and Mrs. Callahan looked disgusted.
"We'll send patrols out looking for them," said Charlotte assuring. "And we'll find them."

At the hospital Dawn Wellington, the vice principal of Buchanan high and her sister Melora were in the waiting room. They had brought Irene's boyfriend Sean to the hospital after Yuria shot him.
Sean was a mermaid from the oceanic realm he had met Irene and Annie when they got brought into the realm.
Irene's mom, Lydia Frost came in. Irene's family came from a long line of mermaids.
"Is Sean, okay?" she asked concernedly.
"He'll be out soon," said Mrs. Wellington. "Annie, Rachel and Irene have gone to the oceanic realm to rescue Parker from the hunters."
"I came to take Sean home," said Lydia. "He really cares for Irene you know."
"I know," said Melora. "I hope the girls are going to be all right."
…
Celina, Annie, Rachel and Irene came to the surface and saw the island. Annie, Rachel and Irene crawled on the beach and Annie and Rachel used their heat powers to dry off and turn their tails back into legs.
They walked down the beach and saw Parker near Yuria's body.
"Parker!" cried Annie.
Parker turned and saw his girlfriend.
"Annie!" he cried.
The two ran up to each other and hugged.
"I'm so glad you're okay!" said Annie happily.
"Come on," said Celina. "We have something for you."
The four dove back and went underwater to the castle. Mermaids were gathered in the throne room along with Celina's sisters Lacey, Anenome, Layla, Jade and Tessa along with the princesses governess Dame Alexandra.
"Annie, Rachel and Irene," announced Marrow. "To thank you for defending our ocean, I present you with these moon rings."
A mermaid came along carrying a shell. It had three silver rings with a blue stone on it.
The three girls each took one and put it on.
"It's beautiful," said Annie.
"Thank you," said Rachel.
"It looks fabulous on me" said Irene admiringly.
And everyone laughed.
